Senator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron Johnson</a> (R-WI) sent a letter to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/federal-aviation-administration-faa" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Federal Aviation Administration</a> (FAA) on Friday asking if the agency would investigate reports from pilots who have claimed they had an adverse response to COVID vaccination. 
Johnson, a strong opponent of vaccine mandates, asked in the letter for more information about recent medical testing decisions from the FAA and if it was aware of any adverse events related to COVID vaccination. The letter was sent to Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen and Federal Air Surgeon Susan Northrup.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wisconsin</a> Republican’s <a href="https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/23589048/2023-01-27-rhj-to-faa-re-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-events.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> covered a variety of topics related to the COVID vaccine, including a question about new parameters adopted by the FAA in October related to AV block. AV block occurs when the heart cannot pump blood effectively because the electrical signal controlling the heartbeat is blocked, or partially blocked, <a href="https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/17056-heart-block" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Cleveland Clinic. This can cause dizziness, fainting, tiredness, and shortness of breath.
Some had <a href="https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-faa-pilots-heart-covid-373861551871" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speculated</a> that the new parameters might be linked to COVID vaccination. According to Johnson, a representative from the FAA told him last week that “the change has nothing to do with Covid vaccinations.” 
“New scientific evidence enabled the FAA to safely raise the tolerance used to screen for a certain heart condition. The update was an effort to save pilots the expense of an unnecessary cardiac evaluation that did not contribute to a fly or no-fly decision,” the FAA rep said. 
Yet Johnson said in the letter that “questions still remain regarding the FAA’s decision to issue this change and its awareness of adverse events connected to the COVID-19 vaccines.”
Johnson’s letter also included a list of five pilots who he said had adverse events related to COVID vaccination. The reported reactions of the pilots included erratic heart rate, chest pain, and high blood pressure. 
“It remains unclear what, if anything, the FAA has done as it relates to these individuals’ experiences or if it is actively monitoring COVID-19 vaccine adverse events in the aviation industry,” Johnson wrote. 
The senator later asked the officials if they were aware of any pilots who had &#8220;COVID-19 vaccine adverse effects,&#8221; or were investigating any incidents of adverse effects. 
The FAA <a href="https://www.faa.gov/newsroom/pilots-and-air-traffic-controllers-may-receive-pfizer-covid-19-vaccine-appropriate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> on December 12, 2020 that it had “determined that pilots may receive the vaccine under the conditions of their FAA-issue airman medical certification.” Johnson asked for records on how this decision was made. 
Johnson, who has been <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/581360-youtube-temporarily-suspends-johnsons-channel-over-covid-19-misinformation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspended</a> from YouTube in the past for vaccine “misinformation,” wants a response to his inquiry by February 10.

John Paul Mac Isaac was an introverted Delaware computer repair man until his life was destroyed for trying to do the right thing, with authorities thwarting or ignoring him at every turn, he said in a <a href="https://www.amazon.com/American-Injustice-Battle-Expose-Truth/dp/1637586841/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">book released Tuesday</a>. &#8220;&#8216;If you see something, say something&#8217;, we&#8217;re told. I did see something, and I did say something. I was vilified for it,&#8221; he wrote.
Mac Isaac said that a boozy Hunter Biden dropped off three laptops for repair on April 12, 2019, and agreed to pay $85 to recover files from one of them, whose password was something like &#8220;analf&#8212;69.&#8221; The now-First Son came back a few days later to bring an external drive, then never responded to the call informing him that the recovery was complete.
Mac Isaac immediately saw homemade porn littering the desktop, along with financial records detailing millions of dollars in foreign transactions. He wanted nothing to do with a political scandal, but he figured it would be a moot point, as Joe Biden seemed too old to advance in the Democratic primary.
But when then-President Donald Trump was subjected to impeachment proceedings related to his allegedly pressuring Ukraine president to investigate the Biden family&#8217;s business dealings there, Mac Isaac sensed injustice. &#8220;I was sitting on evidence that could exonerate the president and justify his actions. Whether you like a person or not, everyone is entitled to a fair trial,&#8221; he wrote. And under his contract, abandoned property legally became his.
Reviewing the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-biden-laptop-reveals-disturbing-information-about-presidents-son-underage-relative" target="_blank" rel="noopener">laptop&#8217;s contents</a>, Mac Isaac had seen that in 2014, Hunter and his business partner Devon Archer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hunter-bidens-laptop-documents-at-least-459-legal-violations-watchdog-group-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plotted</a> a business venture in Ukraine that overlapped with U.S. actions. They discussed buying burner phones at a 7-Eleven. On April 16, 2014, Vice President Biden met with Archer at the White House. Five days later, the vice president traveled to Ukraine. The day after that, Archer was awarded a position on the board of directors of the country&#8217;s oil and gas firm Burisma, with Hunter joining weeks later, &#8220;to the tune of $1,295,000 each,&#8221; Mac Isaac wrote. The computer&#8217;s contents also showed Hunter telling his daughter that unlike his father, he wouldn&#8217;t make her give him half the money she earned.

