An illegal immigrant gang member on the run for allegedly killing a man in California went on to kill a woman in Texas before Immigration and Customs Enforcement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-wants-brandon-johnson-jb-pritzker-jailed-for-failing-to-protect-ice-officers">agents</a> were able to apprehend him, The Daily Wire has learned.
Cambodian citizen Savin Seng, 41, is wanted in California for allegedly murdering 20-year-old Gabriel Isiguzo outside a North Hills strip club in 2022, according to ICE. Authorities said the killing was “unprovoked,” while <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/help-needed-capture-gunman-allegedly-killed-man-north-hills-strip-club-unprovoked-shooting/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> at the time suggested the shooting stemmed from an argument over a handicapped spot outside the club.
Seng then went on to allegedly kill 47-year-old Charminy Lewis in Victoria, Texas, on Friday, authorities <a href="https://www.facebook.com/VCSOTexas/posts/wanted-murder-suspect-taken-into-custody-on-friday-october-3-2025-at-approximate/1336578791842323/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. He was later caught by the Victoria County Sheriff’s Department while walking down the highway with a loaded pistol.
Seng, who goes by the moniker “Two-Face,” admitted to authorities that he’s a member of the Asian Boyz gang and said that he desired to return to his home country, <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.txsd.2034990/gov.uscourts.txsd.2034990.1.0_1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to court documents. When asked how he obtained a firearm, Seng told officers “that he wasn’t a snitch” and that the “gun fell from the sky and he picked it up.”
“For the second time in three years, this violent criminal alien gang member has allegedly murdered someone and then attempted to flee from authorities,” Homeland Security Investigations Houston Special Agent in Charge Chad Plantz said in a statement shared with The Daily Wire.
“Within just 36 hours, the law enforcement community in Southeast Texas banded together leveraging our various resources to successfully locate him and safely take him into custody before he could harm anyone else,” Plantz added.
Seng has a lengthy rap sheet in California that includes two convictions for burglary and one conviction each for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and domestic violence, according to court records.
Seng entered the United States legally in 1984, but was ordered deported in April 2016, according to ICE.
ICE previously had him in custody, but wasn’t able to obtain travel documents from the Cambodian government to send him back, federal law enforcement sources told The Daily Wire.

In some immigration cases, ICE is unable to deport illegal immigrants home because their countries refuse to accept their own citizens who are egregious criminals. ICE cannot hold detainees indefinitely and is required to release them after a certain period of time.
In an effort to fix the issue, the <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/06/23/dhs-releases-statement-major-victory-trump-administration-and-american-people" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trump</a> administration has brokered deals with “third countries” to take in foreign deportees.
A third plane of deportees from the U.S. arrived in the small African nation of Eswatini on Monday as part of the effort, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/eswatini-will-receive-11-more-third-country-deportees-us-2025-10-06/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Reuters. The Trump administration is also seeking to deport MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Eswatini, <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kilmar-abrego-garcia-trump-eswatini-deportation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to CBS News.
The Asian Boyz started in Southern California in the 1980s, and many of its early members were teenage immigrants from Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines, <a href="https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1998-sep-20-mn-24877-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Los Angeles Times.

The War Department will deploy roughly 400 soldiers from Texas to Chicago and Portland as the feds face mounting threats from anti-ICE activists.
The latest attack on federal immigration authorities occurred on Saturday morning, when “officers were rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars” in Broadview, Illinois, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin <a href="https://x.com/TriciaOhio/status/1974524869892276682" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on X.

The agents were trapped in and had to exit their car before they encountered one of the drivers who allegedly rammed them and determined that they were “armed with a semi-automatic weapon,” forcing the feds to “fire defensive shots at an unarmed U.S. citizen,” according to McLaughlin.
The armed alleged attacker, who was later <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/10/04/update-dhs-deploys-special-operations-after-multiple-violent-attacks-federal-law" target="_blank" rel="noopener">identified</a> as Marimar Martinez, was the subject of a federal law enforcement intelligence bulletin that circulated last week after she was allegedly “doxing agents and posting online ‘Hey to all my gang let’s f*** those motherf****ers up, don’t let them take anyone.’”
Pritzker said “no officials from the federal government” contacted him “directly to discuss or coordinate” the deployment.
“It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops,” he said.

