The “Sex and the City” spinoff Max series “And Just Like That” is getting some negative reactions from a storyline it added featuring Rosie O’Donnell playing a nun named Mary who loses her virginity to Miranda (Cynthia Nixon).
The episode “Outlook Good,” which premiered on Thursday, included the story of Miranda meeting a tourist named Mary (O’Donnell) at a lesbian bar in New York City. The women decide to head to Mary’s hotel room to engage in sexual activities, per <a href="https://people.com/and-just-like-that-rosie-odonnell-plays-a-virgin-nun-season-3-premiere-11743506">People</a>. 
Mary told Miranda she’s &#8220;amazing.&#8221; 
&#8220;I&#8217;ve never experienced anything like that,&#8221; Mary said. &#8220;Oh, you are really, really something. It felt so, I don&#8217;t know, electric, and yet, still so natural,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;I never dreamed my first time could be both those things.&#8221; 
&#8220;First time?&#8221; Miranda asked. &#8220;So then, this was your first time with a woman?&#8221;
&#8220;This is my first time with anyone. I&#8217;m a virgin. Well, I was a virgin,&#8221; Mary said before revealing that she’s a nun.
Later, Miranda recalls what happened while discussing the incident with her friend Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker). 
&#8220;In my defense, Mary never mentioned she was a nun. And she was dressed like a regular lesbian… In fact, she didn&#8217;t mention it until right after she told me she was a virgin,&#8221; Miranda said. 
&#8220;So, you deflowered the Virgin Mary?&#8221; Carrie joked.

Miranda spent the rest of the episode trying to avoid Mary, who kept trying to contact her. Finally, she said, &#8220;So, I gather you&#8217;re at the beginning of a new journey, and I know how that is because I just got off a crazy chapter myself. But don&#8217;t do anything solely based on what you&#8217;re feeling right now.&#8221; 
&#8220;Don&#8217;t leave God for me,&#8221; Miranda said, to which Mary replied, &#8220;Miranda, I would never leave God. We&#8217;re married.”
Reactions to the episode focused on O’Donnell’s involvement and the cringeworthy factor of the storyline.

The actor and singer, who formerly starred in “Grey’s Anatomy” and identifies as non-binary, posted a statement on social media in response to a review published on The Cut, which the Instagram post referred to as “The Hack Job.” 
Ramírez admitted to having “been thinking long and hard&#8221; about how to respond to The Cut’s <a href="https://www.thecut.com/article/sara-ramirez-che-diaz-and-just-like-that-profile.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">June profile</a>, which the star said was “‘written by a white gen z non-binary person who asked me serious questions, but expected a comedic response I guess (?).”

“I am not the fictional characters I have played, nor am I responsible for the things that are written for them to say. I am a human being, an artist, an actor,” Ramírez continued in the post.
“We are living in a world that has become increasingly hostile toward anyone who dares to free themselves from the gender binary, or disrupt the mainstream.”
The profile in question was written by Brock Colyar, who also identifies as non-binary.

The lengthy critique said, in part, that Che inspired “eye-rolling from the (mostly younger) queer people I know, who found the character a hyperbolized, hypercringe representation of nonbinary identity.” The writer goes on to ask if the Max show “was just being cheeky and trolling us all about how self-serious we get over the politics of representation on a fizzy sitcom.”
Ramirez responds to the criticism in Colyar’s piece by saying, “Anybody who benefits from patriarchy is going to have a problem with Che Diaz,” and later wrote, “Opinions about whether Che is representing an authentically queer person or not is not for me to answer.”
The “And Just Like That” star also said of the profile, “I trust that those of you who matter, who are not petulant children, who are smart enough to catch on to what was actually going on there, can perceive it for what it is: an attempt to mock my thoughtfulness and softness, while dismissing a valid existence and real human being in favor of tv show critiques that belonged elsewhere.”
“I have a dry sense of humor and a voice. And I am not afraid to use either,” Ramírez said.
Che has divided TV audiences since season one. Ramírez defended the character back then when Che was dubbed &#8220;the indisputable worst character on television&#8221; by The Daily Beast.
“I’m very aware of the hate that exists online, but I have to protect my own mental health and my own artistry,” the star said. “And that’s way more important to me because I’m a real human being. I’m really proud of the representation that we’ve created. We have built a character who is a human being, who is imperfect, who’s complex, who is not here to be liked, who’s not here for anybody’s approval. They’re here to be themselves.”

