Former President Donald Trump on Thursday promised that if he wins the election, his administration would cut the corporate tax rate for &#8220;companies that make their product in America.&#8221;
Trump said during a speech at the Economic Club of New York that companies that manufacture their products in the U.S. would see a corporate tax decrease from 21% to 15%. He also vowed that there would be &#8220;big&#8221; tariffs on products made in foreign countries coming into the U.S.
&#8220;To further support the revival of American manufacturing, my plan calls for expanded R&amp;D [research and development] tax credits, 100% bonus depreciation, expensing for new manufacturing investments, and a reduction in the corporate tax rate from 21% to 15% solely for companies that make their product in America,&#8221; Trump said to the applause of the crowd. &#8220;You have to make your product in America.&#8221;
&#8220;If you outsource, offshore, or replace American workers, you&#8217;re not eligible for any of these benefits. In fact, you will pay a very substantial tariff. &#8230; There will be a big tariff on that product because we want to make our goods in America,&#8221; he added.

The Republican presidential nominee contrasted his corporate tax rate cut plan with Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/harris-proposes-raising-corporate-tax-rate-28-rolling-back-trump-law-rcna167208" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed</a> corporate tax rate increase to 28%. A Harris spokesman told NBC News that the vice president&#8217;s corporate tax rate proposal is “a fiscally responsible way to put money back in the pockets of working people and ensure billionaires and big corporations pay their fair share.”
Trump argued that Harris &#8220;fundamentally rejects freedom and embraces Marxism, communism, and fascism.&#8221;
&#8220;She is promising communist price controls, wealth confiscation, energy annihilation, reparations. The largest tax increase ever imposed, and mass amnesty and citizenship for tens of millions of migrants who will consume trillions of dollars in federal benefits and destroy Social Security and Medicare,&#8221; he said, according to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-vows-cut-business-tax-rate-15-create-government-efficiency-commission-led-elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>.
&#8220;We&#8217;re not going to watch our wealth and jobs get ripped away from us and sent to foreign countries, which is what&#8217;s been happening,&#8221; Trump added in his speech. &#8220;What we&#8217;re putting forward is the most pro-American manufacturing and jobs policy in modern history for any country.&#8221;

Democrat presidential nominee <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> has endorsed a tax policy that is so fringe, even the legacy media has criticized the plan as unfair, &#8220;unconstitutional,&#8221; and &#8220;scary.&#8221;
Harris, who has been slow to roll out her 2024 policy positions or explain the supposed shift from her far-Left 2020 positions, has endorsed a tax on unrealized gains, which is a tax on money you have yet to collect.
The supposed &#8220;billionaire tax&#8221; is a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains for American households with wealth ironically totaling a fraction of a billion dollars, starting at $100 million.
Under Harris&#8217; plan, for example, if you own a home and its value increases, you&#8217;ll be on the hook for paying taxes on the increased amount, even if you don&#8217;t sell the home.
In other words, you&#8217;d be paying taxes on money you never received &#8212; and may never receive, depending on the market shifts.
Bharat Ramamurti, an informal economic advisor to Harris, tried to defend the policy on CNBC, and was shut down by hosts Rebecca Quick and Joe Kernen.

&#8220;I think that this reaction to unrealized gains is a little funny, given that I bet that the majority of people watching right now are already paying a tax on unrealized gains. It’s called a property tax,&#8221; Ramamurti said.
&#8220;It just doesn&#8217;t seem fair in any sense of the word,&#8221; Quick said.
&#8220;Your value of your home never moves the way a stock moves, the way something else moves that you don&#8217;t sell,&#8221; Quick <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/cnbc-host-laughs-off-kamala-harris-push-tax-unrealized-gains-during-interview-economic-adviser" target="_blank" rel="noopener">explained</a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s also, property tax is a &#8216;use tax.&#8217; You&#8217;re paying for the schools, you&#8217;re paying for the emergency services. Those are things that make absolute sense.&#8221;
Both hosts agreed the tax is likely &#8220;unconstitutional.&#8221;

