<p>&#8220;Meet the Press&#8221; moderator Chuck Todd said Wednesday that Democrats were veering dangerously close to &#8220;shellacking territory&#8221; as the 2022 midterm elections loomed ever closer.</p>
<p>Todd began with the <a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21554083-nbc-news-march-poll">latest NBC poll</a> — taken between March 18-22 of this year — in which 71% of respondents said that the United States was headed in the wrong direction. Todd said that number, along with the corresponding low number (22%) who believed America was on the right track, could spell a lot of trouble for Democrats going into November&#8217;s midterms.</p>

<p>Todd brought out the &#8220;midterm meter&#8221; and explained, &#8220;Sixty-five percent wrong track is a bad number. Seventy-one percent? That’s why it is in the shellacking category.&#8221;</p>
<p>Todd went on to explain that presidential approval ratings were often reflected in midterm elections — and that even an approval rating in the mid-forties could spell disaster for a sitting president.</p>
<p>&#8220;When you start dipping below 45%, you’ve got a problem, and you’re gonna have midterms that are in the bad-to-shellacking ratio,&#8221; Todd continued. &#8220;President Biden is at 40. George W. Bush was at 39% in 2006. We know how that turned out. So, you see, that’s also in shellacking territory.&#8221;</p>
<p>Todd also noted a few other details — such as the fact that district maps might actually be better for Republicans than the projected numbers indicated. &#8220;The bottom line is, generic ballot, if the Democrats are losing, it means they’re gonna get walloped,&#8221; Todd explained, noting that all of the numbers taken together pointed to &#8220;dangerous territory&#8221; for Democrats.</p>
<p>Todd is not the only one warning that Democrats are looking at <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/cruz-reveals-3-words-that-signal-bloodbath-in-midterms-if-youre-a-democrat-thats-a-real-problem/">potentially historic losses</a> in 2022 — and the number of Democrats in Congress who have announced that they planned to retire or not seek reelection appears to coincide with those assessments.</p>
<p>As The Daily Wire reported:</p>

Ted Cruz (R-TX) told The Daily Wire this week that the “F*** Joe Biden” chants that have broken out at sporting events across the country signal not “a wave” but a “tsunami” is set to hit Democrats in this fall’s midterm elections as he warns Democrats are facing an all-out “bloodbath.”</em></p>
<p><em>Cruz pointed to the Democrats managing to “screw up every single issue they’ve touched” — including Biden’s border crisis, handling of the pandemic, and “disastrous” foreign policy decisions — and the skyrocketing inflation rates being felt by consumers across the country. At one point during the interview, Cruz <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cruz-rips-biden-our-enemies-know-biden-is-too-weak-to-do-a-damn-thing-about-their-hostile-intentions">said</a>, “Biden’s administration in just a year is already worse than Jimmy Carter.”</em></p>
<p><em>“I think 2022 is going to be a bloodbath for Democrats,” Cruz said. “It’s not just going to be a wave, it’s going to be a tsunami. I believe Republicans are going to win the House and we’re going to win the Senate. And I think it will be on the order of magnitude of 1994 or 2010.”</em></p></blockquote>
