When Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford joined a 12-state coalition suing to block Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros., the case initially looked like a conventional antitrust challenge. Upon closer examination, it appears Ford may be doing the bidding of his friends. 
The biggest beneficiary of Ford&#8217;s action is almost certainly Netflix, which was accused by Paramount earlier this year of running a &#8220;scorched-earth&#8221; campaign against the merger, pushing regulators to shut it down. It turns out that Netflix, a major Paramount competitor, has curious ties to Ford. 
It is a lead sponsor of the Attorney General Alliance, along with 11 of the 12 attorneys general who are part of the Paramount lawsuit. Additionally, one of Ford&#8217;s most prominent political donors, Susan Rice, sits on the Netflix board of directors.
The Attorney General Alliance has been marred by scandal over accusations that its members take action on behalf of its corporate donors. Ford himself is facing an ethics complaint that <a href="https://news3lv.com/news/local/nevada-ethics-panel-advances-complaint-against-attorney-general-aaron-ford">alleges</a> that he &#8220;accepted luxury international trips&#8221; from the Attorney General Alliance, even though it is funded by corporations he&#8217;s supposed to regulate.
In 2024 alone, Ford traveled to 16 different cities which <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dem-gubernatorial-candidate-racked-up-eye-popping-travel-bill-ag-during-400-days-traveling-out-of-state">included</a> a $2,819 trip to Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, a luxury resort in Mexico and $11,992 at Martha’s Vineyard, a luxury vacation spot in Massachusetts. In total, Ford accepted $140,000 for group-sponsored travel and lodging from the AGA. 
After examining the complaints, a review panel <a href="https://news3lv.com/news/local/nevada-ethics-panel-advances-complaint-against-attorney-general-aaron-ford">found</a> enough evidence &#8220;to support a determination that just and sufficient cause exists for the Commission to render an opinion in these consolidated matters regarding the alleged violations.&#8221;
The AGA receives funding from Netflix, a company that just happened to lose a bid to Warner Bros., to Paramount, a merger Ford and other state attorneys are currently blocking.
Concerns about the AGA’s activity have extended beyond Ford. A top aide to an attorney general who was on an AGA-funded trip to Qatar with Ford and other state attorneys general, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-qatar-uses-an-american-nonprofit-to-hide-major-influence-operation-in-the-united-states">told</a> the Daily Wire that the nonprofit has turned itself into a “laundromat” for corporate and foreign interests.
“What AGA has turned itself into is a laundromat for anybody who wants to do stuff without having to disclose it,” said the top aide. 
One of Netflix’s board members, Susan Rice, also happens to have donated to Ford directly. Rice donated a total of $2,000 to Ford, making her first donation of $1,000 on June 28, 2026, and her second on June 30, 2026. 
Rice has been with Netflix for years, even returning to the company after a stint in the Biden administration. Rice was a top contender to be named Joe Biden’s running mate in 2020 after he committed to choosing a woman, and specifically faced pressure to pick a woman of color. Biden ultimately deemed Kamala Harris to be the better choice over Rice, but offered Rice a spot in his administration as a domestic policy advisor. She left Netflix for the position before returning in 2023, after her public service. 
Rice has strained the company&#8217;s relationship with the Trump administration, with the president even <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/02/27/media/how-the-susan-rice-snafu-cost-netflix-on-home-stretch-of-warner-bros-discovery-deal/">calling for her to be sacked</a> over comments she made about corporations who choose to &#8220;take a knee&#8221; during this administration. &#8220;Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences,&#8221; Donald Trump said.
Netflix abandoned its attempt to buy Warner Bros. after the president&#8217;s comments, with many believing the decision came because of a belief that the White House would kill the merger.
Ford’s office did not respond to The Daily Wire&#8217;s request for comment to this story.

