The New York Police Department (NYPD) is facing more distractions following the resignation of former Commissioner Edward Caban last week as its new interim commissioner, Thomas Donlon, was raided by the FBI late last week.
&#8220;On Friday, September 20, federal authorities executed search warrants at my residences,&#8221; Donlon said in a statement late on Saturday. &#8220;They took materials that came into my possession approximately 20 years ago and are unrelated to my work with the New York City Police Department.&#8221;
&#8220;This is not a department matter, and the department will not be commenting,&#8221; he added.

The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/21/us-news/nypd-interim-police-commissioner-thomas-donlon-home-raided-by-feds/">reported</a> that the investigation into Donlon appears to center around whether he took classified material while he worked at the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
At the FBI, Donlon was the head of the FBI’s National Threat Assessment Center and the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Post added. At DHS, Donlon was the director of New York&#8217;s Office of Homeland Security.
Donlon took over the position after being tapped by New York City Mayor Eric Adams following Caban&#8217;s abrupt <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nypd-commissioner-resigns-amid-federal-criminal-probe">resignation</a> from the job just a little over a week ago after his phone was seized by federal agents in a criminal investigation.
The investigation, at least in part, centers around a nightclub security business that is owned by Caban’s twin brother, James Caban, and whether he used his brother to “fix potential problems for clubs and bars,” The Washington Post reported. The probe is reportedly focusing on other police officials as well.
“My complete focus has always been on the NYPD – the department and people I love and have dedicated over 30 years of service to,” Caban said in a statement. “However, the news around recent developments has created a distraction for our department, and I am unwilling to let my attention be on anything other than our important work, or the safety of the men and women of the NYPD.”

Three out of every four people arrested for crimes such as assault, domestic violence, and robbery in Midtown Manhattan are suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, police sources told <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/09/02/us-news/migrants-flooding-nycs-justice-system-making-up-75-of-arrests-in-midtown-as-pathetic-sanctuary-city-laws-handcuff-cops/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a>.
The Post reported that New York Police Department officers are working at a disadvantage when they arrest suspected illegal immigrants as the Big Apple&#8217;s &#8220;sanctuary city&#8221; laws do not allow for cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Police sources in Queens estimate that more than 60% of those arrested for assault, domestic violence, and robbery are suspected illegal immigrants.
“New York City eliminated a tool to get rid of violent criminals. What a mess,” former prosecutor at the Queens District Attorney’s office Jim Quinn told The Post. “The sanctuary city law is pathetic. It’s disgusting. It’s crazy.”

But those who commit violent acts after they serve their time, I think they should be removed from our country.&#8221;
&#8220;Right now, we don&#8217;t have the authorization to be able to go and coordinate with ICE. We have to follow the law,&#8221; he added.
An NYPD spokesman told the Post, “Police officers are prohibited from asking about the immigration status of crime victims, witnesses, or suspects and therefore the NYPD doesn’t track data pertaining to immigration statuses.” Despite the lack of concrete statistics on migrant crime in New York City, law enforcement officers said that they often &#8220;have so many migrant cases we have to call in for extra Spanish interpreters.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york-city">New York City</a> police have arrested an illegal immigrant suspected of tying up and raping a 13-year-old girl in broad daylight in a park in Queens.
New York Police Department (NYPD) officers took the suspect into custody after a pair of good samaritans saw the individual, recognizing him from images released by the police, and held him down until law enforcement could arrive, according to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/migrant-arrested-broad-daylight-rape-13-year-old-new-york-park" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a>.
“It was good police work,” retired NYPD Sergeant Joseph Giacalone, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, told Fox News. “They got the drawings out of the suspect and his tattoo, and then were able to secure the surveillance photo and … some help from the public &#8211; but that’s how it’s supposed to work.”
The suspect is a 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Ecuador who is believed to have entered the United States in 2021, according to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/18/us-news/migrant-arrested-for-allegedly-sexually-assaulting-13-year-old-girl-in-nyc-park/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>. He had logged several low-level offenses prior to allegedly assaulting and raping the 13-year-old girl and assaulting her friend.
The suspect allegedly <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/15/us-news/cops-search-for-pervert-who-sexually-assaulted-13-year-old-girl-in-nyc-park-so-not-safe/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ambushed</a> two 13-year-olds, a boy and a girl, walking in a remote part of Kissena Park on Thursday afternoon. Armed with a “large machete-style knife,” the man allegedly forced the pair of teens off the path and tied their wrists together with shoe laces. He then molested the girl before stealing their phones and leaving the scene, according to police.
The teens attended school near the scene of the attack. They ran to the school and alerted the staff, who called emergency services.
Jeffrey Flores, 24, and a 22-year-old friend <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/06/18/us-news/good-samaritans-beat-tied-up-ecuadorean-migrant-busted-in-rape-of-13-year-old-girl-at-kissena-park/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">captured</a> the suspect at a store that Flores knew the illegal immigrant frequented.
“I seen him a few times — he comes to this store to buy stuff,” Flores told the Post. “I waited for him. I waited the whole day to see if he would come up. He came at night.”

