The long-awaited sequel to 2006’s smash hit “The Devil Wears Prada” is getting some pushback, being accused of “blatant racism” for leaning into Asian stereotypes.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2,” starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, is getting blasted over a brief moment in a trailer. The scene introduces Andy Sachs&#8217; (Hathaway) new assistant, Jin Chao, played by Helen J. Shen, who some say is portrayed as a nerdy, socially awkward Ivy League grad.
In the trailer, Andy appears reserved upon meeting Jin, prompting the assistant to quickly rattle off her credentials.
“If you don’t want me, you can interview someone else. That’s totally fine,” Jin says. “I did go to Yale, 3.86 GPA, lead soprano of [Yale singing group] the Whiffenpoofs, and my ACT score was 36 on the very first time.”
Commenters also took issue with the way Jin donned a buttoned-up collared shirt and thick glasses, which they argue feel out of place for employees at a major fashion company.
Social media users from around the world, especially in Asian countries, expressed their frustration with the clip.
“The promotion up to this point was really great, but right before release, they suddenly hit us with blatant anti-Asian racism and flipped the car,” one user in Japan wrote in a post that’s been viewed more than 16 million times.

“We are in 2026… what made them think we’ll find this kind of racism funny,” another commenter <a href="https://x.com/kaxishk/status/2046919948384243754?s=20">said</a>. 
“Short stature, messy hair, childish clothing, big glasses, a ton of qualifications and high education and grades, servile and incompetent, a name that sounds just like &#8216;Ching Chang Chong,'&#8221; a third person echoed. “In this day and age, deliberately clipping out such a thick, over-the-top level of Asian stereotype that&#8217;s actually rare nowadays for ad use—did they judge that going full-on with the blatant discrimination would be more commercially appealing??”
As The Hollywood Reporter <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/devil-wears-prada-2-racism-backlash-asia-1236574540/">noted</a>, a lot of the widespread criticism is the result of X posts being automatically translated, meaning comments from around the world are being circulated in the United States.
However, some, including Korean-American filmmaker Joseph Kahn, said the backlash reflects a cultural misunderstanding and claims that Jin is so weird she’s cool, at least to a Gen Z audience. 
“There&#8217;s an uproar with Japanese Twitter about this Asian character. They feel she&#8217;s a caricature, which she is, but not about Asians but Gen Z. Her outfit is actually very couture in a film about fashion,” he <a href="https://x.com/JosephKahn/status/2047085534103932968?s=20">wrote</a>.
“Her glasses and hair clips are of the moment. The body shape disparity comes from Anne Hathaway who mandated there would be &#8216;diversity of sizes&#8217; which could either be taken as genuine virtue signaling or an actress wanting to be the skinniest and tallest onscreen. Nevertheless, the Asian character is being depicted as a fashionable, striver in the fashion world with typical Gen Z neurodivergency.”
&#8220;Nerds don&#8217;t exist in Gen Z because they&#8217;re all awkward freaks and all dress like Nintendo cartoons,” he concluded. “Anyway Japan, welcome to America.”

