Texas Senator John Cornyn introduced a bill Tuesday that would end all federal funding for transgender procedures on both children and adults.
The Stop Funding Genital Mutilation Act would ensure that no dollars from Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) pay for transgender medical procedures, like removing the breasts of girls who identify as boys, or the administration of cross-sex hormones.
“Texas taxpayers should not be forced to foot the bill for dangerous and often debilitating ‘gender transition’ procedures that are driven by radical ideology masquerading as health care,” Cornyn told The Daily Wire.
The text of the proposal, also sponsored by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), follows the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/long-overdue-house-republicans-vote-to-end-federal-funding-for-transgender-procedures?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=%E2%80%98Long+Overdue%E2%80%99%3A+House+Republicans+Vote+To+End+Federal+Funding+For+Transgender+Procedures">same lines</a> as the “one, big, beautiful” bill passed by the House, which also ends all funding for transgender procedures. 
Cornyn said that he would fight to ensure that the Senate’s version of the reconciliation spending bill would cut funding for transgender procedures like the House. His introduction of the bill comes as he faces a contentious primary challenge from Attorney General Ken Paxton, also a firm opponent of transgender procedures. 
President Donald Trump made opposing transgender ideology a key plank of his 2024 platform, a position that proved popular with both Republicans and independents. In January, he signed an executive order slashing federal funding for entities that perform transgender procedures on minors. 
A recent review by the Department of Health and Human Services found that the arguments for transgender procedures on minors were not backed by scientific evidence. 
“The ‘gender-affirming’ model of care includes irreversible endocrine and surgical interventions on minors with no physical pathology,” the review summary <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2025-05/gender-dysphoria-report-exec-summary.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “These interventions carry risk of significant harms including infertility/sterility, sexual dysfunction, impaired bone density accrual, adverse cognitive impacts, cardiovascular disease and metabolic disorders, psychiatric disorders, surgical complications, and regret.”
Over two dozen states, including Texas and Oklahoma, have enacted laws protecting kids from transgender procedures.
“Before they can vote, drive, or get a tattoo, some children are pushed into irreversible gender-transition procedures with no proven long-term health benefit,” Lankford said. “These treatments can cause lasting harm, and taxpayers should not be forced to fund them.”
Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-sen-marshall-urges-gop-to-end-funding-for-trans-surgeries">introduced</a> a similar bill last month that would also defund transgender procedures by amending the IRS code to no longer consider the life-altering procedures as health care.

WASHINGTON—The FBI has nabbed hundreds of child abusers in a coordinated enforcement to protect children in Texas, The Daily Wire has learned.
Agents held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to announce the results of Operation Soteria Shield, a coordinated Crimes Against Children enforcement operation across Texas, the FBI shared with The Daily Wire, including more than 70 local, state, and federal partners.
Over 100 children were rescued during the enforcement operation, 244 offenders were arrested by authorities, and 368 total charges were filed, both federal and state. The operation — which was jointly managed by the FBI Dallas Division, Dallas Police Department, Plano Police Department, Wylie Police Department, and Garland Police Department — also involved 165 search warrants and the seizure of 1,130 digital devices, an FBI spokesman shared.
“FBI leadership has made it crystal clear: If you harm children in America, there will be no place for you to hide,&#8221; FBI spokesman Ben Williamson told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The FBI will spare no effort to pursue you, find you, and bring you to justice.&#8221;
&#8220;We are proud of our Dallas teams and local partnerships in the region for once again delivering a successful operation and making American neighborhoods safer,&#8221; Williamson added.
This marks the tenth year that Operation Soteria Shield has been conducted in April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
<a href="https://www.fox4news.com/news/more-than-100-children-rescued-month-long-north-texas-operation">According to Fox4Dallas</a>, this year&#8217;s operation included 124 cyber tip cases, 73 chat-based undercover operations, 30 responses to calls for service that were direct leads to child rescues, and 23 high-risk victim rescues.
“Operation Soteria Shield brought together over 70 agencies from across the state of Texas, including police departments, federal agencies, state and federal prosecutors, children’s advocacy centers, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children,&#8221; FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Joseph Rothrock explained. &#8220;We had a common goal, which was to rescue children from abuse and exploitation.&#8221;
&#8220;This was not an easy operation, but a necessary one,&#8221; he added. &#8220;The FBI and our law enforcement partners will continue to protect the children in our communities and we will hold child predators accountable for their crimes.”
The FBI also said Tuesday in a release that in addition to their law enforcement actions, investigators &#8220;seized extensive volumes of digital evidence, including terabytes of illicit data stored on electronic devices that were used in the commission of these crimes.&#8221; Those devices are reportedly undergoing forensic analysis and &#8220;may lead to further arrests and the identification of additional victims.&#8221;

