An Olympic silver medalist is no longer staying quiet. After MyKayla Skinner&#8217;s former USA Gymnastics teammate, Simone Biles, attacked Riley Gaines this summer, she is not afraid to speak out anymore.
&#8220;We shouldn&#8217;t let transgender men be in women&#8217;s sports. How can you be one of the best athletes in the world and think that it&#8217;s okay for that to happen? They&#8217;re literally not competing because they don&#8217;t want to go up against a man,&#8221; she told The Daily Wire.

Skinner is now calling on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ban transgender athletes.
&#8220;I hope that they make a change and that it does happen. Because it&#8217;s not fair, it&#8217;s not right. It&#8217;s just sad to think that we even have to vote on this. Us women work so hard, especially being in the Olympics,&#8221; Skinner added.
The IOC, under its new president, <a href="https://x.com/iocmedia/status/1938227406805880959?s=20">Kirsty Coventry</a>, created a Working Group on the protection of the female category this summer. An IOC spokesperson told The Daily Wire that a final decision on banning men from the women&#8217;s category has yet to be reached.
&#8220;An update was given by the IOC’s Director of Health, Medicine and Science to the IOC Members during the recent IOC commission meetings,&#8221; the spokesperson said. &#8220;The working group is continuing its discussions on this topic and no decisions have been taken yet. Further information will be provided in due course.”
Skinner said having discussions on whether men should compete in the Olympics against women is &#8220;mind-blowing.&#8221;
&#8220;It shouldn&#8217;t even be an issue. I couldn&#8217;t imagine having to compete against a male and getting medals stripped,&#8221; The Olympian continued. &#8220;Especially having a daughter, she&#8217;s gonna be raised in this next generation, and I want her to have an even playing field like I had. Like we all had on the Olympic team.&#8221;
During the 2024 Olympics, the IOC dismissed gender tests for Imane Khelif as not legitimate. The Algerian boxer came under scrutiny for competing in the women&#8217;s category, winning gold, even though an independent analysis in 2023 revealed a &#8220;male karyotype,&#8221; according to <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2025/06/01/imane-khelif-medical-report-proves-biological-male/">The Telegraph</a>.
Since then, other sports organizations have required sex testing to ensure fair competition. In August, <a href="https://worldboxing.org/world-boxing-confirms-mandatory-sex-testing-will-apply-in-the-female-category-at-the-inaugural-world-boxing-championships-2025/">World Boxing</a> announced mandatory sex testing for boxers wanting to compete in their competitions. Khelif has refused to take the test and appealed the rule. He hasn&#8217;t boxed in a World Boxing event since the testing was put in place.
&#8220;Watching the last Olympics, it was just so crazy that we&#8217;re experiencing this,&#8221; Skinner said. &#8220;We&#8217;re watching it, we&#8217;re witnessing it, it just shouldn&#8217;t be happening. We shouldn&#8217;t have to be competing against trans biological men. Girls need to have a safe place. That&#8217;s what I want for my daughter and the next generation to have.&#8221;

Coventry, the first female IOC President, wasn&#8217;t in power in 2024, but since being elected, she has said she wants fair competition.
“There was overwhelming support from all of the Members who were present here, and those who were able to share with us before they left, that we should <a href="https://www.olympics.com/ioc/news/ioc-president-coventry-announces-two-working-groups-to-strengthen-future-host-election-process-and-protection-of-the-female-category">protect the female category,</a>&#8221; Coventry said.

While the IOC deliberates, Skinner wants more athletes to publicly state that men should not be in women&#8217;s sports.
&#8220;I would love to see more athletes, my Olympic teammates, Team USA National Team members, join this fight and stand up, because I didn&#8217;t have to go through this. If this is something that you&#8217;re really passionate about, just find the courage deep down inside, and just speak up.&#8221;
It took Skinner longer than she would like to admit to speak out on this issue. She was scared of being canceled, but said the amount of support she&#8217;s received has been overwhelmingly more than hate.
&#8220;I feel like I can finally use my platform to do something good. That&#8217;s the most important thing to me. I hope by showing that, it will really give all these athletes the courage to do the same.&#8221;
The IOC told The Daily Wire that no date has been set to vote on a transgender ban.

What makes a crowd at a Scott Wiener event &#8220;boo&#8221; in disgust? A woman saying that a man who identifies as a woman is not, in fact, a woman.
&#8220;They are men,&#8221; Tish Hyman, the woman at the center of a viral video calling for men to stay out of women&#8217;s locker rooms, told the crowd Monday night. Hyman flew across the state for Wiener&#8217;s first appearance as a congressional candidate. He was doing an interview with Mission Local, a news outlet in San Francisco, in front of a sold-out crowd.

