A parental rights group requested a federal probe of a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/california" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a> school district after it hosted an event last year that explicitly excluded white faculty members, according to a letter first shared with The Daily Wire. 
Parents Defending Education sent a letter on Monday requesting that the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigate the Acalanes Union High School District in Lafayette, California, for racial discrimination. The group said that the district was violating federal civil rights law by offering racially exclusionary programming for faculty members. The request comes after the district <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/high-school-asks-employees-avoid-inviting-white-peers-event-people-of-color-due-mistrust" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made headlines</a> last year after a school employee held an event for staff that left out white people. 
“PDE and its members oppose racial discrimination and political indoctrination in America’s schools. Acalanes Union High School District is offering additional programming for employees of color that are not offered to all employees in the district,” Parents Defending Education wrote in a letter to the director and regional attorney of the Oakland field office for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. 
The complaint stems from an incident last year when district’s director of student equity and inclusion Lynnā McPhatter-Harris hosted an event for all non-white employees in the district. In an email, she sent out an invitation for an event saying for an event for non-white district employees. 
&#8220;We are looking forward to seeing our people of color in the district. Please invite any employee of color to this event,” she wrote. 
&#8220;Be reminded that we have avoided inviting people that are not of color as there remains feelings of uneasiness and mistrust and we need this to be a safe space for our people of color,&#8221; the email said. &#8220;Please reach out to me if you have any questions of concerns.&#8221;

Parents Defending Education said that the district was guilty of employment discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act over the programming. The district did not respond to a Daily Wire request for comment on whether there had been any more similar events. 
“Acalanes Union High School likewise cannot exclude employees based on their race. We ask that your office promptly investigate the allegations in this complaint, act swiftly to remedy unlawful policies and practices, and order appropriate relief,” the group wrote. 
PDE also drew attention in its letter to language from a contractual agreement between the Acalanes Education Association and Acalanes Union High School District that includes language about teachers promoting equity in the classroom. The group has focused on highlighting how diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs have been adopted across the country.

Days after the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks, a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/massachusetts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Massachusetts</a> school district known for <a href="https://www.cpsd.us/departments/human_resources/diversity_and_cultural_proficiency" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing</a> diversity, equity, and inclusion was accused of supporting white supremacy because of its response to the attacks, according to emails viewed by The Daily Wire. 
On October 13, a sixth grade science teacher at Vassal Lane Upper School in the Cambridge Public School District accused the administration of supporting “white colonists” and criticized them for using the word “terrorist,” according to an <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Email-1_Redacted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">email</a> obtained by Parents Defending Education and shared with The Daily Wire. The teacher, who is a self-described “white Jewish educator,” was responding to a message that went out on October 12 called “Israel-Hamas War.” 
“In your message yesterday, you communicated that CPS [Cambridge Public Schools] places more value on white lives than brown Muslim lives,” the teacher wrote. “A few thoughts on word choice: The word terrorist brings deeply racialized connotations. You conspicuously did not mention Palestine or Gaza, therefore not including any of our community with connections to those places and people in your extension of care. Israelis are ‘innocent civilians’ but Palestinians simply do not exist.”
While acknowledging that there were “acts of violence” being committed against Israelis, the teacher attacked “white parents,” saying the district only cared when white people were being harmed. 
“Your email ignored this entire picture of life for brown, Muslim Palestinians, and in doing so, told your employees, students, and the people of Cambridge that when a group of highly educated, white parents tells you to abandon your values of racial justice and human dignity for all, you will do so. You have told us that white lives matter and all lives matter, rather than naming the brown lives that matter,” the email said. 
The teacher added that the district had chosen “white supremacy over human rights” and that the “current crisis is clearly a humanitarian one caused by white nationalist rhetoric.” 
Erika Sanzi, the director of outreach for Parents Defending Education, told The Daily Wire that it was concerning that a teacher in the district was going after parents because of their skin color. 
&#8220;Like so many districts, Cambridge employs fanatical people who think that condemning Hamas for the October 7th massacre is white supremacy and can&#8217;t abide parents who stand up for Israel if they are white,” Sanzi said. “This seems disqualifying for a public employee who works with other people&#8217;s children.&#8221;
The Daily Wire asked Cambridge Public Schools to provide a copy of the October 12 message that prompted the anger of the teacher as well as a <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Email-7.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">group of Muslim parents</a> in the district.

