Elon Musk said during an interview this week that the United States will win the race for artificial intelligence in the near term, but that long-term success over China will come down to which nation has the stronger manufacturing base.
Musk made the remarks during an interview on Sen. Ted Cruz&#8217;s (R-TX) &#8220;Verdict&#8221; podcast with co-host Ben Ferguson when asked about how the technology will change people&#8217;s lives.
&#8220;In 10 years, probably AI could do anything better than a human can cognitively, probably almost, I think, in 10 years, based on the current rate of improvement, AI will be smarter than the smartest human,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There will also be a massive number of robots, so humanoid robots.&#8221;
He claimed that there would be &#8220;tens of billions of robots&#8221; in existence by then that will &#8220;make you anything or provide any service you want for basically next to nothing.&#8221;
Cruz then asked Musk how the United States could win the war for AI dominance against China, saying that he wanted to make sure that if robots turned out to be killing machines in the future that he preferred they be American killer robots instead of Chinese killer robots.
“Well, next few years, I think America is likely to win, then it will be a function of who controls the AI chip fabrication, the factories that make the AI chips, who controls them, if more of them are controlled by China, then China will win,&#8221; Musk said.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk responded after X, the social media platform he owns, faced multiple outages around the world on Monday.
Outage-tracking website DownDetector.com tracked outages beginning just before 5 a.m. ET and lasting until past noon. At 5 a.m. ET, the total number of outage reports was more than 20,000. Another spike in reports occurred around 9 a.m. ET, and reached nearly 40,000. A third prolonged spike in outage reports took place just over an hour later, peaking at just under 30,000 reports and sustaining that number for nearly two hours.
&#8220;First, protests against DOGE. Then, Tesla stores were attacked. Now, X is down. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that this downtime is the result of an attack on X,&#8221; DOGE Designer posted.

Musk responded, saying that he agreed and planned to investigate.
&#8220;There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing,&#8221; he posted.
According to <a href="https://variety.com/2025/digital/global/x-down-for-thousands-of-users-outage-elon-musk-1236333025/">Variety</a>, the reports of outages were not localized to the United States — and users as far away as Europe had reported issues using the site. The initial reports, which spiked around 5 a.m. ET, included just over 10,000 reports from the United Kingdom.
The issues extended to both the mobile app and the web browser version of the site, with just over half of all users reporting that the app was down and just over one-third reporting issues with the browser version.
Users attempting to load the site saw a variety of different issues, from Cloudflare errors to messages that read, &#8220;Posts aren&#8217;t loading right now. Please try again.&#8221;
By 1 p.m. ET, reports of outages on the DownDetector site had dropped off precipitously.
The last widespread X outage occurred in August of 2024.

