Danny Masterson, famously known for his role as Steven Hyde in “That &#8217;70s Show,” was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison on Thursday after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/actor-danny-masterson-found-guilty-of-two-counts-of-rape-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Los Angeles jury found him guilty</a> of raping two women at his Hollywood Hills home in the early 2000s.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo handed the sentence to the 47-year-old actor after he reportedly listened to statements from the women he was convicted of sexually assaulting in 2003.
“Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence, and thus no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you,” Olmedo told Masterson before handing down the sentence, according to <a href="https://apnews.com/article/danny-masterson-sentencing-rape-trial-fd7a10eda44d0e3ddde582d4c7053eb6?taid=64fa1b51c3af050001f10525&amp;utm_campaign=TrueAnthem&amp;utm_medium=AP&amp;utm_source=Twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Associated Press</a>. “But Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here. Your actions 20 years ago took away another person’s voice, and choice. One way or another you will have to come to terms with your prior actions, and their consequences.”
A Los Angeles jury found Masterson guilty of two counts of rape in a retrial in May after several women he met through the Church of Scientology accused him of sexual assault in the early 2000s.
According to reports, the jury of seven women and five men reached the verdict after seven days of deliberation, but couldn’t decide on another sexual assault charge involving an ex-girlfriend, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, with 8 of 12 jurors favoring a guilty verdict.
The retrial comes after three women — Carnell-Bixler and two Jane Does — came forward over six years ago and accused Masterson of sexually assaulting them between 2001 and 2003, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Masterson allegedly drugged and raped the women in his Hollywood Hills home. A judge declared the first round of deliberations a mistrial in November after the jury deadlocked.
Before the sentencing on Thursday, Masterson’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, reportedly told the judge that “his life that will be impacted by what you decide today.”
“And the life of his 9-year-old daughter, who means the world to him, and to whom he means the world,” Holley said. “He has lived an exemplary life, he has been an extraordinary father, husband, brother, son, co-worker and community servant.”

Masterson rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s while starring in “That ’70s Show” alongside Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Topher Grace.
In 2016, Masteron and Kutcher reunited on the Netflix comedy “The Ranch” until the sitcom wrote his character off the show following a Los Angeles Police Department investigation.
The women reportedly testified that church officials conspired with Masterson to cover up the incidents and not to report a member to law enforcement. They have previously said the reason LAPD and other law enforcement agencies refused to pursue Masterson was due to his affiliation with the Church of Scientology, and the church intervened in his case, impeding the investigation by filing “50 affidavits from Scientologists who denied the woman’s account.”
Scientology church officials have “vehemently denied having any policy that forbids members from going to secular authorities,” the Associated Press reported.
After the verdict earlier this year, the church told the outlet in a statement that the “testimony and descriptions of Scientology beliefs” during the trial were “uniformly false.”
“The Church has no policy prohibiting or discouraging members from reporting criminal conduct of anyone — Scientologists or not — to law enforcement,” the statement said.
Masterson reportedly said previously that the sexual relations between him and his accusers were consensual and denied the rape allegations that the women brought against him during the #MeToo wave in 2018.
“It seems as if you are presumed guilty the moment you are accused,” he said when the allegations were first brought against him.
Masterson, who did not testify or have his lawyers call witnesses, will be eligible for parole after serving 25 1/2 years, but could reportedly be imprisoned for life.