&#8220;As a lesbian woman who was attacked in a woman&#8217;s locker room at Gold&#8217;s Gym this week by a self-identifying trans woman with a documented history of domestic violence, I&#8217;m deeply concerned about women&#8217;s safety,&#8221; Hyman told Wiener as he opened the floor up for questions.
&#8220;What would you say to women who are seeking assurance that their safety will be protected from men who, by California law, can self-identify as women in women-only spaces?&#8221; Hyman asked.
The state senator, who has taken no action to protect women from men in any space, replied in part: &#8220;Trans women are women.&#8221;
Hyman vehemently disagreed, and the crowd erupted in boos.
&#8220;Trans women are women,&#8221; someone yelled at Hyman from across the room.
Wiener attempted to answer Hyman&#8217;s question on how he would protect women.
&#8220;I mean, I want everyone to be safe and we have trans people &#8212; both men and women who are men and women&#8230;&#8221; Wiener said.
It&#8217;s not the answer Hyman wanted to hear. The leftist crowd turned on Hyman, who still made her points clear to Wiener. She said it&#8217;s the first of many conversations she hopes to have with him to make California safer.
&#8220;I see a lot of these bills that are dangerous for women and young children. I am telling you as a woman first and foremost, this is dangerous. We need your help because you&#8217;re in the office,&#8221; Hyman said.
Wiener claimed he appreciates Hyman&#8217;s point of view, but &#8220;trans women are also brutalized in this country.&#8221;
Hyman boldly told the state senator in response to his statement that trans women aren&#8217;t women. She said it as clearly as she has in every video she&#8217;s made since being catapulted into the fight for women&#8217;s rights.
One of the trans-identifying men Hyman exposed in her videos for allegedly harassing her in the women&#8217;s locker room had a lengthy rap sheet of charges, including domestic violence. The Daily Wire obtained arrest <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-man-at-center-of-viral-gym-video-once-slammed-ex-wifes-head-into-toilet">records</a> for Grant Freeman, which said he slammed his ex-wife into a toilet seat.
She told that to the crowd, too. Crickets. Before she left the venue, she let Wiener know she thought he was doing nothing to protect women.
Hyman said after her exchange with Wiener that she wants women to know she will not stop fighting.
&#8220;Collectively, we have the strength to win this together,&#8221; she said.

There is just a single player in professional women&#8217;s soccer who cares about keeping it a women&#8217;s league. Jennifer Sey wants to change that.
After Angel City FC player Elizabeth Eddy was ganged up on by her female teammates for pushing for the league to adopt strict gender rules, prominent voices are putting up money to ensure that players like Eddy have support.
Jennifer Sey, the founder and CEO of XX-XY Athletics, pledged $10,000 to the next NWSL player who stood up for keeping the pro women&#8217;s league for women. Then someone anonymously added $5,000 to up the ante. Then OutKick founder Clay Travis said he&#8217;d double that, bringing the pot to <a href="https://x.com/ClayTravis/status/1986253438603456737">$30,000</a>.
&#8220;I want to encourage more athletes to speak out,&#8221; Sey told The Daily Wire on Thursday. The former Team USA gymnast said her $30,000 won&#8217;t mean anything to a player who is raking in millions from a company like Nike, but most players in women&#8217;s soccer aren&#8217;t in that position.
&#8220;You know the average salary is around $50,000 a year. That&#8217;s not a lot of money,&#8221; Sey said. &#8220;If I can offer $30,000 and take away the fear of cancellation and the fear of losing other endorsement deals and almost double their annual salary, that feels like a worthwhile incentive to put on the table.&#8221;

Travis, an outspoken advocate for women&#8217;s sports, echoed Sey&#8217;s sentiment.
&#8220;The reality is we need more brave professional female athletes,&#8221; Travis told The Daily Wire. &#8220;I am fortunate to have resources to support the things I say. I understand the fear of cancellation is real. The sponsors dropping you is real. I&#8217;ve always been willing to put my money where my mouth is. I hope to do it more going forward.&#8221;
Travis and Sey said players have reached out already in the last 24 hours since Sey made the call to action Wednesday.
Sey, the founder of the only clothing brand that openly stands for women&#8217;s sports being for only women, said it&#8217;s going to take someone bold to make a statement.
&#8220;No one is going to raise their hand and do this unless they really believe in it and they really believe that it&#8217;s necessary to keep women&#8217;s sports female,&#8221; Sey said. &#8220;Because my $30,000 payment is nothing compared probably to the future cancellation they still might endure, right?&#8221;
Sey is no stranger to cancel culture.
When she spoke out about gymnasts being abused nearly two decades ago, she got pushback. The same thing happened when Sey said she wanted schools to open during the COVID lockdowns. It got uncomfortable, but Sey did it anyway.
Sey knew she was doing the right thing when she started XX-XY Athletics a year and a half ago to change the culture around women&#8217;s sports. Now she wants to put that organization behind courageous athletes.
&#8220;You will have my support, my team&#8217;s support and all the athletes on our roster, which is almost 300 athletes at this point, and you&#8217;ll get $30,000 and you will also know that you did the right thing.&#8221;
&#8220;Brands play a role in normalizing ideas,&#8221; Sey said. &#8220;We are standing up for reality.&#8221;
Elizabeth Eddy burst onto the scene of the fight to save women&#8217;s sports in October after she penned a <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/27/opinion/national-womens-soccer-league-must-adopt-gender-standards-to-keep-growing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">piece in the New York Post</a> calling for stricter gender guidelines in the NWSL.
Her Angel City FC teammates called her &#8220;transphobic.&#8221; The team captain, Sarah Gorden, said Eddy&#8217;s article was racist.
&#8220;There is nothing racist about saying women&#8217;s sports are for women,&#8221; Sey said.
Eddy said in her <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KOU0NgKkGQ">response</a> to her teammates, &#8220;responsible people can disagree on this topic, but there is no need to go to bullying and name calling.&#8221;
But with the reality of what Eddy is experiencing, how will women be encouraged to speak up?
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s a slow and steady climb, it will happen slowly then all at once,&#8221; Sey said. &#8220;Every time something happens in the world that alerts people to the issue, more people join the cause. We&#8217;re going to hit a critical mass and no one is going to care anymore if they get called a bigot or a racist because they know it&#8217;s false.&#8221;
For Sey, even small progress is a major victory.
&#8220;If I can get two players from the National Women&#8217;s Soccer League, that&#8217;s two more than we had two weeks ago.&#8221;

Texas is suing U.S. Masters Swimming over its policy allowing trans-identifying males to compete in women&#8217;s events, The Daily Wire can first report.
The lawsuit, which Attorney General Ken Paxton filed Thursday, comes after an investigation determined the amateur sports organization &#8220;engaged in false, deceptive, and misleading practices by allowing men to compete in women&#8217;s events,&#8221; Paxton&#8217;s office said in a press release.