When Morris Dees, co-founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), came to speak at Claremont McKenna College in the 1990s, I was a student there. I don&#8217;t remember what he said, but I remember the gun sticking out of his sports coat. It was a .357, something Clint Eastwood would carry in Dirty Harry. We had heard that this was the man who had taken on the KKK in the heart of Alabama, and the gun made the legend real.
On Tuesday, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche announced a sweeping federal indictment against the SPLC, accusing it of funding the very terror groups it claimed to be fighting.
A federal grand jury in Montgomery, Alabama, the same city where the SPLC was founded, returned an 11-count indictment charging the organization with six counts of wire fraud, four counts of making false statements to a federally insured bank, and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. It was not the Department of Justice, not a political appointee, not a press conference, but a grand jury of American citizens that sat in judgment.
According to the indictment, between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC paid at least $3 million to eight individuals affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan, the National Socialist Movement, the United Klans of America, the Aryan-Nation-affiliated Sadistic Souls Motorcycle Club, and other white supremacist organizations. These are the very same groups the SPLC was raising hundreds of millions of dollars to destroy. The money was allegedly funneled through shell companies with names like &#8220;Fox Photography&#8221; and &#8220;Rare Books Warehouse,&#8221; and loaded onto prepaid cards to conceal its source from the financial institutions the organization used.
One recipient, identified in the indictment only as F-37, was a member of the online leadership group that organized the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. On August 12 of that year, a white nationalist named James Alex Fields Jr. drove his car into a crowd of counterprotesters. Heather Heyer, 32 years old, was killed. Dozens more were injured. Fields is now serving life in prison. F-37 helped put that rally together. He made racist postings. He coordinated transportation for attendees. He did all of this, according to the indictment, at the direction of the Southern Poverty Law Center. And from 2015 to 2023, the SPLC paid him roughly $270,000, all while publicly condemning the very event he helped organize.
&#8220;The SPLC was not dismantling these groups,&#8221; Blanche said. &#8220;It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred.”
FBI Director Kash Patel put it simply: &#8220;The money never lies, and they got caught.”
Nothing has been proven yet. The SPLC will have its day in court. Its interim CEO has called the charges false and politically motivated. The organization says the payments were part of a confidential informant program designed to gather intelligence on violent groups, and that the program&#8217;s secrecy was necessary to protect those informants. Those are defenses a jury will evaluate.
But what strikes me most about this indictment is not the fraud itself. It is the why behind it. Why would an organization founded to fight racism need to pump up racism? Why manufacture the very evil you claim to oppose?
The answer is white guilt. And to understand it, you have to understand what white guilt actually is.
White guilt is not a feeling. Most people treat it as one, rejecting it with some variation of “I never owned slaves.” Both responses describe an emotion. Both miss the mechanism entirely. You cannot feel actual guilt for sins you did not commit.
White guilt is instead the cultural and institutional atmosphere that Americans live inside, whether they feel it or not. It is the language permitted in public life and the language that ends careers. It is the criteria by which institutions measure their own virtue rather than their actual outcomes. It is the moral authority that determines whether you are on the “right side of history” or stand condemned as a racist.
My father, Shelby Steele, has spent 40 years on this question. To paraphrase him, white guilt, at its core, is the vacuum of moral authority that was created when America finally confessed to four centuries of racial evils in the 1960s. That confession ended legal discrimination. But it also left whites accused of racism, whether they had personally discriminated or simply lived in a nation that had. Even though many whites had bravely confronted these racial evils, including members of my own family, the end result was a collective loss of moral authority. They were stripped of their innocence, the very innocence that would become the most coveted thing in American institutional life to this day.
This was not innocence in the legal sense, but moral innocence, the status of being on the right side of the nation&#8217;s deepest wound. As my father wrote in his 1988 Harper&#8217;s essay, &#8220;I&#8217;m Black, You&#8217;re White, Who&#8217;s Innocent?&#8221; — &#8220;Both races instinctively understand that to lose innocence is to lose power. Now to be innocent, someone else must be guilty, a natural law that leads the races to forge their innocence on each other&#8217;s backs.”
The driving force in American society became not true compassion for the oppressed, but the desperate need to prove that you are not the oppressor. Whoever can most credibly claim innocence of the nation’s racial sins, or claim to represent those who suffered, gains the moral authority that translates into institutional power, political influence, and cultural dominance. Innocence became the currency. The SPLC understood this better than almost anyone.
The SPLC did not begin as the institution now facing these charges. Founded in 1971 in Montgomery, Alabama, by Dees and Joe Levin, with civil rights legend Julian Bond as its first president, the SPLC took on genuine fights. Growing up, my parents told me stories over the dinner table about how the organization integrated state troopers, challenged unfair electoral districts, and sued the Klan after violent attacks. That early work, using the law to make the promises of equality real, especially in the heart of the Deep South, is why I was excited to meet Dees. It makes what followed all the more devastating.
Rather than meet the post-1960s reckoning through color-blind standards, genuine accountability, and the equal application of American principles, many whites chose the easier path: the performance of perpetual atonement. Instead of investing in the genuine development of black Americans, they became professional fighters against racism, the only remaining way to purchase the innocence that the vacuum of moral authority had taken from them.
From suing real Klan violence, the SPLC institutionalized white guilt. It built a vast donor base by mapping extremists and labeling an ever-growing list of dissenters as “hate” that must be fought. Conservatives like Charlie Kirk, who never committed violence, found themselves listed alongside actual white supremacists. Far from the days of fighting the Klan, the SPLC was now slaying windmills. The mission expanded not because the threat grew, but because the machine required an enemy. The emergency could not be allowed to end.
Perhaps we should have seen this corruption earlier in 2019 when Morris Dees himself was fired. The official reason was unspecified misconduct. Staff members sent letters to management describing &#8220;decades of racial discrimination, gender discrimination, and sexual harassment&#8221; inside the organization, founded to fight those exact things. One letter was signed before Dees&#8217;s firing was announced; a second, sent after the firing, accused leadership of being &#8220;complicit in&#8221; decades of such misconduct and demanded an investigation into an alleged cover-up. An outside review was commissioned, but its conclusions were never made public.
The grift formula, once you see it, is simple. You inflate the threat, sound the alarm, position yourself as the brave slayer of hate, and collect hundreds of millions from donors desperate to feel they are on the right side of history. The donor gets innocence. The corporation gets its ESG credential. The foundation gets its social justice bona fides. And the SPLC gets paid.
Real black communities bear the cost of this bargain. Real black families in real cities, especially those in the underclass, live with the consequences of institutions more interested in the performance of anti-racism than in the far more difficult and unglamorous work of developing individuals into productive members of society. The SPLC raised hundreds of millions in the name of protecting the vulnerable. The real product here was donor innocence.
If these charges hold, this is not merely fraud. It is white guilt at its most predatory.
The vacuum of moral authority that the civil rights reckoning created was supposed to produce genuine accountability, genuine repair, genuine progress. Many Americans truly sought that. They were eventually outmaneuvered by those who saw white guilt not as a wound to be healed but as a resource to be mined. And if the grand jury&#8217;s indictment is proven true, that industry did not just fail to reduce racism. It paid racists to keep racism alive, because alive racism was worth more to the machine than a color-blind society could ever be.
But this false innocence is not a simple lie. A lie knows itself to be false. False innocence is a moral credential claimed without moral action. It is innocence purchased through performance rather than earned through character. It is the DEI certificate that substitutes for actually caring about black lives. The hate list that substitutes for actually reducing hate.
This false innocence is more than a personal corruption or failing. It has become the air that we breathe. The man who says he feels no white guilt may be telling the truth about his feelings. But ask him if he would say, openly and without hesitation, everything he actually believes about race in America. In certain rooms, in certain institutions, around certain people, he already knows the answer. The cost is real. He is living inside the world of white guilt, whether he feels it or not. The machine does not require his confession. It requires only his silence.
This is what makes false innocence genuinely evil in the precise sense. It has corrupted the conditions under which honest people can speak honestly. It has made false virtue more valuable than the actual remedies. It has turned moral authority into a commodity that the loudest performers collect and the most honest people forfeit. And when an organization like the SPLC allegedly takes that logic to its endpoint by manufacturing the very hatred it claims to fight, because hatred is the raw material the innocence machine runs on, you are looking at the very heart of the white guilt machine.
I still think about Morris Dees and his gun at Claremont McKenna. If the indictment&#8217;s allegations are proven, the gun was the whole point. The prop that made the performance credible. The danger that made the donors open their wallets. The legend that kept the white guilt machine running. The windmills had to keep turning. So someone had to be paid to tilt at them.
The SPLC&#8217;s story is not an outlier. It is white guilt in America, followed to its logical conclusion.