“We didn’t know he was a rapist,” said the man who helped Flores take down the suspect. “He was walking around us like any other regular person. Once we started seeing the picture we waited for him and ended up catching him.”

A group of anti-Israel protesters defaced a World War I Memorial and lit an American flag on fire in Central Park on Monday after police prevented around 1,000 of the demonstrators from reaching the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/05/06/us-news/over-1000-pro-palestinian-protesters-march-toward-met-gala/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
Video of the incident showed anti-Israel protesters vandalizing the memorial with graffiti that read &#8220;Gaza&#8221; and &#8220;Palestine will be free&#8221; as an American flag burned at its base. Some demonstrators plastered the American soldiers featured on the memorial with stickers that read “Stop the Genocide. End the apartheid. Free Palestine,&#8221; according to the Post.
Another demonstrator climbed on top of the memorial, holding a Palestinian flag. No police were seen in the video as the protesters desecrated the American military monument. A monument of Civil War Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman was also vandalized in Central Park Monday evening.

“There is some organization behind this movement,” said NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry. “The level of organization that we’re seeing in both of these encampments here and at Columbia — leaflets on how to protest, leaflets on how to commit civil disobedience, leaflets on what to do when you get arrested, leaflets on what to say to police when they ask you — there is somebody funding this. America&#8217;s college campuses are in a state of complete meltdown —  at least in the blue states, where administrators are catering to the whims of America-hating, evil, radical people. 
The question everyone is asking right now is an easy question: Why are these students — the most privileged people in the history of the world, no skill set, no problems — LARPing as terrorists and standing for murderous groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the like? Why are they overtly chanting anti-Semitic slogans? Why are they doing all of this? 
 The answer is very simple. They want revolution. 
Gary Saul Morson, a professor at Northwestern University, wrote an interesting book titled “Wonder Confronts Uncertainty,” which is about the history of Russian literature. But what the book is really about is what he describes as a Russian type: the revolutionary, typically from a well-off background but in love with destruction for its own sake.
Mikhail Bakunin, a very famous nineteenth-century anarchist, once said, “The urge to destroy is also a creative urge.” Then, in 1918, a Russian poet named Alexander Blok wrote an essay titled “The Intelligentsia and the Revolution” in which he argued that violence is an antidote to the “boredom, the triviality” of regular life, adding it will “make everything over …  change our false, boring, hideous life … This is called revolution.”
But Revolutionaries cannot succeed without mainstream support. During the lead-up to the Russian Revolution, the so-called constitutional Democratic Party openly cheered and encouraged terrorists, even fundraising for them. After a massive terrorist attack in 1906, the party leader said, “Condemned terror? Never. That would mean the moral death of the party.”
Naturally, when the Bolsheviks actually won, they killed or arrested all the leading members of the Constitutional Democratic Party.

These are bored middle- to upper-class kids, privileged by a system that has handed them everything, including admission to our top universities, but given them no mission by their parents or by their society, other than to “find themselves.” They&#8217;ve been told that they are the smartest and brightest, the people who are going to lead us to the future. 
But they&#8217;ve been given no actual set of values. 
So they go to campus and meet fellow revolutionaries and revolutionary professors who are also incredibly privileged and inform them that the system that has given them their privilege is corrupt and evil, and they feel guilty.
Then, the only way to alleviate that guilt is to join the revolution, to cosplay oppression. So they have to find a revolutionary cause and LARP as revolutionaries oppressed by the system and dissociate from their privilege. They have to join the mass of the supposedly “oppressed.”
What&#8217;s going on at these campuses seems like LARPing: live action role playing. And maybe these idiots will go on to integrate into more mainstream institutions, which they then destroy and corrupt from the inside. 
After all, that has been the formula for the last several decades, and it has absolutely destroyed major American institutions, from universities to businesses. The radicals went into traditional American society. Instead of being shaped by those institutions, they shaped them.
But there is, in fact, a darker and more violent path. That is the path where the LARPing for terrorism doesn&#8217;t actually just stop at taking over campus buildings or assaulting Jewish students. That&#8217;s the path where a few acts of violence blossom out, and the real revolution occurs through violence. 
That has happened before in American history. In 1971 and 1972, there were five bombings a day in the United States. Groups ranging from the Black Panthers to the Symbionese Liberation Army to the Weather Underground engaged in violent terrorism every day. 
A possible prediction for the United States is both paths. The radicals will continue to be admitted to the halls of power on the one hand, and on the other, they will increasingly engage in violence, all while humored by the Democratic Party.

