Nearly two years after the Supreme Court overturned affirmative action, an Illinois medical school admits black and Hispanic students with lower average MCAT scores and GPAs than the average scores of white and Asian students it rejects, according to data shared with The Daily Wire.
An analysis of the academic scores of students admitted into Southern Illinois School of Medicine from 2019-2024 reveals that blacks and Hispanics are admitted to the school with much lower scores than whites and Asians, figures obtained by Do No Harm show. These apparently different academic standards continue despite the Supreme Court&#8217;s June 2023 decision to strike down affirmative action, leading to concern that the university is watering down the importance of academics in admissions.
This revelation comes as school leadership <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/unearthed-footage-exposes-medical-school-administrators-pledging-resist-trump-executive-orders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">promises</a> to &#8220;resist&#8221; and &#8220;fight back&#8221; against executive actions from the Trump administration cracking down on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. A spokeswoman for the school told The Daily Wire that it was &#8220;committed to following the law and complying with the decisions of the Supreme Court.&#8221;
Comparing average GPAs and MCAT scores, Do No Harm found that whites and Asians generally need to score significantly higher than blacks and Hispanics to be admitted into the school. The MCAT is the standardized test that all prospective doctors must take to be admitted into medical school.
“In 2024, the average MCAT score of accepted Asians and whites (combined) was more than 4 points higher than that of accepted blacks and Hispanics (combined) — equivalent to a gap of about 14 percentile points. On GPA, accepted Asians and whites on average had 0.36 higher scores than accepted Blacks and Hispanics,” Do No Harm wrote in a summary of its analysis of the data. 
According to data from 2024, the average GPA score of students accepted into the Southern Illinois  School of Medicine, broken down by race, was: Hispanic (3.45), black (3.50), white (3.85), and Asian (3.89). For the MCAT (best score being 528), the average scores were as follows: Hispanic (503.5 &#8211; 58th percentile), black (505.7 &#8211; 65th percentile), white (509 &#8211; 75th percentile), and Asian (512.8 &#8211; 85th percentile).
&#8220;When comparing to the average scores of all accepted applicants, whites/Asians scored slightly above average while blacks/Hispanics scored significantly below average,&#8221; Do No Harm noted in its report.
The 2024 data also reveal that whites and Asians who were rejected had average higher MCAT scores and GPAs than blacks and Hispanics who were accepted. The average MCAT score for whites/Asians rejected was 505.7, compared to the 505.2 of blacks/Hispanics accepted. For GPA, the average for white/Asians rejected was 3.66 compared to the 3.50 of blacks/Hispanics accepted.
The data also show that 21 Asians with perfect GPAs were rejected in 2024.
&#8220;Of the 24 black or Hispanic applicants admitted in 2024, 17 had MCAT scores lower than the average white or Asian rejected applicant; 13 had GPAs lower than the average white or Asian rejected applicant,&#8221; Do No Harm noted. &#8220;In 2024, no Asian admitted student had an MCAT score below 503. Meanwhile, half of black admitted students (9 of 18) had an MCAT score below 503.&#8221;
These trends hold for every year from 2020 to 2024, with average rejection scores for whites/Asians being higher than average accepted scores for blacks/Hispanics, as Do No Harm noted that 2024 was &#8220;not an outlier.&#8221;
&#8220;Blacks and Hispanics were admitted with lower MCAT and GPA scores than whites and Asians in each of the past five years at the school,&#8221; Do No Harm reported. &#8220;A five-year average of SIUSOM’s accepted applicants shows that there was a difference of 0.34 GPA points between the two racial groups.&#8221;
The same could be found when comparing MCAT scores.

