Washington, D.C., has officially lost its status as an illegal alien sanctuary city amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital.
Attorney General Pam Bondi stripped the city’s Chief of Police Pamela Smith of her power this week, in the wake of President Donald Trump’s <a href="https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/executive-order-14333-declaring-crime-emergency-the-district-columbia">executive order</a>, instead <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bondi-strips-d-c-police-chief-of-power-names-new-emergency-police-commissioner">naming</a> Drug Enforcement Administration Administrator Terry Cole as the new emergency police commissioner.
Bondi also rescinded three orders from the city government limiting law enforcement’s ability to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Attorney General <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/08/15/us-news/ag-pam-bondi-declares-dc-will-not-remain-a-sanctuary-city-under-trump-cops-must-alert-ice-to-illegal-migrants/">pledged</a> that the district will not be a safe haven for illegal aliens in an interview in which she accused the city’s leadership of “shielding” illegal aliens from the law.
Bondi went on to assert that D.C. politicians are “trying to protect criminal aliens” and that “criminals are going to flee to DC” if the nation’s capital maintains its sanctuary city policies. “We’re not going to let that happen.”
The most recent of the three orders rescinded by Bondi prevented D.C. police from using databases to inquire about the immigration status of people in the nation’s capital.

“Members shall not make inquiries into any person’s immigration status for the purpose of determining whether they have violated the civil immigration laws or for the purpose of enforcing civil immigration laws,” <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dc-police-announce-major-action-immigration-enforcement-after-trumps-crime-crackdown">read</a> the order, which was implemented just last week.
“To the extent that provisions in this Order conflict with any existing MPD directives, those directives are hereby rescinded,” Bondi wrote.
“So, yes, you must comply. You must give the information to our ICE, to our Homeland Security officers,” Bondi said, addressing police officers in the nation’s capital. “If they have information of an illegal alien living in DC, they must give us that information.”
Now the city’s leadership must obtain approval from Cole before issuing new directives. Leaders in the city government have pushed back, with Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser’s attorney general, Brian Schwalb, issuing a legal opinion contesting the Trump administration’s crackdown on crime in the city.
“It is my opinion that the Bondi Order is unlawful, and that you are not legally obligated to follow it,” Schwalb wrote in a memo to D.C. Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith.
The nascent legal fight comes as federal authorities and the National Guard have begun patrolling the streets of the nation’s capital in an effort to curtail the “out of control” crime that Trump seeks to end.

Parts of the border wall that The Daily Wire revealed were auctioned off by the Biden administration are now expected to be returned to the Trump administration to support the President’s “border protection plans.”
The Biden administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-races-to-sell-off-border-wall-parts-before-trump-takes-office">sold off</a> portions of the border wall in Arizona for pennies on the dollar in December, just one month before Trump reentered office in a move that critics called an attempt to hamstring the new administration. Now, those materials will be handed back over to the federal government.
GovPlanet, the government supply auctioning site that listed the border wall materials, says that it will expedite the return of the materials to the federal government, citing its support for the Trump administration’s border security plans.
“GovPlanet has reached an agreement, working with the Office of the Border Czar, to return border wall materials that were previously deemed surplus and sourced by the federal government to GovPlanet via existing contracts,” the company <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/what-happened-border-wall-components-got-sold-off-under-biden">explained</a>. “We are expediting the transfer of these materials to support the administration&#8217;s border protection plans.”
The sale of the border wall materials, Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) told The Daily Wire, was an attempt by the Biden administration to hamstring the Trump administration. “The Biden Administration is well aware they shouldn’t have reversed the construction of the border wall. If it’s true, they’re purposefully hamstringing an incoming president, it wouldn’t be shocking,” Crane charged. “Why would they want to see President Trump succeed with policies they aggressively sabotaged?”
The Republican Congressman from Arizona called the sale “a direct affront to the will of the people,” who had given President Trump a mandate to secure the border just a month before The Daily Wire broke the news of the auctions.
The sale came after Biden presided over a record-breaking surge of illegal immigration into the United States.
The materials will now be handed over to a firm that has been contracted by the government to build the wall, GovPlanet says. “We value our longstanding partnership with the U.S. government and look forward to continuing to support America’s federal agencies,” GovPlanet added. “A third-party firm that has been contracted for construction of the border wall will take receipt of the materials over the next 90 days.”
GovPlanet also said that the supplies will be returned to the federal government “at-cost” in order to “protect the millions of dollars that U.S. taxpayers had already invested in this initiative.”