Texas lawmakers are considering a bill that proponents say will strengthen the state’s power grid, but critics argue will undermine the state and country’s ability to compete on AI.
SB 6 is one of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s legislative priorities for the year. The bill would place additional rules on “large load customers,” or facilities that use 75 megawatts of power or more. Republicans who support the bill say it is necessary to reduce strain on the state’s power grid, which, unlike other states, is contained and operates independently of the U.S. national grid.
If the legislation is enacted, the additional rules could undermine the vision laid out by President Donald Trump for American dominance in AI, critics say. The president recently announced the Stargate Project to kickstart the U.S. effort to lead internationally in AI development.
Stargate is a $500 billion joint venture by top AI and tech companies and the Trump administration. Texas is the first state to receive investment from the project with 10 data centers already under construction in the city of Abilene.
The Trump administration is cutting federal red tape to boost economic growth and accelerate the project. On Thursday, the White House <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/03/president-trumps-deregulation-effort-has-already-saved-families-thousands-of-dollars/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that the administration has saved Americans $180 billion worth of regulations since Trump took office.
Texas is a hotspot for new investment, especially in tech. But Texas runs the risk of blunting the momentum of the Stargate Project, according to Vance Ginn, president of Ginn Economic Consulting. Added regulation, while it will not likely impact Stargate’s partners — tech giants OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle — could box out competition from smaller firms that want to push AI development further, Ginn said.
“It creates a situation of government barriers that we&#8217;re going to have less competition and, therefore — what I would argue — higher priced AI, higher priced technology, higher priced electricity,” Ginn told The Daily Wire. “All this is going to contribute to not as much abundance and prosperity in the future.”
When asked for comment by The Daily Wire, a Trump administration official said, “Anyone standing in the way of the Golden Age of American Energy will regret it.”
The law would require “large load” facilities to have backup generators to switch on in times of severe strain on the grid. It also puts in place a $100,000 screening fee necessary for state approval.
Each facility would have to install a “kill switch” that state regulators could activate remotely to cut power to the site.
“That&#8217;s very command-and-control sort of system that they’re trying to put in place,” Ginn said. “In their mind, this is probably providing safety when, in fact, it&#8217;s reducing private property rights and potentially — well, it will not only potentially — it will influence those businesses directly who may need electricity for their own family and for their own employees.”
Republican lawmakers pushing SB 6 argue that the reforms are needed to keep Texas’ power grid safe and avoid a repeat of Winter Storm Uri, which knocked out power for days and killed hundreds of people across the state in 2021. Since the disaster, lawmakers have been concerned about the reliability of Texas’ energy grid in times of high usage.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is pushing SB 6 and has <a href="https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/texas/2025/01/29/512312/patrick-unveils-top-25-legislative-priorities-for-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">listed</a> it as one of his top legislative priorities for 2025. Despite past reservations he has voiced on the strain that data centers could place on Texas’ energy grid, the lieutenant governor in January <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/top-texas-gop-official-rallies-around-trumps-ai-crypto-plans-amid-states-crucial-investments" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asserted</a> that “there’s no daylight between President Trump and I on this issue.”
In a comment to The Daily Wire, Patrick dismissed Ginn&#8217;s concerns.
&#8220;As we go through the process of passing this bill, we are working with industry and stakeholders,&#8221; Patrick said in a statement. &#8220;Everybody knows Texas leads the nation in many fields, including emerging technologies. This will be no different, and Texas will be #1 for AI, data centers, and cryptocurrency. There is no other state that can even come close to us, and that is our goal.&#8221;
Ginn says that while SB 6 will not disrupt Stargate, it would blunt the White House’s push to make the United States AI dominant in the competition against China.
“I don&#8217;t think that it would make Stargate less effective. I do think it will make the potential for what Stargate could get started, of having more and more businesses come here, I think you could stop that,” Ginn said. “Stargate in general is this big idea that we&#8217;re gonna have a lot more AI and we can bring about more energy and then there&#8217;s these small modular reactors that a lot of these firms can use. But if there&#8217;s gonna be all this regulation and high cost, that could stifle a lot of that innovation and employment and economic activity in the future.”

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro announced that he’ll be taking a fresh approach with a new ad partner in 2025. Instead of traditional ad reads, “The Ben Shapiro Show,” one of the most popular podcasts in the world, will integrate the AI search platform Perplexity as part of their first native ad integration.
Perplexity will be used mid-show to verify claims, explore cultural topics, and highlight Shapiro’s unapologetic pursuit of highlighting “facts over feelings,” per <a href="https://www.adweek.com/media/daily-wire-perplexity-ben-shapiro-show/">ADWEEK</a>.
A press release for the initiative called Perplexity &#8220;the conversational &#8216;answer engine&#8217; designed to revolutionize the way users discover information.&#8221;
&#8220;Perplexity provides instant, factual, and unbiased answers to any question with full sources and citations included, sparing users from having to compare answers or endlessly dig for information,&#8221; the press release adds.
The tech company’s chief business officer Dmitry Shevelenko said of the partnership, “Ben very much prides himself on fearlessly pursuing the truth. This was just a good fit.”
&#8220;The world changes fast, and now Ben doesn&#8217;t have to search endless webpages of information because he can turn to Perplexity for real-time context and facts on the most important issues of the day,&#8221; Shevelenko added.
The pair met at President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January. The partnership represents a shift in how tech companies treat conservatives, which previously had been extremely biased toward leftists. It was also telling that Google and Meta heads were present at the inauguration.
“Trump went on a bunch of podcasts, and it helped him win,” Shevelenko said. “If there’s a lesson from 2024 …  not choosing to engage with certain types of media is not good strategy. You need to be where a lot of people are.”
Perplexity, which has a valuation of $9 billion, also did a spot during a Sunday Night Football ad featuring Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh &#8212; but, the outlet noted, the deal with “The Ben Shapiro Show” is a little different, as it aims to integrate seamlessly with the content and not feel so much like a traditional ad.
The Daily Wire’s SVP of Ad Revenue Christine Hoffman called the new partnership “significant.” 
“This would put Perplexity in the range of our top ad partners who are currently spending with The Daily Wire,” Hoffmann said.
&#8220;Ben has famously quipped that ‘Facts Don’t Care About Your Feelings,’ so we’re thrilled to partner with a company like Perplexity that aligns so well with Ben’s—and his audience’s—reverence for the truth.&#8221; added Hoffmann.