The Illinois governor also called on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to stop the effort in its tracks.
“I call on Governor Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate. There is no reason a President should send military troops into a sovereign state without their knowledge, consent, or cooperation,” Pritzker wrote.
“The brave men and women who serve in our national guards must not be used as political props. This is a moment where every American must speak up and help stop this madness,” he added.

But Abbott <a href="https://x.com/GregAbbott_TX/status/1975027635295007073" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he’s not going to back down.
“I fully authorized the President to call up 400 members of the Texas National Guard to ensure safety for federal officials. You can either fully enforce protection for federal employees or get out of the way and let Texas Guard do it,” Abbott wrote on X.
“No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard. They defend our country with pride. America must also know that Texas still has thousands of National Guard assisting with the Border security,” he said.
The Trump administration commenced “Operation Midway Blitz” in an effort to nab illegal immigrants roaming the sanctuary state on September 8, resulting in more than 1,000 arrests.
With that, anti-ICE protesters have gathered outside an agency facility in Broadview, where demonstrators have tried to block agents from driving in and out of the facility.
State and local police in riot gear <a href="https://x.com/Garrett_FoxNews/status/1974148610372567329" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> to the protests on Friday, while snipers were <a href="https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1974165474830397860" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stationed</a> on the roof of the ICE facility.

Trump To Send Texas National Guard Troops To Quell Anti-ICE Attacks In Chicago

A Texas Republican said that Democrats are holding the paychecks of millions of military service members “hostage” in order to advance their far-left agenda. 
Congressman Ronny Jackson told The Daily Wire that the Democrats’ opposition to a short-term spending plan backed by Republicans was causing real-world harm to those tasked with protecting America. As the shutdown continues, approximately two million military personnel are expected to continue working without pay — even as members of Congress continue to receive their paychecks. 
“Democrats are shutting down the government and holding our troops’ paychecks hostage, punishing the very men and women who put their lives on the line to protect America,” Jackson said. “It is both ridiculous and unsurprising that Democrats would once again put their radical agenda ahead of ensuring our servicemembers are properly taken care of.”
Jackson’s office highlighted how children in his own district, whose parents work at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita County, Texas, no longer have access to after-school programs. 
“For many families, these programs are essential support while parents serve,” Jackson’s office noted.
“Military personnel on active duty, including reserve component personnel on Federal active duty, will continue to report for duty and carry out assigned duties. This includes duty involving excepted and, to the extent they can be performed without incurring new obligations, non-excepted activities,” the Department of War’s shutdown contingency plan <a href="https://wjla.com/resources/pdf/79d6e679-134e-465a-ade4-dbb99d290dd9-CONTINGENCYPLANGUIDANCEFORCONTINUATIONOFOPERATIONSINTHEABSENCEOFAPPROPRIATIONS.pdf">reads</a>.
At the same time, nearly 400,000 civilian employees of the Department of War who perform “critical national security activities” are also expected to work without pay. Hundreds of thousands of other civilian employees for the department are currently furloughed. 
“The military cannot enter into new contracts or renew existing contracts, needlessly delaying the acquisition of critical capabilities for our warfighters,” Jackson’s office noted. 
Last month, the Republican-led House approved a bill that would have continued government funding for the next fiscal year at the same level as the previous fiscal year. That same bill stalled in the Senate after Democrats demanded around $1.5 trillion in new spending. 
The Trump administration has urged Republicans to take advantage of the shutdown to cut down on wasteful government spending and combat fraud. Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought has been tasked with reviewing the sprawling federal bureaucracy to see where cuts may be possible.

Two Middle Eastern men accused of shooting a Texas youth baseball coach during a pregame prayer were handed immigration status by the Biden administration, The Daily Wire has learned.
Three men opened fire on the Ameripark youth baseball field in Katy, Texas, on Sunday from a nearby pasture, shooting the coach in the shoulder, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/wallercountysheriff/posts/pfbid02gy5JP5GCDkxYyDsSW4cBBuQnzE1mpkoE6cM9QSoCCJh5ERQytnvD7DqFjfXZBscgl?rdid=oLONrjJntJtH19n4#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Waller County Sheriff&#8217;s office. The three suspects — Mahmood Abdelsalam Rababah, 23, Ahmad Mawed, 21, and Mustafa Mohammad Matalgah, 27 — have been charged with deadly conduct and are each being held on $100,000 bond.
Mohammad Matalgah of Jordan was given American citizenship on Aug. 1, 2023, despite having prior arrests for drug possession, the Department of Homeland Security told The Daily Wire. Mawed, a Lebanese immigrant, entered the United States on an IR-2 <a href="https://www.uscis.gov/adoption/bringing-your-internationally-adopted-child-to-the-united-states/before-your-child-immigrates-to-the-united-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">visa</a> — which is given to children of American citizens — on June 3, 2021, automatically granting him a green card.