What is Joe Biden doing about this? Miguel Cardona, the Secretary of Education, was asked in a recent House hearing: If he could remove the funding from a school that refused to comply with Title VI. In other words, if you wanted to get the administration to enforce Title VI — which says you cannot be harassed or intimidated on a college campus on account of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc. —  could the government threaten withdrawal of student funding? Cardona answered yes, of course; if a school refused to comply with Title VI, the government would remove federal dollars.
But they’re not doing that. They’re not even threatening to do that. Why? Because the Biden administration is in the same position as the original Constitutional Democratic Party in Russia. They like patting the radicals on the head. They&#8217;ve been doing this since 2020, when Kamala Harris was talking about bailing out rioters in the middle of Black Lives Matter summer.
These terrible college students, people who believe truly evil things, will likely get more and more revolutionary. And a subset of them will not stop at building takeovers. All it takes is somebody to break the glass first.
So what exactly is going to break the glass? What&#8217;s going to move these people from taking over campus buildings to committing bombings?
It could be as simple as something like Donald Trump winning the 2024 election. Student protesters were rioting in 1968, but it took Richard Nixon&#8217;s election to push those protesters underground and then into overt acts of routine terrorism.
Given that the entire Left has now deemed Trump a fascist threat to the United States, would it truly be that shocking if the same students now barricading themselves inside administration buildings on behalf of actual terrorist groups like Hamas decided to ratchet up their “intifada” to the next level?
No, that would not be shocking at all.

New York Police Department Deputy Commissioner Tarik Sheppard joined the hosts of MSNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Morning Joe&#8221; on Wednesday morning and showed some of the chains that were used by anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University to lock doors shut after they occupied a building on campus.
NYPD officers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anti-israel-protesters-at-columbia-take-over-campus-building-barricade-themselves-inside" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stormed</a> Hamilton Hall at Columbia on Tuesday night and arrested dozens of protesters who had illegally occupied the building. Sheppard said that when the police arrived outside the building they encountered &#8220;heavy industrial chains&#8221; that were locked with bike locks &#8220;on every door&#8221; at Hamilton Hall.
&#8220;This is not what students bring to school. This is what professionals bring to campuses and universities,&#8221; said Sheppard.

The deputy commissioner added that police had to push through other obstacles when they swooped in to clear the building.
&#8220;In order for our emergency services group to enter into the building, they had to first cut through these chains, but also get rid of debris and barricaded doors that were barricaded with refrigerators, vending machines, chairs, you name it, they pushed it up against those doors to try to stop us from coming in,&#8221; he said.
Sheppard praised the work of the NYPD officers who made it into the building and took between 40-50 anti-Israel protesters into custody &#8220;without incident.&#8221; Video posted on social media also showed NYPD officers driving an armored vehicle with a ladder up to Hamilton Hall, allowing officers to enter the building through a window.

The anti-Israel demonstrators at Columbia have camped out on the campus for nearly two weeks, and a large group of protesters <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/anti-israel-protesters-at-columbia-take-over-campus-building-barricade-themselves-inside" target="_blank" rel="noopener">took over</a> Hamilton Hall on Tuesday morning, demanding the Ivy League school divest from Israel as the country fights against Hamas. At least one protester was caught on camera smashing a window in Hamilton Hall, and the group of demonstrators said they were renaming the building to &#8220;Hind&#8217;s Hall&#8221; after &#8220;a martyr murdered at the hands of the genocidal Israeli state at the age of six years old.&#8221;
Some conservatives have pointed to radical student groups, such as the Students for Justice in Palestine, receiving funding from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, according to <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/04/26/us-news/george-soros-maoist-fund-columbias-anti-israel-tent-city/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a>.

