Ana Navarro suggested on Monday that President Donald Trump and his administration had effectively cooked the books in their efforts to arrest former CNN host Don Lemon in connection with a protest that disrupted a Minneapolis church service a week earlier.
Navarro and her cohosts on ABC&#8217;s midday talk show &#8220;The View&#8221; discussed Lemon&#8217;s arrest, and their conversation covered the entire spectrum, from Navarro and Sunny Hostin insisting that the case had no merit and would be dismissed to Whoopi Goldberg wringing her hands and warning that the Trump administration could arrest anyone the president didn&#8217;t like.
Navarro began by claiming that an appellate court&#8217;s refusal to compel a lower court judge to sign off on Lemon&#8217;s arrest warrant amounted to judges laughing the DOJ out of their courtrooms. She did not mention the fact that one of the judges concerned said that he agreed there was probable cause to arrest Lemon.
&#8220;So, they basically did it themselves,&#8221; she asserted. &#8220;Make no mistake about it. This was about gaslighting, this was about going against Don lemon and other journalists. By the way, all of whom happen to be black. Happy Black History Month. And I think it&#8217;s to send a chilling message to anybody who is covering facts.&#8221;

Hostin, also ignoring that fact that Lemon was indicted by a federal grand jury, claimed that the former CNN host was only acting as a journalist covering the protest as it unfolded — despite video appearing to show that he was privy to the plans prior to the group storming into the church while parishioners attempted to hold a worship service.
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin also defended Lemon, claiming that he had acted only as a journalist.

Goldberg hit the panic button, however, and fretted about how easy it might be for the Justice Department to arrest anyone if Lemon was fair game.

Whoopi Goldberg immediately backpedaled after claiming Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were &#8220;violent criminals,&#8221; saying that she was using &#8220;nuance&#8221; when she made that particular statement.
Goldberg joined her cohosts on Monday&#8217;s broadcast of ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View,&#8221; where they discussed the fatal confrontation between anti-ICE activist Renee Good and the ICE agent who shot and killed her when she accelerated toward him, striking him with her vehicle. Goldberg&#8217;s overall assessment of the situation was that ICE agents were more violent than the people they were apprehending in major cities like Minneapolis.

Goldberg began by complaining that the Department of Homeland Security had promised to pick up the worst of the worst and the most “violent criminals” — and reports detailing who ICE agents have arrested since the surge in Minneapolis began indicate they have followed through on that promise.
But Goldberg disagreed with DHS and said that, as far as she was concerned, it appeared that the “violent criminals” were inside ICE.
“This is the thing, you said you were going after the bad guys. That&#8217;s what you said, the violent criminals. And what does it turn out? The violent criminals seem to be in the agency,” she said.
The show cut to a commercial break then, and by the time they returned to air, she was already trying to un-ring the bell.
“Welcome back. Before we go on, I — before folks gather around and say, &#8216;oh, she&#8217;s accusing all of the folks at ICE of being criminals,’ that is not what I&#8217;m doing. Goldberg then suggested that because she also agreed Trump&#8217;s actions had been &#8220;illegal,&#8221; maybe it was time for some other foreign power — and she did not specify which — should look at the United States and consider intervening.
&#8220;Let me just say this,&#8221; Goldberg began. &#8220;Here&#8217;s my question: Where is everybody? Where is everybody else? We come to everybody&#8217;s aid. We help everybody. Whoopi Goldberg claimed on Thursday that President Donald Trump&#8217;s plan to give monetary bonuses to members of the military was effectively a bribe to ensure that they&#8217;d obey the president&#8217;s orders even if they were not necessarily lawful.

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin began by saying she&#8217;d actually like to give Trump credit for offering bonuses — &#8220;warrior dividends&#8221; — to troops, but Goldberg quickly interrupted.
&#8220;Let&#8217;s see if they get the — I want to see them get it first,&#8221; Goldberg said.
Griffin went on to say that she&#8217;d prefer to see &#8220;smart policies&#8221; rather than &#8220;handouts,&#8221; and argued that it was unfair for money to only go to members of the military — particularly if the money was, as Trump said, coming from tariff revenue — that all Americans were hurting and in need of assistance.

Goldberg then pivoted to suggest that the reason Trump was singling out members of the armed forces had nothing to do with the notion that they&#8217;d earned it in service to the country, but rather because she believed they&#8217;d be more likely to do anything Trump wanted if he greased the wheels with a Christmas bonus.
&#8220;What he&#8217;s doing is, he&#8217;s thinking, &#8216;If I make sure that the soldiers have what they need, they&#8217;ll back me in what I want, see?'&#8221; she said.

