The NFL announced on Sunday that rap artist <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Kendrick Lamar</a> will be the headliner at the halftime show at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/super-bowl">Super Bowl LIX</a>.
This will be Lamar’s second time on the Super Bowl stage as he appeared along with an ensemble of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/music">artists</a> including Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent in 2022, per <a href="https://variety.com/2024/music/news/super-bowl-2025-halftime-performer-1236136777/">Variety</a>. Super Bowl LIX is scheduled for February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Lamar issued a statement on the news, saying, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
The 37-year-old Compton-born recording artist was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2018, making him the first recipient who wasn’t from a jazz or classical music category. He’s also won 17 Grammy Awards along with multiple other accolades over the course of his career.
Lamar is an outspoken supporter of Black Lives Matter and other leftist social causes. He made headlines in June 2022 after donning a fake crown of thorns during a performance and dousing himself in fake blood to protest the overturning of Roe v. Wade with the Dobbs decision, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/godspeed-for-womens-rights-kendrick-lamar-wears-crown-of-thorns-drenches-self-in-blood-on-stage-to-protest-roe-v-wade-reversal">reported</a>. 
“I wear this crown. They judge Christ. They judge you, they judge Christ,” Lamar told the cheering crowd at the time before beginning the song “Savior” as buckets of fake blood rained down on him.

After the song concluded, Lamar continued chanting, “They judge you, they judge Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights,” over and over as he left the stage.
Roc Nation founder Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter commented on the rapper performing at the Super Bowl this season. “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come,” he said.
Head of Music at the NFL Seth Dudowsky also shared a statement, saying, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Podcaster and former ESPN host Sage Steele took aim at the use of what is referred to as the “black national anthem” — “Lift Every Voice and Sing” — saying that performing it at major sporting events is divisive in America, and it&#8217;s being shoved &#8220;down people’s throats.”
Speaking with comedian, actor, and musician Reggie Watts on &#8220;<a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-sage-steele-show/id1737682826" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sage Steele Show</a>,&#8221; Steele stated, “I never intended to stir the pot, but now I don’t care. &#8230; I don’t like this whole black national anthem thing.”
“What’s the black national anthem?&#8221; Watts responded.
“See?” Steele pointed out.
“What’s that?” Watts repeated.
“Well, it’s newer the last couple of years and it’s at the Super Bowl,” Steele explained. “And it’s been at a couple of major sporting events, and it’s ‘Lift Every Voice,’ and that&#8217;s sung now before the national anthem and it’s called the black national anthem.”
“It’s a blanthem,” Watts suggested.
“It’s a blanthem,” Steele agreed. She continued:

“First of all, the fact that you didn’t even know,” she said to Watts. “What’s that? The black national anthem. Because it’s new and they’re shoving it down people’s throats. What are we doing?”

In April, Steele told Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro, “I think one of the biggest things that has made me so divisive and disliked and at least parts not all for sure, but parts of the black community is my conversation about being biracial. So if I’m asked and if I’m filling out a census … I’m going to check black and white, you know, my dad’s black, my mom is white.”
“I’m so proud of both. And for some reason that’s controversial,” she continued, adding that she would expect her family’s racial makeup to be celebrated by those who constantly push for more diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“And I just was always confused by that and like, why isn’t my family the actual perfect definition of diversity and tolerance and acceptance and inclusion?” Steele asked.
“Why is it bad that I love my mom as much as my dad and want to celebrate her as well? And when I was crushed for that a few times, I got ticked off. I’m like, enough. This is total B.S.,” she said. “And it’s actually complete hypocrisy, the opposite of what we are preaching of diversity and tolerance and acceptance.”

Retired NFL star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tom-brady">Tom Brady</a> said, in hindsight, he will never do a roast again because of the way some of the jokes on Netflix’s &#8220;The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady&#8221; affected his kids.
During the seven-time Super Bowl-winning QB’s appearance on “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7RdZNrO21k">The Pivot</a>” podcast, Brady told the hosts, “I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way they affected my kids.”
“It’s the hardest part about, like, the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that it affected, actually the people that I care about the most in the world,” Brady said.
“It makes you, in some ways, a better parent going through it ‘cause again sometimes you are naïve,” he added. “You don’t know, or you get a little like, ‘Oh s***.’”