U.S. Masters Swimming holds competitions for adult swimmers across the country and has about 60,000 members.
In May, Paxton launched an investigation into U.S. Masters Swimming after a trans-identifying male swimmer blew his female competitors away at this year’s Spring Nationals in San Antonio.
The 47-year-old man who identifies as a woman, Ana Caldas, won five women’s events, sparking angry calls for U.S. Masters Swimming to change its rules.
Paxton said the new lawsuit aims to hold U.S. Masters Swimming &#8220;accountable to the women that it has harmed and the consumers that it has deceived&#8221; as his team continues to &#8220;fight to protect the integrity of women&#8217;s sports.&#8221;
&#8220;U.S. Masters Swimming&#8217;s insane policy of allowing men to participate in women&#8217;s competitions is both deeply unfair to female competitors and unlawful,&#8221; Paxton said in a statement.
&#8220;The organization has cowered to radical activists pushing gender warfare, and it has deprived female participants of the opportunity to succeed at the highest levels by letting men win countless events,&#8221; the attorney general said.
The suit highlights the organization&#8217;s &#8220;past false, deceptive, and misleading practices of representing that its women&#8217;s sports would be exclusively for females to participate in and win, only to turn around and steal awards and recognitions for women by giving them to men competing in women&#8217;s events,&#8221; Paxton&#8217;s office said.
After the Texas investigation was launched, U.S. Masters Swimming updated its policy.
The organization <a href="https://www.usms.org/volunteer-central/policy-and-governance/usms-policies/transgender-swimmer-inclusion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously</a> allowed trans-identifying males to compete on the women’s team as long as they had been on estrogen for a year and had testosterone below a certain level. Males who did not meet these requirements were also allowed to swim in the women’s races, but their performance did not count in the competition.
On July 1, U.S. Masters Swimming enacted a new “interim eligibility <a href="https://www.usms.org/volunteer-central/policy-and-governance/usms-policies/interim-eligibility-policy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy</a>,” which bars trans-identifying males from competing in the women’s category, but they may still swim in the women’s races.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, who put U.S. Masters Swimming on notice just days before the Texas lawsuit was filed, said the new policy “purports to protect women’s sports, but it does not get the job done.”
“This is not acceptable. It does not fly with Florida law,” Uthmeier said at a press conference on Tuesday.

U.S. Masters must “quickly certify in writing” that they will ensure no men participate with women or face legal action, Uthmeier said.
Besides fairness in competition, another concern is safety in the locker rooms, the Florida attorney general said.
“We will not tolerate it. We will hold you accountable if you are going to endanger our women and girls,” Uthmeier said.
“We will always fight to protect women and girls from being subjected to men trying to compete in female sports — it’s our moral obligation to do so,” Uthmeier said in a statement to The Daily Wire.
U.S. Masters is based in Sarasota, Florida and has several upcoming events in the state.
Several athletic organizations have backed down and changed their policies after President Donald Trump, surrounded by smiling young girls wearing sports uniforms, signed an order banning trans-identifying males from girls’ sports.
One of those was the NCAA, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ncaa-backs-down-changes-transgender-athlete-policy-after-trump-order" target="_blank" rel="noopener">changed</a> its policy to ban trans-identifying males on women’s teams less than 24 hours after Trump’s order.
The NCAA attracted controversy for its swimming competitions when trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas tied with the University of Kentucky’s Riley Gaines, who has become an advocate for women’s sports. Prior to that, Thomas had placed first in the 500 freestyle at the 2022 NCAA Division I Women&#8217;s Swimming and Diving Championships.