Lizzo is just one example of an increasingly common phenomenon: high-profile employers facing media scandals and expensive litigation due to toxic workplace allegations.
According to recent reports, pop star Lizzo has been dropped from the shortlist of performers being considered for the Super Bowl halftime show. This is the latest public setback for the embattled star, who was recently sued by three former dancers alleging that her company created a hostile work environment of weight-shaming, sexual harassment, extreme stress, and other problems. The resulting media coverage presented a damning story to the public, and Lizzo&#8217;s online streams and downloads plummeted dramatically while her image transformed overnight.
However, as is common in many of these situations, the lawsuit generating such breathless negative media coverage is itself quite weak. The suit is rife with questionable assumptions and leaps of logic. The most publicly damaging allegations — such as those of weight shaming lack any substantiation whatsoever. At times the lawsuit reads like the diary of a person afflicted by paranoia. Perhaps this is why Lizzo and her team confronted the main claimant about her mental health at one point, as the lawsuit alleges.
Yet the flawed nature of the lawsuit has not prevented it from causing tremendous damage to Lizzo&#8217;s image. Almost no one will actually read the lawsuit or read it with a critical eye, as the claimants and their attorneys well know, but bad headlines generated by the lawsuit are the real objective anyway. Those headlines can force an employer to the settlement table, no matter the facts: many of these suits are blatant money grabs aimed at easy settlements.
Toxic workplace allegations are becoming increasingly common, particularly in situations with high-profile targets and heavy media attention. Often these allegations entail lawsuits, but in many cases, damaging media coverage is the goal of disgruntled ex-employees. 
Recently, talk show host and pop star Kelly Clarkson was accused by multiple anonymous employees in a hit piece by Rolling Stone. According to her accusers, her highly rated “The Kelly Clarkson Show” is run by overly demanding producers who don&#8217;t pay lower-level staff what they believe they should make. Similar allegations dogged the canceled HBO Max shows “Lovecraft Country” and “The Other Two,” while the Woody Harrelson series “The White House Plumbers” officially paused production to deal with workplace toxicity claims. In another arena, famous celebrity chef and restauranteur Barbara Lynch found herself besieged in the press recently over her supposedly toxic managerial style.
If you find such claims highly subjective, you are correct. In fact, the problem with many of these toxic workplace scandals is their basis on the claimant&#8217;s subjective perception and understanding of events. Whereas the bar for establishing a toxic workplace claim was once quite high, it has now become unnecessary to prove anything at all to launch a negative media campaign, damage the target&#8217;s reputation, or even cancel the target altogether.
In hindsight, Ellen DeGeneres may have been the canary in the coal mine. In 2020, the media gleefully disseminated and amplified the claims of anonymous ex-employees who complained about the high-stress environment on “The Ellen Show.” A number of these overwrought allegations bordered on the comical, and one might wonder how much of this much ado about nothing is the result of a discordance between generational worldviews: one can detect in many of these allegations a particular whine indicative of a younger, self-entitled perspective. At any rate, despite any proof of actual misconduct, “The Ellen Show” was canceled within months.

If it feels as if we have been down this road before, perhaps that is because the new #ToxicWork movement feels similar to #MeToo in a number of concerning respects. Both movements contain threads of well-intentioned sentiment but are all too often weaponized to settle personal grievances, generate media coverage, and make money. And just as heavily publicized #MeToo claims often rely less on legitimate evidence of wrongdoing and more on subjective &#8220;she-said&#8221; accounts, so too do many allegations of workplace toxicity presented in the media and in high-profile civil litigation. In far too many situations, the truth doesn&#8217;t matter and it certainly doesn&#8217;t outweigh the power of dramatic, attention-grabbing misconduct headlines. And of course, the reputational and professional damage done is generally irreparable even if the claims can be legally invalidated.
Perhaps we would do well to take a lesson from #MeToo&#8217;s failures all too clearly illustrated in the hoax against Johnny Depp exposed last year in court and reserve judgment on toxic workplace allegations until such claims have been proved in court. A successful career takes decades to build but only hours to destroy in our current cancel culture.

In a courtroom on Wednesday, the 64-year-old actor reportedly wept after Justice Mark Wall told the Hollywood star that he was cleared of all charges and concluded that the &#8220;defendant may be discharged,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/kevin-spacey-uk-trial-verdict-not-guilty-1235543727/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported.
After exiting the courtroom, Spacey spoke to the press and thanked his legal team, the jury, and the court staff.