Paulette Dove, the senior counsel for Health Affairs for the Southern Illinois University system, said earlier this year that the affirmative action decision had a big impact on the school. 
“And then I just wanted to share one of the cases that had the biggest impact on SIU since I&#8217;ve been here, from a legal perspective, is the Students for Fair Admissions case that came out in 2023 and that was about looking at race and diversity and other issues in admissions and how that went about,&#8221; she said in a video shared with The Daily Wire, turning a faculty discussion on Trump&#8217;s executive actions.
&#8220;And I want you to know that those lawsuits were started in 2014 and we saw an outcome from the U.S. Supreme Court in 2023,&#8221; she added. &#8220;So, there is time to work through all of these issues that are coming up now, even though they feel urgent, and we will do our best to stay on top of those urgent things, but my best suggestion to you is to really stay the course for the time being.”
Ian Kingsbury, the director of research for Do No Harm, told The Daily Wire that he is skeptical that the university has complied with the Supreme Court&#8217;s decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, saying that the school would be &#8220;pretty hard pressed to convince&#8221; someone that the admission data doesn&#8217;t reveal racial discrimination. 
On its website, the school lists a number of factors it considers in admission. These <a href="https://www.siumed.edu/md-admissions#selection-factors" target="_blank" rel="noopener">include</a> extracurricular activities, employment and volunteer experience, and area of residence, &#8220;with preference given to central and southern Illinois residents and those from rural, inner-city, or disadvantaged backgrounds.&#8221;
Kingsbury said that the school would have had to significantly deemphasize academics to get to its current situation.
&#8220;I understand that academic qualifications alone aren’t the only thing that should determine your admission to medical school. But in any sane and reasonable world, they should be extremely important,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Essentially, they would have to establish that the non-academic criteria that they are using, that it just so happens that their black and Hispanic applicants are that much better than their white and Asian applicants along those criteria.” 
Southern Illinois School of Medicine has received millions of federal dollars, <a href="https://budzinski.house.gov/posts/budzinski-announces-3-2-million-for-siu-school-of-medicine?utm_source=chatgpt.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">including</a> a $3.2 million grant in 2023, to improve its facilities. The school also currently has <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/searchaward" target="_blank" rel="noopener">multiple grants</a> from the National Institutes of Health, including hundreds of thousands of dollars to study drug addictions.
In January, President Donald Trump issued an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-illegal-discrimination-and-restoring-merit-based-opportunity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> that directed his administration to ensure that any educational facility receiving federal dollars was complying with the Students for Fair Admission decision. Earlier this month, the Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to medical schools warning them of &#8220;unlawful&#8221; admission practices that look at race in admissions.
&#8220;It appears that many medical schools may have yet to come into compliance with the Supreme Court’s decision in SFFA,&#8221; the department wrote. &#8220;Medical schools found to be out of compliance with federal civil rights law may, consistent with applicable law, be subject to investigation and measures to secure compliance which may, if unsuccessful, affect continued eligibility for federal funding.&#8221;
Kingsbury said that there was a cultural problem across much of taxpayer-funded academia where they thought they were above oversight.
“This is a cultural problem in higher ed broadly, where they don’t feel that they’re responsive or accountable to any democratic authority,” he said. “It really is a problem across the academy. They think they should be running themselves without any concern for what the president of the United States says or what the Supreme Court of the United States says.”

The Trump administration’s decision to pull federal funding from Harvard and other top-tier schools sparked outrage in the elite corridors of the American academy.
But this move has a clear silver lining: it could benefit less prestigious, significantly smaller, but certainly deserving schools across America.
From the end of World War II through the Cold War, brand-name institutions lobbied for, and were awarded, a<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/18/us/trump-universities.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> disproportionate share</a> of federal research dollars. That left capable regional universities vying for the leftovers.
It’s about time that this inequitable dynamic changed. Federal research money needs to go where it can yield the most significant and widespread benefits, and doesn’t always mean <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/04/30/us/university-funding-research.html?unlocked_article_code=1.FU8.Ck9n.8e6TwmBDHKOH&amp;smid=url-share" target="_blank" rel="noopener">schools in large cities along the coasts</a>.
According to federal data, over a third of <a href="https://usafacts.org/articles/what-do-universities-do-with-the-billions-they-receive-from-the-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">federal R&amp;D funding</a> was spent by just 20 colleges. That means most of America’s smaller schools have been ignored or overlooked, many of which enroll first-generation college students and are located in rural or underserved locales.
When the same recipients are trusted with the bulk of federal dollars year after year, we lose out on the fresh perspectives, crucial specialized research, and real-world problem-solving that a more even-handed distribution of funds would make possible.
Are there instances where a tiny institution like the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota (enrollment: 1,400) receives federal research money?  Yes, it happens: the school was awarded $<a href="https://static.csbsju.edu/documents/CSB%20Business%20Office/CSB%202023%20Audited%20Financial%20Statements.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1.8m in 2023</a>. But that’s the exception, not the rule.
An upgraded distribution policy of federal research funding could unleash a torrent of invention by regularly redirecting dollars to less prominent schools nationwide, including historically black colleges and universities, Historically Hispanic Institutions, and technical colleges.
When a school in Wyoming or Mississippi wins a grant that would ordinarily go to one of the dominant and expected recipients, it’s not only that school’s students who benefit. It means constructing new labs, hiring new faculty, creating possible societal benefits for Americans’ health, and potentially stimulating economic benefits for American industries.
Supporters of funding reallocation, of which I am one, argue that it creates a fairer research landscape in America where the upsides aren’t locked in with the same annual recipients.
Every university in America should have a shot at discovery, not just those on the short list.   Reconsidering where federal research dollars are spent could inspire an exciting realignment that allows more American institutions to contribute to science, technology, and innovation advances.