Actress Kim Cattrall used the first day of Pride Month to seemingly confirm she’ll reprise her role as Samantha Jones in the upcoming <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television" target="_blank" rel="noopener">season</a> of “And Just Like That,” a sequel series to HBO’s “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sex-and-the-city" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sex and the City</a>.”
This news came as a huge surprise for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fans</a>. The 66-year-old star previously said she was opposed to participating in any future “Sex and the City” projects, including films and TV series reboots. She was notably absent in the first season of “And Just Like That,” which follows the same characters in their next stage of life after the end of “Sex and the City.”
“Happy Pride,” Cattrall shared on her Instagram along with a link to the <a href="https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/kim-cattrall-samantha-jones-and-just-like-that-season-2-1235629763/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a> article reporting the news of her return.

The publication noted that Cattrall filmed her series cameo on March 22 in New York City “without seeing or speaking with the stars of the series,” including Sarah Jessica Parker,  Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Cattrall also didn’t interact with series creator Michael Patrick King, according to Variety. 
She was dressed by famed “Sex and the City” designer Patricia Field for the appearance.
&#8220;It&#8217;s all so new right now,&#8221; King said of Cattrall agreeing to come back. &#8220;One of my big rules is, don&#8217;t tell things until they&#8217;re real.”
He hinted at bringing the women together, though. “My goal is to bring all the characters into the mix together, so that they&#8217;re not so much on separate runways.&#8221;
“And Just Like That” included Samantha’s character via text messages in season one to explain her absence. In real life, Cattrall and Parker had a strained relationship, which both women had hinted at in various interviews over the years. Cattrall made it clear she was not interested in participating in the new show.

“The series is basically the third movie. That’s how creative it was,” she told Variety last year. “I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media.”
The actress was part of the first and second “Sex and the City” films, but a third movie got scrapped. 
Parker said last year that Cattrall wasn’t asked to be part of the spinoff TV series because of her previous statements about being done with the franchise.

Smith, 30, has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/literally-a-tribute-to-satan-viewers-slam-demonic-performance-at-the-grammys">making headlines</a> recently following a provocative performance with trans-identifying singer Kim Petras at the Grammys. The performer, who identifies as &#8220;non-binary,&#8221; dressed as Satan, and the segment sparked outrage from viewers for its over-the-top hellish imagery and BDSM themes. 
“I know we on the right probably use the word satanic too often but this performance from Sam Smith is literally a tribute to Satan,” Human Events editor Ben Kew tweeted.
“People like Sam Smith who love to mock Christianity and use Satanic themes always think they’re super edgy artists by doing it,” conservative commentator Robby Starbuck agreed. “In reality it’s not edgy. It’s boring, vile, rehashed shock tactics that Hollywood seals clap for because they’re evil &amp; stupid.”
Petras defended the performance, saying, “I think a lot of people, honestly, have kind of labeled what I stand for and what Sam stands for as religiously not cool.”
“And I personally grew up wondering about religion and wanting to be a part of it, but then slowly realizing it doesn’t want me to be a part of it,” the singer explained. “So it’s a take on not being able to choose religion and not being able to live the way that people might want you to live, because, you know, as a trans person, I’m kind of already not wanted in religion.”

&#8220;Sex And The City&#8221; star Sarah Jessica Parker backed out of two events Wednesday because of a &#8220;devastating family situation,&#8221; which was later reported to be the death of her stepfather, Paul Giffin Forste.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sarah-jessica-parker">57-year-old</a> actress was set to be honored at the New York City Ballet&#8217;s 10th Annual Fall Fashion Gala at Lincoln Center before reportedly <a href="https://www.etonline.com/sarah-jessica-parker-has-family-emergency-misses-nyc-ballet-gala-and-press-event-191780">backing out</a>, and news of her stepdad&#8217;s passing surfaced. Forste, who was 76, had been married to her mom, Barbara Parker, for more than fifty years. He died on Wednesday, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/09/29/sarah-jessica-parkers-devastating-family-situation-revealed/">Page Six</a> reported.
Parker&#8217;s family has since released a statement on the loss of their loved one.

