<p>After the left-leaning media-led smear campaign against high school boys from Covington Catholic fell apart after video evidence demonstrated that not only did the boys not target an African American group with &#8220;racial epithets&#8221; and &#8220;harass&#8221; Native American protester Nathan Phillips, the boys were actually the ones who were pelted with insults and harassed, the left-wing New York Daily News published another hit-piece on the Catholic school on Monday.</p>
<p>The piece, shamelessly titled &#8220;<a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/ny-sports-covington-nathan-phillips-nick-sandmann-20190121-story.html">SEE IT: Covington Catholic High students in blackface at past basketball game</a>,&#8221; begins by saying snarkily, &#8220;This won&#8217;t help Kentucky student Nick Sandmann&#8217;s case.&#8221; It then &#8220;reports&#8221;:</p>

<p>The photo depicts several white students, some in blackface, shouting at an opposing black player.</p>
<p>While the photo&#8217;s origins couldn&#8217;t be verified, the official Covington Catholic High School YouTube account published a video last January boasting its basketball school spirit, and several clips, including one from 2012, showcase attendees chanting in black face, a mockery of the opposing players. The school took down the video later on Monday.</p>

<p>But, many have since pointed out, rather than showing high schoolers in &#8220;blackface&#8221; (wearing black makeup in order to imitate in a derogatory manner an African American), the photo clearly shows students in a &#8220;blackout&#8221; event. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/42485/walsh-smear-merchants-now-claim-covington-catholic-matt-walsh">Matt Walsh</a> summed up the arguments succinctly in an op-ed for the Daily Wire:</p>

<p>The blowback to the Daily News&#8217; hit-piece has begun online, including from Robert Barnes, the lawyer who has repeatedly called out journalists for libeling the Covington teens and is threatening lawsuits on their behalf against any who fail to adequately retract their false reports.</p>

Blowback Begins Over Covington Catholic ‘Blackface’ Accusation

<p>The Left&#8217;s narrative about the incident involving students from Covington Catholic school has collapsed, but they will not drop their pitchforks quietly. Instead of admitting that they were played by a conman named Nathan Phillips, and that they wildly misconstrued an event that actually began when a group a black activists yelled racist and anti-gay slurs, they have instead set out to retroactively justify their treatment of the innocent students. They have already declared the Covington kids racist and bigoted, now all they have to do is find some sort of evidence to go with that charge. And, of course, if they find no evidence, they can always just lie. Which brings us to the latest smear.</p>
<p>A picture went viral yesterday showing a group of Covington students at a basketball game wearing all black, some in black paint, screaming at the black player of another team. Anyone with, say, a third of a functioning brain rattling around in their skulls will immediately understand the scene. The kids are all wearing black because the fans of sports teams often will come to games all in the same color. Oftentimes fans will wear black as part of a &#8220;blackout.&#8221; Other times they&#8217;ll white as part of a &#8220;whiteout.&#8221; Or sometimes they&#8217;ll wear blue or red or any other color. This is standard operating procedure in American sports, especially scholastic sports.</p>

<p>Many leftists, though, apparently want us to believe that they have never watched sports or even been introduced to the concept of sports. Feigning an extraordinary amount of ignorance, they accused the students of wearing &#8220;blackface.&#8221; Several media outlets got in on the act. A worthless trash rag called the New York Daily News put the lie right in their headline: &#8220;Covington Catholic High students in blackface at past basketball game.&#8221; The Daily Mail added emphasis: &#8220;Kentucky students from the same Catholic high school as the teens who taunted a Native American man were allowed to don BLACKFACE at their sports events &#8211; and openly goaded African American players.&#8221; Prominent leftists like <a href="https://twitter.com/tariqnasheed/status/1087349213858414592">Tariq Nasheed </a>and <a href="https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1087530451596705797">Matthew Yglesias</a> helped to spread the smear on Twitter.</p>
<p>These people, if they had any integrity, might ask themselves why the school would take pictures and videos of their own students in blackface and then publish them on the internet. They might ask whether it is at all likely or plausible that a whole student body would get together and agree to wear racist costumes to a basketball game. But these considerations are irrelevant to the smear merchants. The smear need not be likely or plausible or, least of all, true. It need only succeed in keeping the narrative alive. And what if that false narrative succeeds in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/42472/speaking-ben-shapiro-show-covington-students-daily-wire">getting a kid hurt or killed</a>? The smear merchants couldn&#8217;t care less about that. They are empty, amoral husks of human beings. Nothing matters to them but the political victory.</p>

WALSH: Smear Merchants Now Claim That Covington Catholic Students Wore ‘Blackface.’ That’s A Complete Lie.