President Donald Trump on Saturday called for Netflix to fire former national security adviser Susan Rice from its board.
“Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences. She’s got no talent or skills — Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what???” Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116111073840858395">posted</a> on Truth Social.
Trump’s post followed Rice’s appearance on a podcast hosted by former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. During the interview, Rice, a longtime Democrat operative, issued a warning to “elites” that “take a knee to Trump.” Rice said that when Democrats are back in power, companies, universities, and others who did not fight Trump would face Justice Department probes for potential illegality.
“When it comes to the elites, you know, the corporate interests, the law firms, the universities, the media, I agree with you, Preet. It is not going to end well for them, for those that decided that they would act in their perceived, very narrow self-interest – which I would underscore is very short-term self-interest – and, you know, take a knee to Trump,” <a href="https://x.com/WesternLensman/status/2024661247296172486">said</a> Rice.
“They are going to be caught with more than their pants down. They&#8217;re going to be held accountable by those who come in opposition to Trump and win at the ballot box,” she said.
Rice insisted that the retribution from Democrats on the entities that worked with Trump would come through legal means and be based on the unlawful conduct of those targeted. But she said Democrats would ditch the “old rules.”
“If these corporations think that the Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to, you know, play by the old rules and, you know, and say, ‘oh, never mind, we’ll forgive you for all the people you’ve fired, all the policies and principles you&#8217;ve violated, all the laws you’ve skirted’ – I think they&#8217;ve got another thing coming,” said Rice.
“Whether you’re a law firm, whether you’re a university, whether you’re a media entity, whether you’re a big corporation, whether you’re big tech … there will be an accountability agenda,” she continued. “They better be ready for subpoenas. If they&#8217;ve done something wrong, they&#8217;ll be held accountable. And if they haven&#8217;t broken the law, good for them. … That, also, will be noted and remembered.”
Trump’s push to oust Rice comes as Netflix attempts to navigate a major business deal by acquiring Warner’s movie and television studios and HBO Max. Netflix has offered to pay $72 billion for the acquisition. The Department of Justice has already <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/doj-probes-netflix-power-over-233132671.html">launched</a> a probe into whether the deal could violate antitrust laws.

In the past, even typically establishment Republicans have wondered whether somebody else was pulling the strings in the Oval Office — especially Klain.
“We’ve gotten the impression from our members that have been in meetings down there that he’s kind of the guy behind the curtain,” said Senate Republican Whip Senator John Thune (R-SD) of Klain to <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/540782-gop-says-ron-klain-pulling-biden-strings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a> in 2021.

Additionally, aides to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) nicknamed Biden&#8217;s former right-hand man as &#8220;Prime Minister Klain.&#8221;
Klain was so powerful in the Biden White House, that even progressives praised him.
“A lot of people see him as one of the few avenues they have to have a glimpse into the dynamics and considerations of what’s happening in the White House,” Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/11/21/ron-klain-white-house-west-wing-00069645" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> of Klain to POLITICO. “When I think about some of the conversations that build trust, build the sense of open communication, he’s usually part of that.”
And then he left this past winter.
If Klain had been the progressive&#8217;s best friend calling the shots in the White House, Rice served as more of the moderate figure who blocked them out. Her role in Biden&#8217;s administration was so powerful that POLITICO described her as ruling a &#8220;fiefdom&#8221; within the West Wing and beyond. The outlet even reported that she had Biden&#8217;s ear around the clock and he heavily depended on her for policy-making decisions.
When Rice isn&#8217;t around to tell Biden what to say, he flounders.
Consider what happened in October when somebody asked him about his gender policies, unprompted.
&#8220;What do you say to Americans who disagree with your gender policies?&#8221; a reporter asked.
&#8220;My gender policies?&#8221; Biden said.
The reporter clarified, &#8220;Transgender policies like bathrooms, women’s sports, things like that.&#8221;
&#8220;I stand by my policies,&#8221; a confused Biden said before walking away.
As conservative strategist Greg Price put it, &#8220;Dude has no idea what his policies even are. He just reads what his handlers put on the teleprompter.&#8221;

The president couldn&#8217;t even remember he was in Ireland two weeks ago. How is he possibly going to lead the nation without his two shadow presidents?
Maybe they have stepped away because they know Biden won&#8217;t be attempting anything radical in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election. It appears that he is slipping into a self-imposed lame-duck presidency, so as to appear moderate in the next general election. Whatever the case, we&#8217;ll keep tabs on who might be running the show.