A federal appeals court overturned a left-wing judge’s threat to hold Trump administration officials in criminal contempt for deporting Venezuelan illegal aliens to El Salvador.
The appeals court ruling is a win for the Trump administration, which has been locked in a legal battle with Judge James Boasberg, whom the White House has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-judge-threatens-to-hold-trump-admin-in-criminal-contempt-of-court-over-deportation-flights">blasted</a> as a “Democrat activist” working to “usurp the president’s authority.”
The 2-1 decision from a panel of judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit struck down Boasberg’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftist-judge-threatens-to-hold-trump-admin-in-criminal-contempt-of-court-over-deportation-flights">earlier finding </a>that there was probable cause that some officials acted in contempt of court.
Boasberg, an Obama appointee who The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-obama-appointed-judge-trying-to-stop-trump-from-deporting-criminal-illegals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed</a> is married to the founder of a Washington, D.C.-area abortion clinic who has given money to the Democrats, blocked the Trump administration from deporting illegal aliens to El Salvador’s terrorist confinement center in March. The federal judge later said that the Trump administration defied a court order by refusing to turn around a deportation flight already on its way to El Salvador.
“The court does not reach such conclusion lightly or hastily; indeed, it has given defendants ample opportunity to rectify or explain their actions. None of their responses has been satisfactory,” Boasberg wrote.
Friday’s ruling puts to rest the threat from Boasberg, with a concurring opinion charging that the liberal judge’s claims raise “troubling questions about judicial control over core executive functions like the conduct of foreign policy and the prosecution of criminal offenses.”
The ruling comes on the heels of a Supreme Court victory <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-secures-victory-in-scotus-ruling-enabling-more-deportations">upholding</a> the Trump administration’s authority to deport illegal aliens to “third countries” — nations willing to take in migrants from elsewhere.
The Trump administration has used third-country agreements to deport illegal aliens whose home countries are unwilling to accept them, as well as to deport others who have protection orders that prevent them from being sent back to their nation of origin.

The Department of Homeland Security has busted scores of illegal alien human traffickers and sex predators, and The Daily Wire has obtained exclusive details on the criminal illegals busted by the federal law enforcement agency.
Operations spanning from Newark, New Jersey, to Camarillo, California, resulted in the arrest of dozens of illegal aliens perpetrating the heinous crimes, with the federal agency saying that “the full weight of the American government is bringing the hammer down on human trafficking rings.”
“The brave men and women of DHS are the best in the world at going after traffickers. They are always able to track down those who are trafficking individuals, find the ringleaders, and rip that evil off by its head,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem told The Daily Wire.
“I’m so thankful that I get the chance to lead individuals like that, and agents who get up every day to help save our children and to save women and men from the kind of slavery that we’ve seen,” the secretary went on to say, celebrating the work of DHS agents to bust human trafficking rings on the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
One late July operation in Newark resulted in the arrest of four illegal alien child predators by ICE agents over a four-day span. Those arrested in the enforcement action, which was part of Operation Apex Predator, were all registered sex offenders.
A July 22 operation resulted in the arrest of a human smuggler in Laredo, Texas, who was found to be smuggling 101 migrants in a locked trailer. Of those 101 individuals, 12 were children. The man was sentenced to 63 months in prison.
ICE and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation teamed up to levy a four-count indictment against eight people with ties to the criminal gang Tren de Aragua, with the defendants charged for their involvement in a “transnational commercial sex enterprise.”
In one particularly disturbing case, Homeland Security Investigations arrested an Ecuadoran national in New York for the sexual violation of a minor. Authorities discovered that a 15-year-old girl who was pregnant with the man&#8217;s child had been apprehended after attempting to illegally enter the United States, and that the man had been in a relationship with the child in Ecuador since she was 13 years old. The Ecuadoran national, authorities say, arranged to have her smuggled into the United States.
Not all of the perpetrators busted by federal authorities were illegal aliens. One American citizen, who was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals working in coordination with Customs and Border Protection, was identified as a &#8220;high-priority target linked to a criminal syndicate operating in human exploitation.&#8221; The suspect was arrested in Yuma, Arizona, and was wanted for placing individuals into prostitution, residing in a house of prostitution, and profiting from the earnings of prostitution.
Other operations targeted human smuggling rings that sought to bring illegal aliens into the United States for profit. The federal agency busted a transnational smuggling ring on May 2, when it discovered that four Mexican illegal aliens were running an “international human smuggling conspiracy” to bring illegal aliens into the United States from the Canadian border. Those smuggled into the United States would pay thousands of dollars to the criminal ring.
Homeland Security busted another smuggling ring on March 25, when a woman who had smuggled more than 100 Colombians into the United States was sentenced to 30 months in prison following her arrest by ICE in Arizona.
Customs and Border Protection apprehended a Mexican national in California’s Port San Luis who sedated a child and attempted to smuggle the child across the border. The woman claimed that she was the mother and presented a false birth certificate, with agents discovering that the woman did not have any familial ties to the child.
Under Trump and Noem, Homeland Security has also cracked down on forced labor rings. One South Korean company, Taepyung Salt Farm, is <a href="https://www.cbp.gov/newsroom/national-media-release/cbp-issues-withhold-release-order-taepyung-salt-farm">no longer able to import</a> its products to the United States, with Customs and Border Protection agents detaining their imports on account of “information that reasonably indicates the use of forced labor in the production of the company’s sea salt products.”
Agents also shut down a now-infamous marijuana growing operation in Camarillo, California, rescuing 14 migrant children who were at risk of exploitation, trafficking, and forced labor. Agents arrested a whopping 361 illegal aliens, including some with charges for rape, attempted rape, kidnapping, and attempted child molestation.

