In the days following the 2017 Charlottesville, Virginia, rally, the Southern Poverty Law Center raged against PayPal for &#8220;essentially&#8221; becoming &#8220;the banking system for white nationalism.&#8221;
At the same time, the leftist group was secretly transferring donor cash into the pocket of a white supremacist leader who helped plan the racist event, according to an indictment revealed by the Justice Department on Tuesday.
In the days after the August 11, 2017, rally, which turned into a deadly affair, the SPLC urged PayPal to crack down on accounts linked to so-called hate groups. PayPal, which already had policies in place on preventing racist groups from using its platform to transfer money, took more action after the &#8220;Unite the Right&#8221; rally and agreed to cut off payments to 34 more accounts linked to the event.
&#8220;PayPal, one of the world’s largest online payment processors, was integral in raising money to orchestrate the event,&#8221; the SPLC <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/resources/hatewatch/organizers-and-leaders-charlottesvilles-deadly-rally-raised-money-paypal/">stated</a> on its website in August 2017. &#8220;Organizers, speakers, and individual attendees relied on the platform to move funds in the run up to the ultimately deadly event.&#8221;
Keegan Hankes, analyst for the Southern Poverty Law Center, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/08/16/paypal-escalates-the-tech-industrys-war-on-white-supremacy/">told</a> The Washington Post at the time, &#8220;For the longest time, PayPal has essentially been the banking system for white nationalism. It’s a shame it took Charlottesville for them to take it seriously.&#8221;
On Tuesday, the SPLC was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lefty-anti-hate-group-paid-white-supremacist-to-plan-infamous-charlottesville-rally-indictment?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=Lefty+%E2%80%98Anti-Hate%E2%80%99+Group+Paid+White+Supremacist+To+Plan+Infamous+Charlottesville+Rally%3A+Indictment">accused</a> of paying multiple people affiliated with extremist groups more than $3 million between 2014 and 2023 and hiding its activity behind bank accounts that were opened for &#8220;a series of fictitious entities.&#8221; One informant was paid more than $270,000 by the SPLC between 2015 and 2023 and had a major role in planning the &#8220;Unite the Right&#8221; rally in Charlottesville, according to the indictment.
The informant &#8220;made racist postings under the supervision of the SPLC and helped coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees,” the indictment states, adding that the informant attended the rally &#8220;at the direction of the SPLC.&#8221;
A 32-year-old woman was killed near the rally, and 35 others were injured when a man drove his car through a crowd of counter-protesters. The &#8220;Unite the Right&#8221; event became a main talking point for Democrats as they sought to pin blame on President Donald Trump, who had just begun his first term as president seven months before. In 2019, Joe Biden announced the launch of his campaign for president, citing the racist Charlottesville rally as a leading factor behind his decision.
The indictment also states that over the past 12 years, the SPLC has paid members of white supremacist groups, including paying one person who fundraised for a neo-Nazi group around $1 million over a 20-year period.
“They use their donor network to raise money to purportedly dismantle violent extremist groups,” FBI Director Kash Patel said on Tuesday. “However, the Southern Poverty Law Center, used the money they raised from their donor network to actually pay the leadership of these very groups.”

We are watching a tremendous political radicalization take place in the United States.
That radicalization has been most obvious on the Left, but there is a concomitant movement that is happening on the Right.
That splinter movement on the Right is being massaged by some of the people who have some sway in the conservative movement, at least in the commentariat.
It’s important to point out how one leads to the other, because that is the pattern in American politics. Politics generally is incredibly reactionary. People tend not to respond reasonably to provocations that are unreasonable, and they tend to swivel into their own unreasonable positions, and the pendulum swings back and forth.
It is a rarity to find a moment of clarity and reasonableness in American politics, even if the people who constitute the vast majority of the American body politic are normies.
Americans want a strong national defense, but they don&#8217;t want tremendous interventionism. Americans want a traditional value system, but not one that has the government snooping in their bedrooms. Americans want a system of laws that makes sure that there is a basic level of social safety net, but they do not want the government taking tremendous amounts of money away from them and regulating their businesses out of existence. 
That’s what polls show every single time. America is a very politically normie country. A Center-Right country is where you would place America on the map, if you were creating a spectrum of countries from far-Right to far-Left. 
And yet our politics right now seem to be revolving around the polls.
The reason it is revolving around the polls is because the Democratic Party has increasingly made it clear that there is a population they do not like: white Christian males. That is the population that must be targeted. 
It wasn’t always this way inside the Democratic Party. If you go back just about 20 years to the John Edwards campaign in 2004, you’ll find a socialistic-leaning campaign in terms of its economic policies. But the Edwards campaign certainly didn&#8217;t suggest that white Christian males were somehow bad.  In fact, Edwards would openly campaign as a person who was apparently religious (Of course, in his personal life, it turned out the man had many, many foibles).
I was a very strong opponent of John Edwards. But the Democratic Party has moved dramatically on just who they are targeting. That’s the reality, and it&#8217;s coming out in so many ways. It’s clearly evident.