One of President Joe Biden&#8217;s top advisers, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/susan-rice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Susan Rice</a>, has announced that she will leave the White House effective at the end of May.
The White House <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/24/politics/susan-rice-domestic-policy-adviser/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> on Monday that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/susan-rice-calls-new-hillary-clinton-appointment-speculation-an-insult" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rice</a>, who has been serving the Biden administration as a domestic policy adviser, will exit that position just before the Memorial Day holiday weekend on May 26.
Rice has served in the Biden White House for more than two years in that capacity, and according to White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients, has been instrumental in ensuring that the most important issues in Biden&#8217;s domestic agenda have made it from the drawing board to Congress and then back to the president&#8217;s desk for his final signature.
As NBC <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/susan-rice-step-bidens-domestic-policy-chief-rcna80654" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, Rice has been in that significant role as Biden has signed a number of actions — both legislative and executive — on key Democratic issues ranging from health care and gun safety to police reform and student loans.
Rice, according to Zients, has taken Biden&#8217;s Domestic Policy Council &#8220;to new heights.&#8221;
&#8220;It is extraordinary when you think about what she’s done in terms of public service across her career, capped off by being the first person ever to be the national security adviser and domestic policy adviser. It really speaks a lot to her leadership and her range,&#8221; Zients added.
Biden&#8217;s chief economic adviser Brian Deese also praised Rice&#8217;s tenure in the role but noted that the White House would likely shift priorities going into the 2024 presidential election cycle.

It’s going to call for a different approach to policy,&#8221; Deese explained, adding, &#8220;The role and the requirements for the role are going to be different, and I think they’ll take that into consideration.&#8221;
NBC cited another White House source who said the search for Rice&#8217;s replacement would not be limited to those already working within the Biden White House.

President Obama&#8217;s former U.S. National Security Advisor and Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice has exited her position on the board of Netflix to join the Biden administration.
In a statement on Thursday, Netflix chairman and co-CEO Reed Hastings thanked Rice for contributions to the streaming giant.
“We are grateful to Susan Rice for her many contributions on our board and congratulate her on her return to public service,” said Hastings, as reported by <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/12/susan-rice-exiting-netflix-board-jan-20-for-biden-administration-post-1234654033/">Deadline</a>.
Rice will officially depart from Netflix on January 20, 2021, to serve as head of the White House Domestic Policy Council.
Netflixed<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/28789/netflix-names-former-obama-ambassador-susan-rice-paul-bois"> announced</a> in May of 2018 that Susan Rice joined its board of directors.
“We are delighted to welcome Ambassador Rice to the Netflix board,” said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings at the time. “For decades, she has tackled difficult, complex global issues with intelligence, integrity and insight, and we look forward to benefiting from her experience and wisdom.”
Former Ambassador Rice said she was “thrilled” to be joining the “cutting-edge” company.
“I am thrilled to be joining the board of directors of Netflix, a cutting-edge company whose leadership, high-quality productions, and unique culture I deeply admire,” said former Ambassador Rice.
Appointed as U.N. ambassador in 2009, Rice became a household political name on September 11, 2012, following an attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Immediately after the attack, Rice went on as many as five Sunday talk shows to push the Obama administration’s talking point that a YouTube video mocking Muhammad was responsible for the attack, not Al-Qaeda militants.
While Republicans have little regard for Susan Rice, her appeal to moderates and independents increased greatly earlier this year when she told <a href="https://www.npr.org/2020/08/04/898878827/touting-her-experience-susan-rice-makes-her-case-for-bidens-vp-slot">NPR</a> that she loves and accepts her Trump-supporting Republican son.
“I have a 23-year-old son whom I love dearly, whose politics are very, very different from my own and from the rest of our family,” she said. “My son and I will have some robust disagreements over some matters of policy, not all. And yet, at the end of the day, you know, I love him dearly, and he loves me.”
As <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/susan-rice-trump-supporting-son">Fox News </a>reported Rice’s son, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/susan-rices-son-is-outspoken-pro-trump-gop-leader-at-stanford" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">John David Rice-Cameron</a>, “was president of the Stanford College Republicans and hosted events such as ‘Make Stanford Great Again.&#8217;” In 2018, he told the outlet that he and his mother have a “great relationship.”
“My mother and I have a great relationship, and my mother believes strongly in the free and respectful exchange of ideas,” Rice-Cameron told Fox News. “We disagree on most of the standard Republican/Democrat disagreements. However, we agree that America is the greatest nation the world has ever seen, and thus, we believe that America has an important role to play as a force for liberty and justice on the world stage.”
“We support robust American engagement in Africa, and we agree that Russia poses a major threat to American interests. We agree on the importance of American allies, and in a continued American commitment to NATO,” he added.