In August of 2017, extremists came out of the woods, carrying torches, their veins bulging from their necks, carrying Nazi swastikas, chanting the same exact antisemitic bile that was heard in Germany in the early &#8217;30s. Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan — “so emboldened by [President Trump] that they saw him as an ally.”
Those were the words of our former vegetable-in-chief, Joe Biden, who claimed the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, was the moral catalyst for his entire presidential campaign.
A federal indictment now suggests that the catalyst was manufactured, and the people who built it were the same people weeping the loudest over it.
The Justice Department has indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for purportedly funding the Unite the Right rally, assisting with its messaging and coordination, and secretly funneling over $3 million to the leaders and organizers of the very racist groups the SPLC claimed to be dismantling — among them the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Nation, and the National Alliance. Their paid informants weren&#8217;t just monitoring extremist groups; they were actively promoting them, while the SPLC simultaneously denounced those same groups in its publications and solicited donor money to fight them.
Jaw. Drop.
Yes. An organization whose stated mission was to &#8220;dismantle white supremacy and confront hate across the country&#8221; funded white supremacy and hate across the country.
The audacity is seriously breathtaking.
Not only did the Left fabricate Donald Trump&#8217;s response to Charlottesville — he did not call neo-Nazis &#8220;Very Fine People”; he explicitly said they should be &#8220;condemned, totally&#8221; — but it now appears they had a hand in orchestrating the very spectacle they used to build that lie.
To appreciate the full scope of this, we need to examine the Southern Poverty Law Center and its omnipresence in our daily lives, constantly working overtime to paint Republicans as the bad guys.
Founded in 1971 in Montgomery, Alabama, the SPLC positioned itself as the preeminent watchdog of American hate, &#8220;combating white supremacy.&#8221; A noble mission, in theory. In practice, it became something far more useful: a political targeting operation. As genuine white supremacy became an increasingly marginal force in American life — because America is, by any honest measure, not a racist country, and hasn&#8217;t been in years — the SPLC pivoted. Rather than declare victory and close up shop, it expanded its definition of &#8220;extremism&#8221; to encompass mainstream conservatism. The mission was simple: label conservatives BAD, and use that label to cut them off from corporate America.
These weren&#8217;t fringe operations, either. The SPLC worked with Amazon, PayPal, Google, Facebook, Apple, and Mastercard, among others, telling them who not to do business with — and that list included perfectly peaceful, normal conservatives. Yet all the while they were warning companies away from “neo-Nazis,” they were funding neo-Nazis. This is Aesop’s &#8220;wolf in sheep’s clothing&#8221; for our modern political era.
The informants — referred to as “field sources” or simply “Fs” — were not heroic spies. They were key players in the movements that the SPLC claimed to oppose.
Take &#8220;F-37&#8221; — secretly paid by the SPLC, a member of the online leadership chat that planned the 2017 Unite the Right event, and an attendee who went at the direct instruction of the SPLC. F-37 made racist postings and coordinated transportation to the event. The SPLC paid him more than $270,000.
F-30 led the National Socialist Party of America, was the former director of a faction of the Aryan Nations, and was a former member of the Ku Klux Klan. The SPLC even featured F-30 in their &#8220;Extremist File&#8221; on their own website — while simultaneously cutting him checks totaling more than $70,000.
F-9 was affiliated with the neo-Nazi organization the National Alliance and actively fundraised for it. He served as a paid SPLC informant for more than 20 years and was secretly paid over $1,000,000.
These findings are egregious, plentiful, and absolutely unsurprising.
From its founding, the Democratic Party defended slavery, fought its abolition, and launched the Civil War to preserve the institution. The Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an explicitly anti-slavery counterforce. Abraham Lincoln — the first Republican president — was elected on the promise of containing slavery&#8217;s expansion. Democrats smeared him, seceded from the Union, waged war against his government, and ultimately assassinated him for the crime of wanting to free black Americans. The Ku Klux Klan was founded by Democrats in Tennessee in 1866. Today, Democrats continue to fund the very groups they now pretend they never supported.
The Left has spent decades constructing elaborate historical revisionism around a so-called &#8220;party switch&#8221; — the theory that the parties essentially traded ideological identities sometime in the mid-20th century, conveniently absolving Democrats of their entire history. It is, at best, a dramatic oversimplification.
The racist Dixiecrats did not defect en masse to the Republican Party. They largely stayed put. What changed was the branding. The plantation politics of control and dependency simply modernized, metastasizing into a federal welfare apparatus that keeps constituencies loyal and politicians powerful.
Republicans were never the party of slaves. Republicans were never the party of white supremacy. Republicans ended slavery, passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, and fought Democrats&#8217; racism every single step of the way.
Why do Democrats do it? It must get exhausting, constantly rewriting history, tearing down the institutions they manipulated, and blaming every grievance in life on oppressors — when the true oppressor lies at the heart of the Donkey. 
The Left’s power is predicated on a specific narrative: that America is irredeemably racist, that Republicans are its standard-bearers, and that only Democratic governance stands between marginalized communities and existential threat. Strip away that narrative, and there is no justification for DEI mandates, race-based policy, or collectivist governance.
The reality is that America is an extraordinarily tolerant country — so they have to manufacture racism through organizations like the SPLC, to keep the fear alive, the donations flowing, and the power grab rolling.
Democrats have a lot of nerve pointing fingers from the plantation they built and never abandoned. But they can&#8217;t stop, and they won&#8217;t. They have to lie. They have to fabricate. Because it is all they have left.
Don&#8217;t fall for it. The blueprint of this particular lie is now visible in court documents. 
I wish we could all just move on and be normal Americans again. We can forgive past errors — history is messy, and both sides have stains. But I fear nothing will change until we stop letting them rewrite reality, gaslight the country, and play Big Brother with every label they slap on us.
America doesn&#8217;t have a white supremacy problem. It has a Democrats-funding-white-supremacy-groups problem, and now the receipts are in federal court.

Apparently, one of the most powerful leftist charities in the world has been donating money to groups like the Ku Klux Klan.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a left-wing agitprop organization that raises roughly $100 million every year, has been handing money to white supremacists.
Why in the world would they do that? What the hell is going on?
Let&#8217;s begin with this premise. The demand for white supremacy on the Left outstrips the supply.
What do I mean by this?
I mean that people on the Left think, broadly speaking, that Americans are horrible racists. Then they look around at the world, and it turns out that Americans are some of the least racist people in history.

Americans basically rank dead last in racism on the planet right now. If you go to any other country on planet Earth, you will notice significantly more racism than there is in the United States.
If you go to Japan, there’s a fair bit of racism, as in South Korea, as in India.
But when you come to the United States, the polls suggest that the vast majority of Americans are fine with living next to people of different races and fine with intermarrying with people of other races. We have very high rates of ethnic intermarriage in America. We are an extraordinarily tolerant and diverse people.
But for the Left to make its play for a communitarian, centralized government, they have to constantly suggest that the government must be there to ram decency and goodness down the throats of those evil racists.
And the only way that you can sell that proposition is to create a false supply of racism, which brings us to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is one of the most powerful left-wing groups in America. It&#8217;s a supposedly civil rights nonprofit originally founded in 1971, in Montgomery, Alabama. It built a reputation on using litigation and “research” — pretty shoddy “research” — to combat what they have called white supremacists and other domestic extremist groups while advocating for marginalized communities as their stated purpose. Over time, that turned into monitoring so-called extremist movements. They published a <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/resources/extremist-files/">hate group list</a>, a <a href="https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map/">hate map</a>, and they pushed programs on bias and intolerance.
This was used to mainline their intel into everything from media to education to law enforcement. The FBI, up until October 2025, was using inputs from the SPLC to determine the kinds of people to monitor.
Even in the private sector, SPLC data was being used. Amazon, under Jeff Bezos, said that it used SPLC data to decide whom to exclude from its Amazon Smile charity programs.
How prominent has the SPLC been? Since 2010, a search of The New York Times pulls up 711 instances where the SPLC is cited as an authority on hate or discrimination statistics.
They are the go-to. The New York Times sees a Jussie Smollett story, and they call up somebody from the SPLC to talk about it. There&#8217;s a Nick Fuentes story; they call the SPLC to talk about it. There&#8217;s a Charlie Kirk story, and they call the SPLC to talk about it. 
The New York Times repeatedly quoted the SPLC data in its coverage of the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where the media routinely claimed that President Trump said there were &#8220;fine people on both sides,” which was not what he actually said. They lied about that, but the “Unite the Right” rally has been the calling card for entire swaths of the Left for a very, very long time. The New York Times even quoted the SPLC leadership to provide historical context for the rise of the alt-right.
In fact, a Google Gemini search of The New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today shows that 20 to 25% of all analytical pieces on the “Unite the Right” rally referenced data or quoted directly from the SPLC.
Why is this relevant? 
It turns out that the SPLC provided some of the funding for the “Unite the Right” rally. Yesterday, the acting attorney general, Todd Blanch, announced criminal charges for the Southern Poverty Law Center. 
He said:

According to the charges in the indictment, the SPLC is a nonprofit entity that purports to fight white supremacy and racial hatred by reporting on extremist groups and conducting research to inform law enforcement groups with the goal of dismantling these groups. As the indictment describes, the SPLC was not dismantling these groups. It was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying sources to stoke racial hatred.</blockquote>
The DOJ is saying that the Southern Poverty Law Center was basically paying all sorts of white supremacists and extremists to generate more white supremacy so that they could continue fundraising.
Here&#8217;s what’s true virtually everywhere in the nonprofit world — they exist, theoretically, to solve problems. You give money to a nonprofit to solve a problem. If the problem goes away, you no longer give to that nonprofit.
Let&#8217;s say that you are the leader of a nonprofit or your leadership class of a nonprofit, and it turns out the thing you&#8217;re trying to solve has been pretty much solved in the United States — such as the “racism of the American population.”
When you launched in 1971, racism was a very, very real and ever-present part of American life. But today, racism is not even a blip on most Americans’ radar.
But you&#8217;re the Southern Poverty Law Center, and you need to raise some money.
So what do you do? You create a fake supply of white supremacy so you can go back to your donors and say, “The problem is worse than ever.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center is accused of using donor money to pay actual white supremacists.
It&#8217;s totally insane.
According to the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/federal-grand-jury-charges-southern-poverty-law-center-wire-fraud-false-statements-and">press release</a> from the Justice Department, “Between 2014 and 2023, the SPLC secretly funneled more than $3 million and donated funds to individuals were associated with various violent extremist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, National Socialist Party of America, the American Nazi Party, and Unite the Right.”
Unite the Right happens to be one that leaps off the page because the SPLC and the Left made bank off the “Unite the Right” rally for years and years and years. It was the key example they used over and over and over again to prove that the Right happened to be racist, even though the Right did not associate with the “Unite the Right” rally.
Blanche said on the Laura Ingraham Show on Tuesday that the Biden administration opened the investigation and then closed the investigation.
I wonder why.
“How did they get away with this for so long?” Ingraham asked.
“It&#8217;s a great question. I said today during the press conference that we know that this investigation was opened during the Biden administration and then mysteriously closed,” Blanche answered. “I really don&#8217;t have any information about why it was closed. And then we started again last year, the FBI did, working with the U.S. attorney in Alabama. And it&#8217;s extraordinarily egregious. You just talked about it. But imagine a donor to the SPLC, if they were told, ‘By the way, we&#8217;re going to give the money you&#8217;re giving us to the Ku Klux Klan &#8230; in some cases over $1 million.’ I mean, it&#8217;s incredible.”
We should remember the SPLC’s game was to label anyone remotely conservative an extremist.
This is the game. It does lend itself to the idea that much of what we consume in the media, on social media, and in politics is just not true. As for the “hatred” that a lot of Americans feel for other Americans, a lot of it is ginned up by groups like the SPLC.
The fakery here is quite real, and people make money off of it because the algorithm favors it. The algorithm favors amygdala-friendly responses.
The amygdala is the emotional center of your brain. It’s what responds to fear signals. The prefrontal cortex is the reasoning center of your brain, which says that the fear is not what you should be worried about. It&#8217;s not real.
The internet and virality are designed to appeal to your amygdala.
Thus, if you&#8217;re the SPLC, you say, “White supremacy is a threat to you and your family; it&#8217;s virulent, it&#8217;s violent, and it&#8217;s racist.” The whole pitch goes directly to the amygdala, because at no point does the prefrontal cortex kick in and say, “Wait, hold on, I know none of my neighbors are racist. They don&#8217;t like racism. They think it&#8217;s bad.”
But because the amygdala has kicked in, you now think worse of your neighbors, even though you have never really thought about the issue using the reasoning part of your brain.
The same is true in the algorithmic space online. There are a lot of accounts that go extremely viral because they use extraordinarily charged language, which tends to feature second-person pronouns. If I speak directly to you, the minute I say “you,” it&#8217;s probably firing up the centers in your brain that are more emotionally resonant. If I use words like “evil” or “wicked” or “soulless,” those are words that are much more likely to fire up the emotional centers of your brain than to appeal to your prefrontal cortex.
It&#8217;s a shortcut for politicians and influencers — and for groups like the SPLC. 
The more that you can use emotionally charged language that is second-person directed, the better you will do.
That&#8217;s why we all seem to be living in a world that is totally different from reality these days. The more time you spend online, the more you see this sort of stuff that is routinely retweeted and reposted, and is always deeply emotionally charged stuff.
That shtick is the entire game. And that&#8217;s why you feel alienated.
It&#8217;s why I&#8217;ve said a thousand times, and I will say it a thousand times more, that you ought to talk to your neighbors in person, because when you talk with your neighbors, your prefrontal cortex will kick in as opposed to your fear center in the amygdala.
And you might learn that the neighbor with whom you disagree about tax rates actually is not a racist.

“Saturday Night Live” mocked HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” television series over the weekend for race-swapping the villain, Severus Snape.
Paapa Essiedu, a black British actor, is set to play the role, a character described in J.K. Rowling&#8217;s books as having pale, yellow skin. 
During the &#8220;Weekend Update&#8221; segment on Saturday&#8217;s show, “SNL” cast member Kam Patterson portrayed a black version of Snape and joked about how the character might be perceived. 
“Good evening, Mr. Jost — nah, I’m playing. I don’t talk like that, bro. It’s called code-switching. Codio switchio!” Patterson said after being introduced by host Colin Jost.

