President Joe Biden used his bully pulpit at the annual White House Correspondents&#8217; Dinner to warn journalists about the risks and dangers posed by &#8220;disinformation&#8221; — and spread a little disinformation of his own in the process.
During his brief remarks at Sunday evening&#8217;s dinner, Biden framed the 2024 presidential race as a choice that would determine whether democracy was &#8220;still the sacred cause of America,&#8221; suggesting that the answer to that question was no unless the people reelected him.
Biden went on to say that unless the people had the right information, they couldn&#8217;t make the right decision — and he called on journalists to &#8220;rise up to the seriousness&#8221; of the situation.

Biden then turned to attack former President Donald Trump, delivering a series of partial truths and out-of-context quotes.
&#8220;The defeated former President has made no secret of his attack on our democracy he said he wants to be a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/in-a-stunning-act-of-bravery-the-atlantic-claims-trump-will-be-a-dictator" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dictator</a> on day one and so much more. He tells supporters he is the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-on-second-term-im-not-going-to-have-time-for-retribution" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revenge and retribution</a>. When in God&#8217;s name ever heard of another president say something like that? And he promised a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/medias-wall-to-wall-coverage-of-trump-bloodbath-comment-delivers-zero-context" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bloodbath</a> when he loses again,&#8221; Biden said.
He then pivoted back to the press, claiming that he was not asking them to &#8220;take sides&#8221; while pressing them to push back against Trump: &#8220;We have to take this seriously. Eight years ago, it could have been written off as just Trump talk but no longer, not after January 6. I&#8217;m sincerely not asking you to take sides, but asking a rise up to the seriousness of the moment.&#8221;

Anti-Israel protesters swarmed the streets surrounding Saturday evening&#8217;s White House Correspondents&#8217; Dinner, shouting at attendees and draping a massive Palestinian flag from one of the windows of the host hotel.
Associated Press reporter Farnoush Amiri commented on the crowds waiting outside the venue, saying that the scene before her was very different than it had been in years past.

“The WHCD is perhaps the best example of why Americans feel alienated by the Washington DC elite class – all of whom are supposed to be checks and balances on one another, but who are actually all part of the same blob,” Shapiro wrote in a Twitter thread.
The annual White House Correspondents Dinner was held Saturday evening in Washington, D.C., with journalists from major networks such as CBS and Fox News partying alongside numerous Republicans and Democratic leaders, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The event also featured stars from sports, Hollywood, fashion, and elsewhere, such as actress Chrissy Teigen and WNBA star and former Russian prisoner Brittany Griner.
Biden attended for the second year in a row after the dinner was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID-19. Former President Donald Trump shunned the event for three years amid his adversarial relations with major media outlets in New York and Washington.
Shapiro took aim at some of the more blatant examples of what he dubbed the “blob” culture on display at the event.

The journalist Shapiro referenced was Matt Viser of The Washington Post. The White House Correspondents Association, which hosts the WHCD, awarded Viser the Aldo Beckman Award for Overall Excellence in White House Coverage for his coverage of Biden, specifically Viser’s coverage of Biden’s faith.
“The judges said Matt Viser stood out among his competitors for work that went beyond the humdrum of covering the managed events of the presidency and the White House. Viser captured the spirit of Joe Biden, particularly with stories about the president’s brother and how his Catholic faith influenced his strategic vision of the office,” said Karen Travers, the White House correspondent for ABC News who announced the award.

Biden’s devotion to his Catholic faith often comes into question when he touts his support for policies such as abortion, gay marriage, and sex-change surgeries for minors. The contradictions between Biden’s politics and the tenets of his professed religion have been minimized in Viser’s stories.
“Biden is arguably the most observant president in decades, and his faith is a core part of his identity. He rarely misses Mass. He crosses himself in public. He quotes scripture, he cites hymns and he clutches rosary beads ahead of key decisions,” Viser wrote of Biden in a June 2021 <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/biden-catholic-bishops/2021/06/18/acf576c0-d04a-11eb-a7f1-52b8870bef7c_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, which characterized Biden’s views as part of a “church battle between traditionalists and reformers.”
The WHCA award was the target of some mockery and criticism online.

Just reflect on how the press treated VP Pence when it was revealed his wife was a teacher at a Christian school,” Hudson Institute senior fellow Rebeccah Heinrichs <a href="https://twitter.com/RLHeinrichs/status/1652764380226781188" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “It was like every newsroom discovered orthodox Christian views and lost their minds. But the faith of the president ‘overseeing’ the most anti-orthodox Christian secular admin in the nation’s history? charming.”