The superstar actress not only missed the gala but a global virtual press conference for &#8220;Hocus Pocus 2&#8221; as well. Parker&#8217;s rep confirmed to the <a href="https://www.etonline.com/sarah-jessica-parker-has-family-emergency-misses-nyc-ballet-gala-and-press-event-191780">outlet</a> that her absence at both events was due to a &#8220;family emergency&#8221; but didn&#8217;t elaborate on what that was.

'Sex And The City' Actress Misses Gala Because Of 'Devastating Family Situation'

Just after the ball dropped in Times Square on January 1, 2022, former New York City Police Department (NYPD) Captain Eric Adams was <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/01/eric-adams-sworn-in-as-new-york-city-mayor-after-ball-drop.html">sworn in</a> as the 110th mayor of New York City. Adams was selected largely based on his promise to reduce crime.
But eight months into his term, Mayor Adams and Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell have failed miserably to keep that promise. In fact, they have done the exact opposite: crime is soaring. According to the NYPD’s <a href="https://compstat.nypdonline.org/2e5c3f4b-85c1-4635-83c6-22b27fe7c75c/view/89">Compstat Crime Statistics</a>, from January 1 through August 7, 2022, the seven major index crimes (murder, rape, robbery, felony assaults including shooting victims, burglary, grand larceny and grand larceny auto) are up significantly in all five boroughs of New York City compared to the same period last year.
On Staten Island, those crimes rose 33.4%, in Queens North 48%, in Queens South 33%, in Brooklyn North 28%, in Brooklyn South 37%, in the Bronx 32%, in Manhattan North 28%, and in Manhattan South a whopping 51%.
If you live in an exclusive, traditionally safe area of the city, you may think you’re immune to this burgeoning crime wave. But I’m here to tell you, you’re not.  
Crime is up in 76 of New York City’s 77 police precincts. Only the <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/cs-en-us-101pct.pdf">101 Precinct</a> in Far Rockaway Queens saw a modest reduction in crime. Manhattan’s <a href="https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/nypd/downloads/pdf/crime_statistics/cs-en-us-006pct.pdf">sixth precinct</a> in the West Village, an area that boasts Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment from “Sex and the City” and the “Friends” apartment, has seen an increase in crime of a whopping 82%–the highest of any precinct in the city. This is proof that no one is immune to the crime wave.
But why is this crime wave happening at all?
Former President Barack Obama was correct when he said elections have consequences. New bail reform measures enacted by the New York State legislature and signed into law by its former Governor Andrew Cuomo are the main culprit. And don’t let any of the liberal, bleeding-heart law professors tell you otherwise. You don’t need a fancy advanced degree to know that more criminals on the street leads to more crime.
Sprinkle in the election of soft-on-crime District Attorney Alvin Bragg in Manhattan &#8211; backed by a George Soros funded PAC &#8211; along with a cadre of leftist district attorneys in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx and you have a recipe for disaster.
The New York State Legislature and its current woke Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul have refused to reverse the insane bail reform policy that has eliminated cash bail for most crimes including second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and many other serious felonies.
So in today’s New York City, criminals can punch an elderly woman in the face, steal her purse, break into someone’s home, steal from a local store, deal drugs in front of your home without fear of serious consequences. The message to New Yorkers is clear: screw you, screw the police officer who risked his or her life to make the arrest, and screw the victims.
A couple of weeks ago, the NY Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/08/03/career-criminals-rack-up-nearly-500-arrests-since-ny-bail-reform-began/">reported</a> on ten career criminals who are responsible for over 500 crimes since bail reform went into effect. That is more than 500 new victims terrorized by only ten emboldened criminals. Extrapolate those numbers to thousands of other criminals set free to roam the streets of our city and you can begin to understand why crime is up everywhere.
Allowing retail theft to continue &#8211; as if it’s some version of reparations and not a crime &#8211; is driving up the price of goods and services in the poorest neighborhoods of our city as many small businesses and retail chains shutter their doors and no longer able to absorb the cost of doing business in low income, high crime areas.
Career criminals, who used to be locked up awaiting court dates, are now roaming the streets, some living in tents on the sidewalk outside of your buildings, breaking into your cars, homes, and businesses, or bashing you in the face and taking your money. Meanwhile, the New York State Legislature, the governor, and the borough district attorneys are acting as the lookouts.
To be fair, Mayor Adams and Commissioner Sewell have <a href="https://thenationaldesk.com/news/americas-news-now/our-criminal-justice-system-is-insane-nyc-mayor-nypd-brass-slam-bail-reform-laws-eric-adams-keechant-sewell-new-york-police-recidivists-repeat-offenders">spoken out</a> against bail reform. But what have they actually done to solve the problem? Where is the urgency?
Adams should be using the bully pulpit every day to demand a reversal of that policy and the reinstatement of Qualified Immunity that protects police officers who make a mistake but are acting in good faith. He should be pounding the lectern, demanding the abolition of laws that prohibit police officers from using headlocks or putting weight on a criminal’s diaphragm who is violently resisting arrest. These are the policies that have forced the NYPD to revert back to a time when they stand on the corner with their hands in their pockets, waiting to take a report rather than proactively seeking out criminals and protecting the people they were sworn to protect and serve.
Why would any cop in their right mind, with everything to lose, including their lives, engage with a violent criminal when they can just fill out a report and hand it to a detective? Well-intentioned cops who persevere and continue to try and make a difference are risking their lives and livelihoods with both arms tied behind their backs.
So, where is the mayor in all of this? According to <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/08/10/eric-adams-parties-late-at-new-club-at-aman-new-york/">a report in the NY Post</a> last week, “Adams has been all over at the city’s ritziest, A-list events and venues, dining with Naomi Campbell, multiple Grammy-winner <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/04/28/nyc-mayor-eric-adams-dines-with-naomi-campbell-and-jon-batiste/">Jon Batiste at Zero Bond</a>, partying with rapper <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/06/20/mayor-eric-adams-parties-with-french-montana-on-fathers-day/">French Montana to celebrate</a> his new album, hanging out with Jennifer Lopez during the Tribeca Festival and hitting the <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/06/12/nightlife-insiders-praise-party-mayor-eric-adams/">opening of Avra in midtown</a>.” And let’ not forget his <a href="https://twitter.com/nycmayor/status/1544101866170114054">jet ski lessons</a> out in the Hamptons a few weeks ago. Maybe he’s asking his famous new friends for advice on how to bring down crime.
By all accounts, Commissioner Sewell is a decent, smart, competent person with an impressive resume. But if the NYPD were corporate America and she were the CEO with more than 98% of its franchises failing, she would be marched out the door carrying her belongings in a box. And while Mayor Adams dithers, partying into the night in his fancy suits, making empty promises and shallow proclamations, crime is creeping into every crevice of what was only a few short years ago the <a href="https://www.govtech.com/public-safety/new-york-city-safest.html">safest big city in America.</a>