Vadym Pozharskyi, Burisma&#8217;s number-two official, wasted no time in asking for Hunter and Archer&#8217;s &#8220;advice on how you could use your influence to convey a message/signal, etc, to stop what we consider to be politically motivated actions&#8221; related to an investigation into Burisma, he wrote. On April 17, Pozharskyi &#8220;thanked Hunter for the opportunity to meet his father,&#8221; he wrote.
Hunter and Archer hired a company called Blue Star Strategies &#8220;to perform the heavy lifting between Burisma and the White House,&#8221; and Blue Star began providing Burisma with sensitive executive-branch information, Mac Isaac wrote. In December 2015, Joe Biden visited Ukraine and threatened to withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees unless the prosecutor who had investigated Burisma was fired.
Mac Isaac became convinced that federal authorities needed to see what was on the hard drive, but he was concerned about bringing it to Delaware-based agents because of the Bidens&#8217; sway. His father was a former Air Force colonel who had spent time at the CIA, so on October 9, 2019, the elder Mac Isaac flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico to deliver a copy of the drive to an FBI field office there. But the agent refused to accept it, instead grilling Mac Isaac&#8217;s father on whether the computer repairman might have broken the law, he wrote.
&#8220;I consulted with a regional legal officer, and he suggested you should get a lawyer,&#8221; the FBI agent said, according to Mac Isaac. &#8220;You better lawyer up and don&#8217;t talk to anyone about this&#8230; I don&#8217;t have anything else for you, and the door is on the left.&#8221;
In November 2019, Special Agent Joshua J. Wilson of the FBI&#8217;s Baltimore/Wilmington division contacted the Mac Isaacs. Impeachment hearings were under way in the Senate. On November 19, 2019, Wilson and another agent with the last named DeMeo visited Mac Isaac&#8217;s apartment. Mac Isaac printed out key emails and slid them to the agents, saying &#8220;This collection of emails shows preferred access to the State Department as well as the vice president&#8217;s travel schedule, all sent to private Ukrainian citizens.&#8221;
&#8220;Have you spoken with anyone else about this?&#8221; Wilson asked, according to Mac Isaac. The agents left without taking the emails — taking only the contract that showed whether Mac Isaac was the legal owner of the laptop, he wrote.
On December 9, 2019, they showed up with a subpoena to take the original laptop computer, instead of taking a cloned copy as originally discussed. On their way out, DeMeo allegedly remarked, &#8220;It is our experience that nothing ever happens to people that don&#8217;t talk about these things.&#8221;
They said they were taking the physical computer so the FBI&#8217;s top computer experts could assess it. But someone named Matt soon called with the most basic questions about how to read a Mac hard drive. And he was attempting to boot up the operating system directly, which could spoil the intact nature of the evidence. Mac Isaac said they could come back to the shop so he could show them how to recover a hard drive. DeMeo was standing in the room with Matt. &#8220;Absolutely not. We&#8217;re done; hang up,&#8221; Mac Isaac heard him say, according to the book.
&#8220;I sat back and pondered the multitude of possible reasons these FBI agents had chosen to give the laptop to someone who clearly knew very little about computers,&#8221; he wrote. The weeks passed, and Trump&#8217;s impeachment proceeded, with the laptop still unknown to the world.
Mac Isaac was just an ordinary person with no experience dealing with the media, politicians or government. With no movement from the FBI, his father tried to get it to the offices of Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and Rep. Jim Jordan, but got no bite, he said.
Mac Isaac sent a tip to Sen. Ron Johnson&#8217;s office, and received back only an unsigned note that asked a few terse questions that seemed to probe into his own actions more than the substance of the laptop. Johnson&#8217;s office then leaked Mac Isaac&#8217;s identity to investigative reporter John Solomon without his consent, he claimed. When Mac Isaac pressed for a substantive conversation with a Johnson aide, the aide called and said that two National Security Administration officials were also on the line, who proceeded to take over the call and grill Mac Isaac about his own actions — such as asking if he had ever been to Russia — again with little interest in the hard drive itself, Mac Isaac claimed. (Johnson&#8217;s office did not return a request for comment from The Daily Wire.)