Entrepreneur <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/vivek-ramaswamy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vivek Ramaswamy</a> warned on Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris’ tax proposals risk another Great Depression if enacted.
Ramaswamy spoke at a Trump campaign event and said that a tax leveraged on unrealized capital gains could cause a “downward spiral in asset prices” and lead to a depression economy. Harris has endorsed a tax on unrealized capital gains, along with other tax proposals, included in the latest Biden-Harris administration budget proposal to Congress.
A tax on unrealized capital gains would force Americans who hold assets such as stocks, real estate, businesses, and other property to pay a tax if the assets increase in value. A tax on unrealized gains must be paid on the appreciation of the asset regardless of whether it is sold and an actual profit earned.
Ramaswamy said that such a tax could force investors and property owners to sell assets early and trigger a collapse in asset prices.
“You don&#8217;t want to sell, but you&#8217;re forced to sell because you have to pay the tax out of pocket. But it turns out you won&#8217;t be the only person required to do that. Somebody else will be required to do that, too, but they&#8217;ll have to do it at a lower price because you already sold, and your sale drove down the price of the asset,” Ramaswamy said.
“And then when the next person does it, that triggers down the price of the asset further. But the guy sitting next to him has to sell that asset to pay his taxes. That is how you trigger what you call a downward spiral in asset prices. It&#8217;s the best formula for triggering a second Great Depression, if we ever have one,” he continued.

The former Republican presidential candidate said that the people most likely to be damaged by such a collapse in asset prices are less-wealthy investors who do not possess enough liquid assets, such as cash, to pay the taxes on their unrealized capital gains.
“The reality is, you know who&#8217;s gonna be holding the bag at the end of it? The people who don&#8217;t hold liquid assets,” Ramaswamy said. “Most people who are wealthier [are] well-advised enough to know that they [need to] hold a significant portion of their assets in liquid holdings.”
“But think about that entrepreneur who started a small business, a barbershop, a restaurant owner who might be having early success but needs to reinvest in their business to grow it. They don&#8217;t have the cash to pay it because they&#8217;re all in on their business. They&#8217;re the ones who are ultimately going to actually have to pay the price,” he said.
The entrepreneur and venture capitalist suggested that Harris’ economic plans would be a continuation of President Joe Biden’s agenda – an agenda that has saddled the average American with an extra $47,000 in regulatory costs over the course of a lifetime, according to one <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/bidens-regulatory-onslaught" target="_blank" rel="noopener">estimate</a>. Ramaswamy said Harris’ policies are borrowed from Democratic hardliners such as Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.
“I respect the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders more than I respect Kamala Harris,” Ramaswamy added. “The only thing worse than somebody who believes the wrong thing is somebody who advances the wrong policies while actually believing nothing at all. And I think that&#8217;s what we&#8217;re getting with Kamala Harris today.”

At Harrah&#8217;s Cherokee Center in Asheville, the GOP presidential nominee <a href="https://x.com/TrumpWarRoom/status/1823825622835057096">said</a> he aimed to reach that objective in less than two years of a second term.
&#8220;I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the U.S. will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half — at least. Half!” Trump said. 
&#8220;We intend to slash prices in half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months,&#8221; he continued, adding that if he does not fully succeed, costs would still be down &#8220;a lot.&#8221;