The venue for a Santa Fe event celebrating Title IX and girls&#8217; sports canceled at the last minute, accusing organizers of misrepresenting what they claimed was a &#8220;partisan political event&#8221; and leaving them scrambling.
On Sunday, the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute canceled Independent Women&#8217;s Forum&#8217;s &#8220;Her Game. Her Legacy.&#8221; <a href="https://www.hergameherlegacy.com">event</a>, which was <a href="https://www.iwf.org/2025/06/17/independent-women-to-host-title-ix-anniversary-event-in-new-mexico-celebrating-womens-sports/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">scheduled</a> to take place at the venue about 24 hours later.
The venue posted on Facebook that the event&#8217;s description as a &#8220;Celebration for Athletes and Families&#8221; was &#8220;fundamentally misleading as the event described today in media reports is a partisan political event.&#8221;
The venue also said it would be &#8220;unable to accommodate&#8221; the event&#8217;s &#8220;levels of security&#8221; and press conference, claiming the Independent Women&#8217;s Forum did not disclose these requirements.
&#8220;As much as we support free speech, we want to make it clear that SFFMI is in disagreement with the message and intent of this particular event,&#8221; the venue said.
The venue&#8217;s abrupt cancelation came after a New Mexico news outlet <a href="https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/trump-transgender-policies-driving-state-bus-tour-that-starts-in-santa-fe/article_f55d5ebd-aaae-4997-a14d-68ec0cf77075.html">published</a> a story about the women&#8217;s sports event that also said New Mexico has been &#8220;doubling down on protecting transgender rights.&#8221;
Independent Women&#8217;s Forum said they had no idea their event was canceled until they saw the venue&#8217;s Facebook post.
The group plans to sue the venue.
&#8220;This is not a rally. This is not any type of political event. It&#8217;s a non-partisan, non-political celebration,&#8221; Beth Parlato, senior legal advisor at Independent Women’s Law Center, told The Daily Wire.
&#8220;We had a contract. It is a nine-page contract, a legal and binding contract, and it&#8217;s pretty solid,&#8221; she said. &#8220;They don&#8217;t agree with our message, so they have canceled us. And it&#8217;s illegal. So in our opinion, our legal opinion, they have breached the contract. They have discriminated against Independent Women. And they have violated our First Amendment rights by acknowledging that they don&#8217;t agree with our message, so they&#8217;re not allowing us on their property. So we will file lawsuits.&#8221;
&#8220;Our intention is to serve them with a lawsuit because we&#8217;re not letting them get away with it. We did not do all of this to get canceled by a small group of people who chooses not to support girls. So it&#8217;s unconscionable what they&#8217;re doing,&#8221; Parlato said.
The group had brought a massive amount of resources to Santa Fe for the event including more than 20 staff, a pink carpet for athletes to walk down, face painters and bounce houses for children, and much more.
Meanwhile, they also had their registered speakers and guests and had been marketing the event heavily for about two weeks, said Victoria Coley, the group&#8217;s vice president of communications.
&#8220;They&#8217;re not just canceling our event. They are canceling little girls. They are betraying girls and women, female athletes. They&#8217;re canceling all of that,&#8221; Coley said.
However, thanks to the general manager of the hotel where Independent Women&#8217;s Forum staff was staying, the event now has a new venue and is still full speed ahead.
He met the group in the lobby and asked what he could do to help.
The event is still scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m., but <a href="https://www.iwf.org/2025/06/22/targeted-slandered-but-not-silenced-independent-women-relocates-new-mexico-title-ix-celebration-after-discrimination-and-falsehoods/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">will now be held</a> at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, less than a mile from the original venue.
Monday is the 53rd anniversary of Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination at schools receiving federal funding.
The event also kicks off a bus tour celebrating women&#8217;s sports that will visit all 33 New Mexico counties.

For the past week, Americans have been glued to an ongoing social media exchange between Olympic legend Simone Biles and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines.
The confrontation began when Gaines shared a photo of a Minnesota high school girls&#8217; softball championship team whose star player was reportedly a boy, prompting Biles to attack Gaines on social media, calling her &#8220;truly sick&#8221; and a &#8220;sore loser&#8221; who was campaigning against transgender athletes simply because she had lost a race.
Gaines fired back, “If Simone’s inclusive dream came true, she would have zero Olympic medals and no one would even know who she is.”
The thread rocketed across timelines, not only because it was fiery, but because it issued a referendum on manhood. It asked every male coach, father, and teammate: Are you strong enough to sit this one out so women can compete, or will you weaponize your strength to win medals never meant for you?
In a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-the-left-hijacked-masculinity-and-why-thats-bad-for-society?author=Gates+Garcia&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=How+The+Left+Hijacked+Masculinity+%E2%80%94+And+Why+That%E2%80%99s+Bad+For+Society" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent piece</a> for The Daily Wire, I wrote about the left’s slow, hostile co-opting of the word “masculinity.” But it’s not enough to identify what went wrong. In order to help save American men — and American society — we need to ask ourselves: what should men get right?
The Biles-Gaines saga gives us an opportunity to answer that question.
Riley Gaines has fought valiantly to keep men out of women’s sports, as have many other brave female athletes. But this saga should cause all American men to ask themselves: Where were the men in this situation? Where were the fathers telling their sons, “However you identify, you may not line up in the girls’ starting blocks,” or telling their daughters, “If anyone tries to silence your voice, Dad’s voice will echo louder”?
Perhaps the men were on the sidelines because for years, feminists and the left have told them that being aggressive in defense of what was right was “toxic.” Maybe they were worried that speaking out would make them seem dangerous — one of the worst things they can do.
This is a fundamental misunderstanding of what it means to be a man. True masculinity is a form of strength that heals instead of harms — dangerous on purpose, but disciplined by love.
Healthy masculinity begins with a posture, not a press release — a posture that leans into risk so others can rest easy. Walk into any volunteer fire station at 3:00 a.m. and you’ll find fathers who left warm beds to chase a propane smell no one else noticed, just in case. They aren’t reckless —  they’re responsible. They understand what G.K. Chesterton meant when he <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/94304-the-true-soldier-fights-not-because-he-hates-what-is" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>, “The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
Translation: Real manhood is the antidote to cultural decay, not its cause. Or, as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/crain-and-company" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Crain &amp; Co. </a>co-host David Cone said recently on my podcast, <a href="https://wethepeoplemedia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">We The People</a>, “Toxic masculinity is a contradiction of terms. You can’t have the modifier of a word be the antithesis of the word.”
True masculinity can never be toxic, because it’s covenantal: it binds itself to duties no government can assign and no ideology can erase. Scripture sketches the outline — husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the Church — and history fills in the colors, from St. Joseph guiding Mary into exile to Sgt. William Carney grabbing the colors at Fort Wagner and refusing to let them fall. Chesterton called it “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Chesterton-Romance-Orthodoxy-Making-1874-1908/dp/0199582017" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Romance of Orthodoxy</a>” — the adventure of guarding what is good. That romance includes a listening ear. As psychologist Jordan Peterson notes, “a harmless man is not a good man. A good man is a very, very dangerous man who has that under voluntary control.”
So, how do we ensure that men understand and inhabit this balance? We start at home.
A 2024 <a href="https://bmcpsychology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40359-024-02182-x" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meta-analysis in BMC Psychology</a> found that children with engaged fathers show higher emotional resilience and academic grit. Yet engagement means more than hugs. It means clearly explaining to children the difference between right and wrong, and raising them to do what’s right. And of course, it means boldly, unapologetically modeling what choosing the right looks like.
When dads speak with that mix of empathy and iron, cultural confusion suddenly looks more like noise than destiny.
Sons who see their dads get up to feed a baby brother or sister so mom can sleep will grow up to be teenagers who step between a bully and a fellow classmate, and then men who shovel their widowed neighbor’s driveway without boasting about it on Instagram. Or perhaps even men who fight to protect women&#8217;s sports.
Nothing can replace fathers, but they’re not the only ones who can inculcate real masculinity in young men. A high school athletic director can set policy that preserves female divisions without waiting on Congress. A pastor can preach Ephesians 5 (“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church…) and then host a father-daughter self-defense night in the fellowship hall. Each act is a brick in a wall that tells our daughters, you’re safe here.
Notice what’s missing from that blueprint: self-flagellation. True masculinity doesn’t apologize for being strong; it apologizes for being selfish. It’s the difference between a freight train hauling relief supplies through the night and one that plows through a residential crossing because the engineer craves a thrill. Conservatives should celebrate the power while condemning the derailment. The Centre for Male Psychology calls this “<a href="https://www.centreformalepsychology.com/male-psychology-magazine-listings/the-provider-role-indicates-that-masculinity-is-prosocial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pro-social masculinity</a>,” but your grandpa called it being a gentleman.
The same culture that coined “toxic masculinity” is starving for the genuine article. Simone Biles has earned her medals, and Riley Gaines has earned her scars. Now the question is, will American men earn back their reputation as protectors?
If they do — if we do — the next generation of daughters won’t need to tweet for fairness. They’ll be too busy celebrating it on a podium their fathers kept level.