<p>Brad Schaeffer is a historian, author, and musician whose columns have appeared in several news media outlets including the New York Daily News, The Wall Street Journal, and here at <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/authors/brad-schaeffer">The Daily Wire</a>. He delves into historical fiction with his novel &#8220;<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Another-Time-Place-Brad-Schaeffer/dp/1682616630/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1543689929&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=Brad+Schaeffer">Of Another Time and Place</a>.&#8221; The story takes place at two points in time, first in the modern-day streets of London, but also in the skies of Europe during the second World War.</p>
<p>The book is described as a &#8220;a novel about love, redemption, and two young lovers separated by war and desperate to survive the unparalleled violence consuming their war-torn nation. <p>The plot involves American reporter Rachael Azerod, who flies to England in order to meet Harmon Becker, the former German WWII hero to whom Hitler himself awarded the highest honors. However, there is more to his story than meets the eye. </p>
<p>Becker explains how as the second World War breaks out, he joined the German air force known as the Luftwaffe, leaving behind his parents and his fiancé Amelia, who is protesting the rise of the Third Reich as the Jewish community begins to be targeted. </p>
<p>After battling in the skies above Russia, Becker is transferred to Belgium where he is promoted to captain and tasked with training a new squadron of pilots.</p>
<p>He is given leave to travel and meet Adolf Hitler himself, who is to give him an award for his prowess in the sky. He stops off at his hometown where he learns a secret. Amelia has been hiding a Jewish family in the woods near their town &#8212; but not just any family. It is none other than his former music teacher under whom he studied prior to the war. Now, he must make a choice to either do the right thing, or report his own loved ones to the dreaded Nazis. </p>
<p>&#8220;Of Another Time and Place&#8221; is not simply a historical novel, it tells the story of a man who is torn between a genuine love for his home country and his forced loyalties to the Nazi regime.</p>
<p>Schaeffer perfectly captures this tragic moment in history. It is an excellent and well-crafted plot that engrosses you as you travel with Becker on his journey of divided loyalties and dangerous secrets. <p>&#8220;Some rumor that his [plan] is to cut back on the print paper and make it a web play,&#8221; Rosen wrote, according to Politico. &#8220;The Hill now only comes out in print three days a week on session days. Rest online.&#8221;</p>
<p>In response, de Blasio wrote back: &#8220;And that would be good for us, right? Or would that make the [New York] Post more dominant? Or, conversely, would it hasten the demise of the Post &#8212; prob [sic] just wishful thinking.&#8221;</p>
<p>The NYC mayor offered the &#8220;greedy&#8221; comments shortly after the Daily News <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/33413/new-york-daily-news-announces-mass-layoffs-staff-ashe-schow">announced via email</a> that it would layoff 50% of its editorial staff.</p>
<p>New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has since pledged <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/33426/new-york-governor-offers-state-help-new-york-daily-ashe-schow">unspecified state help</a> for the struggling paper.</p>

<p>Cuomo said he stands &#8220;ready to work&#8221; with Tronc to keep the Daily News staffers. He ended his statement by saying,  &#8220;New York State stands ready to help.&#8221;</p>
<p>What exactly that &#8220;help&#8221; means, is not clear yet.</p>
<p>Cuomo mentioned in his statement that his &#8220;father, as Governor, came to the aid of the New York Post when it was facing difficult financial times.&#8221; Indeed, in 1993, Cuomo&#8217;s father, Mario, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20070423111034/http:/www.cjr.org/issues/2004/1/gangs-hickey.asp">helped save the Post</a> by persuading the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to waive cross-ownership rules to allow Rupert Murdoch to purchase the paper for a second time (he had been previously forced to sell the Post due to these FCC rules).</p>
<p>Since this instance was cited specifically by Cuomo in his statement, one could reasonably assume that&#8217;s what he meant by offering state support, should a similar situation arise.</p>
<p>Over in New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy recently announced a new non-profit to support local news, <a href="http://observer.com/2018/07/new-jersely-local-journalism-civic-information-consortium-investment/">aided by a $5 million taxpayer infusion</a>.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s hope this is not the tactic Cuomo plans to take.</p>

<p>Tronc, which owns NYDN, sent an email to staff Monday morning announcing it would be &#8220;fundamentally restructuring the Daily News,&#8221; according to <a href="https://twitter.com/maxwelltani/status/1021384000542330881">a copy of the memo</a> obtained by the Daily Beast&#8217;s Max Tani.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are reducing today the size of the editorial team by approximately 50 percent and re-focusing much of our talent on breaking news &#8212; especially in areas of crime, civil justice and public responsibility,&#8221; the email said.</p>
<p>Tani wrote on Twitter that &#8220;multiple staffers&#8221; told him NYDN employees were called in for an all-staff meeting and told to wait for the email.</p>

<p>Later in the email, Tronc wrote: &#8220;With the exception of a few particular employees who are not in the office today, Human Resources will communicate with everyone leaving the Daily news by the end of the day,&#8221; suggesting many employees still don&#8217;t know whether they have a job or not. Those who are laid off, per the email, will &#8220;be paid for the next 90 days and be eligible for transitional benefits after that.&#8221;</p>
<p>The biggest cut was editor-in-chief Jim Rich, who foreshadowed the layoffs in an ominous tweet Monday morning.</p>