Groups tied to the left-wing billionaire George Soros are rallying in support of a Republican congresswoman&#8217;s plan to give millions of illegal aliens legal status in the United States.
Rep. Maria Salazar&#8217;s (R-FL) Dignity Act would allow illegal aliens to apply for a renewable, seven-year legal status, so long as they don’t have a criminal record beyond illegal entry. Illegal aliens who’ve been shielded from deportation under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program would be allowed to gain permanent legal status.
Conservatives have slammed the legislation as a handout to illegal aliens. But liberal groups, some with a history of supporting the legalization of all illegal aliens, are lining up behind the joint effort from Salazar and Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX).
That includes several organizations with ties to George Soros, the leftist billionaire and Democrat donor who has <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/immigration/2022/10/01/soros-open-society-foundation-millions-pro-amnesty-pro-illegal-immigration-groups/">bankrolled</a> efforts across the country to encourage mass immigration and offer mass amnesty to illegal aliens before leveraging new immigrants as a Democratic voting bloc.
One <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-soros-backed-organizations-leverage-waves-of-new-immigrants-to-sway-elections">Soros-backed group</a> tracked the demographics of key swing states and worked to naturalize immigrants to “sway the outcome of national, state, and local elections.”

Another Soros-backed group, called United We Dream, raked in $700,000 from the far-left billionaire as it called for an amnesty for all illegal aliens, the closing of ICE detention facilities, and the defunding of ICE and Border Patrol.
Now, Soros-aligned organizations are lining up behind the Dignity Act.
One radical organization that advocates for an amnesty for all illegal aliens, FWD.us, came out <a href="https://www.fwd.us/news/fwd-us-statement-on-reintroduction-of-the-bipartisan-dignity-act/">in support</a> of Salazar’s bill in a statement that also bashed President Donald Trump’s immigration policies and “attacks on immigrant communities.”
“The bipartisan Dignity Act is a much-needed step forward. We thank Congresswomen Salazar and Escobar, along with the bill’s other co-sponsors, for reintroducing this important bipartisan legislation,” the far-left group wrote.
The organization doubled down on its support for mass amnesty for all illegal aliens, framing the Dignity Act as a step towards the group’s end goal.
“We will continue to fight for a more fair and just immigration system, including a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented immigrants building their lives in the United States. We hope today’s reintroduction will be met by more steps towards commonsense immigration reform,” the group stated.
The organization frequently <a href="https://www.fwd.us/news/fwd-us-statement-on-trump-administrations-plan-to-end-tps-for-honduras-and-nicaragua/">criticizes</a> the Trump administration&#8217;s <a href="https://www.fwd.us/news/fwd-us-statement-on-trump-administration-executive-orders-on-immigration/">policies</a> on immigration and <a href="https://www.fwd.us/news/fwd-us-statement-on-the-2024-election-results/">complained</a> when he won the 2024 election.
The group’s partner organization, the Fwd.us Education Fund, has <a href="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/grants/past?filter_keyword=fwd.us">received nearly $600,000</a> from the Open Society Foundation, a project of billionaire Democrat donor and far-left philanthropist George Soros. One $125,000 grant bankrolled an effort “to catalogue and provide comprehensive legal analysis of federal immigration policy.” The Fwd.us Education Fund shares the same board members as Fwd.us.
The group also <a href="https://www.fwd.us/team/executive/todd-schulte/">opposed</a> the Trump administration&#8217;s Remain in Mexico policy, which bars illegal aliens from entering the country while asylum claims are being adjudicated. FWD.us did not respond to a request for comment.
FWD.us is far from the only leftist organization that has come out in support of the effort to grant legal status to millions of illegal aliens.
Far-left organization UnidosUS also sang the praises of the bill online. “The reintroduction of the Dignity Act comes at a critical time. Immigrant families across the country are living with fear and uncertainty amid rising enforcement and threats of mass deportation,” the group wrote in a <a href="https://x.com/weareunidosus/status/1945595952099721670?s=46&amp;t=Xt7LDGYR54I2nQa-aK0rOA">post on X</a>. “We welcome bipartisan efforts to protect long-residing immigrants who have built their lives here. Any serious solution must offer stability, legal status and a path forward.”