“This horrific act of terror firing on children praying before the start of a baseball game is pure evil,&#8221; Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. &#8220;These individuals from high threat countries were let in by Biden. They clearly were not vetting the aliens they were letting legally enter our country and even become U.S. citizens.&#8221;
“Not only did Biden fail the American people by leaving our borders wide open to criminals, but he also legally allowed them to gain status and citizenship to terrorize our communities,&#8221; she said.
The motive for the attack is unclear.

The Trump administration has been cracking down on immigrant crime with its mass deportation sweeps across the country. President Donald Trump&#8217;s Department of Justice has also commenced an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-orders-justice-dept-to-denaturalize-new-citizens-convicted-of-crimes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">audit</a> of the legal immigration system with an effort to denaturalize new citizens who may “pose a potential danger to national security.”
The injured coach, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to a nearby hospital and has since been discharged, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1217185030454181&amp;set=a.303691761803517" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the sheriff&#8217;s office.
Dramatic video of the attack showed bullets raining down as the young players ran for cover.
The team&#8217;s founder, Andy Baize, <a href="https://www.khou.com/article/news/local/baseball-coach-shot-katy-texas/285-6992be75-6eee-4938-8506-2ca48ef2e851" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> KHOU that the injured coach took a bullet to protect the children.
&#8220;He literally took the bullet for a child that was to his left and so thankfully we avoided a major disaster, still very very emotional over it,&#8221; said Baize.
&#8220;When he was struck by the bullet, his first reaction was to get down to the ground, cover his kids and get them to a safe space,&#8221; he added.

Middle Eastern Men Accused Of Shooting Baseball Coach During Prayer Were Let In To U.S. Under Biden

On Wednesday morning, a sniper killed an ICE detainee and wounded several others in a shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility.
Bullets found near the shooter&#8217;s body were reportedly engraved with anti-ICE messages.
Kash Patel, the head of the FBI, <a href="https://x.com/FBIDirectorKash/status/1970877754221498599">wrote on X</a>, “While the investigation is ongoing, the initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack. These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off.”
The number one clue that the shooter had a left-wing perspective is that the shooting happened at an ICE facility. This is not the first act of violence at an ICE facility in recent months. In August, there was an ICE facility that was attacked in Yakima, Washington. In July, there were ten suspects who were charged for their July 4 attack in Texas, in which, according to ICE, nearly a dozen violent assailants equipped with tactical gear and weapons attacked a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Prairie Line detention facility in Alvarado, Texas.
There was an attack on ICE officers in Los Angeles that prompted federal intervention by the Trump administration.
This is nothing new, and pretending that it is something new is ridiculous. As acting ICE director Todd Lyons <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/ice-acting-director-says-assaults-on-agents-up-1000-as-dallas-facility-targeted-in-shooting-never-seen-anything-like-this/">said</a>, “I&#8217;ve never seen anything like this in my law enforcement career. I&#8217;ve never seen threats on law enforcement, specifically ICE, increase the way it is. You know, we&#8217;re up over 1,000% assaults on officers right now. And really just a lot of the talk that&#8217;s out there, a lot of the rhetoric, is just the violence directed towards law enforcement officers just trying to do their job. And we just keep it seeing an increase step by step.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that the shooting was an attempted assassination of ICE officers. It was his belief that the ICE detainees were hit accidentally, that the sniper was not trying to hit the detainees, but was trying to fire at law enforcement.

