Golberg began by attacking the authors&#8217; reliance on &#8220;anonymous sources&#8221; to write the book — and wondered why those people, if they were willing to provide such damning information after the fact, had not been willing to speak up earlier.
&#8220;But my question is, why is this important to know now?&#8221; Goldberg asked — sounding much like Clinton, who during the Benghazi hearings had asked, &#8220;What difference, at this point, does it make?&#8221;
&#8220;It just seems to me, you know, we got a lot of stuff to be concerned about at the moment,&#8221; she continued, suggesting that it no longer mattered that Biden&#8217;s decline was hidden from the American people even thought many of the people responsible for hiding it were still in positions of influence and power.
Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back on the rest of her cohosts, saying that if they wanted to claim they were supportive of a free press, they couldn&#8217;t attack the press when it reported things they didn&#8217;t like.

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; complained during Monday&#8217;s broadcast about former President Joe Biden&#8217;s cancer diagnosis and people who might bring politics into it — immediately after which they injected their own politics by trying to make it about President Donald Trump.
Whoopi Goldberg started the ball rolling, reacting on the show to the news that Biden — who had just appeared on the show a little over a week earlier — had been diagnosed with an advanced and &#8220;aggressive form&#8221; of prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones.
Goldberg laughed off claims that there was any cover-up regarding Biden&#8217;s health or cognitive fitness, and then used a clip from his recent appearance — where former First Lady Jill Biden had been forced to step in and help him answer a question — as proof that he was fine.
She then complained that the new revelation regarding his cancer diagnosis would only &#8220;add fuel to the fire&#8221; for those who already believed that the Bidens had not been telling the truth about his condition. Her assessment was that it was time for everyone to simply &#8220;put politics aside.&#8221;

Goldberg jumped back in to insist it was impossible for Biden to have had cancer while he was president because he would not have been able to hide the treatments from the public.
&#8220;[H]ad this been the case while he was president, there&#8217;s no way you wouldn&#8217;t have known because he would have had to have these treatments. So this is not something he was carrying around or that he was hiding,&#8221; she said.

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; complained about President Donald Trump&#8217;s plan to lower the cost of prescription drugs for Americans — but as Whoopi Goldberg laid out her objections, it appeared as though her main objection was the fact that Trump was doing what Democrats had not been able to do thus far.
Goldberg started off the conversation during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast by asserting that Trump&#8217;s plan was bad because he had not yet specified which drugs he was talking about, nor had he explained which health insurance plans might be impacted by any new policies.
&#8220;Well, again, he didn&#8217;t specify which drugs he was going to target — or which insurance programs would be impacted,&#8221; she complained. &#8220;Because you see, if you&#8217;re going to lower the price of the drugs, you gotta first fix the broken insurance company,&#8221; Goldberg laughed. &#8220;Because they are — it doesn&#8217;t make any sense.&#8221;
&#8220;You know what though, I would think that you have to take money out of politics, too, because a lot of these guys in Congress, don&#8217;t they take money from pharmaceutical lobbyists?&#8221; Joy Behar asked. &#8220;I mean —&#8221;
&#8220;But there are lobbyists in other countries, too,&#8221; cohost Sara Haines pushed back.
Behar pivoted then to attack Trump&#8217;s appearance and weight, saying, &#8220;The guy has 153 rooms in the White House. He can&#8217;t have one mirror to look into? He&#8217;s always criticizing, &#8216;This one&#8217;s not a 10, this one&#8217;s a six, this one&#8217;s fat, this one&#8217;s — he said the friend is &#8216;highly neurotic.&#8217; Hello? Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out the fact that Trump&#8217;s plan was actually supported by some of the progressives in Congress — including Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) because some parts of it mirrored a bill they were already working on to lower drug costs.
Griffin then said that her main issue with the plan was the potential for enforcement of lowered prices, which she said veered too close to Soviet-style price controls for her tastes.
Goldberg then responded by arguing that the infusion of socialism into the health care system — the raising of taxes on everyone to make sure that the government could absorb the costs of drugs so that those who needed medication were able to afford it — was not actually socialism.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not socialism,&#8221; she insisted. &#8220;It&#8217;s best for the country if everyone can afford their health care!&#8221;