The organization was awarded a $22 million grant from the Biden administration to encourage that “vulnerable populations,” including illegal aliens, receive the COVID-19 vaccine, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-government-is-spending-22-million-to-help-illegal-immigrants-get-covid-vaccines">reported</a>.
The group also came out <a href="https://unidosus.org/press-releases/unidosus-condemns-us-senate-for-passing-president-trumps-cruel-costly-and-harmful-federal-budget-bill/">against</a> Trump&#8217;s budget bill, arguing that it will allow the administration to &#8220;turbocharge its chaotic, malicious and unlawful deportation machine.&#8221;
The group’s sister organization, UnidosUS Action, <a href="https://www.unidosusaf.org/pathtocitizenship">called</a> for illegal aliens to receive a pathway to citizenship in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. That group has raked in <a href="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/grants/past?filter_keyword=unidosus">half a million dollars</a> from the Open Society Foundations, with all of the money going to “support policy advocacy on immigration.”
UnidosUS told The Daily Wire that it has “consistently voiced support for bipartisan bills that offer immigrants the stability they deserve.&#8221;
&#8220;It’s why we welcome the Dignity Act, a genuine bipartisan effort that protects long-settled immigrants who contribute to our country from deportation while allowing employers to retain their workforce,&#8221; the group explained.
The American Immigration Council, which has received <a href="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/grants/past?filter_keyword=American+immigration+council+">nearly $2 million</a> from the Open Society Foundations and <a href="https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/taking-action-trump-first-100-days/">dubbed</a> Trump&#8217;s immigration agenda &#8220;cruel,&#8221; also appears to support the legislation, favorably showcasing it on its site.
“Members of Congress reintroduced what has sadly become an increasingly rare bit of legislation: an immigration reform bill aimed at addressing large-scale systematic problems with our immigration system,” the organization wrote in a <a href="https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/blog/legislators-immigration-reform-reintroduced-dignidad-act/">glowing review</a> of the bill, which called it “one of the most sweeping attempts to modify the immigration system that has been proposed in years.”
The organization has received <a href="https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org/grants/past?filter_keyword=American+immigration+council+">numerous grants</a> from Soros’s foundation, including funding “to support strategies that ensure legal protections for immigrants and demonstrate the value of immigrants to America,” “to develop advocacy strategies around federal immigration policy,” and to “support policy advocacy on immigration.”
The American Immigration Council did not respond to a request for comment.
While Salazar’s legislation has been celebrated by leftist organizations, conservative politicians and organizations have spoken out against it.
“Some of my colleagues in Congress want to reward illegal aliens with amnesty,” Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) charged in a post on X in an apparent <a href="https://x.com/RepTiffany/status/1945944219438260265">reference</a> to Salazar’s effort to legalize illegal aliens. “No amnesty — only mass deportations.”
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) told The Daily Wire that it opposes the Dignity Act, calling it a “de facto amnesty.”
“‘A pathway to citizenship’ is just a more verbose term for amnesty. As for the non-DACA beneficiaries of this bill, being allowed to remain here legally indefinitely is still a de facto amnesty,” FAIR Media Director Ira Mehlman told The Daily Wire.
“The five-year requirement for eligibility seems to have been carefully chosen to predate the onset of the Biden administration. But, nevertheless, by FAIR&#8217;s estimates, there were some 15 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. prior to Biden taking office — which would mean that the bill would grant legal status to an enormous population of illegal aliens,” Mehlman added.
He added that the bill would almost certainly provide a way to give full citizenship to those granted renewable legal status under Salazar’s bill.
“There is also pretty much close to a 100% chance that within a few years, there would be an effort to put these millions of people with renewable status on ‘a pathway to citizenship’ as well,” Mehlman charged. “We would almost certainly hear the same arguments that are being made for granting DACA beneficiaries a full amnesty.”

