On Wednesday, another Republican in the House of Representatives endorsed Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis for president, even though DeSantis has not yet announced his candidacy.
Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, who served with DeSantis from 2013-2018, called on Republicans to get behind the Florida governor.
“America needs a leader who is decisive, respects the Constitution, understands policy, puts family first, and leads by inspiring,” Massie wrote in a statement released by the Never Back Down PAC.
“That’s why I’m endorsing Ron DeSantis for President. I’ve been honored to call Ron DeSantis a friend for over a decade. During the six years we served together in Congress, I witnessed Ron fight for economic freedom, personal liberty, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally limited government.”
“In his congressional office and as Governor, Ron has always surrounded himself with capable people who share his principles,” Massie continued. “Ron knows that putting America first means putting Americans first, not corporations, and he’s never backed down from a fight with the big guys in pharma, agriculture, and tech. If we make the right choices, America’s best days are in front of us. Let’s pick a proven energetic leader who can get us there. Let’s choose Ron DeSantis for President.”

In the past, Massie was highly critical of former House Speaker Paul Ryan, saying he did not give legislators time to examine and debate bills in the House. Last week, Massie had an open confrontation with hard-Left Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) regarding gun control, during which Massie made the case for having better security in schools.
Massie’s endorsement of DeSantis comes on the heels of one from Texas Rep. Chip Roy, who said, “America needs a leader who will truly defend her and empower the people against the destructive force of unrestrained government and corporate excess, profligate spending, and woke cultural indoctrination.”
“His style of no-nonsense government and fearless rejection of woke ‘conventional wisdom’ has demonstrated an appeal to all of us based on our shared values as Americans,” the statement continued. “He strives to unite us again as one people under the banner of freedom and equal opportunity — with the courage to stand athwart the destructive divisiveness of identity politics or the temptation to pander.”

“America has been built upon and defined by the sacrifices of one generation for the next,” the statement concluded. “When Republicans choose our 2024 presidential nominee — whom I intend to support against Joe Biden or any other Democrat candidate — I believe it’s time for a new generation of leadership. It’s time for younger, but proven, leadership to offer America eight solid years of transformational change. It’s time for Ron DeSantis to be President of the United States.”