“There’s real money behind it,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cruz-rips-major-left-wing-funders-of-anti-semitic-protests-theres-real-money-behind-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “And if you look at it, in many instances, so copycat tents had been seen at Harvard, at Yale, at Berkeley, at Ohio State, at Emory, and they’re organized by branches of the Students for Justice in Palestine, SJP, funded by George Soros.”
Former President Donald Trump also believes there is more behind the anti-Israel protests at colleges across the country. As the police pushed their way through Hamilton Hall and arrested protesters, Trump called into Sean Hannity&#8217;s show, telling the host that he believes many of the demonstrators at Columbia are &#8220;paid agitators.&#8221;
“I really think you have a lot of paid agitators, professional agitators in here too, and I see it all over,” he <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/education/4634576-donald-trump-claims-paid-agitators-columbia-pro-palestine-protests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “You know, when you see signs and they’re all identical. That means they’re being paid by a source.”
“You know, these aren’t hand-painted signs where people would go to their basement and paint something because they really believed that. These are all signs that are identical that made by the same printer,” Trump added. “And you know, when you see that that means there’s somebody at the top that’s paying, or a group that’s paying, and they’re doing a great disservice to the world, but they’re doing a great disservice to our country.”

Top New York City Police Department officials slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Thursday for demonizing law enforcement&#8217;s response to anti-Semitic protests on Columbia University&#8217;s campus.
Ocasio-Cortez <a href="https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1783224425074086256">responded</a> to a video posted on X that showed NYPD counterterrorism officers on campus who were there to ensure that the far-left extremists did not become violent.
&#8220;Not only did Columbia make the horrific decision to mobilize NYPD on their own students, but the units called in have some of the most violent reputations on the force,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;NYPD had promised the city they wouldn’t deploy SRG [Strategic Response Group] to protests.&#8221;
&#8220;So why are these counterterror units here?&#8221; she asked.
NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell fired back at AOC: &#8220;Truly amazing! Columbia decided to hold its students accountable to the laws of the school. They are seeing the consequences of their actions. Something these kids were most likely never taught. Good SAT scores and self-entitlement do not supersede the law. I am sure you would agree that we have to teach them these valuable life skills.&#8221;
&#8220;Secondly, I was with those &#8216;units&#8217; last Thursday that you describe as having, &#8216;the most violent reputations.&#8217; These &#8216;units&#8217; removed students with great care and professionalism, not a single incident was reported,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The only incidents that day on campus were the student&#8217;s hateful anti-Semitic speech and vile language towards our cops. I am sure you agree any hateful speech is unacceptable. You should rethink your comments to a simple thank you to the NYPD and hate has no place in our society.&#8221;
Chell said that AOC should visit the campus and &#8220;listen to their remarks of pure hatred.&#8221;
&#8220;I will ensure those &#8216;units&#8217; will protect you as they do for all NYers 24/7/365,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Lack of accountability = consequences. Hate from anyone, anywhere has no place in our city and country.&#8221;

“Boardwalk Empire” actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/celebrities">Michael Stuhlbarg</a> was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/assault">attacked</a> by a man with a rock in Central Park over the weekend, per the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york-city">New York City</a> Police Department.
Police responded around 7:45 p.m. ET Sunday to a “call of an assault in progress in the vicinity of 90th Street and East Drive” near the reservoir in Central Park, per <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/01/entertainment/michael-stuhlbarg-hit-rock-central-park/index.html">CNN</a>. That&#8217;s where they found the 55-year-old celeb who was “struck in the head by an unknown object.”
“A preliminary investigation determined that a 27-year-old male threw a rock, striking the victim in the back of the neck, causing an abrasion,” an NYPD spokesperson said in an email statement to the outlet on Monday.
“The victim chased the 27-year-old male to the front of 9 East 91st Street where uniformed officers took the 27-year-old male into custody without further incident. The victim refused medical attention at the scene,” the statement continued.
Suspected perpetrator Xavier Israel was arraigned on Monday on assault charges and released on bail. He has a court appearance scheduled for April 5.
Stuhlbarg has received several accolades, including two Screen Actors Guild Awards and nominations for two Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, and a Golden Globe Award. He’s best known for his appearances in “Boardwalk Empire,” “The Looming Tower,” and “Dopesick.” The actor has also appeared in Marvel movies, including “Doctor Strange” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