Jost asked how things were going at Hogwarts, inspiring Patterson to reply, “Not great. We got this new kid. His name is Harry Potter, and he’s racist as hell. Harry Potter — or, the Proud Boy Who Lived — spent the whole year telling everybody that the school’s only black teacher was secretly evil.”
Jost interjected, “I think he’s just worried because he knows someone’s trying to steal the Sorcerer’s Stone.” 
“So somebody stole something, and the number one suspect is Black Snape? They didn’t even look at the white guy in the turban. So offensive. He’s got a wizard on the back of his head,” Patterson shot back.
“I’m really sorry that he just jumped to conclusions like that,” Jost said. 
Snape replied, “All good. It happens all the time. I showed up at Hogwarts, and on the first day, they looked at me and said, ‘You’re the professor of the Dark Arts.’ I never even studied that! I majored in African Muggle Studies.”
“The whole wizarding world is racist,” Patterson went on in the bit. “There’s one other black guy, Kingsley Shacklebolt, a name I’m guessing they got out of the Wu-Tang name generator … why they got to put ‘shackle’ in his name? That’s crazy, man. Shackle? Shackle!”
The skit went on, with a reference to Rowling being “problematic.”
Essiedu claimed that haters have been out in force since his casting for “Harry Potter” was announced. The British star <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/culture/tv-radio/article/paapa-essiedu-harry-potter-snape-interview-3hqkzzmlk">told</a> The Times last month that he’s been told, “Quit or I’ll murder you.”
“It really matters,” he says. “The reality is that if I look at Instagram I will see somebody saying, ‘I’m going to come to your house and kill you.’ …nobody should have to encounter this for doing their job. Many people put their lives on the line in their work. I’m playing a wizard in Harry Potter. And I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t affect me emotionally.”
“But the abuse fuels me,” he went on. “And makes me more passionate about making this character my own, because I think of how I felt as a kid. I would imagine myself at Hogwarts on broomsticks, and the idea that a kid like me can see themselves represented in that world? That’s motivation to not be intimidated by someone saying they’d rather I died instead of doing work I’m going to be really proud of.”

There&#8217;s a thought experiment I want you to sit with for a moment.
God forbid Barack Obama passed away — shot in front of thousands of people, the moment captured on every phone in the crowd and splashed across every screen in the country within minutes — and Michelle Obama was left to pick up the pieces, preserve his legacy, and carry the torch in the only way she knew how. Do you think you would see ultra-famous white comedians painting themselves in blackface and mocking the way she grieves? Without consequence? Without wall-to-wall outrage? No. Of course not. Because that would be racist, and it would be cruel, and everyone would say so loudly and immediately.
When the shoe is on the other foot, no one seems to care.
Druski — born Drew Desbordes — has become one of the most commercially ubiquitous comedic presences in America. The COVID-era social media comedian turned pop culture fixture hosts a satirical dating show, joined the 2026 season of The Voice, and has assembled a brand portfolio that reads like a Fortune 500 roll call: T-Mobile, Amazon, the NFL, Nike, Happy Dad Hard Seltzer, PrizePicks, Meta, NBC/Peacock, Dunkin&#8217;, and Google Pixel. He has over 20 million followers. He is everywhere.
And this week, he decided to use that platform to mock a grieving widow.
In a now-viral video, Druski appears in full whiteface — skin painted white, blonde wig, blue contacts, all-white pantsuit — complete with fireworks and dramatic stage lighting. He mocks Erika Kirk, the recently widowed CEO of Turning Point USA, for continuing to make public appearances in the wake of her husband&#8217;s assassination. He ridicules the Trump administration&#8217;s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt for offering prayers and honoring American symbols during press conferences. He depicts a blonde conservative in pink, riding with a white lap dog, singing Katy Perry&#8217;s &#8220;California Girls&#8221; on the way to a drive-through. And he lampoons Erika&#8217;s composure during a recent interview with Bari Weiss, turning grief into punchline fodder.
I&#8217;ll be honest: I barely knew who Druski was before this week. Unfortunately, I know who he is now.
Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ll give him: conservative women are not humorless. We can laugh at ourselves and take a punch. The Leavitt bit? Cheap, but fine. The drive-through? Inaccurate — the last time I heard Katy Perry sing, she was in space. But there is a line between political satire and using a widowed mother as a punchline for 80 million viewers, and Druski crossed it without flinching.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated last year in front of thousands of people, while doing the thing he loved most — talking to young people and making the case for his country. We watched it on our phones. We were horrified. Then heartbroken. Then — naively, perhaps — hopeful that the brutality of it might draw some line we could all agree not to cross. Political violence is bad. Killing people for their beliefs is wrong. Surely that much was universal.
We thought wrong. Too many on the left laughed, celebrated, and mocked the tragedy. They worked to tarnish his name before he was even buried. Jimmy Kimmel told blatant lies masquerading as jokes and was suspended for it. And now, six months later, a comedian with a nine-figure brand portfolio is degrading Charlie&#8217;s widow for daring to honor his memory — for refusing to disappear.
That&#8217;s not a comedy bit. That&#8217;s cruelty in makeup.
Druski is not some fringe provocateur. He is corporate America&#8217;s darling — the face you see when you open an app, watch a game, or scroll through your feed. So, at what point does the ubiquitous ad avatar become a liability?
This isn&#8217;t his first controversy. In September 2025, he enraged fans with a whiteface skit at a NASCAR race, portraying a caricatured &#8220;proud American&#8221; redneck. Then came the NFL Honors, where he mispronounced wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba&#8217;s name in a way that left Buckeye fans — myself included — vexed. Each time, the brands shrugged.
The Daily Wire reached out to Druski’s active brand partnerships, T-Mobile, Happy Dad, and NBC/Peacock, asking whether they intend to retain Desbordes as a brand partner in light of this content. All but T-Mobile failed to respond, offering this: &#8220;The content in question is not in any way affiliated with T-Mobile, nor is it a reflection of our brand and values.&#8221; A statement of distance — but not of severance. Druski remains their Chief Swagger Officer. NBC said nothing. He remains on The Voice.
So the answer to the question in the headline appears to be: yes, you can.
At least for now.
Grief is not a costume. A widow is not a prop. And a woman who lost her husband to a political assassination — who chooses to stay in the fight and keep his work alive — deserves more than a whiteface parody from a man who hawks hard seltzer and phone plans for a living.
Conservatives don&#8217;t expect special treatment. We just expect consistency. If mockery of grief is off-limits for certain races and certain parties, it must be off-limits for all. Until corporations decide that values actually mean something more than virality and quarterly earnings, they will keep propping up figures like Druski — who demeans the bereaved and cashes seven-figure checks for the privilege.
The brands have spoken. Or rather, they haven&#8217;t. And that silence says it all.