On Monday, leftist billionaire George Soros, who has spent millions attempting to turn the conservative bastion of Texas blue, will launch a new initiative called “Blue Texas” as part of the efforts of Texas Majority PAC.
Blue Texas is aiming to recruit candidates and volunteers in conjunction with Texas’ state and county Democratic parties. “If a win is on the table in 2026, we don’t want to leave it there by not being organized,” Katherine Fischer, deputy executive director of Texas Majority PAC, declared. “There is no choice for Texas or for anyone else in the country who wants to see a Democrat in the White House after 2032 but to find a pathway through Texas.”
“Soros, the billionaire investor and philanthropist, <a href="https://archive.is/o/GN1E7/https:/www.wsj.com/us-news/elon-musk-texas-da-jose-garza-oust-atempt-206db043">has devoted millions</a> to turning Texas blue in the past and donated $2.1 million to Texas Majority in 2024 and $1 million in April, records show,” The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/group-backed-by-george-soros-to-plow-millions-into-turning-texas-blue-4dfa75bf">noted</a>. “Texas Majority, the Texas Democratic Party and the nearly dozen county parties under the Blue Texas alliance collectively spent about $35 million in the 2024 election cycle.” Organizers expect to raise even more money for 2026.
In the 2024 presidential election, President Trump crushed former Vice President Kamala Harris in Texas by almost 14 percentage points. The last Democrat president to win the state was Jimmy Carter in 1976; the last Democratic U.S. Senator from Texas was Lloyd Bentsen in 1988.
One possible target for Democrats is GOP Senator John Cornyn’s seat; he is being challenged in the GOP primary by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Polls show Democrat Colin Allred, who ran far better against GOP senator Ted Cruz than Harris did against Trump, is competitive with Paxton in a general election.
In 2022, Soros <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/george-soros-drops-50m-donation-dem-pac-doubling-midterm-spending">donated $50 million</a> to an American leftist PAC shortly after the November 2022 elections. Soros donated the funds to Democracy PAC, whose president was his son, Alexander, a source who examined the PAC’s new Federal Elections Commission filing reported to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/07/george-soros-midterm-super-pac-00072797">POLITICO</a>. That was in addition to the $125 million he gave the group in January 2022.
Soros invested tens of millions of dollars into getting progressive district attorneys elected in 75 cities across the United States, analysts with the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) reported.

By late 2022, Soros had invested about $40 million over the past decade to elect dozens of progressive prosecutors, including many in the most populated U.S. cities. Soros-backed prosecutors represented one-fifth of all Americans, and they held office in half of the top 50 most populated U.S. cities and counties.
“Soros is using that campaign money and the hundreds of millions more for supporting organizations to quietly transform the criminal justice system for the worse, promoting dangerous policies and anti-police narratives to advance his radical agenda,” LELDF President Jason Johnson told <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/washington-secrets/report-soros-spent-40-million-to-elect-75-social-justice-prosecutors">The Washington Examiner</a>, the first to publish the analysis.
“Over the past decade, George Soros has spent $40 million to elect 75 of his chosen prosecutors. In campaigns from Houston and Los Angeles to Philadelphia and Orlando, Soros was the campaign&#8217;s biggest spender by far — as much as 90% of the dollars spent in some races. Soros isn&#8217;t done yet — he&#8217;s already spent another million so far this year on his hand-picked district attorneys,” Johnson said.

