Former actress turned activist Rose McGowan blasted the media and rebuffed Black Lives Matter Sunday over their treatment of Larry Elder as a conservative black man.
McGowan appeared alongside Elder at a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNjwZwZHCAQ">press conference</a> to endorse Elder and to bring attention to accusations she had previously made against the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Elder is running in a California recall election to replace Newsom.
Elder has previously refuted claims, made by groups like Black Lives Matter, that the United States is systemically racist or that racism is a significant barrier to black people succeeding in the country.  Elder reasserted that position during the press conference
“I was described in the LA Times as ‘the black face of white supremacy’ all because I don’t believe in the lie of systemic racism. It is a lie,” Elder said during the press conference. He went on to slam former President Barack Obama for failing as president to further racial reconciliation. Instead, Elder argued, Obama divided the nation more.
Before Barack Obama entered the Oval Office, “you know what his popularity was? 70% before he set foot in the White House. Many people who didn’t vote for him said, ‘okay, I didn’t want to vote for someone who will tax, spend, regulate, [be] soft on national security, soft on the border, but he will at least bring us together so I’ll pull for him.’ 70% popularity,” Elder said. “And what did he do with that? The Cambridge police acted ‘stupidly.’ No they didn’t. ‘If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon.’ What does that even mean? Racism is in America’s DNA, he said. Really?”
“The first time Gallup asked about racism, about whether or not you’d vote for a black president was 1958, and the percentage who said yes was in the high 30s. Now, only 3% said they would not vote for a black president,” Elder continued. “He invited Al Sharpton to the White House over 70 times, one of the most vicious race hustlers in America … Obama had a great opportunity to bring us together and, instead, because he wanted power, he wanted the Democratic Party to remain in power … he divided this country.”
After Elder made his comments, McGowan stepped up to the mic to defend Elder’s perspective. She also took a swing at Black Lives Matter supporters for dismissing Elder’s views.
“People will disavow that, mostly white people that work in the media will disavow what he just said. But understand where it&#8217;s coming from and that he might just know more than you, living in a different skin,” McGowan said.
“Now this whole, the BLM, all of this, I’ve been gone. I live in a jungle. I’m not fully aware, I mean, I get it. I saw it, like, last week for the first time really in person,” McGowan said. “But I will ask the white citizens, non-blacks to consider that maybe he has had a different experience than you in this world, and instead of reacting … with violence to what he just said, consider that it’s a different experience. We are not the authorities on that.”

Republican candidate for California governor, Larry Elder, can add one more celebrity name to his list of supporters — Charmed actress and MeToo activist Rose McGowan.
As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/as-california-recall-election-approaches-hollywood-goes-on-attack-against-gop-frontrunner-larry-elder">reported</a>, Elder has a few famous faces on his side as he heads into the state’s recall election on September 14, including Clint Eastwood and Chuck Norris. But most of the entertainment industry has aligned for the current governor, Gavin Newsom.
Comedian George Lopez, singer John Legend, actors Mark Ruffalo and Elijah Wood, and directors Rob Reiner, Steven Spielberg, and J.J. Abrams are just a few of the Hollywood heavy-hitters who have either endorsed Newsom or donated money to his campaign.
McGowan hopes to lend some of her own star power to Elder in the closing days of the race.
The actress began her speech at the Luxe Hotel Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles on Sunday by saying, she &#8220;finally came to a point” where she realized she was not a Democrat. &#8220;Everyone who has harassed, stalked, and stolen from me in my time in Hollywood has been a Democrat,&#8221; she said, adding, &#8220;This is not a country or a state for everyone. This is a country for the few.”
McGowan then revealed that she became familiar with Elder through his radio show, saying, &#8220;I used to listen to Larry Elder after I&#8217;d drive home from the set. Sometimes I&#8217;d even pull over and use a fake name, usually Tracy, to call in. And from him, I learned about the corruption of the teachers union in this state.&#8221;
She described Democrats as &#8220;cult leaders&#8221; who &#8220;keep you in fear, they keep you in doubt.&#8221; In contrast, McGowan said she believes in Elder because she &#8220;[knows] his mind.&#8221;
The 48-year-old then posed this question to the crowd: “Why not change? Why not go big? Why not put a stake in the heart of evil? Because that’s what this really is. This is good and this is evil.”
McGowan then endorsed Elder officially, saying that while she may not agree with him on all the issues, &#8220;he&#8217;s the better man and the better candidate.&#8221;
“My money’s on Elder,” she finished, “I really appreciate anybody watching or reading this to think differently. To be brave. Do something that’s weird. Like maybe voting Republican, even though it will feel strange.”
During her appearance, McGowan also reiterated <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/actress-rose-mcgowan-accuses-gavin-newsoms-wife-of-trying-to-bribe-her-to-stay-silent-on-weinstein-assaults-calls-both-newsoms-frauds">claims</a> she made on podcast host Dave Rubin&#8217;s show last week that Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, called her before a 2017 New York Times report on movie mogul Harvey Weinstein&#8217;s abuse scandal, offering McGowan a bribe to if she would help suppress the story.
Siebel Newsom denied the accusation in a statement to <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/rose-mcgowan-larry-elder-gavin-newsom-wife-silence-harvey-weinstein-2021-9">Insider</a>, saying, &#8220;It&#8217;s disappointing but not surprising to see political opponents launch these false attacks just days before the election. Their limited correspondence has been strictly as fellow survivors of sexual assault and in Jennifer&#8217;s former capacity leading the Representation Project, an organization that fights limiting gender stereotypes and norms.”