A major medical organization that accredits all graduate medical education programs, like internships and residency programs, announced Friday that it was suspending some of its &#8220;diversity&#8221; requirements.
The board of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education released a statement announcing it was pausing certain &#8220;diversity&#8221; requirements due to concerns about compliance with federal law. The announcement comes after President Donald Trump called out the accreditation organization in an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-takes-sledgehammer-to-dei-in-latest-round-of-executive-orders-targeting-education" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> asking the Education Department to crack down on accreditation bodies mandating universities adopt DEI programs.
&#8220;The ACGME has heard significant concerns from multiple constituents in several states and from federal Sponsoring Institutions about their ability to comply with some of the ACGME requirements addressing diversity in light of state or federal laws,&#8221; the organization said Friday, noting that it was suspending multiple diversity requirements because of &#8220;uncertainty&#8221; about their legality.
The organization said that it would be further addressing the requirements at its June board meeting.
The diversity <a href="https://www.acgme.org/globalassets/pfassets/programrequirements/800_institutionalrequirements2022.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">requirements</a> included mandating that institutions sponsoring medical education programs implement policies to recruit a &#8220;diverse and inclusive&#8221; workforce of residents and faculty.
&#8220;The Sponsoring Institution, in partnership with each of its programs, must engage in practices that focus on ongoing, mission-driven, systematic recruitment and retention of a diverse and inclusive workforce of residents/fellows, faculty members, senior administrative staff members, and other relevant members of its GME community,&#8221; the requirement reads.

The board also paused a <a href="https://www.acgme.org/globalassets/pfassets/programrequirements/cprresidency_2023.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">similar policy</a> for its residency program requirements.
In an April <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/reforming-accreditation-to-strengthen-higher-education/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a>, Trump mentioned the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education as one of the accrediting bodies he said had “abused&#8221; its &#8220;enormous authority” by forcing universities to adopt DEI policies.
“The Secretary of Education shall, as appropriate and consistent with applicable law, hold accountable, including through denial, monitoring, suspension, or termination of accreditation recognition, accreditors who fail to meet the applicable recognition criteria or otherwise violate Federal law, including by requiring institutions seeking accreditation to engage in unlawful discrimination in accreditation-related activity under the guise of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ initiatives,” Trump wrote.
The announcement from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education earned praised from Dr. Travis Morrell, a senior fellow at Do No Harm, an organization devoted to getting politics out of medicine.
&#8220;ACGME has finally cracked after three months of doubling-down on its commitment to radical identity politics. ACGME’s suspension of absurd diversity rules is an encouraging first step but now it must permanently eliminate these requirements – along with the equity in education rule it still enforces,&#8221; Morrell told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The sudden change of tune is a direct result of President Trump’s historic executive order dismantling accreditors’ ability to impose DEI requirements on schools. By prioritizing expertise over politics, we will slowly but surely restore a culture of meritocracy to American medical institutions.&#8221;

On the surface, the group that administers the MCAT seems to have left DEI behind. But behind the scenes, it&#8217;s working on plans to secretly push the ideology, an insider with knowledge of the situation tells The Daily Wire.
The Association of American Medical Colleges, which administers the medical school entrance exam and helps accredit medical schools, purged most DEI content from its website after a damning <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Activism-over-Meritocracy-How-the-AAMC-is-Corrupting-Medical-Education-with-Endless-DEI-Ideology.pdf">report</a> from the nonprofit <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/">Do No Harm</a> called the AAMC “the organization ruining medical education.”
But an AAMC insider tells The Daily Wire the organization is backtracking, telling employees to stay the course internally despite the outward changes.
“The AAMC has pushed DEI for about a decade. The leaders are not going to change their views overnight,” the AAMC employee explained. “Even though we now talk about it differently, the AAMC is still very much committed to DEI.”
An internal AAMC “language guidance” document obtained by The Daily Wire reveals that the organization is seeking to sanitize its messaging around DEI in order to avoid terms that “have become polarizing.”
The AAMC says it conducted research that found certain phrases “are widely misunderstood or misinterpreted,” including the terms “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” “historically marginalized groups,” and “systems of oppression.&#8221; Other terms that the AAMC warns against include “birthing people,” “anti-racism,” “minority,” and “inclusive excellence.”

“Rather than use the frequently misinterpreted shorthand ‘DEI,’ be specific about the goals you understand those principles to support, such as solutions that lead to increased access to care for areas and populations that have been underserved,” the guide goes on to read.
In its report, Do No Harm revealed how the AAMC leveraged millions of dollars and its stature in the medical field to push DEI — embedding DEI in the medical school accreditation process, adding ideological questions to the MCAT, and approving race-based scholarships for medical schools.
Since then, the organization has removed webpages that discussed the group’s DEI agenda, including the AAMC’s “equity, diversity, and inclusion” <a href="https://www.aamc.org/about-us/equity-diversity-inclusion">page</a>, which <a href="https://archive.ph/HvJLK">previously</a> outlined the group’s DEI commitment and listed upcoming DEI trainings and seminars.
An AAMC report on “Creating Action to Eliminate Racism in Medical Education,” <a href="https://archive.ph/6W1jD">archived here</a>, is <a href="https://www.aamc.org/media/63076/download?attachment?attachment">no longer</a> publicly available. A page on addressing racism in healthcare has been <a href="https://www.aamc.org/about-us/excellence-academic-medicine/resources-address-racism-academic-medicine">removed</a>, and the organization has also taken down a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250221162046/https:/www.aamc.org/what-we-do/equity-diversity-inclusion/underrepresented-in-medicine">page</a> on its site that discussed demographic groups that are “underrepresented in medicine.”
Still, the insider alleges that various different leaders within the AAMC, including its CEO, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to DEI in a town hall earlier this year.
David Skorton, the AAMC CEO, told employees at the January town hall that the organization has “no plans to make a statement about DEI” and “no plans to eliminate our DEI cluster of employees,” the AAMC insider told The Daily Wire.
The sentiment was echoed by Danielle Turnipseed, the head of the AAMC’s Public Policy and Legislative Affairs branch. Turnipseed told employees “the important thing for us now is to get the work done and not make statements about [DEI]. We don&#8217;t want to spend time arguing with others about what we are doing. So, we want to focus on doing the work,” the employee explained.
“If we get investigated, we&#8217;ll handle it. We do the legal DEI,” added Frank Trinity, the AAMC’s Chief Legal Officer.
The AAMC did not respond to a request for comment.