It was not lost on Mac Isaac that the Trump impeachment trial revolved around a whistleblower whose identity had been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/facebook-whistleblower-leftist-activist-lawyer-ukraine-impeachment?itm_source=parsely-api" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruthlessly shielded</a> — with social media blocking his name and major media avoiding reporting it, even though some outlets reported that the whistleblower was a former aide to Joe Biden who would have had a clear agenda. &#8220;Why was I being made to feel so guilty by the people I was trying to help, for doing the right thing?&#8221; he wrote.
Mac Isaac ultimately took the drive to Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump, as a last resort. Robert Costello, who worked for Giuliani, promptly responded to a tip and asked him to FedEx a copy of the drive on August 27, 2020. Costello immediately began going through it.
Through Giuliani, the New York Post obtained access to the laptop, leading to a story that landed on October 14, 2020. The Post neglected to redact the address of Mac Isaac&#8217;s store, leading to a glut of threats and vandalism.
Mac Isaac hoped that, with Giuliani briefing him based on the contents of the hard drive, Trump would bring the truth to America in the presidential debate. But Trump failed to clearly communicate what was on the laptop, Mac Isaac said.
To suppress the Post story, former intelligence operatives traded on their credentials to push a storyline that suggested that the kilt-wearing Scotsman with albinism was actually a Russian agent. &#8220;Did they actually think I&#8217;d come to Wilmington ten years earlier and opened up a Mac repair business as a cover, just waiting for an intoxicated <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/collections/the-hunter-biden-files" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter</a> to one day stumble in with a damaged laptop?&#8221; he wrote.
The day after the election, he closed down his business and left the state. &#8220;I felt like I was being punished for having done the right thing. As if the powers that be were setting an example for others who might have the same notion,&#8221; he wrote.

Republican Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron Johnson</a> has defeated Democratic candidate Mandela Barnes in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin">Wisconsin</a> Senate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2022-election">election</a>, according to a projection from DecisionDeskHQ.
Decision Desk made the <a href="https://twitter.com/DecisionDeskHQ/status/1590243871685910528">projection</a> at 2:23 a.m. EST on Wednesday. Hours later, other outlets projected Johnson as the winner as the Republican was ahead by just over 27,000 votes out of over 2.5 million ballots cast.
Prior to most outlets calling the race, Johnson declared victory saying that it was not mathematically possible for Barnes to make up the difference.
&#8220;The corporate media is refusing to call a race that is over,&#8221; he tweeted. &#8220;Truth has prevailed over lies and the politics of personal destruction.&#8221;
Barnes conceded the race Wednesday saying that he was &#8220;disappointed,&#8221; but that he had &#8220;fought the good fight.&#8221;
Polls for the race, which was one of the most closely watched midterm races, <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/senate/wi/wisconsin_senate_johnson_vs_barnes-7758.html">flipped</a> in the months leading up to the election with Barnes leading in many polls early in the summer, but Johnson jumping into the lead during the fall. 
The Wisconsin race was seen as critical for both parties, with it being a must-hold seat for Republicans to have a chance to gain control of the chamber, which is deadlocked at 50-50. Democrats saw the seat as a possibility to build on the technical majority they held with Vice President Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes. 
During the campaign, Johnson focused on inflation and crime, accusing Barnes of being soft on law and order and pointing to his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senate-candidate-critical-of-over-bloated-police-budgets-has-expensive-police-security-bill">links</a> to groups that support defunding the police. Republicans in the state also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-senate-candidate-who-posed-with-abolish-ice-t-shirt-under-scrutiny-for-immigration-positions">pointed</a> to a photo of Barnes holding an “Abolish ICE” T-shirt, though Barnes’ campaign claimed he did not support ending the immigration enforcement agency. 
Johnson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-political-exercise-ron-johnson-say-democrats-are-using-jan-6-hearings-to-distract-from-policy-failures">told</a> The Daily Wire in July that he expected the race to come down to the wire and said Republicans would focus on stopping the “Biden agenda that is destroying our country” if they should take power.
The Wisconsin Republican has been a favorite target of many on the Left, as he has been a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/troubling-track-record-ron-johnson-questions-youtube-over-covid-censorship">frequent</a> critic of tech censorship, gone after Hunter Biden, and promoted alternative treatments for COVID. 
Throughout the campaign, Barnes, Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor, portrayed himself as a progressive who touted <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/aoc-makes-endorsement-in-senate-race-crucial-for-majority">endorsements</a> from far-Left figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT). 
He made abortion a centerpiece of his campaign, pledging to fight for “reproductive justice” and cited his mother as an example of a woman who needed to have an abortion. 
“I’m an only child, but I’m not my mother’s only pregnancy. Before I was born, my mother had a complicated pregnancy, and she had an abortion. She shared her story because she wanted others to know that they aren’t alone and then it was her decision to make,” Barnes <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/only-child-senate-candidate-defends-abortion-says-mother-had-one-before-he-was-born">said</a> during a debate with Johnson. 
Barnes has criticized Johnson, 67, a former plastics company executive, for his wealth and took aim at the Republican over the January 6 Capitol riot. 
During the campaign, the lieutenant governor came under scrutiny for his stance toward ICE and the police, his expensive security detail, and <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democratic-senate-candidate-mandela-barnes-repeatedly-criticized-police-russian-propaganda-outlet">appearances</a> on Russian television where he criticized the police. 
His path to the Democratic nomination was ensured after his major opponents, including Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry and State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski dropped out before the primary. Both Democrats endorsed Barnes following the suspension of their campaigns.

