A famous British TV presenter minced no words regarding the current furor revolving around the transgender movement.
Anne Robinson, 77, who became well-known for hosting the British game show “The Weakest Link” between 2000-2012 and its American counterpart “Weakest Link USA,” was interviewed by The Telegraph when she made her blunt comments, echoing the spirit of her famed “You are the weakest link – goodbye!”
“A woman is someone with a vagina,” Robinson declared. “I’m horrified by the lack of safety in women’s changing rooms, in swimming pools and that sort of thing.”
“I think the most interesting statistic is that the amount of trans who actually surgically get altered is minuscule,” she stated. “So you are talking about men in women’s changing rooms.”
Robinson expressed her concern about parents “taking their unhappy children to the Tavistock [gender clinic] when they’re 13” and agreeing their child had been born into the wrong body. She fired, “How do you know that’s what it is? That’s what your child is telling you it is. It’s that phrase: ‘Will that be what you want when you grow up?”
Robinson opined that women appearing on television should not be fat, saying, “There is an element of fat-ism about all of us. If you’re going to encourage people to be delighted to see older women, it helps if they look OK. We can’t start with overweight women on television who are 70 with bad hair.”
Then she turned to Oprah Winfrey, who has battled weight issues: “You turn on the TV to see if this is going to be one of her fat periods or one of her thin periods. And I’ve decided that she’s better fat – when she’s thin she’s quite bad-tempered, because she’s hungry.”
Taking aim at Meghan Markle, who complained that a member of the British royal family had made a disparaging remark about her son Archie’s skin color, Robinson snapped, “My grandchildren are an eighth Chinese and I wouldn’t have thought it was in the least bit odd or insulting to say: ‘I wonder how Chinese they’ll look?’”
Acknowledging that some viewers found her bluntness repugnant, she laughed, “If you ever get me to do a job, there will be half the audience saying: ‘Oh, no; not her.’ Because you can’t be as opinionated and pleased with yourself as I am and not have people – particularly women – saying: ‘God, she really gets up my nose.’”
Robinson joked about menopause: “I always say: if you put the key in the lock when you get home at night and you know you want to kill everyone on the other side of the door, it’s time to go to a consultant. A female consultant. Do not ever, ever go to a male gynecologist. Or a GP, because the chances of your GP knowing enough about the menopause to guide you are below zero.”