Spacey previously pleaded not guilty to 9 counts stemming from allegations that he had sexually assaulted four men between 2004 and 2013 in London, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/actor-kevin-spacey-acquitted-all-nine-sexual-offence-charges-london-trial-2023-07-26/?taid=64c1317bbbd95200010df6dc&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+Trending+Content&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Reuters</a> noted. The allegations ranged from unwanted touching to aggressive fondling to, in one case, performing oral sex on an unconscious actor.
The &#8220;House of Cards&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kevin-spacey-must-pay-tens-of-millions-of-dollars-to-house-of-cards-producers-after-alleged-sexual-misconduct-on-set" target="_blank" rel="noopener">star</a> originally faced 12 charges when the trial started in June, People Magazine noted. During the trial, an indecent assault charge was added. However, all four indecent assault charges were later dropped due to a &#8220;legal technicality.&#8221;
Spacey denied all allegations against him, labeling two of them consensual and another a &#8220;clumsy pass.&#8221;
&#8220;While I am disappointed with [the Crown Prosecution Service&#8217;s] decision to move forward, I will voluntarily appear in the U.K. as soon as can be arranged and defend myself against these charges, which I am confident will prove my innocence,&#8221; Spacey said on <a href="https://www.goodmorningamerica.com/culture/story/kevin-spacey-voluntarily-court-sexual-assault-charges-85056782" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Good Morning America</a> when the charges were announced.
Spacey was one of the most prominent figures accused of sexual misconduct during the start of the #MeToo era.  In November 2017, he was fired from the Netflix series &#8220;House of Cards&#8221; following a string of sexual assault and misconduct allegations against him.
One such accusation came from &#8220;Star Trek: Discovery&#8221; star Anthony Rapp, who accused Spacey of making a sexual advance toward him at a party in 1986, when Rapp was 14. Spacey denies the allegations. Rapp brought a civil lawsuit against Spacey but lost the case in 2022 when the actor was found not liable for battery, People noted.

UFC Irish fighter <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/conor-mcgregor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Conor McGregor</a> has been accused of &#8220;violently&#8221; sexually assaulting a woman inside a men&#8217;s bathroom at the Kaseya Center in Florida last week during Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.
The incident allegedly happened after the Nuggets defeated the Heat on June 9, according to demand letters sent to McGregor obtained by TMZ Sports.
In the letters, attorney Ariel Mitchell claims NBA and Miami Heat security aided the attack by separating the unnamed woman from her friend and forcing her into a restroom where McGregor and a personal security guard were waiting.
&#8220;Security refused to let [the woman] exit or allow anyone else, including her friend, inside the bathroom,&#8221; Mitchell wrote, adding that McGregor allegedly appeared from inside a wheelchair-accessible stall &#8220;and shoved his tongue in the victim&#8217;s mouth and aggressively kissed her.&#8221;
The letters further stated the woman told the 34-year-old fighter she had to urinate, which helped remove him from her. However, the letters claim McGregor forced the woman to have oral sex with him, grabbed and pinned her against the bathroom wall, and attempted to &#8220;sodomize her.&#8221;
At that point, Mitchell wrote in the letters that the woman repeatedly elbowed the former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion, which helped her escape. As the woman fled the scene, she allegedly left her purse that McGregor&#8217;s security guards &#8220;held hostage&#8221; until she pleaded for them to return the personal belonging to her.
Two days later, the woman allegedly reported the assault to local authorities on Sunday morning, who encouraged her to seek legal representation.
The Miami Police Department told <a href="https://twitter.com/TMZ/status/1669433258671591425?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ that an investigation</a> into the matter is ongoing.

Attorneys representing McGregor reportedly denied the allegations, adding that the mixed martial artist &#8220;will not be intimidated.&#8221;
Miami Heat officials on Thursday released a statement saying the basketball organization is aware of the allegations and would conduct a full investigation into the matter while the NBA is working with the team to gather more information.

UFC officials addressed the allegations and said they would also work to gather more information.
&#8220;The organization is aware of the recent allegations regarding Conor McGregor and will continue to gather additional details regarding the incident,&#8221; UFC said in a statement published by TSN <a href="https://twitter.com/aaronbronsteter/status/1669426790362669056" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reporter</a> Aaron Bronsteter. &#8220;UFC will allow the legal process to play out before making any additional statements.&#8221;
McGregor faced <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/mma/news/conor-mcgregor-under-investigation-for-second-sexual-assault-accusation-per-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sexual assault allegations in 2019</a> after an Ireland woman claimed he assaulted her inside her vehicle outside a Dublin pub. In September 2020, authorities arrested the UFC fighter in Corsica on suspicion of attempted sexual assault and indecent exposure. He also faced a separate assault accusation in <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/mma/news/conor-mcgregor-denies-assault-allegations-from-woman-on-his-yacht-last-summer-in-ibiza/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 2023</a>.
The alleged incident occurred during the same NBA Finals game where McGregor participated in a halftime skit that sent the Heat&#8217;s mascot &#8220;Burnie&#8221; to the emergency room after he punched the person inside the costume multiple times while promoting his TIDL Sport recovery spray.

