Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed Senate Democrats this week as impeachment proceedings for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have begun in Congress&#8217; upper chamber.
Cruz made the remarks during the most recent episode of his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson.
“Democrats [are] willing to throw the Constitution in the trash in order to avoid any national attention on the disaster that is playing out on our southern border,” Cruz said in speaking about the millions of illegal aliens that have come into the U.S. under President Joe Biden.
Cruz said that he believes that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is going to try to cover up the border crisis by trying to avoid having a trial in the Senate because &#8220;he doesn&#8217;t want the House managers to present any evidence.&#8221;
&#8220;Schumer and the Democrats are terrified of the evidence of the suffering of the people who&#8217;ve died, of the people of the children who&#8217;ve been sexually assaulted, of the women who&#8217;ve been sexually assaulted, of the fentanyl deaths and the drug overdose deaths,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;He doesn&#8217;t want that evidence put before the American people.”

Because he&#8217;s desperate to protect the Democrat senators on the ballot from the consequences from the deaths and suffering and people who are suffering misery, because of their open border politics and policies, which they intend to continue, and Schumer, this is all about political camouflage.”

In a very real sense, the missiles that Iran fired at Israel, were paid for by the Biden administration.&#8221;

Based on this interview, I would change those odds from 35% to 45%. I still think it is slightly more likely than not that Biden remains the nominee, but I think it&#8217;s 55/45. I think she&#8217;s more partisan than Barack is and was as president, but look, if you look at the polling numbers, Michelle Obama is the most popular woman on the face of the planet. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that he believes former President Donald Trump will win at the U.S. Supreme Court and remain on the Colorado ballot because Trump has not been charged with insurrection in either of the two criminal cases against him involving his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Cruz made the remarks during the latest episode of his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson while discussing the Supreme Court&#8217;s decision to hear the case after the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump committed an insurrection on January 6 and was thus ineligible to hold office.
Cruz said he believes the court will say in its opinion that it expresses &#8220;no opinion on whether or not an insurrection occurred on January 6.&#8221;
Cruz noted that Trump has been indicted in multiple criminal cases, and even though there is a perception among some that prosecutors are out to get Trump, he has not been indicted anywhere for insurrection.
&#8220;Jack Smith is in DC with a very liberal judge, he&#8217;s got a DC jury pool that is 94% Democrat, he&#8217;s got the most favorable environment in the world and you know what he hasn&#8217;t done? Indicted Trump for insurrection, and the only reason he hasn&#8217;t is because there&#8217;s no remote evidence that would prove that Trump had engaged in insurrection,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;Donald Trump sent some tweets and stood up and gave a speech in which he told people to go peaceable, go peacefully peaceful. There, you cannot prove as a matter of law that telling people to be peaceful, is engaged in insurrection.&#8221;
&#8220;Insurrection is a legal term,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And there&#8217;s a reason no one has charged him with it because you couldn&#8217;t pass the laugh test.&#8221;

Dr. Phillip C. McGraw, commonly known as Dr. Phil, said during a recent discussion with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) that government officials who decided to shut down schools during the COVID pandemic were &#8220;throwing gas on a fire&#8221; in terms of exacerbating the existing problems facing America&#8217;s youth.
The second half of McGraw&#8217;s remarks during a special appearance on Cruz’s “Verdict” podcast last week were released on Tuesday.
&#8220;Right now, almost a third of fifth and eighth graders can&#8217;t read at the most fundamental level,&#8221; McGraw said. &#8220;They can&#8217;t read a sentence. And the question is, how did they get in the fifth grade? How did they get into the eighth grade? 19% of high school graduates can&#8217;t read. They cannot read.&#8221;
&#8220;How do you graduate high school, if you can&#8217;t read in the first, second, and third grade?&#8221; McGraw continued. &#8220;From the fourth grade on you read to learn. So, if you don&#8217;t learn to read in those first three grades, you don&#8217;t have that tool to learn for the rest of your life. And if teachers are going to pass them either way, then you&#8217;re just setting them up to fail.&#8221;
McGraw said he was called an &#8220;idiot&#8221; when he spoke out against shutting schools down for more than a couple of weeks and said remote teaching would do more damage to society than the virus itself.
&#8220;I think I&#8217;ve got 15 clips of different times that I said, shutting this country down and taking our kids out of school for a prolonged period of time and the epidemiological pediatricians estimate that it will cost somewhere around 15 million years of life lost for these kids,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And they figure that because you got roughly 50 million kids in public school plus the private schools and because of what they lost; they will never close that gap.&#8221;
McGraw explained how students missing that time in school would lead to them achieving less academically, leading to less appealing job opportunities later.

