Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said during an interview over the weekend that the Biden-Harris administration, by not backing Israel more following the October 7 terrorist attack, have caused the war against Hamas in Gaza to last longer and more people, including hostages, to die.
Cotton made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union&#8221; with Jake Tapper while discussing Israel&#8217;s recent strikes against the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon last week.
The Biden-Harris administration is &#8220;not giving them the political and diplomatic support that they needed from the very beginning,&#8221; Cotton said. &#8220;Rather than trying to put constant pressure on Israel, more pressure than we put on Iran and its terrorist networks, if Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would simply adopt a policy to let Israel win and back them to the hilt, the war on Hamas probably would have ended a long time ago.&#8221;
&#8220;Earlier this year, there was a de facto partial arms embargo on Israel, not just the 2,000-pound bombs, which they do need to hit Hamas in its deep and buried tunnels, but mortar rounds and artillery shells and small-arms ammunition. Now they even have a tractor embargo in Israel,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;So Israeli soldiers are going to be exposed to minefields that can&#8217;t be cleared because the Biden and Harris administration wants to allow them to get access to the tractors and the bulldozers they need to clear those minefields.&#8221;
He said that the administration&#8217;s policies have not only &#8220;had the effect of prolonging the fighting,&#8221; but they&#8217;ve also likely resulted in more hostages being murdered by Hamas.
&#8220;If the Biden-Harris administration had backed Israel from the beginning, not only would this war likely have already ended with fewer civilian casualties, but we would have gotten more hostages out earlier and alive,&#8221; he said. &#8220;What Hamas is doing, though, is continually moving the goalposts on any kind of hostage exchange for duly convicted terrorists that Hamas wants back. And the Biden-Harris administration keeps allowing them to move the goalposts.&#8221;

The White House reportedly denied allegations that President Joe Biden took drugs to perk up ahead of his State of the Union speech earlier this year.
White House Spokesman Andrew Bates said in a statement over the weekend that Republican officials who question Biden’s SOTU performance were mistaking drug use with “confidence,” according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/playbook">POLITICO</a>. Republicans in recent days have called for Biden to submit to a drug test ahead of a debate with former president Donald Trump, often citing the president’s “surreal” SOTU address.
“It’s telling that Republican officials are unable to stop announcing how intimidated they remain by [the] President’s State of the Union performance,” Bates said. “But after losing every public and private negotiation with President Biden — and after seeing him succeed where they failed across the board, ranging from actually rebuilding America’s infrastructure to actually reducing violent crime to actually outcompeting China — it tracks that those same Republican officials mistake confidence for a drug.”
For the past week, multiple prominent Republicans have pointed to the president’s SOTU performance as evidence that Biden, 81, potentially used substances to increase his energy ahead of the major event. Republicans have <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-say-biden-should-be-tested-for-artificial-stimulation-before-debate">floated</a> the idea that the president could use substances ahead of a debate with Trump.
When Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) was asked on Fox News over the weekend if Biden should submit a drug test before the debate, Scott <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/republicans-say-biden-should-be-tested-for-artificial-stimulation-before-debate">responded</a>: “Why not?”
“The truth of the matter is if you saw the State of the Union and you watched that performance, it was surreal. There was something going on, and if we could find the truth of what it was, we’re all better off,” Scott said. “If it takes artificial stimulation to make the President of the United States perform, how often can he do that?”

At a rally last week, Trump said Biden looked “high as a kite” the night of the State of the Union address.

Washington, D.C., Attorney General Brian Schwalb dropped charges against Steve Nikoui, a Gold Star father who was arrested for disrupting President Joe Biden&#8217;s State of the Union Address, after a significant backlash, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/dc-attorney-general-drops-charges-against-steve-nikoui-disruption-congress-during-sotu-speech">reported</a> Tuesday.
Both the Speaker&#8217;s Office and the D.C. AG&#8217;s office confirmed to Fox News that the charges had been dropped. The AG&#8217;s office told the outlet that its decision to not move forward with the charges was typical when dealing with protesters.
Nikoui was detained after he shouted &#8220;Abbey Gate! Kareem Nikoui! Second Battalion, First Marines!&#8221; as Biden spoke about murder rates in his annual address. Authorities led Nikoui from the chamber and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/arrested-gold-star-dad-doesnt-regret-sotu-outburst-dont-think-i-dishonored-my-son">charged him</a> with a misdemeanor for “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding” during a protest — a charge that carries a fine of up to $500 and 90 days in prison.