It&#8217;s self-evident in everything from the Mamdani candidacy, which is oriented against white Christian males, to the mainstream politicians in the Democratic Party. For example, yesterday Nancy Pelosi was giving a speech at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, and she started talking about Republicans and Christianity. Hilariously, she broke into a southern accent while she was doing it. 
Nancy Pelosi has true scorn for traditional biblical values. She considers herself a Catholic, but the reality is she does not hold any values in common with Catholicism, most certainly not on the social side. She&#8217;s a radical advocate for abortion, transgenderism, and same-sex marriage, all of which the church decries. Thus, she mocked Republicans and their relationship with religion, saying: 
<blockquote>“You know, people of faith who go to church on Sunday and pray in church on Sunday and prey on people the rest of the week. What is this? What is this?”</blockquote>
The scorn Nancy Pelosi has for religious conservatives who go to church on Sunday and disagree with her on politics has led to a massive backlash. 
The same thing is true in terms of race. The entire Democratic Party swiveled in favor of DEI, which was the idea that America is a systemically evil country that benefits white people and that any racial disparities in outcome must be attributable to a system that benefits white people at the expense of black and brown people. 
That led to a response in terms of policy that essentially targeted and disadvantaged white people. It also targeted minorities who were too successful, like Jews and Asians. 
The basic idea was that meritocracy was a guise for power, meritocracy was a lie, and that actually meritocracy was a system that benefited white people at the expense of all others. 
The Democratic Party repeated this ad nauseam. This is what the entire Black Lives Matter movement was really about, obfuscating the relationship between actions and consequences in favor of the idea that all shortcomings in life had to be due to a white supremacist system, and, therefore, white people had to be punished by the system.
And that triggered an identity-based response from a lot of young white men, particularly. 
This is the language of the Democratic Party: people of color are being targeted by white people; Christians are predators. People who are white are the oppressors. 
That is the basic matrix through which democratic politics has been refracted in the United States. That means that the coalition for the Democratic Party has been minorities, young people, and, in particular, young liberal white women. 
Why young liberal white women? Because they&#8217;re not young white Christian men. This is not just anti-Christian and anti-white, it also tends toward the anti-male. 
There&#8217;s a reason the Democratic Party has been losing young males hand over fist. They decided to feminize their party by attacking men as part of this evil superstructure. 
The final sort of peculiar outgrowth of the anti-male movement, of course, was transgenderism, which was the idea that there is no such thing as manhood. 
There&#8217;s been an overt attack on masculinity from the Left for several decades at this point, that if you let men be men, that will end with a discriminatory society that puts women underfoot, that men have nothing to offer to women at all, that the best types of men are the men who leave their masculinity behind. 
When you say that Christianity is inherently anti-LGBTQ, that it&#8217;s just a guise for discrimination. When you say that churches are bad, and when you say that white people are the cause of a white supremacist system, and that any disparate outcome is just evidence of innate white supremacy and innate white racism; when you say that maleness is driving America into the gutter and that we need to wipe away male supremacy even as males begin to underperform in college and commit suicide at higher and higher rates as they fall into depths of despair, you end up provoking a response.
And when you provoke responses, many of them tend to be untethered. Add on top of that the anti-Christian, anti-white, anti-male agenda that the Left has increasingly pushed. Also, add to that a pro-censorship agenda. That’s the idea that if you speak out against this stuff, you&#8217;re outside the Overton window, you’re at risk of being kicked out of every public space, kicked off of every public space for the great sin of saying that men are not women, or that the system is not white supremacist, and that maybe certain people are underperforming because they&#8217;re making bad decisions in their life.
The Democratic Party wants a restricted informational sphere so as to ensure that their way of viewing the world is the way that the world is viewed by everyone.
And then they added one more thing on top of that: an extraordinary amount of gaslighting.
If they say, “DEI is great and we should absolutely advantage people on the basis of their sex and their race,” and you then say, ”Maybe they&#8217;re not qualified,” they call you a racist. That&#8217;s the gaslighting. They say something. You repeat it back to them, and then they tell you the thing you&#8217;re saying is actually racist or bad. That sort of gaslighting is just typical now of an extraordinary part of the Democratic Party.
The Democratic Party&#8217;s been playing with these forces for so long, it&#8217;s now too late for them to dissociate from those forces.
And all of it scares the hell out of a lot of Americans.
And it should because it is indeed radical stuff.
But as the Left has moved further to the left and embraced further radicalism as that has happened, you&#8217;ve seen an identitarian movement arise on the Right. 
If someone is opposed to Christianity and Christians because they&#8217;re “bad” and “terrible,” the normal response is to live Biblically, because the best disproof of that sort of slander is to live a Biblical lifestyle. Go to church; be good to your family; be good to your community; take care of people. The best response is to live well as a Christian. That is indeed the response of most Americans. 
When I was growing up, the response to the claim that America was a white supremacist country was to counter that America was a meritocracy. And meritocracy is good because meritocracy benefits everybody. That would be the normal response. 
The normal response to censorship is the Constitution. You want to censor? You can&#8217;t actually censor what I have to say, thanks to the government. 
Does that mean there aren&#8217;t social consequences for particularly egregious views? Of course not. That&#8217;s called normal life. You don&#8217;t have over the homeless schizophrenic for dinner who is screaming about the moon. You don’t invite the neo-Nazi who lives down the street over to have a nice chat with your kids, because those are views you don&#8217;t want in your home. 
That’s normal. That&#8217;s not cancellation. It&#8217;s not censorship. Censorship is a different thing. That is the normal response to being gaslit by people who are lying to you.
But in politics, the normal response is to smile very often. And people get frustrated. And because people are frustrated, what they tend to do is respond in kind. And this is how you end up with a horseshoe theory.
So if the Left says that white Christian males are the problem, the response winds up being that systems should only benefit white Christian males, not meritocracy. Meritocracy goes by the wayside because, after all, somebody has to win and somebody has to lose.
Thus, you&#8217;ve seen the rise of white identitarian politics. This is a fragment of the Right, not nearly the whole Right. It is not the mainstream on the Right. It is gaining increased traction on the Right, thanks to the apparent total inability of anybody on the Right to speak morally on these issues in a serious way.
Instead, there has been the attempt to massage this burgeoning feeling into a normality or legitimacy, the idea that if the Left is going to practice gaslighting and dishonesty, we too should practice gaslighting and dishonesty, that it doesn&#8217;t matter what we say as long as we achieve victory. Power is the only thing, and thus, calling other people out is now considered a form of censorship.
Criticizing a view is considered a form of censorship, which, of course, is really stupid. Criticism is not censorship. Stopping criticism, in fact, is a form of censorship. But the idea is that as long as you are on “my side,” it doesn&#8217;t matter what predations and idiocies you are spouting, as long as you are on “my side.”
Now the question becomes, what is “my side”? If I&#8217;m a person who responds with traditional Americanism to the idiocies, excesses and evils of the Left, with Biblical values, meritocracy and the Constitution, and if you say instead what we should respond with is a sort of pagan dishonesty, a DEI for white Christian males, discarding the Constitution in favor of a bizarre feeling of authoritarian tyranny, and I say, “You&#8217;re not on my side, clearly, we disagree about all the key issues,” then I get accused of “breaking the unity against the Left.”
But here&#8217;s the problem. If you agree with the Left by adopting this kind of identitarian politics, you just want a different class of people to benefit. How does that align with what most Americans want, and what that conservatism has historically stood for?
Unfortunately, this is the nature of our politics: reactionary politics.
The answer to the problem is to have a normie revolution, where people speak out in normal ways about the things that most Americans want, 80-20 issues. The vast majority of Americans believe in freedom of religion. The vast majority of Americans, even if they themselves do not go to church, believe that going to church is a generally good thing. The vast majority of Americans do not believe in governmental censorship, but they do believe in a certain sort of social standard whereby bizarre, outlandish, and evil views don&#8217;t necessarily receive a place at your dinner table.
Most Americans are very much in favor of meritocracy because that is a path forward for the entire civilization, and in fact, a path forward for those who work hard.
But if no one is going to articulate those principles, what you will end up with is a debate between the worst of the excesses on all sides, and people will just keep ping-ponging off each other. The pendulum will keep swinging wildly from side to side, and at no point will that 80% in the middle ever be receiving what they are asking for, which is just normality.
Americans have been begging for normality for at least 25 years in this country, begging for some semblance of a basic, normal life, and it&#8217;s not being given to them. 
If we keep going down this path, if we keep radicalizing and counter-radicalizing and radicalizing and counter-radicalizing, the middle won’t survive in America. 
And at that point, the things that I think most Americans care about, the things that I care about, the Constitution and meritocracy and freedom of religion and checks and balances of power and freedom of markets, all those things will go by the wayside because when the radicals predominate, it&#8217;s the normies who lose. 
At some point, the normies are going to have to stand up and say no.
Cooler heads and wiser heads are going to have to prevail.