Meanwhile, NPR host Maria Hinojosa <a href="https://x.com/TimJGraham/status/1970964318981169286">compared ICE</a> to the Nazis, saying, “Black and Latino unity and the city of Chicago will only grow thanks to Donald Trump and his Republican Party. So that is something that he and his Republican Party has feared, that unity of black and brown people coming together. Chicago is a city of neighborhoods, and we do not like outsiders coming to tell us how to run our city. &#8230; I posted, actually, right after that first day on the ground in Chicago; I posted about the fact that there are little Anne Franks, right? &#8230; little girls and boys who are afraid to come out of their homes.”
This sort of rhetoric could very likely lead to violence, because when you say that Anne Frank is hiding, that makes ICE the Nazis.
Last week, Rep. Jasmine Crockett compared ICE to slave patrols.
When you keep saying that ICE agents are Nazis, that ICE agents are slave patrols, people might get the idea that maybe you should do violence to members of ICE. That’s not a huge leap.
I&#8217;m not saying Jasmine Crockett is responsible for somebody shooting an ICE agent, any more than I&#8217;m saying that Barack Obama&#8217;s anti-police rhetoric led to the shooting of Dallas police officers.
But — if you keep ratcheting up the temperature, if you keep treating people in law enforcement as though they are enemies of the people, as though they are doing the bidding of dark Nazi gods or something of that ilk, people at the fringes are going to do acts of violence.
The night before the shooting happened, Gavin Newsom was on Stephen Colbert&#8217;s terrible show, which is still on the air like a zombie, walking beyond its own brain death.

I&#8217;m deeply proud that I had the privilege of signing the nation&#8217;s first bill, to address the issue of masking, also to require you have simple identification. &#8230; I mean, if some guy jumped out of an unmarked car in a van with a mask on, tried to grab me, I mean, by definition, you&#8217;re going to push back. And so these are not just authoritarian tendencies. These are authoritarian actions by an authoritarian government.</blockquote>
If you keep saying these sorts of things over and over and over again, it should not be a gigantic shock when people commit acts of violence.
The Left has increasingly been committing acts of violence because the rhetoric is so unhinged. 
One of the major problems in the country right now, as polling data shows, is that Americans believe that their neighbors are their enemies. Much of that is self-reinforcing and self-perpetuating. If your neighbor says you are their enemy and then you respond, “If he thinks I&#8217;m his enemy, then he&#8217;s my enemy,” you end up with a cycle of partisan polarization that is unbridgeable. 
Once it becomes unbridgeable, you are effectuating higher levels of hatred and violence. That is a real scenario in the United States.
It&#8217;s not equally positioned. For my entire lifetime, the political Left in this country has basically treated the Right as though the Right were some form of Nazi offshoot.
If you look at the polling data, you will see that things didn&#8217;t shift for Republicans starting to react to that attitude until roughly 2013-14. Thus, for a solid decade and a half, from the time George W. Bush became president, there was a move by the Left to demonize Republicans as the “Other,” as though there was something wrong with them. Democrats didn&#8217;t just think that their neighbors were wrong; they thought they were morally bad, while Republicans tended to think that their neighbors were wrong, but not morally bad.
All of that started to shift around the second term of Barack Obama.
Now both sides think the other side is morally bad, and it&#8217;s pushing both parties out to fringe rhetoric — but the Left has been there for a long time. It&#8217;s systemically integrated into their worldviews.
This is why I&#8217;ve been talking about the permission structures for violence that are generating violence, generating things like the assassination of my friend Charlie Kirk.
When you&#8217;re creating permission structures, when you create a mental model whereby speech is violence, that people who oppose you are actually actors of deep, malicious evil who must be destroyed at any cost, you’re going to get higher levels of violence, which will generate a reaction on the other side.
And that could tear this country, the greatest nation ever created, apart.

The sniper who opened fire on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas Wednesday morning intended to kill immigration agents, not detainees, federal authorities <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2XS6OOwi-o" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Thursday.

Larson said during a press conference Thursday.
Jahn also left notes that said ICE agents are merely working “to collect a dirty paycheck” and he “intended to maximize lethality against” them and “to maximize property damage at the facility,” while hoping “to minimize any collateral damage or injury to the detainees and any other innocent people,” Larson said.