A previous statement from District Superintendent Victoria Greer on October 9 only made generic comments related to the attack without referencing Hamas.  
“I want to take a moment to acknowledge the conflict that has unfolded between Israel and Palestine,” Greer <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/First-Statement.pdf">wrote</a>. “Our thoughts and hearts are with the Israeli and Palestinian people, particularly those near and far who have been impacted by the unrest.”
On October 11, the district’s communications director wrote in an <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Email-2_Redacted.pdf">email</a> that they needed to be more explicit in their condemnation of Hamas in their future messages, sharing a tweet from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that condemned both Hamas and Israel. 
Other emails from teachers in the district are critical of Greer&#8217;s comments related to the October 7 attacks. The Daily Wire asked the district if they had altered their messaging in any way after the criticism from teachers. 
On Wednesday, Greer was given a 90-day notice to resign by the Cambridge School Committee. Greer has been facing criticism from the community over her handling of hiring and alleged toxicity, <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2024/5/30/cambridge-school-committee-asks-greer-resign/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Harvard Crimson.

Republican Alabama Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kay-ivey" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kay Ivey</a> signed a law this week that bans state funding of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/diversity-equity-and-inclusion-dei" target="_blank" rel="noopener">diversity, equity, and inclusion</a> programs at state agencies and public universities and requires those institutions to have sex specific bathrooms.
Ivey signed the measure, SB129, on Wednesday after it easily passed both the state House and Senate. The legislation comes as DEI programs at institutions across the country have come under scrutiny for focusing on identity as opposed to merit. 
“My Administration has and will continue to value Alabama’s rich diversity, however, I refuse to allow a few bad actors on college campuses – or wherever else for that matter – to go under the acronym of DEI, using taxpayer funds, to push their liberal political movement counter to what the majority of Alabamians believe,” Ivey <a href="https://www.al.com/news/2024/03/alabama-gov-kay-ivey-signs-dei-bill-into-law-what-the-divisive-concepts-ban-will-do.html?utm_campaign=aldotcom_sf&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement. 
“We have already taken action to prevent this in our K-12 classrooms, and I am pleased to sign SB129 to protect our college campuses,” she added. “Supporting academic freedom, embracing diversity of cultures and backgrounds and treating people fairly are all key components of what we believe in Alabama, and I am more than confident that will continue.”
The <a href="https://www.legislature.state.al.us/pdf/SearchableInstruments/2024RS/SB129-enr.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">law</a> will “prohibit certain public entities from maintaining diversity, equity, and inclusion offices and from sponsoring diversity, equity, and inclusion programs,” prohibit the “promotion, endorsement, and affirmation of certain divisive concepts in certain public settings,” and ensure that male and females have separate bathrooms at public institutions. 
One of the divisive concepts included the belief that someone can be inherently racist or responsible for slavery because of the color of their skin. This concept has been widely promoted throughout the education system as students have been taught that all white people are racist or inherently an oppressor.