“When I signed up for that. … I love when people are making fun of me. I just want to laugh. I wanted to do the roast because Jeff Ross became somebody I knew. But you don’t see the full picture all the time.”

“So, I think it’s a good lesson for me as a parent,” the football legend said. “I’m going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it. And at the same time, I’m happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun.&#8221;
“And I do think for me, just outside of that, it always is good if we’re not laughing about things, we’re crying,” he added. “And I think we should have more fun. The guys like, what did we love, we loved laughing in the locker room. Let’s do more of that and love each other and celebrate other people’s success. That, to me, gives everyone a lot of hope.”
During the roast, the comedians cracked jokes about Brady’s split from Bündchen, the “<a href="https://www.today.com/parents/celebrity/tom-brady-roast-regrets-kids-rcna152323">Today</a>” show noted. One comedian at the roast, Nikki Glaser, joked about the end of the super couple’s romance and the occupation of Bundchen&#8217;s current beau, <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/tom-brady-netflix-roast-jokes-affected-kids-parenting-1236003283/">Variety</a> noted.
“Tom Brady. Five-time Super Bowl MVP, most career wins, most career touchdowns,” Glaser joked. “You have seven rings — well, eight, now that Gisele gave hers back. The only thing dumber than saying yes to this roast was when you said, ‘Hey babe, you should try jiu-jitsu.’”

Kansas City Chiefs kicker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chiefs-kicker-fulfills-wish-from-family-of-super-bowl-parade-shooting-victim" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Harrison Butker</a> pushed back on the narrative blaming guns for the shooting that rocked this year&#8217;s Super Bowl victory parade in his home city. Instead, he attributed the rise in violent crime to a growing lack of fathers in the home.
Butler made the comments during a recent interview with &#8220;EWTN News In Depth,&#8221; where he explained that a lack of good parenting, particularly from fathers, was spilling from homes into the streets as young men — and increasingly, young women as well — are resorting to violent outbursts to solve disputes.

&#8220;It’s very unfortunate what happened. Unfortunately, many, many children were injured. A beautiful, young lady was killed over someone getting offended and turning to violence to handle that dispute,&#8221; Butker continued, referencing the shooting in Kansas City directly. &#8220;It’s so sad. The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/2-adults-arrested-charged-with-murder-in-kansas-city-chiefs-super-bowl-parade-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shooting</a> that rocked this year&#8217;s Super Bowl parade broke out as a dispute between two groups of people quickly escalated to multiple members of both groups first brandishing weapons and then shooting. One woman was killed and a number of others — including several children — were injured in the crossfire.
Officials reported that in the aftermath of the shooting, two juveniles have been arrested and detained, and three men were charged with federal gun crimes.

Though the San Francisco 49ers came up short at Super Bowl LVIII, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 25-22, their defeat on Feb. 11 pales in comparison to the one suffered by Bud Light during the weeks surrounding the big game.
This year&#8217;s Super Bowl achieved record viewership numbers, but beer sales declined 5.3% overall for the two weeks ending on Feb. 17 compared to the same period in 2023, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/retail/bud-light-missed-out-on-the-super-bowl-party-a5387584" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to data compiled by Bum Williams Consulting and reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). Bud Light sales alone plunged a catastrophic 30.1% compared to last year. Its sister brands Budweiser, Busch Light, and Michelob Ultra fared little better, experiencing drops of 17.7%, 7.2%, and 3.1%, respectively.
The brand experienced disastrous sales numbers after the Super Bowl despite a massive ad campaign during the game itself, featuring NFL legend Peyton Manning and musician Post Malone, the WSJ noted.
Meanwhile, rival brands Miller Lite and Coors Lite (both owned by parent company Molson-Coors) cashed in, with the latter seeing a nearly 10% increase in sales while the former saw a more modest 5% bump.
Modelo Especial also saw a 6.9% increase in sales and continued its streak as the nation&#8217;s favorite beer since it dethroned Bud Light back in May. Modelo as well as Corona are owned by the same company that owns Bud Light, but the U.S. distribution rights are owned by the Chicago-based Constellation Brands as a result of an antitrust lawsuit in 2013.
That Super Bowl slump isn&#8217;t even the latest bad news for Bud Light. In fact, it&#8217;s been a rough year for the formerly beloved beer brand after its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, decided to partner with trans-identifying influencer Dylan Mulvaney in the spring of 2023.
According to the fourth quarter earnings report that came out Thursday, AB InBev (the company that owns Anheuser-Busch) lost <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/29/business/bud-light-boycott-ab-inbev-sales/index.html">up to $1.4 billion</a> last year due to the firestorm of controversy that surrounded its Mulvaney partnership. The company identified the U.S. market in particular as the source of the massive loss, claiming its growth “was constrained  by the performance of our US business.”
“Revenue declined by 17.3% with sales-to-retailers (STRs) down by 12.1%, primarily due to the volume decline of Bud Light. Sales-to-wholesalers (STWs) declined by 16.1% as shipments lagged stronger depletions in December,” the company’s report said.