Actress Rose McGowan Endorses Larry Elder For CA Gov: ‘Put A Stake In the Heart Of Evil”

Rose McGowan, one of the first actresses to accuse convicted rapist and former film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, said on Thursday that Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, tried to bribe her to drop her allegations.
In an interview with BlazeTV host Dave Rubin, the &#8220;Charmed&#8221; star claimed that Newsom called her about six months before The New York Times first broke the news about Weinstein’s predatory history, asking in not-so-subtle terms how much money McGowan would be willing to accept to refuse to go on the record with her story.
&#8220;[Newsom] called me and she set up a meeting with me to meet her somewhere in Brentwood [California],&#8221; McGowan said. She recalled that when she arrived, she became “very creeped out” and left. Newsom then called her again on behalf of David Boies, one-time attorney for Bill and Hillary Clinton who represented Weinstein in his criminal trial.
&#8220;So this woman I don&#8217;t know, some blonde lady with the last name Newsom, cold calls me and [says], &#8216;David Boies wants to know what it would take to make you happy,” McGowan said. When Rubin pressed McGowan on what she thought Newsom meant by that, McGowan speculated Newsom was referring to “fiscal remuneration.”

“Governor Newsom, you’re facing a recall because you’re a fraud, just like your wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom. I have the receipts. I wish I didn’t. I wish you were all real. I wish you really did help. But you don’t. And you’re on the side of wrong. I hope this recall goes through because California does not need you. The nation does not need you. The world does not need you. We do not need you.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.theblaze.com/news/rose-mcgowan-jennifer-newsom-harvey-weinstein">The Blaze</a>, which first reported McGowan’s claims, said it tried to reach out to Newsom to verify the story, but did not receive a reply.
The outlet also noted that Newsom published her own account of an uncomfortable run-in with the disgraced film producer only one day after the Times’ exposé ran.
&#8220;Based on my years in the industry and unfortunately, my own personal experience with Harvey Weinstein, I can tell you that I believe every single word that was written in the extremely disturbing, but not all that shocking, New York Times piece published yesterday,&#8221; Newsom said in the <a href="https://www.huffpost.com/entry/harvey-weinstein-and-the-end-of-open-secrets_b_59d7fd7be4b08ce873a8cdf7?utm_hp_ref=harvey-weinstein">Huffington Post</a>.
She continued:

After revelations that the Hollywood anti-harassment group Time’s Up helped former New York governor Andrew Cuomo discredit an accuser, McGowan is one of the few actresses closely associated with the MeToo movement to avoid charges of hypocrisy.

Actress Rose McGowan pulled no punches recently when she discussed Oprah Winfrey’s connection to alleged sexual abuser and record executive Russell Simmons.
At least 13 women say Simmons harassed, assaulted, or raped them. Several of those women say they were under 18 at the time of the incidents.
At one time, Winfrey was attached to executive produce a film titled &#8220;On the Record&#8221; about their claims, but she later backed out, reportedly at the behest of Tina Tchen, the former head of the MeToo non-profit Time’s Up. Tchen&#8217;s group was ostensibly founded to support victims of sexual abuse in Hollywood, but it became embroiled in scandal when it was revealed that she advised disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on a letter intended to discredit one of his accusers. Tchen, a former Obama White House staffer, and Roberta Kaplan, chairwoman of the Time&#8217;s Up board, ultimately resigned.
Winfrey admitted to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/oprah-winfrey-russell-simmons-pressure-sexual-assault-documentary">Fox News</a> that Simmons had pressured her to walk away from the documentary, but she insisted that that had nothing to do with her decision. &#8220;I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women,” she told <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/oprah-winfrey-steps-away-russell-simmons-accuser-doc-1268653">The Hollywood Reporter</a> at the time, adding, “Their stories deserve to be told and heard.&#8221;
After Winfrey announced she was backing away from the film, Apple dropped plans to air it on its streaming platform.
In apparent reference to this, McGowan <a href="https://twitter.com/rosemcgowan/status/1432065449903153157?s=20">tweeted</a> Sunday, “I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of Oprah. I wish she were real, but she isn’t. From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning &amp; destroying Russell Simmon’s victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come.”
Alongside her comments, McGowan posted a photo of Winfrey kissing convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein’s cheek at an awards dinner.
That same day, McGowan retweeted a comment from a fan who said that many people already believed that Winfrey was a hypocrite, but because they lacked powerful positions, they were ignored.

