President Donald Trump, joined by representatives from the United Kingdom in the Oval Office, announced on Thursday that the two countries will cut back on trade barriers in the first major trade deal for the president.
The agreement will allow the United States to gain increased market access in the United Kingdom — the sixth-largest economy in the world — for billions of dollars worth of American exports, according to Trump. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who spoke to the president over the phone, told Trump he is &#8220;really pleased&#8221; with the deal between the two allies. The final details are still being worked out, but Trump will keep some tariffs in place on British imports. The president emphasized that the deal would boost both countries&#8217; industrial bases and help protect steel.
&#8220;Both countries have agreed that economic security is national security and will be working together as allies to ensure that we have a strong industrial base and appropriate export controls and protections for key technologies and industries like steel,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;Steel was a big factor. Both countries will become stronger with steel.&#8221;
Shortly after announcing the deal, President Trump posted a chart on social media, showing that Britain&#8217;s tariffs on U.S. goods will drop to 1.8% while &#8220;reciprocal tariffs&#8221; on the United Kingdom will remain at 10%. Trump said other nations should not view the 10% tariff on Britain as a template for how the administration will negotiate future deals.

Asked by Daily Wire White House Reporter Mary Margaret Olohan if the trade deal includes any assurances from Britain to protect free speech and freedom of religion, Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the agreement is solely focused on the economy.
Lutnick added that the deal will also allow the United Kingdom to export up to 100,000 vehicles to the United States for a 10% tariff. Lutnick said the agreement will enable the U.K. to maintain access to the U.S. market while also protecting American jobs. The United States will be able to gain more access to U.K. markets to sell agricultural products such as “ethanol, beef, [and] machinery,&#8221; according to Lutnick. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the deal will &#8220;exponentially increase our beef exports&#8221; to the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom will also be allowed to export Rolls-Royce engines and airplane parts to the United States tariff-free, and Britain will purchase $10 billion worth of Boeing airplanes from the United States, Lutnick added.
Starmer praised Trump and his trade team for working out the trade deal.
&#8220;Really important deal,&#8221; Starmer said. &#8220;This is going to boost trade between and across our countries. It&#8217;s not only going to protect jobs, but create jobs, opening market access.&#8221;
The deal is a significant step for the Trump administration as it seeks to negotiate new trade agreements with dozens of countries worldwide following the president&#8217;s &#8220;Liberation Day&#8221; tariffs rollout last month.

Topline: As the Trump administration pushes forward with its mass deportation effort, Democrats are fighting for the return of one deportee sent to El Salvador.
The story centers on Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old man who entered the United States illegally in 2011. Back in 2019, Garcia was arrested by ICE for suspected ties to the MS-13 gang, and given a deportation order. However, a court ruled at the time that Abrego Garcia should not be sent to his home country of El Salvador over potential threats from rival gangs there. Despite that deportation order, he remained in the country until he was arrested again by ICE in March and deported to El Salvador days later.
By April, the Supreme Court ruled that Garcia’s return to El Salvador violated the previous court order that he be sent elsewhere — and directed the White House to facilitate his return to America. The Trump administration conceded that it was a “clerical error” on their part, but stated that it was up to officials in El Salvador to decide whether he would be released or not. 
Democrats used the incident to argue the Trump administration is being careless in its mass deportation efforts — they say Abrego Garcia was a law-abiding father who never should’ve been deported in the first place. As the story gained traction, a number of Democratic lawmakers vowed to go to El Salvador to fight for his release, including Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, who traveled to the prison where Abrego Garcia’s being held. Van Hollen was initially denied access by local authorities, but successfully met with Garcia on Thursday night.
&#8220;This is like taking away people’s freedom,” Van Hollen <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/sen-chris-van-hollen-compares-153458159.html">told</a> MSNBC. “That does not sound like a conservative idea to me. That is something that, of course, authoritarian governments engage in. And it’s a very fast road to tyranny if we don’t all stand up against it.&#8221;
Democrats have depicted Garcia as an upstanding citizen, husband, and father, but new reports are painting a very different picture. A police report released by the DOJ from his initial arrest back in 2019 shows that Abrego Garcia was found loitering with three other men, two of whom were previously convicted MS-13 members — when officers approached, they attempted to hide drugs under a nearby car. At the time of his arrest, Abrego Garcia was wearing a Chicago Bulls hat — authorities say that’s a symbol of “members in good standing with the MS-13.” Then, in 2021, Abrego Garcia’s wife sought a protective order against him following years of alleged domestic abuse. According to her sworn affidavit from the time, his wife alleged that on different occasions, Abrego Garcia punched her, leaving her with black eyes, hit her with his work boots, scratched her eyes, and drove erratically with their one-year-old in the car. She wrote in her own words, “I am afraid to be close to him.” That case did not move forward after Garcia’s wife failed to appear in court to testify against him.
 And that’s not all — the <a href="https://tennesseestar.com/justice/bidens-fbi-ordered-tn-highway-patrol-to-release-maryland-man-recently-deported-to-el-salvador-after-he-was-detained-in-2022-traffic-stop-on-suspicion-of-human-trafficking/tpappert/2025/04/16/">Tennessee Star</a> learned Wednesday that Abrego Garcia had been stopped by the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 2022 on suspicion of human trafficking. In that instance, he’d been pulled over with seven individuals in his car, but no luggage. When questioned, he told officers he was driving them from Texas to Maryland on behalf of his “boss” who worked in “construction.&#8221; Abrego Garcia was detained for two hours and was found not to have a valid driver&#8217;s license, which is a misdemeanor offense.
<h2>Rubio Dismantles The Global Engagement Center</h2>