Verónica Garcia, 17, snagged his second state title in two years when he won the girls&#8217; 2A 400-meter race on Saturday.
In video of the race, Garcia can be seen crossing the finish line with a healthy lead over the second place runner.
Garcia, who runs on the girls&#8217; team at East Valley High School, won the same race last year with a record-smashing time of 55.59, close to his time this year, 55.75.

Garcia was heckled and booed by the crowd both before and after the race.
One man wearing a shirt that read &#8220;Save women&#8217;s sports&#8221; <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/high-school/wa-transgender-athlete-veronica-garcia-repeats-as-state-track-champion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> shouted “Let’s go girls!” and “girls’ race!”
The crowd also reportedly cheered for every female runner during the medal ceremony, but booed when Garcia was announced as the winner.

After the race, Garcia lashed out at his critics, saying said the heckling made him &#8220;angry&#8221; and want to win even more.
“I’ll be honest, I kind of expect it,” Garcia <a href="https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/high-school/wa-transgender-athlete-veronica-garcia-repeats-as-state-track-champion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Seattle Times. “But it maybe didn’t have their intended effect. It made me angry, but not angry as in, I wanted to give up, but angry as in, I’m going to push.&#8221;
“I’m going to put this in the most PG-13 way, I’m just going to say it’s a damn shame they don’t have anything else better to do. I hope they get a life. But oh well. It just shows who they are as people.”
He previously placed near the bottom when he ran for the boys&#8217; team several years ago. In October 2022, Garcia ran in the boys’ 5,000-meter junior varsity race and <a href="https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/meet/209254/results/874400" target="_blank" rel="noopener">placed</a> 164th out of 172.
Riley Gaines, the former University of Kentucky swimmer whose 2022 loss to trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas helped ignite the battle to keep men out of women’s sports, praised the girl who placed second behind Garcia on Saturday.
&#8220;Congratulations to Lauren Matthew, the real Washington State Champion in the girls&#8217; 400m,&#8221; Gaines posted on X.
In another post, Matthew appeared holding a sign that read “Washington State Track and Field Real Girls 2A 400m Champion.”
In 2007, Washington state became the first state to pass legislation allowing trans-identifying males to participate in women&#8217;s sports. However, state law now conflicts with President Donald Trump&#8217;s executive order banning federal funds for schools that allow males in girls&#8217; sports.
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, which governs high school sports in the state, still allows trans-identifying students to compete on the team of the opposite sex.
In December, a group of 14 school districts proposed changing the policy to keep males off female teams, but ultimately, no action was taken.

A California high school girl track and field athlete didn’t let the fact that a boy had stolen her championship deter her, and waited until the boy stepped off the podium to step up herself, stand up on the podium, and claim her rightful place as the winner.
Reese Hogan, 16, from Crean Lutheran High School, finished second place in the triple jump behind AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley, a boy who claims to be a girl, at the CIF Southern Section Finals on Saturday. Hernandez jumped 41 feet, four inches, more than four feet farther than Hogan’s 37 feet, 2 inches. To make the difference clearer, third-place finisher Sofia Jara’s 36 feet, five inches was only 9 inches behind Hogan, and fourth-place finisher Kezia Gavlak jumped 35 feet, 11 inches, only six inches behind Jara. “Hernandez currently holds the state&#8217;s top marks in long jump (20-1.5) and triple jump (41-4) in girls track and field,” Sports Illustrated <a href="https://www.si.com/high-school/california/transgender-athlete-wins-cif-track-and-field-titles-in-girls-high-school-events-01jvmqrckp7b">noted</a>.
After Hernandez stepped off the podium, Hogan seized the moment, walked onto the first-place spot, smiled, and proudly posed for a picture.
“When the boy got off the podium, she assumed her rightful spot as champion. The crowd erupts with applause. THIS is the way. Congrats to Reese Hogan, the REAL champ!!!” women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines cheered.