Unfortunately for the press corps, its members didn&#8217;t realize President Joe Biden was laughing at the media — not with it — throughout the evening.

The president typically makes a number of wisecracks meant in good fun, but that one was a clear mockery of the so-called reporters who cover the president.

The crowd chortled again. Why? Because it&#8217;s true. They know that journalists, by and large, have a double standard.
That&#8217;s what makes Biden&#8217;s disrespect for the press so incredulous. He has to face friendly journalists, and he still avoids them. Imagine if America had an actual media complex that held the president accountable.
We don&#8217;t. Biden knows that, and he laughs right in their faces about it.

Welp, Saturday night is the annual &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/white-house-correspondents-association" target="_blank" rel="noopener">White House Correspondents&#8217; Association Dinner</a>&#8221; and the Beltway media crowd is particularly elated because both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will be in attendance.
Most in attendance view themselves as the cornerstone of Democracy, when in actuality they are propagandists for the professional political class. But one veteran journalist is offering advice to his colleagues while cautioning Americans to watch out for what he dubs the &#8220;most dangerous&#8221; kind of reporter.

Rosen praised many of his fellow press pool participants, acknowledging that they do actual journalism.

Rosen also admonished the White House for their contempt of journalism. He seems to be the only member of the press, save maybe Peter Doocey and <a href="https://twitter.com/simonateba" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Simon Ateba</a>, who acknowledges that Biden and his lackeys, such as White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, treat the press with utter disdain. KJP rarely gives straightforward answers, the president shies away from off-the-cuff questions, and his team dreams about censoring so-called &#8220;misinformation&#8221; and squashing free speech.

At least @realDonaldTrump, his own contempt for the press notwithstanding, stayed away from the dinner and spared us the hypocrisy.&#8221;
Rosen also had some advice for the current White House Correspondents Association president, Tamara Keith of NPR. In that role, she&#8217;ll give an address Saturday night at the dinner in Washington, D.C.

Well, to be blunt, Rosen&#8217;s caution about lapdog media who simply regurgitate Democratic talking points is refreshing., but from an outsider&#8217;s perspective, that comprises roughly 90% of corporate media. As for whether NPR&#8217;s Keith holds Biden accountable Saturday night, NPR&#8217;s coverage of the presidency doesn&#8217;t lend one to believe that will be the case. But, here&#8217;s to hoping.

When COVID-19 first came ashore in America — long before scientists really knew anything about the coronavirus — the top brains said in one breathless voice: Wash your hands!
The big dogs said wash, wash, wash, maybe wear gloves, don’t touch your face, blah blah blah. Yeah, no. Turns out there’s almost no surface transmission of COVID-19. Nearly none.
Now, you would think that the smart people running things (they must be smart ’cause they’re running things, right?) would’ve said, “Hang on, let’s study this thing first, collect some data, and then come up with some conclusions and courses of action.”
But no, instead, everyone was saying everything all at the same time — and the mainstream media was laughing all the way to the bank. “It turns out the pandemic is a pretty big part of the news cycle and that’s not going away anytime soon,” WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar said in March 2021. “It turns out it’s really good for ratings.”
If it bleeds it leads, amirite?
Before the fact-checkers get their undies in a wad, let’s be clear: COVID-19 was pretty bad (for old and fat people and those with comorbidities). It did kill 993,996 Americans as of Tuesday (and if you’re keeping score at home, 596,599 came on President Biden’s watch).
For the record, 925,931 of those deaths were people 50 years old and older. And if you go “classic old” (65 and above), it turns out nearly 7 in 10 deaths (74.4) were in that age bracket. So yes, mostly “old” people.
So it’s bad, but eh, not that bad. There are 320 million people in America, so we’re talking less than a third of 1%. For comparison, COVID-19 has killed 6.3 million people worldwide; the 1918 influenza pandemic killed at least 50 million, with some estimates running as high as 100 million.
But let’s get to the real Debbie Downer of the pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top U.S. immunologist.
Back in March 2020, Fauci declared, “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”
“When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is,” the doctor said on CBS News.
Yeah, so, wrong. Turns out it’s mostly airborne.
Then this in January 2021, Fauci said wearing two masks is likely more effective than wearing one. “If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on it, just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective,” he told NBC News.
Duh. Wrong again. In fact, mask-wearing has been proven to be barely effective, especially with the <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2022/01/05/cloth-masks-not-effective-omicron-covid/9091574002/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Omicron variant</a>.
Jump to last week. Fauci declared on Tuesday that the “pandemic phase” is over. But that was refuted the next day — by Fauci. Yup, the doc walked it all back — maybe after a miffed Biden got to him — and said, “by no means does that mean the pandemic is over.”
Then this: Fauci announced on Thursday he would not attend the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, which was held Saturday. Fauci was invited by ABC News “and had planned on going,” CNN reported, but he “decided to abandon those plans and inform ABC that he would no longer attend because of an individual assessment of his own personal risk.”
Yup, 2,500 people in a room is too scary for the immunologist — but that didn’t keep him from attending the swanky white-tie Gridiron gala last month.
Forget all that. You’re in the Fauci Vortex, where up is down.
Finally, (hypocrisy alert) a maskless Fauci was photographed attending a packed pre-dinner brunch on Saturday afternoon. And we’ve been to that brunch in years past — it’s packed to the gills. In fact, Fauci was snapped schmoozing it up all over the brunch, all with maskless garden party goers. He do get around, don’t he?
And now, after all that, Fauci is back to his doomsday predictions about another wave of death and destruction from whatever variant is out there now.
Comedian David Spade summed it all up in a show he did Sunday just outside Washington. Speaking as Fauci, he warned, “We have no data now, but it’s gonna be worse! It’s gonna be worse than Rocky 5!”
Now that we all know just what a hypocrite Fauci is, the question must be asked: When will he just go away? He’s 81, the highest-paid employee in the entire federal government (he gets more than the president), and he keeps getting everything wrong — and not practicing what he preaches, just like all Democrats have done from the beginning.
It’s time to go, Dr. Grouchy. We’re finally — finally — onto you.