Other divisive concepts banned include teaching the concept of white guilt and promoting the idea that it is racist to believe in meritocracy and hard work. 
The measure was widely opposed by Democrats and liberal groups who claimed that it would be used to stop history teachers from talking about slavery and related topics. The legislation’s supporters said that the bill would not prevent anyone from teaching accurate history or discussing negative aspects of Alabama’s past. 
States like Florida and Texas have already enacted similar legislation and Republican lawmakers in Congress <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-bill-would-eliminate-federal-funding-to-any-med-school-that-incorporates-dei" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have pushed</a> to pull federal funding from medical schools that incorporate DEI into their admissions or instruction.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro posted a thread Friday on X revealing how students at UCLA’s medical school were mandated to learn about &#8220;colonialism&#8221; and “liberation” during their first year in medical school.
Shapiro obtained internal emails from UCLA’s medical school documenting how med students have to take a <a href="https://medschool.ucla.edu/sites/g/files/oketem456/files/media/images/UCLA-DGSOM-Heals-Curriculum-Schematic.png" target="_blank" rel="noopener">class</a> called “Structural Racism and Health Equity” which teaches them about “Indigenous resistance” and “white colonialism.” Shapiro’s report comes after lawmakers across the country have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ben-shapiros-investigation-on-deis-influence-on-medicine-sparks-outrage-on-hill-it-risks-lives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expressed concern</a> over the infiltration of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into the medical field.

For the class, students are told to read from, “Our History is the Future,” which is about “settler colonialism and Indigenous resistance on a global scale.&#8221;
“UCLA med students are told to read about wars of ‘Indigenous resistance’ – in which Native Americans killed thousands of white people – to ‘imagine what liberation could look like,’&#8221; Shapiro said. 
Additionally, students are taught about “Blackness and Indigeneity” and “how we can imagine a world in the aftermath of settler colonialism and white supremacy.” The med students are also urged to read an article called “Decolonization is Not a Metaphor.”  
Another resource suggested for the students is the Indigenae podcast, which covers topics like “Womxn and Two Spirit.”
“Why is a class like this even offered, much less mandatory for med students? Which lessons on anatomy, biochemistry, and saving lives were removed to add this woke ‘Indigenae’ nonsense into the curriculum?” Shapiro asked. “In the context of a medical school, these materials aren&#8217;t just irrelevant — they put lives at risk. Medical students are being taught to disregard science, and instead to build resentment towards many of their patients.”

There are a lot of threats facing America these days.
One is the threat of fiscal collapse.
Mid-to-long-term, America’s economic system is increasingly unsustainable. We’re running a $33 trillion national debt; our actual national debt, including unfunded liabilities, runs another $80 trillion over the next 75 years. Virtually all of those figures are driven by Medicare and Social Security shortfalls. This means, sooner or later, we’re going to have to radically increase taxes, cut benefits, or inflate our currency.
Another threat is the threat of foreign aggression.
The United States is lucky in that we are surrounded by an ocean on one side, Mexicans to the South, and Canadians to the North.
But that doesn’t mean we’re invulnerable. As the world becomes a more dangerous place — as American power recedes — we will feel that everywhere from our pocketbook to our military budget. American hegemony has created a global economy which has paid off for the American consumer in extraordinary ways. That can easily be reversed — and indicators are, it will be.
A third thread is the threat of internal moral collapse.
Indeed, this threat is the chief factor behind the first two threats. As our communities die, our local institutions lose credibility and loyalty, we stop having children, and our economy turns upside down. The government grows, but the population that has to fund it doesn’t; government spending increases, but the population supporting it doesn’t. As the post-American future takes hold at home, it will similarly take hold abroad, with our enemies ready to fill the gap.

That last threat is the truly frightening one.
It is the reason for America’s polarized politics: We once shared basic values, particularly at the local level, but now, those values have fallen away, replaced with hatred and rage at Christians and white Americans.
Take, for example, James Carville. Carville is a Clintonian political voice and a person who has routinely urged the Democratic Party to move away from its most extreme and radical positions, understanding they are electoral poison. But now, he has apparently decided that the Republican Party in general is a threat to the United States — that it is a Christian nationalist party.
What does he mean by that term? Apparently, he doesn’t mean that many Republicans prefer to see a revitalized church at the center of American life, a proposition with which I wholeheartedly agree as an Orthodox Jew. No, he means the Republican Party is — in the words of far-Left Daily Kos founder, Markos Moulitsas — an American Taliban.
Carville <a href="https://twitter.com/JCNSeverino/status/1731684523040014751" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on Bill Maher’s show on Friday night, “(House Speaker) Mike Johnson and what he believes is one of the greatest threats we have today to the United States. I know these people. (Christian nationalists). This is a bigger threat than Al Qaeda to this country. … They have the Speaker of the House; they got at least two Supreme Court Justices, maybe more. Don’t kid yourself.”