America’s nurses are too white and too female, according to the influential organization that purports to represent the interests of five million nurses nationwide. 
The American Nurses Association (ANA) has become fixated on race and embraced radical political ideology over the last few years, exemplified by the organization’s former president complaining about the “rows of white ladies” who head up nursing programs. The 130-year-old organization’s recent racial activism was flagged in a <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/Activism-Not-Advocacy-Report.pdf">scathing report</a>, first shared with The Daily Wire, by Do No Harm. 
The association plays a key role in advocating for nurses by increasing research and funding, carrying out workplace advocacy, and advocating for better pay for nurses. The ANA is the membership arm of the American Nurses Association Enterprise. Despite its important function, Do No Harm argues the medical body has been infected with ideology, with an acceleration around the time of the 2020 riots. 
Do No Harm argues that the organization should revert to its former focus on representing nurses rather than pushing racial politics. 
“The ANA’s descent into extremism is alarming and has contributed to the indoctrination of our nation’s most important frontline workers,” Dr. Kurt Miceli, chief medical officer at Do No Harm, told The Daily Wire. “Instead of working to train and support hardworking nurses, the ANA has dedicated time and resources to promoting the ideas of radical activists. Nursing, at its core, is a profession that seeks to serve patients with compassion and foster healing.”
One of the culprits pushing the association to embrace racial ideology was the organization’s former president, Ernest Grant, now the vice dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Duke University School of Nursing, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/ernest-grant-40725815/">according</a> to his LinkedIn. Do No Harm said that the politicization of the association increased during Grant&#8217;s leadership of the organization. 
After he was elected to head the organization, Grant said that he would be focused on encouraging “diversity in the nursing profession,” suggesting the nursing profession was too white and too female. 
“In 2015, only 19.5% of RNs in the workforce identified themselves as minorities, and only about 12% of baccalaureate and graduate nursing students in 2016 were men,” he <a href="https://www.myamericannurse.com/ana-president-ernest-grant/">said</a> in 2018. &#8220;It’s important that the nursing workforce reflects the diversity of our patient populations.”
Following the death of convicted felon George Floyd, Grant <a href="https://www.nursingworld.org/news/news-releases/2020/ana-president-condemns-racism-brutality-and-senseless-violence-against-black-communities/">said</a> that racism was a “longstanding public health crisis that impacts both mental and physical health” and that COVID impacted black people more than white people. He later <a href="https://www.nursingworld.org/news/news-releases/2021/american-nurses-association-responds-to-the-verdict-in-the-killing-of-george-floyd/">characterized</a> the unrest that followed the death of Floyd as “peaceful.” 
In an October 2021 <a href="https://www.fixinghealthcarepodcast.com/2021/10/10/fhc-38-ernest-grant/">podcast appearance</a>, Grant said that he liked to tell medical school officials to pretend to be a different race or gender to push their understanding of diversity. He also said he was “taking steps” to try to change how the nursing profession was predominantly white and female. 
He told deans and directors of nursing programs to “imagine themselves when they pull into their assigned parking space at their place of work, when they&#8217;re getting out of the car, take on another personality, take on like a person of color or another gender.”
“And as you&#8217;re walking into your building, look at what your particular school of nursing is saying to someone who may be from a different background or a different gender,” he continued. “Is it welcoming? Or do you just see rows and rows of white ladies who were deans, either they&#8217;re former deans or current deans of the program? What about your faculty? Does your faculty represent diversity? And are there people of color there? Are there men on the faculty there as well?”
“I mean, nursing is over 80% white and about 80% female, and of course, that&#8217;s what you see on TV. So, we are taking steps to try to change that by encouraging more nurses of color or people of color to go into nursing as a profession and more men as well to consider the nursing profession,” he added.
During Grant’s tenure, the American Nurses Association helped launch the National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing (NCARN) with the purpose of motivating “all nurses to confront individual and systemic racism.”
The organization <a href="https://www.nursingworld.org/practice-policy/workforce/racism-in-nursing/national-commission-to-address-racism-in-nursing/">claims</a> that “racism is historically rooted in the nursing profession and continues today.” The organization blames the number of white nurses on “actions from predominantly white groups and others who may view themselves or their group as superior” and <a href="https://www.nursingworld.org/globalassets/practiceandpolicy/workforce/commission-to-address-racism/commission-vision-mission-.pdf">alleges</a> that white nurses &#8220;are advantaged and privileged by unfair structural and systemic practices.”
To define racism, the commission <a href="https://www.nursingworld.org/globalassets/practiceandpolicy/workforce/commission-to-address-racism/final-defining-racism.pdf">relies</a> on the work of radical leftist Ibram X. Kendi, the author of the book “How To Be An Anti-Racist.” The commission produced a list of the “Top Ten Ways to be an Antiracist in Nursing,” which ironically suggests that people should stop “labeling others” and “distribute power.”

In June 2022, the American Nurses Association put out a “racial reckoning” <a href="https://www.nursingworld.org/practice-policy/workforce/racism-in-nursing/RacialReckoningStatement/">statement</a> that pledged the organization’s board of directors to “continue to reckon with and apologize for past harms that are made known to ANA,” and implement DEI analysis through all programs of the association. It said the association would continue to work with the commission to “create antiracist practices and environments,” implement DEI, and provide “transparency” to the racial makeup of the association’s leadership. 
Starting in March 2022, the ANA rolled out a series of trainings called “Equity in Action: Dismantling Racism in Nursing.” During one session, Georgetown dean of nursing Roberta Waite gave a presentation on “How do we ensure health equity in a society built on white supremacy and oppression?” Waite shared a slide placing “white supremacy” at the center of oppression surrounded by things like “capitalism,” “nationalism,” “religious supremacy,” “patriarchy,” and “heterosexual supremacy.” 
Another slide featured in her presentation included the “Intersectionality wheel of privilege.” The slide claims that white people are the most privileged in society. Waite <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG8FQZ3vzBw">claimed</a> that people in the “inner circle” of privilege have been “hypnotized” into thinking society is “merit-based.”

A separate presentation from San Diego State University assistant professor Danisha Jenkins was called “Is anti-racist care possible under capitalism?” and featured a quote from leftist Eleanor Marx, the daughter of communist Karl Marx.

“America’s nurses should have an organization that is focused on supporting their training and development as world-class health care providers, not creating a training ground for foot soldiers in a political battle,” Miceli said. 
As documented by Do No Harm, interpretive statements in the ANA’s code of ethics for nurses have been updated from 2015 to 2025 to include political language. For example, the “Respect for Human Dignity” statement was updated with language on “ableism, ageism, classism, heterosexism, sexism,” and a statement of commitment to patients asserts that states have laws  that “prohibit treatment for persons who are pregnant, undocumented, uninsured, gender diverse, or otherwise disenfranchised, marginalized, or socially stigmatized.”

While the 2015 statement contained zero references to “racism,” or “anti-racism,” the 2025 version contained 15 references to those words. Similarly, there were seven references to “allyship” when the original code did not mention the word at all. 
The ANA’s political action committee also has a history of donating more money to Democratic candidates.