“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security!” Trump explained. &#8220;We’re going to stop it.”
Trump also referred to his idea to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2024-07-19/trump-pledges-to-end-the-green-new-scam-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shift money</a> for renewable energy priorities under the Biden-Harris administration to infrastructure projects. 
&#8220;To further combat inflation, I will terminate Kamala Harris’ ‘green new scam’ and … give all of the unspent funds back to building roads, bridges and give it back to the government,” Trump <a href="https://x.com/rsbnetwork/status/1823831164315939195?s=46&amp;t=yVg_AIbZC0FnyCtU4qPVYw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “It’s like what she did, what they did, it’s like throwing billions of dollars out the window.”
Near the end of the <a href="https://x.com/greg_price11/status/1823834801570230721?s=46&amp;t=yVg_AIbZC0FnyCtU4qPVYw">speech</a>, Trump tightened up his broader election message, saying he wanted to put an end to the rising costs of groceries, gas, and homes. It’s just “common sense,&#8221; he declared.
Adding in calls to &#8220;stop the invasion&#8221; at the border and get &#8220;transgender insanity the hell out of our schools,&#8221; Trump rallied support for defeating Harris and her “country destroying liberal agenda.”

The Biden administration is copying Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; pledge to end taxes on tips for service workers, which Harris has been accused of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-harris-steals-trumps-no-tax-on-tips-policy-proposal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stealing</a> from her opponent President Donald Trump.
During a White House press briefing on Monday afternoon, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that President Joe Biden &#8220;supports eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.&#8221; Jean-Pierre was asked about the issue after Harris made a campaign promise to eliminate taxing service workers&#8217; tips during a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday. Trump made the same promise in the same city two months before Harris did.
&#8220;This is something the president supports. He supports eliminating taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers while also raising the minimum wage and preventing the wealthy from gaining[sic] the system,&#8221; Jean-Pierre said.

Harris told her supporters in Las Vegas on Saturday, &#8220;It is my promise to everyone here, when I am president we will continue our fight for working families of America, including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.&#8221;
During his rally in Las Vegas on June 9, Trump <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn0Ppvnn4SU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, &#8220;For those hotel workers and people that get tips, you&#8217;re going to be very happy because when I get to office we are going to not charge taxes on tips.&#8221;
The promise from Harris and the White House is an apparent shift in policy after the Biden administration sought to &#8220;improve tip reporting compliance&#8221; to the IRS in February of 2023. The Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (SITCA) program is optional for employers to enroll, but the IRS eventually wants it to become the “sole tip reporting compliance program for employers in various service industries” and eliminate several other tip reporting processes.
Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112940937623275423" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blasted</a> Harris on Truth Social, arguing that she won&#8217;t follow through on her campaign promise.

Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a number of former President Donald Trump’s policy positions on the campaign trail in an apparent effort to distract from her far-left record.
Though Harris’ campaign website does not include any policy positions, the presumptive Democratic nominee has begun echoing her opponent in speeches and ads.
On Saturday, Harris told a crowd in Las Vegas that if elected she would abolish a tax on tips for service and hospitality workers, a policy Trump first <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/08/11/kamala-harris-trump-taxes-tips-service-workers">proposed</a> in June. Harris even used the tagline &#8220;no tax on tips,&#8221; which Trump has been repeating for months. Harris was in Las Vegas to receive the endorsement of the Nevada Culinary Union, which had previously endorsed Trump&#8217;s &#8220;no tax on tips&#8221; proposal.
More than a year before Harris ripped off Trump&#8217;s policy, the Biden-Harris administration launched a new initiative through the IRS and Treasury Department to more <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/before-kamala-harris-copied-trumps-pledge-to-scrap-the-tip-tax-biden-harris-admin-moved-to-enforce-tip-taxation">rigorously enforce taxes on tips</a>.
It&#8217;s not the only position Harris has taken directly from Trump. “Kamala Harris supports increasing the number of Border Patrol agents,” the ad says. “Kamala Harris supports spending more money to stop human traffickers.&#8221;
Trump ran on <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/01/trumps-big-immigration-crackdown-comes-with-a-big-5-year-price-tag-more-than-50-billion/">hiring more Border Patrol agents</a> in 2016 and took action as president to <a href="https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefings-statements/trump-administration-committed-combating-human-trafficking-protecting-innocent/#:~:text=President%20Trump%20doubled%20the%20amount,frontline%20efforts%20in%20the%20states.">halt human trafficking</a> on the southern border. His Department of Homeland Security created the Center for Countering Human Trafficking. The Trump administration released the <a href="https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/NAP-to-Combat-Human-Trafficking.pdf">National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking</a> in October 2020, and <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-trump-giving-35-million-to-aid-human-trafficking-survivors">approved over $35 million in funding</a> for the Department of Justice to provide safe housing for victims of human trafficking.
Harris&#8217; record offers a stark contrast from her new border hawk rhetoric. Harris has <a href="https://cis.org/Bensman/Kamala-Harris-Immigration-Extremist">suggested</a> abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and as the Biden administration&#8217;s &#8220;border czar,&#8221; she oversaw <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/2455010/illegal-border-crossers-total-over-10-million-since-biden-inauguration/">10 million</a> border crossings, including an estimated <a href="https://cis.org/Arthur/Blockbuster-House-Report-Reveals-How-Badly-Bidens-Broken-Our-Immigration-System">1.7 million illegal immigrant &#8220;got-aways.&#8221;</a> The Biden-Harris administration also <a href="https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/activists-send-letter-to-president-biden-asking-to-resume-dna-testing-at-the-us-mexico-border/3300396/">ended DNA testing</a> at the border, which law enforcement previously used to prevent unaccompanied minor immigrants from being sex trafficked.
Harris is also parroting Trump on inflation, one of voters&#8217; <a href="https://thehill.com/business/4769000-donald-trump-joe-biden-inflation-top-concern-2024-election/">top concerns.</a>
“Prices are still too high — you know it and I know it,” Harris  said at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia before adding, “On day one, I will take on price-gouging and bring down costs.”
“When I am president it will be a day one priority to fight to bring down prices,” Harris <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6360093587112">pledged</a> at a rally in Wisconsin.
The comments came after months of Trump made inflation a key issue of his campaign. One of the items in Trump&#8217;s Agenda 47 platform is “End inflation and make America affordable again.&#8221; Trump pledged to end the “inflation nightmare” during his <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/trump-promises-end-inflation-nightmare-rnc-speech-heres-his-plan">speech</a> at the Republican National Convention.

Internal Revenue Service employees and contractors owe a collective $50 million in back taxes, a new audit by the Treasury Department’s inspector general found.
Of the more than 3,800 IRS employees who owe back taxes, 2,000 have not even established a payment plan. More than 50 of these delinquent employees have remained employed by the IRS for five years or more. All told, nearly 150,000 federal employees failed to pay their taxes, owing a combined $1.5 billion.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), who requested the audit, says IRS employees&#8217; failure to pay taxes is particularly galling, considering the $80 billion the Inflation Reduction Act allotted to expand the agency&#8217;s audit capacity.
“Surely the irony and hypocrisy can’t be missed here: taxpayers are being forced to pay billions more to the IRS to audit America while the agency won’t even collect the tens of millions of dollars in unpaid taxes owed by its employees,” Ernst said.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration reviewed 1,068 cases where IRS management had initiated disciplinary action against employees for tax issues, and found that management often went easy on them. “76 employees were suspended. Most of these cases involved willful … cases resulting in the employee being suspended for less than 14 days,” the inspector general&#8217;s report said.
Of 70 cases where the IRS determined that an employee “willfully” engaged in tax misconduct between October 2021 and April 2023, only 20 were fired—even though the law says that all such employees should be terminated, barring intervention from the IRS commissioner.
“Although the law requires an employee who has either willfully not filed or willfully understated their taxes due to be removed, subject only to the IRS Commissioner’s mitigation, this disciplinary action is not always enforced,” it said.
The IRS was unrepentant in its response to <a class="c-link" href="https://www.tigta.gov/sites/default/files/reports/2024-07/2024100033fr.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-stringify-link="https://www.tigta.gov/sites/default/files/reports/2024-07/2024100033fr.pdf" data-sk="tooltip_parent">the audit</a>, writing that “for certain offenses, including the willful failure to file a tax return and willful understatement of a Federal tax liability, IRS employees shall be terminated unless the IRS Commissioner decides to mitigate the penalty of termination… The Commissioner exercised this authority.”
There was also an “additional list of 69 substantiated willful” violations which were referred to a “Review Board,” which recommended “mitigating” punishment due to factors such as the employee having worked at the IRS for many years or having gotten positive employee evaluations.
The IRS acknowledged to auditors that “there are no specific written descriptions of mitigation considerations, or policies and procedures, used by” the Review Board.
In addition to not firing employees with tax problems, the IRS also re-hired more than 500 people who had previously left the agency after having known tax, performance, or misconduct issues. More than 300 were hired despite having “unacceptable performance” in their previous tenure at the agency. More than 100 had tax issues, and 15 committed “fraud/theft.” Twenty-four had violated the section of the law that applies to willful tax problems, and 80 others had tax problems that the agency didn’t deem willful.
The inspector general had previously flagged the issue of re-hiring bad employees and as a result, the IRS had agreed to ensure that hiring managers had access to the personnel files of candidates applying for a second stint. But it apparently kept hiring them despite that.
A law “prohibits the IRS from rehiring former IRS employees who were involuntarily separated” for misconduct or poor performance, yet 10 employees fired between 2007 and 2022 were re-hired after the passage of that law.
On Monday, Sen. Ernst called on IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel to fire offending employees, and refer them for criminal prosecution where appropriate.
Ernst said she is introducing the Audit the IRS Act, which would require “regular tax audits of agency employees” and the termination of those with “seriously delinquent tax debt.”