Shapiro utilized the new partnership on his show which aired on Friday, March 7, during a segment of the podcast called The Takedown. While refuting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) claim that President Trump just pushed through tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires, Shapiro asked Perplexity, “What percentage of total income taxes did the top 1% pay in 2016, and what percentage did the top 1% pay in income taxes in 2020?”
The search platform found that in 2016, the top 1% paid 37.3%, and in 2020, they paid nearly 42% of all income taxes. 
“So all that talk about how the richest in our society were sort of disproportionately benefited by the Trump tax cuts – if that’s so, then why did we pay a larger share of the taxes total than we did before the Trump tax cuts?” Shapiro asked.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) CEO C.C. Wei announced at the White House on Monday that his company will further invest at least $100 billion in chip-manufacturing plants in the United States over the next several years.
President Donald Trump, who attended the event where the announcement was made, noted that had TSMC manufactured the chips in Taiwan and shipped them to the United States, they would have been subjected to 25%-50% tariffs.
&#8220;By doing it here, there’s no tariffs,&#8221; Trump said.
Trump said that the deal was critical to United States national security as Taiwan faces the threat of invasion by communist China.
&#8220;Without the chips and semiconductors, nothing runs today,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;You can&#8217;t buy a car without them, you can&#8217;t &#8212; a radio, a television, you can&#8217;t get anything.&#8221;
&#8220;We thought it was very important, obviously business-wise, but we thought even in terms of national security, to have this large percentage of the chips, semiconductors, and other things&#8221; made in the United States, Trump added.
TSMC will invest the money in Arizona to expand the manufacturing plant that it has in Phoenix, where it employs 3,000 people, and will construct three new chip plants, two chip-packaging plants and a research and development center, Wei said at the White House.
TSMC came to the United States during Trump&#8217;s first term in office when it announced a $12 billion investment in Arizona, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The company has since expanded in the state, bringing its total investment up to $65 billion. The new announcement brings the company&#8217;s total investment to $165 billion.

Microsoft confirmed it would shut down Skype in May, directing users to its Teams platform and ending a chapter for the once-popular internet calling service.
Microsoft <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/28/tech/skype-microsoft-shutdown/index.html">purchased</a> Skype in 2011 for $8.5 billion, marking the company’s largest acquisition at the time, according to CNN.
Launched in 2003, the service once dominated internet calling by offering free global connectivity, but struggled to keep pace with rivals such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, and, most recently, Discord and Zoom.
“Skype has been an integral part of shaping modern communications and supporting countless meaningful moments, and we are honored to have been part of the journey,” said president of Microsoft 365 collaborative apps and platforms Jeff Teper in a <a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2025/02/28/the-next-chapter-moving-from-skype-to-microsoft-teams/">statement</a>.
Skype’s ownership changed hands multiple times before Microsoft’s acquisition. In 2005, eBay purchased the voice-over-internet tool for $2.6 billion, but parted ways four years later by selling its majority stake to a separate investment group for $1.9 billion. That transaction set the stage for Microsoft to take over in 2011.
After the purchase, Microsoft integrated Skype with other services such as its Office suite and the now-discontinued Windows Phone platform. Despite that, the platform lagged behind in a landscape increasingly dominated by Apple’s FaceTime and Meta’s WhatsApp as users gravitated toward apps centered on mobile messaging and video calls.
Many organizations turned instead to tools that packaged conferencing, chat, and collaboration in one place. This broader shift contributed to Microsoft’s aggressive focus on Teams, which now offers what the company describes as “seamless file sharing” and expanded functionality that extends beyond basic voice or video calls.