Barnes, who has featured his mother in previous campaign ads, made the statement during a Friday evening debate in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/milwaukee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Milwaukee</a>, where he faced off against Johnson — who has taken the lead in several recent polls in the purple state. 
&#8220;I&#8217;m an only child, but I&#8217;m not my mother&#8217;s only pregnancy. Before I was born, my mother had a complicated pregnancy, and she had an abortion. She shared her story because she wanted others to know that they aren&#8217;t alone and then it was her decision to make,&#8221; he <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/campaigns/five-takeaways-first-wisconsin-senate-debate-ron-johnson-mandela-barnes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. 
Johnson, who is pro-life, responded by saying that Barnes supports abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. 
“The most extreme position here would be no limits on abortion whatsoever,&#8221; the incumbent Republican said. &#8220;Allowing abortion right up to the moment of birth, which is what the lieutenant governor supports.”
Barnes had attacked Johnson for his support for the Supreme Court Decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/roe-v-wade" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Roe v. Wade</a> and effectively returned abortion legislation back to the states. 
The two candidates also sparred over crime at the debate, which was hosted by the Wisconsin Broadcast Association. Johnson said that Barnes was soft on crime and pointed to his association with groups and individuals who support defunding the police, though Barnes has denied he supports the movement. 
“The first thing you do is support law enforcement and unfortunately the lieutenant governor has not done that,&#8221; Johnson <a href="https://fox11online.com/news/state/mandela-barnes-ron-johnson-republican-democratic-first-debate-wisconsin-broadcasters-association-milwaukee-senate-senator-abortion-crime-inflation-lieutenant-governor">said</a>. &#8220;He has a record of wanting to defund the police. He says it pains him to see fully funded police budgets.”
Barnes responded by claiming that Johnson had “supported” the January 6 Capitol riot. 
The debate mirrored the strategies taken by the candidates on the campaign trail, with Barnes attempting to motivate Democrats over abortion issues and Johnson emphasizing crime. 
Polling has flipped in recent weeks, with Johnson jumping into the lead after trailing Barnes for much of the early polling with just weeks to go before the election. Johnson <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-political-exercise-ron-johnson-say-democrats-are-using-jan-6-hearings-to-distract-from-policy-failures" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Daily Wire in June that he expects the race to come down to the wire, saying that his race was “crucial to stop the Biden agenda.”

Senator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-johnson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron Johnson</a> (R-WI) sent a letter to the CEO of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/youtube" target="_blank" rel="noopener">YouTube</a> this week asking for information on the company’s “troubling track record” of censorship. 
Johnson, who has been suspended twice from YouTube, is demanding that YouTube turn over documents and emails pertaining to his suspensions and the formation of the tech giant’s COVID misinformation policy. 
“YouTube has displayed a troubling track record of censoring a sitting United States Senator, the proceedings of the United States Senate, journalists that interview me, and the display of data that is entirely generated from U.S. government health agencies,” Johnson wrote in a <a href="https://www.ronjohnson.senate.gov/services/files/24293888-95D8-4F5D-9670-E9380CAF1789" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wisconsin</a> senator, a frequent critic of big tech companies, has also been vocal about his support of potential alternatives treatments for COVID and his opposition to vaccine mandates.  
“Your company has suspended me twice for advocating for the early treatment of COVID-19, opposing vaccine mandates for children and workers, and advocating for the vaccine injured,” he said in his letter. 
In June 2021, Johnson had his channel <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/youtube-bans-republican-senator-for-discussing-covid-19-treatment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspended</a> for a week for suggesting that hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin might be effective drugs to combat COVID. At the time, YouTube did not allow claims that said either of the two drugs were “effective treatments for COVID-19.”

