<p>Eight law enforcement officials were shot on Monday while serving a warrant at a home in Charlotte, North Carolina.</p>
<p>The shooting happened in the area of the 5000 block of Galway Drive when the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which is comprised of several agencies, was serving a warrant. A SWAT team was dispatched the scene to help get control of the situation.</p>
<p>Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said that of the eight who were shot, four were with the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force and four with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, according to <a href="https://www.live5news.com/2024/04/29/report-3-us-marshal-task-force-officers-killed-4-hurt-charlotte-shooting/">WBTV</a>.</p>
<p>The report stated that three were killed, including one who was a federal agent with the U.S. Marshals. One of the five who was injured is a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer who is listed in critical condition.</p>
<p>After the publication of this report, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced that the officer who was in critical condition passed away from his injuries.</p>
<p>“We are very early in the investigation,” he added. “CMPD will lead this investigation, we still have a lot to uncover, a lot of questions that are not answered right now.”</p>
<p>Police said that the scene was clear on Monday evening that the public around the area no longer needed to shelter in place.</p>
<p>The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said that at least one shooting suspect was killed at the scene.</p>
<p>Two other individuals who were in the home were being questioned by law enforcement officials.</p>
<p>The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/29/us-news/police-officers-wounded-in-shooting-near-charlotte/">reported</a> that law enforcement was serving a warrant &#8220;for a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The bravery of our officers that responded to the scene, knowing that they&#8217;re going into gunfire is what I&#8217;ve been saying for many years, is in the face of danger, our people step up,&#8221; Jennings said, adding that this was &#8220;the most tragic [shooting] that I&#8217;ve been involved in.&#8221;</p>
<p>North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper posted on X: &#8220;Our hearts are with the families and co-workers of officers in today’s brutal attack, including two state Department of Adult Correction officers working with the US Marshal’s Task Force who were shot and killed.&#8221;</p>