&#8220;Lesser jobs are usually higher risk jobs because they&#8217;re blue collar and they&#8217;re working with machinery and construction and things where they get injured,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They have poorer health coverage, which means they get slower diagnosis and lesser care. And so, it obtains with years of life shaved off the end of their lives. And what gets me is they did this, the same agencies that advocated for this are the same agencies that had the records that said, we have the highest levels of anxiety, depression, and loneliness among our children than we&#8217;ve had since records were being kept. So, let&#8217;s shut down the schools, which we know are essential to their development. It&#8217;s like throwing gas on a fire.&#8221;
McGraw also noted that by keeping children out of schools, there was likely an uptick in the amount of abuse that some faced at home because the programs that exist in schools for reporting such acts were not available.
&#8220;We simply abandoned them to their abusers,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And so many of these children relied on those schools for at least one if not two meals per day. We took that away, and some say well, but they delivered those meals, some got them delivered, some didn&#8217;t. So, we created a huge educational gap. We abandoned the abused and molested children to their abusers and molesters. And nobody has done anything to close the gap. Other than that, no problem.&#8221;

Cruz made the remarks during an episode of his podcast &#8220;Verdict.&#8221;
&#8220;There&#8217;s nothing Democrats like more than a treaty that ties our hands, makes us weaker, and that lets the Russians and Chinese get stronger,&#8221; Cruz told co-host Ben Ferguson. &#8220;Now, here&#8217;s an amazing thing. I&#8217;m going to read you a headline from January 31, 2023. So not too long ago. &#8216;U.S. says Russia violating New START nuclear arms control treaty.&#8217; So finally, the Biden administration was forced to admit that Russia was in violation because among other things, they refuse to allow inspection activities on its territory.&#8221;
&#8220;And by the way, this is the same problem with the Obama Iran nuclear treaty, where Obama trusted Iran to inspect itself and under the terms of the treaty, the inspectors could not go into military facilities. Well, guess what? That&#8217;s where the Iranians put their nuclear research in military facilities, like Fordo, a research lab buried in a mountain, declared off limits,&#8221; Cruz added. &#8220;So this is a pattern. It&#8217;s a pattern from Obama. It&#8217;s a pattern from Biden. It’s a pattern from Democrats that they enter into agreements that weaken the U.S. militarily and that allowed the Russians and also allow the Chinese and also allow the Iranians to cheat and build up their military.&#8221;

SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): There&#8217;s nothing Democrats like more than a treaty that ties our hands, makes us weaker, and that lets the Russians and Chinese get stronger. Now, here&#8217;s an amazing thing. I&#8217;m going to read you a headline from January 31, 2023. So not too long ago. “US says Russia violating New START nuclear arms control treaty.” So finally, the Biden administration was forced to admit that Russia was in violation because among other things, they refuse to allow inspection activities on its territory. So they say, ‘Nope, you can&#8217;t inspect it.’ By the way. This is the same problem with the Obama Iran nuclear treaty, where Obama trusted Iran to inspect itself. And under the terms of the treaty, the inspectors could not go into military facilities. Well, guess what? That&#8217;s where the Iranians put their nuclear research in military facilities, like Fordo, a research lab buried in a mountain, declared off limits. So this is a pattern. It&#8217;s a pattern from Obama. It&#8217;s a pattern from Biden. It’s a pattern from Democrats that they enter into agreements that weaken the US militarily and that allowed the Russians and also allow the Chinese and also allow the Iranians to cheat and build up their military. And if you believe in peace through strength, you want the opposite. You want us stronger, and them weaker. The Biden approach. They&#8217;re stronger and we’re weaker.