“Once again Big Tech is censoring the truth,” he stated after his account was handed a one-week suspension. “Why won’t they let the vaccine injured tell their stories and medical experts give a second opinion? Why can’t we discuss the harmful effects of mandates?”
Fellow Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/im-not-sure-when-youtube-became-an-arm-of-the-government-rand-paul-slaps-back-after-youtube-suspension" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clashed</a> with YouTube over its policies regarding what it deems to be misinformation. Paul was given a suspension on the platform after he posted a video where he voiced skepticism about masks. 
“I’m not sure when YouTube became an arm of the government, and I’m not really sure it’s good for journalism to also be an arm of the government without any repercussions or push back,” the Kentucky Senator said after his suspension.
In his letter to YouTube, Johnson also says that the company should have flagged President Biden for misinformation regarding several of his claims about COVID, but that the company never did. 
Johnson asked the company that it responds to him with the requested materials by October 5.

This week, PolitiFact dinged Republicans for a “mostly false” statement in an ad that says Barnes supports abolishing ICE despite the fact that the self-described progressive has been photographed holding an “ABOLISH ICE” T-shirt in the past.
“There is a photo of Barnes holding an ‘Abolish ICE’ T-shirt, but he has said was holding it in solidarity with immigrants who were being separated from children at the border,” PolitiFact <a href="https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/aug/29/national-republican-senatorial-committee/barnes-does-not-support-abolish-ice-movement/?cid=twitter_PolitiFactWisc">wrote</a> in its evaluation of the ad.

The fact checking organization said that said Republican criticism of Barnes over his position on ICE was “off the mark,” citing campaign denials and that he had proposed less extreme reforms in the past.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) had run an ad saying that Barnes “supported abolishing ICE,” highlighting the possible links between Barnes and the radical movement.
During his campaign for lieutenant governor in 2018, Barnes posed while holding an “ABOLISH ICE” T-shirt and <a href="https://twitter.com/TheOtherMandela/status/1014721172729102336">replied</a> to an activist with the Democratic Socialists of America on Twitter, saying that he wanted to get a T-shirt with a similar moniker on it. When questioned about the controversy, his team has denied any support for the movement.
“The Lt. Governor has been crystal clear that he does not support abolishing ICE,” said Barnes spokeswoman Maddy McDaniel.
Anna Kelly, the communications director for Republican Tim Michels’ gubernatorial campaign, called the fact check “ridiculous.”
“This may be the most ridiculous @PolitiFactWisc hack piece I&#8217;ve ever seen, which says a lot,” she tweeted. “So according to them, he&#8217;s holding a shirt promoting a movement he doesn&#8217;t support out of ‘solidarity’?”
Despite the denial of support for abolishing ICE, Barnes has remained critical of the agency and been vocal about working on “comprehensive” immigration reform.
“I am not a part of the Abolish ICE movement because no one slogan can capture all the work we have to do,” he <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/investigations/daniel-bice/2022/02/15/mandela-barnes-backs-away-two-unpopular-far-left-causes/6785895001/">told</a> the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But I do support comprehensive reform in our immigration agencies that protect our borders while establishing a pathway to citizenship and ensuring no one coming to this country has to experience traumas like family separation.”
Barnes has also been embraced by far-Left politicians like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

However, a spokeswoman for the Barnes campaign said in February that he had not necessarily endorsed the positions of the groups supporting him.
“These groups are endorsing the lieutenant governor, not the other way around,” said Maddy McDaniel.
Barnes’ opponent, incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has been endorsed by the <a href="https://www.wispolitics.com/2022/johnson-campaign-national-border-patrol-council-endorses-johnson/">National Border Patrol Council</a> and has made border security one of his key issues as senator.

Ron Johnson</a> (R-WI) that FBI brass told agents they would not allow a laptop probe to influence the presidential election. Revelations from the abandoned laptop, which were also squelched by social media companies and liberal news outlets, paint the president’s son as a drug-addled, venal degenerate and raise troubling questions about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/joe-biden-spoke-with-hunter-about-dealings-with-chinese-oil-tycoon-voicemail-reveals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Joe Biden’s own role in his son’s corrupt dealings</a>.