Despite getting mixed reviews from both fans and critics, “And Just Like That,” the reboot of the popular HBO series “Sex and the City,” is definitely getting a second season, <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/hbo-max-renews-and-just-like-that-sex-and-the-city-1235116366/">according to</a> The Hollywood Reporter.
“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters — played by these powerful, amazing actors,” showrunner Michael Patrick King shared in a statement. “The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just like That… our Sex life is back.”
HBO Max head of original content Sarah Aubrey agreed. She said: “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season two.”
HBO Max also revealed that the show “delivered the strongest debut of any HBO Max Original Series to date.”
The first season saw the reunion of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), plus many of the secondary characters from the original series, which aired from 1998 to 2004. Actress Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, was notably absent from the ensemble after some rumors of drama between her and Parker.
“And Just Like That” showed a new side of the leading ladies as they were in their 50s, not their 30s anymore. Carrie’s husband Big dies of a heart attack after a vigorous Peloton ride in the first episode, leaving her a widow and eventually navigating dating in the city once again. 
Series creators also placed a huge emphasis on injecting modern issues into the narrative and intentionally adding a more diverse cast of characters to counterbalance the three white leading ladies. Sara Ramirez plays Che Diaz, a non-binary comedian and podcaster. Miranda begins an extramarital affair with Che, a storyline that many fans hated because it felt so out of character for her. The same was said of Miranda’s choice to leave her comfortable job to become a civil rights activist.
Hobbes defended Miranda’s decision to make huge, questionable changes in her life. “I feel like what Miranda does [on And Just Like That…] is incredibly brave,” the actress said during a recent interview with <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/cynthia-nixon-the-gilded-age-interview">Vogue</a>.
“She gives up her very lucrative corporate job and goes back to try and make something more of her life. As Miranda says: We’re not old, we’re 55. I mean, you’re certainly closer to the end than to the beginning. But if you’re not happy with where you are, you still have a lot of time to make a change.”