Whoopi Goldberg launched into a tirade against President Donald Trump on Tuesday, complaining that his recently-announced tariff on films made outside the United States amounted to an attempt to control the kind of movies that could be made.
Goldberg and her cohosts mocked Trump&#8217;s latest tariff announcement — a 100% tariff on movies made outside the United States — and kicked off the conversation by saying that Trump should deal with the egg prices (which have come down considerably since they peaked in March) before he worries about Hollywood.
&#8220;Okay, look,&#8221; Goldberg began. &#8220;You can&#8217;t do that because what that equates to is you&#8217;re going to tell me how to write the story I want to write if it happens in Europe, you&#8217;re telling me that if my book comes out and I want to write it, you&#8217;re telling me how to write it. You&#8217;re telling me you&#8217;re going to charge me for that.&#8221;

&#8220;I think that he had two awful options, and this was the one that he chose, and I actually agree. Cohost Ana Navarro mentioned one anecdote regarding a biological woman who identified as transgender and competed against males, suggesting that somehow made the hundreds of trans-identifying males taking medals, awards, scholarships, and roster spots from women acceptable.
&#8220;Well, I think part of the problem that the trans community is facing, and it&#8217;s the same problem that women face, is if you don&#8217;t know anything about our bodies, you don&#8217;t know how it works,&#8221; Goldberg claimed, immediately affirming trans-identifying men as no different from women.
&#8220;So when you come in and say, &#8216;These men — these are men, you know, competing against women,&#8217; you&#8217;re assuming that the women are weak and just can&#8217;t do anything except be here,&#8221; she continued in mocking tones. &#8220;Have you seen female athletes? They know what they&#8217;re doing.&#8221;
&#8220;So I&#8217;m not sure what&#8217;s going on or why this is an issue. The same for me is when people say oh, you know, &#8216;I don&#8217;t know how I feel about you.&#8217; You do. God doesn&#8217;t make mistakes,&#8221; Goldberg asserted, despite the fact that the idea that people can be born the &#8220;wrong&#8221; gender is predicated on the possibility of God making mistakes.
&#8220;The challenge is not to the trans people, it&#8217;s to the people who are not trans. That&#8217;s what God is looking at to see how you treat people,&#8221; she insisted. &#8220;That&#8217;s what — that&#8217;s what is happening.&#8221;

&#8220;The View&#8221; host Whoopi Goldberg admitted during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast of the midday talk show that she used her platform on ABC News to help spread Democratic talking points.
Goldberg and her cohosts spent a good part of the show sparring with Stephen A. Smith, who argued that Democrats so far appear to be learning all the wrong lessons from their losses in the 2024 election cycle.

Smith argued that the 2024 election was not so much about President Donald Trump and the Republicans &#8220;winning&#8221; as it was about the Democrats losing because they couldn&#8217;t get a handle on a message that resonated with the American people.
&#8220;It&#8217;s not about him winning. It was an indictment against the Democratic Party and what the Democratic Party was offering the American citizens,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We might sit up here and talk about, hey, you should be a party for the working class, which the Democratic Party was once known for — they&#8217;re not known for that right now. Why? Because their message was catering towards others and towards other issues.&#8221;
&#8220;The forgot about the people that brought them there, that elevated the Democratic Party to what it was over these last few decades. That&#8217;s why they lost. He didn&#8217;t win, the Democrats lost,&#8221; Smith insisted.
&#8220;Let&#8217;s remind people what those issues were,&#8221; Goldberg replied. &#8220;Making sure that families had what they need &#8230; making sure stuff is there. Making sure that the America we all grew up in, where you could come and be whoever you were supposed to be or want to be, you still have that right.&#8221;
&#8220;All these things are the things the Democrats have always said, but now we have a guy who&#8217;s in who says you know, I&#8217;m gonna bring down the price of eggs, but first I&#8217;m gonna cut all these jobs,&#8221; Goldberg continued. &#8220;And I&#8217;m not gonna see why they need to be cut, I&#8217;m just gonna cut them &#8230; that&#8217;s what he&#8217;s doing.&#8221;
&#8220;You&#8217;re talking about what he&#8217;s doing,&#8221; Smith pushed back. &#8220;But before you brought that up, you brought up the message that the Democratic Party was disseminating. I&#8217;m challenging you on that. That is not what they were doing.&#8221;
&#8220;Oh, yes, it was. I was here. We did it!&#8221; Goldberg exclaimed.