Topline: On Wednesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the Global Engagement Center, an Obama-era propaganda branch of the State Department, has been completely dissolved.
In 2011, the State Department created the Global Engagement Center, designed to combat propaganda from hostile foreign groups. But after Trump’s 2016 win, the department turned its attention to throttling Americans&#8217; political speech.
The GEC was created in 2011 as the Center for Strategic Counter Terrorism Communications. In 2016, Barack Obama gave it a new name and said it would “coordinate U.S. government communications aimed at countering foreign terrorist propaganda, particularly from groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda.” But soon, it was creating pressure on U.S. platforms, via advertising boycotts, to delete “conspiracy theories” like the idea that coronavirus came from a Chinese lab.
Like other State Department propaganda efforts, the GEC was specifically barred from operating against Americans. But there’s evidence that’s exactly what it did. In the Twitter Files, which showed how the Biden administration pressured Silicon Valley platforms to censor or remove content, one of the names that keeps popping up is GEC. Even an FBI agent who played a similar role, Elvis Chan, expressed concern about GEC, saying in its world, which was supposed to be foreign countries, the First Amendment didn’t exist.
The Daily Wire and the Federalist sued the State Department alleging that GEC was violating the First Amendment by funding groups like NewsGuard and the Global Disinformation Index. The Global Disinformation Index put American media outlets on a “Dynamic Exclusion List” that was distributed to advertisers and named mainstream publications like the New York Post, Reason Magazine, The Daily Wire, and the Federalist as “risky.” Newsguard’s CEO said its goal is “empowering governments … to support quality journalism and systemically defund sources of harmful misinformation.” The Daily Wire argued that GEC was funding proxies to do what would obviously be illegal for the government to do.

Topline: The UK’s Supreme Court has ruled that in the eyes of the law, a woman is a biological woman, not a transgender woman.
The UK has decentralized governments, which means there are governments in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland who have powers devolved to them. In Scotland, the Scottish Nationalist government sought to extend what they call trans rights. Most controversially, it pushed for self-ID, which would allow someone to declare themselves a woman and be certified as such, no questions asked.
The legal case that led to this being brought to the UK’s Supreme Court began with a new law aimed at increasing the number of women on public boards. Affirmative action, known in Britain as “positive action,” is permitted by a law called the Equality Act. The Scottish government argued that this should include discriminating in favor of transgender women with a Gender Recognition Certificate. The campaign group For Women Scotland disagreed and argued it should be restricted to biological women.
The Court decided that the use of “sex” and “women” in the Equality Act refers to biology and biological women, so transgender women are not protected against discrimination as women, although they will still be protected against discrimination as people who have undergone gender reassignment.
“This is going to be a very far-reaching ruling,” Guy Dampier, Senior Researcher on Nationhood at the Prosperity Institute, told Morning Wire. “Like a lot of the West, there has been this huge battle over transgenderism. The Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, was famously once unable to say whether women have a penis or not. … the Gender Recognition Act is functionally null now, as it is now the law that sex is biological rather than social. That said, transgender women with a Gender Recognition Certificate will still have their legal documents describing their sex as female, and it’s illegal to ask someone if they have a GRC.”