“It seems that he did not intend to kill the detainees or harm them. It&#8217;s clear from these notes that he was targeting ICE agents and ICE personnel. The tragic irony&#8230; is that it was a detainee who was killed and two other detainees that were injured when he fired into the sallyport,” Larson said.
FBI Director Kash Patel earlier revealed that Jahn allegedly left <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ice-facility-shooter-left-bullet-casings-reading-anti-ice-at-attack-scene?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=ICE+Facility+Shooter+Left+Bullet+Casings+Reading+%E2%80%98ANTI-ICE%E2%80%99+At+Attack+Scene">bullet</a> casings engraved with the phrase “ANTI-ICE” on them, revealing the “ideological motive” behind the attack.
Patel also noted that the FBI found that Jahn “conducted multiple searches of ballistics and the ‘Charlie Kirk Shot Video&#8217;” in the days leading up to the shooting. The shooter used applications created to track ICE agents’ whereabouts and downloaded a list of Department of Homeland Security facilities before the attack, Patel said.
Jahn had planned the attack for “months,” Joseph Rothrock, the FBI Special Agent in Charge for Dallas, said Thursday.
ICE officers under fire worked to offload the injured detainees from agency vans as Jahn was firing, Marcos Charles, acting executive associate director for ICE’s enforcement and removal operations, said during Thursday’s presser.
“The evidence is clear that this was an intended assault on ICE personnel who come to work every day to do their job,” Charles said.
“Those ICE officers just showed the world who they really are: law enforcement officers who want the best for our country, that&#8217;s ICE integrity, courage, excellence. They were willing to put their lives on the line to pull detainees out of the transport van to get them to safety. They are heroes, and I hope the media has the integrity to shine a light on this story. Enough is enough with the harmful lies and rhetoric, and it has to stop,” he added.

‘Tragic Irony’: Federal Officials Say Dallas Shooter Wanted To Kill ICE Agents, Not Detainees

What could have been an unspeakable tragedy unfolded at a youth baseball tournament in Katy, Texas, when gunfire ripped across a field crowded with children. A coach was struck in the shoulder during a pre-game prayer, and three men have since been arrested.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Mahmood Abdelsalam Rababah, 23, Ahmad Mawed, 21, and Mustafa Mohammad Matalgah, 27, were charged with felony deadly conduct with a firearm after being accused of firing multiple rounds from a nearby pasture in the direction of children. A judge set bond at $100,000 for each of them.
The shooting happened at The Rac Katy. According to law enforcement, the three suspects were engaged in so-called “recreational shooting” about 600 to 700 yards away from the ballfield. One of their stray rounds struck a 27-year-old coach as he led a pre-game prayer with the young players.
Witnesses describe chaos as gunshots echoed across the complex. Houston Warriors founder Andy Baize said the coach shielded a child and then immediately helped lead players to safety, even while wounded. “He literally took the bullet for a child that was to his left,” Baize <a href="https://www.khou.com/article/news/crime/3-men-arrested-katy-texas-baseball-coach-shot/285-aabc16d9-6cd5-4482-b35f-7e2a9c213c9e">told</a> KHOU 11, adding, “When he was struck by the bullet, his first reaction was to get down to the ground, cover his kids and get them to a safe space.”

Emergency responders airlifted the coach to a hospital, where he was treated and later released. A bystander used a belt to stop the bleeding before paramedics arrived.
The incident was so intense that bullets reportedly struck a nearby light pole, and a livestream of the game captured coaches, umpires, and players sprinting for cover. Alex Smith and Corbin Geisendorff, coaches for the Texas Colts 12U team, said they had heard gunfire the previous day but thought it was distant. On Sunday, the shooting was unmistakably close.
“There were bullets flying everywhere … onto the field, off the poles,” Geisendorff <a href="https://abc13.com/amp/post/coach-injured-shooting-during-katy-baseball-game-rac-ems-says/17862158/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">said</a>. “We’ll never be back there.”
“It’s terrible. I’m going to try to not get emotional, but I’ll never forget their little faces during that moment. It’s scary to realize how close the kids were,” Smith said. “Our team was about to take the field. Our kids were out, ready to go. And them shots started being let go. They ducked down, got in line, and they trusted us, thankfully, and we got them to their parents. &#8230; I just want to make sure they’re okay and their families are okay and we just stay together. That’s the ultimate goal.”

Baize said the injured coach’s first words after surgery were: “I need to leave because I have to go coach my kids at 3 p.m.” The coach’s dedication, he added, underscores the gravity of what these children experienced — and how narrowly they escaped tragedy.
The Rac Katy issued a statement expressing sorrow, halting all games pending an internal and police investigation, and promising to do “everything possible” to prevent such an incident from happening again.