Tens of thousands of illegal aliens have self-deported since the Trump administration began encouraging illegal aliens to return to their nations of origin and repurposed an app used by the Biden administration to streamline mass migration into the United States, a new report says.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, Breitbart News <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/07/21/trumps-cbp-home-app-gets-tens-of-thousands-illegals-to-self-deport/">reports</a>, say that there have been tens of thousands of illegal alien self-deportations since the Trump administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-transforms-bidens-cbp-one-app-leave-now-and-self-deport">overhauled</a> the Customs and Border Patrol One app.
The platform was originally used by migrants to remotely schedule asylum application interviews before the Trump administration revamped it, now allowing illegal aliens to submit their intent to depart from the United States, giving officials an estimate on the number of illegal aliens leaving the country by their own accord.
Encouraging self-deportations, immigration experts <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-one-simple-trick-that-could-lead-illegal-immigrants-to-self-deport">tell The Daily Wire</a>, is an essential part of any campaign to crack down on illegal immigration and decrease the number of illegal aliens in the United States, which the Federation for American Immigration Reform <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-alien-population-surges-to-record-high-bombshell-study-finds">estimated</a> at 18.6 million as of early 2025.

“As of 2025, American population growth comes almost entirely from unsustainably high levels of immigration, both legal and illegal,” the organization charged.
The CBP Home app is part of a broader effort to get illegal aliens to voluntarily leave the United States, with the administration now offering illegal aliens <a href="http://v/">$1,000 to self-deport</a> and threatening to fine them <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-to-fine-illegal-aliens-nearly-1k-a-day-for-refusing-to-self-deport">nearly $1,000 per day</a> they refuse to leave the country.
The DHS also launched an advertising campaign encouraging illegal aliens to leave the country. The ad, which showcased violent criminal illegals captured by ICE like a previously deported MS-13 murder suspect <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/previously-deported-ms-13-member-leads-authorities-on-manhunt-in-colony-ridge">caught at Colony Ridge</a>, featured DHS Secretary Kristi Noem as she told illegal aliens to “do what’s right: leave now.”
ICE also published a <a href="https://www.ice.gov/self-deportation">guide to self deportation</a> on its site, telling illegal aliens, “you do not need to turn yourself in to an ICE office if you intend to self-deport. You may simply leave the country.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is set to receive a massive influx of funding thanks to the passage of the One Big Beautiful Act, giving the agency a budget that exceeds every federal law enforcement agency, including the FBI.
“President Trump’s signing the One Big Beautiful Bill is a win for law and order and the safety and security of the American people,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/07/04/secretary-noem-commends-president-trump-and-one-big-beautiful-bill-signing-law">said</a>. “This $165 billion in funding will help the Department of Homeland Security and our brave law enforcement further deliver on President Trump’s mandate to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens.”
That sum includes roughly $75 billion for ICE — additional funding on top of the agency&#8217;s baseline budget, which hovers around <a href="https://time.com/7299360/big-beautiful-bill-trump-ice-immigration/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">$10 billion</a> per year. That additional funding, which is earmarked for hiring agents, creating new detention space, and funding removal operations, translates to an annual funding of more than $25 billion per year through fiscal year 2029. The sum eclipses the $11.3 billion in <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/news/speeches-and-testimony/a-review-of-the-president-s-fiscal-year-2025-budget-request-for-the-federal-bureau-of-investigation">funding</a> requested by the FBI for fiscal year 2025.
The bill empowers ICE to drastically increase the number of agents on its payroll, putting it closer to its goal of 1 million deportations per year. The law enforcement agency currently has 20,000 agents and support personnel in 400 different offices across the country. With the new funding, another 10,000 could be hired, marking a drastic, 50% increase in agents and support personnel.
Just under <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/07/03/immigration-spending-increases-trump-big-beautiful-bill">$30 billion</a> has been earmarked for hiring, training, and agent retention, as well as for the modernization of the agency’s vehicles.
The legislation also grants ICE a whopping <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/07/us/politics/trump-administration-immigrant-detention-facilities-services.html">$45 billion</a> to increase its illegal alien detention capacity over the next two years, a key component in the effort to deport millions of illegal aliens.
That funding will allow ICE to reach agreements with contractors who will construct detention facilities and provide security, medical care, and transportation as the agency aims to create an unprecedented number of detention spots for illegal aliens. The bill, according to the Department of Homeland Security, will allow ICE to secure 80,000 new detention beds and allow the federal agency to maintain an average daily population of 100,000 illegal aliens in detention at any given time.
The bill allocates another $14.4 billion to fund “removal transportation,” like deportation flights back to illegal aliens’ countries of origin or to willing “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-secures-victory-in-scotus-ruling-enabling-more-deportations?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=17&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Admin+Secures+Victory+In+SCOTUS+Ruling+Enabling+More+Deportations">third countries</a>” that agree to accept deportees from the United States.
The legislation also aims to bolster border security, notably allocating $46.5 billion to complete the border wall. The effort marks a drastic shift from the previous administration, which <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-races-to-sell-off-border-wall-parts-before-trump-takes-office">auctioned off</a> pieces of the border wall for pennies on the dollar just after Trump won the election.
It also grants $3.2 billion for new technology along the border and another $2.7 billion for autonomous border surveillance tech. Customs and Border Protection will, like ICE, be granted funding to hire new agents. That money will allow the agency to hire 3,000 new Border Patrol agents as well as another 3,000 customs officers. Another $855 million will be used to modernize Customs and Border Protection&#8217;s vehicle fleet.