People are lying about Charlie Kirk — and it may be they are trying to justify the violence against him. 
If your response to someone getting killed in the political realm is, “Man, too bad they were killed, but …” — if your response to that is to slander him by attributing to him beliefs he did not have, then you are part of the problem and fomenting the permission structure for violence. Charlie was as normie as they come. 
Jemele Hill, who has just made a joke of herself — it is shocking to me that at any point she was taken seriously — said Charlie believed in the <a href="https://x.com/JasonJournoDC/status/1966930974228328880">innate superiority</a> of white people. 
She is a liar. A liar. Anybody who knew Charlie, who consumed Charlie&#8217;s content, knows this isn’t true. It is an overt, complete lie, soup to nuts. Charlie literally fought a rhetorical war, a flame war with the Groypers, who do believe in white superiority. He fought to keep them out of his movement. It was called the Groyper Wars in 2019. I remember it because I was there.
“The reason he was labeled a white supremacist is because he believed in the superiority of white people, which is why he said that he would be concerned if he saw a black pilot, which is why he said that he questioned the brain processing of brilliant minds such as Joy-Ann Reid and Ketanji Brown Jackson, because he ultimately believed in the superiority of white people,” Hill stated.
She is such a liar. What he said about the black pilots was — in what is a commonly-made argument — that affirmative action assumes that black people need extra points in order to achieve the same result as a person who is not black. And what that does is seed doubt in the minds of people, who then see black people in particular slots, and that&#8217;s unfair to black people.
That was the argument that Charlie was making, that black people aren&#8217;t inferior and therefore don&#8217;t need extra points to become pilots, for example. They don’t need DEI to become good pilots. And when you stack DEI on top of the meritocracy, what you end up with is a false perception of the inferiority of particular peoples.
What Charlie said was &#8220;anti-racist.&#8221;
As far as his point about Ketanji Brown Jackson or Joy Reid not being particularly bright, he was correct, because they are not. It turns out they&#8217;re a bunch of white people who are also dumb. These happen to be black people who are dumb. Who cares?
Charlie didn&#8217;t do that because of their race; he said it because they are truly dumb.
Don Lemon — who couldn&#8217;t hold down that job over at CNN and who now has a viewership of only my viewers  — because his only viewership is when we play his clips on my show — was very upset with all the tributes being paid to Charlie. He tore into Charlie, saying, “The things that came out of Charlie Kirk&#8217;s mouth were many. Much of it was hurtful, discriminatory, ignorant. And I&#8217;ll stop there, to say the least.”
If Don Lemon says so, it must be false.
A pastor named Howard-John Wesley at the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., <a href="https://x.com/etanthomas36/status/1967311612559413483">went viral</a> over the course of the last 48 hours for issuing a massive rebuke of Charlie, yelling: 
<blockquote>But I’m overwhelmed, seeing the flags of the United States of America at half-staff, calling this nation to honor and venerate a man who was an unapologetic racist and spent all of his life sowing seeds of division and hate into this land. And hearing people with selective rage, who are mad about Charlie Kirk but didn’t give a damn about Melissa Hortman and her husband when they were shot down in their home, tell me I ought to have compassion for the death of a man who had no respect for my own life. I am sorry, but there is nowhere in Bible where we are taught to honor evil. And how you die does not redeem how you lived.</blockquote>
How disgusting. Truly disgusting. Nothing he said is true. It’s this kind of rhetoric, calling Charlie “evil,” — not ISIS, not Hamas — that is all part and parcel of the far-Left attempt to paint everyone on the Right as the worst version of evil.
Longtime Washington Post writer Karen Attia was fired after falsely quoting Charlie. She accused Charlie of <a href="https://karenattiah.substack.com/p/the-washington-post-fired-me-but">saying</a>, “Black women do not have the brain processing power to be taken seriously. You have to go steal a white person’s slot.”
There should be consequences for saying vile things in the real world. We have to be pretty careful about where we apply those consequences — but we shouldn&#8217;t pretend that there should be no consequences in the real world.
And lying about Charlie in the wake of his death is truly despicable.