Now, this is truly nutty stuff. In Carville’s view, two Supreme Court justices and the Speaker of the House are leading the charge for a Christian theocracy. And they are a bigger threat than the terrorist group responsible for September 11.
Carville isn’t the only Democratic voice who sees traditional Republicans as the enemy. There is also grifter extraordinaire Ibram X. Kendi, who says his fellow Americans are generally white supremacists.
This, apparently, will be the Democratic Party’s campaign in 2024: Republicans are Christian theocrats and white supremacists. The entire Republican Party is dominated by a desire for white Christian fascism — or something like that.
The response, presumably, would be an alliance of the secularists and people of color. Not shockingly, that’s precisely the coalition the Democratic Party seems to be wooing.
And they are doing so with ugly scare tactics.

That’s why the Atlantic is dedicating its first issue of 2024 to suggesting that a vote for Donald Trump in 2024 is a vote for a fascist regime. A note from official Obama jockstrap-carrier Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of the rag, reads, “I encourage you to read all of the articles in this special issue carefully (though perhaps not in one sitting, for reasons of mental hygiene). Our team of brilliant writers makes a convincingly dispositive case that both Trump and Trumpism pose an existential threat to America and to the ideas that animate it.”
Yes, according to the Atlantic, if you vote for Trump, you have handed away America’s future.
This sort of messaging is being promoted by Republicans experiencing “Strange New Respect™” (i.e., the respect you receive when you start mimicking Democratic lines), like Liz Cheney, who is mirroring the <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/liz-cheney-tells-cbs-news-sunday-morning-that-the-u-s-is-sleepwalking-into-a-dictatorship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">doom-mongering</a> of the Left.
Ironically, this very alarmism is one of the root threats to America. 
Countries in which both sides start speaking about how the next election is the last election — about how their political opponents, if they win, mean the end of the country — are in serious danger. That sort of scaremongering may get out votes, but it also sets the house on fire in the name of saving the house. 
Understand, I want Joe Biden to lose. I think he is a terrible president doing dangerous things that will be difficult to rectify. But the end of America is not nigh in 2024 — not unless, ironically, everyone keeps saying it is. The closer both sides draw to the abyss — the more each party says the next election is the last election — the more that fantasy draws closer to reality.
And that is a true threat to the Republic.

Caruso, a former Republican running as a moderate Democrat, is facing off with Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA), a far-left black woman, for incumbent Mayor Eric Garcetti&#8217;s position.

The current chief “diversity, equity and inclusion” officer at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/department-of-defense">Department of Defense</a>&#8216;s Education Activity office, who supervises the education of the children of Pentagon employees and overseas military members, issued a series of social posts disparaging white people.
Kelisa Wing was promoted to her current position in December 2021. Director Thomas Brady, in announcing the promotion to a position created for her, enthused, “Kelisa Wing is exactly the right person to lead our efforts in building on the foundational work done to support meaningful change in our organization.”
“This new position will take a holistic approach to identifying and improving how we integrate the practice of diversity, equity and inclusion in every aspect of DoDEA, from curriculum and assessment to hiring and professional development,” he added.