Dems Backed By Soros Launch Huge New Initiative To Turn Texas Blue

Overall, 2025 has been a blockbuster year for election integrity. Conservative states across the country advanced popular measures ending the late receipt of mail ballots and banning foreign interference in state elections.
But in one of the most conservative states in America, it was a vastly different story. Texas lawmakers started the year strong, with the Republican-led Senate passing a series of significant bills. But in the House, Democrats conspired to kill one reform after the other. History should record 2025 as the year Democrats sided with progressive activists and foreign-funded special interests against everyday Texans who just believe that it should be easy to vote and hard to cheat.
First on the Democrats’ chopping block was <a href="https://legiscan.com/TX/bill/SB16/2025">SB16,</a> a commonsense bill requiring proof of citizenship before anyone can register and vote. Americans overwhelmingly <a href="https://www.honestelections.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/April-polling-memo_ALEC49163789-1.pdf">oppose</a> noncitizen voting, and last year a University of Houston <a href="https://uh.edu/news-events/stories/2024/october/10222024-hobby-election-integrity.php">survey</a> found that just 56% of Texas voters believed noncitizens would be adequately prevented from voting. SB16 was intended to give the state new tools to do just that. Had it passed, Texas would be the gold standard for ensuring that only citizens can vote.
Texas Democrats obviously feel differently, but don’t expect them to admit it. Instead, they will hide behind the handful of liberal lawmakers who broke ranks and voted to put a constitutional ban on noncitizen voting on the ballot. But it is highly cynical to ban noncitizen voting and then block the tools officials need to effectively and efficiently enforce it. What do Texas Democrats have to fear from verifying that only American citizens are voting in American elections? The public deserves to know.
Next on the Democrats’ hit list: A bill to ban foreign interference in Texas elections. <a href="https://legiscan.com/TX/bill/SB2035/2025">SB2035</a> would have protected state constitutional amendments and other ballot measures from the influence of foreign nationals. The measure passed overwhelmingly in the Senate, but House Democrats killed the bill with a procedural motion in the dead of night.
They may regret that move in the light of day. Americans overwhelmingly <a href="https://hepaction.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/HEPA_OH_December_2023_Topline_Report.pdf">oppose</a> foreign interference, and seven states have passed similar bans this year alone. All these states are reacting to a growing problem. It is illegal for foreign nationals to contribute to any candidate running for political office. But a loophole allows these same foreign interests to finance highly impactful ballot measure campaigns. Just one example: Hansjörg Wyss, a Swiss billionaire, has poured almost <a href="https://americansforpublictrust.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Sixteen-Thirty-Fund-Spending-on-Ballot-Issue-Campaigns.pdf">$300 million</a> into a far-Left, D.C.-based dark money group called the <a href="https://americansforpublictrust.org/document/apt-report-foreign-backed-spending-in-state-ballot-issue-campaigns/">Sixteen Thirty Fund</a>. In turn, they have dumped $130 million in foreign-tied funds into ballot measures advancing progressive causes in 26 states.
The Texas legislature was close to closing that foreign funding loophole once and for all, until Democrats sided with foreign billionaires and fought to keep their foreign dark money flowing.
Democrats in the Lone Star State also killed <a href="https://legiscan.com/TX/bill/SB310/2025">SB310</a>, a bill to definitively ban ranked-choice voting. Ranked-choice voting is a confusing, complex system that has been rejected across the country. It leads to voter confusion, disenfranchisement, and head-scratching outcomes that see losers transformed into winners. In Alaska’s first ranked-choice election, for example, a Democrat was declared the winner of a race for the U.S. House even though Republican candidates won roughly <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/09/01/peltola-palin-ranked-choice-voting-alaska/">60%</a> of the vote. Results like this explain why liberal organizations and their billionaire donors are <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/ranked-choice-voting-ballot-measures-election-863d52ff">spending</a> tens of millions of dollars across the country to sell the public on ranked-choice voting.
Ranked-choice voting’s impact on elections is so corrosive and unpopular that 17 states have taken the extraordinary step of banning it, including six states this year alone. Six more states rejected ranked-choice voting ballot measures last year by wide, bipartisan margins. But not Texas, thanks to another late-night procedural maneuver from the Left.
Three times in one year, Texas Democrats put partisan politics ahead of integrity and trust in elections. Thanks to their stonewalling, Texas is falling behind other states that made election integrity a priority. Unless Governor Abbott calls a special session, lawmakers won’t have another chance to beef up the security of Texas elections until 2027.
By then, another presidential election will be looming and the stakes will be that much higher. There will be no excuses—not even Democrats’ intransigence—for failing to get commonsense measures like foreign funding bans across the finish line.
This year, Democrats stood with foreign billionaires and defended noncitizen voting. Texans, and all Americans, deserve to know why.