AB InBev CEO Michel Doukeris told investors that the company was recovering from its losses, but only at a glacial pace — about 0.1 to 0.2 percentage points every 3 to 4 weeks. From May 2023 to February 2024, Bud Light had regained only 1.2 points of its lost market share, according to CNN.
Mulvaney had first promoted Bud Light in a video of himself drinking the beverage in a bathtub on Feb. 11, 2023, but the backlash didn&#8217;t truly erupt until Mulvaney posted a second video for March Madness.
In the April 1 video, Mulvaney, infamous for a series of videos chronicling his transition called “Days of Girlhood,” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/from-dylan-mulvaney-tanking-bud-light-to-the-downfall-of-disney-the-biggest-cultural-shifts-of-2023">showed off</a> a can of the light beer with his face on it. A few days later, Bud Light confirmed that it had indeed signed a brand partnership deal with Mulvaney in an effort to “authentically connect with audiences.”
Bud Light tried to excuse the partnership as just one of dozens it maintains with influencers around the world and noted that the Mulvaney-themed can was not for sale to the general public, but the firestorm had already been unleashed. Almost overnight, a beer brand widely regarded as a blue-collar American beverage became anathema among conservatives.
In the first week of the controversy, Bud Light sales <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/bud-light-sales-decline-dylan-mulvaney-transgender-boycott-1796451" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decreased</a> 11%, and its stock <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2023/05/31/anheuser-busch-stock-enters-bear-territory-amid-anti-trans-bud-light-backlash/?sh=11c6283e1bfe" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plunged</a> 20% by the beginning of June, losing Anheuser-Busch billions in market value. Also in June, Bud Light <a href="https://thehill.com/business/4050296-bud-light-falls-from-no-1-us-sales-spot-for-first-time-in-more-than-20-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost</a> its place as the best-selling beer in America to Modelo Especial. Anheuser-Busch’s overall U.S. revenue was down 10.5% in the 2nd quarter of 2023 (April-June) compared to the same period in 2022, and the company’s sales to U.S. retailers fell 14% by <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12369087/Anheuser-Busch-lost-staggering-395-MILLION-sales-plunged-14-year-Bud-Lights-partnership-transgender-influencer-Dylan-Mulvaney.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">early August</a>. The company lost nearly $400 million <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/03/business/anheuser-busch-revenue-bud-light-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in revenue</a> during the 2nd quarter alone.
The 3rd quarter (July-September) of 2023 was even worse for the company, which reported a 13.5% drop in revenue per 100 liters, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/31/investing/bud-light-anheuser-busch-earnings/index.html">according</a> to CNN, while sales to American retailers decreased 17% in the same period.
In response to the backlash, the beer industry&#8217;s self-regulating body, the Beer Institute, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/one-year-later-how-bud-lights-dylan-mulvaney-fiasco-pushed-beer-industry-to-rewrite-its-ad-standards">revised</a> its ad standards and added new language regarding brewers&#8217; partnerships with social media influencers. Under the new standards, Mulvaney would not be an acceptable partner for a beer company because of the high percentage of his audience that is under the legal drinking age.
Prior to its Super Bowl LVIII ad campaign, Bud Light <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bud-light-budweiser-release-camo-harley-davidson-limited-edition-cans-as-sales-continue-to-plummet">released</a> patriotic-themed ads that emphasized the company&#8217;s American roots and even released camo and Harley Davidson cans to try to win back disgruntled consumers, to no avail. Anheuser-Busch&#8217;s CEO, Brendan Whitworth, was roundly criticized for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anheuser-busch-ceo-breaks-long-silence-amid-dylan-mulvaney-pr-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a statement</a> he made two weeks after the controversy began that failed to make mention of Mulvaney, transgenderism — or offer an apology to offended customers.
It&#8217;s been a rough year for Bud Light, and despite the brand&#8217;s best efforts it hasn&#8217;t been able to recapture its old market share or mollify the anger of conservative customers. The Super Bowl weekend, instead of the nice boost in sales it usually represents, instead crowned nearly a year of financial disaster for Anheuser-Busch.
Bud Light has tried everything from celebrity cameos to pandering, nostalgia-laden commercials to practically giving away free beer, and it has so far failed to bring people back to what was once America&#8217;s favorite beer. Without a genuine redress of grievances from the executives at Bud Light, the brand may not see the end of this long, financially painful road in 2024.