The attack comes just days after reality star Bethenny Frankel said she was punched in the face by an unknown assailant while walking the streets of New York. 
Frankel responded to fashion design student Mikayla Toninato, who had shared her experience of being “punched in the face” via TikTok, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/real-housewives-bethenny-frankel-says-she-was-punched-in-random-nyc-attack">reported</a>.
“This is insane bc this happened to me a few months ago but I was embarrassed to say,” the 53-year-old reality Frankel shared in a comment last week, which has since been deleted. “I was on the UWS [Upper West Side]. Insane. I was taking video of a bakery.”
Dozens of women have reported similar unprovoked punching attacks in Manhattan.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed Democrats during an interview late last week following the death of NYPD officer Jonathan Diller, saying that the party openly embraces criminals and has turned its back on law enforcement.
The 31-year-old police officer Jonathan Diller was allegedly murdered by 34-year-old Guy Rivera during a traffic stop as Diller attempted to get Rivera to vacate the car which is when Rivera allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Diller in the stomach.
Rivera had 21 prior arrests and was released from prison in 2021 after serving five years for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
DeSantis responded to the killing by highlighting during an interview with Newsmax&#8217;s Eric Bolling the difference between how former President Donald Trump responded to Diller&#8217;s death and how President Joe Biden responded to his death.
&#8220;They get no support from these Democrat politicians,&#8221; DeSantis said. &#8220;It used to be police officers, a lot of them were Democrats. That’s changed. The Democratic Party has turned their back on law enforcement, they embrace the criminal element and let the inmates run the asylum, and a lot of these people.&#8221;
&#8220;And, you know, Obama and Biden and Clinton can go raise 25 million because they’re in the upper echelon,&#8221; DeSantis said of the fundraiser the three had for Biden&#8217;s re-election campaign last week. &#8220;So they’re immune from their own policies. The people that it really hurts are the people who are more working class and middle income Americans. Democratic party has turned their back on them. They’re really become the party of the elites.&#8221;

A family member of slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller ripped Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul to her face and told her that her presence was unwelcome at the Friday wake for the fallen officer, a source told <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/30/us-news/jonathan-dillers-family-told-kathy-hochul-she-had-his-blood-on-her-hands-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Post</a>.
A video of an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hochul-gets-frosty-greeting-at-slain-ny-police-officers-wake-guests-applaud-as-she-leaves-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exchange</a> between Hochul and a man attending Diller&#8217;s wake was posted to social media and showed the man getting animated while he talked with the governor. Hochul and her team got back into an SUV and left the wake after the exchange.

The source told the Post that a family member of Diller &#8220;was going crazy&#8221; on Hochul, telling her, “We don’t want you here. You’re not wanted here. You have blood on your hands. If you want to do something, change the bail laws.&#8221; CBS New York also <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/nypd-officer-jonathan-diller-wake-day-2-long-island-massapequa-park/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that Hochul&#8217;s appearance was received poorly by Diller&#8217;s family members, who slammed her record on criminal justice policy.
Diller, a husband and father who had served three years on the force, was shot in the stomach while making a traffic stop Monday evening in Queens. The suspect in the shooting was identified as 34-year-old Guy Rivera, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the car pulled over by Diller when he allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at the officer. Rivera has 21 prior arrests and was released from prison in 2021 after serving five years for criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to the Post. He was also in prison from 2011 to 2014 for first-degree assault.
The officer&#8217;s widow, who has a 1-year-old son with Diller, also reportedly had a sharp exchange with Hochul.
“[It looked] like she was telling [Hochul] off,” one witness told the New York Post. “It didn’t look like the widow had a kind word to say.”
Another witness told the Post that the governor and the young widow had a “short, respectful conversation” during the roughly 10 to 15 minutes Hochul was inside. More bystanders said the governor and the widow discussed “policy” during their brief encounter.
On Saturday, Hochul said that flags would be flown at half-staff at all state buildings in honor of the fallen officer.

“To Officer Diller’s family, and all of the other brave men and women of law enforcement who put your lives on the line every day, we love you, we appreciate you, and we will always stand with you!” Trump said.
In her eulogy at her husband’s funeral on Saturday, Diller&#8217;s widow called his death “devastating” and “senseless&#8221; and demanded change, <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/03/30/us-news/slain-nypd-officer-jonathan-diller-funeral-live-updates-photos-reactions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Post.