Johnson described the whistleblowers as &#8220;individuals with knowledge of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hatchet-men-pursuing-political-agenda-why-the-fbi-is-due-for-radical-reform" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI’s apparent corruption</a>” who had reached out to his office. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), has said at least 14 <a href="https://republicans-judiciary.house.gov/press-release/jim-jordan-explains-the-14-fbi-whistleblowers-frankly-we-anticipate-more/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">whistleblowers</a> from within the FBI have contacted his office with information about the bureau’s handling of the investigations of conservative parents pressing for local school board reforms and the January 6 Capitol riot.
The laptop, which Hunter Biden abandoned at a computer repair shop, is believed to have been in the possession of the FBI since late 2019, more than a year before the election. The New York Post broke the story several weeks before the election, and other conservative media outlets followed suit with stories about the lurid photos, messages and videos on the laptop. But the liberal media, including The New York Times and Washington Post, dismissed the story as “Russian disinformation,” and Twitter even banned the New York Post for reporting on it.
Since then, those same media outlets have acknowledged the authenticity of the laptop, which contains photos of Hunter Biden naked and smoking crack, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/vindictive-moron-vile-texts-reportedly-show-hunter-bidens-disdain-for-first-lady-jill-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unseemly discussions about his family</a> and sexual activities, and references to the role of “the Big Guy” in corrupt dealings with foreign entities. The “Big Guy” has been named by former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/death-row-or-wanted-for-murder-the-cursed-lives-of-hunter-bidens-associates" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunter Biden associate Tony Bobulinski</a> as Joe Biden.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christopher-wray" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI Director Christopher Wray</a> told lawmakers earlier this month that he could not comment on what, if anything, the bureau is doing regarding the laptop. But he said he found reports that the bureau refused to pursue a laptop investigation ahead of the election &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-head-wray-found-reports-on-improperly-dismissed-hunter-biden-info-deeply-troubling" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deeply troubling</a>.&#8221;
Johnson called on Horowitz to investigate why the bureau, which is part of the DOJ, has apparently refused to investigate the laptop.
&#8220;I hope you understand that the longer your office stands on the sidelines and delays investigating the FBI&#8217;s actions, the harder it will be for you to uncover the truth and hold individuals accountable for wrongdoing,&#8221; Johnson wrote. &#8220;The American people deserve transparency and expect allegations of government corruption to be fully and immediately investigated.&#8221;
Last month, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/highly-credible-fbi-whistleblowers-describe-concerted-effort-to-scuttle-negative-hunter-biden-stories-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/republican-party">Republican</a> members of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/congress">Congress</a> blasted a plan from President <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a> to cancel $10,000 in <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/student-loans" target="_blank" rel="noopener">student loans</a> per borrower, arguing that the move benefits wealthy elites at the expense of middle America.
The White House’s plan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-biden-announces-details-of-student-loan-cancellation-plan">applies</a> to individuals earning less than $125,000 per year, while those who paid for college using Pell Grants are eligible for a $20,000 loan cancellation. Biden also decided to extend the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nationwide-pause-on-student-loan-debt-set-to-expire-biden-officials-expected-to-update-borrowers-soon">pause</a> on federal student loan repayment to January 2023 and will permit borrowers with undergraduate loans to cap payments at 5% of monthly income.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said in a statement that the commander-in-chief’s “student loan socialism” is “astonishingly unfair.”
“The median American with student loans already has a significantly higher income than the median American overall,” the lawmaker noted. “President Biden’s inflation is crushing working families, and his answer is to give away even more government money to elites with higher salaries. Democrats are literally using working Americans’ money to try to buy themselves some enthusiasm from their political base.”
“Grossly unfair to families who didn’t send their kids to college or managed to pay off their student debt,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) added. “Democrats have become the party of the elite.”
Biden’s move to eliminate $10,000 of debt per borrower would cost $298 billion in 2022 and a total of $329 billion by 2031 should the policy be renewed every year, according to a nonpartisan <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-student-loan-cancellation-would-cost-330-billion-and-largely-help-the-wealthy">analysis</a> from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, which also indicated that 42% of the benefit from the policy would reach those earning more than $82,400 per year.
“President Biden’s decision to waive student loan debt will increase inflation and is another gift to the rich,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) remarked. “Tennesseans should not be forced to pay for coastal elites to get their PhD in gender studies.”
Beyond predominantly benefiting wealthier individuals, 59% of Americans are concerned that student debt cancellation “will make inflation worse,” according to a new survey from <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/22/americans-are-concerned-student-loan-forgiveness-will-worsen-inflation.html">CNBC</a>. While 30% said that no student debt cancellation should occur, only 19% of adults between 18 and 34 years old maintain such a position.
“President Biden isn’t ‘canceling’ debt, he’s shifting it onto everyone, including the majority of Americans who chose not to get a degree,” Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) observed. “This will make inflation worse, and we should focus on getting more value out of colleges rather than giving them a reason to hike prices.”
Indeed, the Wharton analysts noted that a permanent loan cancellation announcement could lead students to “eventually reorganize their financing toward additional borrowing.” Although the policy may also increase access to higher education among students who would not otherwise be able to afford degrees, universities themselves could capture the added value “in the form of higher prices” as they raise tuition.
“President Biden’s plan to cancel student debt is no compassionate ‘freebie’ for Americans,&#8221; Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) said. He called the move an “economic burden placed on lower and middle class families in the midst of a recession.”
Average private university tuition is currently $43,775, and average in-state public university tuition is $11,631, according to data from <a href="https://www.usnews.com/education/best-colleges/paying-for-college/articles/2017-09-20/see-20-years-of-tuition-growth-at-national-universities">U.S. News and World Report</a>.