Hostin went on to say that there could be legal consequences for those who gave the orders and for those who carried them out.
&#8220;That means the person who gave the order can be held accountable and put in prison, and that means the person that conducted — the people who conducted the orders, that pulled the trigger are also responsible and can be held accountable,&#8221; she said. &#8220;So, now you have people that are serving their countries, that are serving this country as patriots, perhaps following an illegal order and then themselves can be court-martialed. Imagine that.&#8221;

Whoopi Goldberg is once again claiming that one reason she won’t retire from hosting “The View” is that she doesn’t have enough money.
The 69-year-old comedian discussed the situation during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. When asked if she was ready to slow down and enjoy her life, Goldberg replied, “Yeah, but who can afford to do that? You know if you don’t marry well, you gotta keep working.”
The interviewer pressed on that point, saying Goldberg may be someone who could afford to retire. “No, not by now. Not yet,” the “Sister Act” star insisted.
At another point, Goldberg said, “I’ve got to keep paying those bills, baby.”

This isn’t the first time the host of “The View” indicated that she hadn’t earned enough money to step back from her career. 
In November 2024, Goldberg indicated she was “working class” because she was still working.
“I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Joy Behar, 83, also spoke with Entertainment Tonight, saying she wasn’t planning to retire either. She said it had to do with creativity, not finances.
“I just really like to write and create stuff,” she said. “Creative people don’t retire, they don’t resign, they just keep going,” she added.

Whoopi Goldberg unleashed on businessman Mark Cuban on Tuesday, complaining that he was getting things wrong when he said that simply complaining that &#8220;Trump sucks&#8221; did not seem to be working effectively as a message for the Democrats going forward.
Goldberg, from her platform on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View,&#8221; suggested the Cuban was aiming his criticism the wrong people and argued that Democrat voters had been out protesting Trump from the very beginning of his first term. Cuban broke down several of the issues he believes are facing the Democratic Party during a recent appearance on the &#8220;Pod Save America&#8221; podcast — where he also suggested that former Vice President Kamala Harris had been kept from doing the &#8220;bro podcasts&#8221; because her campaign leadership &#8220;didn&#8217;t trust her&#8221; — and the topic turned to messaging.

&#8220;The View&#8221; host Whoopi Goldberg was shocked to admit that President Donald Trump is not at fault for the massive flash floods that have devastated central Texas, killing more than 100 people when the Guadalupe River rose some 26 feet in about 45 minutes.
Goldberg, who still refuses to speak Trump&#8217;s name aloud on the ABC midday talk show, actually stepped in to stop cohost Joy Behar when she pointed the finger at the president during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast.
Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin addressed those who were attempting to politicize the flooding, claiming that President Donald Trump&#8217;s efforts to streamline the federal government — mainly through the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — had had a negative impact on the National Weather Service&#8217;s ability to accurately predict the floods and warn residents in time.
&#8220;I think after action reports are really important but politicizing and pointing fingers is not the answer,&#8221; Griffin said.

Goldberg jumped into the conversation, saying that she believed people should have been more prepared simply because that particular area was prone to flash flooding and had flooded quickly in the past. She argued instead that any failures were at the state level rather than the federal level.

There&#8217;s a perspective that has broken out into the open on both the horseshoe theory Left and the horseshoe theory Right — that America sucks, that America has always sucked, and that there has always been something wrong with the United States.
And that wrongness continues today.
There&#8217;s a lot of crossover in these two wings of American politics, but perhaps the most clear exemplar of this philosophy comes in the form of Whoopi Goldberg, who represents a sort of pixilated version of this philosophy, a dumbed-down version of this philosophy.
Wednesday, on ABC’s “The View” ( a repository of nearly all human stupidity), she decided she was going to sound off about the Israel-Iran war. Goldberg, of course, is a believer that Iran is not all that bad, that they can be negotiated with, that there was never anything wrong with Iran, that America has similar problems, and who are we to judge?
She decided to talk about how being a woman in Iran — which can mean being beaten for not wearing the proper head covering, not being able to work at a job they worked at before the Islamic Revolution in 1979 — is the same as being black in America in 2025.
That’s an astonishingly stupid claim. It’s absurd. 
Whoopi Goldberg is sitting there on the set of a nationally televised show, being paid millions of dollars after having been once an actress a long time ago, saying that being black in America is akin to being a woman in Iran, or a gay person in Iran —where gay people in Iran are hanged from cranes.
Whoopi Goldberg is feted for saying unbelievably low IQ, stupid things on a nationally televised show every single day. But apparently, that lack of perspective has become indicative of a broader trend in American life, which is to just whine about America, to crap on America.
It&#8217;s not relegated to Whoopi Goldberg. Barack Obama did this for a large part of his career as well, suggesting in 2008 that America always had great ideals, we just hadn&#8217;t lived up to them. That was the unifying part. And then, after he won, it turned into America kind of sucks, has kind of always sucked.