A child between the ages of 3-4 was suspended from a British state school two years ago after being accused of being “transphobic.”
“Department for Education (DfE) data show the child, aged either three or four, was suspended from a state school in the 2022-23 academic year for ‘abuse against sexual orientation and gender identity,’” The Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/31/toddler-kicked-out-of-nursery-for-being-transphobic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“It beggars belief that schools are suspending children as young as five for breaching their ‘transphobia’ policy. I would have thought that if your ideology is so rigid it justifies you punishing toddlers for not complying with it, that’s a powerful argument for discarding it in favor of something less dogmatic,” Lord Young, the director of the Free Speech Union, told the media outlet, which added that “statistics show that 94 pupils at state primary schools were suspended or permanently excluded for transphobia and homophobia in 2022-23.”

“Every once in a while, the extremes of gender ideology throw up a story that seems too crazy to believe, and a toddler being suspended from nursery for so-called ‘transphobia’ or homophobia is one such example,” Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at Sex Matters, reacted.

Officials have not ruled out foul play after the U.S.-flagged MV Stena Immaculate was struck by a Portuguese-flagged container ship on Monday while at anchor off the coast of the U.K.
The company that manages the ship, Crowley, said in a statement that the accident happened at 5 a.m. EST while the Stena Immaculate was anchored in the North Sea.
&#8220;The Stena Immaculate sustained a ruptured cargo tank containing Jet-A1 fuel due to the allision,&#8221; the company said. &#8220;A fire occurred as a result of the allision, and fuel was reported released.&#8221;
The crew abandoned the ship after multiple explosions were reported. Currently everyone on the ship has been accounted for.
&#8220;Crowley immediately initiated its emergency vessel response plan and is actively working with public agencies to contain the fire and secure the vessel,&#8221; the company added. &#8220;Our first priority is the safety of the people and environment. We will provide more updates as information becomes available.&#8221;
USNI News reported that the ship was under a 70-day contract by Military Sealift Command to support the Defense Logistics Agency, which is responsible for managing fuel for the United States military.
&#8220;The collision and ensuing explosions will not impact operations or combat readiness,&#8221; a United States official told Reuters. &#8220;We do not have a single point of failure.&#8221;

Britain&#8217;s ambassador to the United States said during an interview over the weekend that the European continent needed a &#8220;radical reset&#8221; in its priorities to match President Donald Trump&#8217;s desire for them to start carrying their own weight.
Lord Peter Mandelson made the remarks during a Sunday interview on ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week&#8221; with George Stephanopoulos when asked about remarks made by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
&#8220;My response is that we need a very radical reset,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And the reset has to consist of the United States and Ukraine getting back on the same page, and President Zelenskyy giving his unequivocal backing to the initiative that President Trump is taking to end the war and to bring a just and lasting peace to Ukraine.&#8221;
&#8220;And the Europeans, too, they need to back the cause for a ceasefire,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And by the way, I think that Ukraine should be the first to commit to a ceasefire and defy the Russians to follow. And then as part of the unfolding plan for this negotiation, the Europeans, and perhaps some other countries, too, have got to consider how they are going to put forces on the ground to play their part in providing enduring security and deterrence for Ukraine.&#8221;
He said that Zelensky must &#8220;make clear his commitment to the initiative that President Trump is taking&#8221; in order to get things back on track.
&#8220;And, yes, I do think it would be a good idea if he signed the economic and commercial deal put forward by the United States,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;And the reason I say that is quite apart from the economic gain that Ukraine will derive from that. It will also give the United States a stake in Ukraine&#8217;s future. It will mean that U.S. commercial interest, U.S. individual citizens will be on the ground there and that will be an even greater, added incentive for the U.S. to protect the Ukraine in future, make sure that war does not ensue again. That&#8217;s what I want to see. That&#8217;s what we all want to see.&#8221;

Controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, were granted permission to leave Romania and will arrive in the United States on Thursday after being held in the European country for two years on charges of human trafficking and organized crime.
The Tate brothers boarded a private jet at around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and are expected to land in southern Florida sometime Thursday morning, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/27/world/europe/tate-brothers-romania-us.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Romanian prosecutors allege that Andrew and Tristan, who started a pornographic webcam business, misled multiple women into believing they were interested in a relationship before housing them in a compound and forcing them to appear in pornographic videos. The Tate brothers have denied all charges against them.
Andrew and Tristan were successful in their appeal of an indictment against them in a Bucharest court, with the court finding that the case did not meet the requirements for a trial. Last month, Romania also lifted its house arrest order.
Tate and his brother were placed under house arrest last August after authorities launched a second investigation, according to <a href="https://news.sky.com/story/andrew-tate-house-arrest-order-lifted-by-court-in-romania-13288636" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sky News</a>. The travel permission granted to Andrew and his brother marks a shift in Romania&#8217;s handling of the investigation and comes after the Trump administration <a href="https://www.ft.com/content/3f951e0b-a9cb-489a-be89-fdf9f996ed27" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> pressured the Romanian government to lift travel restrictions on the pair.
Tate, who is a dual American and British citizen, has backed President Donald Trump and wrote on X earlier this month, &#8220;The Tates will be free, Trump is the president. The good old days are back. And they will be better than ever. Hold on [heart emoji].&#8221;
While Romanian officials granted permission for the Tate brothers to leave the country, they stressed that Andrew and Tristan are still required to appear &#8220;before authorities when summoned,” adding, “Failure to comply could result in stricter legal measures.”
The Tate brothers were also charged in Britain in a separate case and are being investigated in the country over &#8220;allegations of rape and human trafficking,&#8221; The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/02/27/andrew-tristan-tate-romania-us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The Tate brothers have denied the allegations made against them in Britain, saying they are disappointed &#8220;that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence.&#8221; A Romanian court ruled last March that the Tate brothers would be extradited to the United Kingdom after legal proceedings in Romania conclude.
Andrew Tate is a contentious figure on the Right. The social media personality gained notoriety mostly for his beliefs on sex and women. Tate, who has 10.7 million followers on X and over 770,000 followers on Instagram, often encourages men to have multiple sexual partners and discourages marriage.

Britain announced on Tuesday that it will ramp up its military spending in the coming years as Prime Minister Keir Starmer prepares to meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday.
Trump has long pushed European allies to spend more on their own militaries and contribute more to NATO&#8217;s defense. Starmer told Parliament that the U.K. would increase its military spending from 2.3% of gross domestic value to 2.5% by 2027 and then to 3% by 2034, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/world/europe/uk-defense-spending-starmer.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
&#8220;It is my first duty as Prime Minister to keep this country safe. That is why we are increasing defence spending to 2.5% of GDP from April 2027,&#8221; Starmer, the liberal Labour Party leader, <a href="https://x.com/Keir_Starmer/status/1894372457370316803" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;In an ever more dangerous world, it’s vital that we protect British people at home.&#8221;
Britain will pay for the increase in military spending by cutting back on foreign development aid from 0.5% of GDP to 0.3%, according to Starmer, who said the move was unfortunate but necessary. “At times like this, the defense and security of the British people must always come first,” he said.
The prime minister added that the announcement means the U.K. will be taking on more responsibility in its commitment to NATO and &#8220;the collective defence of our continent,&#8221; according to the <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyrkkv4gd7o" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBC</a>.
The U.K.&#8217;s move amounts to the nation&#8217;s largest military spending increase since the Cold War, a decision Starmer <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/business/ap-business/ap-starmer-commits-to-raise-uk-defense-spending-to-2-5-of-gdp-by-2027/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> is necessary because &#8220;tyrants like [Russian President Vladimir] Putin only respond to strength.&#8221; The Labour Party leader added that Britain will remain committed to supporting Ukraine&#8217;s defense as the U.S. continues peace negotiations with Russia and Ukraine.

Earlier this week, Starmer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/britains-keir-starmer-those-who-want-probes-into-rape-gangs-are-far-right" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> those who were wanting an investigation of jumping “on a bandwagon of the far-Right.”
Musk fired back at Starmer on X: “What an insane thing to say!”

The United Kingdom’s Supreme Court has heard arguments in a case in which the justices must define “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/videos/what-is-a-woman" target="_blank" rel="noopener">what is a woman</a>” as it pertains to the “Equality Act” by the Scottish government.
Five Supreme Court justices &#8212; three men and two women &#8212; agreed to hear the case brought by the women’s rights group For Women Scotland (FWS) against the Scottish legislature after it <a href="https://www.newstatesman.com/comment/2024/11/scottish-government-is-ignoring-womens-rights">passed a law stating that every Scottish public board</a> should include an equal amount of men and woman. However, the Scottish government&#8217;s definition of &#8220;woman&#8221; includes trans-identifying men with a “gender recognition certificate” (GRC), the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/uk-supreme-court-trans-gender-case-cf2bbc911c59b147a5261f431ee93eb7">Associated Press</a> reported. 
It also claimed that the certificate entitled transgender individuals to the same protection under the Equality Act as those born female, the <a href="https://www.newstatesman.com/comment/2024/11/scottish-government-is-ignoring-womens-rights">NewStatesmen</a> reported.
Lawyer for FWS, Aidan O’Neill, told the justices that “sex” should refer to biological sex as understood “in ordinary, everyday language&#8221; when it comes to the Equality Act. A 2022 decision by Scotland’s Court of Session ruled that for the purpose of equality, sex was “<a href="https://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/media/lgufy1zd/court-of-session-petition-of-for-women-scotland-limited-for-judicial-review-13-december-2022.pdf">not limited to biological or birth sex</a>” and that it included those with a GRC.
“Our position is your sex, whether you are a man or a woman or a girl or a boy is determined from conception in utero, even before one’s birth, by one’s body,” O’Neill said. “It is an expression of one’s bodily reality. It is an immutable biological state.”