‘And Just Like That’ Confirmed For Season Two On HBO Max

The “Sex and the City” revival “And Just Like That” is reaching the end of season one soon, leading viewers to wonder if that’ll be the end of the line for Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda. The fate of these three cult favorite characters doesn’t feel certain after mediocre reviews plagued the reboot.
Now it sounds like the trio will live to see another season. Sarah Jessica Parker addressed the looming question during an <a href="https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/and-just-like-that-more-seasons-michael-patrick-king-1235168146/">interview</a> with Variety Tuesday.  
“[Executive Producer Michael Patrick King] and I spoke two weeks ago, and said: ‘OK, when are we going to talk about this?’” Parker told the publication. “There’s a calendar and you don’t want to let too much time pass. There feels like there’s momentum.”
The critics may not love the series, but HBO Max executives are pleased with how many people are tuning in regardless. “In terms of viewership, it’s been phenomenal. I couldn’t be happier with how it’s doing in terms of reception,” chief content officer Casey Bloys said.
King also told Variety that a Kim Cattrall cameo is highly unlikely. &#8220;I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again,” the producer told Variety.
However, fans have already proven they’re willing to watch the other three main characters navigate dating and life in their 50s, even if some viewers are watching out of morbid curiosity and not necessarily because they’re loving it.
A New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2021/12/09/new-sex-and-the-city-series-is-woke-weird-and-awful/">review</a> early in the season pointed out several issues with the reboot, which only reinforced some of the worst aspects of the original “Sex and the City.” 
“Carrie was always the worst, a narcissist who grew more malignant with each passing season. It’s amazing that SJP can’t see it — she’s always played Carrie as a charismatic, irresistible heroine rather than the soul-sucking friend and mediocre writer she is,” the review said.
The article also addressed some of the bizarre additions to the narrative, which tried its best to be woke and progressive but instead got slammed for trying too hard.
“The cringe, after all these years, remains strong,” the review continues, citing several examples. “The sophisticated and urbane lawyer Miranda Hobbes acts as though she’s never encountered a black person in her decades of living in Brooklyn and New York City.”
“And we’re meant to believe a humorless nonbinary character [Sarah Ramirez as Che Diaz] — jackknifed into this milieu — is a stand-up comic, given to hyper-woke campus jargon such as, ‘What can … a straight cis male personally do to eradicate the harmful patriarchal system of this gender binary compulsive heterosexuality?’”
Since that review dropped, Miranda separated from her husband, fan-favorite character Steve Brady, to pursue a relationship with the nonbinary podcast host Che. But instead of embracing Miranda’s new adventure, viewers are mostly sad the character is confusing infatuation with love and giving up on her marriage for a fling. Especially when she chastised Carrie for doing the same during the original “Sex and the City.” 
With promising viewership numbers plus Parker’s hinting at a season two, there’s a good chance “And Just Like That” will be renewed. Hopefully writers take the criticism to heart and start crafting a more realistic script that isn’t so focused on pandering to the woke crowd.

