Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) signaled this week that the moves that President Donald Trump made implementing tariffs on America&#8217;s neighbors proved to be a &#8220;huge victory&#8221; because of the changes they resulted in.
Cruz made the remarks during the most recent episode of his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson while talking about the 25% tariffs that Trump imposed on Mexico and Canada.
&#8220;If this ends up being a relatively short-term tariff, and the effect is to produce a massive change of behavior from Mexico especially, but also Canada, to help secure the borders and to help stop the fentanyl flow, it will be a huge victory,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;But that is dependent upon Mexico and Canada now stepping up and acting, and I think the pain inflicted, what will accelerate that process.”
&#8220;And listen, I think it says a lot that these tariffs were announced right at the same time that Trump sent his Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, down to Panama,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I think these tariffs are speaking very clearly to Panama. I think these tariffs are speaking very clearly to Greenland and to Denmark. And these tariffs are speaking to people around the globe that Trump is perfectly willing, when he says he&#8217;ll impose tariffs, he&#8217;ll do that.&#8221;
Cruz said the tariffs have an &#8220;enormously valuable&#8221; deterrent effect when dealing with other countries.
“If the Canada and Mexico tariffs are a matter of weeks or a month or so, and it induces a significant change in behavior that secures the border and results in a lot less murderers and gang bangers and rapists coming into this country and a lot less fentanyl coming into this country, that&#8217;s an unambiguous win,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think the Mexico and Canada tariffs are very, very different from the China tariffs. I expect the China tariffs to stay in place all four years of the Trump administration, and I think they&#8217;re serving a very different function.&#8221;

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that the U.S. has a legal right to retake control of the Panama Canal after the Latin American country failed to live up to the obligations it agreed to decades ago.
Cruz made the remarks this week on his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast, which he co-hosted with Ben Ferguson. They discussed President Donald Trump&#8217;s push to retake the canal.
&#8220;They made a commitment, number one, that the Panama Canal would remain neutral, that it would not allow another foreign power to have control over it, to have military access to it,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;And number two, they made a commitment in treaty that they would charge fair and equitable fees.&#8221;
&#8220;On both ends of the Panama Canal, on the Pacific side and on the Atlantic side, China controls, Chinese corporations, control massive ports that are right there that give them access and give them the ability to observe all traffic going through the canal, and potentially to shut down all traffic going through the canal,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;As I mentioned, also in my opening, they are building a bridge across the canal, they are spending over a decade building that bridge.&#8221;
He noted that Panama brings in nearly $3 billion a year from fees charged to ships transiting the canal.
“75% of those transits are American ships,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;So, they are either American cargo ships, commercial ships, going across or they&#8217;re American military ships, the US Navy going across. But either way, Panama is making billions, and the testimony we heard in the hearing today is that on both of those grounds, there is a strong argument that Panama is in violation of the treaty.”
Cruz said the worst-case scenario for the U.S. in its push to retake the canal was that Panama would lower the rates that it charges the U.S., and there would be a &#8220;significant diminution in China&#8217;s control and influence over the Panama Canal.&#8221;
&#8220;That is a massive benefit, but I gotta say, after this hearing today, I&#8217;ve moved; I actually think the treaty arguments here are quite serious, and I get Panama would be horrified to give up the canal because they were given a gigantic gift from Jimmy Carter at the expense of the United States of America,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But I think the arguments that Panama is violating the treaty and has forfeited its right to the canal. I think those arguments are very serious, and I expect the administration to pursue them seriously.&#8221;

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that Republican governors needed to ship illegal aliens in their states to Denver after far-Left Denver Mayor Mike Johnston vowed to protect them from being deported after President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in.

He said that the public had a right to know about the plot for the election and that their decision to bury it was an attempt to not help Trump on Election Day.

He said that Democrats view voters as &#8220;deplorable&#8221; if they have a problem with higher prices and rising crime rates throughout the country.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said during a post-debate analysis this week that the key takeaway he walked away from the debate with was that Vice President Kamala Harris was unable to defend her record in the Biden-Harris administration.
Cruz made the remarks during an episode of his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson while breaking down how President Donald Trump and Harris each performed during Tuesday&#8217;s ABC News debate.
&#8220;What tonight illustrated is that Kamala Harris is utterly incapable of defending her own record,&#8221; he said. &#8220;What we saw tonight, this was her stump speech, and this was her DNC convention speech, cut into sound bites and repeated.&#8221;

Cruz noted that Harris avoided answering questions posed to her by Democrat-friendly moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, including whether or not people were better off today or under the Trump administration.
&#8220;Kamala refused to answer it at all,&#8221; he said. &#8220;She didn&#8217;t say yes. She didn&#8217;t say people&#8217;s lives are better. She said nothing at all.&#8221;
&#8220;If I were to predict, we&#8217;re not going to see Kamala emerge from the basement until Election Day,&#8221; Cruz added. &#8220;It&#8217;s like the groundhog until she sees her shadow on election day, she doesn&#8217;t get to come out of the basement.”
He said that Harris might be able to get away with not having to campaign because the media is so desperate for her to win that &#8220;they were going to say that whatever happened — she could literally fall to the ground and start screaming and wailing and kicking her feet in the air — and they would say she won.&#8221;
&#8220;So that that was going to be the narrative regardless, I will say what we learned is she doesn&#8217;t have a good answer to her own record,&#8221; he concluded.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that the president of Mexico and Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris are in cahoots to flood the U.S. with as many illegal aliens as possible to shift America&#8217;s politics dramatically to the Left.
Cruz made the remarks during his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson while talking about the vice president&#8217;s disastrous policies which have wreaked havoc on the southern border — and on communities across the U.S. that have had to deal with the explosion in crime and weight of having to provide for millions of illegal aliens.
&#8220;Kamala Harris wants more illegal immigrants in America,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;Just about every single congressional Democrat in the Senate and the House, they want more illegal immigrants in America. They are actively encouraging, facilitating and accelerating the invasion at our southern border.&#8221;
“So now the government of Mexico is actively aiding and assisting the human traffickers,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;They will provide bus rides throughout Mexico, along with armed escorts from police and soldiers to bring illegal immigrants to the border to invade this country. And they&#8217;re doing this because Kamala Harris wants them to do this.&#8221;
Cruz said that Democrats want to bring in 30-40 million illegal aliens because in their eyes Democrats will &#8220;win every election forever and ever.&#8221;
&#8220;AMLO, the president of Mexico, wants as much illegal immigration as possible to go into America, and Kamala Harris wants as much illegal immigration as possible to go into America,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Both for the same reason: which is to fundamentally shift the policies of the United States of America and to move them dramatically to the left.&#8221;

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that a recent quote from far-left Minnesota Governor Tim Walz proves that he is actively rooting for illegal aliens to break U.S. immigration laws.
Cruz made the remark on the most recent episode of his &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with cohost Ben Ferguson after Walz <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/minnesota-governor-walz-invest-in-ladder-company-to-defeat-trumps-border-wall">said</a> last week that he would invest in ladder companies that build ladders that are taller than the border wall on the U.S. southern border.
&#8220;[Trump] talks about this wall. I always say, let me know how high it is. If it&#8217;s 25 feet, then I&#8217;ll invest in the 30-foot ladder factory,&#8221; Walz said during the CNN interview.
Cruz responded: &#8220;Understand he&#8217;s not saying as like a financial matter that he wants to invest in ladder companies. He is not advising that as a stock-picking tip. What he&#8217;s saying is he&#8217;s rooting for the people climbing the wall. He&#8217;s rooting for the people crossing into this country, and he&#8217;s not admitting this, but he&#8217;s rooting for the human traffickers.