I want to define cancel culture because I think people are equating many different things that are not cancel culture.
If you cancel or criticize someone, for example, that is not a legal ban on their behavior; that is social ostracization; sanction for behavior or opinion. Not legal sanction, not banning people, not trying to jail people, just people not wanting to hang out with you.
Cancellation can range from people criticizing you to people wanting to not hang out with you, to people firing you, to people deciding no one can hire you. It’s a whole range of activity.
There are basically three generalized perspectives on cancel culture. 
One: Any violation of any taboo ought to be treated with the harshest possible measure of cancellation, ruining people&#8217;s lives for any level of rhetorical transgression. 
Two: No one should ever be canceled for any reason. So no criticism, no social ostracization, no calling out, nothing. You can say whatever you want and there will be no consequences.
Three: the more moderate, complex and true perspective, which is that some behaviors or opinions are genuinely disgusting and should receive social sanction and other behavior should not. The level of forgiveness and social sanction ought to vary, because you might be talking about whether you want to have dinner with somebody or you might be talking about whether someone should be able to hold a job — which is much, much harsher — or you might be talking about whether or not you want somebody in your school.
The problem with the first perspective is that it is censorious. It prevents useful conversations from happening. It&#8217;s unforgiving, it&#8217;s uncharitable. For roughly 20 years in this country we saw people being canceled, socially ostracized, losing jobs, losing career opportunities, or being destroyed for correct opinions such as “Men are not women” or for saying a word in Mandarin that sounded like the N-word. Social media mobs were activated in order to destroy people who violated any taboo. The lines were bright, and if you crossed the line, you were destroyed.

This led to a reactionary response, which moved to perspective number two, that cancellation should never happen. No criticism, no social sanction, that criticism is never, ever the answer, which is where we are now.
The problem with this perspective is that if there is never any social sanction or criticism or ostracization for bad behavior or terrible opinion, that&#8217;s moral relativism, in which the ugliest opinions and expressions are supposed to be given equal credibility with decent or even controversial but useful opinions.
The real answer in a normal society would be number three: Sometimes people deserve the social consequences for what they do. Not always, but sometimes. And the social consequences can vary. They aren&#8217;t irrevocable. In certain circumstances, forgiveness could be possible.
For example, in the normal world, you don&#8217;t have a duty as a business owner to hire or to have dinner with someone who shouts the N-word at children or who says that white people are colonizers and evil.
But in that normal world, it would be a bad thing to do to post that person&#8217;s address online so people can go to their house and harass them.
In the real world, you have every right to avoid buying a Bud Light because the company claimed that men can be women. Or you don&#8217;t want to engage with a company that says the police are systemically racist.
But you also shouldn&#8217;t go to the home of the CEO and threaten to burn down his house.
The informal standards of the social fabric used to work well because most issues remained personal. But social media has made everything worse because now there&#8217;s always a mob waiting to form.
That’s all social media is: a mob waiting to form around an issue, just like white blood cells in your immune system waiting for something to attack.
Mobs form to destroy people. And so we are all forced to decide on the spot whether we think a person is bad or good, hero or villain, deserving of shame or support.
The biggest issue is that we have lost the boundaries of what is informal or acceptable debate. We&#8217;re descending into a world of either total cancellation for everyone with whom we disagree or total support for bad behavior in order to fight total cancellation.
Here’s the point: these two perspectives are mutually reinforcing. The moral relativism of “There should be no social consequences or criticism for anything” leads people who don&#8217;t like the stuff that&#8217;s being said to call for more social consequences, which leads to more reactionary moral relativism, which leads to more social consequences, and back and forth until the end of time.
We should totally oppose obviously inappropriate cancellation; we should allow forgiveness where appropriate. People should ask for forgiveness and we should give it to them.
The bottom line is that if we are going to share a society together, a social fabric does require a more nuanced view of how we treat the things that we don&#8217;t like. And that nuanced view can&#8217;t just be “cancel everyone” or “cancel no one.”
As our common moral standards degrade, our society is going to continue to fall apart through a sort of reactionary cycling between the “cancel everyone” side and the “cancel no one” side.
Unless we find a better way to communicate.