Former Obama administration National Security Advisor Susan Rice called for the end of a new round of speculation that 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton could become the next ambassador to the United Nations, dismissing the idea as “ridiculous” and insulting to Clinton.

Within the president’s administration, the U.N. ambassador reports to the secretary of state, meaning, if Clinton were appointed to the position, it would be considered a demotion from her previous role as the Obama administration’s secretary of state.
According to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/biden-transition-republicans/2020/11/12/c5899384-2509-11eb-8672-c281c7a2c96e_story.html">The Washington Post</a>, however, Clinton’s name has been floated in private discussions concerning the future of the U.N. ambassador position.
The Post reports:

A U.N. position wouldn’t be without precedent for a former Democratic presidential nominee. Back in 2009, former President Bill Clinton was appointed by the United Nations to serve as the special envoy to Haiti. Furthermore, 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry served as a secretary of state in the Obama administration, having succeeded Hillary Clinton, who was offered the position after she lost the 2008 Democratic nomination to Barack Obama.
Back in August, Clinton suggested that she would be willing to serve in a Democratic administration if she were asked to do so.
“I’m ready to help in any way I can because I think this will be a moment where every American — I don’t care what party you are, I don’t care what age, race, gender, I don’t care — every American should want to fix our country,” said Clinton, reported <a href="https://people.com/politics/hillary-clinton-would-certainly-consider-serving-in-biden-administration/">People Magazine</a>. “So if you’re asked to serve, you should certainly consider that.”
But according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/11/us/politics/biden-cabinet.html">The New York Times</a>, it doesn’t appear that Hillary Clinton would be in the running to take up her old position as secretary of state in a Biden administration. Rice, however, is reportedly under consideration for the position, having previously also served as an assistant secretary of state in the Bill Clinton administration.
The other rumored contenders for secretary of state include Delaware Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) and William J. Burns, a former deputy secretary of state in the Obama administration who also served as ambassador to Russia from 2005 to 2008.

Speaking on Wednesday night with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice launched another attack on President Trump, snapping, “He sends troops into the streets of our cities to attack peaceful protesters.” She also claimed, “the Russians continue to do and have stepped up their effort to interfere in our elections, with, it seems, the blessing of Donald Trump.”
Maddow prompted Rice by saying, “Let me just ask you about something else about which you’ve been really outspoken, and that is what we should sort of expect over the next, I guess, 83 days and the ‘small d’ democratic threat that the president will try to delegitimize the election, that he will try to mess with people’s ability to vote, that he will defy the results of the election if it turns out that he loses his office. How are you thinking about those things now?”
Maddow gushed, “After a lifetime in national security positions; knowing Vice President Biden as well as you know him; facing down these kinds of challenges and threats; what do you think we should all have in mind, or what do you think the country should be working on to try to shore ourselves up and brace ourselves for the worst-case scenario in terms of what this president might do with the peaceful transfer of power?”
Rice immediately waxed hyperbolic: “Rachel, this is an extraordinary circumstance that we find ourselves in; we’ve never, at least in our lifetimes, had a President of the United States who has told us that he may not abide by the results of the election, has told us that he may seek to delay the election itself, has told us that he’s going to cast doubt on the legitimacy of mail-in ballots and go out of his way to make it as hard as possible for Americans to exercise their constitutional right to vote. It’s unbelievable.”
“And then he sends troops into the streets of our cities to attack peaceful protesters,” Rice claimed, before resorting to hyperbole again and her perspective that Trump wanted Russia to interfere in the 2020 election:

“And so, the American people first of all have to be aware,” Rice pontificated. “Secondly, I believe we have to come out and vote no matter what, hopefully through absentee ballots where that’s deemed to be the safest way through early voting, but we have to vote and the result should be overwhelming. The more resounding the outcome, the harder it is for Donald Trump to manipulate and obscure a potential loss. And we just have to be super, super vigilant to all of these different scenarios.”
Rice pretended to be bipartisan: “I believe that we have bipartisan interest in elections being fair and transparent. It affects candidates up and down the ballot, not just at the presidential level. So even if Republicans think that it’s in their interest for Donald Trump to retain power by any means necessary, it may not be in their interest, because the same tools that he uses to his own advantage can disadvantage members of both parties.”
Then Rice sang the praises of Joe Biden: “So the American people just need to be on top of this and we need to be vigilant and we need to not let anybody, Republican or Democrat, get away with any games. We know in Joe Biden we have somebody we can trust in that regard as well as every other.”

Speculation that President Obama&#8217;s former national security advisor and U.N. ambassador Susan Rice will become Joe Biden&#8217;s running mate shot up exponentially on Friday when it was revealed that she sold upwards of $300k in Netflix stock.
According to <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/08/susan-rice-sells-netflix-shares-days-before-joe-biden-chooses-running-mate-1203007545/">Deadline</a>, Rice, who joined the Netflix board in 2018, sold $305,323 worth in the streaming platform&#8217;s stock base “according to an SEC filing late Thursday.” The news comes as Rice remains a top contender to become Joe Biden&#8217;s running mate for the 2020 election:
<blockquote>The option price of Netflix shares at the point of the sale was $508.68. The stock has surged as high at $575 this year as COVID-19 has spurred the addition of 26 million subscribers in the first six months of 2020. On Friday, shares were down 4% at about $488.
Under her board compensation package, Rice gets 125 stock options a month.
In 2016, Rice said in a federal disclosure that her net worth was between $14.7 million and $28.5 million.</blockquote>
Erin Pelton, Rice&#8217;s spokesperson, said the sale had nothing to do with the potential vice presidential pick.
“Ambassador Rice’s sale of a fraction of her Netflix stock has nothing to do with VP speculation,” the spokesperson told Deadline. “She filed a stock plan pursuant to SEC regulations over three months ago.”
In May of 2018, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/28789/netflix-names-former-obama-ambassador-susan-rice-paul-bois">Netflix announced</a> it would be adding to its board of directors former Obama administration United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice.
“We are delighted to welcome Ambassador Rice to the Netflix board,” said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings at the time. “For decades, she has tackled difficult, complex global issues with intelligence, integrity and insight, and we look forward to benefiting from her experience and wisdom.”
Former Ambassador Rice said she was “thrilled” to be joining the “cutting-edge” company.
“I am thrilled to be joining the board of directors of Netflix, a cutting-edge company whose leadership, high-quality productions, and unique culture I deeply admire,” said former Ambassador Rice.
Appointed as UN ambassador in 2009, Rice became a household political name on September 11, 2012, following an attack on the American embassy in Benghazi, Libya, that left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Immediately after the attack, Rice went on as many as five Sunday talk shows to push the Obama administration’s talking point that a YouTube video mocking Muhammad was responsible for the attack, not Al-Qaeda militants.
Though Rice certainly has little appeal with Republicans, her appeal to moderates and independents might have received a boost this week when <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/susan-rice-on-her-trump-supporting-son-i-love-him-dearly-and-he-loves-me">it was revealed</a> that she maintains a close relationship with her son despite his support for President Trump.
“I have a 23-year-old son whom I love dearly, whose politics are very, very different from my own and from the rest of our family,” she told NPR. “My son and I will have some robust disagreements over some matters of policy, not all. And yet, at the end of the day, you know, I love him dearly, and he loves me.”

