<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Daniel Dye, 22, after he mocked another racer using what he described as a &#8220;gay voice&#8221; during a livestream.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The <a href="https://x.com/LostSchemes/status/2033933092109303947">video</a> that circulated on social media Tuesday shows the Kaulig Racing driver altering his voice to imitate fellow driver David Malukas.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“As soon I start doing a David Malukas gay voice I get a gold, so let’s keep it going,” Dye can be heard saying in the clip.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Malukas, a 24-year-old Team Penske driver, has frequently been pictured on social media with his girlfriend, Kamila Jurkus, and has not publicly identified as gay. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Dye issued an apology later Tuesday, saying he chose his words “poorly” and understood why they upset people. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I have some close friends in the LGBTQ+ community who I would never want to feel less of themselves because of what I said,&#8221; Dye wrote. &#8220;That’s exactly why I should hold myself to a higher standard.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">NASCAR has not provided a timeline for Dye&#8217;s reinstatement.</span></p>
<p>Brad Moran, managing director of the NASCAR Cup Series, said Dye must complete a customized program before being considered to return.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“They are all one-on-one and customized to fit every situation,” he </span><a href="https://www.nascar.com/videos/franchise/tuned-in/nascar-official-explains-process-for-dyes-return/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">said</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> during an interview with Sirius XM. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Once he gets through the program, and the folks that hold and manage the program are comfortable that there were some good lessons taught, and he understands the severity of what these things can do to folks, once that happens, he gets put back in for reinstatement,” Moran added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is the second time Dye has been suspended.</span></p>

<p>Longtime NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family were among those killed in a plane crash on Thursday morning in Statesville, North Carolina, about 45 miles outside of Charlotte.</p>
<p>Representative Richard Hudson confirmed the news.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my heart is with all who loved them,&#8221; Rep. Hudson said.</p>
<p>Biffle&#8217;s close friend, Garrett Mitchell <a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AMbpQWYR7/">said</a> the Biffles were flying to visit him when the plane crashed.</p>
<p>&#8220;Unfortunately, I can confirm Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder were on that plane &#8230; because they were on their way to spend the afternoon with us. We are devastated. I&#8217;m so sorry to share this,&#8221; Mitchell said.</p>
<p>Biffle&#8217;s daughter was a teenager, and their son had just turned five.</p>
<p>A source with knowledge of the situation told The Daily Wire there were a total of six passengers on board.</p>
<p>According to airport officials, the Cessna C550 airplane crashed while landing at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DkbX45b4h/">Statesville Regional Airport</a> around 10:15 a.m. <a href="https://x.com/Breaking911/status/2001696669822284016?s=20">Video</a> from witnesses showed the aircraft engulfed in flames near the runway. The crash caused a multi-agency response.</p>
<p>Flight tracking records showed a Cessna C550, registered to GB Aviation Leasing LLC, that took off from Statesville Regional Airport at 10:06 a.m. before turning around shortly after takeoff to head back to the airport. GB Aviation Leasing LLC is a private company linked to Biffle.</p>

<p>Biffle was a longtime NASCAR driver, becoming one of only three drivers to win the Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series. He was a nominee for the 2025 NASCAR Hall of Fame.</p>
<p>Biffle was known for more than just his skills on the track. He was a humanitarian who helped out greatly when North Carolina was devastated by Hurricane Helene. Biffle used his personal helicopter to take generators, chainsaws, water, and essential supplies needed to those in the impossible-to-reach regions devastated by the storm. He even helped raise more than $60,000 from t-shirt sales for western North Carolina relief efforts.</p>
<p>&#8220;They were friends who lived their lives focused on helping others,&#8221; Rep. Hudson said. &#8220;He was an extraordinary person as well, and will be remembered for his service to others as much as for his fearlessness on the track.</p>
<p>Biffle said he loved anything with gas and wheels — it was evident in his love for aviation.</p>
<p>The private pilot flew out of the Statesville airport often. According to the city of Statesville’s website, the airport is city-owned and provides corporate aviation facilities for Fortune 500 companies and several NASCAR teams.</p>
<p>Airport officials said in a press conference Thursday that the airport is shut down while debris is cleaned up. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. At this time, there is no official cause of the crash.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 30-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Andrew Desbordes, covered his face and upper body in very realistic paint to make himself appear to be a Caucasian man with a farmer’s tan sunburn. He wore no shirt under a pair of overalls, and accentuated the look with an American flag cowboy hat, American flag tattoos, a mullet, and a beard and mustache combo.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Clips of the skit have gone viral, with the X clip of the bit racking up 84 million views.</span></p>