A leftwing group dedicated to dismantling “structural racism” in finance has raked in millions of dollars in federal grants. But now its federal funding and non-profit status could be in jeopardy, as the group discriminates against white internship applicants in violation of President Donald Trump’s executive order.
The North Carolina-based Croatan Institute touts its allegiance to the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda on its website, promising to tackle “structural racism in finance” even as it imposed race-based selection criteria on its paid internship program. The program appears to violate President Trump’s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-illegal-discrimination-and-restoring-merit-based-opportunity/">executive order</a> barring DEI policies and discrimination among federal grant recipients.
Now, a legal expert tells The Daily Wire that the program jeopardizes the federal funds currently en route to the organization, as well as any future funds that the Croatan Institute might hope to garner.
The Croatan Institute <a href="https://croataninstitute.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/BLAISE-1-Pager.pdf">boasts</a> the BLAISE internship program, which stands for &#8220;BIPOC Leaders Advancing an Inclusive and Sustainable Economy.&#8221; The program seeks to increase the representation of specific demographic groups in the financial industry.
The internship program’s eligibility requirements detail the race-based selection process. “Priority given to students of color or first-generation students from underserved communities,” the site reads. The group attempts to justify its racial preferences by writing that “in the world of finance, there is a dearth of people of color.”
The program could land the Croatan Institute in hot water, Heritage Foundation Senior Legal Fellow GianCarlo Canaparo told The Daily Wire.
“Any entity that receives federal funds is prohibited by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act from discriminating on the basis of race and other protected categories,” Canaparo explained. “Giving priority to certain races, as the BIPOC internship does, is textbook discrimination.” He added that the discrimination could be remedied by way of a federal lawsuit.
The Croatan Institute has <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/recipient/93c07c39-40a4-c537-677c-326962e00582-R/latest">garnered</a> more than $4 million in federal grants since fiscal year 2022. Included in that sum is a <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_25CA11083150101_12C2">$1.9 million grant</a> from the Department of Agriculture for fiscal year 2025, of which just under $470,000 has already been paid out. The organization was also slated to receive <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_5850903013_12H2">$40,000</a> from the Department of Agriculture to host a “financial health workshop series for BIPOC farmers and landowners.”
“If Croatan continues to receive federal funds, those funds are absolutely in jeopardy,” Canaparo explained. “And if Croatan hopes to receive more federal funds in the future, it will have to terminate this discriminatory internship program or it&#8217;s likely to <a href="https://fedsoc.org/commentary/fedsoc-blog/understanding-the-liability-risks-posed-by-trump-s-dei-order-1">face False Claims Act liability</a> in addition to all the other sorts of liability,” he added, highlighting yet another legal risk that the organization appears to have exposed itself to.
The organization appears to have held the internship program for several years as it was raking in the federal money. The Croatan Institute announced the internship’s <a href="https://croataninstitute.org/blaise-pilot-launches-for-bipoc-students-2/">pilot program</a> in 2022 and stated even more blatantly that applicants “must identify as black, indigenous, Latinx, or person of color.”
The program could threaten more than just the organization’s federal funding, however. Canaparo pointed out that the discriminatory program “jeopardizes its nonprofit status,” adding that “the IRS can revoke the tax-exempt status of a nonprofit that engages in race discrimination.”
The organization&#8217;s internship program is part of a <a href="https://croataninstitute.org/reefs/">broader initiative</a>, called &#8220;Racial Equity, Economics, Finance and Sustainability,&#8221; which seeks to &#8220;advance opportunities for greater representation of underserved communities.&#8221; The <a href="https://croataninstitute.org/BIPOC-Financial-Health/">initiative</a> includes one project, called the Financial Health Investment Project, which seeks to promote &#8220;the financial resilience and long-term success of Black and other minority farmers and landowners&#8221; by offering online financial coaching. The program was <a href="https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/fy-2023-2501-funded-projects.pdf">funded</a> by Department of Agriculture to the tune of $731,000.
The Croatan Institute isn’t the only federal grant recipient that’s discriminated against whites as it&#8217;s pursued the DEI agenda. A music ensemble <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/music-ensemble-hosts-bipoc-internship-barring-white-applicants-citing-systemic-allyship">investigated</a> by The Daily Wire received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and held a “BIPOC internship” that explicitly barred whites from participation on account of their race.
The group even posted the demographic breakdown of their intern classes, further proving that it had excluded white applicants. The organization <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/non-profit-freezes-internship-that-discriminated-against-whites-after-daily-wire-investigation">froze its internship program</a> in the wake of The Daily Wire investigation.
The Croatan Institute did not respond to a request for comment.