Actor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kevin-spacey">Kevin Spacey</a> said he isn’t concerned about the future of his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Hollywood</a> career despite current and past <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/sexual-assault">sexual assault</a> charges.
“I know that there are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London. The second that happens, they’re ready to move forward,” the 63-year-old told <a href="https://www.presseportal.de/en/pm/9377/5533591">ZEITmagazin</a> ahead of his London trial, which begins June 28 and is expected to last four weeks.
Spacey’s legal drama began in 2017 during the height of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/metoo">#MeToo</a> movement when “Star Trek: Discovery” star Anthony Rapp <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-kevin-spacey-did-not-molest-actor-anthony-rapp-civil-jury-concludes">claimed</a> that Spacey made a sexual advance toward him in 1986 when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26.
Spacey <a href="https://twitter.com/KevinSpacey/status/924848412842971136">posted</a> on Twitter that he did not remember having that experience with Rapp, but didn’t rule it out.
&#8220;But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior,&#8221; Spacey wrote on social media while simultaneously coming out as gay.
&#8220;This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are other stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy,&#8221; he wrote, saying he was planning to &#8220;live as a gay man&#8221; going forward.
The allegations spurred 15 other people to <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/2017/11/07/kevin-spacey-scandal-complete-list-13-accusers/835739001/">come forward</a> with their own stories of alleged sexual abuse from Spacey. The actor currently faces 12 sexual assault cases in the U.K. and pleaded not guilty to all of them.
“It’s a time in which a lot of people are very afraid that if they support me, they will be canceled,” Spacey told ZEITmagazin about the repercussions for his career and reputation.

&#8220;I thank the jury for its service, and while I&#8217;m encouraged that Danny Masterson will face some criminal punishment, I am devastated that he has dodged criminal accountability for his heinous conduct against me,&#8221; Jane Doe 3 said in a statement provided to ABC News through her attorneys from Boies Schiller Flexner. &#8220;Despite my disappointment in this outcome, I remain determined to secure justice, including in civil court, where I, along with my co-plaintiffs, will shine a light on how Scientology and other conspirators enabled and sought to cover up Masterson&#8217;s monstrous behavior.&#8221;
Jane Doe 2, also represented by Boies Schiller Flexner, reportedly echoed Jane Doe 3’s disappointment that the jury did not convict Masterson on all three counts.
&#8220;I am experiencing a complex array of emotions – relief, exhaustion, strength, sadness – knowing that my abuser, Danny Masterson, will face accountability for his criminal behavior,&#8221; Jane Doe 2 said in a statement. &#8220;I am disappointed that he was not convicted on all counts, but take great solace in the fact that he, the Church of Scientology and others will have to fully account for their abhorrent actions in civil court.&#8221;
Carnell-Bixler, whose count left the jury deadlocked, said in the statement reported by ABC: &#8220;While I&#8217;m encouraged that Danny Masterson will face some criminal punishment, I am devastated that he has dodged criminal accountability for his heinous conduct against me.&#8221;
Masterson, who left the courtroom in handcuffs, faces 30 years to life in prison. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for August 4.

Wilson herself is under an NDA and still refuses to talk about the reason she walked away from the Showtime series &#8220;The Affair&#8221; in 2018 over its alleged &#8220;hostile work environment.&#8221;
At the time, a <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/actress-slams-fickle-metoo-movement-calls-hollywood-having-no-moral-backbone">production insider</a> said, &#8220;Over and over again, I witnessed Sarah Treem [showrunner] try to cajole actors to get naked even if they were uncomfortable or not contractually obligated to. It&#8217;s things you would think would be coming out of a man&#8217;s mouth from the 1950s.&#8221;
Treem has maintained she &#8220;would never say those things to an actor&#8221; and has &#8220;always been a feminist.&#8221;

&#8220;Knives Out&#8221; star Toni Collette has a very different view of the use of intimacy coordinators on the sets of movies and TV shows in the wake of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/metoo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MeToo</a> movement.
The 50-year-old actress admitted that some might find the use of the coordinators helpful during the filming of sex scenes, but for her, they made her &#8220;feel more anxious,&#8221; the <a href="https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/toni-collette-intimacy-coaches-the-power-muriels-wedding-pj00086bv" target="_blank" rel="noopener">U.K. The Times</a> reported, according to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/toni-collette-intimacy-coordinators-qantas-brand-deal-1235358587/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hollywood Reporter</a>.

The introduction of intimacy coordinators was one of the results of the MeToo movement that rocked the entertainment industry and more in 2017. The decision was to have them on set during the shooting of intimate sex scenes.