San Diego police had investigated the woman&#8217;s claims for almost ten months, but sent it to the district attorney without a recommendation for prosecution, Yahoo Sports <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/prosecutors-former-bills-punter-matt-araiza-wasnt-present-during-alleged-gang-rape-225211550.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly90LmNvLw&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJNzUpgMWA84vFpjoZ4BTm_0UXrsOVyd1knWfIQvX0xqTD6EWO7TI2-PB4LE_T1DHQbGzmIexeqjW4BJK5WeJeaMlWK_4y7m_VE0yHEug-kugmY40Ag1_3Xu0Z5FW54Z5rS21gC-JN2ZJ_T-QSOGbtl7_uFxRVX2m1qyPh8Bv1qa">reported</a>. The Bills at the time also said they investigated the incident and employed Araiza anyway.
The civil lawsuit became public and, based on the allegations, media and the public vilified Araiza, taking the claims at face value. The Bills cut Araiza, and on December 7, 2022, prosecutors announced that they wouldn&#8217;t charge anyone for the alleged gang-rape, following a 124-day investigation.
San Diego&#8217;s district attorney Summer Stephan said at the time that &#8220;ultimately, prosecutors determined it is clear the evidence does not support the filing of criminal charges and there is no path to a potential criminal conviction,&#8221; the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/22/sports/chiefs-sign-matt-araiza-after-he-was-not-charged-in-rape-case/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_medium=social">New York Post</a> noted.

Later, it came out that prosecutors said Araiza <a href="https://www.nbcsports.com/2023/05/08/as-civil-lawsuit-proceeds-prosecutors-say-former-bills-punter-matt-araiza-wasnt-present-for-alleged-gang-rape">was not present</a> at the time of the alleged incident.
According to investigators, Araiza wasn&#8217;t even at the house when the incident is alleged to have occurred, and video evidence from the encounter casts doubt on the claim that the sex between the woman and the other men was not consensual, as previously reported.
Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend has been with Kansas City for the last four seasons, but becomes an unrestricted free agent next month, NBC noted.

Some people say that conservatives can’t enjoy culture. These people think we’re all a bunch of troglodytic philistines who can’t tolerate the slightest deviance from outdated norms without harboring violent thoughts about whoever dares to exercise some creativity. Frankly, I hope the people who say these things die. Choking on their stinking culture until their eyes burst and come bubbling down their cheeks like acid that burns their faces off right in the middle of the Oscar speech in which they complain about Donald Trump’s morality just before telling their third wife they want a divorce while driving to see their mistress when they’re supposed to be picking their kid up from rehab. Even the thought of their painful deaths makes me laugh. Well, not laugh, but I make a sort of repeated guttural noise that more or less communicates amusement. Only sissies laugh.
But today, just to prove that these hostile cliches about conservatives aren’t true, I want to open the show with a review of a great American cultural event, the Super Bowl, which every conservative enjoys. Or used to enjoy back in the day when men were men — and they wore those adorable little leather helmets that made them look cute as a button.
This year’s contest began with Andra Day singing the Black National Anthem. And let me say right off this was a tremendous relief to me because I keep hearing black people are unhappy and until now, I worried America wasn’t treating them right. But it turns out black people live in an entirely different nation with its own anthem. So they’re not our problem. I mean, we have enough to worry about right here in America and can’t always be thinking about how people are treated in … Black Land, or whatever their country is called. If they want to be treated like Americans, they should come to live here. It’s like those women in Saudi Arabia who have to dress up like the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come even when it’s not December. Sure, I wish they could dress like our girls in fishnet outfits with their bare asses hanging out. I love those. But they’re from Saudi Arabia — it’s another country, like the one the black folks have. If things are hard there, well, it’s just too bad.
Anyway, after the Black National Anthem, we sang our anthem for this country, and then the game began: lots of enormous guys running up and down the field, some of whom looked like they’d come all the way from the nation where the black people live, so it was nice to see they were allowed to visit here and participate, almost like real Americans.