A pro-Israel conference hosted by Christians was forced to cancel at the last minute after credible terror threats were directed towards the venue in Texas.
The Israel Summit, organized by the pro-Israel nonprofit HaYovel and The Israel Guys podcast, was expected to draw more than 1,000 attendees from June 9 to 11. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Dallas, but organizers switched venues due to “heightened threat levels and an overwhelming security burden estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.&#8221;
The new venue outside Dallas initially agreed to host the event and implement necessary security protocols, but backed out after facing direct and indirect threats from American pro-Hamas and jihadist groups that called for targeting the private conference, according to organizers, who were reportedly working with the sheriff’s department, Texas state Rangers, and the FBI.
Now, the summit&#8217;s organizers are questioning whether it&#8217;s even possible to safely host pro-Israel events in the United States.
“This isn’t just about our event being shut down — it’s part of an alarming trend that’s escalating,” <a href="https://theisraelguys.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Israel Guys</a> host Joshua Waller told The Daily Wire. “The threats against our Summit were direct, coordinated, and credible. When over 1,000 people can’t safely gather in Texas to stand with Israel, something is deeply wrong.&#8221;
Waller cited the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-republicans-condemn-evil-murder-of-israeli-embassy-staffers-antisemitic-terrorism?author=Kassy+Akiva&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=9&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=House+Republicans+Condemn+%E2%80%98Evil%E2%80%99+Murder+Of+Israeli+Embassy+Staffers%3A+%E2%80%98Antisemitic+Terrorism%E2%80%99" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recent murder</a> of two Israeli embassy staffers, Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, who were attacked while leaving a pro-Israel event in Washington, D.C., as well as a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/terror-in-colorado-pro-israel-demonstrators-attacked-in-firebombing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">firebomb attack</a> in Boulder, Colorado, where a man threw Molotov cocktails at participants in a walk raising awareness for the 56 hostages still held in Gaza, injuring 15 people.

“This should be a wake-up call for every American who still believes in truth, freedom, and the biblical mandate to stand with and support Israel,” Waller added.
Scheduled speakers included former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Israeli Knesset members, former members of Congress, media figures, rabbis, and survivors of the October 7 Hamas massacre. Some speakers only learned the event had been canceled after landing in the United States from Israel.

The event was planned to be “a bold and timely declaration of solidarity with Israel.”
Canceling &#8220;was not a decision made lightly,&#8221; the organizers said. “While the desire to stand with Israel was overwhelming, so were the threats. Every option was explored — yet ultimately, no safe path forward remained, a reality organizers never imagined possible in the United States.”
Last year, personal finance expert Dave Ramsey rescued The Israel Summit from cancellation after a Nashville hotel backed out from hosting because of alleged threats by anti-Israel activists. Ramsey hosted the event at the headquarters of Ramsey Solutions and helped the conference have a larger attendance.
“Dave Ramsey reached out and said, ‘You’re going to have it at my place and we’re going to take this event to a whole new level and make it 10x what it was before,’” Waller told The Daily Wire at the time. “All of the details have come together, and the event is skyrocketing in numbers.”
Despite the issues with last year’s conference, the Israel Summit organizers said they were caught off guard but hope to reschedule in the future.
“We are not backing down,” they said. “Plans are already underway to take the Summit to a new level — bigger and bolder than ever.&#8221;

The Israel Summit bills itself as the first gathering of pro-Israel supporters who “unconditionally support Israel’s right to be sovereign in the entirety of the land of Israel, including Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the Gaza Strip.”
HaYovel, which Waller&#8217;s family started over 20 years ago, brings Christians to volunteer at farms in Judea and Samaria. The group <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-american-cowboys-who-rushed-to-israel-to-fill-in-for-farmers-called-up-to-fight-hamas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">went viral</a> after Hamas’s brutal October 7 attack for bringing a group of American cowboys to help Israelis in need of labor as foreign agricultural workers fled and men were called up to fight in the war.

A Texas program offering in-state tuition to illegal immigrants ended Wednesday after the Trump administration sued the state saying that the initiative violated federal law. 
The suit from the Justice Department challenged Texas law that allowed illegal immigrants to be eligible for in-state tuition while denying the same opportunities for American citizens. The challenge was resolved the same day after a federal judge approved a joint motion from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Justice Department to rule the law unconstitutional.
“Today, I entered a joint motion along with the Trump Administration opposing a law that unconstitutionally and unlawfully gave benefits to illegal aliens that were not available to American citizens,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Ending this discriminatory and un-American provision is a major victory for Texas.”
The <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/Joint%20Motion%20for%20Entry%20of%20Consent%20Judgment.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joint motion</a> asked the judge to rule that the tuition provision of Texas law applying to illegal immigrants violated the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause and issue a permanent injunction blocking application of the law.
“In direct and express conflict with federal law, Texas education law specifically allows an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States to qualify for in-state tuition based on residence within the state, while explicitly denying resident-based tuition rates to U.S. citizens that do not qualify as Texas residents,” Paxton and the DOJ wrote in their motion.