Journalists from half a dozen news outlets have tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the White House Correspondents&#8217; Association (WHCA) dinner, including ABC’s Jonathan Karl, who dined with Kim Kardashian and shook hands with President Joe Biden, according to new reports.
The dinner, held Saturday at the Washington Hilton and attended by 2,500 politicos, journalists, and celebrities, did not require attendees to wear masks.
&#8220;In the days since WHCD weekend, reporters and staffers from CNN, ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, Politico, and other participating news organizations have tested positive for the virus,&#8221; CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/03/media/jonathan-karl-positive-covid-white-house-correspondents-dinner/index.html">reported</a>.
&#8220;[M]uch of Tuesday afternoon seemed to consist of attendees trading text messages and emails about colleagues and friends and people they had seen who had tested positive. That&#8217;s almost certainly going to continue in the days ahead,&#8221; CNN&#8217;s senior media reporter Oliver Darcy wrote.
Darcy spoke with WHCA President Steven Portnoy, who he quoted as saying: &#8220;We worked hard to publicize our protocols and encouraged those eligible to get booster shots in the weeks leading up to the dinner. Our event implemented protocols that went beyond any guidance or regulation issued by the CDC or the DC health department. We wish anyone who may not be feeling well a speedy recovery.&#8221;
CNN also noted that &#8220;While Karl did shake Biden&#8217;s hand at the dinner, to have gone on-stage at the event he would have had to have taken a medically certified proctored test that the White House uses because it believes it to be a measure of infectiousness, a source told me.&#8221;
Karl was on stage to receive the “Excellence in Presidential Coverage Under Deadline Pressure” award.  &#8220;He appeared on the dais, received his prize, shook hands with several others there, including Biden, and subsequently spoke at the microphone. Karl was also pictured at a table sitting next to Kardashian and one spot over from her boyfriend, Pete Davidson,&#8221; Politico <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/03/jonathan-karl-positive-covid-kim-kardashian-00029712">reported</a>.
“He tested positive for COVID Monday night, but tested negative on Saturday afternoon before the White House Correspondents Dinner by medically-supervised staff,” a person familiar with the matter told Politico. “He had no symptoms on Saturday. Jon is currently isolating and participating in contract tracing.”
Before the dinner, it was widely speculated that COVID-19 would be on the menu. “It is my great honor to be speaking tonight at the nation’s most distinguished super-spreader event,” comedian Trevor Noah said at the dinner.
The WHCA event followed another superspreader, the Gridiron dinner. More than 80 attendees eventually tested positive for COVID-19.
Among those were two members of President Joe Biden’s Cabinet: Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. “Other attendees, including Vice President Kamala Harris’ communication director Jamal Simmons and Democratic Reps. Joaquin Castro and Adam Schiff … have also announced positive tests,” CNN <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/super-spreader-over-a-dozen-d-c-a-listers-served-covid-at-posh-gridiron-dinner">reported</a>.