Elon Musk&#8217;s Starlink satellite internet service has emerged as a potential solution for the Federal Aviation Administration&#8217;s aging air traffic control systems, with the agency testing the technology even as Democratic lawmakers raised conflict of interest concerns.
Starlink’s internet terminals are being <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/starlink-faa-contract-elon-musk-conflict-of-interest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tested</a> at multiple FAA sites for a possible air traffic control upgrade, according to CBS News.
Starlink appears poised to take over the $2 billion contract given to telecom provider Verizon in 2023, with Verizon tasked with implementing fiber optic cables to replace the aging, ground-based communications system currently in place.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has confirmed that the agency is reviewing various proposals, but said no final decisions have been made.
Earlier this week, Elon Musk criticized the existing air traffic control network, posting on X that the “Verizon system is not working and so is putting air travelers at serious risk.”
Soon after, he clarified that the “ancient system” he was referring to was created by defense contractor L3Harris and that Verizon’s new replacement technology is “not yet operational.”
Verizon spokesman Kevin Israel told reporters that the company is “working on building the next generation system for the FAA,” adding that they are “at the beginning of a multiyear contract to replace antiquated, legacy systems.”
Bloomberg News reported that Musk recently approved the shipment of 4,000 Starlink terminals to the FAA for potential testing, citing an individual familiar with the matter.
Some Democrats are concerned that this represents a conflict of interest for the administration, as Musk is heavily involved in the administration and donated more than a quarter billion dollars to the Trump 2024 campaign.
“How much richer will Elon get with an FAA contract to another one of his companies? My ELON MUSK Act would stop this blatant corruption,” Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI) wrote on X.
However, the FAA clarified in a Monday statement that they have been testing Starlink satellites “since the prior administration to increase reliability at remote sites.”

Apple announced on Monday that it would invest $500 billion in the United States over the next four years, which includes building an artificial intelligence (AI) server factory in Texas.
The Big Tech company said it will open the 250,000-square-foot server manufacturing facility in Houston in 2026, creating &#8220;thousands of jobs.&#8221; The investment also includes the expansion of teams and facilities in Michigan, California, Arizona, Nevada, Iowa, Oregon, North Carolina, and Washington, according to <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2025/02/apple-will-spend-more-than-500-billion-usd-in-the-us-over-the-next-four-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apple</a>.
“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a press release. “From doubling our Advanced Manufacturing Fund, to building advanced technology in Texas, we’re thrilled to expand our support for American manufacturing. And we’ll keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation.”
Apple&#8217;s announcement comes after Cook met with President Donald Trump last week. Trump hinted at the major Apple investment on Friday, saying that the company “stopped two plants in Mexico” and would build in the United States.
“They don’t want to be in the tariffs,” Trump said, according to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-02-20/apple-s-tim-cook-meeting-with-trump-as-tariffs-threaten-iphones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bloomberg</a>. In a post on Monday morning, Trump thanked Apple for its investment in the United States, writing: &#8220;APPLE HAS JUST ANNOUNCED A RECORD 500 BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THE REASON, FAITH IN WHAT WE ARE DOING, WITHOUT WHICH, THEY WOULD’NT [sic] BE INVESTING TEN CENTS. THANK YOU TIM COOK AND APPLE!!!&#8221;
In a press release, Apple said it would &#8220;also double its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund, create an academy in Michigan to train the next generation of U.S. manufacturers, and grow its research and development investments in the U.S. to support cutting-edge fields like silicon engineering.&#8221; The tech giant says it currently supports nearly three million jobs in the United States, which includes &#8220;direct employment, work with U.S.-based suppliers and manufacturers, and developer jobs in the thriving iOS app economy.&#8221;

Cook, who has previously supported Democrats, attended Trump&#8217;s inauguration and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/apples-tim-cook-donating-1-million-of-his-own-money-to-trump-inauguration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">donated</a> $1 million to Trump&#8217;s inaugural committee.
The Trump administration has focused heavily on AI development in the first weeks of the president&#8217;s second term. Shortly after his inauguration, Trump announced a multibillion-dollar investment in AI infrastructure from an OpenAI, Oracle, and Softbank partnership. Earlier this month, Vice President JD Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/look-to-this-new-frontier-with-optimism-vance-urges-world-leaders-to-follow-americas-lead-on-ai" target="_blank" rel="noopener">addressed</a> world leaders at the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris, urging them to follow America&#8217;s lead on AI.
“This administration will continue to ensure that American AI technology continues to be the gold standard worldwide,” Vance said. “And we are the partner of choice for others, foreign countries, and certainly businesses, as they expand their own use of AI.”