And now it turns out, according to Barack Obama, America sucks even more than usual.
He did an interview with The New York Times in which he suggested that we are drifting into something that is not consistent with American democracy; it&#8217;s consistent with autocracies. It&#8217;s consistent with Hungary under Viktor Orban.
First of all, we should point out that there are, in fact, elections in Orban&#8217;s Hungary. But beyond that, Barack Obama complaining about the twisting of the institutions of the United States against democracy is garbage.
Barack Obama doesn&#8217;t really get to talk about this, considering the fact that he used the federal government to threaten private industry very early on in his administration, that he used every aspect of his government in order to crack down on political opposition up to and including the IRS. 
During his tenure, Obama ran down America fairly routinely. He understood that Americans didn&#8217;t like that very much. In “Dreams from My Father,” his first book, he wrote:
I know, I have seen, the desperation and disorder of the powerless: how it twists the lives of children on the streets of Jakarta or Nairobi in much the same way as it does the lives of children on Chicago&#8217;s South Side, how narrow the path is for them between humiliation and untrammeled fury, how easily they slip into violence and despair. I know that the response of the powerful to this disorder &#8211; alternating as it does between a dull complacency and, when the disorder spills out of its proscribed confines, a steady, unthinking application of force, of longer prison sentences and more sophisticated military hardware &#8211; is inadequate to the task.
Notice the tacit endorsement of the idea that black people living in the South Side of Chicago is the same thing as impoverished children living on the streets of Jakarta, Indonesia, or Nairobi. That is an absurd contention.
But that sort of moral relativism — that runs throughout a large part of the Left that suggests that America is historically bad — remains bad today. A hallmark of the Left throughout the Cold War era was that there was really no difference between the United States and the Soviet Union. In fact, at least the Soviet Union was shooting for some form of equality. The United States was an unequal, terrible society.
This is an argument that was made by the Left. It is also an argument increasingly made by a sort of horseshoe theory Right, which suggests that America is bad today and it&#8217;s bad for a wide variety of reasons, but it was bad historically in the past as well.
When Donald Trump says, “Make America Great Again,” there are two reasons that his rhetoric resonates with so many Americans. One is that when Americans hear “Make America Great Again,” what they believe is that there are American principles that are fundamentally great, and we have to do a better job living up to them and implementing them. What makes America great, for example, is, say, the Constitution of the United States and its ideals; what makes America great are our principles of limited government, private property, free speech, and traditional values. That combination, that stew of Anglo-American ideals and applied uniquely in the United States, that&#8217;s what made America great. We need to get back to that. That&#8217;s what they hear when they hear Make America Great.
The other way of hearing it is we think of great moments in American history, and we say we want to be great like we were at that moment. Not that America was “greater” in 1960, when segregation was still on the books in the South, or that America was “greater” in the 1850s, when slavery was still practiced across half the country, but that there are moments in American history in which we have lived up to our great ideals, and we should make America great again like that.
We should have, for example, a unity of purpose as we did during World War II. We should, for example, have an industrialized economy that is forward-thinking and forward-looking the way that we did in, say, the 1950s.
There&#8217;s an idea that we have in our head when we say, “Make America Great Again.” And that&#8217;s what President Trump is calling upon and appealing to.
But there&#8217;s a part of the Right that really believes that America was never great, in the same way that the Left agrees that America was never great. They believe, for example, that the expansion across the West in the early days of America was imperialist and colonialist in the same way that the Left claims that America is imperialist and colonialist.
There&#8217;s a part of the Right that believes, like a part of the Left, that the Civil War was wrongly fought, that it would have been better if the South had been allowed to keep slaves, because, after all, an overweening federal government means broader federal power.
There&#8217;s a part of the Right that believes, like a part of the Left, that the Gilded Age, in which American industry began to really grow in America, became a world power economically, was bad and exploitative.
And it believes that the United States was bad in World War I, or that the United States was evil in World War II for dropping the A-bomb at the end of World War II, or that the United States was terrible during the Cold War because we opposed the communists too strenuously, and we&#8217;ve been corrupted from the inside by globalists.
There is this part of the Right that believes, like the Left, that there is something fundamentally wrong with America and it&#8217;s been wrong for generations; that the post-Cold War era was characterized by American evil, that America is a bad force in the world. 
There are many problems with this perspective. The first and foremost of which is that it is historically wrong.
America is the greatest force for human freedom in the history of the world. There is not really a close second. America is the greatest force for human prosperity in the history of the world. There really is not a close second.
Why is this important? Because if you cannot define what makes America great or what made America great, if you are in the moral relativist category of suggesting, for example, that America is akin to Russia, you know, both countries kill people, the sort of Michael Corleone cynical perspective in “The Godfather” when he says to Kay, “Senators have people killed, too,” which is a really puerile perspective. I know people like to cite the Michael Corleone speech to Kay as though there&#8217;s a sort of a world-weary explanation of American politics: “American senators have people killed just like dictators.”
No, they don&#8217;t. I know America. Do you think that senators in the United States have the capacity to have people murdered willy-nilly the way that Vladimir Putin, for example, shoves people off of buildings in Russia? If you think that, it’s because you are being deliberately obtuse or morally relativistic or both.
Why does this matter?
Because if you don&#8217;t know what America is about and what makes America great, how do you defend it? What are the principles that you are seeking to defend?
If you don&#8217;t like America at all, what are you defending America from? One of the signal features of the West for generations has been this self-loathing that has taken root in large parts of the Left and certain corners of the Right, the self-loathing that says that the West ought not defend itself in any way, shape or form, and we can&#8217;t defend ourselves because there&#8217;s something deeply, spiritually wrong with us.
It&#8217;s garbage. America has always been worth defending. The country that gave the world the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution is still the greatest country in the history of the world. 
Period.