New York Daily News Announces Mass Layoffs To Staff Via Email

<p>The New York Daily News is experiencing backlash in response to the release of its new cover, which features a smiling Ivanka Trump gesturing to a photoshopped-in image of an injured Palestinian from the violence on the Gaza strip.</p>
<p>On Monday, in response to the ceremony for the opening of the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, Hamas-led Palestinian protesters <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/30590/watch-palestinian-protests-us-embassy-get-out-james-barrett">rioted</a> at the Israel-Gaza border, prompting the Israel Defense Forces to strike a number of Hamas targets. According to the Hamas-run health ministry, dozens of Palestinians were killed as a result of the IDF&#8217;s response. Among those killed were three terrorists who tried to plant a bomb on the border.</p>
<p>In its promotion of an early look at its Tuesday cover on Twitter, the Daily News provided a one-word comment that aptly described its own cover: &#8220;Deplorable.&#8221;</p>
<p>The headline reads, &#8220;Daddy&#8217;s Little Ghoul: 55 slaughtered in Gaza, but Ivanka all smiles at Jerusalem embassy unveil.&#8221;</p>

<p>&#8220;Donald Trump blames Samsung for lost FBI text messages,&#8221; CNET.com said.</p>
<p>&#8220;Trump appears to call out Samsung over missing FBI text messages,&#8221; The Hill wrote.</p>
<p>Did Trump do that? Let&#8217;s examine the facts.</p>
<p>It all started with a late-night post on Twitter in which he said:</p>

<p>The Daily News decided that tweet meant this: &#8220;President Trump pinned the blame for scores of missing text messages between two romancing FBI agents on the tech giant Samsung Tuesday, calling the glitch &#8216;one of the biggest stories in a long time.'&#8221;</p>
<p>A couple of points, one obvious, one maybe not so much.</p>
<p>First, Trump was merely pointing out &#8212; sarcastically, mind you &#8212; that it&#8217;s the <em>Federal Bureau of Investigation</em> that&#8217;s blaming Samsung for the missing text messages between a top bureau agent and his mistress. The FBI said last Friday that because of a &#8220;glitch&#8221; in the bureau&#8217;s Samsung 5 mobile phones, some five months worth of text messages between agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page have mysteriously disappeared.</p>
<p>Strzok was a lead counterintelligence official who was involved in the clearing of Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified documents and also was part of the team investigating Trump for alleged collusion with Russia before the 2016 election. All kinds of revelations flowed this week about the pair&#8217;s text massages, like <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/26265/bombshell-informant-tells-congress-there-really-hank-berrien">this</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/26241/bombshell-new-text-anti-trump-fbi-agent-casts-ryan-saavedra">this</a>.</p>
<p>Newsweak &#8212; er, Newsweek &#8212; didn&#8217;t know what to make of the president&#8217;s words (as usual). &#8220;DID TRUMP BLAME SAMSUNG FOR MISSING FBI TEXT MESSAGES? PRESIDENT GETS NUMBER OF MESSAGES WRONG.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Early Wednesday, President Donald Trump appeared to blame Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung for a technical glitch the FBI says caused sections of a series of controversial text messages between two officials to be lost,&#8221; the lead said.</p>
<p>Well first, it wasn&#8217;t &#8220;early Wednesday.&#8221; Not to be too picky, but that&#8217;s wrong. It was precisely 10:54 p.m. It&#8217;s time-stamped on the tweet &#8212; which Newsweek ran in the piece! But the once-great-now-horrible magazine just didn&#8217;t know what was going on, offering well down in the story: &#8220;Trump&#8217;s statement may have been sarcastic, Mail Online suggested.&#8221;</p>
<p>But second is this point: Trump&#8217;s just made a move that&#8217;ll shed significant light on the whole Samsung-Did-It canard. Here&#8217;s how: Trump points out that the FBI &#8212; not him, but the FBI &#8212; is &#8220;blaming Samsung.&#8221; Now, Samsung has two choices: Come out and say, &#8220;Yup, our phones are pretty crummy, lots of glitches happen,&#8221; or to push back on the narrative, declare that, &#8220;Guys, it&#8217;s not our phones. Whatever problems you have is all on you.&#8221;</p>
<p>If Samsung comes back with the latter, the story moves back to the FBI, despite the bureau&#8217;s claim that the phones are at fault. With any luck, Samsung and the FBI will get in a mini-battle &#8212; &#8220;It&#8217;s your fault! No, it&#8217;s YOUR fault!!!&#8221;</p>
<p>So Trump&#8217;s intent with the late-night (not early morning) tweet was twofold: Expose the &#8220;fake news&#8221; media, which we can assume he knew would (wrongly) claim that Trump was blaming Samsung, and push the electronics giant to rebut FBI claims that a &#8220;glitch&#8221; in the phones meant important data has gone missing.</p>
<p>There may be debate about whether Trump really is, as he claims, a &#8220;stable genius,&#8221; but there&#8217;s little doubt that sometimes, he really is playing some three-dimensional chess.</p></p>

What&#8217;s most fascinating is that the &#8220;journalists&#8221; typing the term know full well that it&#8217;s false, but do it anyway.</div>

<div>So let&#8217;s take a quick look at who&#8217;s using the inaccurate term. </div>

<div>The New York Times &#8212; &#8220;Donald Trump&#8217;s Muslim Ban Is Cowardly and Dangerous.&#8221; Yes, seriously. And the paper even says &#8220;The document does not explicitly mention any religion&#8230;.&#8221; So, how is it a Muslim ban? Fuhgeddaboutit.</div>

<div>The Guardian &#8212; &#8220;The Muslim ban has brought the US close to constitutional crisis.&#8221; Oh those excitable Brits. In a story about the &#8220;Muslim ban,&#8221; writer Trevor Timm actually called Steve Bannon a white nationalist &#8212; in the lede!  top that, Americans!</div>