Nikoui&#8217;s son Kareem was one of 13 members of the U.S. military <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/21/us/california-mother-loses-two-sons/index.html">killed</a> in a suicide bombing at the Kabul airport during the Biden administration&#8217;s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. At least 170 civilians were also killed in that attack.
“I don’t think I disrespected anyone,” Nikoui said in an interview with Morning Wire. “I don’t think I dishonored my son.”
Nikoui blames the Biden administration for his son’s death, explaining that, “They were told to leave 2,500 troops there. 2,000 troops could have manned Bagram and then 500 extra to help. And that was in place in the agreement. But [Biden] took it to something like 136 troops. If they would have followed Trump’s agreement, my son would be alive.”

Issa said he had the &#8220;honor&#8221; of getting to know Nikoui over the past year and held a <a href="https://issa.house.gov/media/press-releases/issa-holds-first-ever-congressional-forum-gold-star-families-13-servicemembers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">public forum</a> in August that included an impact statement from Nikoui and others. The congressman also noted that the Nikoui family suffered another loss a year after the airport bombing &#8220;when Kareem&#8217;s grieving brother took his own life.&#8221;
Steve Nikoui is a &#8220;man of kindness and integrity,&#8221; said Issa, adding that his &#8220;actions are driven by an unwavering love of country and a deep commitment to honoring the memory and sacrifices of his son and the other fallen heroes of the Abbey Gate.&#8221;
The letter, which was first <a href="https://townhall.com/tipsheet/matthew-foldi/2024/03/19/issa-nikoui-letter-n2636695" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> by Townhall, ended with Issa urging Manger to drop the charges against the elder Nikoui.
&#8220;I implore you to review this situation carefully, taking into consideration his profound loss, the context of his actions, and the apparently disproportionate punishment sought for him — but not for others who have similarly disrupted the State of the Union address,&#8221; Issa said. &#8220;I am confident you will find him to be an upstanding citizen filled with love for his nation, integrity, and honor.&#8221;
He added, &#8220;You have the authority not to proceed in this matter. I hope you will decide to drop the charges against Mr. Nikoui.&#8221;

Steve Nikoui, the Gold Star father <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/man-removed-from-sotu-for-shouting-united-states-marines-at-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested Thursday night</a> for disrupting President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, tells The Daily Wire his only goal was to get Biden to acknowledge his son and 12 other service members who were killed during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Nikoui said he struggled with the decision over whether or not to even attend the speech as a guest of Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who had invited him because Nikoui’s son, U.S. Marine Kareem Nikoui, was one of thirteen troops killed when a terrorist set off a bomb at Abbey Gate in Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai International Airport.
“It was an awkward dynamic,” he says of his attendance at the speech. “I wanted to go, but I also didn&#8217;t want to go. And when I was there, seeing the theatrics, the circus … it just got to me.”

So when the president said Thursday that “America is safer today than when I took office,” Nikoui recalled thinking, “Do you remember that my kid was not safe?” And that’s when he stood and shouted his son’s name and asked the president, “Do you remember Abbey Gate? U.S Marines?”
He then peacefully exited at the order of Capitol police. Once outside the chamber, the grieving father was placed in handcuffs and charged with a misdemeanor for “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding&#8221; during a protest — a charge that carries a fine of up to $500 and 90 days in prison. 
In a conversation that lasted more than an hour on Zoom, Nikoui presents himself as a typical dad on a typical weekend. He has no talking points or artful phrases, and he frequently digresses and loses himself in a memory before returning to an initial train of thought. He says he surprised himself as much as anyone when he found himself on his feet, interjecting from the balcony during the president’s speech.
Nikoui tells The Daily Wire he has the highest respect for the office of the presidency. But he was deeply offended during the 2022 State of the Union address when Biden brought up Afghanistan and, instead of honoring the sacrifices of the 13 KIA service members, immediately pivoted to talking about his own son, Beau, and climate change.
“I remember I watched for like 56 minutes,” he recalls, his voice cracking a bit with emotion. “And then finally [Biden] brings up Afghanistan. But he never said my kid&#8217;s name, you know? I didn’t even need him to say he made a mistake or take blame. I just wanted him to say, ‘The United States will never forget the brave service of Staff Sergeant Taylor Hoover…’ and then go on down the list of the other 12. Just say, ‘We will never forget.’ That’s all he had to do. But he didn&#8217;t do that. Instead, he beelined for, ‘My son Beau died of cancer, and that&#8217;s why I think the existential threat to our military is the burning of diesel fuel in burning pits. Because I think that&#8217;s how Beau got his cancer.’ I just started crying.”
Nikoui has often since wondered why those closest to Biden — his wife and his other son, Hunter Biden — haven’t encouraged him to show more honor to parents who have lost their children in Afghanistan: “Why isn’t his wife isn&#8217;t saying, ‘Honey, you lost your own son when he was in the military. Say their names?&#8217; Why isn&#8217;t Hunter saying that?” 
His arrest has shocked people on both sides of the aisle, including Democratic Congressman Dean Phillips (MN). “As a Gold Star Son myself, I can only imagine the pain he has felt since losing his son in Afghanistan,” Phillips <a href="https://x.com/deanbphillips/status/1766139911839568365?s=20">posted</a> on X. “No one should interrupt a State of the Union Address, but if Marjorie Taylor Greene wasn’t arrested for her outbursts, why should he [be]?”