Sunny Hostin claimed on Monday that it was &#8220;un-Godly&#8221; and &#8220;not Christian&#8221; to oppose woke culture, arguing that people who did so only proved that they did not care about their neighbors.
Hostin and &#8220;The View&#8221; cohost Whoopi Goldberg discussed their own personal histories, saying that because they had always been around people who were fighting for things like Civil Rights and other issues, they had &#8220;never been asleep.&#8221;
&#8220;I thought about the conversations that you and I have had, Whoopi, so many times about the co-opting of the word &#8216;woke,'&#8221; Hostin began. &#8220;And the fact that the right somehow has made it a dirty word.&#8221;
&#8220;To be woke is a word that came out of the African American community and it was about being — acknowledging social justice inequities, acknowledging people&#8217;s suffering,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;It&#8217;s not a bad thing to care about other people, to care about the sufferings of others, and to act upon it.&#8221;
&#8220;And so Whoopi will often tell me, &#8216;I&#8217;ve never been asleep,'&#8221; she added. &#8220;And that&#8217;s how I feel &#8230; so it angers me when people are like, &#8216;This woke stuff gotta go.&#8217; That&#8217;s telling me that you don&#8217;t care about my lived experience, you don&#8217;t care about the oppression of the LGBTQ community, you don&#8217;t care about the oppression of the disabled, you don&#8217;t care about the oppression of immigrants, you don&#8217;t care about your fellow neighbors — and that is un-Godly, that is not Christian.&#8221;

Whoopi Goldberg took a page from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton&#8217;s &#8220;basket of deplorables&#8221; playbook, admitting during Monday&#8217;s broadcast of &#8220;The View&#8221; that she can&#8217;t even talk to people who support President Donald Trump.
Goldberg still refuses to say Trump&#8217;s name aloud on the show — instead opting for terms like &#8220;the man in the White House&#8221; or &#8220;you know who&#8221; — and she made it clear on Monday that her disdain extended to half of the American people who voted for him.
The conversation began with cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin, who noted that Trump had spent his time away from the White House between terms working on building out his agenda and planning how he could implement it — efforts that have been paying off during his first month in office.
&#8220;One of the things he is excellent at, and the media takes the bait often, is he writes himself into every story,&#8221; Griffin said. &#8220;He didn&#8217;t just do the Super Bowl interview, he attended the Super Bowl &#8230; he is working in a 21st century media environment that is outpacing traditional media but also the opposition. I think Dems are kind of playing on a 1990s playbook of, like, if I go speak on the Senate floor if I go on &#8216;Meet the Press,&#8217; it&#8217;s going to stop him.&#8221;

Griffin noted that to be successful, they would have to &#8220;go into uncomfortable spaces&#8221; and include Trump voters in their efforts to bring more people in, and Goldberg balked.

&#8220;I think this is beyond Democrats and Republicans,&#8221; Goldberg said. &#8220;It&#8217;s hard to talk to people who support people who think you don&#8217;t matter in the country &#8230; When you support THAT person &#8230; when we find the stuff that we agree on, that&#8217;s what we do. When we find the stuff that is disagreeable to the majority, now, I didn&#8217;t find anything of interest for me in Project 2025. I didn&#8217;t feel like this is geared to us as a nation, I felt it was geared to very specific folks and that bothered the poo out of me.&#8221;
&#8220;I understand what you&#8217;re saying, and we do have to talk to each other,&#8221; she finally conceded.

The hosts of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; took their commentary a few steps lower on Thursday when, during a segment devoted almost entirely to complaining about billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, they took a brief time out to mock his four-year-old son over his unusual name, X Æ A-XII.
The cohosts were responding to a televised briefing from the Oval Office during which Musk laid out some of what he had been uncovering with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) project. President Donald Trump sat behind the resolute desk throughout the briefing, and Musk stood at his right shoulder. &#8220;Lil X,&#8221; as Musk calls his son, was also in the room at the time — a fact that did not escape Goldberg&#8217;s attention.

&#8220;And little Instagram,&#8221; Behar joked, but cohost Sara Haines pointed out that Musk did not own Instagram.
&#8220;He doesn&#8217;t own Instagram, he just took Lil X with him,&#8221; Goldberg said. &#8220;To a press conference in the Oval Office to defend himself against critics who say he should not have the power to gut the federal agency.&#8221;
Not everyone took the same approach as Goldberg and her cohosts, however.
Actor William Shatner also joked about Musk bringing his son to the press conference, but his jab appeared to be all in fun.