Then, it was halftime, so I went downstairs to the kitchen to see my wife. I love my wife. She combines a comforting domesticity with a smoldering sensuality that still sets my heart on fire after all these years. So halftime was great. Also she made dinner, which was a definite plus because I’d worked up a real appetite watching the American football team play the visiting blacks.
I arrived back in the television room just in time to see some guy skating around in a sparkly blue muscle costume. And all right, that struck me as a little gay, but then the guy was black so maybe that’s how they do things where he comes from. Every country has its own culture and I think we have to be open-minded. As long as they don’t come here and make trouble I don’t care what they do back home. Probably sit around the campfire and sing their national anthem before — I don’t know — whatever — dancing on skates like gay people. I’m not here to judge.
Finally, there were the great commercials, masterworks of American creativity with Ben Affleck making $10 million for five minutes of work eating a donut with his soon-to-be ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, so he has some money to give her when she leaves him for Tom Brady. Now if we couldn’t appreciate American culture like that, we really would be philistines. Or as they call them today, Palestinians. Maybe we should give them their own country like the blacks. Nah, forget it — bad idea.

The prayer and meditation app shared in a post on <a href="https://x.com/HallowApp/status/1758151898383724615?s=20">X</a>, &#8220;#1 in the App Store!! Glory Be &#8211; He is #1.&#8221; It also scored bragging rights as the first religious app to make it to the top.
&#8220;We are overjoyed with how powerful Day 1 of Lent Pray40 was,&#8221; the post read. &#8220;Not only did over 1 million people join the challenge and start a transformational prayer journey yesterday, Hallow also became the first religious app to ever reach the top of the App Store Charts!&#8221;
In the screenshot shared by Hallow, it showed the prayer app surpassed shopping app Temu followed by the social media app Threads. In a second <a href="https://x.com/HallowApp/status/1758152628406546471?s=20">post</a>, the company noted while it has 85 employees &#8220;plus Jesus,&#8221; their victory beat out other companies like Temu with 10,000 employees and Threads with 67,000 workers.

The app&#8217;s popularity to the top of the chart on Wednesday was aided by Catholic stars such as &#8220;The Chosen&#8217;s&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-chosen-and-jesus-revolution-star-jonathan-roumies-career-has-exploded-since-surrendering-to-god" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jonathan Roumie</a> and Hollywood superstar <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mark-wahlberg">Mark Wahlberg</a>, who encouraged people to join them on the app in an ad that aired during Super Bowl LVIII.
The company said it saw the largest <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/mark-wahlberg-shares-ash-wednesday-message-reveals-daily-routine-starts-prayer">download</a> it has ever had after that <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/256862/catholic-prayer-app-hallow-makes-history-in-app-store">commercial</a> aired calling on people to take a moment to &#8220;give thanks to God&#8221; and join in the prayer challenge during Lent.
Speaking to &#8220;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/mark-wahlberg-shares-ash-wednesday-message-reveals-daily-routine-starts-prayer">Fox and Friends&#8221;</a> on Wednesday, Wahlberg and Roumie talked about their partnership with Hallow.
&#8220;We just want to be able to do more, and I think, what better than to have Ash Wednesday fall on Valentine&#8217;s Day?&#8221; Wahlberg said. &#8220;Because where do you get more love than with the Lord and … in a time where there&#8217;s such a disconnect? We need things to bring people together and the power of prayer is doing that.&#8221;
Roumie added, &#8220;And I think as Mark&#8217;s saying … starting the day with gratitude and knowing that … we&#8217;ve been given so much in this life, to be grateful for to God.&#8221;

The Philadelphia Eagles center on Friday took to <a href="https://x.com/JasonKelce/status/1758505827734831218?s=20">X</a> and wrote to his hundreds of thousands of followers that &#8220;Operation &#8216;Get Elijah His Mask Back&#8217; is underway!&#8221; It came after he said he was made aware of <a href="https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/jason-kelce-luchador-mask/3463571/">NBC DFW&#8217;s</a> story regarding the owner of the mask, 8th grader Elijah Smith, hoping to get it back.