Vice President JD Vance <a href="https://x.com/i/broadcasts/1nAKEgmlPBgJL" target="_blank" rel="noopener">addressed world leaders</a> at the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris on Tuesday, pointing to the U.S. as the global leader on &#8220;one of the most promising technologies we have seen in generations.&#8221;
The conference included world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Canada&#8217;s outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, India&#8217;s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and tech executives. In his speech, the vice president outlined four key points he says the Trump administration will strive for in its AI policy: making America the &#8220;gold standard&#8221; of AI, fighting excessive regulation in the industry, preventing political bias in AI, and advocating for American workers as the technology continues to develop.
&#8220;This administration will continue to ensure that American AI technology continues to be the gold standard worldwide,&#8221; Vance said. &#8220;And we are the partner of choice for others, foreign countries, and certainly businesses, as they expand their own use of AI.&#8221;
To &#8220;safeguard&#8221; America&#8217;s place at the top of AI development, Vance said the Trump administration will &#8220;ensure that the most powerful AI systems are built in the U.S. with American designed and manufactured chips.&#8221; He emphasized that while the U.S. will strive to independently develop AI technology, the Trump administration also desires a partnership with other countries.
&#8220;We want to embark on the AI revolution before us with a spirit of openness and collaboration, but to create that kind of trust, we need international regulatory regimes that foster the creation of AI technology rather than strangle it,&#8221; Vance remarked. &#8220;And we need our European friends in particular to look to this new frontier with optimism rather than trepidation.&#8221;
Citing President Donald Trump&#8217;s recent executive order on AI, Vance said the U.S. would pursue an &#8220;AI action plan that avoids overly precautionary regulatory regime while ensuring that all Americans benefit from the technology and its transformative potential.&#8221; One day after being sworn into office, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-announces-500-billion-stargate-project-to-make-u-s-lead-the-world-in-ai-development" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> a $500 billion investment to build AI infrastructure in the U.S., a move the president said would help America compete with foreign adversaries such as China.
Vance called out foreign governments that were &#8220;tightening the screws&#8221; on AI development by regulating tech companies &#8220;with international footprints.&#8221; He said that &#8220;America cannot and will not accept that,&#8221; adding that heavy regulation on the tech sector is &#8220;a terrible mistake, not just for the United States of America, but for your own countries.&#8221;
Vance said he strongly agrees with the argument previously put forward by Prime Minister Modi that AI will &#8220;facilitate&#8221; the creation of more jobs.
&#8220;It is not going to replace human beings. It will never replace human beings,&#8221; Vance added. &#8220;And I think too many leaders in the AI industry — when they talk about this fear of replacing workers — I think they really miss the point. AI, we believe, is going to make us more productive, more prosperous, and more free.&#8221;
The vice president also commented on the Trump administration&#8217;s desire to keep ideological bias out of AI and protect Americans&#8217; right to free speech as AI progresses. He reminded the audience of when AI systems generated historically inaccurate images of George Washington as a black man and American infantrymen in World War I as women.
&#8220;Now, we laugh at this now, and of course it was ridiculous, but we have to remember the lessons from that ridiculous moment,&#8221; Vance said. &#8220;And what we take from it is that the Trump administration will ensure that AI systems developed in America are free from ideological bias and never restrict our citizens&#8217; right to free speech.&#8221;

A new video series from small tech firm ParkerVision claims that big tech giant Qualcomm stole their patented groundbreaking technology before offshoring it to China &#8212; all while allegedly colluding with the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/obama-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Obama administration</a> to get away with it.
Part one of the four-part series, called &#8220;<a href="https://x.com/Against_Giants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Against the Giants</a>,&#8221; outlines how ParkerVision took Qualcomm to court in 2011, once they believed Qualcomm stole their patented chip. A unanimous jury verdict found Qualcomm guilty, but seven weeks later, the Obama-appointed judge decided to dismiss the entire case, <a href="https://parkervision.com/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/2022/06/4.-Parkervision-Inc.-v.-Qualcomm-Inc.6.20.14-Doc-545-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">citing</a> &#8220;an insufficient evidentiary basis&#8221; over the alleged patent infringement. The shocking swing sparked ParkerVision to look further into the matter, allegedly finding collusion with the Obama administration.
Outlined as one piece of evidence in the series, ParkerVision says the Obama DOJ and the executive office of the president visited the company&#8217;s website and viewed ParkerVision&#8217;s litigation against Qualcomm before Obama flew to California to raise money for the DNC at the Qualcomm CEO&#8217;s home.
ParkerVision and Qualcomm are still enthralled in a legal battle to this day.