President Joe Biden took some heat for laughing at jokes highlighting the fact that, since he took office, the American people are having a hard time affording a decent quality of life. The man who promised to restore &#8220;decency&#8221; to the Oval Office was filmed laughing at comedian Trevor Noah&#8217;s joke about inflation at Saturday night&#8217;s White House Correspondents Association Dinner.
Saturday featured the first WHCA Dinner in two years — and the first one in six years to be attended by a sitting president. The event <a href="https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/kim-kardashian-pete-davidson-more-at-2022-white-house-correspondents-association-dinner-1235170413/">featured</a> D.C. media elite and celebrities like Kim Kardashian, who arrived alongside her new beau Pete Davidson. Roughly 2,600 people crammed into a Washington hotel basement and chuckled along to various quips about the presidency and current state of politics. Outside the ballroom and beyond the tuxedos, wine glasses, and multi-course meal, Noah&#8217;s joke about inflation fell a little flat while critics slammed the president for his out-of-touch laughter.
&#8220;Since you’ve come into office, things are really looking up,&#8221; Noah, the emcee of the dinner said while addressing Biden,&#8221;Gas is up, rent is up, food is up! Everything.&#8221;

Paris Dennard, a spokesman for the GOP, <a href="https://twitter.com/PARISDENNARD/status/1520606818887958528?s=20&amp;t=sjiXSywelTvFP60FaL0jvQ">added</a>, &#8220;Joe Biden thinks it is really funny that millions of Americans are suffering right now because of rising costs &amp; inflation caused by his policies!&#8221;
&#8220;This isn’t empathy or leadership it’s shameful!&#8221; Dennard stated. &#8220;Tell Biden your life isn’t a joke!&#8221;
Biden, of course, knows that not many Americans are in a jovial mood right now. In late February, he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meads-joe-biden-blames-nations-foul-mood-on-psychological-impact-of-covid-19">blamed</a> that pessimism on the &#8220;psychological impact of COVID-19.&#8221; In Biden&#8217;s mind, the reason why U.S. citizens were unable to appreciate the economy was because they were too worried about whether or not they would get sick from the virus.
The president said in an interview at the time, &#8220;Almost a million Americans have died of COVID and so I think it’s hard for people to get their arms around the fact that we have the fastest growing economy in 40 years, wages are actually up — not down, unemployment is the lowest it’s been….You know it’s just incredibly low, and it’s around the in the three-point range,” he claimed.&#8221;
“We find ourselves in a position where it’s hard to fully appreciate that when you wake up in the morning and wondering whether or not your uncle, aunt, mother, father, son, daughter who has COVID are going to be okay,” Biden added.
If the comment was out of touch then, based on recent economic numbers, it seems to be even more out of touch now.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/us-inflation-consumer-price-index-march-2022-11649725215">announced</a> that inflation rose 8.5% year-over-year in March, according to the Consumer Price Index.
The Daily Wire also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wholesale-inflation-surges-11-2-breaking-another-record">reported</a> that based on the BLS&#8217; <a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/ppi.t01.htm">Producer Price Index</a>, which measures inflation from wholesale producers, rose 11.2% annually between March 2021 and March 2022, the highest that figure has been since 2010. Wholesale food prices also jumped 16.2% annually, 2.4% monthly while wholesale energy prices rose 36.7% annually, headlined by liquefied natural gas, which saw a massive 91.4% increase, nearly doubling in price between 2021 and 2022.
In the first quarter of the year, America&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10763421/US-economy-shrank-1-4-Q1-consumers-kept-spending.html">economy shrank 1.4%</a>. The president blamed that downturn on COVID-19 and Russian President Vladimir Putin&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine causing a rise in prices. Various polls <a href="https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/polls-voters-blame-biden-for-inflation/article_bf2811f6-aa0e-11ec-bde8-c3db8056c94f.html">show</a> that the American people blame the president — of the U.S., not of Russia — for inflation.
As all of it adds up, the economy is quickly becoming a top concern for voters, too.
“Americans&#8217; confidence in the economy remains very low, and mentions of economic issues as the most important problem in the U.S. are at their highest point since 2016,” a recent poll from Gallup <a href="https://www.oleantimesherald.com/news/nation/americans-more-worried-about-inflation-than-they-have-been-in-decades/article_f6557693-81e8-51f5-b558-62493fb06fdd.html">said</a>. “Inflation, which registered as the top economic problem last month and continues to be, was previously at this level in 1984.”
Without any economic reprieve predicted, it is evident that voters&#8217; concern about the economy will continue through the 2022 midterms.
While the president may have found Noah&#8217;s remarks hilarious Saturday night, it&#8217;s unlikely he will be laughing if that clip is used as a GOP advertisement down the line.
Just like excuses, jokes have a tendency to get a little old after you hear them more than a few times. The American people will only be able to tolerate Biden blaming Putin and outside factors for the state of the economy — while appearing to laugh at their misery — for so long before they take out their frustrations at the ballot box.