<p>The folks at <i>NYDN</i> love provocative, if very misleading, covers. Let&#8217;s go over the information we&#8217;re provided in the bullet points.</p>
<p>Regarding the first bullet point, of course the &#8220;news,&#8221; being largely in the tank for Hillary Clinton, would say that Comey is &#8220;reckless,&#8221; and call for his ouster.</p>
<p>The second bullet point, if it pertains to Clinton, is something the American people already know. However, if it pertains to Huma Abedin, who <a href="http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/10/29/huma-abedin-swore-under-oath-she-gave-up-all-the-devices-containing-state-department-emails.html">testified under oath</a> that she turned over all devices containing official emails, it could potentially lead to criminal charges of some kind.</p>
<p>The final bullet point implies Comey dropped this bombshell less than two weeks before the election for partisan reasons. What the <i>NYDN</i> cover fails to note is that Comey <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/fbi-to-conduct-new-investigation-of-emails-from-clintons-private-server/2016/10/28/0b1e9468-9d31-11e6-9980-50913d68eacb_story.html">didn&#8217;t know about the laptop</a> until Thursday.</p>
<p>This is garbage coverage from a garbage newspaper&#8211;one that also strongly endorsed Hillary Clinton twice.</p>
<p>In April, while Clinton was still campaigning against Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the editorial board <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/vote-hillary-clinton-article-1.2598171">called her</a> &#8220;unsparingly clear-eyed about what&#8217;s wrong with America.&#8221; In July, they <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/daily-news-editorial-board-hillary-clinton-president-article-1.2730476">wrote</a> that Clinton &#8220;is all that stands between the United States of America and never-before-seen proof that the Founding Fathers weren&#8217;t all that they&#8217;ve been cracked up to be.&#8221;</p>
<p>As circulation <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/28/nyregion/the-daily-news-layoffs-and-digital-shift-may-signal-the-tabloid-eras-end.html?_r=0">continues to plummet</a>, and layoffs are euphemistically called &#8220;restructuring,&#8221; perhaps the <i>New York Daily News</i> is trying to amp up its already outrageous covers to compensate.</p>


New York Daily News Goes Insane Over Comey With This Nutty Front Page

<p>In <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/3374/here-are-top-7-moments-republican-debate-saturday-james-barrett">the debates</a> and on the campaign trail, business mogul Donald Trump has made a lot of his New York roots and <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/3406/trump-spokeswoman-blames-jeb-911-hijackers-james-barrett">the causes and aftermath of 9/11</a>. Now a few past reports have resurfaced that call into question Trump&#8217;s financial gains from the Twin Towers tragedy.</p>
<p>Drawing from reports by the <em>New York Times </em>and the<em> New York Daily News,</em> <em>The Weekly Standard</em>&#8216;s <a href="http://www.weeklystandard.com/after-911-trump-took-money-marked-for-small-businesses/article/2001099">Michael Warren</a> recently highlighted a curious infusion of funds Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;40 Wall Street LLC&#8221; received from a federal grant for small businesses impacted by the 9/11 Twin Towers attack. The &#8220;curious&#8221; part is that by the definition spelled out in the grant, Trump&#8217;s LLC was no &#8220;small business&#8221; and thus should not have taken money from the grant.</p>
<p>Warren explains that not long after 9/11, Trump&#8217;s LLC received $150,000 from the World Trade Center Business Recovery Grant program, a program designed to help &#8220;small businesses&#8221; impacted by the devastating attack. Though <a href="http://youtu.be/ZYXygIcIJ6I?t=16s">Trump said publicly</a> that none of his businesses were directly damaged in 9/11, his LLC wound up landing the sizeable grant.</p>
<p>The problem is that his business did not meet the definition of a small business. The <em><a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/archives/news/feds-gave-donald-quick-bundle-titans-9-11-funds-set-small-biz-article-1.558429">New York Daily News </a></em>explained back in 2006:</p>

<p><em>The grant application describes the corporation through which Trump owns that building as having 28 employees and $26.8 million in annual revenues. That passed the ESDC&#8217;s small business test of less than 500 employees. But the revenue amount would put the single Trump property over the federal definition of a small business &#8211; which is $6 million annually for lessors of nonresidential buildings. A Trump spokeswoman did not respond to a call and e-mail message seeking comment.</em></p>