Senator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ted-cruz">Ted Cruz</a> (R-TX) recently said that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/supreme-court">United States Supreme Court</a>&#8216;s landmark decision which legalized same-sex marriage across America was &#8220;clearly wrong&#8221; but stressed that he did not believe the high court had any &#8220;appetite&#8221; to review the case and that it would be &#8220;chaotic&#8221; to disrupt such unions that occurred in accordance with the law.
On the Friday episode of his podcast &#8220;The Verdict,&#8221; Cruz and co-host Liz Wheeler discussed Obergefell v. Hodges — the 2015 case that ruled states were prohibited from banning same-sex marriage — as it compared to Roe v. Wade. Wheeler asked Cruz to pretend he was an advocate of the Court and explain the vulnerability of Obergefell and what it would take to overturn that precedent.
&#8220;Obergefell, like Roe v. Wade, ignored two centuries of our nation&#8217;s history,&#8221; Cruz told Wheeler. &#8220;Marriage was always an issue that was left to the states. We saw states before Obergefell, some states were moving to allow gay marriage, and other states were moving to allow civil partnerships. There were different standards that the states were adopting.&#8221;
In Obergefell, the Court <a href="https://www.oyez.org/cases/2014/14-556">ruled</a> 5-4 that state laws banning same-sex marriage were unconstitutional under the due process and equal protection clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment.
&#8220;And had the Court not ruled in Obergefell, the democratic process would have continued to operate; if you believed gay marriage was a good idea, the way the Constitution set up for you to advance that position is to convince your fellow citizens,&#8221; Cruz explained. &#8220;And if you succeeded in convincing your fellow citizens, then your state would change the laws to reflect those views. In Obergefell, the Court said, &#8216;No, we know better than you guys do and now every state &#8230; must sanction and permit gay marriage.'&#8221;
The former presidential candidate added that he believed that the Court was &#8220;overreaching&#8221; in that decision, but that it was a &#8220;fundamentally&#8221; different question than abortion.
&#8220;I think that decision was clearly wrong when it was decided,&#8221; Cruz added of same-sex marriage. &#8220;It was the court overreaching.&#8221;
In June, the SCOTUS emphasized in its Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which led to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/united-states-supreme-court-overturns-roe-v-wade-leaves-abortion-restrictions-to-states">overturning</a> of Roe, that the abortion issue was not the same as marriage.
&#8220;&#8230; so in Dobbs, what the Supreme Court said is Roe is different because it&#8217;s the only one of the cases that involve the taking of a human life and that&#8217;s qualitatively different&#8221; than Obergefell, he explained.
&#8220;I agree with that proposition,&#8221; Cruz added.
In reaction to an edited clip of his answer, some leftists like Ron Filipkowski claimed that Cruz was calling on the Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell completely. As Cruz&#8217;s senior communications advisor Steve Guest pointed out, the full context of Cruz&#8217;s remarks proves otherwise.

Cruz went on to clarify, &#8220;When a court is deciding, is considering, whether to overturn a precedent, one of the factors that the court looks to is reliance interests — have people relied on the previous precedent and acted accordingly.&#8221;
&#8220;And in the context of marriage, you&#8217;ve got a ton of people who have entered into gay marriages and it would be more than a little chaotic for the Court to do something that somehow disrupted those marriages that have been entered into in accordance with the law,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;I think that would be a factor that would &#8230; counsel restraint, that the Court would be concerned about.&#8221;
Cruz also told Wheeler that while Justice Clarence Thomas might have noted the Court should review certain cases, including Obergefell, he didn&#8217;t believe the Court actually would.
&#8220;But to be honest, I don&#8217;t think this Court has any appetite for overturning any of these decisions,&#8221; he added.