President Obama&#8217;s former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice has a politically diverse household, including a Trump-supporting son who led the Stanford College Republicans.
Speaking with <a href="https://www.npr.org/2020/08/04/898878827/touting-her-experience-susan-rice-makes-her-case-for-bidens-vp-slot">NPR</a>, Rice said that even though she and her son have passionate differences when it comes to politics, she still loves him &#8220;dearly&#8221; – a nice sentiment, considering that some hardcore leftists have <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/donald-trump-us-election-win-one-year-white-nationalists-nazis-racism-torn-apart-a8043451.html">openly split</a> from their right-leaning family members.
&#8220;I have a 23-year-old son whom I love dearly, whose politics are very, very different from my own and from the rest of our family,&#8221; she said. &#8220;My son and I will have some robust disagreements over some matters of policy, not all. According to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/susan-rice-trump-supporting-son">Fox News</a>, Rice&#8217;s son, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/susan-rices-son-is-outspoken-pro-trump-gop-leader-at-stanford" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">John David Rice-Cameron</a>, &#8220;was president of the Stanford College Republicans and hosted events such as &#8216;Make Stanford Great Again.'&#8221; In 2018, he told the outlet that he and his mother have a &#8220;great relationship.&#8221;
“My mother and I have a great relationship, and my mother believes strongly in the free and respectful exchange of ideas,” Rice-Cameron told Fox News. “We disagree on most of the standard Republican/Democrat disagreements. However, we agree that America is the greatest nation the world has ever seen, and thus, we believe that America has an important role to play as a force for liberty and justice on the world stage.”
&#8220;We support robust American engagement in Africa, and we agree that Russia poses a major threat to American interests. We agree on the importance of American allies, and in a continued American commitment to NATO,” he added.
Rice nearly echoed her son&#8217;s statement in her interview with NPR.
&#8220;We agree, for example, on the importance of the United States playing a responsible, principled leadership role in the world,” Rice said of her son. &#8220;We agree on the importance of having strong alliances. We agree we have to be clear-eyed and strong in dealing with adversaries like Russia and the threat that China may pose. We disagree on things like choice. I&#8217;m pro-choice. He&#8217;s pro-life. That&#8217;s the kind of difference that we ought to be able to respect.&#8221;
Though Rice has much love for her Trump-supporting son, she has little love for Trump-supporting senators.  In June, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/susan-rice-trump-senate-supporters-trash-heap-of-history">she told MSNBC</a> that such senators belong in the &#8220;trash heap of history.&#8221;
The former U.N. Ambassador has become a topic of conversation in recent weeks after presidential candidate Joe Biden reportedly placed her on his shortlist of potential running mates. According to various reports, the list has narrowed down to both her and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).
&#8220;Confidants of Joe Biden believe his choices for vice president have narrowed to Sen. Kamala Harris and Susan Rice — and would be surprised if he picks anyone else,&#8221; <a href="https://www.axios.com/biden-vp-pick-kamala-harris-susan-rice-0e1f7c91-7df2-4d08-a08f-4568e86e6e50.html">reported</a> Axios on Wednesday.
“Rice is getting a big bounce from Obama people who claim her presence on the ticket would guarantee the enthusiastic presence of both Barack and Michelle Obama on the campaign trail,&#8221; the report added.

Susan Rice On Her Trump-Supporting Son: ‘I Love Him Dearly, And He Loves Me’