Judge Reed O’Connor of the Northern District of Texas <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/In%20State%20Tuition%20Final%20Judgment.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed off</a> on the motion just hours after it was filed, granting a permanent injunction against the provision.
“In-state tuition for illegal immigrants in Texas has ended,” Governor Greg Abbott said. “Texas is permanently enjoined from providing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.”
The provision giving illegal immigrants access to in-state tuition was <a href="https://lrl.texas.gov/legis/billsearch/actions.cfm?legSession=77-0&amp;billtypeDetail=HB&amp;billNumberDetail=1403&amp;billSuffixDetail=">first passed</a> back in 2001 and signed by then-Governor Rick Perry.
In an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/protecting-american-communities-from-criminal-aliens/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> signed in March, President Donald Trump instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to “identify and take appropriate action to stop the enforcement of State and local laws, regulations, policies, and practices favoring aliens over any groups of American citizens that are unlawful, preempted by Federal law, or otherwise unenforceable, including State laws that provide in-State higher education tuition to aliens but not to out-of-State American citizens.”

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) introduced new legislation on Wednesday that would target companies that employ illegal aliens and enhance the government’s ability to track down illegal employees.
The Congressman’s New Illegal Deduction Elimination Act, called the “New IDEA Act,” seeks to remove the financial incentives that encourage illegal aliens to come to the United States and allow them to stay.
It would penalize companies that hire illegal aliens, require the IRS and Social Security Administration to share data with the Department of Homeland Security, and encourage the use of employment verification tools used to prevent illegal aliens from taking American jobs.
“It’s time to dismantle the jobs magnet driving illegal immigration and ensure that unscrupulous employers do not benefit from hiring illegal aliens over American citizens. We shouldn’t be doling out American jobs to illegal aliens from foreign nations,” Gill told The Daily Wire. “My legislation promotes a thriving economy and encourages E-verify use so law-abiding Americans can make an honest living, earn benefits, and run successful businesses that serve their communities.”

If passed, the legislation would prevent employers from deducting wages and benefits paid to illegal aliens, effectively penalizing those who choose to employ illegal aliens instead of American citizens.

Gill’s bill also encourages companies to use E-Verify, a free platform from the Department of Homeland Security that employers use to authenticate the legal status of potential employees. Companies that use E-Verify and receive confirmation of the legal status of employees would be able to deduct the wages and benefits paid to those employees, providing an incentive for business owners to use the DHS service.

Voice actor Jonathan Joss, best known for portraying the voice of John Redcorn on the long-running animated comedy “King of the Hill,” died from a fatal gunshot wound in San Antonio on Sunday night. He was 59 at the time of his death.
According to early reports, Joss died after getting into a fight with his neighbor, who allegedly then pulled out a gun and shot him several times, per <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2025/06/02/king-of-the-hill-jonathan-joss-dead-shot-san-antonio-texas-voice-actor/">TMZ</a>. The gunman is then reported to have gotten into a vehicle and fled the scene.
San Antonio police confirmed that the suspect was captured a block from the scene of the accident. Officers detained 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam, who has been booked for murder. The investigation is ongoing.
The paramedics responded and tried to revive Joss, but they were ultimately unsuccessful, the outlet noted.

The actor’s death occurred just two days after he attended the 2025 ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, with other “King of the Hill” cast members. Joss last shared an Instagram post of himself walking around Austin and noting how the show’s “reboot is up and moving,” as People <a href="https://people.com/king-of-the-hill-voice-actor-jonathan-joss-dies-at-59-after-being-fatally-shot-police-11746467">noted</a>.
Joss took over for the original actor, Victor Arron, for season 3 of the series after Arron died in a car accident in 1996.
The “King of the Hill” reboot is slated to premiere on Hulu in August and had already started recording, the outlet noted.
Joss also appeared in other popular shows such as “Parks and Recreation,” “Tulsa King,” “Ray Donovan,” “True Grit,” “The Magnificent Seven,” and others.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott says the state has put an end to all construction of EPIC City, a massive development planned outside Dallas that was intended to be exclusively for Muslims and where sharia law was expected to be imposed on residents when it came to fruition.
“Texas has halted any construction of EPIC City,” Abbott declared on Sunday on X. “There is no construction taking place. The state of Texas has launched about a half dozen investigations into this project. That includes criminal investigations. And, the US Department of justice is also investigating. This matter, and similar matters, are taken very seriously, and actions are being taken to address all concerns.”