Plitsas, an Army veteran who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, was instrumental in a massive civilian-led rescue operation known as &#8220;<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/u-s-military-veteran-escapes-ukraine-with-help-of-american-rescue-group/">Digital Dunkirk</a>&#8221; — so named because of its similarities to the massive civilian rescue operation that took place at Dunkirk between May 26 and June 4 of 1940. Plitsas has worked tirelessly with other civilians and intelligence operators to aid American citizens and Afghan allies in their <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/group-of-veterans-rescues-another-374-evacuees-from-afghanistan/">escape from the Taliban</a> after President Joe Biden ordered all American troops to leave Afghanistan — and that work is still ongoing.
Plitsas was not alone in his criticism of the joke, however. Congressman Peter Meijer (R-MI) was not amused either.

&#8220;For the record Afghanistan is still going on, and not just in the context of throwaway nerd prom jokes about abandoning people who risked their lives for the US,&#8221; he added.

Texas Congressional candidate Jenny Garcia Sharon made it clear that she was not impressed either. &#8220;I find nothing humorous about the disastrous evacuation that cost the lives of 13 American soldiers &#8230;what a disgusting display of callousness. #WHCD,&#8221; she <a href="https://twitter.com/jenny4congress/status/1520633144986140673">said</a>.
&#8220;Wow. How completely inconsiderate and disgusting of #TrevorNoah, to joke about #Biden’s horrible evacuation from Afghanistan which resulted in the deaths of 13 members of our military. #WHCD,&#8221; another <a href="https://twitter.com/Kimba212Jupiter/status/1520628893950136320">added</a>.
Plitsas, for his part, has carried on with the mission and continues to assist Afghan allies as they slowly make their way out of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to the United States or other safe countries for refuge.

Taking aim at everyone — from CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer to celebrities like Clive Owen and Martha Stewart – Gutfeld poked fun at the food, <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/trevor-noah-liberal-journos-lost-their-national-spotlight-without-trump/">the spectacle</a>, and the attendees in his own private roast of the event.

WASHINGTON — Comedian Trevor Noah highlighted Saturday evening that formerly high-profile liberal journalists have lost their national spotlight since President Donald Trump has left the White House.
Noah spoke at the White House Correspondents’ Association gala on Saturday evening at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., following remarks delivered by President Joe Biden.
The comedian alternatively mocked the president and the press before saying that he knew there were &#8220;mixed reviews&#8221; of the Biden presidency among the media present at the gala.
&#8220;There was a lot of talk about how the president really respects the press, but what has he done for you guys? Huh?&#8221; asked Noah.
&#8220;Think of all the journalists whose careers have been hurt by the Biden presidency,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;People like Daniel Dale. Used to be CNN&#8217;s star fact checker, on TV every day. But now, there is barely anything to check. Same for Glenn Kessler of The Washington Post. On the way here, I saw him on the street offering four pinnochios for a dollar. Mr. President, that’s on you.&#8221;
He continued: &#8220;And what about Maggie Haberman? For four years, it was exclusives on the Russia investigation, corruption, the president doesn&#8217;t read his daily briefings &#8230; Now look at her! She spends all day fighting with random people on Twitter like a common political reporter.&#8221;
&#8220;You’ve ruined her, Mr. President,&#8221; he joked.
&#8220;Now, of course, of course, President Biden doesn’t often have to deal with the media directly,&#8221; Noah continued. &#8220;Yes, the task falls to Press Secretary Jen Psaki.&#8221;
Noah joked to Psaki about the many times she has contracted the coronavirus before reminding the audience that Psaki is <a href="https://www.axios.com/jen-psaki-leaving-white-house-msnbc-a75bdbc6-4c6b-43f9-b406-e104ea3b88e9.html">rumored to be leaving the White House and heading to MSNBC</a>.
&#8220;If it’s true, congratulations to Jen and your big career change,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But, you know, moving to MSNBC is gonna be a big switch up for you because right now, the current job is to make the Biden administration … look good as possible, you know, at all costs, and now you&#8217;re going to be at MSNBC and you’ll have to — you’ll be fine, actually. Sorry.&#8221;