On Monday, Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a &#8220;complete and total ceasefire,&#8221; adding that the &#8220;12 Day War&#8221; should be considered ended.
Early the next day, both Iran and Israel accused the other of breaking the ceasefire, and the agreement appeared fragile. Trump expressed anger with both countries, warning Israel not to drop more bombs and promising that Iran will &#8220;never rebuild&#8221; its nuclear facilities. The U.S. military carried out strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend.
&#8220;I think they both violated it. I&#8217;m not sure they did it intentionally. They couldn&#8217;t rein people back. I don&#8217;t like the fact that Israel went out this morning at all, and I&#8217;m going to see if I can stop it,&#8221; Trump told reporters outside the White House Tuesday morning.

After Trump&#8217;s comments, the ceasefire appeared to hold Tuesday afternoon, with both Israel and Iran saying they would not break it unless the other does so first.

&#8220;President Trump also took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon,&#8221; the congressman wrote.
He said Trump&#8217;s leadership in the volatile situation &#8220;exemplifies the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of international harmony. In a region plagued by historical animosity and political volatility, such a breakthrough demands both courage and clarity.&#8221;

Hundreds of thousands of migrants who were paroled into the country by the Biden administration were informed Thursday that their legal status and work authorization has been officially revoked and are now being encouraged to self-deport back to their countries of origin.
The Department of Homeland Security began notifying many of the more than 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, and Nicaragua that their parole had been formally <a href="https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/06/12/dhs-begins-terminating-bidens-migrant-parole-scheme-warns-illegal-aliens-they-should-self-deport/">revoked</a> as of Thursday. The move comes after the Trump administration announced in March that it would revoke the status of the migrants.
“They allowed more than half a million poorly vetted aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members to enter the United States through these disastrous parole programs,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin charged.
She added that the Biden administration “granted them opportunities to compete for American jobs and undercut American workers; forced career civil servants to promote the programs even when fraud was identified; and then blamed Republicans in Congress for the chaos that ensued and the crime that followed.”
President Donald Trump also railed against the Biden administration&#8217;s immigration policies and encouraged illegal aliens to self-deport in a post on Truth Social Thursday.

The formal revocation of parole status for more than half a million migrants comes a week after the Supreme Court <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-supreme-court-lets-trump-revoke-parole-status-migrants-2025-05-30/">ruled in favor</a> of the Trump administration, noting that it was within the president’s power to modify the status of the migrants.
The ruling came in the wake of a federal judge’s decision to temporarily block Trump from revoking the status. That judge, The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/judge-who-prevented-trumps-deportation-of-500k-migrants-volunteered-for-obama-elizabeth-warren">reported,</a> previously volunteered for and donated to prominent Democrat candidates, including Senator Elizabeth Warren and former President Barack Obama.
“Ending the CHNV parole programs, as well as the paroles of those who exploited it, will be a necessary return to common-sense policies, a return to public safety, and a return to America First,” McLaughlin said.
The Trump administration previously encouraged illegal aliens to self-deport, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-transforms-bidens-cbp-one-app-leave-now-and-self-deport">remaking</a> an online application that was previously used to streamline migrants into the country into a platform where illegal aliens can submit their intent to depart the United States. Illegal aliens can even qualify for a <a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-immigration-mass-deportation-payment-border-illegal-c459325c4a73dba0d5a89fa19dbee334">$1,000 stipend</a> and have their travel costs covered if they leave the country voluntarily.

Centro CSO, an organization that <a href="https://www.instagram.com/centrocso/?hl=en">pushes</a> for the Mexican people to have “self-determination” in America’s southwestern states, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/1420030845819289/?acontext=%7B%22event_action_history%22%3A%5B%7B%22surface%22%3A%22external_search_engine%22%7D%2C%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22attachment%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22newsfeed%22%7D%5D%2C%22ref_notif_type%22%3Anull%7D">recruited</a> its followers to join the Sunday protests as violence escalated against federal law enforcement. The group marched with a banner that read “Fight Trump,” and reposted an image of an ICE vehicle on social media, particularly flagging that car’s license plate.
The group&#8217;s rallying call is the flag of <a href="https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/aztlan#:~:text=Aztl%C3%A1n%2C%20the%20name%20of%20the,during%20the%201970s%20Chicano%20movement.">Aztlán</a>, a mythical homeland of the Aztecs in the southwestern United States, which was ruled by Mexico prior to the Mexican American War and the independence of Texas. The symbol has been used by Mexican nationalists who claim that America has no legitimate claim to states, including Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California.
An individual associated with the organization spoke at the rally and appeared to threaten violence against law enforcement. “They’re going to find out that we don’t play games out here,” Sammy Carrera said. “We’re no longer going to be on the defense, we’re going to take the fight to them,” he said of ICE agents in a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKqJodkySY-/?igsh=d3NxdG1zdTdxb3My">video</a> that was posted by a communist organization.
Centro CSO was not the only group involved in organizing the anti-ICE protests, which began on Friday after the federal agency <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gang-members-sex-offenders-and-more-heres-who-ice-actually-picked-up-during-la-raids">arrested</a> gang members and sex offenders, that argues the United States should be conquered by Mexico.