<p>Former NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick said supporting men in women’s sports is “irrational” as she defended former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines in her spat with Olympic gymnast Simone Biles over trans-identifying athletes.</p>
<p>“This issue has a shelf life,” Patrick said in a social media post. “I truly believe common sense will prevail. But until then, I am grateful for people like Riley Gaines who are making sure no one gets away with it. Not to mention the fact that she actually lived it.”</p>
<p>The argument began over the weekend, when Biles attacked Gaines and voiced support for trans-identifying athletes. Gaines had recently criticized a trans-identifying man who led a Minnesota high school softball team to win a state championship.</p>
<p>“You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race,” Biles said in a post on X. “Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! <p>Studies differ on whether or not biological differences impact driving ability. A 2016 study of 35 male drivers and 25 female drivers <a href="https://www.jebmh.com/articles/effect-of-gender-difference-on-brake-reaction-time.pdf.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> men had a higher reaction time when braking, while a Michigan State University study from 2019 of six male drivers and six female drivers <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30925578/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found</a> no significant physiological differences between sexes in racecar driving.</p>
<p>Patrick herself seems to believe there is a biological difference. In 2023, she said racecar driving is “masculine” by nature, according to Planet F1.</p>
<p>“​​You have to, you know, handle the car — not only just the car because that’s skill, but the mindset that it takes to be really good is something that’s not normal in a feminine mind, a female mind,” Patrick said.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">After Sunday night’s NASCAR All-Star Race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. fired a punch at Kyle Busch because Busch had used his car to shove Stenhouse Jr. into a crash with the wall on Lap 2, forcing him out of the race.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Busch was apparently prompted to retaliate after Stenhouse Jr. went three-wide on the first lap. Stenhouse could not exit the track until the race was over, as the North Wilkesboro track had no way out of the infield. Stenhouse Jr. parked his car in Busch&#8217;s pit stall and told an interviewer he would be waiting for Busch, Yahoo Sports <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/nascar-ricky-stenhouse-jr-throws-punch-at-kyle-busch-after-all-star-race-020311803.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, adding that he mentioned the 2011 incident when car owner Richard Childress, 65,  <a href="https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nascar-from-the-marbles/richard-childress-faces-discipline-punching-kyle-busch-150715971.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">punched</a> Busch, then 26. Busch had door-slammed Joey Coulter, who raced for Childress in the O&#8217;Reilly Auto Parts 250.</p>

I’m not sure why he was so mad. I shoved it three-wide, but he hit the fence and kind of came off the wall and ran into me. I don’t know, when I was talking to him, he kept saying that I wrecked him. Definitely built up frustration with how he runs his mouth all the time about myself. I know he’s frustrated because he doesn’t run near as good as he used to.”</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">On the way to his stall, Busch said, “First lap of the race, we don&#8217;t even have water temp in the car yet and we&#8217;re wrecking each other off of [Turn] 2. <p>NASCAR driver Ryan Preece was discharged from a Florida hospital early Sunday morning, nearly 12 hours after his Ford Mustang violently barrel-rolled about a dozen times during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.</p>
<p>Stewart-Haas Racing <a href="https://twitter.com/StewartHaasRcng" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on X that Preece was returning to North Carolina after overnight observation at the Halifax Health Medical Center, where he had been “awake, alert and mobile” and “communicating with family and friends,” according to a previous update.</p>
<p>The 32-year-old professional racecar driver was on Lap 156 of the 160-lap race of Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series when Preece’s No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford lifted off the ground, tumbled in the air, and rolled on the grass near the racetracks back straightaway before coming to a complete stop on all four tires.</p>

<p>When Preece’s vehicle finally stabilized on the ground, he climbed out with the help of AMR Safety Team emergency workers, who transported him on a gurney and into an ambulance to the infield care center, then to Halifax Health Center.</p>

<p>Briscoe reportedly said he had seen his teammate after the race but was thinking about Preece and his family.</p>
<p>“Obviously, Ryan got turned or something and came across my nose, and then we all started wrecking,’ Briscoe <a href="https://www.racingamerica.com/news/nascar/ryan-preece-transported-to-local-hospital-following-vicious-flip">told</a> Racing America. “Just thinking about him and his family, you know that’s a teammate there. Just super unfortunate to see that happen to anybody, let alone a teammate. Hopefully, he’s OK. Just thinking about him and praying for him.”</p>
<p>Briscoe experienced a similar crash during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 in 2022 when his vehicle launched into the air after getting spun off Turn 4.</p>