Nikoui blames the Biden administration for his son’s death.

“That&#8217;s what America doesn&#8217;t know,” Nikoui said. &#8220;That [Biden] actually didn&#8217;t follow the agreement.”
At a number of points during a lengthy conversation on Zoom, Nikoui pauses, however, to explain how important his Christian faith is to him, and how it compels him to forgive. 
“Even if Biden is the man who I believe killed my kid, for lack of a better phrase, my religion commands me that I have to forgive him,” he says. 
But still, he would like to see the administration held accountable for what he believes were serious errors in judgment that left U.S. troops in Afghanistan vulnerable. And for that reason, no matter what happens with his misdemeanor charge, he doesn’t regret speaking up.
“I don&#8217;t think I disrespected anyone,” he tells me before taking a deep breath, struggling to speak without breaking down. “I don&#8217;t think I dishonored my son.”

President Joe Biden faced widespread backlash to his Thursday night State of the Union speech as non-Democrats panned it as the &#8220;most partisan&#8221; address they&#8217;ve ever seen from a president.

President Joe Biden was criticized by Democratic lawmakers on Thursday after he used the term “illegals” during his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/people-are-going-to-remember-that-screaming-daily-wire-hosts-slam-biden-over-angry-sotu-delivery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">State of the Union</a> address..
Biden referenced “illegals” after Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-botches-laken-rileys-name-during-sotu-shouting-match-with-mtg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pressured him</a> into referencing Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, according to police. Biden flubbed Riley’s name during his speech, calling her “Lincoln Riley.” 
“Lincoln Riley!” Biden said. “An innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal. That’s right. But how many of the thousands of people being killed by illegals? To her parents, I say, my heart goes out to you having lost children myself. I understand.”
Biden went on to say that amnesty should be granted to millions of illegal immigrants in the country and said he needed Republicans to pass a Democrat-backed bill in order to have the ability to secure the border. Despite his push for leftist policies, many Democrats were not happy with his reference to “illegals.” 
“As a proud immigrant, I&#8217;m extremely disappointed to hear President Biden use the word ‘illegal,’” Rep. Chuy Garcia (D-IL) <a href="https://twitter.com/RepChuyGarcia/status/1765950131159859281" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. 
“Disappointed that<a href="https://twitter.com/POTUS"> @POTUS</a> would use such dehumanizing right wing rhetoric to speak about immigrants tonight. No human being is illegal,” Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL) <a href="https://twitter.com/DeliaRamirezIL/status/1765943756979634574">said</a>. 
“Let me be clear: No human being is illegal,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) posted on X after the speech. 
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, <a href="https://apnews.com/live/state-of-the-union-updates-watch#0000018e-1c25-d7d8-a7ee-bebf66ef0000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> the Associated Press that she was disappointed with Biden’s reference to illegal immigrants. “I wish he hadn’t engaged with Marjorie Taylor Greene and used the word illegal,” she said. 
 “Just like we should not be implementing Republican policy, we should not be repeating Republican rhetoric,” Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) said. 
The Biden administration has previously <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-state-of-the-union-uses-term-illegal-immigrants-his-dhs-warned-against-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed</a> to rid the government of any use of the term “illegal alien” or “illegal immigrant.” Instead the administration has referred to the flood of illegal immigrants who have crossed into the United States in the last several years as “newcomers” or “undocumented.”

Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL), the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate, delivered an energetic rebuttal on Thursday night to President Joe Biden&#8217;s highly criticized State of the Union address.
The Republican Party&#8217;s decision to have a vibrant Britt, 42, deliver the rebuttal was a stark contrast from watching the 81-year-old president yell throughout much of his speech.
&#8220;The true, unvarnished State of our Union begins and ends with this: Our families are hurting. Our country can do better,&#8221; Britt said, later adding: “Hardworking families are struggling to make ends meet today. And with soaring mortgage rates and sky-high childcare costs, they’re also struggling to plan for tomorrow. The American people are scraping by while the President proudly proclaims Bidenomics is working! Bless his heart. We know better.”
Britt hit Biden hard on the border crisis that he caused and the subsequent flood of illegal aliens that have poured onto America&#8217;s streets.
&#8220;President Biden inherited the most secure border of all-time,&#8221; Britt said. &#8220;But minutes after taking office, he suspended all deportations, halted construction of the border wall, and announced a plan to give amnesty to millions. We know that President Biden didn’t just create this border crisis. He invited it with 94 executive actions in his first 100 days. … President Biden’s border crisis is a disgrace. It’s despicable. And it’s almost entirely preventable.&#8221;
Britt said that Biden was &#8220;not in command,&#8221; a reference to his advanced age and the concerns that the majority of Americans say that they have about his mental fitness for office.
&#8220;The free world deserves better than a dithering and diminished leader,&#8221; she said. &#8220;America deserves leaders who recognize that secure borders, stable prices, safe streets, and a strong defense are the cornerstones of a great nation.&#8221;

During his address, Biden focused heavily on criticizing former President Donald Trump, Republican lawmakers, and conservative voters. Biden spent considerable time at the start of his speech pushing pro-abortion policies and calling on Republicans in Congress to get behind additional support for Ukraine.
After the speech concluded, the &#8220;Backstage&#8221; stream shifted back to the Daily Wire hosts and Shapiro delivered his initial response to Biden&#8217;s address.

Shapiro added that Biden and Democrats have moved so far to the Left that Democratic politicians 30 years ago seem more aligned with current Republicans, such as Trump.

Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro, along with hosts Matt Walsh, Andrew Klavan, and company co-founder Jeremy Boreing, slammed President Joe Biden on Thursday over his State of the Union, saying that it was one of the angriest addresses in American history. 
The comments came during their live reaction on &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/daily-wire-backstage-state-of-the-union-2024-coverage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Backstage</a>&#8221; to Biden’s State of the Union in which he repeatedly attacked former President Donald Trump and yelled throughout. Biden’s speech focused on Ukraine, abortion, and the economy. He also launched repeated attacks on Republicans. 
“It was honestly the worst State of the Union address that’s maybe ever been given, especially for the first 30 minutes,” Daily Wire host Matt Walsh said. “Angry, slurring, started with the most hyper-partisan issues he possibly could.” 
Walsh added that it may have been “the angriest State of the Union” that had ever been given, ripping him for talking about Ukraine and the size of chip bags before addressing the border crisis.
Daily Wire host Andrew Klavan agreed, saying that Biden has always been angry and mean throughout his lengthy political career. 
“This guy has always been this guy. He’s always been an angry, mean, hateful, corrupt, little son of a gun,” Andrew Klavan said. “This might be the only State of the Union that ever accomplished anything, which might be getting Donald Trump elected.” 
“I think people are going to remember that screaming, I think they are going to remember the sound of that voice just scolding everybody and yelling at everybody,” Klavan added. “Who the hell is he to do that? What has he accomplished that he should be yelling at us for being unhappy that the price of food has gone up 35% since he took office.”

“The entire opening of the speech was about how his fellow Americans are terrible and evil and corrupt and vicious and insurrectionists,” Shapiro said. “He is currently running the worst re-election campaign we have ever seen.” 
Trump, who has risen ahead of Biden in many recent polls in key swing states, also ripped Biden over his speech. 
“That may be the Angriest, Least Compassionate, and Worst State of the Union Speech ever made,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “It was an Embarrassment to our Country!”