Another ethnic separatist group that <a href="https://www.facebook.com/udblosangeles/videos/uni%C3%B3n-del-barrio-and-community-self-defense-coalition-of-la-emergency-presa-conf/1799740457307503/">joined</a> the protest effort is Unión del Barrio, which <a href="https://uniondelbarrio.org/main/4-2/struggle/border-violence-migration/">calls</a> the United States an “illegal settler nation” and agitates on behalf of “<a href="https://uniondelbarrio.org/eng/">la raza</a>,” or, the race.
The “revolutionary” organization similarly <a href="https://uniondelbarrio.org/main/4-2/about-udb/political-program/who-we-are/i-from-alaska-to-chile-we-are-one-people-without-borders/">invokes the myth</a> of Aztlán, also referring to the American southwest as occupied Mexico. Unión del Barrio considers itself an international racial organization that <a href="https://uniondelbarrio.org/main/4-2/about-udb/political-program/who-we-are/ii-this-is-nuestra-america-we-are-indigenous-nations/">fights against</a> “European colonialism&#8221; and the “Anglo settler.”
“We hold that the struggle of La Raza in Aztlan/México Ocupado is historically and geographically defined as an indigenous and Mexicano anti-colonial fight for land and socialism,” the group says. Unión del Barrio calls for international racial unity to overthrow “European colonialism” and “neocolonialists” among the “United States white nationalist population.”
“The principled unification of our forces throughout Nuestra América will be necessary to overturn all manifestations of colonial, imperialist, and neoliberal oppression,” it goes on to say.
One of the organization’s <a href="https://www.democracynow.org/2025/6/9/los_angeles_protests_immigration_ice_raids?jwsource=cl">community organizers</a> is Ron Gochez, a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, who charged that “frail racist white people” want to keep Hispanics out of the United States.

The efforts of the two extreme organizations were bolstered by the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/communityselfdefensecoalition/?hl=en">Community Self Defense Coalition</a>, which <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DKqVkcVx5jS/?igsh=bmwxMGtlOWltdHd6">gave out</a> helmets, respirators, goggles, and masks to protesters. Large groups of protesters refused to disperse as police used tear gas and other non-lethal devices to break up illegal gatherings.

The organization takes to social media to broadcast the location of ICE agents and works with Unión del Barrio to create and disseminate a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DIR-96WTX7r/?igsh=bjJ4OHpzc2hycGIx">guide</a> on how to identify the vehicles used by ICE.
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, which The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-says-shell-enforce-border-laws-her-admin-gave-1-2-million-to-group-that-wants-to-end-them">reported</a> received funding from the Department of Homeland Security under the Biden administration, was also <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/06/08/us-news/some-la-migrant-protests-fueled-by-taxpayer-funded-group-with-dem-ties-another-with-ccp-link/">involved</a> in the Los Angeles protests. The Trump administration froze funding to the group, which worked to “dismantle the U.S. immigration enforcement system” all while it raked in millions of dollars from the Biden administration.
Marxist organizations also joined in the protests against ICE. The protests were <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RefuseFascismLA/">advertised</a> by Refuse Fascism Los Angeles, a far-left organization that hands out propaganda created by the RevCom, the Revolutionary Communist Party. The two groups <a href="https://revcom.us/en/refuse-fascism-emergency-assembliesorganize-strategize-mobilize-demand-trump-fascist-regime-must-go">collaborate</a> as they agitate against what they call the “Trump fascist regime.” The Revolutionary Communist Party advocates for “world revolution and the ultimate aim of communism.”
The Party for Socialism and Liberation, another <a href="https://pslweb.org/program/">Marxist organization</a>, also encouraged people to “<a href="https://x.com/pslnational/status/1931763397441298929">take to the streets</a>” to protest in Los Angeles and <a href="https://x.com/pslnational/status/1931153408326861006">join</a> the march.