Attorney General William Barr told &#8220;Verdict with Ted Cruz&#8221; this week that the way that the big tech companies obtained the overwhelming level of power that they have was through &#8220;the biggest bait and switch in history,&#8221; arguing that they gained power by allowing diverse views on their platforms and once they became dominate in the market, they started censoring views they didn&#8217;t like.
“We have antitrust investigation of all the major Internet platforms or most of the major Internet platforms, and that&#8217;s very much underway,&#8221; Barr said on the show, which is co-hosted by Daily Wire podcast host Michael Knowles. &#8220;I expect to be making decisions in the next few weeks about actions on that. I think during the summer we&#8217;ll see some developments. But this issue of censorship is very troubling because our country was based and the Framers, as you know, believed the thing that would ultimately keep us free and keep a majority from repressing the minority is a lot of diversity of voices out there — a robust marketplace.&#8221;
&#8220;But these behemoths have gotten vast, strong control over the expression of views and the public forum here in the United States. And they got there and I&#8217;ve said this is the biggest bait and switch in history,&#8221; Barr continued. &#8220;They got there by saying, ‘Hey, we&#8217;re going to be open to all views, you know, come join us because then you can have your views.’ So they built up this powerful network, very strong market power based on the representation that they were sort of open to all, as a sort of a bulletin board. But then when they got that market power, now they&#8217;re censoring views just like the example you gave. And they&#8217;re now censoring views. And so we&#8217;re getting increasingly monolithic viewpoints being presented to the American people rather than the kind of robust debate.&#8221;
&#8220;So one thing we&#8217;re doing there is we’re saying that Rule 230, which is a rule that gave immunity to companies for taking down things and didn&#8217;t, therefore, convert them into a publisher where they&#8217;d be responsible for everything that appears on their site, we want to modify that so that they have to have clear terms of service,&#8221; Barr concluded on the subject. &#8220;They have to show that what they took down they had reasonable grounds for saying it violated their terms of service. And they have to give notice and process to people&#8217;s whose content they take down. That&#8217;s one of the things that we&#8217;re proposing.&#8221;

KNOWLES: “This is perfectly reasonable to me. And yet, Senator, I know when you&#8217;ve brought up Rule 230 that people have harangued you for it, and said this is absolutely not the right way to go and just leave Twitter alone and leave Google alone and let them control the flow of information on the Internet.”
SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): “Well, look, there&#8217;s good news on this in that I think there&#8217;s a growing and even bipartisan frustration with Big Tech, that you&#8217;ve got a handful of Silicon Valley billionaires that are the new colossus and they behave as if they&#8217;re untouchable. Let’s use the Twitter example from this week. You don&#8217;t have to go back very far. So the President of the United States sent out a tweet that if violent anarchists try to set up a lawless autonomous zone in Washington, D.C., that law enforcement will stop them. Twitter blocked that tweet. And said it was abusive for the president to say, ‘We&#8217;re not going to let violent anarchists take over our capital.’ I assume you&#8217;ve got a Silicon Valley billionaire on his yacht saying, ‘No, no. Silence, little one.’ And by the way, if they have the right to do that, if they can silence the president, if they can silence media outlets, what hope does an ordinary citizen have? The president at least has a pretty big megaphone, even if they do silence him. He doesn&#8217;t have difficulty being heard. How about the rest of us? And the absolute brazenness of it. Another example from this week, Google went after The Federalist, a conservative media outlet. Called them up and said, ‘Okay. Our problem is actually not with your content.’ They said, ‘We&#8217;re going to demonetize you because there&#8217;s some comments on your comment section that are objectionable.’ I don’t know if they identified the comments.”
KNOWLES: “So they&#8217;re going to take this news organization off of the advertising platform, which the advertising is what allows the news organization to exist. If you kick them off, you&#8217;re bankrupting the news.”
CRUZ: “It is doing exactly that. It is sucking the oxygen out. And a quick perusal of liberal websites show a bunch of them have comments sites, and you can find all sorts of obnoxious and offensive comments on the liberal websites. They&#8217;re not imposing that on them. And this is an interesting development, actually, for the DOJ investigation. One place you find comments is YouTube. Now, YouTube is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Google. It&#8217;s an incredibly profitable subsidiary of Google. I guarantee you could go right now today on YouTube, take a look at the comments and you will find racists, you will find profane, you will find offensive comments all over YouTube.”
KNOWLES: “And that&#8217;s just what they write to us. That&#8217;s just what they say about us. Imagine all the other people.”
CRUZ: “And Google is not imposing those terms on its wholly-owned YouTube, but is instead using, and this is where the censorship and free speech and issues intersect with antitrust laws. Because they&#8217;re a monopoly power, imposing differential standards on their competitors than they are on their own wholly-owned subsidiary.”
BARR: “Also, just think of the hypocrisy. The point that these big companies are saying is, ‘Look, we shouldn&#8217;t be held responsible for third party content on our website.’ So YouTube says, ‘If people say things that are defamatory on our website, we shouldn&#8217;t be held accountable for that because it&#8217;s good to have this kind of forum for people to come in.’ And yet when someone comes in on their website, they&#8217;re saying, ‘The rules that we want applied to us don&#8217;t apply to you. You&#8217;re responsible for what&#8217;s on your comments section.’”</blockquote>