The Met Gala , which means nothing to most of us, is very important to the cultural glitterati, the people who make culture.
The Met Gala is the Marie Antoinette of the modern American landscape. Every year, a bunch of very rich and very famous people get enormous attention for wearing some of the most bizarre and expensive garbage imaginable while the rest of the country tries to pay its bills.
And then we are told that those rich people are brave and groundbreaking for doing so.
Ironically, the theme of this year&#8217;s Met Gala was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Clearly, when this year’s event was originally considered, people thought Kamala Harris was going to be president of the United States. It was designed as a celebration party for the nation&#8217;s second black president, Kamala Harris.  
And then she lost.
And so now we are in this weird nether region in which the Left continues to whine that Kamala Harris should have won the election, even though she lost.
The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/05/style/met-gala-2025-black-dandy-politics.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>:
<blockquote>Last October, when the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute announced its next fashion show, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the political landscape looked very different.
Kamala Harris, the first female vice president and the first Black woman ever to top a major-party ticket, was in the final weeks of her campaign for the White House. The show, the culmination of five years of work by Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s curator in charge, to diversify the department’s holdings and shows in the wake of the racial reckoning brought about by George Floyd’s murder, seemed long overdue.</blockquote>
Right. There was nothing that was longer overdue than a fashion show about black fashion. That is why George Floyd died, so the Met Gala could have extraordinarily rich and famous people wear bizarre outfits worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Clearly, that was necessary.
The Times continued:
<blockquote>On Monday, however, when it finally opens to the starry guests at its signature gala, the splashiest party of the year, it will do so in a very different world. One in which the federal government has functionally declared war on diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as programming related to race — especially in cultural institutions.</blockquote>
The theme of this year&#8217;s Met Gala was based on an <a href="https://www.metmuseum.org/exhibitions/superfine-tailoring-black-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exhibit</a> at the Met Museum that:
<blockquote>explores the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe. Through a presentation of garments and accessories, paintings, photographs, decorative arts, and more, from the 18th century to today, the exhibition interprets the concept of dandyism as both an aesthetic and a strategy that allowed for new social and political possibilities.</blockquote>
The apparent goal was to recreate the mood of outfits that were worn by black people in resistance to white supremacy. The Metropolitan Museum wrote:
<blockquote>Together, these characteristics demonstrate how one’s self-presentation is a mode of distinction and resistance—within a society impacted by race, gender, class, and sexuality. Together, these characteristics demonstrate how one&#8217;s self-presentation is a mode of distinction and resistance within a society impacted by race, gender, class, and sexuality.</blockquote>
You might notice that this is not the sartorial splendor for black people of the past; in fact, if you watch movies and shows that are made about the early 20th century, there was a form of black fashion and it was actually quite cool.
But that is not what this was, because the Gala had to be used to prop up the ideology that suggests that being black is equivalent to being gay, is equivalent to being transgender, is equivalent to being transgressive in virtually all of its forms.

This Gala was race-directed. The Left is going to have to confront a backlash because the American people are tired of DEI; it was one of the main reasons why Democrats lost in the last election cycle. Americans are extraordinarily tired of thinking tribally along racial lines.
So many of the DEI traps about race are Catch-22s; on the one hand, there can be a suggestion that if a historically black area has a lot of investment and white people drive up the real estate prices, this is “gentrification” and “wrecking the neighborhood.” But if white people move out of that area, then that is called “white flight.”
The same thing holds true when it comes to things such as fashion. If white people pay tribute to black people through fashion, then that is cultural appropriation. And if they don&#8217;t, then that is neglecting the impact of black fashion on America and the West.
Let&#8217;s put it this way: If the future of the Democratic Party is re-embracing DEI through an effete fashionista sensibility, good luck to the Democrats. This is precisely the kind of crap that most Americans are ready to end. This is not a reversion to normality. It&#8217;s a reversion to Bizarre World.
The class differentiation at the Met Gala is what sets it apart, but the attempt to cut the class differentiation by reference to race is a giant failure.
The Democrats wonder why blue-collar voters of every stripe moved away from them? It’s because the actual morality that drives the Democratic Party is a snooty elitism that sneers at people who don&#8217;t have the same aesthetic tastes that they do.
I don&#8217;t have the same aesthetic taste as many Americans; I listen to classical music; I&#8217;m an Orthodox Jew, and my aesthetic and cultural tastes might not necessarily be the same as a blue-collar worker from Wisconsin. But that doesn&#8217;t mean that my aesthetic and cultural tastes are better than the blue-collar workers from Wisconsin.
What reeks from all of the pictures of the people at the Gala is a disdain for normal Americans.
And that is why Donald Trump is president.