His statements came days after news that the Trump administration&#8217;s Department of Justice had launched an investigation into the project. Last month, Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R) <a href="https://www.fox4news.com/news/cornyn-federal-investigation-epic-city-paxton-state-investigation">called on the administration</a> to carry out the probe, <a href="https://www.cornyn.senate.gov/news/cornyn-calls-on-doj-to-investigate-epic-city-following-accusations-of-religious-discrimination-sharia-law/">saying</a> it was a discriminatory &#8220;religious settlement where Islamic principles govern not only daily life and education, but commerce.&#8221;
&#8220;A master-planned &#8216;community of thousands of Muslims&#8217; could violate the constitutional rights of Jewish and Christian Texans, by preventing them from living in this new community and discriminating against them within the community,&#8221; Cornyn said. &#8220;I further encourage the Department to investigate whether Christians, Jews, and other non-Muslim minorities would receive equal protection under the law in this new community. Religious-based discrimination, whether explicit or implicit, is unconstitutional under the First and Fourteenth Amendments.&#8221;
The same day, Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxton announced he was investigating communications between the East Plano Islamic Center — around which EPIC City was to be built — and officials in the Texas towns of Plano, Richardson, and Wylie.
“If any local official is supporting or communicating with a real estate development that is under investigation for potential violations of state law, then it’s imperative that we are made aware of exactly what’s being communicated,” Paxton said. “We will thoroughly review these documents as part of our ongoing investigation into EPIC City and work to hold accountable anyone who breaks Texas law.”
The news of the Muslim development comes as similar projects have made headlines in Texas. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/colony-ridge">Colony Ridge</a>, a massive development outside of Houston, has become a breeding ground for crime due to an influx of illegal immigrants who have flocked to it. It is similarly under federal investigation and has been targeted by Texas officials, most recently with raids on illegal immigrants carried out in coordination with the federal government.
Abbott says the Islamic center is being investigated by a dozen state agencies, including whether or not its planned practice of refusing to sell or rent housing based on religion would break state law, according to the <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/investigations/3408146/greg-abbott-halts-contruction-epic-city-muslim-community-texas-doj-investigation/">Washington Examiner</a>.

Illegal aliens cost Texas hospitals more than $100 million in just a single month, brand new data from the Lone Star State shows.
Texas hospitals are on the hook for a $121.8 million bill incurred by illegal aliens across 31,000 visits in November 2024 alone, according to data collected by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (THHSC).
The findings came after Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed an order directing THHSC to collect and provide quarterly data on the cost of illegal aliens to the state’s hospitals and the number of visits from illegal aliens. The first full year of data from THHSCC will be released in January 2026.
“Many of these illegal immigrants are straining the Texas hospital system, which is why <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/category/person/greg-abbott">Governor Abbott</a> directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to begin assessing the cost of care,” Abbott Press Secretary Andrew Mahaleris <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-hospitals-hit-122-million-bill-illegal-immigrants-care-single-month">explained</a>.
&#8220;Now, Texas has reliable data on the dramatic financial impact that illegal immigration is having on our hospital system,” Mahaleris noted, also adding that President Donald Trump’s deportation operations “may also cause these healthcare costs to decline.”
The Texas Legislature is currently <a href="https://www.fox26houston.com/news/texas-hospitals-migrants-illegal-costs-nov-2024">considering legislation</a> that would turn Abbott&#8217;s order into a state law requiring hospitals to provide the data to the THHSCC.
One <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigration-costs-hospitals-billions-in-unpaid-bills-house-gop-report-finds">2023 report</a> from Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee found that illegal aliens similarly burdened the hospital systems of other states with large illegal alien populations. Florida hospitals incurred a $312 million bill because of illegal aliens in fiscal year 2023 and received just over $100 million in reimbursements. A single hospital in the border town of Yuma, Arizona, provided $26 million in uncompensated care to illegal aliens.
That report estimated that Texas hospitals faced anywhere from $597 million to $717 million in uncompensated health care costs for illegal aliens from 2006 to 2008.
One study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/taxpayers-shell-out-151-billion-each-year-due-to-illegal-immigration-analysis-says">estimated</a> that illegal aliens cost the United States a total of $150 billion a year, even when factoring in tax revenue from illegal aliens. The cost of illegal immigration on the United States, FAIR says, has increased by billions of dollars in recent years.