The Group Behind The MCAT Said It Was Ditching DEI. Insiders Say It Lied.

Medical schools nationwide are forcing students to promote left-wing ideologies on race, gender, and obesity at the expense of proper patient care, according to a new watchdog <a href="https://speechfirst.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/CRITICAL-CONDITION_Speech-First-Medical-Schools-Report.pdf">report</a> released on Thursday.
The comprehensive investigation, produced by non-profit group Speech First, examined 54 public medical schools across the United States, seeking to document how &#8220;diversity, equity, and inclusion&#8221; (DEI) mandates are being enforced throughout medical education.
&#8220;This ideological conformity is required not only of students but also of faculty, who are often tasked with serving as enforcers of these mandates,&#8221; the report explains, noting that ideological requirements begin as early as the admissions process.
The report, first <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/news/medical-schools-nationwide-promote-weight-inclusivity-in-ongoing-dei-push/">obtained</a> by National Review, found that 99% of America&#8217;s top medical schools now “mandated commitments to racial justice ideology,” while 89% “did so for gender ideology.”
The report found 30% of examined schools mandate a form of “weight inclusivity,” instructing future doctors to avoid “fatphobia” despite the <a href="https://newsroom.heart.org/news/obesity-related-cardiovascular-disease-deaths-tripled-between-1999-and-2020">heaps</a> of medical <a href="https://www.who.int/data/gho/indicator-metadata-registry/imr-details/3420">evidence</a> establishing the correlation between obesity and health risks.
These DEI commitments manifest through “mandatory courses, rotations, orientations, statements, and policies,” and even modified Hippocratic Oaths.
As examples, dozens of investigated schools emphasize the impact of white privilege and systematic oppression on medical treatment, and have student guidelines enforcing adherence to a patient’s preferred pronouns rather than their biological sex.
At the University of Texas at Austin, medical students are taught to avoid stigmatizing language, replacing terms like &#8220;overweight&#8221; or &#8220;obese&#8221; with euphemisms such as &#8220;people with larger size,&#8221; while the University of Vermont&#8217;s program explicitly states that &#8220;weight is not an important indicator of health.&#8221;
At the University of Connecticut, for example, medical students must pledge to &#8220;work actively to identify and mitigate my own biases&#8221; and &#8220;specifically work to dismantle policies that perpetuate inequities, exclusion, discrimination, and racism,&#8221; according to documents obtained by Speech First.
The University of Arizona requires students to gain experience in transgender medicine, where students are “instructed that gender transitioning in children is normal, beginning with social changes in pre-adolescence and progressing to puberty-suppressing medications.”
Several harassment policies at medical schools now explicitly prohibit &#8220;misgendering,&#8221; with Oregon Health and Science University classifying it as a form of harassment subject to disciplinary action.
Medical school faculty face similar ideological pressures, as the University of Illinois-Chicago&#8217;s faculty manual states that &#8220;all College of Medicine faculty, regardless of track or rank, are expected to demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.&#8221;
The report identifies multiple cases where medical professionals faced serious professional consequences for questioning these ideologies, including Dr. Allan M. Josephson, who was demoted and ultimately terminated from the University of Louisville after criticizing transitioning treatments for children during a 2017 Heritage Foundation panel despite a “stellar record,” according to the non-profit.
The investigation details how this ideological enforcement begins before the student is even admitted to medical school.
The University of Missouri asks applicants how they will &#8220;contribute to the overall diversity of the medical school&#8221; and &#8220;foster an inclusive learning environment,&#8221; functioning as what Speech First characterizes as a political litmus test.
Students, as well as faculty, who question these mandates risk significant consequences. Kieran Bhattacharya, a former University of Virginia medical student, was banned from campus after questioning a presentation on microaggressions during a 2018 panel. After challenging the concept, he was flagged by faculty as &#8220;antagonistic,&#8221; leading to disciplinary action.
Speech First&#8217;s study found that even the Hippocratic Oath has been modified at several universities, with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine recently updating the oath to reflect an anti-racist narrative.
“I will work actively to identify and mitigate my own biases so as to treat all patients and coworkers with humility and dignity. I will strive to promote health equity. I will actively support policies that promote social justice and specifically work to dismantle policies that perpetuate inequities, exclusion, discrimination, and racism,” the updated oath reads.
The report concludes with recommendations for legislative action, including banning mandatory ideological activism courses and ensuring medical curricula prioritize science-based teachings over politically driven health ideologies.
“If this continues, I’m horrified we’ll get doctors who will shove kids into gender chaos, favor race over health, and lie to obese patients, endangering us all for a deranged fringe,” said Jared Gould, research fellow for Speech First, per National Review.