It wasn&#8217;t until you spoke out &amp; never backed down that it became widely known. You gapped the bridges between the poor and the elites by exposing the corrupt.”
McGowan also struck out at A-lister Reese Witherspoon for her vocal support of Time’s Up.
In honor of Women’s Equality Day on August 26, Witherspoon tweeted, “HUGE appreciation for all the women who came before us that made this day possible … Let’s keep pushing for more ways to protect our rights and create equality for women everywhere.&#8221;
McGowan <a href="https://twitter.com/rosemcgowan/status/1431023251090726918?s=20">replied</a>, “Maybe consider working with real activists instead of sham organizations like Time’s Up.”
Witherspoon has offered no comment about the revelations that Time’s Up assisted Cuomo.

After the revelations from the New York Attorney General’s report indicating that two of the founders of the Time’s Up movement helped New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo handle sexual harassment claims, actress Rose McGowan, famed for leading the fight against sexual harassment in Hollywood, blasted not only the Time’s Up movement, but also President Biden, Cuomo, and her former “Charmed” co-star, actress Alyssa Milano, calling them “lizard people” and telling them, “Your time is up.”

“Two women who helped found the anti-harassment group Time’s Up during the height of the #MeToo Movement helped New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office in drafting a letter that smeared one of his accusers and ‘impugned her credibility,’ the state attorney general said in her bombshell report Tuesday,” <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/times-up-founders-cuomo-lindsey-boylan">Fox News</a>reported.
The damning report targeting Cuomo stated that Cuomo’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, was told by Cuomo to consult Roberta Kaplan, who co-founded the Time’s Up legal defense fund with CEO Tina Tchen, about a letter that had been drafted in response to allegations by the governor’s first accuser, former aide Lindsey Boylan.
The report noted, &#8220;According to Ms. DeRosa, Ms. Kaplan read the letter to the head of the advocacy group Times Up [Tchen], and both of them allegedly suggested that, without the statements about Ms. Boylan’s interactions with male colleagues, the letter was fine. …Ms. DeRosa reported back to the Governor that Ms. Kaplan and the head of Times Up thought the letter was okay with some changes, as did [Cuomo ally Steve] Cohen, but everyone else thought it was a bad idea.&#8221;
After being harshly criticized, Time’s Up gave a <a style="font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;" href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/times-up-responds-cuomo-investigation-1234992138/">statement</a> to The Hollywood Reporter:

Actress and activist Rose McGowan drew from her experience of having grown up in a cult to explain how she realized the cult-like aspects of extreme politics, &#8220;most especially&#8221; among Democrats.
McGowan, who famously spoke out against Harvey Weinstein&#8217;s sexual abuse, explained to Fox News host Tammy Bruce how she had been raised in The Children of God cult, which she claimed has given her the &#8220;superpower&#8221; of discerning &#8220;the control and propaganda machine&#8221; of politics on both sides.
&#8220;I am not here to make people feel bad about their political choices,&#8221; McGowan said. &#8220;But I am here to say that you might be in a cult too if you don’t know the signs. And I do believe Democrats, most especially, are in a deep cult that they really don’t know about and aren’t really aware of.&#8221;
After claiming the Democratic Party &#8220;masquerades&#8221; as a party that wants to help people, McGowan said, &#8220;My persecution and awakening from being a Democrat was so much about what I do and what I say now and so much about realizing how hardcore of a cult it is. And how much it does to women and the people it says it’s going to help. Then why haven’t they achieved anything?&#8221;

As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-hollywood-anti-harassment-charity-times-up-spent-big-on-salaries-little-on-victims">reported</a> on Monday, the famed organization that sprouted in the wake of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein&#8217;s downfall spent most of its $3 million in donations on salaries and little else.

Of the $3,670,219 that both the Time’s Up Foundation and Time’s Up Now Inc. raised in 2018, a whopping 40% went to salaries – $1,407,032 versus just $312,001 spent on the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund. The New York Post also noted that an additional $150,000 was spent on conferences and retreats that were meant to &#8220;build community and spark critical conversations about gender equity.&#8221;
In another tweet, McGowan said that she rescinded Time&#8217;s Up offer to help fight her legal claims against her alleged sexual abusers.
“I am formally refusing their offer of financial help. Tomorrow I’m tearing up the contract,” she wrote. “My current lawyers won’t rep me without $$$$, but feeling clean is better.”
Earlier this year, McGowan blasted the Democrats and its #MeToo allies for their hypocrisy regarding Tara Reade’s accusation of sexual assault against Joe Biden. She finally broke down in an emotional social media post and declared that she no longer recognizes the political party she once called home.

In a tweet on Monday, Stelter characterized Toobin’s undoing as a deeply unfortunate circumstance in light of the current election, as if a beloved member of the “Never Trump” team had been benched before the big game.
“Jeffrey Toobin has been sidelined at a pivotal moment in the run-up to the presidential election,” tweeted Stelter. “The reason: He exposed himself during a Zoom call with New Yorker colleagues in what he says was an accident.”
Toobin said that he believed the video camera was off at the time of the incident.