‘And Just Like That’ Is Probably Getting A Second Season, Sarah Jessica Parker Says

There’s been a ton of criticism lobbed at the “Sex and the City” (&#8220;SATC&#8221;) reboot slash sequel, “And Just Like That” (&#8220;AJLT&#8221;). Many viewers claim the new version is trying way too hard to fit in with modern times. But according to actress Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbes on the series, these updates were essential.
The original “SATC” premiered in 1998 and ended in 2004. The series was initially heralded as progressive, but critics looking back say there are multiple instances of homophobia, discrimination, cultural appropriation, and slut shaming, just to name a few. The series was edgy at the time. However, “SATC” wouldn’t be classified as anywhere near woke by today’s standards.
One of the biggest issues is the lack of diversity. “AJLT” producers were eager to rectify this issue, and Nixon said that’s a major reason she agreed to the project. She discussed some of her thoughts during an episode of &#8220;The Drew Barrymore Show&#8221; this week, The Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10444857/Cynthia-Nixon-says-important-fix-wrong-Sex-City.html">reported</a>.
“If you revisit something that was such a big part of your life and so iconic,” Nixon told Barrymore in response to a question about deciding to sign on for the sequel. “I mean it’s a big step but also it seemed to me we are very different people now, we are very different ages now.”
She continued, “We were in our early 30’s when we started, we are 55, 56 now. And the world is very different. I wanted to be sure, and I think we all wanted to be sure that when we went back we could save a lot of what was great about the original and fix what was maybe not so great.”
Next, the actress addressed the issue of racial representation.
“Like the fact that it was such an overwhelmingly white show. That we would really open up the door and invite these new characters in and really do right by them so we could get great actors and actresses to play them.”
“AJLT” is missing the fourth member of their group after actress Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the original version, decided not to participate. But in Cattrall’s place, the producers added a bevy of secondary characters who are all intentionally non-white.
Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker), Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) and Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) each serve as friends and even lovers for Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte. Miranda has also been exploring a sexual relationship with the non-binary character Che. This comes as a real disappointment to fans of her husband Steve (David Eigenberh), especially now that the characters are heading toward divorce.
Fans aren’t upset that Miranda is experimenting with sexuality; that’s always been a theme of the show. They’re more disappointed that she would cheat on her husband plus lie about it with Che, which are both actions that don’t fit with Miranda’s personality. 
Some critics are saying “AJLT” is trying to inject too many woke themes into the series to make people love them, which is mostly backfiring.