Controversy has reared its head again in the Pajaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) in California. The district recently convened a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwPu4CQ_rZk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">special board meeting</a> to deliberate on its Ethnic Studies curriculum and the potential renewal of a contract with Community Responsive Education (CRE). <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-a-new-ethnic-studies-curriculum-promotes-anti-semitism-in-california">As I reported last month,</a> the State of California previously rejected the draft Ethnic Studies curriculum co-authored by CRE founder and director Allyson Tintiangco-Cubales, which was deemed to promote antisemitism and neo-Marxist ideology.
Though the district’s multi-stage contract with CRE was canceled in 2023 amidst the controversy, Tintiangco-Cubales’s ideas live on. No wonder many are concerned that PVUSD is considering a renewed contract with CRE.
The meeting made it clear that PVUSD was fully aware of the nature of CRE’s philosophy when it was previously considered for the Ethnic Studies curriculum. Assistant Superintendent Claudia Monjaras argued in her presentation to the board that CRE did not develop the curriculum — that the district’s staff developed the curriculum with only support from CRE. Yet the reality is that the core ideas and philosophy of CRE remain central to the curriculum. 
Ms. Monjaras’s characterization of the curriculum as being primarily a product of her team is akin to an individual arguing in traffic court that an external influence, namely alcohol, had little bearing on their reckless driving. Similarly, the philosophical underpinnings of CRE are deeply interwoven into the curriculum and cannot be dismissed as incidental or superficial contributions.
The special <a href="https://go.boarddocs.com/ca/pvusd/Board.nsf/files/DEXVZ7831F15/$file/Special%20Board%20Mtg%20Packet.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">board meeting packet</a> and <a href="https://go.boarddocs.com/ca/pvusd/Board.nsf/files/DEXW2N835755/$file/3.28%20ES%20Special%20Study%20Session%20(1).pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PowerPoint presentation</a> referenced at the meeting makes the goal of Ethnic Studies clear: “The vision of Ethnic Studies in Pajaro Valley Unified School District is to provide rich learning that centers experiences, stories, and knowledge of Ethnic Studies groups while also shaping a lens to understand and critique dominant power structures, ultimately to eliminate racism and intersectional forms of oppression. Ethnic Studies will provide a culturally and community-responsive education values the F.I.E.L.D.S in and of Pajaro Valley.” This may be laudable in certain contexts, but I fail to see how these lofty aims relate to the mission of any school district.
Throughout the meeting, CRE supporters among both staff and public commenters repeatedly used terms such as “solidarity,” “oppression,” “systems of power,” “dominant narratives,” “intersectionality,” “lived experience,” “white supremacy,” and “critical consciousness” — all of which are hallmark concepts of neo-Marxist Critical Race Theory (CRT). It is concerning that these loaded ideological terms are being introduced surreptitiously without clear acknowledgment of the underlying philosophy and its appropriateness for K-12 education.
The adoption of such ideology promotes a backward-looking worldview, which both lacks a constructive vision of the future and fails to recognize that significant social progress has been made over the past several decades. Instead of fostering hope and optimism, this framework is mired in grievances that suggest a cultural regression of a century ago.

In its “Ethnic Studies Framework &amp; Guiding” document (board meeting packet), PVUSD borrows the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raised_fist" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clenched black power fist</a> rising out of a book with a pencil in hand as its logo. This clenched fist has most recently been associated with the <a href="https://www.capitalfm.com/news/black-lives-matter/blm-black-power-fist-symbol-meaning-history/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Lives Matter (BLM)</a> movement in 2020 and also closely associated with the struggle for Black civil rights. However, the <a href="https://www.rd.com/article/history-behind-the-clenched-first-and-the-symbol-for-black-power/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clenched symbol</a> also has historical significance in 19th century Europe, where it represented revolutionary courage against European monarchies. The symbol ties in perfectly with neo-Marxist thought of revolution to overthrow what are perceived to be dominant power structures of oppression in current day America.
The state of California <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB101" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mandates</a> only a single semester-long course of Ethnic Studies for students to earn a high school diploma, whose current model curriculum could have adequately served as the foundation for PVUSD’s ethnic studies efforts. While the mandate is reasonable, PVUSD’s approach of embedding Ethnic Studies seen through a CRT lens into a multi-year endeavor in English courses crosses into the territory of indoctrination rather than education. Investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a curriculum tied to CRE and neo-Marxist ideology, which had been rejected by the state because of its controversial nature, represents both a financial and educational misstep.
Given PVUSD’s current English and math achievement challenges, prioritizing Ethnic Studies to this degree is misaligned with the district’s most pressing needs. During the 2023-2024 school year, only <a href="https://go.boarddocs.com/ca/pvusd/Board.nsf/files/DDK29600FC8D/$file/2024_SARC%20Pajaro_Valley_High_School_20250123.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">25%</a> of students met or exceeded state standards in English, while only 18% achieved the same in mathematics. The funds already spent — and those proposed on Ethnic Studies — would have been better utilized to enhance student academic performance. The purpose of K-12 education is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive as contributing members of society, not to cultivate the next generation of social activists. Teaching social activism should never take precedence over academic achievement.
California school districts must learn from PVUSD’s missteps and focus on their fundamental mission: educating students. The integration of divisive ideologies into the curriculum undermines this mission, shifting the focus away from preparing students for productive futures. The PVUSD board should reject controversial influences and return to the state-provided model as a guide that emphasizes balanced, inclusive education.
Ethnic Studies should aim to educate students about diverse histories and cultures in a way that fosters unity and forward-looking ideals, rather than perpetuating divisive rhetoric and outdated grievances. The focus must remain on education, not indoctrination, ensuring that students gain both historical awareness and the tools to envision a brighter, more connected future.