Members of Joe Biden&#8217;s inner circle are reportedly trying to derail Sen. Kamala Harris&#8217;s (D-CA) appointment as the former vice president’s running mate in the 2020 election, even though the deal seems all but done.
Rumors of a Biden-Harris ticket heated up this week after POLITICO accidentally published a placeholder article listing Harris as the winner of the &#8220;veep-stakes&#8221; &#8212; a story that included generic quotes attributed to the Biden campaign.
Although POLITICO insisted the article was mistakenly made live, some of Biden&#8217;s handwritten notes, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/28/politics/biden-kamala-harris-notes/index.html">visible in photographs from a weekend appearance,</a> do seem to show &#8220;Kamala Harris&#8221; talking points, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/28/politics/biden-kamala-harris-notes/index.html">per CNN</a>. The notes include apparent answers to questions about Harris, including &#8220;Do not hold grudges,&#8221; &#8220;Campaigned with me &amp; Jill,&#8221; &#8220;Talented,&#8221; &#8220;Great help to campaign,&#8221; and &#8220;Great respect for her.&#8221;
But certain members of Joe Biden&#8217;s inner circle, <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/29/biden-allies-move-to-stop-kamala-harris-from-becoming-vice-president.html">CNBC says</a>, are moving to halt Harris&#8217;s all-but-certain Veep bid, and have &#8220;taken their concerns directly to members of Biden’s VP search committee.&#8221;
&#8220;Some of Joe Biden’s allies are waging a campaign behind the scenes to stop Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., from becoming his vice president,&#8221; CNBC reports. &#8220;This disgruntled group of at least a dozen Biden backers, including a few of his top donors, initiated the move against Harris close to a month ago, just weeks before a decision is expected, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter. Many who spoke to CNBC declined to be named as these efforts have been made in private.&#8221;
Their rationale isn&#8217;t clear, but CNBC speculates that some of Biden&#8217;s close friends are still reeling from attacks Harris made on the former vice president during the Democratic primary debates &#8212; attacks which included thinly veiled accusations of racism. Others seem to believe Harris would see the veep slot as a springboard to the presidency &#8212; that she would be campaigning for the top job from &#8220;day one,&#8221; bringing &#8220;into question her loyalty to the former vice president.&#8221;
Close friends and aides who spoke to CNBC used words like &#8220;opportunistic&#8221; to describe Harris.
There may be another faction pressing against Harris that isn&#8217;t as motivated by loyalty to Biden so much as it&#8217;s motivated by loyalty to former President Barack Obama, who has now raked in millions for Biden&#8217;s presidential campaign and likely feels entitled to make big asks of the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee.
<a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/27/susan-rice-top-biden-vice-president-383026">POLITICO reports</a> that Obama&#8217;s team is pressing for Biden to choose former United Nations ambassador Susan Rice, even though Rice isn&#8217;t a politician, has never held an elected office, and remains an icon of one of the Obama administration&#8217;s worst moments, the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, that left the American ambassador and three others dead.
Senior White House aide Valerie Jarrett is said to be at the helm of the pro-Rice effort.
Biden is expected to make his vice presidential pick public sometime next week, ahead of the Democratic National Committee&#8217;s virtual convention.

On Wednesday, <a href="https://grabien.com/story.php?id=299485%3C%22%3E">speaking</a> to Sunny Hostin of ABC’s “The View,” former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, attacking President Trump for his handling of the coronavirus crisis, claimed that the Obama administration had handed the Trump administration a “Pandemic for Dummies” playbook and snapped that the blame for 150,000 Americans dying “is on Donald Trump and his gross mishandling of this pandemic.”
Hostin prompted, “Ambassador, I do want to talk to you then about the coronavirus because President Trump says nobody could have predicted this pandemic.”
Rice responded with a smirk.
Hostin continued, “But the Obama administration did predict a pandemic, and you personally tried to prepare the incoming administration for something just like this, leaving essentially a pandemic playbook that warned of this type of virus happening. So, who is really to blame for the abysmal response here and the death of 150,000 Americans?”
“Well, Sunny, yes, everybody who knew anything about national security, global health, understood that a pandemic was inevitable,” Rice answered. “I write about it in my book that we were just talking about briefly at the outset. We prepared the incoming administration with a ‘Pandemic for Dummies’ playbook and a tabletop exercise and so many other briefings.”
“So the fault here, the tragic loss of 150,000 Americans and counting is on Donald Trump and his gross mishandling of this pandemic,” Rice continued. “He said it would go away; he likened it to the flu. He said, you know, that it would be fine to reopen our states prematurely. He’s encouraged kids to go back to school in communities where the virus is raging. Every step of the way, Donald Trump has put his own personal political interests ahead of the health and well-being and the economic security of Americans. That is why this tragedy has been as bad as it has been. And if anybody has any doubt about that, look at many other competent countries in the rest of the world – in Europe, in Asia, and elsewhere – that have handled this in such a way that their kids are going back to school, their economies are reopening, and the numbers continue to go down. That is not what’s happening here.”

Rice is not the only former Obama administration official to attack Trump for his handling of the coronavirus. In April, Valerie Jarrett, the senior advisor to former President Barack Obama, who was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/02/us/politics/valerie-jarrett-is-the-other-power-in-the-west-wing.html">credited with wielding enormous power</a> behind the scenes, took a shot at President Trump over his handling of the coronavirus crisis while offering a &#8220;much better&#8221; portrayal of Obama, tweeting, “Someone asked me today how would @Barack Obama have handled this crisis? Answer in one word – better. Ok, two words. Much better.”