Nearly 8 in 10 Americans believe that there is a two-tiered system of justice in the United States, according to a new poll.
The &#8220;<a href="https://www.thetrafalgargroup.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/COSA-JusticeSystem-Full-Report-0729.pdf">National Issues Survey</a>&#8221; of more than 1,000 likely 2022 general election voters, conducted between July 24-28 by the Trafalgar Group in partnership with Convention of States Action, found that 79.3% of Americans believe that the United States has a two-tiered justice system, with one set of laws for political insiders and another for average Americans. Notably, large majorities in both parties agreed with the idea.
The survey asked respondents: &#8220;What is your opinion of the current state of the American justice system?&#8221; Nearly 8 in 10 Americans, 79.3%, responded that &#8220;[t]here are two tiers of justice in the American justice system: one set of laws for politicians and Washington D.C. insiders vs. one set of laws for everyday Americans.&#8221; Just 11.6% of respondents answered that &#8220;there is one system of justice with laws applied to all Americans equally.&#8221; Another 9.1% of American were unsure.
Breaking the results down by party, the survey found that strong majorities of both parties, and independents, believed in a two-tiered justice system.
Fully two-thirds of Democrats, 66.7%, said they believed the United States has a two-tiered system of justice; just 17.5% of respondents said they thought there was just one justice system applied equally to all Americans; 9% were not sure. Nearly 9 out of 10 Republicans, 87.8%, said the U.S. has a two-tiered justice system; just 6.9% said there was one justice system applied equally; 5.3% were not sure. Among those who had no party affiliation, more than three quarters, 77.2%, said there was a two-tiered justice system in America; 13.8% said there was one justice system applied equally; 9% were unsure.
“What we’re seeing reflected strongly in these numbers is the sentiment that ‘There is no equal justice in America’ has become an almost universally-held opinion,&#8221; Convention of States President Mark Meckler said in a <a href="https://conventionofstates.com/nearly-80-believe-the-u-s-now-has-two-separate-justice-systems-one-for-dc-insiders-and-one-for-everyday-americans">statement</a> responding to the survey. &#8220;But it’s not just opinion, it’s fact. And it’s a dangerous fact in our Constitutional Republic, one which requires mostly voluntary compliance with the rule of law to succeed. In a system where those in government get away with virtually anything, why should anyone follow the law? Until public servants are once again held accountable for their misdeeds, the distrust of and disdain for government officials will continue to grow in a dangerous manner. Perhaps early Americans had the right idea when they publicly tarred and feathered officials who abused their positions. Fear of getting caught and being held accountable is a necessary component for a successful system of public service.”
The survey comes just one day after the FBI conducted a raid on former President Donald Trump&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-fbi-raids-trumps-home-at-mar-a-lago">Mar-a-Lago</a> estate. The raid prompted backlash from Republicans in Congress, who cited it as evidence of the two-tiered system of justice in America.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wisconsin">Wisconsin</a> Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes (D) has racked up over half a million dollars in security costs in two years, according to public records. 
According to records <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/wisconsin-dem-senate-candidate-spent-nearly-600k-police-detail-cozying-defund-police-movement">obtained</a> by Fox News, state taxpayers footed a $587,281 security bill for Barnes, who is now running for the Democratic nomination to unseat incumbent Sen. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-johnson">Ron Johnson</a> (R-WI) in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/2022-election">November</a>. Barnes, who says he does not support defunding the police, has received support from groups and leaders critical of law enforcement. 
Barnes was provided with a police detail for 8,868 regular hours, 4,900 of overtime hours, and 203 holiday hours, Fox News reported. The money was spent on security for Barnes over a period of almost two years, from January 7, 2019 until November 6, 2021. 
This hefty price tag for Barnes&#8217; security was larger than his predecessor, Rebecca Kleefisch, who is now running for the Republican nomination for governor. During his first two months in Madison, he had nine times more hours of security protection than Kleefisch did in her last year in office, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/2a8e4fcd97a247de8a501d195e21c5a8">according to</a> the Associated Press. 
State officials at the time said the increase was a decision of the Wisconsin State Patrol, while Wisconsin Republican Party spokesman Charles Nichols accused Barnes of using “the State Patrol as his own personal chauffeur service.”
The Daily Wire reached out to the Barnes campaign for comment. 
The Senate candidate has faced <a href="https://archive.ph/F74Ev">scrutiny</a> over his positions on law enforcement because of the leftist groups backing his campaign and his ties to politicians like Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). 
In 2020, he <a href="https://pbswisconsin.org/news-item/noon-wednesday-communities-chart-course-to-address-racism/">criticized</a> “over bloated budgets in police departments” and was photographed in 2018 holding a “Abolish ICE” shirt. Barnes has said that he does not support defunding the police, but his ties to Left-wing groups remain.
&#8220;Not completely done away with. We need to invest more in neighborhood services and programming for our residents, for our communities on the front end. Where will that money come from? Well, it can come from over bloated budgets in police departments,&#8221; Barnes said during an interview with PBS Wisconsin when asked if he agreed with completely defunding police departments.