On May 10, at the CIF Southern Section Division 3 Prelims at Yorba Linda High School, Hogan joined other girl athletes who donned t-shirts that said, “Protect Girls Sports.” Officials at the track meet reportedly made the girls change their shirts.
The day before, JSerra Catholic High School, Orange Lutheran High School, and Crean Lutheran High School wrote a letter to the CIF in which they stated:

The consequences of this Policy will be felt this weekend as CIF&#8217;s state semi-final competitions for track and field events take place. If their respective regular-season performances are any indication, the male student will trounce his female competitors, depriving them of opportunities for advancement in tournaments, state championships, performance records, and potentially even college scholarships. Some of our female athletes have indicated they will not compete in their events to protest the injustice of this situation. This result makes it clear that the CIF Gender Identity Policy deprives women of the equal opportunities required by Title IX. Worse still, in some sports, the CIF Gender Identity Policy jeopardizes the physical safety of female student athletes.</blockquote>

USA Fencing Chairman Damien Lehfeldt appeared to throw up a middle finger in a social media post ahead of a congressional hearing where he was to be questioned on keeping men out of women&#8217;s sports.
On Instagram, Lehfeldt posted a photo of himself showing his middle finger extended with the caption, &#8220;Game day.&#8221; The post was highlighted by the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, which posted screenshots.

It is unclear whether the USA Fencing chairman&#8217;s gesture was intended to be profane, and if so, whether it was directed at female athletes who object to competing with men or Republican lawmakers on the Oversight Committee.
Lehfeldt clarified later that he, for whatever reason, cropped his other finger out of the photo posted to Instagram. The uncropped photo <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/usa-fencing-clarifies-chairmans-photo-which-caused-frenzy-before-hearing">shared</a> with Fox News showed Lehfeldt holding up two fingers.
Lehfeldt was subpoenaed to <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/hearing/unfair-play-keeping-men-out-of-womens-sports/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appear</a> before the House Oversight Committee&#8217;s DOGE subcommittee Wednesday afternoon.
Also testifying was Stephanie Turner, a female fencer who was disqualified from a Maryland tournament in March for taking a knee and refusing to compete against a trans-identifying male opponent. She ultimately stepped away from fencing altogether.

“I want to thank God for trusting me with this mission to fight for female exclusive sports and putting me in a place to effectively protest,” Turner <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/female-fencer-speaks-out-after-shes-expelled-for-protesting-male-opponent" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Daily Wire at the time.
Previously, Lehfeldt has repeatedly posted in support of trans-identifying males competing in women&#8217;s fencing.
When a social media follower asked him, &#8220;Are you okay with cis females being at a disadvantage?&#8221; Lehfeldt responded simply, &#8220;Yeah.&#8221;
In an article on his blog, The Fencing Coach, Lehfeldt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/usa-fencing-chairs-pro-trans-manifesto-surfaces-after-woman-dqed-for-refusing-to-fence-male" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> “transgender women are women” and lectured female athletes that giving trans-identifying male athletes &#8220;a sense of belonging and a will to live is more powerful than medals and competitive glory.&#8221;
The USA Fencing chairman also appears to have posted his email response to a woman who criticized allowing trans-identifying men in women&#8217;s fencing, going on a bizarre rant to the woman, named Dorothy, in which he referenced &#8220;The Wizard of Oz&#8221; and told her the only wizard who could help her is &#8220;of the grand wizard variety.&#8221;
Payton McNabb, a former high school volleyball player who was seriously injured when a trans-identifying volleyball player spiked a ball at her head, also testified during Wednesday&#8217;s hearing.
Last month, USA Fencing said it might have to change its policy to bar trans-identifying males from women&#8217;s fencing.
&#8220;In the event that USA Fencing is guided to change its current stance in accordance with oversight bodies or federal legislation, the new policy states athletes competing in USA Fencing-sanctioned tournaments must compete according to their biological sex,&#8221; the organization <a href="https://www.usafencing.org/news/2025/april/18/usa-fencing-board-prepares-for-potential-changes-from-governing-bodies-on-transgender-and-non-binary-athlete-eligibility-policy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement.
&#8220;The policy will be implemented only if and when one or more governing bodies require these updates,&#8221; USA Fencing added.

The professional disc golf athlete who walked off the course during a Nashville competition on Friday over her concerns about a trans-identifying male player told The Daily Wire she was warned against speaking out.
When Abigail Wilson stepped up to compete at the Disc Golf Pro Tour&#8217;s Music City Open on Friday morning, she cocked her arm back to throw, but then suddenly lowered her disc, turned around, and walked away from the tee area.
&#8220;Females must be protected in our division,&#8221; Wilson said as she walked away. &#8220;This is unfair. I refuse to play.&#8221;
She told The Daily Wire after the competition that she had raised concerns a day earlier, and was reprimanded for misgendering her competition. The trans-identifying male disc golfer, Natalie Ryan, was set to play at the same tee time as Wilson in the women&#8217;s division. Ryan has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/another-womens-sport-sees-trans-athletes-rise-to-top-and-competitors-are-speaking-out" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sparked</a> controversy since at least 2022 when he <a href="https://www.outkick.com/culture/biological-male-is-starting-to-dominate-womens-disc-golf-but-competitors-mostly-stay-quiet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defeated</a> the world&#8217;s number one ranked female competitor, Kristin Tattar.