<p>Warren notes that as early as 2003, <a href="http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2003-12-27/news/0312270001_1_businesses-lower-manhattan-grant-program">reports</a> began to surface that the 9/11 recovery grant program, which disbursed hundreds of millions of dollars, &#8220;admitted to overpaying some firms and took back $1.2 million.&#8221; In fact, a federal audit at the time estimated that at least $5 million had been overpaid.</p>
<p>Trump said in 2005 that the &#8220;<a href="http://www.trump.com/real-estate-portfolio/new-york-ny/40-wall-street/">impressive, landmark property</a>&#8221; of 40 Wall Street was worth <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/23/business/yourmoney/whats-he-really-worth.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">$400 million</a>, and his revenues appear to have been booming, yet, as Warren writes, &#8220;through a loophole in the rules, Trump was able to squeeze $150,000 of money from taxpayers for his valuable landmark property.&#8221;</p>
<p>As was the case in the 2006 report, a Trump spokesman has so far declined comment on Warren&#8217;s story.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/02/02/new-york-daily-news-calls-donald-trump-a-dead-clown-walking/?tid=sm_tw" target="_blank">Washington Post</a> points out the long-running Trump bash theme, noting that the title is, &#8220;a sequel to &#8220;Clown runs for prez&#8221; (June 17) and &#8220;Insane clown posse&#8221; (Jan. 21). Actually, it goes back further than that &#8212; to &#8220;Sideshow Don&#8221; (April 11, 2011), when Trump was toying with the idea of a 2012 White House bid.&#8221;</p>
<p>And when Sarah Palin jumped on the Trump train, the Daily News was there like a kid on Christmas morn&#8230;</p>

<p>With regard to the &#8220;I&#8217;m With Stupid&#8221; headline, the New York Times sums up the tabloid&#8217;s explosive front page, saying, &#8220;It was the latest in a series of attention-grabbing covers that have shifted the conversation around the struggling paper. Just a few months ago, after an aborted sale and sweeping layoffs, The News seemed to have completed its devolution from the model of a big-city tabloid to a battered symbol of the diminished state of America&#8217;s newspapers. But the recent string of covers, which were all widely shared on social media, have sent a very different message &#8212; if not about the paper&#8217;s long-term financial prospects, then at least about its continuing cultural relevance.&#8221;</p>
<p>They sure hate Trump but with every headline he&#8217;s making them money. Funny how that works.</p>

New York Daily News Goes Insane Over Trump Loss

<p>The <em>New York Daily News</em> has previously <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1557/new-york-daily-news-runs-worst-headline-ever-san-robert-kraychik">scolded</a> Americans for praying, <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1605/new-york-daily-news-wrote-yesterdays-worst-amanda-prestigiacomo">equated</a> NRA President Wayne LaPierre to a radical Islamic terrorist and now, the <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/2445/god-isnt-fixing-new-york-daily-news-circulation-pardes-seleh">failing</a> publication has targeted Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz with their despicable &#8220;Drop Dead, Ted&#8221; headline accompanied by a picture of the Statue of Liberty giving the middle finger.</p>
<p>As pointed out at the Republican presidential debate on Thursday night by Cruz himself, the slanderous headline is evidence that the senator&#8217;s rising poll numbers, particularly in <a href="http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/election-2016/primary-forecast/iowa-republican/">Iowa</a>, have placed a massive target on his back&#8212;leading to both Donald Trump and the media picking up their rifles and firing away.</p>
<p>The <em>NYDN</em> cover attack is in reference to Cruz calling out opponent Donald Trump for his &#8220;New York&#8221; values. The senator was obviously depicting Trump as a liberal guy, since a state like NY is just about as blue as you can get. Trump&#8217;s dirty but effective move turned the insult around and declared that Cruz was &#8220;<a href="http://www.mediaite.com/tv/trump-lambastes-cruz-for-very-insulting-new-york-values-attack-invokes-911/">insulting</a>&#8221; NYC residents who had bravely overcome that tragic terrorist attack on 9-11.</p>
<p>Clearly the liberal <em>NYDN</em> approved of the attack, taking the handoff from Trump and running with it.</p>
<p>The subheading: &#8220;Hey, Cruz: You don&#8217;t like NY values? Go Back to Canada&#8221; also takes a dig at Cruz over the <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/2392/yes-ted-cruz-eligible-presidency-ben-shapiro">meritless</a> Trump-launched &#8220;birther&#8221; conspiracy.</p>

New York Daily News Runs Another Horrible Headline – This Time, About Cruz

<p>In response to overwhelming economic failure and a dramatic drop in sales, <em>The New York Daily News</em> announced yesterday that it is lowering its newsstand price from $1.25 back to $1.00.</p>
<p>&#8220;As New York&#8217;s hometown paper, we look for every opportunity to bring our loyal readers the news they need at a lower price point,&#8221; <em>Daily News</em> CEO and president Bill Holiber announced in a press release.</p>
<p>Five years ago, 346,000 copies of the <em>Daily News</em> were sold at newsstands every day. Now that number has dropped to 130,000, a drop even more dramatic than reflected in the overall print newspaper industry. Mort Zuckerman, owner of the <em>Daily News</em>, tried to sell the newspaper last summer but failed to find a buyer, according to <a href="http://observer.com/2016/01/new-york-daily-news-drops-newsstand-price-to-1-00/"><em>The Observer</em></a>. A massive round of layoffs took place this past fall and photographers were offered buy-outs in December.</p>
<p>The newspaper, infamous for its rants against conservatives and often times religion, was recently criticized for a controversial headline, &#8220;God Isn&#8217;t Fixing This,&#8221; following a lethal shooting in San Bernardino this past fall.</p>