For Women Scotland&#8217;s director, Trina Budge, pointed out, “Not tying the definition of sex to its ordinary meaning means that public boards could conceivably comprise of 50% men, and 50% men with certificates, yet still lawfully meet the targets for female representation.”

FWS includes such high profile members as famed “Harry Potter” author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/j-k-rowling">J.K. Rowling</a>, who reportedly donated what would be equivalent to more than $10,000 to the group’s fight.
Rowling has been a very vocal advocate for women and recently took to <a href="https://x.com/jk_rowling/status/1862651136500494557">social media</a> and shared a quote from O’Neill during the hearing.

A judgement on the case is not expected until well into the new year.

A top Tory conservative suggested Tuesday that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-k" target="_blank" rel="noopener">U.K.</a> Labor government lied about a suspected killer’s Islamist ties.
Conservative MP Robert Jenrick, a Tory leadership hopeful, said the government’s handling of an investigation into a July mass knife attack is raising doubts about whether “we are being told the truth about crime in our country.”
“Of course, the legal process needs to be respected, but I&#8217;m seriously concerned that the facts may have been withheld from the public here,” Jenrick said in a video posted to his social media. “The government and authorities told us for months that they were not treating this as a terrorist incident. But today, the attacker has been charged with terrorist offenses and it has been revealed that he has been allegedly reading terrorist manuals.”
On July 29, a man armed with a knife attacked children and others at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport, killing three children ages six, seven, and nine. Six other girls and two adults were injured.
Authorities arrested 18-year-old Axel Rudakubana, the son of Rwandan parents, and charged him in the attack. Prosecutors <a href="https://www.merseyside.police.uk/news/merseyside/news/2024/october/statement-from-chief-constable-serena-kennedy-and-partners-following-further-charges-for-axel-rudakubana/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">leveled</a> additional counts against Rudakubana on Wednesday of production of a biological toxin, ricin, and possession of information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing to commit an act of terrorism. The illicit information came in the form of an Al-Qaeda training manual.
The additional charges have ignited an uproar after police and government officials spent months denying evidence of links to terrorism in the case.
“The public had the right to know the truth right away. Any suggestion of a cover up will permanently damage trust in whether we are being told the truth about crime in our country,” Jenrick said. “[Prime Minister] Keir Starmer must urgently explain to the country what he knew about the Southport attack and when he learnt it.”
“Across the board, the hard reality of mass migration is being covered up. The public can see with their own eyes that they are being gas lit by the liberal elite,” he added.

After the July 29 attack, protests and riots erupted across the U.K. as calls were made to demonstrate over immigration and the threat of radical Islam. The chaos resulted in hundreds of arrests as officials warned against speculating on the motive for the attack. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/article/a-harsh-reckoning-will-come-for-racist-thugs-on-british-streets-mt3ptjxr7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promised</a> to arrest “racist thugs” and threatened those who “whipped them up on social media and in online chat forums.”

Starmer <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/keir-starmer-southport-riots-social-media-h9jm8q0vl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> social media companies about moderating the content on their platforms.
“Let me also say to large social media companies and those who run them. Violent disorder, clearly whipped up online, that is also a crime. It is happening on your premises. The law must be upheld everywhere,” he said.
Law enforcement have repeatedly denied that the case against Rudakubana is being treated as a terrorism case. Despite the terrorism charge now leveled against Rudakubana, authorities still deny terrorism as a motive for his alleged attack.
“At this time, Counter Terrorism Policing has not declared the attack on Monday 29 July a terrorist incident,” Merseyside Chief Constable Serena Kennedy said in a statement announcing the latest charges in the case. “I recognise that the new charges may lead to speculation. The matter for which Axel Rudakubana has been charged with under the Terrorism Act does not require motive to be established. For a matter to be declared a terrorist incident, motivation would need to be established.”
“We would strongly advise caution against anyone speculating as to motivation in this case,” Kennedy said. “The criminal proceedings against Axel Rudakubana are live and he has a right to a fair trial.”