Kelisa Wing tweeted in June 2020, “I’m exhausted with these white folx in these [professional development] sessions,” as <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/woke-department-defense-equity-chief-writes-anti-white-posts-exhausted-white-folx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> reported.
Using the term CAUdacity, which refers to audacity from white people, she also tweeted, “[T]his lady actually had the CAUdacity to say that black people can be racist too … I had to stop the session and give Karen the BUSINESS … [W]e are not the majority, we don’t have power.”
Answering another tweet, she took aim at white people once again, writing, “If another Karen tells me about her feelings… I might lose it&#8230;”
At the end of May 2020, Wing <a href="https://www.edpost.com/stories/teachers-must-hold-themselves-accountable-for-dismantling-racial-oppression" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>, “Racism is ingrained in the very fabric of our country.”
On Friday, Cmdr. Nicole Schwegman, Public Affairs Officer at Office of the Secretary of Defense, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/department-defense-reviewing-equity-chief-disparaging-posts-white-people-exposed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued a statement </a>saying, “We are aware of news reports concerning an official at DoDEA.”
“Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts in… [DoDEA] are an important part of building and sustaining an organizational culture where all students, educators, and staff are valued and respected,” she continued. “Our focus remains on ensuring military-connected students, their families, and our employees have equitable access to opportunities and resources that support student achievement and readiness for college and careers.”
Wing has authored books for children including titles such as “What Is White Privilege,” “ What Is Anti-Racism?” and “What Does it Mean To Defund the Police?” The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11227333/Pentagon-launches-probe-woke-female-diversity-officer-disparaging-tweets-white-people.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a>.
“White Privilege” contains sentences including, “If you are White you might feel bad about hurting others or you might feel afraid to lose this privilege.” It also encourages white children to wonder if they will “really feel good at the end of the race when you look back and see others fighting obstacles that you didn&#8217;t even have?’
“What is Anti-Racism?” asserts that the word “race” stems from  Italian or Hebrew, The Daily Mail noted, pointing out that Biblical Hebrew has no such word.

In an interview with <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/lily-tomlin-interview-jane-fonda-insult-comedy-1235128588/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>, actress/comedian Lily Tomlin, 82, offered her opinion as to why the war between Ukraine and Russia has galvanized so much news coverage, contending, “As tragic as Ukraine is, you think of it as a white European country.”
Tomlin continued, “I think of the people in Haiti and in all the countries of color where terrible things happened and not as many people responded, and it was not as widely spread in the press. There was just an embrace of the Ukrainian people and a dismissal of people of color in other countries.”
Tomlin, whose close friendship with noted leftist actress Jane Fonda goes back decades, was asked, “What is the secret to your working partnership (and friendship) with Fonda?” She answered, “We both have the same work ethic and we genuinely love each other, even though we come from such different backgrounds. I know she has my back, and I know I have hers. And I’m of course interested in all her political activities.”
In September 2017 at the Emmys, Tomlin said of President Trump, “And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot.”
As for Fonda, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/hollywood-flashback-1972-photo-turned-jane-fonda-hanoi-jane-972398/">The Hollywood Reporter</a> wrote in 2017:

A group of 162 principals and assistant principals at schools in Minnesota issued a public letter calling for “de-centering Whiteness” and “dismantling practices that reinforce White academic superiority,” while claiming that their efforts meant they were making a “sacrifice” for “our children.”
Citing the late Congressman John Lewis, who once said, “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble,” the “Good Troubles” principals <a href="http://www.goodtroubleprincipals.com/">write</a> in their statement: “We will not pledge loyalty to an institution over loyalty to the purity of children. We will not settle for the few overcomers of the greater system rather than dismantling the system for the greater good.”
They boast, “We are descendants of fighters and defenders of legacies. … we have fire in our bones and conviction in our hearts to see these walls come down like 1989 Berlin. …  The undersigned principals declare publicly today that we are making some noise and getting in good trouble. Not for a day, a week, a month, or a year. But for a lifetime.”
They ask rhetorically, “How might we get in Good Trouble today?”
They answer:

(1) De-centering Whiteness. Understanding that traditional organized whiteness ensures domination through forms like PTAs and Unions. We purposefully call out and lift up historically non-represented voices of color in our spaces to hold weight and power. 
(2) Dismantling practices that reinforce White academic superiority like bias in testing and the labeling, tracking and clustering that reflect an Americanized version of a caste system in our schools. 
(3) Reconstructing “school” upon our full in-person returns where business-as-usual, like schedules and staffing, are open to drastic changes. and engaging in that preparatory work now. 
(4) Speaking truth to power. Where our commitment to holding ourselves and those who serve under us accountable to this work is just as importantly extended to those who serve over us. </blockquote>
The principals actually blame white children in part by asserting, “White children have been done a great disservice by sustaining white-centered schools in America over all these years. And it is to their equal benefit to thrive in schools where they are not spoon-fed the poison that they are better because of their skin color, where they have principals and teachers who boldly lead them to both humility and pride, and where they have the beautiful privilege of thriving while their classmates of color thrive as well.”
They pose themselves as martyrs: “And if getting in Good Trouble means we have a price to pay; so be it. For we know that the lives of our children are depending on us. And their lives are worth our sacrifice.”
The group’s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/801111030626622">Facebook page</a> states, “This is a time like no other. And yet the principalship can feel so lonely. This page is an attempt to connect school leaders from across the Metro Area who are committed and dedicated to anti-racist, student-centered educational realities that may not already exist; or in the words of Dr. Bettina Love: Abolitionist Education.”
Love <a href="https://bettinalove.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Anti-Black-state-violence-classroom-edition-The-spirit-murdering-of-Black-children.pdf">wrote</a> in 2016, “Racism is indelible to the Black body and the spirit, and the physical and spirit murdering of Black bodies is unfortunately part-and-parcel of America’s history. On Friday, famed author J. D. Vance, who wrote the bestselling book “Hillbilly Elegy” and is reportedly considering a run for the United States Senate in Ohio, slammed Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Mark Milley after Milley, defending the reading of Critical Race Theory texts in the military, <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/highest-ranking-u-s-military-official-defends-teaching-crt/">told the House Armed Services Committee</a>, “I do think it&#8217;s important actually for those of us in uniform to be open-minded and be widely read and the United States Military Academy is a university and it is important that we train and we understand, and I want to understand white rage and I&#8217;m white.”
Vance blasted, “I personally would like American generals to read less about ‘white rage’ (whatever that is) and more about ‘not losing wars.'&#8221;
“What I find so enraging about the Joint Chiefs’ pandering on progressive wokeness is that they know damn well the geography and politics of who dies in American wars,” he wrote angrily. “The conservative Americans you trash are disproportionately bleeding for this country.I’m glad you got your viral clip, General. Sure, actor Tom Hanks is woke. He votes for Democrats, promotes and <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tom-hanks-joe-biden-virtual-fundraiser-222254121.html">fundraises</a> for Democratic candidates, and recently <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/04/opinion/tom-hanks-tulsa-race-massacre-history.html">penned</a> a piece for The New York Times promoting racial curriculum in schools and demanding more race-focused projects in Hollywood.