<p>In a corresponding article, the <em>Daily News</em> criticized Republicans for turning to God and prayer for support instead of vying for tighter gun control.</p>
<p>The <em>Daily News</em>&#8217; Rich Schapiro <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/gop-candidates-call-prayers-calf-massacre-article-1.2453261">wrote</a>,&#8220;Prayers aren&#8217;t working &#8230; But after yet another mass shooting in America, GOP presidential contenders were conspicuously silent on the issue of gun control. Instead, the Republicans were preaching about prayer.&#8221; Schapiro went on to quote Texas Senator Ted Cruz&#8217;s tweet after the San Bernardino massacre, which included prayers sent out to the victims, their families, and the first responders in the incident.</p>
<p>Schapiro and his colleagues at the <em>Daily News</em> believe that the perfect solution to winning in a war is no guns, no God. They scoff at those who believe in prayer and protective weapons in times of trouble, but it seems they are the ones who most are in need of God&#8217;s assistance. In addition to being complete idiots, the Daily News team has successfully mastered losing God. The tabloid is now watching years of work disintegrate.</p>

God Isn’t Fixing The New York Daily News’ Circulation Crash

<p><em>The New York Daily News,</em> one of <em>Real Clear Politics</em>&#8216; &#8220;Top Ten Newspapers in Trouble,&#8221; has taken its bordering-on-parody publication to the edge and beyond over the last few weeks with its hysterical leftist positions. It&#8217;s latest anti-Donald Trump piece includes an image of the Republican presidential candidate as a jihadist beheading Lady Liberty and compares him at length to the Nazis.</p>
<p>As <em>The Daily Wire</em> has chronicled, the covers of the struggling paper (its readership having <a href="http://www.realclearpolitics.com/lists/top_10_newspapers_in_trouble/new_york_daily_news.html">plummeted </a>in recent years) have continued to one-up each other in their extremist positions on religious faith and gun control in the wake of the San Bernardino attack by two Islamic radicals. The paper&#8217;s deplorable headline the day after the attack that left 14 dead and 17 injured, which <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1557/new-york-daily-news-runs-worst-headline-ever-san-robert-kraychik">mocked people who prayed for the victims</a>, was only surpassed by its headline the next day, which tried to downplay the role of radical Islam in the attack and <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1605/new-york-daily-news-wrote-yesterdays-worst-amanda-prestigiacomo">accused NRA President Wayne La Pierre of being a &#8220;terrorist.&#8221; </a></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/ny-daily-news-cover-shocks-with-cartoon-of-donald-trump-beheading-statue-of-liberty/">front page</a> of the paper&#8217;s Wednesday issue features a cartoon depicting Trump holding a curved Arabian-style sword and holding the severed head of the Statue of Liberty. Above is a caption containing a version of the famous poem &#8220;First They Came&#8221; about the rise of the Nazis.  </p>
<p>&#8220;When Trump came for the Mexicans, I did not speak out as I was not a Mexican. When Trump came for the Muslims, I did not speak out as I was not a Muslim. Then he came for me &#8230;&#8221; it reads. </p>

<p>The cover is followed by an article by guest columnist <a href="http://www.american.edu/cas/faculty/friedman.cfm">Max Paul Friedman</a> that openly compares Trump to  further compares Trump to the Nazis, with whom Friedman says &#8220;there are discomfiting echoes.&#8221;  The American University historian goes on to detail some of the policies implemented by the Nazis, though he notes that &#8220;Trump has not proposed any of these restrictions,&#8221; but points to the Muslim database (which has been misreported) and &#8220;effectively&#8221; denying citizenship to U.S. Muslims traveling abroad (which Trump has explained is not part of his proposal) as Nazi-like actions.  &#8220;Like Jews in Germany, they would be rendered stateless,&#8221; said Friedman.</p>