Topline: A shooter opened fire at an ICE facility in Dallas on Wednesday, killing multiple immigrant detainees.
The gunman shot three detainees. Two of them died from their wounds. The shooter then turned the gun on himself and died at the scene.
Photos of the aftermath of the attack showed that bullets struck windows and walls inside the facility, but no law enforcement personnel were injured.
Federal law enforcement sources tell The Daily Wire that authorities believe that the shooter was trying to shoot at ICE officers when he aimed at an unmarked van. That van was holding illegal immigrant detainees who were being walked in for processing.
The shooter: Reports indicate the alleged shooter was 29-year-old Joshua Jahn. While not much is known about his history, authorities say he did give a glimpse into his motive after leaving shell casings behind, one engraved with the words “ANTI-ICE.” The FBI is investigating the targeted shooting, and the agency’s director, Kash Patel, says the casings prove that there was “an ideological motive” behind this attack.
Step back: The fatal shooting comes amid an uptick in left-wing violence targeting law enforcement and conservatives. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke about that during a press conference on Wednesday, where he called for his left-leaning colleagues in Congress to stop fanning the flames of the violence with their rhetoric.
“To every politician who is using rhetoric demonizing ICE and demonizing CBP, stop. To every politician demanding that ICE agents be doxxed and calling for people to go after their families, stop,” said Cruz. “This has very real consequences. Look, in America, we disagree. That&#8217;s fine. That&#8217;s the democratic process. But your political opponents are not Nazis. We need to learn to work together without demonizing each other, without attacking each other.”
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Biden Housing Bailout Sparks Racial Backlash</h2>

Topline: A $10 billion coronavirus-era housing bailout paid Americans&#8217; mortgages and even their HOA dues. But 40% of the funds went to black Americans, due to the program including explicit racial preferences.
Now, some white residents are suing their states, saying the government illegally withheld assistance from them based on their race.
The significance: This is one of the largest race-based government wealth transfers in history. And it happened because it came during the COVID pandemic, when the United States was hemorrhaging billions of dollars.
The program is called the <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/coronavirus/assistance-for-state-local-and-tribal-governments/homeowner-assistance-fund">Homeowner Assistance </a><a href="https://www.ncsha.org/homeowner-assistance-fund/">Fund</a>, and it provided people up to $50,000 to pay housing-related bills. It was passed by Congress and required about half the money to go to homeowners at or below the median income, while the remainder could be allocated to wealthier individuals, with priority given to “socially disadvantaged” homeowners.
“Socially disadvantaged?” Congress didn’t define it, and the program was run separately by each state, which received money after submitting a plan to the federal government. But the Biden administration heavily suggested a definition for the states to include in their plans: “those who have been subjected to racial or ethnic prejudice or cultural bias.”
The “presumption,” the administration said, is that “the following individuals are socially disadvantaged: Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.”
How it played out: In Alabama, 85% of the funds went to black residents. In Georgia, it was 82%. That’s surprising because, just based on the fact that half the money was supposed to be doled out based on income, you should have seen more people of other races. Only about half of Georgians below the median income are black. 
Plaintiffs in a lawsuit say that’s because Georgia deliberately ensured that white people didn’t even know it existed. The state’s plan included texting residents to inform them about this opportunity for $50,000 – but only residents of counties with high minority populations.
The Biden administration was never clear about the criteria, but many states used the definition provided by the Biden administration. Now, Georgia, Missouri, and Oklahoma are being sued by residents for going along with it, despite politicians in those states claiming to oppose DEI.
The lawsuits: In Missouri, the program was administered by a housing commission, where the governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general serve as commissioners. Missouri partnered with the Black Chamber of Commerce to advertise the program, and 44% of the money went to blacks, who make up less than 12% of the population. A spokeswoman for Missouri Republican Governor Mike Kehoe declined to comment on the ongoing litigation but called him “a strong advocate for removing DEI.”
In Oklahoma, plaintiffs include a massage therapist who was forced out of a job by COVID policies and her disabled-veteran husband. They point out that the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency said prominently on its website that “African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, [and] LGBTQ+” residents would get preference.