On the latest episode of the “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) discussed with co-host Michael Knowles of The Daily Wire the danger that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) poses to the world.
After stating that he hopes the United states and the world will have a “fundamental reassessment” of their relationships with China, Cruz outlined several of the reasons the communist nation is so dangerous:
<blockquote>I&#8217;ve been saying for a long time, China is the single most important, the most significant geopolitical competitor to the United States for the next century. They’ve got 1.3 billion people; they&#8217;re governed by a communist government that lies, that murders, that tortures its citizens; they invest billions in their military, billions in expanding their economic influence – and I think this pandemic really illustrates just how dangerous that repressive regime of lying is.</blockquote>
Later, Knowles asked Cruz about the CCP’s influence over Hollywood, which is vast.
Cruz replied: “Hollywood is almost entirely bought and paid for by China. It’s such a big part – if you&#8217;re making a movie, you don&#8217;t want to tick off China because it&#8217;s too big a part of your global revenues, and so the great free speech warriors of Hollywood are perfectly happy to let China edit out portions of their movie they don&#8217;t like.”
The senator offered two examples. He first cited the 2018 Freddie Mercury biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which was reportedly edited for Chinese audiences to eliminate subject matter related to Mercury’s sexuality. He then talked about how the upcoming Tom Cruise film “Top Gun: Maverick” removed the Japanese and Taiwanese flags from the main character’s jacket so as not to anger China.
Cruz stated that he has introduced legislation called the Script Act, which “says if any Hollywood producer, if any movie maker lets the Chinese communist government censor or edit a film, that they can&#8217;t have access to our military, to our ships, to our planes, to everything they use to film movies like ‘Top Gun.’”
After discussing the security issues surrounding Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, which “is essentially a global surveillance outfit,” according to Cruz, Knowles noted how “addicted” the United States has become to Chinese goods and services.
Senator Cruz then spoke about the “host of strategies” the CCP employs, including lying, “murder,” detainment and “torture” of more than a million Uighurs in “concentration camps,” and the mass theft of intellectual property.
<blockquote>They steal on a widespread level, on a military level, on a commercial level, on an academic level, they censor, and they also extort. They use access to their market – there&#8217;s a reason Hollywood&#8217;s terrified of ticking them off; there&#8217;s a reason the NBA is terrified of ticking them off &#8230; because they&#8217;ll close off their market to anyone who does.</blockquote>
Cruz then noted that during a tour of friendly countries Taiwan, Japan, India, and Hong Kong last fall, “every one of [the] meetings and discussions there where, what do we do about China? What do we do about the military threat? The diplomatic threat? The economic threat?”
Cruz also offered a stunning analogy:
<blockquote>Something I&#8217;ve said many times is Hong Kong is the new Berlin. Just as Berlin was the outpost of freedom against the Soviet Union, against communism when Reagan said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall,” Hong Kong is where we&#8217;re seeing the touch points of this battle against China.</blockquote>
He then said what he hopes will happen as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic:
<blockquote>I hope that Americans are waking up. I do think – for a long time, when I would lay out the harms of the Chinese communist government and the need to fight against it, the need not to be dependent on China, you would get almost crickets in the Senate from both Democrats and Republicans &#8230; their lying, their cover-up on coronavirus has now taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and cost trillions of dollars in poverty and suffering. I hope that really causes people to open their eyes to what the danger is here.</blockquote>