But he&#8217;s not woke enough.
At issue here is Hanks&#8217; whiteness. If he wants to be a true &#8220;ally&#8221; to people of color, writes taxpayer-subsidized NPR TV critic Eric Deggans, Hanks must be &#8220;anti-racist.&#8221; And to do that, he must recognize that he&#8217;s made &#8220;fortunes amplifying ideas of white American exceptionalism and heroism&#8221; and help to &#8220;dismantle&#8221; those ideas.
Being &#8220;anti-racist,&#8221; says Deggans, is more than being a &#8220;non-racist,&#8221; it &#8220;implies action – looking around your universe and taking specific steps to dismantle systemic racism.&#8221;
&#8220;So I am saying it is time for folks like Hanks to be anti-racist,&#8221; the critic declared in a piece published Sunday.
&#8220;[I]t&#8217;s wonderful that Hanks stepped forward to advocate for teaching about a race-based massacre – indirectly pushing back against <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/06/02/1001055828/the-brewing-political-battle-over-critical-race-theory">all the hyperventilating</a> about <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/05/28/1000537206/teachers-laws-banning-critical-race-theory-are-leading-to-self-censorship">critical race theory</a> that&#8217;s too often more about silencing such lessons on America&#8217;s darkest chapters,&#8221; wrote Deggans. &#8220;But it is not enough.&#8221;
Hanks, the woke critic argued, has &#8220;built a career playing righteous white men.&#8221; To this end, Hanks is &#8220;personally and specifically connected to the elevation of white culture over other cultures.&#8221;
Deggans outlined Hanks&#8217; body of work and complained that the actor has &#8220;built a sizable part of his career on stories about American white men &#8216;doing the right thing (emphasis added).'&#8221;
<blockquote>Over the years, he has starred in a lot of big movies about historical events, including Saving Private Ryan, Greyhound, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Bridge of Spies and News of the World. He has served as a producer or executive producer on even more films and TV shows based on American history, including Band of Brothers, The Pacific, John Adams and From the Earth to the Moon. He was an executive producer of documentaries such as The Assassination of President Kennedy and The Sixties on CNN.&#8221;
In other words, he is a baby boomer star who has built a sizable part of his career on stories about American white men &#8220;doing the right thing.&#8221;</blockquote>
These stories &#8220;leave out Black contribution,&#8221; Deggans emphasized.
If Hanks &#8220;really wants to make a difference,&#8221; the critic wrote, he and other white Hollywood figures &#8220;need to talk specifically about how their work has contributed to these problems and how they will change. They need to make specific commitments to changing the conversation in story subjects, casting, and execution. That is the truly hard work of building change.&#8221;
&#8220;Rather than talk about what &#8216;historically based fiction entertainment&#8217; must do, why not talk about what Tom Hanks, longtime scripted and documentary executive producer, will do? As a star who can get a movie made just by agreeing to appear in it, what will Tom Hanks, movie star, actually do?&#8221; Deggans continued.
&#8220;Let&#8217;s make part of that conversation how baby boomer filmmakers have made fortunes amplifying ideas of white American exceptionalism and heroism,&#8221; the critic said. &#8220;And how their responsibility now lies with helping dismantle and broaden the ideas they helped cement in the American mind.&#8221;