In the 57-year-old actress&#8217; upcoming two-part Hulu documentary, &#8220;Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby&#8221; the &#8220;Blue Lagoon&#8221; star explained she never told anyone about the assault and said back then &#8220;people weren&#8217;t believing those stories,&#8221; <a href="https://people.com/movies/brooke-shields-reveals-sexually-assaulted-30-years-ago-exclusive/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People magazine</a> reported.

&#8220;Doing the documentary, you see it all together, and it&#8217;s a miracle that I survived,&#8221; she added of the assault in her 20s. &#8220;It&#8217;s taken me a long time to process it.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m more angry now than I was able to be then,&#8221; the actress continued. &#8220;If you&#8217;re afraid, you&#8217;re rightfully so. They are scary situations. They don&#8217;t have to be violent to be scary.&#8221;
The &#8220;Endless Love&#8221; star, at the time of the assault, had just graduated from college and was struggling to find work. She went to dinner with this Hollywood executive believing she was going to get a job, a role in a movie.
Shields said after dinner the person said she could call for a cab from his hotel room and it was there she said the assault occurred.
&#8220;I didn&#8217;t fight,&#8221; the actress said in the documentary. &#8220;I just froze.&#8221;
Afterwards she blamed herself saying, &#8220;Why did I go up with him? I shouldn&#8217;t have had that drink at dinner.'&#8221;
&#8220;It was really easy to disassociate because by then it was old hat,&#8221; Shields said. &#8220;And because it was a fight-or-flight type of choice. Fight was not an option, so you just leave your body. &#8216;You&#8217;re not there. It didn&#8217;t happen.'&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;d always had a sense of disassociation from my body. From my sexuality,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I was mostly a cover girl … And it was just easier to shut myself off. I was good at it.&#8221;
Shields said she decided to do the documentary &#8220;with the hopes of helping people not feel alone. Everybody processes their own trauma on a different timeline. I want to be an advocate for women to be able to speak their truth.&#8221;
The actress is married to comedy writer and director Chris Henchy and the two share two daughters together.

Brooke Shields Opens Up About Sexual Assault, Blames Herself

Disgraced Hollywood film producer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/harvey-weinstein">Harvey Weinstein</a>, 70, was just sentenced to 16 years in prison, making it all but certain that he’ll spend the rest of his life behind bars.
The latest sentencing decision was handed down in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hollywood">Los Angeles</a> Thursday morning, nearly two months after he was found guilty of three counts of rape and sexual assault, per <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/news/harvey-weinstein-sentenced-los-angeles-prison-term-1235531069/">Variety</a>. Weinstein is currently serving a 23-year sentence in New York following convictions for rape and sexual assault from a 2020 guilty conviction. 
His most recent convictions stem from an accuser referred to as Jane Doe #1, a European model who testified she was raped by Weinstein at Mr. C Hotel after the L.A. Italia Film Festival in 2013. 
Jurors determined Weinstein was guilty of forcible rape and other charges relating to Jane Doe #1, not guilty of sexual battery for Jane Doe #3, and came back with a hung jury for counts related to Jane Doe #2 and California’s first lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
Weinstein was also acquitted of a sexual battery allegation made by another woman, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/disgraced-movie-mogul-harvey-weinstein-found-guilty-of-rape-in-los-angeles-trial">reported</a>. Jurors reached the verdict after nearly 41 hours of deliberations over 10 days in December 2022. The film producer pleaded not guilty on all seven counts. He was facing up to 24 additional years in prison.
Meanwhile, Weinstein’s lawyers have been fighting to get their client a new trial and a new jury from his 2020 sex crimes conviction. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/courts">New York’s Court of Appeals</a> agreed to hear Weinstein’s appeal.
Prosecutors argued that Weinstein was a sexual predator who wielded his power over women while the film producer’s defense team countered that the women engaged in “transactional sex” to establish their Hollywood careers and did so willingly. 
Weinstein was originally a kingpin of the entertainment industry and is the co-founder of Miramax. His legend status fell apart in 2017 when more and more women came forward to accuse the producer of sexual misconduct in what would later become the beginning of the #MeToo movement. The story of Weinstein’s rise and downfall was even turned into a movie, “She Said” (2022).

Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Salma Hayek, Reese Witherspoon, and more were quick to voice their support for the #MeToo Hollywood non-profit organization <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/weinstein-accuser-blasts-hollywood-me-too-group-for-focusing-on-left-wing-political-interests-instead-of-victims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Time&#8217;s Up</a> five years ago, but have been absolutely silent now that it&#8217;s collapsed.
Time&#8217;s Up was originally created to fight sexual harassment in the entertainment industry following numerous allegations against Harvey Weinstein. However, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/times-up-metoo-1ac800e48a96357d7fb29c18848c50d2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">news recently surfaced that the time is up for Time&#8217;s Up</a>, after it announced it was halting operations and the group&#8217;s remaining $1.7 million in funds were being reallocated to a legal defense fund.
The collapse for the group started two years ago when the head of Time&#8217;s Up Tina Tchen and attorney Roberta Kaplan were found to have helped then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo handle sexual harassment allegations brought by accuser Lindsey Boylan and 10 others, The <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/21/us/times-up-metoo-sexual-harassment.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Times</a> reported. The group was also found to remain silent when it came to helping Joe Biden&#8217;s former aide, Tara Reade, in her sexual assault accusations against Biden, the outlet noted. In 2021, the two resigned amid revelations the group was found to be partisan.
But five years ago, things looked very different for the group started by founders Witherspoon and Winfrey, who helped the charity gain huge media attention, the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/21/us/times-up-metoo-sexual-harassment.html">Times</a> noted. Stars like Michelle Williams, Meryl Streep, and Emma Watson proudly showed off their &#8220;Time’s Up&#8221; pins at the <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2018/01/07/golden-globes-why-stars-wearing-times-up-pins/1007799001/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2018 Golden Globes</a> on their black gowns in support of the group, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/times-up-metoo-1ac800e48a96357d7fb29c18848c50d2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a> noted.
On stage at the Globes, Winfrey warned abusers that &#8220;Their time is up!&#8221; and was greeted by a standing ovation. A year later, celebrities donned black and white &#8220;Time&#8217;s Up&#8221; <a href="https://www.glamour.com/gallery/golden-globes-2019-times-up-ribbons-red-carpet" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ribbons</a> at the 2019 Golden Globes.
However, in 2020 Winfrey walked away from her Apple TV+ documentary that would have highlighted the &#8220;Time&#8217;s Up&#8221; group citing creative differences, <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/oprah-winfrey-quits-apple-times-up-documentary-2020-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Business Insider</a> noted. 
In August 2021, co-founder Shonda Rhimes, released a statement showing her support for the group&#8217;s agenda amid allegations about Tchen and Kaplan, the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/21/us/times-up-metoo-sexual-harassment.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NYT</a> noted.
&#8220;The fact that Time&#8217;s Up has become viewed as a receptacle for and the focus of men trying to cover up their obscene behaviors is exhausting to me,&#8221; producer Rhimes shared at the time. &#8220;Saving men, especially predatory men, is not on Time&#8217;s Up agenda.&#8221;
Not long after Tchen and Kaplan&#8217;s resignation, board members Rhimes and Eva Longoria left Time&#8217;s Up, <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/what-does-the-end-of-times-up-mean-for-the-future-of-the-metoo-movement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vogue</a> noted. 
&#8220;Time’s Up is ready for new leadership, and we want to move forcefully toward its new iteration,&#8221; a statement from the exiting board members read, <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/09/shonda-rhimes-eva-longoria-jurnee-smollett-exit-times-up-board-1234827540/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Deadline</a> noted.
In September 2021, <a href="https://variety.com/2021/film/news/eva-longoria-times-up-1235058259/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Longoria defended the group,</a> but shared that there was more work that needed to be done.
&#8220;It&#8217;s okay to make mistakes in the efforts to topple the patriarchy. Mistakes will be made,&#8221; the actress shared. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t mean the efforts should stop. We have to continue. We&#8217;ve been under thousands of years of a patriarchal society. It&#8217;s not going to topple in the three years that Time&#8217;s Up has existed. We have so much more work to be done.&#8221;
At that same time, the organization&#8217;s advisory <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/hollywood/news-times-up-dissolves-advisory-board-that-had-a-listers-like-natalie-portman-jessica-chastain--others-411984" target="_blank" rel="noopener">board</a> quietly dissolved which included a star-studded list of Hollywood&#8217;s leading ladies; Natalie Portman, Jessica Chastain, Laura Dern, Julianne Moore, Janelle Monae, Brie Larson, Tessa Thompson, Padma Lakshmi, America Ferrera, Kerry Washington, Alyssa Milano, and Amy Schumer. 
And all these actresses mentioned connected to the group in some form or another have been absolutely silent since news broke in January about Time&#8217;s Up shutting down operations.
Time&#8217;s Up board member Ashley Judd has remained silent as well about the organization&#8217;s implosion, only sharing in November 2021 that despite the revelations about Tchen and Kaplan, the world needed &#8220;Time&#8217;s Up,&#8221; <a href="https://variety.com/2021/film/columns/times-up-ashley-judd-women-in-hollywood-1235118691/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Variety</a> noted.
&#8220;We still need Time&#8217;s Up, and that&#8217;s why we&#8217;re going down to the studs, taking a look at the mistakes we made, learning from our errors and being completely transparent and accountable in the same way that we demand other organizations be transparent and accountable,&#8221; Judd said. &#8220;We&#8217;re going to get it right.&#8221;
Judd also promised that Time&#8217;s Up would rise again in 2022.
In January, Judd — one of the last remaining board members — stepped down as Time&#8217;s Up Now and the Time&#8217;s Up Foundation, the two groups that formed what is commonly known as Time&#8217;s Up, shut down, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/times-up-metoo-1ac800e48a96357d7fb29c18848c50d2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AP</a> noted.
During a recent episode of &#8220;The Megyn Kelly Show&#8221; <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1Z2G-vPrSQ&amp;source_ve_path=MjM4NTE&amp;feature=emb_title" target="_blank" rel="noopener">podcast</a>, the host asked where are all the stars who spoke out for Time&#8217;s Up now that it&#8217;s collapsed? Because, she said, it went &#8220;partisan&#8221; in the people it supported.