&#8220;They did a terrible job of keeping us safe during the event when this threat was called in,&#8221; Wilson told The Daily Wire. &#8220;I said, &#8216;Well, it is a very unpleasant thing that all of us women have to play with him.&#8217; After I said the word &#8216;him,&#8217; this Disc Golf staff member told me that if I misgender him again, I will be penalized and removed from the tour, and he&#8217;s going to pretend he didn&#8217;t hear me say that.&#8221;
Wilson said staff also assured her that the event would have police, security, and bag checks, but she saw none of that when she arrived, and she was allowed in without showing her credentials.
&#8220;There were zero security precautions,&#8221; she said.
Jeff Spring, CEO and Director of the Disc Golf Pro Tour said they did have security on site, including an on-duty police officer, plain clothes security staff, and armed security guards, and they did conduct bag checks for spectators. Wilson was &#8220;cleared through our spectator entrance and recognized as an approved player upon arrival,&#8221; he said.
Spring also said that the Disc Golf Pro Tour &#8220;supports Abigail’s right to protest and have her voice heard.&#8221;
&#8220;There is no consequence for Abigail’s protest today, as she violated no rules or policies,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We encourage all players to do what they think is right. Abigail is welcome to compete on the same playing field as all other players and we wish her the best in her young career.&#8221;
Wilson previously said she assumes she will no longer be welcomed to play in Disc Golf Pro Tour competitions, the highest level of disc golf, but she does not regret her decision to walk away on Friday.
&#8220;I couldn&#8217;t keep putting my head down,&#8221; she told The Daily Wire. &#8220;I like to say that I throw plastic at metal chains for a living, and it&#8217;s not worth any of this. We shouldn&#8217;t have to deal with this as women, as professionals.&#8221;
&#8220;Today I most likely ended my career and that is okay because this is bigger than me,&#8221; Wilson <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DICNtTLP0r_/?igsh=MWVxd3UyemlqcDR5bg%3D%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on social media after walking off the competition.
&#8220;I have worked so hard to get to this point to play on the DGPT, but the sacrifice of my career and my hard work is worth it if it means I can make a difference for other women, daughters, nieces, and the future of our sport,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If you feel how wrong it is to have biological males be competing in female protected divisions in sports, now is the time to speak up and stand your ground.&#8221;
Spring, the Disc Golf Pro Tour director said any changes to the sport&#8217;s transgender participation policy will likely be derived from changes to International Olympic Committee policy and state and federal law.

A female fencer is speaking out after she was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/video-female-fencer-booted-from-tournament-after-refusing-to-compete-against-male-opponent?topStoryPosition=undefined" target="_blank" rel="noopener">disqualified from a tournament in Maryland</a> for taking a knee and refusing to compete against a transgender-identifying male opponent.
Stephanie Turner, 31, was black-carded and booted from a tournament this past weekend for refusing to compete against Redmond Sullivan, who is male and identifies as transgender. Sullivan formerly competed against males and was permitted by USA Fencing to compete in the women&#8217;s tournament, the organization <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/video-female-fencer-booted-from-tournament-after-refusing-to-compete-against-male-opponent?topStoryPosition=undefined" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> to The Daily Wire.
“I want to thank God for trusting me with this mission to fight for female exclusive sports and putting me in a place to effectively protest,&#8221; Turner told The Daily Wire in a statement.
&#8220;I also want to add that I am grateful to the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) for their encouragement and support,&#8221; she added. &#8220;They have helped me and so many other women who have been put in this unfair and confusing situation.”
ICONS on Wednesday <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/video-female-fencer-booted-from-tournament-after-refusing-to-compete-against-male-opponent?topStoryPosition=undefined" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted video</a> of Turner&#8217;s protest, which quickly went viral on X.
<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/womens-fencer-reveals-why-she-refused-face-transgender-opponent-accepting-punishment-backlash" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Speaking</a> to Fox News Digital, Turner explained that she did not know Sullivan was in the same tournament, and tries to steer clear of competitions that allow males. The night before the bout, though, she recalled seeing that she was facing Redmond, a male.
&#8220;From there I said, ‘Okay, let’s do it. I&#8217;m going to take the knee,&#8221; Turner said. &#8220;I knew what I had to do because USA Fencing had not been listening to women&#8217;s objections regarding [its gender eligibility policy].&#8221;
Turner said that when she took a knee, Redmond, out of confusion, confronted her, and eventually told Turner that he has support from the organization.
&#8220;Redmond was under the impression that I was going to start fencing,&#8221; Turner recalled. &#8220;So when I took the knee, I looked at the ref and I said, ‘I’m sorry, I cannot do this. I am a woman, and this is a man, and this is a women&#8217;s tournament. And I will not fence this individual.'&#8221;
&#8220;Redmond didn&#8217;t hear me, and he comes up to me, and he thinks that I may be hurt, or he doesn&#8217;t understand what&#8217;s happening. He asks, ‘Are you okay?’ And I said, ‘I’m sorry. I have much love and respect for you, but I will not fence you,'&#8221; she continued.
&#8220;Redmond says to me, ‘Well you know, there is a member on the board of directors here who supports me, and there is a policy that acknowledges me as a woman, so I am allowed to fence, and you will get black-carded,’ and I said, &#8216;I know.'&#8221;
Turner said when she found out she was facing off against Redmond, she knew she had to &#8220;give it to God.&#8221;
&#8220;If this person shows up to my event and is on my script, then I would take a knee, and that would be God&#8217;s will,'&#8221; she added.