The Department of Health and Human Services will hand out over $20 million in &#8220;diversity&#8221; grants this year aimed at increasing the number of minority nurses, even as the Trump administration has sought to crack down on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The purpose of the <a href="https://www.grants.gov/search-results-detail/355776" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initiative</a>, known as the Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWP) Program, is to &#8220;increase nursing education opportunities for individuals who are from disadvantaged backgrounds (including racial and ethnic minorities underrepresented among registered nurses).&#8221; It is administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of HHS, and has <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/CFDADetail?arg_CFDA_NUM=93178" target="_blank" rel="noopener">distributed</a> nearly $200 million in grants since 2008.
Applications for the 2025 iteration closed last month, and the Health Resources and Services Administration estimates that it will shell out over $22 million on the program in July when the funds are set to be awarded. The program&#8217;s <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/HRSA-25-071_final-v2.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Notice of Funding</a> lays out the purposes of the program, which include increasing racial minorities enrolled in nursing programs and increasing the number of minorities who receive &#8220;support&#8221; to stay in nursing programs.
The notice refers to a <a href="https://bhw.hrsa.gov/glossary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">glossary</a> from the Bureau of Health Workforce to define &#8220;underrepresented&#8221; racial and ethnic minorities. This definition excludes both whites and Asians, and only includes American Indians or Alaska Natives, black or African Americans, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islanders, and Hispanics.
According to the Health Resources and Services Administration, 76% of the 2,033 students who were trained under the program from the 2022-2024 school year &#8220;identified&#8221; as an underrepresented minority, meaning that they were neither white nor Asian.
Do No Harm, an organization that seeks to rid the medical field of politics, told The Daily Wire that the program incentivizes nursing schools to engage in racial discrimination and is based on faulty medical assumptions. The organization released a report on Wednesday highlighting the program.
“The nursing workforce diversity program, unfortunately, is really looking at people based on immutable characteristics,” Do No Harm&#8217;s Medical Director, Dr. Kurt Miceli, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;I think that when you have grants that incentivize a discriminatory program to look at things other than merit, you create a system that&#8217;s not only discriminatory, but also promotes a lower level of care that’s provided, a lower quality of care.&#8221;
Miceli said he was encouraged by many of the steps already taken by the Trump administration to crack down on DEI, and asked them to end the nursing program. In January, President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-and-wasteful-government-dei-programs-and-preferencing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> an executive order seeking to eliminate DEI from the government and calling for &#8220;equity&#8221; related grants to be eliminated.

The justification for such programs includes the questionable claim that minorities have better health outcomes when they are treated by minority health workers.
“The American Nurses Association (ANA) reported that a lack of diversity in healthcare significantly increases health disparities and contributes to poorer health outcomes and high mortality at disproportionate rates among socially and economically marginalized groups,&#8221; the notice of funding says. &#8220;Patients are more likely to adhere to health recommendations and have better outcomes when providers are culturally competent or have shared cultural characteristics.&#8221;
But Do No Harm says that &#8220;the weight of the evidence indicates that diversity has no bearing on health outcomes,&#8221; pointing to <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/DNH-Racial-Concordance-Paper-Oct-2023.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">analysis</a> conducted by the organization that found that four out of five existing systemic reviews of racial concordance in medicine showed no improvement in health outcomes.
&#8220;The point really is that we as a society, when we&#8217;re on the gurney, when we&#8217;re in the ER, when were in the outpatient office, we want the very best in the provider, and no matter who that is, no matter their race, color is,&#8221; Miceli said. &#8220;We want the very best provider taking care of us, and that&#8217;s absolutely essential for medicine.&#8221;
Applicants are required to present &#8220;evidenced-based strategies used to recruit and retain students from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds&#8221; and &#8220;include the implementation of holistic admissions, provision of scholarships and stipends to address socioeconomic barriers, and peer and mentor support to provide wraparound services to assist in student success.”
They also must submit “a plan for implementing an actionable framework that targets learning disparities and expands opportunities to support students from disadvantaged Backgrounds.”
According to Do No Harm, so-called holistic admissions means downplaying objective standards of qualifications.
“Holistic admissions refers to the practice of deemphasizing objective metrics used to determine an applicant’s merit, such as GPA and MCAT scores, and placing greater focus on other academic qualifications, personality traits, or professional accolades,&#8221; Do No Harm wrote in its report. &#8220;As one might imagine, in practice this often ends up being a roundabout way of still employing race-conscious admissions despite the Supreme Court’s ruling that such strategies are unconstitutional.&#8221;
Funding for the program has ramped up in recent years. In 2014, funding hovered just below $14 million. But from 2022-2024, total funding for the Nursing Workforce Diversity program has been over $20 million every year.