<p>“We can’t wreck cars like that every time we come to a superspeedway,” he said. “These cars, with how the bottom is, as soon as they get any air, it just flips them right over. Whenever you’re running 190 mph, and you go airborne, it’s not good. Especially when there’s grass and stuff involved. We definitely need to do something. I don’t know what it is that we can do, but we need to do something.”</p>
<p>Saturday night’s race was Preece’s final chance to qualify for the 2023 playoffs, according to <a href="https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/violent-airborne-wreck-ryan-preece-hospital-daytona/10512111/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Motorsport.com</a>.</p>
<p>After emergency crews transported Preece off the track, the race went into overtime, where Chris Buescher scored the victory.</p>
<p>“Ryan is a good friend of mine,” Buescher told NBC. “While we were in Victory Lane, we got word that he’s at the hospital, that they’re running through a lot of stuff and that he’s doing well. That’s good to hear.”</p>

<p>Noah Gragson was suspended by NASCAR and Legacy Motor Club after he reportedly liked a meme on Instagram that mocked George Floyd&#8217;s death.</p>

<p>Both NASCAR and Legacy Motor Club released statements confirming the decision.</p>
<p>&#8220;NASCAR fully supports Legacy Motor Club’s decision to suspend Noah Gragson,&#8221; NASCAR said in a statement. &#8220;Following his actions on social media, NASCAR has determined that Gragson has violated the Member Conduct section of the 2023 NASCAR Rule Book and has placed him under indefinite suspension.&#8221;</p>
<p>Legacy Motor Club said in a statement: &#8220;We have made the decision to suspend Noah Gragson effective immediately regarding his actions that do not represent the values of our team.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Josh Berry will drive the No. 42 entry for this weekend&#8217;s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan,&#8221; the team added.</p>
<p>Gragson apologized for liking the meme, writing: &#8220;I am disappointed in myself for my lack of attention and actions on social media.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I understand the severity of this situation,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I love and appreciate everyone. I try to treat everyone equally no matter who they are. I messed up plain and simple.&#8221;</p>

<p>The parents of Johnson’s wife, Chandra Janway, along with the seven-time champion’s 11-year-old nephew, were found shot to death in their Muskogee, Oklahoma, home on June 26, the New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/06/27/jimmie-johnsons-in-laws-dead-in-apparent-murder-suicide/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Jack Janway, 69, his wife Terry, 68, and their grandson Dalton were found.</p>
<p>Reports indicate that it was Johnson’s mother-in-law, Terry, who shot and killed her husband and grandson before calling 911 to report that someone had a gun, then quickly ended the call. She then turned the gun on herself and took her own life, police said, according to the New York Post.</p>
<p>Police arrived at the home to find a body lying in the hallway just inside the front door. They then heard gunshots and pulled the body out of the home before asking anyone else inside to come out, the Post reported. They found the other two bodies in a different part of the house.</p>
<p>Police have not said which bodies were found where.</p>

<p>Johnson canceled his participation in a race at a street event in Chicago the weekend of the tragedy.</p>
<p>Muskogee Mayor Marlon Coleman <a href="https://www.fox23.com/news/local/3-people-dead-after-shooting-in-muskogee/article_96008038-14d4-11ee-a67a-efcfc90e85e4.html?taid=649ac4c9f8ccd40001c24137&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=trueanthem&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox 23 that he knew the family since Jack was a prominent chiropractor in the town.</p>
<p>“It was traumatizing to find out that a long-standing family who had made so many contributions to our community was involved in this type of incident. It was even more bone-chilling to find out there was a child involved,” Coleman told the outlet. “I knew Dr. Janway. Dr. Janway has worked on me, we’ve been acquaintances for a very, very long time since I’ve been in Muskogee. Just knowing that it was him and his family took a different toll on me.”</p>
<p>It was not the first tragedy suffered by the Janway family.</p>
<p>In 2014, Jordan Janway, Chandra’s younger brother, was killed in a skydiving accident, KNSD-TV <a href="https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/jordan-janway-san-diego-skydiving-accident-fatal-fall-midair-collision/1973471/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> at the time. Jordan was described by the outlet as a seasoned skydiver who died following a midair collision. Jordan’s death came just hours after Johnson finished second in a race at Martinsville Speedway.</p>