Topline: President Donald Trump canceled a meeting with Democratic congressional leaders this week to discuss government funding. The president blasted Democrats’ demands as “unserious and ridiculous” as government funding is set to expire at the end of the month.
The deadline to avert a partial government shutdown is September 30, giving lawmakers less than a week. House Republicans have already passed a clean, 7-week funding extension. However, the bill is currently stalled in the Senate. Even though the GOP holds the majority, Republicans need 60 votes, which means they need some Democrat support.
Trump had planned to meet this week with Democratic leaders – Sen. Chuck Schumer and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries – but scrapped the meeting over the Democrats’ demands. The president doubled down on Wednesday, writing on Truth Social that Democratic demands include free healthcare for illegal aliens, half a billion dollars for “Radical Left News Outlets,” leaving “DEAD PEOPLE on Medicaid and Social Security rolls,” and “men playing in women’s sports.” 
What Democrats are saying: Democrats say they won’t back down. Schumer and Jeffries have been on a media blitz this week following the meeting&#8217;s collapse. The main line of attack from Democrats is centered on healthcare.
“Republicans have engaged in an unprecedented assault on the healthcare of the American people throughout this year. The largest cut to Medicaid in American history. Millions of people are going to lose coverage because of what Republicans have done,” said Jeffries during an appearance on <a href="https://youtu.be/CLm2OIhjkUo?t=228">MSNBC</a>.
State of play: According to some reports, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) urged Trump to cancel the meeting. Congressional Republicans thought that Democrats were unserious and that meeting with them would only erode Republicans’ leverage.
Johnson sent the House into recess after it passed its 7-week extension, and he said he won’t recall lawmakers back to DC until after the September 30 deadline. If Democrats don’t agree to a clean bill, there will be a fight over who takes the blame for the shutdown.

Jahn allegedly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ice-facility-shooter-left-bullet-casings-reading-anti-ice-at-attack-scene" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opened</a> fire on the ICE detention center from a nearby rooftop Wednesday morning, killing one illegal immigrant detainee and injuring two others before turning the gun on himself.
While an investigation into the incident is still ongoing, the shooter allegedly left bullet casings engraved with the phrase &#8220;ANTI-ICE&#8221; on them that revealed the &#8220;ideological motive&#8221; behind the attack, FBI Director Kash Patel revealed on X.

The suspect&#8217;s brother, Noah Jahn, told NBC News that he didn&#8217;t think the alleged shooter &#8220;was politically interested&#8221; and described him as &#8220;unique.&#8221;
“He didn’t have strong feelings about ICE as far as I knew,” Noah said.

Joshua grew up in Allen, Texas, and was a Boy Scout when he was younger, Noah told NBC.

Florida Congressman Randy Fine and Texas Rep. Keith Self on Friday introduced legislation that would ensure that Sharia law cannot be implemented anywhere in the United States.
The “No Shari’a Act” would prohibit the application of Sharia “where such application would violate constitutional rights,” according to a copy of the legislation shared with The Daily Wire. Both Fine and Self said that the measure was intended to protect Western culture and ensure that the United States would not be taken over by Islamic radicals. 
“We are not going to become a Muslim nation. There are plenty out there,” Fine told The Daily Wire. “If you want to live under Sharia, return to where you came from, but we’re not interested in you coming here and conquering our country.”
Self said the influence of Shariah was already present in Texas. 
“We cannot have two sets of laws,” he told The Daily Wire. “There is one in the United States. It&#8217;s called the U.S. Constitution and the state laws under states of course, but we cannot have two different civilizations with different laws.”
The issue came to a head in Texas with controversy over the planned EPIC City development outside Dallas that was intended to be a Muslim community. Critics worried that the development would implement Sharia.
The legislation says that the “the Constitution of the United States is and must remain the supreme law of the land, and no foreign law or legal system may be permitted to undermine it” and that “no court shall enforce a judgment, decree, or arbitration decision if it relies, in whole or in part, on Shari’a or any foreign law that violates the constitutional rights of any party.”
Fine referenced the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/muslim-mayor-in-dearborn-michigan-tells-christian-resident-you-are-not-welcome-here">recent confrontation</a> in Dearborn, Michigan, where a Christian resident was told he was not welcome in the city by Muslim Mayor Abdullah Hammoud after he spoke out in opposition to naming a street after Arab American publisher Osama Siblani.
“We do not want to replicate this barbaric Middle Age philosophy in this country, and we need to make that clear, this is not welcome in the United States,” Fine said. “We need to respond to the Islamists saying Christians are not welcome in Dearborn by saying, no, you are not welcome here.”
Self said that Sharia allows for child marriages, husbands to beat their wives, honor killings, and genital mutilation. He said these practices were “not compatible with U.S. law, U.S. Constitution, and our civilization.”