On Friday, the latest installment of the “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast was uploaded to YouTube. The focus of the episode was on the reopening of the economy, as well as accountability with regard to China. He also revealed that according to the NHS, the U.S. government provided funding to Chinese coronavirus research in Wuhan, and that there were “internal state department wires before this pandemic raising concerns about the security in those labs.”
Senator Cruz first noted that testing, both for COVID-19, as well as for antibodies, is essential, and that the American economy should open carefully and, if needed, in geographic stages.
“We’re imposing massive harms on the economy – 22 million people out of work, millions of small businesses on the verge of bankruptcy, and &#8230; this is something I emphasized to the president yesterday, if we keep on this path, there is a real public health consequence to killing the economy,” Cruz stated. “We’re gonna see mental health issues; we&#8217;re gonna see depression; we&#8217;re gonna see increased rates of suicide; we&#8217;re gonna see increased rates of substance abuse, and alcohol abuse, and lives will be lost – and we’ve got to protect lives.”
Cruz them emphasized a critical point:
<blockquote>The objective should be, protect as many lives as possible, and on both sides of the ledger. So be smart, follow medical science, and stop the pandemic, but also don&#8217;t kill the economy, and destroy people&#8217;s livelihoods, and cause suffering and death on the economic side either.</blockquote>
After speaking about governmental abuses of power and other issues relating to the pandemic, co-host Micahel Knowles of The Daily Wire asked Cruz about the origins of COVID-19:
<blockquote>Over a month ago, you suggested that there was very likely a link between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and this virus that just so coincidentally happened to occur within a couple of miles of that Institute. During that time, the mainstream media said this was crazy, this was a conspiracy theory, there was no evidence of it. Now, we are getting multiple reports all saying that the virus came from the lab&#8230;
My question is, did the U.S. government know that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was conducting this sort of dangerous research? And if we did know, why didn&#8217;t we stop it?</blockquote>
Cruz replied:
<blockquote>Absolutely, yes. The U.S. government knew, and in fact, when you and I brought this up on March 10th, over a month ago, you&#8217;re right, it was treated as tinfoil hat conspiracy theory nut-jobary. Well, it turns out there was, it wasn&#8217;t just one, there were two labs within miles of where this outbreak occurred that were studying coronaviruses from bats, and that there were internal state department wires before this pandemic raising concerns about the security in those labs, and that an accidental virus could escape and cause a global pandemic.</blockquote>
Then Cruz offered some vital information:
<blockquote>But I&#8217;ll tell you, it&#8217;s worse than that. And, let me give you some breaking news right now, which is the U.S. government was funding the Chinese research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Your taxpayer dollars and my taxpayer dollars. And let me give you specifics that we just got today.
Today, in inquiring of the National Institutes of Health, did any of your money go to the Wuhan Institute of Virology? The answer is yes, and here&#8217;s what they told us in writing today. They said in fiscal year 2019, the funding for the Wuhan Institute [of] Virology was $76,301. Now, what did it go to? And I&#8217;m repeating what NIH has told me in writing &#8230; it was part of an overall $3.7 million funding program that went to six years in sites in China, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Myanmar.
Here’s what they were studying. These are NHS words: “The project included studying viral diversity in animal (bats reservoirs), surveying people that live in high-risk communities for evidence of bat coronavirus infection, and conducting laboratory experiments to analyze and predict which newly-discovered viruses pose the greatest threats to human health.”
That&#8217;s what the NIH funding was going to – and we followed up and said, okay, that&#8217;s what you described as the project in all of these countries. How about at the Wuhan Institute of Virology? What specifically did U.S. taxpayer dollars go to at the Wuhan Institute of Virology?
Here&#8217;s what the NIH said in writing: “The project supported the following activities at the Wuhan Institute of Virology: coronavirus screening and serology of non-human samples, viral pathogenesis, serological testing, host receptor binding, spike S protein sequencing, and in vitro and in viva virus characterization.”</blockquote>
The senator continued, making sure to stress that there is no confirmation that COVID-19 came from the Wuhan lab, but that while tax dollars were reportedly going to China to fund research, “the state department was raising real concerns about the safety and security protocols at the lab.”
“Given that they were studying these bat coronaviruses, the Chinese government needs to answer the question right now. Were they studying the novel coronavirus &#8230; that has killed over 140,000 people worldwide?” Cruz said, adding that “they won&#8217;t answer that question.”