In 2026, the American Nurses Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the American Nurses Association Enterprise, announced it would be handing out health equity awards. Applicants must “demonstrate an understanding of and embrace health equity, social justice, anti-racism, and cultural humility” and show how they advance “health equity.” 
While there are approximately 5 million nurses across the United States, there are only around 190,000 members of the American Nurses Association, according to an email obtained by Do No Harm.
Do No Harm said that nurses should fight back against the politicization of their profession 
“It’s up to nurses to take back their organization, and ultimately, their profession,” Do No Harm wrote in the report. “Nurses do have a substantial collective voice, and it is well past time to use it in defense of the profession.”

Planned Parenthood’s Illinois chapter has agreed to pay $500,000 after the federal government investigated allegations that the branch discriminated against its white employees. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) said there is reasonable cause to believe the organization segregated its employees by race into “affinity networks.”
Many firms have “affinity networks,” which allow employees to join employee groups with those to whom they feel similar. However, at other companies, these networks are voluntary, not mandatory. Planned Parenthood had mandatory &#8220;affinity caucuses” segregated by race, and employees of other races were not allowed to participate.
Every week, staff were required to attend one- to two-hour sessions of segregated racial affinity caucuses or DEI training. At DEI training sessions, white employees were reportedly the target of harassment and derogatory statements such as: they “are white and do not feel racism the same way that non-white patients feel” and “white supremacy is exerted at every level of oppression.&#8221;
EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas said, “Segregating employees by race violates the core promise of our nation’s civil rights laws.” Lucas added in her statement that Title VII guarantees equal treatment for every employee and “those protections equally apply to white workers.”
Planned Parenthood employees alleged that the company even restricted the benefits of white employees. “Planned Parenthood also denied white employees access to time off that it granted only to black employees,” the report read. Along with the $500,000 settlement, Planned Parenthood fired the manager responsible for the misconduct that the investigation uncovered. The EEOC says the investigation was prompted after multiple employees brought forward their concerns.
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.plannedparenthood.org/planned-parenthood-illinois/newsroom/statement-in-response-to-august-21-article-from-buzzfeed-news-statement-in-response-to-august-21-article-from-buzzfeed-news?utm_source=chatgpt.com">obtained</a> a press release from the Illinois Planned Parenthood affiliate that may have been the start of the organization’s discriminatory practices.
Planned Parenthood of Illinois said in a response to a BuzzFeed News article, &#8220;Despite not having the details of this particular incident, we recognize that Planned Parenthood has been complicit in upholding systemic racism. Moving forward, [Planned Parenthood of Illinois] is deeply committed to being anti-racist and ensuring that our work is not performative, that there is no divide between our words and actions.”
They added, “As part of this work, we’ve created spaces for honest conversations about race and are providing multiple channels through which staff have opportunities to share their lived experiences with leadership.”
The Illinois Planned Parenthood is not the only affiliate to release statements on racism in their organization. Nineteen out of the 49 Planned Parenthood affiliates have issued statements.
Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest said, “We must confront how white supremacy of the past and present continues in the institutions we are a part of today including our own organization.&#8221;
The Virginia affiliate said that they acknowledge “our past and our present participation in white supremacy and are committed to stopping, learning, growing and living our values through the hard and uncomfortable work of progress.”
None of the statements released by the Planned Parenthood chapters specifically addressed discrimination allegations against white employees or white patients.

A Lutheran minister looking for a promotion to Congress once claimed that challenges to the traditional definitions of men and women are “very threatening” to white men and downplayed concerns about the dangers of transgender ideology for women. 
Sarah Trone Garriott, a Democrat candidate for Iowa&#8217;s 3rd Congressional District, claimed that Evangelical Christians oppose “GLBTQ” ideology not because of theology, but racial angst, according to an October 2023 speech uncovered by The Daily Wire. Trone Garriott, a former state senator and minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, hopes to unseat incumbent Republican Rep. Zach Nunn.
During her <a href="https://www.iaumc.org/newsdetail/sen-rev-sarah-throne-garrett-encourages-laity-to-confront-christian-nationalism-18119210">speech</a> on &#8220;Christian Nationalism&#8221; at Ames First United Methodist Church, Trone Garriott argued that Evangelical Christians needed “threats” to react against to maintain their identity. 
“A new threat that we see today is the GLBTQ movement,” she said. “It&#8217;s a challenging of that status quo, of the way that things have been, of who&#8217;s a man and who&#8217;s woman and how relationships are. It&#8217;s very threatening to the idea of the white male, powerful figure, because it muddies the waters and makes things ambiguous and confusing.”

“We see all kinds of responses happening in legislation and in community conflicts … a lot more emphasis on, you know, really funding and supporting the separation, the private schools, the parents&#8217; rights,&#8221; she said. &#8220;And within that, the parents&#8217; rights piece is used to enact book bans, sports bans about who can play and who can compete,” she said. 
Trone Garriott then suggested that laws to keep males out of female sports or protect kids from sexually explicit books were motivated by a misguided belief that “white men” are “responsible” for protecting women. 
“It&#8217;s really couched in the language of there&#8217;s a threat against women and white men are responsible to protect women from threats. So a lot of the legislation is about we&#8217;re going to protect these feminine, fragile, weak women and girls from a threat to their bodies, their persons, their identity in this way.”
During her time in the State Senate, Trone Garriott <a href="https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/publications/SJNL/20220302_SJNL.pdf#page=4">voted against</a> a bill to keep boys out of girls’ sports and <a href="https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/publications/SJNL/20230307_SJNL.pdf#page=26">opposed</a> a bill shielding children from transgender procedures. 
Republican spokesman Zach Kraft told The Daily Wire that Trone Garriott’s positions were out of step with Iowans. 
&#8220;Sarah Trone Garriott is a preacher of the woke gospel,” he said. “It is sickening to see her twist Christianity as a justification to force sex changes on young children. That may have been popular with her friends at Harvard, but Iowa voters will reject this radical lunatic.&#8221; 
Trone Garriott spent much of her speech attacking “white Christian men” and “white evangelical leaders,” an aggressive strategy in a state where white evangelicals compose a major voting bloc. She even attacked famed evangelist Billy Graham for having an “attractive, strong, macho guy persona.” 
She also challenged traditional Evangelical Christian understandings of Jesus Christ and the Bible. Her denomination, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is much more liberal than its counterpart, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. 
 “There&#8217;s a lot of different ways to think about what Christ did on the cross,” she said during the speech. “There&#8217;s not just one way. It makes us wonder, well, who is this Christ?”
Trone Garriott said the Evangelical understanding of the Gospel was tainted by the “white patriarchy.” 
“What we see more and more is that the good news that a specific variety of Christianity is professing in the world is white patriarchy,” she said. “So white masculine power, violence, dominance, over and against.”
She also downplayed biblical writings of the Apostle Paul, calling  him a “great guy and all” but “a product of his time.”