Trump’s November 5 victory found him increasing his share of minority voters. Bigly. One small Texas town <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/starr-county-texas-most-hispanic-county-donald-trump-1981230" target="_blank" rel="noopener">with 97% Hispanic voters</a>, flipped for Trump. The president-elect also named several talented people of color to key positions, including Kash Patel (FBI) and Harmeet Dhillon (Assistant AG).
And few leaders flex their pro-Israel muscles quite like Trump. Worst white supremacist ever.
Tell that to entertainment scribes and select filmmakers. They’re still bookmarking pages from the 2016 playbook. Toward that end, they’re weaponizing the new, fact-based thriller &#8220;The Order&#8221; to slam all things MAGA as racist.

The film stars Jude Law as an FBI agent tracking down a hate group known as The Order, led by the charismatic Bob Mathews (Nicholas Hoult). The real group carried out serial crimes in the 1980s, including the slaying of Denver-based radio talker Alan Berg (played by Marc Maron in the film).
Deadline.com shared the film’s screenplay on its site, saying the film had &#8220;<a href="https://deadline.com/2024/12/the-order-script-read-the-screenplay-zach-baylin-1236199048/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">modern relevance</a>.&#8221; Wink-wink.
<blockquote>As they researched, [Zach] Baylin and producer Bryan Haas saw the parallels to the current rise of white nationalism around the world and in the U.S., developing the screenplay with that front of mind. Kurzel said he got the script three months before the January 6, 2021 attack at the U.S. Capitol. </blockquote>
Subtle.
The Hollywood Reporter made a <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/the-order-jude-law-nicholas-hoult-white-supremacists-1236033477/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">direct connection</a> between the film’s subject matter and Trump.
<blockquote>Indeed, the film — hitting theaters roughly a month after the U.S. presidential election — feels particularly of the moment, arriving at a time of increased debate surrounding the espousing of racist views on social media and the support that former President Donald Trump receives from neo-Nazis and hate groups. </blockquote>
The film’s producer, Stuart Ford, <a href="https://variety.com/2024/film/global/jude-law-thriller-the-order-trumpian-zeitgeist-u-s-movie-theatres-producer-stuart-ford-1236231640/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leaned into</a> the Trump factor in press interviews. Journalists were all too eager to regurgitate the talking points sans challenge.
Ford said that “There is no doubt” that “The Order” fits into the Trumpian Zeitgeist. “Unfortunately, the relevance of the film speaks for itself,” he noted.
Law, Hoult, and Baylin <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/morning-joe/watch/-the-order-inspired-by-a-dark-untold-chapter-in-american-history-226368069640" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joined “Morning Joe” on MSNBC</a> to promote the Oscar-season release. We’ll assume the film’s publicist didn’t bend the ear of any Fox News host.

Law said the film “has a resonance to today,” without elaborating. Host Joe Scarborough egged the cast members and Baylin, hoping to snag some anti-Trump sound bites but the artists didn’t bite.
Film critics had far less restraint.
The far-Left Rolling Stone ended its <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-reviews/the-order-review-jude-law-neo-nazis-1235182646/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">review of “The Order”</a> with this overwrought prose.
<blockquote>“In 10 years, we’ll have members in the Senate,” one racist figurehead says [in the film]. He was only off by a few decades. </blockquote>
Variety’s Trump Derangement Critic in chief, Owen Gleiberman, let his <a href="https://variety.com/2024/film/reviews/the-order-review-jude-law-nicholas-hoult-venice-film-festival-1236125318/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MAGA rage fester unchecked.</a>
<blockquote>“The Order,” while scrupulously true to the events of 1983 and 1984, presents itself as a cautionary allegory of what’s happening today: the entwined rise of MAGA and Christian nationalism and the racist dog whistles (and, at times, racist sirens) of Donald Trump’s campaign to take over America. </blockquote>
He might want to follow <a href="https://legalinsurrection.com/2024/11/anti-trump-filmmaker-rob-reiner-has-checked-himself-into-a-facility-following-the-2024-election/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">director Rob Reiner’s lead</a> and check himself into a “facility.”
Entertainment Weekly brought up the <a href="https://ew.com/the-order-review-jude-law-nicholas-hoult-face-off-solid-crime-thriller-8709204" target="_blank" rel="noopener">modern-day “connections</a>,” too, particularly in its final sentences.
<blockquote>But the film is also a chilling slice of historical memory in the ways it studies one of the earliest iterations of the version of white nationalism currently insinuating itself into American politics — and its haunting understanding of the insidious creep of such beliefs. </blockquote>
Suffice it to say the author isn’t referring to far-Left college students chasing Jews off campus or pro-Hamas rallies happening nationwide. Left unmentioned? Hostage posters torn down by shrieking Palestinian sympathizers.
And we may never see a film where three Ivy League school presidents fail to properly condemn anti-Semitism on Capitol Hill, shaming themselves and their institutions in the process.
Maybe Angel Studios will make that movie some day.