Red states throughout the country are considering employment verification legislation that experts say could be one of the most effective ways to encourage illegal alien self-deportations.
The states are considering bills that would mandate that employers use E-Verify, a system run by the Department of Homeland Security that ensures workers are in the country legally and eligible for employment.
Ira Mehlman, the media director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-one-simple-trick-that-could-lead-illegal-immigrants-to-self-deport?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=23&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=The+One+Simple+Trick+That+Could+Lead+Illegal+Immigrants+To+Self-Deport">told</a> The Daily Wire that E-Verify mandates eliminate the “biggest incentive” for illegal aliens to enter or stay in the United States.
“If employers were mandated to use E-Verify and the government demonstrated the resolve to hold employers accountable, that would go a long way toward drying up the supply of jobs for illegal aliens, thereby eliminating the biggest incentive to come or remain here illegally,” Mehlman explained.
A recent estimate from FAIR found that there are <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-alien-population-surges-to-record-high-bombshell-study-finds">18.6 million illegal aliens</a> currently present in the United States, with experts like Mehlman and Center for Immigration Studies Executive Director Mark Krikorian saying that self-deportations are key to reducing America’s illegal alien population.

Now, states across the country are considering legislation to implement or expand E-Verify mandates. Idaho’s House of Representatives is <a href="https://idahocapitalsun.com/2025/02/14/idaho-legislature-introduces-new-bill-requiring-employers-e-verify-all-new-employees/">considering</a> an E-Verify proposal that would require all businesses in the state to verify the employment status of new employees. Republican Representative Jordan Redman, the sponsor of the legislation, says that the bill “adds to Idaho employment law to prohibit employment of illegal aliens and require employers to use E-Verify for each new hire to verify legal employment status as a condition of their employment.”
The effort has faced opposition from Rep. Stephanie Mickelsen, a Republican from Idaho Falls and a potato farmer, as well as from the Idaho Dairyman’s Association, which cited labor shortage concerns.
Montana is currently <a href="https://legiscan.com/MT/bill/HB226/2025">considering legislation</a> that would require employers to use E-Verify or the I-9 employment verification form and maintain eligibility documentation for workers. Companies that fail to abide by the law could face civil penalties, including fines and even the revocation of business licenses after multiple violations. The bill was sent to the governor after passing through the state House and Senate.
“By leveraging verification systems already in place, we can promote lawful employment practices while protecting the integrity of our labor market,” said Rep. Courtenay Sprunger, the House bill’s sponsor.
The Florida State House <a href="https://floridaphoenix.com/2025/04/23/florida-house-passes-e-verify-measure-but-bill-looks-dead-in-the-senate/">just passed</a> legislation that would expand the state’s current E-Verify laws and require all businesses to use the system. But even though the bill was passed with unanimous support from Republicans and garnered support from seven Democrats, the corresponding effort hasn’t gained any traction in the Senate and has not been assigned to a committee.
Texas is also considering legislation to expand its existing E-Verify mandate, which currently only applies to government workers. The <a href="https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=89R&amp;Bill=SB324">new legislation</a> would require all employers in the state to use E-Verify, which Sen. Lois Kolkhurst <a href="https://texasscorecard.com/state/senate-committee-advances-legislation-requiring-use-of-e-verify/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> “the most functional and cost-effective method the state of Texas can implement to stem the flow of illegal immigration.”
The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) has <a href="https://americafirstpolicy.com/issues/ensuring-a-legal-workforce-in-texas">endorsed</a> the Texas bill, asserting that it could help unemployed Americans in the Lone Star state get back into the workforce while disincentivizing illegal immigration. “The largest pull factor for illegal aliens is the ability to make money in the U.S.,” AFPI explained. “Mandatory use of E-Verify would significantly reduce the ability of illegal aliens to work, and over time, this action will help reduce the pull factor of employment for those who enter the country unlawfully.”