Former &#8220;Baywatch&#8221; star Pamela Anderson doubled down on her eyebrow-raising comments about the #MeToo movement, saying that women should know better than to go into a hotel room alone.
<a href="https://dailywire.com/news/pamela-anderson-drops-bombshell-claim-on-tim-allen-he-says-it-never-happened/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Anderson</a> sat down with journalist Ronan Farrow — who broke <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/from-aggressive-overtures-to-sexual-assault-harvey-weinsteins-accusers-tell-their-stories" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the story</a> that took down former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and jump-started the #MeToo movement  — for a <a href="https://www.interviewmagazine.com/culture/pamela-anderson-tells-ronan-farrow-how-she-survived-hollywood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">profile piece</a> that Interview Magazine published on Wednesday, and he asked whether she believed it was &#8220;healthy&#8221; to bring up that particular idea back in 2017.
&#8220;You told Megyn Kelly, &#8216;You know what you’re getting into when you go to a hotel room alone.&#8217; Do you feel like that was a healthy thought to introduce into the dialogue at that point?&#8221; Farrow asked.
&#8220;I could even take it a step further,&#8221; was Anderson&#8217;s reply. &#8220;My mother would tell me — and I think this is the kind of feminism I grew up with — it takes two to tango &#8230; &#8216;If someone answers the door in a hotel robe and you’re going for an interview, don’t go in. But if you do go in, get the job.'&#8221;
&#8220;That’s a horrible thing to say but that’s how I was,&#8221; Anderson conceded, but went on to say that her own sense of self-worth had helped her to respond to situations differently than some other younger women in Hollywood might have.
&#8220;But I think a lot of people don’t have that or they weren’t taught that,&#8221; Anderson continued, saying that she was thankful for the #MeToo movement because she believed that it really had changed the dynamic.
Anderson had initially <a href="https://pagesix.com/2023/02/01/pamela-anderson-doubles-down-on-controversial-metoo-comments/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sparked backlash</a>, as Farrow mentioned, after a 2017 interview with former Fox News host Megyn Kelly when she suggested that women should know better than to go alone to an audition in a hotel room.
&#8220;When I came to Hollywood, of course I had a lot of offers to do private auditions and things that made absolutely no sense,&#8221; Anderson told Kelly. “[It’s] just common sense: Don’t go into a hotel room alone. If someone answers the door in a bathrobe, you know, leave.&#8221;
The former Playboy playmate told Kelly that surviving sexual assault as a child may have been what made it easier for her to recognize the red flags — and had taught her never to put herself in that kind of situation again.