Recipients of Nursing Workforce Diversity grants for 2024 include Frontier Nursing University, the University of Cincinnati, Marquette University, Western Carolina University, Saint Louis University, the University of Arizona, and many others.
Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky, which <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/CFDADetail?arg_CFDA_NUM=93178" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> $555,000 for 2024, openly boasts about its DEI accomplishments, noting that it seeks to increase the number of Hispanic nurse-midwives and that 30% of its student body are &#8220;students of color.&#8221;

The university <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250421184917/https://portal.frontier.edu/web/fnu/frontier-scholarships" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notes</a> that it has several race-focused scholarship opportunities, including the Lin Bolle Scholarship, for students &#8220;whose race or ethnicity has been historically underrepresented.&#8221; The university also boasts the Noel Smith Fernandez Scholarship and the Dr. Torica Fuller Excellence in Diversity Scholarship, both of which are for &#8220;students of color.&#8221;
Other recipients of Health Resources and Services Administration dollars have similar racially-based programs. For example, the University of Cincinnati received $491,943 for 2024. The university <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241209065728/https://nursing.uc.edu/academic-programs/bsn/student-support/cure-fellowship.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offers</a> the CURE program, which gives students up to $12,000 per year and extra tutoring help, and appears to exclude both whites and Asians from eligibility. A <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241209064551/https://nursing.uc.edu/uc-nursing-advantage/diversity-equity-inclusion/targeted-efforts-for-inclusion-and-belonging.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">now-deleted page</a> from the website detailed that the university held a &#8220;Black Student Nurses Day.&#8221;
The Health Resources and Services Administration also funds racially-focused scholarship opportunities at the University of Memphis&#8217; Loewenberg College of Nursing, including the <a href="https://memphis.academicworks.com/opportunities/27709" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RNs Lead</a> scholarship and the <a href="https://www.memphis.edu/nursing/diversity/strongrns.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">STRONG RNs</a> program.

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing, which helps set education standards for nursing, is intimately connected with the Health Resources and Services Administration&#8217;s diversity program, and helps facilitate the application process for nursing schools to get grants.
&#8220;Since 2016, AACN has provided technical assistance program to nursing schools receiving funding through the Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWD) program offered by the Health Resources and Services Administration,&#8221; the group <a href="https://www.aacnnursing.org/news-data/fact-sheets/enhancing-diversity-in-the-nursing-workforce" target="_blank" rel="noopener">notes</a> on its website. &#8220;AACN’s assistance includes an assessment of admissions practices, an on-site Holistic Admissions Review workshop, student recruitment and retention strategies, and models for building a successful mentoring program.&#8221;
In January, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing released a press release noting it could offer &#8220;expert consulting&#8221; for nursing schools interested in applying for Health Resources and Services Administration grants.
Do No Harm told The Daily Wire that the Department of Health and Human Services must end the Nursing Workforce Diversity program &#8220;immediately.&#8221;
The program &#8220;is a clear example of the federal government using its vast funding capabilities to encourage and incentivize racial discrimination,&#8221; Do No Harm wrote in its report. &#8220;The nursing workforce is best served when nursing education programs select the best and the brightest, when excellence and merit are prioritized rather than race.&#8221;

A top executive at a major healthcare provider whose duties involve placing graduate students at hospitals across the country has said that “diversity” is essential for healthcare and advocated for medical schools to accept students in racially proportional ways. 
Dr. Monique Butler, the president of Graduate Medical Education for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) Healthcare, has aggressively pushed DEI and racial quotas. HCA, headquartered in Tennessee, also has a history of championing DEI, though many references to such efforts have been scrubbed from its website in recent months. 
Butler was <a href="https://investor.hcahealthcare.com/news/news-details/2024/HCA-Healthcare-Names-Dr.-Monique-Butler-as-President-of-Graduate-Medical-Education/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">named</a> president of HCA’s graduate medical education program in March 2024. One of the nation’s largest graduate medical education programs, it <a href="https://hcahealthcaregme.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offers</a> over 300 residency and fellowship programs across 16 states and 79 hospitals with more than 5000 residents and 300 fellows. 
According to HCA, it is <a href="https://hcahealthcaregme.com/about/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the</a> “largest sponsor of residency and fellowship programs across the nation” and its facilities handle “five percent of all U.S. hospital services.”
Prior to her work at HCA, Butler pushed for DEI in presentations and speeches and even advocated for medical schools to adopt a sort of racial quota system to ensure their student body was directly proportional to the general population.  
“Diversity in health care cannot be a want, it is a must-have,” Butler <a href="https://record.umich.edu/articles/discussion-to-examine-health-care-disparities-racial-empowerment/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during a 2020 speech. 
In 2021, she delivered the University of Michigan MLK Health Sciences keynote <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3Y5s3JlP6I" target="_blank" rel="noopener">address</a>, in which she claimed: “race — as well as sex, gender, sexuality, age, social class and ability —  can adversely affect opportunities, access, care, treatment and the overall lived experiences of people of color, particularly black people.”
During that speech, Butler also called for medical schools across the United States to admit a directly proportional number of minority students into their programs. 
Butler said she was issuing a “call to action” to medical school leaders to “ensure that their student population reflects the population of the United States population,” noting that only 5% of medical school graduates were black despite making up 13% of the population. 
“We have some work to do,” she said.