On Wednesday, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/united-states">United States</a> Senate passed a bill subsidizing semiconductors that proponents say will allow America to compete with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/china">China</a> while bolstering supply chains, but critics warn the legislation is nothing more than <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/economy">corporate welfare</a>.
The Senate <a href="https://money.usnews.com/investing/news/articles/2022-07-27/majority-of-u-s-senate-backs-bill-boosting-chipmakers-to-compete-with-china">passed</a> the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science act in a bipartisan vote of 64-33. The bill will dedicate $52 billion in government subsidies for computer chip-making companies, alongside $24 billion in tax credits, while putting forth $170 billion in scientific research over the next five years. Folks like Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) argue that the bill is a complete waste of taxpayer money.
“It makes no sense whatsoever,” Johnson <a href="https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/2022/07/27/wisconsin-ron-johnson-votes-no-measure-boost-u-s-made-semiconductor-chips/10156283002/">said</a> in an interview. “We have more than enough money sloshed around the economy to invest in semiconductor manufacturing here. It’s about aligning the incentives properly. We’re not looking at that at all. We’re just throwing more money at the problem, which is what Washington does.&#8221;
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) also criticized the bill, arguing that it favors folks at the top of the economic food chain by taxing those making less.

Why we would want to take money away from them and give it to the wealthy is beyond my ability to fathom.&#8221;
On Wednesday, Lee tweeted, &#8220;Next time you file your taxes remember the Senate just voted to give $75 billion to huge chip manufacturers—regardless of whether they use that money in the USA.&#8221;

Lee&#8217;s counterpart, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), praised the bill for boosting global competition with the Chinese Communist Party.
&#8220;Remaining competitive with China is critical to our security and economic well-being,&#8221; Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) <a href="https://twitter.com/SenatorRomney/status/1552342653672595456?s=20&amp;t=tDMX5TddJDS4uD46ZVjQFA">tweeted</a> on Wednesday. &#8220;Proud to join my colleagues in passing a package of China bills that will promote innovation, foster scientific talent, expand research, and break our dependence on China for microchips.&#8221;
Yet Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) condemned the plan, noting that the tech companies which would receive government funding have been raking in billions in recent years.

Advocates of the spending hailed it for protecting national security and giving our economy a boost.
&#8220;This legislation is going to create good paying jobs, it will alleviate supply chains, it will help lower costs, and it will protect America’s national security interests,&#8221; Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) <a href="https://money.usnews.com/investing/news/articles/2022-07-27/majority-of-u-s-senate-backs-bill-boosting-chipmakers-to-compete-with-china">said</a> in a statement.
Republican Senator John Cornyn (TX) also praised the bill.

President Joe Biden also tweeted that he and his staff took a moment to watch the Senate vote on the bill.