Despite Rice and Jarrett&#8217;s glowing assessments of the Obama administration, the administration has come under criticism for its response to a 2009 epidemic. After the swine flu epidemic of 2009, medical masks were depleted, and the Obama administration did not act to replenish supply.
<a href="https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2020-03-20/disaster-foretold-shortages-ventilators-medical-supplies-warned-about">The Los Angeles Times</a> reported:
<blockquote>After the swine flu epidemic in 2009, a safety-equipment industry association and a federally sponsored task force both recommended that depleted supplies of N95 respirator masks, which filter out airborne particles, be replenished by the stockpile, which is maintained by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. That didn’t happen, according to Charles Johnson, president of the International Safety Equipment Assn.</blockquote>
Additionally, the first U.S. case of swine flu, which occurred in California, was identified on April 15, 2009. On April 25, the World Health Organization declared H1N1 a public health emergency, echoed by Obama one day later.
The World Health Organization <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/who/">declared</a> H1N1 a pandemic on June 11 but it took Obama <a href="https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/swineflu/16606">until October </a>to declare a national emergency. Trump declared the coronavirus a national emergency two days after WHO declared the coronavirus to be a pandemic.
After Jarrett posted her criticism in April, Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) — a U.S. veteran and Navy Seal for 10 years who lost his right eye after an explosive device hit him in Afghanistan in 2012 and who earned two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with valor — expressed disbelief that in the present moment, Democrats were seizing the opportunity while people are dying in droves to put partisan politics above coming together as Americans.
Crenshaw tweeted, “Why do so many Obama administration staffers constantly try to make Americans feel awful? Highlighting policy differences is expected — but this level of vitriol? During this pandemic? Why?”

Susan Rice, the former national security advisor to former President Barack Obama as well as the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, who may be most famous for claiming that the 2011 Benghazi terrorist attack was precipitated by a video, has weighed in on the 2020 election, snapping that it is to “remove Donald Trump and consign him and those who have supported him in the Senate to the trash heap of history.” Rice attacked Trump for a “series of lies, the disgraceful, despicable lies this president tells.”
Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/andrea-mitchell-reports/watch/susan-rice-trump-administration-has-been-racist-to-its-core-85452869937">brought up</a> Mary Elizabeth Taylor, assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs,  who <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/top-state-department-official-resigns-in-protest-of-trumps-response-to-racial-tensions-in-the-country/2020/06/18/e142e342-b181-11ea-a567-6172530208bd_story.html">submitted her resignation</a> Thursday, prompting Rice to sound as if she were angling for the vice-presidential slot under presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden as she maligned members of the Trump administration, saying, “To serve an administration which has been racist to its core for he last 3 ½ years, from comparing the peaceful protesters at Charlottesville to white supremacists, calling white supremacists ‘very fine people,’ all the way through to the recent weeks where the administration has disparaged the Black Lives Matter movement, disparaged the peaceful protesters, and basically made plain that they prefer to stand by a confederate legacy than a modern America, it’s been an administration whose record on race has just been disgraceful.”
Rice continued, “So while I respect the fact that belatedly, this assistant’s secretary, Ms. Taylor, has recognized how unconscionable that is, and decided she can no longer serve, what we’ve seen in recent days is not that different, frankly, from what we’ve seen over the course of the last 3 ½ years.”
Mitchell then played a clip of Trump saying Obama and Biden had not tried to execute police reform during their tenure.
Rice sneered, “I shouldn’t be laughing because the series of lies, the disgraceful, despicable lies this president tells, seems to know no end. This is just one more in a series of disgraceful lies. The record of the Obama-Biden administration on police and criminal justice reform is very well know. Among the many steps that were taken during the Obama-Biden administration were to limit the transfer of military equipment to police departments; to enforce consent decrees; to launch pattern and practice investigations against police departments that had engaged in a history and a pattern of racism and brutality.”
She continued, “And the Trump administration is very well aware of all those reforms because they came in and systematically undid them from the very beginning of the administration. So to claim that the Obama-Biden administration did nothing is a bald-faced lie, and it’s underscored by the fact that now the president has undone those reforms and is now scrambling in a very superficial, half-hearted insufficient way to try to get on the right side of this issue.”