On Sunday, pictures and videos surfaced on social media of the Eagles star wearing the mask while out celebrating with his brother and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/taylor-swift-makes-history-at-grammys-announces-new-album" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Taylor Swift</a> following the Chiefs 25-22 victory against the San Francisco 49ers.
Smith and his parents spoke to the NBC outlet on Thursday and talked about how he would like his &#8220;lucky&#8221; mask back because Kelce inadvertently walked away with it after they took the photo together. They said the mask was lucky because Elijah wore it to the 2023 Super Bowl and the Chiefs won and he again wore it to this year&#8217;s Super Bowl where the team was victorious.

Smith said he and his friend tried to catch up to Jason, but it was loud and very crowded.
&#8220;I saw videos on Instagram this week of him wearing it at the next after-party he went to, so he clearly never took it off the whole night,&#8221; Smith added.
Elijah&#8217;s father Thad Smith told NBC, &#8220;The only thing is, Jason if you&#8217;re listening, we just need the mask back before the season starts. Because it&#8217;s a lucky mask, and so the Chiefs need the luck. I&#8217;m sorry we&#8217;re not Eagles fans.”
Elijah said the mask has a huge autograph on the side from Chief&#8217;s player Trent McDuffie so he would really like it back, adding that &#8220;it would be pretty cool if he [Kelce] autographed it&#8221; before he sent it back.

During the NFL player&#8217;s appearance on &#8220;<a href="https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/news/story/kansas-city-chiefs-player-trey-smith-reacts-parade-107256907?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=dhfacebook&amp;utm_content=app.dashhudson.com/abcnews/library/media/379964670">Good Morning America</a>,&#8221; Smith talked about how the team was notified that there was an &#8220;active shooter&#8221; situation as they left the stage at the conclusion of the parade.
&#8220;I just remember the security guards ushering us through the doors quickly, saying, &#8216;Come on, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up,'&#8221; Smith said. &#8220;They said, &#8216;This is not a joke. It&#8217;s a life and death situation.'&#8221;
Smith said he and other players took shelter in a closet and grabbed others to get them to a safe location.

Smith also talked about how he helped calm one young fan amid the chaos.
&#8220;This little boy was with his father. He was a little hysterical,&#8221; Smith said. &#8220;He just panicked. He was scared. He doesn&#8217;t know what&#8217;s going on. I had the WWE belt the entire parade and I was thinking, what can I do to help him out? I just handed him the belt and said, &#8216;Hey buddy, you&#8217;re the champion. No one is gonna hurt you. No one&#8217;s gonna hurt you, man. We got your back.'&#8221;

NFL reporter Albert Breer took to <a href="https://x.com/AlbertBreer/status/1757886988965814454?s=20">X</a> after the shooting and reported how &#8220;unbelievable&#8221; the players were with helping calm fans down.
&#8220;The Chiefs left the parade in buses, and in shock,&#8221; Breer wrote. &#8220;I&#8217;m told players were UNBELIEVABLE calming panicked kids down. [Chiefs players] Blaine Gabbert, Trey Smith, Austin Reiter, Chris Oladukun all rallied.&#8221;
&#8220;Smith went to one upset kid, gave him the WWE title belt and sat with him until he calmed down,&#8221; he added. 
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also helped in the aftermath of the shooting.
Teenager Gabe Wallace told &#8220;<a href="https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article285498677.html?taid=65cd773088998b0001e30bc3&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter">The Kansas City Star&#8221;</a> that, &#8220;Reid was trying to comfort me, which was nice. He was kind of hugging me, just like, &#8216;Are you OK, man? Are you OK? Just please breathe.&#8217; He was being real nice and everything.&#8221;
Wallace said Reid then &#8220;left to check on other people, I&#8217;m pretty sure.&#8221;