Desperate New York Daily News Goes Out of Its Mind Over Trump

<p>So, Donald Trump&#8217;s supporters are racist.</p>
<p>Or, er, well, religious bigots.</p>
<p>Or something.</p>
<p>So runs the logic from the left and some of the right regarding Trump&#8217;s proposed ban on Muslim immigration. Josh Earnest declared Trump &#8220;disqualified&#8221; from the White House &#8211; an un-American notion if ever there was one &#8211; because of his position, stating that Trump would be incapable of fulfilling an oath to &#8220;preserve, protect, and defend&#8221; the Constitution.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s nonsensical but typical of the left.</p>
<p><em>The New York Daily News</em>, in its continuing quest for relevance, printed a cover with a cartoon of Trump beheading the Statue of Liberty; they then compared him to Hitler. Of course.</p>
<p>The least funny show on television, Trevor Noah&#8217;s <em>Daily Show</em> labeled Trump &#8220;white ISIS,&#8221; with correspondent Hasan Minhaj explaining that &#8220;moderate white conservatives&#8221; should denounce Trump &#8211; pretty much every conservative has, of course &#8211; and snarking, &#8220;it&#8217;s just easier on my brain to be irrationally afraid of an entire group of people.&#8221;</p>
<p>Never mind that Trump isn&#8217;t proposing beheading Muslims, as ISIS is doing. Nor does Trump propose violating the rights of American citizens (though he verged on that idiocy on the day of his original pronouncement). And, for the moment, ignore Trump&#8217;s proposal itself, which as I explained two days ago, <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1668/desperate-trump-drops-ugly-policy-bomb-ban-all-ben-shapiro">does not work practically or ethically</a>.</p>
<p>Focus instead on the notion, pushed by the left, that anyone who is <em>wary</em> of Muslim immigration is Islamophobic. Here&#8217;s the truth: for the Obama administration, <em>The New York Daily News</em>, and the clods who write <em>The Daily Show</em>, even Ted Cruz or Rand Paul proposals to curb immigration from terrorism-tolerating countries would be &#8220;Islamophobic.&#8221;</p>
<p>And some top Republicans are lending credibility to this foolishness. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan didn&#8217;t merely stop at condemning Trump&#8217;s plan. He then stated, unfactually, &#8220;The vast, vast, vast, vast majority [of Muslims]&#8230;believe in pluralism, freedom, democracy, individual rights.&#8221;</p>
<p>Um, no.</p>
<p>If we&#8217;re talking about global Islamic populations, that is certainly untrue, as I&#8217;ve repeatedly detailed in the past. You can watch my video on that matter here:</p>
<p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7TAAw3oQvg"><iframe allowfullscreen data-fid="2501" data-media-element="1" frameborder="0" height="450" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/g7TAAw3oQvg?feature=oembed" width="800"></iframe></a>Trump&#8217;s blanket Muslim immigration ban is irrational because it assumes that no Muslim can be Westernized, or at least that we can&#8217;t verify in any real way that a Muslim has been Westernized; more, it assumes that we don&#8217;t suffer a real intelligence cost by alienating all Muslims. That&#8217;s not smart.</p>
<p>But it is <em>not</em> irrational to suggest that Islamic practice heightens the statistical possibility of allegiance to an ideology that conflicts with Western thought. Statistics show that significant percentages of religious Muslims believe things that conflict at their root with Western notions of freedom. That&#8217;s not a chimera, nor is it bigotry. That&#8217;s reality.</p>
<p>But the left wishes to define away reality: now any concern about unvetted Muslims entering the United States is racism (no, it isn&#8217;t, because Islam isn&#8217;t a race) or irrational xenophobia. Reality is Islamophobic, according to the left and the more politically correct and ignorant commentators on the right. According to University of California at Berkeley Center for Race and Gender Studies, Islamophobia is based on &#8220;prevailing attitudes&#8221; that incorporate beliefs such as:</p>

<p>Islam does not share common values with other major faiths&#8230;Islam as a religion is inferior to the West. It is archaic, barbaric, and irrational&#8230;Islam is a religion of violence and supports terrorism&#8230;Islam is a violent political ideology.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>To believe any of these things, according to the left, makes you a bigot. But Islam does not share many values with other major faiths &#8211; in fact, most major non-Judeo-Christian faiths share few values. Regardless of what you think of Islam as a religion, Islamic civilization <em>is</em> inferior to the West, and is generally far more archaic and barbaric than the West. Islam may not be a violent political ideology, but the Islamic world certainly contains a virulent violent political ideology.</p>
<p>Rational people worry about unvetted Muslim immigration because rational people question whether Islam has something to do with radical Islam. They&#8217;re not fools for asking the question.</p>
<p>The left takes solace in the #YouAintNoMuslimBruv hashtag that trended on Twitter after a Muslim stabbed three people at an East London subway stop, and a passerby shouted &#8220;You ain&#8217;t no Muslim, bruv.&#8221; To pretend that the shouting Muslim quashes the threat of the stabbing Muslime is asinine.</p>
<p>Regardless what you think of Donald Trump, it&#8217;s gross to label all those who support Trump&#8217;s plan bigots. A far more likely explanation: they&#8217;re rational people with rational fears about radical Islam and its roots in Islam, and they&#8217;re embracing an irrational plan to deal with those fears. That&#8217;s bad politics, not bigotry.</p>