When high school students tried to form a Turning Point USA chapter, the vice president of a local Democratic club in Texas rallied her Facebook group to pressure teachers against sponsoring it.
Nathalie Herpin, a parent and the <a href="https://www.springbranchdems.org/about-us/leadership/">vice president</a> of the Spring Valley Democrats, posted an “urgent request” on Facebook, urging members to block students’ efforts to launch a Turning Point USA chapter at Stratford High School in Houston’s Spring Branch Independent School District.
“Please please please send emails to two teachers who are rumored to have agreed to sponsoring a club that will sow division and hate among our students,” Herpin wrote. “This is dangerous territory, and it would help if those teachers knew that their consideration was not appreciated by the remainder of the student body.”
Herpin then mentioned Denise Bell, the chair of Harris County’s &#8220;Moms for Liberty&#8221; chapter, stating that she was “pushing for Stratford students to start a TurningPoint USA club at the school.&#8221; Herpin referenced a private GroupMe chat, saying Bell had added &#8220;the Gulf Coast Representative of ‘Club America’ which is the Turning Point USA student club name &#8211; but it is absolutely the same organization.”
“Without principal&#8217;s approval, they already decided their first meeting is Friday and already started an instagram page,” she continued. Revealing information from a private GroupMe chat, she named two people — whose names were later redacted — as “the two who are being claimed as sponsors (per the GroupMe).”
Then she launched into an attack on TPUSA, writing:

She followed with an outrageous statement that totally mischaracterized the assassin of Charlie Kirk, framing him as a disgruntled right-winger: “Given the famous founder having recently been murdered by an individual motivated by interpersonal rivalry (Nick Fuentes or Charlie Kirk being the better far-right activist), it is very risky for students to bring that kind of potential inflammatory rivalry into school halls, especially with the rate of school shootings in the united states.”
She then added this:

Texas A&amp;M President Mark Welsh is set to step down on Friday after a wave of criticism over his handling of a controversy that erupted after an English professor was filmed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-texas-am-student-booted-from-lecture-after-objecting-to-professor-pushing-radical-gender-theory?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=6&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=WATCH%3A+Texas+A%26M+Student+Booted+From+Lecture+After+Objecting+To+Professor+Pushing+Radical+Gender+Theory">pushing</a> pro-LGBT talking points during a children&#8217;s literature course and telling a student who opposed her to leave a lecture.
Welsh, a retired four-star U.S. Air Force General who was appointed by former President Barack Obama to be Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force from 2012 to 2016, fired Dr. Melissa McCoul last week, but his actions were not enough to quell some of the outrage over Texas A&amp;M&#8217;s handling of the situation. The university&#8217;s Board of Regents announced on Thursday that Welsh would resign, The New York Times reported.
“President Welsh is a man of honor who has led Texas A&amp;M with selfless dedication,” the university system’s chancellor, Glenn Hegar, said in a statement, adding, “At the same time, we agree that now is the right moment to make a change and to position Texas A&amp;M for continued excellence in the years ahead.”

Slides from the course reviewed by The Daily Wire also showed that the class devoted considerable attention to sex, gender, and “queerness.”
One student confronted the professor over the leftist ideology, pointing to the Trump administration&#8217;s recent actions to crack down on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the government and public universities. McCoul argued that her teachings on gender identity and gender expression were “biologically true,” adding that she did not believe that the student would be able to stop her from teaching those ideas.
“Because I do have the legal and ethical authority [and] professional expertise in this classroom. It’s time for you to leave,” McCoul told the student in a video that Harrison posted on X.

After the student complained about the LGBT themes in the children’s literature course, Welsh acknowledged that the class content &#8220;did not align with any reasonable expectation of standard curriculum for the course.&#8221; Welsh&#8217;s action to change the course content and fire McCoul, however, only came after an intense public pressure campaign, which was led by Harrison. In a phone call with the student after the complaint had been raised, the Texas A&amp;M president said that the student was trying to &#8220;pick a fight&#8221; and defended teaching LGBT content in other courses as long as it was properly shown on course syllabi.
Welsh&#8217;s move to fire McCoul wasn&#8217;t enough for some people, while the decision enraged others.
“This is about trying to tell faculty members not to teach certain topics,” said Leonard Bright, a professor of public service and administration at Texas A&amp;M, according to the Times. “The rules are clear — we are the experts in our classes, and we get to design our courses.”
After McCoul was fired, Harrison told The Daily Wire, “President Welsh is engaged in a cover up and deserves no credit.”
“He spent the past month protecting this professor, berating the student, dismissing concerns that her constitutional rights were violated when she was kicked out of class, attempting to gaslight the student into believing she was the problem, advocating for even more DEI and LGBTQ courses at A&amp;M, and has been engaged in behavior since his actions were exposed,&#8221; Harrison added. &#8220;He should be fired.”
The Republican state lawmaker celebrated in a post on Thursday after it was reported that Welsh was stepping down.