Whoopi Goldberg took a wave of backlash after she used her platform on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; to claim that black Americans — even in the year 2025 — were no better off than Iranian citizens living under the brutal and oppressive Islamist government.
Goldberg and cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-view-goes-sideways-when-two-cohosts-claim-black-americans-are-worse-off-than-iranians">squared off</a> on the topic during Wednesday&#8217;s broadcast, when Griffin correctly pointed out the fact that an Iranian woman would likely be arrested — or worse — for stepping foot outside wearing even the relatively modest outfit she had on at the time. &#8220;I can’t have my hair showing, I can’t wear a skirt, I can’t have my arms out,&#8221; she said.
Goldberg apparently objected to the idea that Iranians were more oppressed than black Americans, and said, &#8220;Listen, here’s the thing — let’s not do the — let’s not do that, because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car.&#8221;
“I’m sorry, but where the Iranian regime is today is nothing compared to the United States,” Griffin interjected, again correctly.
&#8220;They used to just keep hanging black people!&#8221; Goldberg exclaimed, and continued to press the point.
But much like their reaction when Goldberg claimed that the Holocaust was &#8220;not about race,&#8221; critics quickly made it clear that they were not buying her assertions.
Guy Benson drove the point home during an appearance on Fox News&#8217; &#8220;America&#8217;s Newsroom,&#8221; saying at first, &#8220;I call that show a daily national televised insane asylum for a reason.&#8221;

&#8220;The View&#8221; hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin claimed on Wednesday that black people in America were worse off than people living under Iran&#8217;s oppressive regime, a claim that was immediately challenged by others at the table.
During a broader conversation about the ongoing war between Israel and Iran, Hostin claimed that Israel&#8217;s strike on Iran had not been legal. Goldberg argued that the legality of Israel&#8217;s actions should be decided by international bodies like the United Nations. But when cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin suggested that they should consider the possibility that Iran was a bad actor, the whole conversation quickly went off the rails.

Everyone began talking at once, and Goldberg eventually broke through. &#8220;That&#8217;s why I am saying that it is the same. Murdering someone for their differences not good whoever does it. It&#8217;s not good. So that&#8217;s why I said you weren&#8217;t saying — what I heard was not what you meant.&#8221;
&#8220;I think it&#8217;s very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is to live in Iran,&#8221; Griffin did not back down.
&#8220;Not if you&#8217;re black,&#8221; Goldberg claimed.
&#8220;Not for everybody,&#8221; Hostin agreed.
&#8220;Not if you&#8217;re black,&#8221; Goldberg said again.
&#8220;Guys, don&#8217;t go to Tehran. No one at this table should go to Tehran,&#8221; Griffin insisted. &#8220;There are places much darker than this country.&#8221;