Since the video series has gained traction online, Qualcomm has filed a motion for &#8220;Against the Giants&#8221; social media to be shut down, ParkerVision says.
&#8220;Qualcomm has filed a 28 page motion to the court to shut down our social media on the basis that we are infringing on their &#8216;Constitutional right to a fair trial,'&#8221; an update posted Wednesday reads. &#8220;Qualcomm asks for &#8216;immediate court intervention&#8217; that would result in a court order removing our posts.&#8221;
&#8220;ParkerVision will be responding to the court shortly with our opposition to Qualcomm’s motion,&#8221; the account added.

As drones become more standard in warfare, Israel‘s Defense Ministry (IMOD) is working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD) to develop anti-drone technology.
In January 2024, three U.S. Army soldiers were killed, and more than 30 service members were injured by a drone attack at a U.S. outpost in Jordan. “Officials said the drone was fired by Iran-backed militants and appeared to come from Syria,” CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/28/politics/us-troops-drone-attack-jordan/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. “Mexican drug cartels are ordering their members to attack US Border Patrol agents with kamikaze drones and other explosives in a desperate bid to thwart the crackdown at the border, according to an internal memo obtained by The Post,” The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/02/03/us-news/mexican-cartels-order-suicide-drone-attacks-on-border-patrol/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> this week.
The Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD) “identifies and develops capabilities for DOD and Interagency customers to conduct Irregular Warfare against all adversaries, including Great Power competitors and non-state actors,” the entity <a href="https://www.cttso.gov/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> of itself. “Irregular Warfare is a struggle among state and non-state actors to influence populations and affect legitimacy. Irregular Warfare favors indirect and asymmetric approaches, though it may employ the full range of military and other capabilities, in order to erode an adversary&#8217;s power, influence, and will. It includes specific missions of unconventional warfare (UW), stabilization, foreign internal defense (FID), counterterrorism (CT), and counterinsurgency (COIN).”
Tests concluded in Israel on Tuesday follow an initial series of completed trials conducted in October 2024. The tests included nine different Israeli arms contractors and startups demonstrating various drone interception and neutralization capabilities. The IMOD will choose several technologies for accelerated development and production processes with the goal of implementing their operational capabilities immediately.
&#8220;The UAV threat is an evolving and multi-arena threat that has expanded to all our combat sectors, led by Iran and its proxies,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared. “This threat has already extracted a heavy human toll from us, which is why we have mobilized all tools to develop an effective response. The series of tests we conducted represents a national effort led by the DDR&amp;D, with participation from major defense companies alongside innovative startups. Everyone has joined the mission with the understanding that defending Israel&#8217;s skies is a top priority. Against our enemies, we are committed to continue advancing and introducing new capabilities to the battlefield in the near term. We will act to ensure maximum protection for our citizens and forces on the ground against UAVs from Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, and any arena where we may be required to respond.”
Head of the DDR&amp;D, Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Dr. Daniel Gold stated, “The defense establishment is determined to complete a comprehensive defensive response to the drone threat, as we have done for threats in the upper layers. We have defined an operational architecture with the IDF, including detection, tracking, and interception layers. In this series of follow-up trials, we witnessed the advancement of sophisticated drone interception capabilities, which will now enter an accelerated development process under DDR&amp;D leadership.”
IDF Head of Planning and Force Build-Up Directorate Maj. Gen. Eyal Harel added, “We are in a learning competition with the enemy, particularly in the field of UAVs, which challenges us across multiple combat zones. Throughout the war, we have developed various creative, technological, and operational solutions that have led to unprecedented achievements on the battlefield. This day has demonstrated the importance of continued technological efforts that showcase Israel&#8217;s existing technological capabilities. The synergy between the defense establishment and Israel&#8217;s technological sector serves as a force multiplier, enabling us to provide comprehensive protection for Israel&#8217;s airspace and our forces on the ground. In the coming months, we will select the most suitable capabilities and implement them extensively throughout the IDF. Much appreciation to the participating industries.”