One of the most consequential — and, as we’ll see, most dangerous — innovations of America’s race hustler constituency is the invention of the term “whiteness.” We used to hear constant condemnations of alleged “white supremacy,” even though white supremacy as a belief system is nearly non-existent in this country, and as a legal principle is entirely non-existent. White supremacists — Klan members, neo-Nazis, and the like — are small, scattered, and insignificant. As for the law, there are no laws on the books today, anywhere, in any state or jurisdiction, that enshrine or codify white supremacy (despite what you may have heard). 
Of course, we still hear about this supposed problem of white supremacy, but many of those who once focused on fighting that make-believe scourge have moved on and are these days intent on slaying the dragon known as whiteness. Increasingly, advocates for so-called “racial justice” have widened their lens beyond white supremacy to now include this much broader category which would seem to encompass all white people. White supremacy is a belief system — a fringe belief system, but a belief system all the same. Whiteness, on the other hand, in its most literal sense simply means “the state or quality of being white.” This sheds disturbing light on all of the college <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2016/12/23/health/college-course-white-controversy-irpt-trnd/index.html">courses</a> with titles like “The Problem of Whiteness,” and the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/education/2020/jun/25/abolish-whiteness-academic-calls-for-cambridge-support">calls</a> from academics and activists to “abolish whiteness.” It’s not simply white supremacy they’re after anymore, but whiteness itself.
The way that the race activists get around the obviously horrific implications of this kind of talk is the same way they get around everything else: by manipulating language to obscure the meaning of the words that they use. That’s why, if you go beyond the dictionary and try to find a definition of “whiteness” from the people who use it so often, you’ll end up with a lot of hazy, indeterminate ramblings like <a href="https://www.aclrc.com/whiteness">this</a> from the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Center, quoting a feminist sociologist named Ruth Frankenberg: whiteness is “a dominant cultural space with enormous political significance, with the purpose to keep others on the margin.” 
If that doesn’t clear things up, the National Museum of African American History and Culture has <a href="https://nmaahc.si.edu/learn/talking-about-race/topics/whiteness">this</a> to say about the cancer known as  whiteness:
<blockquote>Whiteness and white racialized identity refer to the way that white people, their customs, culture, and beliefs operate as the standard by which all other groups of are compared. Whiteness is also at the core of understanding race in America. Whiteness and the normalization of white racial identity throughout America&#8217;s history have created a culture where nonwhite persons are seen as inferior or abnormal. This white-dominant culture also operates as a social mechanism that grants advantages to white people, since they can navigate society both by feeling normal and being viewed as normal. Persons who identify as white rarely have to think about their racial identity because they live within a culture where whiteness has been normalized.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Dr. Monnica T Williams <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/culturally-speaking/202006/what-is-whiteness">writes</a> for Psychology Today that whiteness is “an unfairly privileged exclusionary category, based on physical features, most notably a lack of melanin.” For this reason, the good doctor explains, white people are not allowed to be proud of their racial identity. She says that she will permit you to be proud of, say, your specific German heritage or French Canadian culture, but you must not be proud to be white in general because “whiteness is a forced group membership that originated by oppressing people of color.” But can black people like her self be proud of their race? Why, of course:
<blockquote>People may then ask why is it okay to be proud of being Black but not White. This is because pride in Blackness represents pride in the accomplishments and resilience of a racialized group in the face of continual oppression. It is healthy for Black people to celebrate these small victories to maintain their self-esteem, despite pervasive social messages of inferiority.</blockquote>
Well, that’s it then. A hallowed “mental health” professional has spoken. It is healthy for black people to be proud of who they are, but it is not healthy for white people. The most healthy mental state for a white person is one of suffocating, never-ending guilt and shame.
This view has become especially common among psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychoanalysts. The entire psycho-industry seems to be fueled by two primary assumptions: gender is fluid, and whiteness is bad. These are also the two primary assumptions of academia, the media, corporate America, and the United States government, but it is especially hazardous in the mental health field because these are the professionals to whom the most mentally vulnerable people are entrusted. And that gives us even more of a reason to be equal parts disgusted and terrified by a paper very recently published in the distinguished, peer-reviewed Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association. In the <a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/00030651211008507">paper</a>, Dr. Donald Moss, a faculty member of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, shares his thoughts on the topic of “having whiteness.” If the phrase “having whiteness” makes white identity sound like a disease — as if someone might have whiteness in the same way that they have cancer or chicken pox — well, that is exactly the point. 
Here is the abstract: 
<blockquote>Whiteness is a condition one first acquires and then one has—a malignant, parasitic-like condition to which “white” people have a particular susceptibility. The condition is foundational, generating characteristic ways of being in one’s body, in one’s mind, and in one’s world. Parasitic Whiteness renders its hosts’ appetites voracious, insatiable, and perverse. These deformed appetites particularly target nonwhite peoples. Once established, these appetites are nearly impossible to eliminate. Effective treatment consists of a combination of psychic and social-historical interventions. Such interventions can reasonably aim only to reshape Whiteness’s infiltrated appetites—to reduce their intensity, redistribute their aims, and occasionally turn those aims toward the work of reparation. When remembered and represented, the ravages wreaked by the chronic condition can function either as warning (“never again”) or as temptation (“great again”). Memorialization alone, therefore, is no guarantee against regression. There is not yet a permanent cure.</blockquote>
A permanent cure. The language of the &#8220;racial justice&#8221; is beginning to take on a rather genocidal tone. Here we have medical professionals speaking openly about finding a &#8220;permanent cure&#8221; for a certain racial identity. And if this was not all bone-chilling enough, I should mention that Dr. Moss has been delivering his thoughts on the whiteness disease in talks to college students, psychoanalysts, and social workers (tickets are only 40 dollars). 
One does not need to go back very far in history to see where this sort of thing leads. Our fallen species has, tragically, attempted many experiments with casting an entire group or race of people as villains, subhumans, scapegoats, the cause of all social ills, etc. It never results in anything but bloodshed and misery. It cannot possibly come to any other conclusion.