The biggest irony? “The Order” doesn’t stop the story cold to deliver lectures on the evils of white supremacy. Nor does it insert Trumpian parallels into the script beyond a fleeting reference to “storming the capitol.” It’s a well-crafted thriller with a powerhouse turn from Law.
The nuts and bolts of the story are stripped from actual events. End of story, at least technically. It’s like a 1970s movie made in 2024, with woke kept off screen.
Yet the film wraps with a text coda suggesting the January 6 rioters were inspired by “The Turner Diaries,” a hateful text that influenced “The Order’s” real-world monsters.
The film’s Australian director, Justin Kurzel, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/order-movie-jude-law-9bb1ff78dc29ffa5bcd498173f8e9b86" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claims he saw a Jan. 6 protester holding that book</a>, as if Trump supporters made sure to bring such a text along for some light reading. Others have made that connection without tangible proof.
Plus, the Jan. 6 protests were racially diverse like many Trump rallies over the past few years. That’s no excuse for the rioters who fought police and shamed the nation with their violence. Their impetus was based on a mistrust of the election results, not neo-Nazi cosplaying.

Days after the October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks, a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/massachusetts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Massachusetts</a> school district known for <a href="https://www.cpsd.us/departments/human_resources/diversity_and_cultural_proficiency" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushing</a> diversity, equity, and inclusion was accused of supporting white supremacy because of its response to the attacks, according to emails viewed by The Daily Wire. 
On October 13, a sixth grade science teacher at Vassal Lane Upper School in the Cambridge Public School District accused the administration of supporting “white colonists” and criticized them for using the word “terrorist,” according to an <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Email-1_Redacted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">email</a> obtained by Parents Defending Education and shared with The Daily Wire. The teacher, who is a self-described “white Jewish educator,” was responding to a message that went out on October 12 called “Israel-Hamas War.” 
“In your message yesterday, you communicated that CPS [Cambridge Public Schools] places more value on white lives than brown Muslim lives,” the teacher wrote. “A few thoughts on word choice: The word terrorist brings deeply racialized connotations. You conspicuously did not mention Palestine or Gaza, therefore not including any of our community with connections to those places and people in your extension of care. Israelis are ‘innocent civilians’ but Palestinians simply do not exist.”
While acknowledging that there were “acts of violence” being committed against Israelis, the teacher attacked “white parents,” saying the district only cared when white people were being harmed. 
“Your email ignored this entire picture of life for brown, Muslim Palestinians, and in doing so, told your employees, students, and the people of Cambridge that when a group of highly educated, white parents tells you to abandon your values of racial justice and human dignity for all, you will do so. You have told us that white lives matter and all lives matter, rather than naming the brown lives that matter,” the email said. 
The teacher added that the district had chosen “white supremacy over human rights” and that the “current crisis is clearly a humanitarian one caused by white nationalist rhetoric.” 
Erika Sanzi, the director of outreach for Parents Defending Education, told The Daily Wire that it was concerning that a teacher in the district was going after parents because of their skin color. 
&#8220;Like so many districts, Cambridge employs fanatical people who think that condemning Hamas for the October 7th massacre is white supremacy and can&#8217;t abide parents who stand up for Israel if they are white,” Sanzi said. “This seems disqualifying for a public employee who works with other people&#8217;s children.&#8221;
The Daily Wire asked Cambridge Public Schools to provide a copy of the October 12 message that prompted the anger of the teacher as well as a <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Email-7.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">group of Muslim parents</a> in the district.

A previous statement from District Superintendent Victoria Greer on October 9 only made generic comments related to the attack without referencing Hamas.  
“I want to take a moment to acknowledge the conflict that has unfolded between Israel and Palestine,” Greer <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/First-Statement.pdf">wrote</a>. “Our thoughts and hearts are with the Israeli and Palestinian people, particularly those near and far who have been impacted by the unrest.”
On October 11, the district’s communications director wrote in an <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Email-2_Redacted.pdf">email</a> that they needed to be more explicit in their condemnation of Hamas in their future messages, sharing a tweet from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that condemned both Hamas and Israel. 
Other emails from teachers in the district are critical of Greer&#8217;s comments related to the October 7 attacks. The Daily Wire asked the district if they had altered their messaging in any way after the criticism from teachers. 
On Wednesday, Greer was given a 90-day notice to resign by the Cambridge School Committee. Greer has been facing criticism from the community over her handling of hiring and alleged toxicity, <a href="https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2024/5/30/cambridge-school-committee-asks-greer-resign/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to The Harvard Crimson. 
In the wake of the Hamas terror attack, radical activist groups across the country <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ethnic-studies-groups-bringing-pro-palestinian-anti-western-curriculum-to-schools-parents-group-warns" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have worked</a> to get educators to integrate anti-American, pro-Palestinian, and anti-colonialist resources from a plethora of leftist organizations into their classrooms.