&#8220;Taxing tips is regressive and goes against American tradition,&#8221; Massie added. &#8220;But now digital payments allow the government to tax every transaction, even those that historically have not been taxed. With inflation raging, it only makes sense to eliminate the tax on tips and provide relief to working folks.&#8221;
Gaetz said he was &#8220;proud&#8221; to join Massie in co-sponsoring the tax-relief legislation.
“As the cost of living continues to rise, the hardworking men and women in the service industry, many of whom may be working a second job to make ends meet, must be allowed to keep every dollar of tip money they earn,&#8221; Gaetz said.

&#8220;I think if anybody looks at his actual record of negotiating with other countries, what he&#8217;s always looking for is balanced trade, and — not free trade, but balanced trade,&#8221; Burgum <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6355136754112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; anchor Shannon Bream, who had noted Trump&#8217;s proposal to replace income taxes with revenue from tariffs.

Burgum also talked about changing his mind since he <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/gop-presidential-candidate-burgum-says-wouldnt-business-trump-rcna93167" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last summer, when he was running for the GOP presidential nomination before dropping out and endorsing Trump, that he would not do business with the former president.
&#8220;Since January, you know, when we endorsed him, when we dropped out, the first of the candidates to endorse him, had a chance to spend a ton of time with him since January, and I wish every American could see him the way Kathryn and I have got to know him in the last six months, because this guy is tireless, he&#8217;s committed, he&#8217;s smart, he&#8217;s funny. He&#8217;s nothing like he&#8217;s portrayed in the press,&#8221; Burgum said while mentioning his wife.
&#8220;And so if you asked me that same question today, I&#8217;d be like, &#8216;Absolutely, I would do business with him,'&#8221; Burgum added. &#8220;Because think about how successful he&#8217;s been, whether it&#8217;s a — whatever it is, I mean, whether it&#8217;s in TV, real estate, politics, all the things that he&#8217;s done, the guy knows how to get it done. Former President Donald Trump said Sunday that if he was reelected to the presidency in November, he wanted to change the tax code to exempt tip income from federal taxes, prompting loud cheers from a Las Vegas crowd.
Trump, who stopped in Sin City after a whirlwind tour of the west coast, told the audience that he wanted to push Congress to act, saying that he&#8217;d ask them to eliminate taxes for tips earned by restaurant and hospitality workers.