She said that the lower number of black and minority medical school graduates was contributing to “health disparities” in the United States. 
In that same lecture, she pushed a now-<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/study-saying-black-babies-more-likely-to-die-under-white-doctors-didnt-control-for-1-key-factor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">debunked</a> study that claims that black babies are more likely to die under white doctors’ care. 
Butler also made numerous references to George Floyd, claiming that police brutality was a contributor to health &#8220;inequality.&#8221; She said that curriculum at medical schools across the country should be infused with implicit bias training.

In October 2020, Butler moderated a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c4zs13Esoo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">panel discussion</a> on what she called the “health equity crisis” in the United States. Butler said that governments should be held “responsible” for “neutralizing” the amount of money spent per school district. 
Later, in a 2023 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8as63qBruY" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lecture</a>, she urged people to be “allies” and urged providers to “challenge” human resources departments to “ensure that there are metrics they are looking” at to ensure “at least” diverse candidates. 
Butler&#8217;s push for DEI in medicine was criticized by Do No Harm, a group devoted to getting politics out of medicine.
&#8220;Medical education, whether in the classroom or in hospital, must be focused on merit. Dr. Butler is advocating for the return of racial segregation in medicine, promoting the disproved hypothesis of racial concordance, eroding patient-physician trust and degrading the rigor of medical education,&#8221; Senior Do No Harm fellow Dr. Jared Ross told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The best physician for you is the most qualified, regardless of melanin content or sexual orientation.&#8221;
Butler has worked for a number of high-profile medical corporations throughout her career and has received numerous glowing profiles. Some of these profiles include DEI-related accomplishments.  
For example, an October 2022 University of Michigan School Of Kinesiology alumni <a href="https://www.kines.umich.edu/news-events/profiles/dr-monique-butler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">profile</a> of Butler reveals that she created something called the Grant Foundation in order to “improve health equity.” One of the purported programs offered by the Grant Foundation is the Pathfinders Scholarship Award, which is given to first-generation and “underrepresented” University of Michigan kinesiology students to “pursue a career in health care.”
The foundation has a small online footprint and is not advertised by the University of Michigan aside from the alumni profile. It is unclear how many students have received the award or how students may apply for the opportunity. 
Another program with a scant track record that Butler is said to have created is the “Women Physicians Network,” which is mentioned in a number of Butler’s <a href="https://yourhub.denverpost.com/blog/2018/08/hcahealthones-swedish-medical-center-welcomes-new-chief-medical-officer/223519/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">profiles</a> and again in the congressional <a href="https://www.congress.gov/116/crec/2020/09/29/CREC-2020-09-29-pt1-PgE893.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">record</a>. This network appears to have no online presence and is not registered as a non-profit in Michigan or Florida. 
Another profile of Butler <a href="https://umichpicsannouncements.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/2017-global-health-symposium-brochure.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reveals</a> that she has “research experience” in health care “disparities” while there appears to be limited evidence of any scholarly articles widely available that Butler has contributed to on disparities. 
Her employer, HCA, has also publicly pushed adherence to DEI ideology until relatively recently. 
“Our Executive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council informs critical strategic decision making, monitors progress against goals and objectives, and serves as visible and vocal sponsors of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across the organization,” HCA posted on its website as of at least October 2024, according to an <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241008171042/https://hcahealthcare.com/about/diversity-equity-and-inclusion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">archived</a> webpage. 
“Across HCA Healthcare, our Division Diversity, Equity and Inclusion councils support deployment of key DEI strategies and programs at a local level. These councils are comprised of division leaders and facility representatives who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve,” HCA added. 
That page now redirects to a general “mission” statement that doesn’t mention diversity or equity. 
When reached for comment about some of its deleted DEI pages, a spokeswoman gave a general comment on the mission of HCA. 
“Our focus has always been to foster a culture that exemplifies our company’s mission and values by promoting care and respect for all patients and colleagues, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age or other characteristics, and we will continue to do so,” the spokeswoman said. “Our Culture and Values team continues to lead and facilitate cross-department partnerships that seek to support the delivery of high-quality care for our patients, foster opportunities for colleagues and improve the health of our communities.”
The spokeswoman added that HCA was “continuously looking for ways to build on our longstanding commitment to promoting an environment where everyone feels valued, while also supporting a broader vision of teamwork, respect and shared purpose across all areas of our organization.”
In the past, HCA released reports highlighting its DEI initiatives. 
Its 2023 DEI “<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240918105926/https:/hcahealthcare.com/util/documents/2023/2023-HCAH-DEI-Year-in-Review-a.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">snapshot</a>” boasted  that the group adopted “Joint Commission equity standards to reduce health disparities&#8221; and investments in “health equity partnerships.” These investments included $7.42 million to historically black colleges and Hispanic “serving institutions” between 2021 and 2023.
In February 2024, HCA released a <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240816160832/https:/hcahealthcare.com/util/documents/2023/508_DEI-EEO-1-Report-2023-a.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on all the ways the company has incorporated different layers of DEI councils throughout the company. 
“HCA Healthcare is focused on fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging for our colleagues through workplace programs, education, diverse talent acquisition, engagement and development,” the company reported. 
These efforts include the creation of a black leadership organization, implicit bias training, and “advancing equity for our LGBTQ+ communities.”
HCA also announced that it was working to develop more relationships with “diverse suppliers.”
“We are committed to expanding partnerships with a diverse range of businesses, including those owned and operated by people of color, women, veterans, members of the LGBTQ+ community and members of socially and economically disadvantaged groups,” the report said. 
However, many of the DEI-related materials appear to have been removed from the HCA’s website. 
Ross, of Do No Harm, said that HCA should completely abandon any DEI-related projects.
&#8220;Hospital Corporation of America should stop any DEI efforts and instead put resources into providing the best education for doctors,&#8221; he told The Daily Wire.
The apparent retreat comes amid increasing cultural pressure for companies and universities to abandon DEI principles and focus on merit. This shift comes after the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action in June 2023, and the executive orders from President Donald Trump cracking down on the federal government’s promotion of DEI.