Stop Calling Trump Supporters Bigots For Supporting His Muslim Immigration Plan

<p>The New York Daily News <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/san-bernardino-bloodbath-born-bigots-article-1.2456491">continued</a> its left-wing ideological crusade on Saturday, publishing an op-ed that derided a man murdered by the Islamic terrorists in San Bernardino, CA. The op-ed, written by <a href="https://twitter.com/lindastasi?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor">Linda Stasi</a>, declared that Nicholas Thalasinos &#8211; a &#8220;Born Again Christian/Messianic Jew&#8221; &#8211; was &#8220;just as bigoted&#8221; as <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1556/heres-everything-we-know-about-san-bernardino-ben-shapiro">Syed Farook</a>.</p>
<p>Describing Thalasinos as a &#8220;hate-filled bigot&#8221;, Stasi implies that he had brought the mass murder upon himself. Stasi justifies this description with excerpts from the man&#8217;s Facebook profile, in which he expressed a wish to see Ann Coulter as &#8220;head of Homeland Security,&#8221; derision of the &#8220;Million Muslim March&#8221; (an event that was filled with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3p2DaIkrQk">racism</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4XBXCqyfIQ">anti-Semitism</a>), and a comment about God &#8220;blowing up Iran.&#8221;</p>
<p>Stasi described Thalasinos as &#8220;anti-government,&#8221; &#8220;anti-Islam,&#8221; &#8220;pro-NRA,&#8221; and &#8220;rabidly anti-Planned Parenthood.&#8221; Putting aside the mischaracterizations of the first two simplistic labels, Stasi is clearly indicting conservatives as the ideological counterparts of Islamic terrorists.</p>
<p>She also framed Thalasinos as a &#8220;male Pamela Geller.&#8221; Left-wing media outlets like CNN made <a href="http://www.bizpacreview.com/2015/05/04/cnns-alisyn-camerota-humiliates-herself-gets-owned-by-pamela-geller-201427">similar implications</a> following the <a href="http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/05/03/officer-and-two-suspects-down-in-gunfight-at-islamic-cartoon-contest-in-texas-possible-explosives-found/">attempted mass murder</a> by Islamic terrorists at a Geller-hosted free speech event in Texas, suggesting Geller was responsible for the attempt on her life by mocking Muhammed with a cartoon contest. Inconvenient for the left&#8217;s predictable &#8220;gun control&#8221; proposals in the aftermath of such events, the Islamic terrorists were shot and killed before being able to carry out their plans at Geller&#8217;s event.</p>
<p>Interestingly, Stasi seems unsure of the motivations of the Islamic terrorist couple from San Bernardino, stating, &#8220;Whatever spurred the carnage, the end result was the murder and maiming of innocent people enjoying a holiday party.&#8221;</p>
<p>The op-ed follows <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1557/new-york-daily-news-runs-worst-headline-ever-san-robert-kraychik">two</a> <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1605/new-york-daily-news-wrote-yesterdays-worst-amanda-prestigiacomo">headlines</a> from the newspaper in the past week, the first insulting religious people offering prayers for the victims and the second trivializing the threat of Islamic terrorism. <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1622/new-yorker-now-competing-ny-daily-news-most-absurd-amanda-prestigiacomo">The New Yorker</a> followed suit with a headline connecting what the left views as a lack of &#8220;gun control&#8221; with Wednesday&#8217;s Islamic terrorist attack.</p>

NBC&#8217;s Brian Ross &#8211; who attempted to link James Holmes to the Tea Party &#8211; implied that the mass murder was &#8220;<a href="http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2015/12/03/media-watchdog-live-wire-attacking-guns-the-faithful-and-trump-wont-say-jihad/">workplace jihad</a>.&#8221;</p>

<p>The <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1556/heres-everything-we-know-about-san-bernardino-ben-shapiro">attack</a> on Wednesday in San Bernardino by a radicalized Muslim couple that ended tragically with 14 dead and dozens injured was, by all recent accounts, an act of radical Islamic terrorism with <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1610/report-female-terrorist-san-bernardino-attack-amanda-prestigiacomo">possible links to ISIS</a>, according to U.S. officials. The liberal media, who is seemingly hell-bent on politicizing the attack for liberal gain (i.e.pushing gun control and <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1557/new-york-daily-news-runs-worst-headline-ever-san-robert-kraychik">slamming nutty Christians who pray</a>) have issued false headline after false headline.</p>

<p>The propagandized cover pushing gun control depicts a middle-American white couple buying guns at a grocery store implying that the Second Amendment is what caused the attack on Wednesday. And although the <em>New Yorker</em>&#8216;s connection is glaringly false&#8212;as <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1575/yes-san-bernardino-suspects-got-guns-legally-aaron-bandler">California has some of the strictest gun laws</a> in the country and the attack was caused by radical Islamic terrorism&#8212;the gun control narrative is still being pushed.</p>

The New Yorker Now Competing with the NY Daily News for Most Absurd Cover

<p>The day following an attack by a devout Muslim husband and wife duo in San Bernardino, California which left 14 dead, the <em>New York Daily News</em> <a href="http://www.dailywire.com/news/1557/new-york-daily-news-runs-worst-headline-ever-san-robert-kraychik">ran a supremely offensive headline which condemned prayer</a>. Today, seemingly looking to eclipse their despicable behavior from the previous day, the paper ran a headline which equated the head of the NRA, Wayne LaPierre, with Syed Farook, one of the perpetrators of Wednesday&#8217;s terrorist attack.</p>

<p>&#8220;Syed Farook joins long list of murderous psychos enabled by NRA&#8217;s sick gun jihad against American in the name of profit,&#8221; reads the cover, under a picture of Farook.</p>
<p>The headline incorrectly implies that all the men on the cover are &#8220;psychos&#8221; and mentally unstable; which is certainly not the case for Farook, who was a Muslim adhering to his ideology. In addition to labeling LaPierre as a terrorist, the cover also slanders the NRA&#8217;s <a href="http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/01/15/nra-membership-has-grown-by-250000-in-one-month">4 million plus members</a> and all others who support the Second Amendment and believe they have the right to defend themselves.</p>
<p>The four murderers on the cover are certainly despicable human beings, but all they happen to be white males&#8211;the publication conveniently left out the Muslim &#8220;<a href="http://www.wsj.com/articles/dzhokhar-tsarnaev-apologizes-before-being-sentenced-to-death-for-boston-bombing-1435170191">Boston Bombers</a>,&#8221; the shooter who killed <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/16/us/tennessee-naval-reserve-shooting/">four Marines</a> in Tennessee and the Muslim <a href="http://www.nbcnews.com/id/33678801/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/t/gunman-kills-wounds-fort-hood/">Fort Hood</a> &#8220;workplace violence&#8221; shooter. </p>