New York City landlords are firing back at Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s director of Tenant Protection after comments calling property ownership “white supremacist.”
Cea Weaver, a high-ranking operative within the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has faced repeated criticism for past social media posts attacking homeownership.
“The reality is that for centuries, we have really treated property as an individualized good and not as a collective good,” Weaver said in one video from 2021. She added that the transition to “shared equity” would target “white families” and “some POC (people of color) families who are homeowners.”
In a social media post from 2019, she said “homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as ‘wealth building’ public policy,” The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/marxism-in-the-metropolis-nycs-new-tenant-czar-has-targeted-white-homeowners-private-property">reported</a>.
In response to Weaver’s past comments, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/nyc-landlords-fire-back-racist-mamdani-aides-claim-ties-homeownership-white-supremacy">told</a> Fox News: “Civil Rights Division of the DOJ is on high alert as to the radical agenda promised by Mayor Mamdani, much of which is at odds with our federal Constitutional and civil rights norms.”
Now, NYC landlords are accusing Weaver of racism for ignoring immigrant property owners in the city.
“I think that the true socialist views toward housing and taking housing away from people like myself is the racist element in this,” Jan Lee, a third-generation Chinatown property owner and board member of the Small Property Owners of New York (SPONY), told Fox News Digital. “I think when you start to lump all of us together and say that we’re all the bad thing that&#8217;s keeping people out of housing, that’s racist. We’re right out of the gate in this administration, starting off with extreme hostility for property owners.”
Ann Korchak, board president of SPONY, called Weaver’s comments “insulting.”
“To say that it’s racist to own property is an insult to every single immigrant who ever came here,” Korchak said.
Weaver would be “blown away by the diversity” of NYC property owners, Korchak said.
“New York has a rich tradition of immigrants kind of reaching the American dream through property ownership,” Korchak said. “So many of our members and others who don’t even know that we exist came to America because they didn’t have rights in wherever they came from.”
Weaver recently led the first of five planned “Rental Ripoff Hearings” intended to “uncover policy recommendations that will more effectively and systematically protect tenants in their homes,” The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/we-went-to-zohran-mamdanis-first-rental-ripoff-hearing-everyone-was-mad">reported</a>.
At the meeting, Weaver said the mayor’s office would use the feedback collected at the Rental Ripoff hearings to inform housing policy going forward.
Private landlords said the hearings are too one-sided.
“They should pull from a combination of tenants, landlords, financiers, developers, and economists,” New York real estate broker Adam Frisch told The Daily Wire. “Everybody looks at the situation with their own biases, and it’s the role of the mayor to sit down with tenants and landlords and say I know you’re both unhappy. Let’s see what we can do.”

Democrats are claiming that President Trump is a racist because he is deploying help to clean up the giant poop spill in the Potomac.
On Monday, The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/02/16/potomac-raw-sewage-moore-trump-fema-truth-social/">reported</a>:
<blockquote>President Donald Trump said Monday that federal authorities will respond to a major sewage spill that occurred four weeks ago in the Potomac River, which flows between Maryland, Washington and Virginia. In a post on his social network, Truth Social, Trump said the Federal Emergency Management Agency would play a key role in a response involving “Management, Direction, and Coordination” to protect the Potomac. FEMA is one of the agencies affected by the current partial government shutdown; in past shutdowns, its employees have largely been required to work without pay.
Trump blamed “local Democrat leaders” for “gross mismanagement” in his post, and he singled out Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D), suggesting that the governor is incapable of handling the situation. On Air Force One on Monday afternoon en route to Washington from Mar-a-Lago, Trump again criticized Moore. “I don’t like the fact that he did that horrible, you know, with the pipes and the Potomac, and he’s not doing the job,” Trump said. “I’m going to have to get the federal government involved in getting it fixed, because he can’t fix anything.”</blockquote>
Wes Moore tried to claim it was actually the federal government&#8217;s fault. It is not. He says he&#8217;s a victim of President Trump now. Sure, it&#8217;s his state pumping raw sewage into the rivers, but it is President Trump who is the real exploiter here.
 Moore will most likely run for president in 2028. I think that would be a quixotic quest; I do not think that he has “it,” whatever “it” is.
“I think the president just seems to have a very real issue with the fact that I do not bow to him and I will stand up to him because I will always defend my people. But the fact that I am the only black governor in this country and the fact that he seems to have a real issue with me, I think that&#8217;s an issue he&#8217;s got to take up,” he <a href="https://x.com/TheArenaCNN/status/2024252428959310008">declared</a>.
It&#8217;s very sad. What a victim.

Moore also claims that President Trump may be a racist because he is “assaulting” employment opportunities for black women.
He <a href="https://x.com/TheArenaCNN/status/2024252428959310008">stated</a>, “He also has spent the past year making a direct assault on scholarships for HBCUs. The past year, we have seen the greatest assault on unemployment for black women that our country has ever seen. He&#8217;s spending his time attacking history and banning books. I honestly think that, you know, it&#8217;s a question not just for the president, but frankly, I think it&#8217;s also a question for white America. If they are looking at his actions. I think that&#8217;s something that people need to wrestle with.”
This is ridiculous. The unemployment rate in the country right now is 4.3%. Trump is not undercutting black women.
If the claim by Moore is that government employment has been cut in certain areas and that demographically this disproportionately affects black women, that does not mean that Trump is specifically targeting black women by cutting federal jobs.
Claiming victimhood on behalf of black women everywhere because President Trump is cutting federal jobs is truly silly, especially on the same day that President Trump was celebrating Black History Month at the White House.

One reporter on Wednesday took the opportunity to ask about whether Trump is a racist, since he has been called racist so many times. 
He <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bHKojtGTPI">asked</a>, “Where or when does the president believe he&#8217;s been falsely called racist?”
“You&#8217;re kidding, right?” White House Secretary Karoline Leavitt fired back, “I will pull you a plethora of examples. I&#8217;m going to get my team in that room to start going through the internet of radical Democrats throughout the years who have accused this president falsely of being a racist. And I&#8217;m sure there&#8217;s many people in this room and on network television across the country who have accused him of the same. In fact, I know that because I&#8217;ve seen it with my own eyes.”
I love it. 
One D.C. resident gave a very lively speech during this event at the White House. Her grandson was violently killed in Washington, D.C., and she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DU6nStNjl2A/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link">raved about Trump</a>: 
“We need National Guard, which we did years ago. He brought it on. I love him. I don&#8217;t want to hear nothing you got to say about the racist stuff. And don&#8217;t be looking at me on the news, hating on me because I&#8217;m standing up for somebody that deserves to be stand up for. Get off the man&#8217;s back. Let him do his job. He doing the right thing. Back up off. And grandma said it!”
But, oh, look at that vicious racist in the White House.