Female Fencer Speaks Out After She’s Expelled For Protesting Male Opponent

Daily Wire host Matt Walsh testified Tuesday before the California State Assembly on a bill that would ban trans-identifying male students from girls&#8217; sports and bathrooms.
Walsh <a href="https://www.assembly.ca.gov/media-live-event/9124?format=video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slammed</a> Democrat lawmakers, telling them that they are &#8220;predators&#8221; if they force girls to change in locker rooms with boys.
&#8220;The man who identifies as a woman is either deluded and confused or he is a cross-dressing fetishist looking to play out his fantasies in public. In either case, the claim that he&#8217;s making, the claim to womanhood is not true,&#8221; Walsh told Democrats on the California&#8217;s Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports and Tourism.
&#8220;And compelling women to take part in this untruth is evil, perverse, and predatory. If you would use the force of law to compel young girls to use a changing room with a boy, you are yourselves predators,&#8221; Walsh said.

Assembly Bill 844 ultimately failed to make it out of committee by a 6-2 vote on Tuesday.
The bill would have required participation in school sports and bathroom and locker use to be based on a student’s sex, not gender identity. It would have applied to both public K-12 schools and public colleges.
The measure would have reversed a decade-old law in the blue state. Since 2014, California has allowed students to play on the sports teams and use the facilities “consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records.”
Walsh began his remarks at the hearing by saying he was not going to talk about &#8220;fairness&#8221; or &#8220;safety,&#8221; but &#8220;something even more important and even more basic &#8230; It&#8217;s truth.&#8221;
&#8220;Why shouldn&#8217;t men play in women&#8217;s sports? Because they aren&#8217;t women. It isn&#8217;t true. We should not allow men into women&#8217;s sports for the same reason we shouldn&#8217;t go around claiming two plus two equals seven. It&#8217;s just not true. It is a lie,&#8221; Walsh said.
&#8220;Transgenderism is a lie. It is, in fact, the most deranged lie that mankind has ever invented,&#8221; Walsh said.
&#8220;In a free country, nobody should ever be forced to participate in a lie,&#8221; Walsh told the lawmakers. &#8220;Will you side with the truth, a truth so basic that every toddler understands it, or will you disgrace yourselves by denying it? That is your choice to make.&#8221;
Also testifying was Taylor Starling, a high schooler in Riverside who said she was removed from her varsity track and field team and replaced by a trans-identifying male transfer student who was given &#8220;favorable treatment.&#8221;
&#8220;He did not have to attend practice while my team and I were running seven miles a day together,&#8221; the 16-year-old said, adding that she missed out on running in a top cross country invitational, the teen said.
Starling also said that when she tried to speak up by wearing a shirt that said, &#8220;Save Girls Sports,&#8221; her athletic director told her it was &#8220;like wearing a swastika in front of a Jewish person&#8221; and that she would face disciplinary action if she wore it again.
Before the hearing, Walsh noted that “even Gavin Newsom, after sniffing the political wind, now admits it’s unfair — let’s see if California Democrats can stop playing pretend and follow his sudden rediscovery of basic truth.”
On his new podcast, the California governor shocked his fellow Democrats by calling biological men competing in women’s sports “deeply unfair.”
Newsom was asked by his conservative guest Charlie Kirk whether he would “say no to men in female sports.”
“I think it’s an issue of fairness. I completely agree with you on that,” Newsom answered. “It is an issue of fairness — it’s deeply unfair.”
However, when Newsom was lieutenant governor in 2014, he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaA2RIwnXtg&amp;t=437s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">celebrated</a> California’s new law allowing trans-identifying male students to compete in girls’ sports. He celebrated <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/02/24/transgender-rights-california/5795659/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">again</a> when conservative groups failed to repeal that law.
On Friday, Education Secretary Linda McMahon <a href="https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1905278307664576715" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sent</a> Newsom a letter noting his shifting position and warning him to comply with federal law on prohibiting male students in girls’ sports and bathrooms or risk losing federal funding.
Newsom did not make any public comments about Assembly Bill 844.
The bill was introduced by Rep. Bill Essayli, a Republican, who slammed California Democrats ahead of Tuesday’s hearing, saying he expected them to reject his bill.
“I believe the Democrats will double down and reject this bill tomorrow,” Essayli <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/matt-walsh-testify-favor-california-bill-ban-males-from-womens-sports-this-isnt-complicated" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News. “They want to make a public scene out of it so they can be heroes to their progressive base.”
At the hearing, Essayli noted that California K-12 schools receive about $8 billion in federal funding. Essayli added that he believes California will ultimately come into compliance with Title IX, either through the legislative or judicial process.
If not, he said, &#8220;we will not only be failing our female students and athletes, but we are also jeopardizing a critical funding source for our school districts.&#8221;
&#8220;As the governor said, it&#8217;s a question of fairness. And if we&#8217;re Nazis, the governor&#8217;s a Nazi, so you should impeach him,&#8221; Essayli said. &#8220;The governor gets it, 80% of the people get this, and if you double down today and you reaffirm this law, this failed policy, you&#8217;ll get it in the next election.&#8221;
Before lawmakers debated the bill, members of the public lined up at a microphone to voice their opinions. Many female high school athletes, their parents, girls&#8217; coaches, and others showed up to support the bill. Others voiced their opposition, including several trans-identifying men, LGBT activists, and parents of trans-identifying children, many of whom were wearing face masks.
Just before the committee considered Assembly Bill 844, the lawmakers considered another similar bill, AB 89, which would have mandated that the California Interscholastic Federation, which governs high school sports, bar male students from girls’ teams.
That bill also failed in a 7-2 vote.