A Muslim man in England won’t immediately report to prison even after he pleaded guilty to what a judge called “an outrageous public display of misogyny.”
Muhammed Hassan, 26, of Bradford, England, attacked three women he knew in broad daylight at a gas station because he disapproved of their makeup and clothes, local news outlet the Telegraph &amp; Argus <a href="https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/24539641.women-attacked-man-broad-daylight-bradford/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Prosecutor Ayman Khokhar said in court that the women had stopped to fill up their car at the gas station before going to dinner on May 25. That’s when Hassan approached the vehicle, grabbed the driver, and slammed her head on the dashboard. He then grabbed another woman by the hair and punched her in the head before also punching the third woman.
For this, Hassan was sentenced to six months in prison suspended for two years, meaning he won’t go to prison unless he violates a condition of his sentence. He must attend 35 rehabilitation activity requirement days “to address the underlying things that led to this otherwise inexplicable violence” and carry out 180 hours of community service while wearing an electronic tag to monitor his movements for the next four months. He must also pay a £500 fine.

“Whatever the motivation was for this it’s still utterly inadequate to justify the violence that you perpetrated against [the victims] when they were sitting in a car effectively cowering from you,” Judge Colin Burn said in court, according to the Argus. “The three people on the receiving end of your violence were women who were in a vulnerable situation.”
“[This was] an extremely abusive, controlling, and violent incident,” the judge added.
One of the women testified that Hassan had pulled up beside them at the gas station and began “refueling his car slowly on purpose.” The women said they decided to wait until he left because he had previously called them “slags” and “prostitutes” for not wearing traditional clothing and makeup. He had also previously demanded they dress conservatively.
Hassan still managed to gain access to them in their vehicle and beat them in a 51-second attack captured on CCTV. After the brutal attack, he drove away while the women called the police.
When interviewed by police, Hassan reportedly remained silent but later pleaded guilty to an affray charge, which is a disorderly conduct offense usually involving two or more people fighting in a public area.
Khokhar, the prosecutor, said in court that Hassan’s attack was motivated by misogyny.
“In broad daylight he has attacked three females at a petrol station,” she said, according to the Argus. “The offense appears to be motivated by sexist attitudes towards women.”
Fuad Arshad, representing Hassan, claimed his client’s behavior was “very much out of character” and said he was “very regretful.” Arshad also claimed that Hassan had believed the women had “played some role in how a marriage ended” but insisted his client knew that what he had done was “unjustified.”

The decision to keep Hassan out of jail comes barely a week after United Kingdom Home Secretary Yvette Cooper called misogyny an extremist ideology and vowed to crack down on it.
Cooper vowed to crack down on those “pushing harmful and hateful beliefs,” including extreme misogyny, in an attempt to fight extremism, The Guardian <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/society/article/2024/aug/18/extreme-misogyny-to-be-treated-as-form-of-terrorism-under-government-plans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
The Home Office commissioned a review that will inform a new government strategy to combat “the rise of Islamist and far-right extremism.”

Rowley’s remarks come amid ongoing protests and riots in the United Kingdom in response to the killing of three young girls during a mass-stabbing attack that left several more injured.
A reporter asked Rowley about &#8220;high profile figures&#8221; who were allegedly &#8220;whipping up the hatred&#8221; that he was claiming was happening online.
&#8220;I’m even thinking of the likes of Elon Musk getting involved,&#8221; the reporter said. &#8220;What are you considering when it comes to dealing with people who are whipping up this kind of behavior from behind a keyboard and maybe in a different country?&#8221;

“You can be guilty of offenses of, of incitement, of stirring up racial hatred. There are numerous terrorist offenses regarding the sort of publishing of material. All of those offenses are in play if people are provoking hatred and violence on the streets, and we will come after those individuals, just as we will physically confront on the streets the thugs and the yobs who are taking, who are causing the problems for communities.&#8221;
Right-wing protesters responded to the mass-stabbing incident by expressing outrage over rates of Muslim immigration to the United Kingdom, and the suspected terrorists who have entered the country.
Large Muslim gangs responded to the protests by marching around with weapons, rioting, and attacking people.