Peloton cannot seem to catch a break.
The high-end, high-tech fitness equipment company has become a bit of a punchline, most recently in television.
Just weeks after the &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; reboot &#8220;And Just Like That&#8230;&#8221; shocked viewers last month by having main character Carrie Bradshaw&#8217;s (Sarah Jessica Parker) longtime love interest Mr. Big (Chris Noth) die from a heart attack on a Peloton stationary bike, another TV show wrote in a similar accident.
&#8220;Billions&#8221; character Mike &#8220;Wags&#8221; Wagner (David Costabile) suffers a minor heart attack while riding his Peloton bike in the first episode of the drama&#8217;s sixth season which premiered Sunday.
Unlike Chris Noth&#8217;s Mr. Big however, Wags survives his Peloton heart attack and even makes a sly reference to the &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; reboot&#8217;s tragic storyline.
&#8220;I&#8217;m not going out like Mr. Big,&#8221; he says.
As one might imagine, Peloton is not happy with the &#8220;Billions&#8221; scene. The company released a statement saying it never gave permission for a Peloton appearance in the show&#8217;s new season.
&#8220;We get why these fictional TV shows would want to include a brand that people love to talk about, but Showtime&#8217;s use of Peloton&#8217;s Bike+ and reference to a Peloton Instructor was not a brand, product, or instructor placement, and we did not agree for our brand and IP to be used on this show or provide any equipment. As referenced by the show itself, there are strong benefits of cardio-vascular exercise to help people lead long, happy lives,&#8221; Peloton <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2022/01/23/billions-season-six-bobby-axelrod-mike-prince-peleton-heart-attack/6596370001/">said</a> in its statement.
Peloton&#8217;s stock dropped shortly before Christmas after the &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; reboot premiered, featuring the fatal heart attack in the very first episode.
The &#8220;Billions&#8221; producers said the similarity between the two storylines was purely a coincidence and that the &#8220;Billion&#8221; scene was written and shot last spring, long before the &#8220;Sex and the City&#8221; reboot appeared on screens. The line about Mr. Big was dubbed in post production, they said.
“We added the line because it was what Wags would say,” the show&#8217;s producers <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/21/arts/television/billions-peloton-premiere.html">said</a> in a statement.
&#8220;It would be completely out of our character not to take a swing,&#8221; executive producer Beth Schacter <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2022/01/23/billions-season-six-bobby-axelrod-mike-prince-peleton-heart-attack/6596370001/">told</a> USA Today about the decision to add the snarky line. &#8220;It&#8217;s too good. We&#8217;re going to make the joke.&#8221;
Peloton scrambled to course correct after Mr. Big met his fate, even snagging Noth to film an online ad featuring Mr. Big and Allegra, played by real-life Peloton instructor Jess King, who led the character&#8217;s fatal class.
“Shall we take another ride?” Mr. Big asks in the ad. “Life’s too short not to.”
Even the cheeky ad ended up being a potential problem for Peloton, however, when Noth faced multiple sexual assault allegations, and Peloton pulled the spot a few days later.
Peloton&#8217;s TV show troubles are only the latest for the company, which first <a href="https://www.oprahdaily.com/entertainment/a30172338/peloton-girl-commercial-meme-explanation/">faced</a> widespread criticism over a 2019 ad that was criticized as “privileged” and “sexist.”
Peloton also apparently censored hashtags that include the phrase “LetsGoBrandon,” an anti-Biden slogan, from its platform, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/peloton-censors-letsgobrandon-cites-guidelines">according</a> to a Daily Wire review of the company’s web platform.
Last year, Peloton <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/peloton-recalls-treadmills">recalled</a> its treadmills after a 6-year-old child died after being pulled under the rear of the treadmill.

Chris Noth only had a small part but a big role in the “Sex and the City” sequel, “And Just Like That.” The 67-year-old actor played the main character’s on-again, off-again love interest “Mr. Big” for most of the original series. He returned to play the same character in the highly-anticipated sequel.
The pair got married in the first movie and were still living together happily when “And Just Like That” kicked off in 2021. But then, Big died in the first episode, leaving Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) to navigate the grief of widowhood and becoming a single woman in her 50s. Fans were shocked over how Carrie lost her husband when he had a heart attack following an intense Peloton ride.
Noth was already off the “Sex and the City” spinoff for the rest of the season because his character was dead. But now he’s been scrubbed from the season finale as well, in which Big apparently had a cameo in originally. The final episode is scheduled to drop on HBO Max February 3.

According to <a href="https://tvline.com/2022/01/05/chris-noth-and-just-like-that-season-1-finale-big-carrie-paris/">TV Line</a>, in the finale Carrie goes to the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris to scatter Big’s ashes in the Seine river. Fans of the original series recall how important that city is to the couple as it’s where Big goes to profess his love for Carrie in the last season. The scene originally included a fantasy sequence where Big appears to Carrie while she’s there spreading his ashes. Now that scene, which was filmed on location in Paris, has been cut out completely. 
The decision to nix the scene was made amid sexual assault allegations against Noth. Right after the new HBO series premiered, multiple women came forward to accuse the “Law &amp; Order” alum of misconduct.
According to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/chris-noth-accused-of-sexual-assault-1235063596/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>, two women alleged that Noth raped them in separate incidents, one in 2004 and the other in 2015. The actor categorically denied these allegations. 
“The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false,” Noth said in a statement at the time. “These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross. The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
Meanwhile, Noth’s “And Just Like That” co-stars immediately voiced their support for the accusers.
&#8220;We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth,&#8221; a <a href="https://pagesix.com/2021/12/20/sex-and-the-city-stars-address-chris-noth-allegations/">joint statement</a> from Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis said. &#8220;We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.&#8221;
A third woman came forward with more allegations of assault shortly after the first accusations went public. Noth denied these claims as well.