A top employee for the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mount-rushmore-of-dei-how-a-major-academic-association-is-destroying-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Association of American Medical Colleges</a> (AAMC) said that he had dedicated his career to unpacking people’s “invisible knapsacks” of white privilege, and blamed problems with American health care on “isms&#8221; like &#8220;cisgenderism.&#8221; 
Philip Alberti, the founding director of the AAMC&#8217;s Center for Health Justice, made these comments during <a href="https://www.healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377/hp20241015.75857/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an appearance</a> last month on HealthAffairs&#8217; “Research and Justice for All” podcast. The December 18 appearance comes as the AAMC, which facilitates medical education in the United States, has come <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mount-rushmore-of-dei-how-a-major-academic-association-is-destroying-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">under fire</a> for its promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and leftist ideology.
During the podcast, Alberti told host Rhea Boyd that “isms” are a foundational cause of sickness in the country. 
“My training was around social conditions as fundamental causes of disease,” he said. “What social conditions am I talking about? I’m talking about racism, classism, sexism, cisgenderism, all the isms. That’s what we’re talking about.” 
&#8220;And these are fundamental causes for a couple of reasons. One is that they’re clever. So if you close off one pathway for racism to operate, that’s cool, it’s just going to find some other pathway,” he added, saying that the “isms” control resources, power, voice, money, and beneficial social relationships.
Earlier in the podcast, he said that his interest in DEI-related issues began when leftist academic Peggy McIntosh came to his high school and encouraged students to consider the “invisible knapsack of white privilege” that they had.
“That was a very early moment for me to say, I don&#8217;t know what I&#8217;m gonna do or how it&#8217;s gonna be, but I&#8217;m gonna dedicate myself to unpacking my own and others&#8217; invisible knapsacks to really create pathways of opportunity wherever I can,” he said.
The AAMC administers the MCAT, a test used for admission to medical colleges, and sponsors the accrediting body for allopathic medical schools. It counts as members all 158 American medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the organization it co-sponsors.

Morgan pointed out that the Alberti-run Center for Health Justice put out an “Advancing Health Equity” <a href="https://www.ama-assn.org/system/files/ama-aamc-equity-guide.pdf">language guide</a> in 2021 in partnership with the AAMC and the American Medical Association that suggested infusing agenda-driven commentary into health care discussions. 
The guide recommends changing a sentence like “Low-income people have the highest level of coronary artery disease in the United States” to “People underpaid and forced into poverty as a result of banking policies, real estate developers gentrifying neighborhoods, and corporations weakening the power of labor movements, among others, have the highest level of coronary artery disease in the United States.”

Morgan was also critical of Alberti’s assertion during the podcast that health equity “should infuse everything that we do.” 
“The work should pervade both kinds of organizational equity, diversity, and inclusion as well as what I see as the complementary field of population health, health equity, science, policy. Right? That should infuse everything that we do,” Alberti said. 
Morgan told The Daily Wire that she’d “rather see the AAMC put its time, effort, and resources into infusing excellence – not to mention scientific fact – into everything they do.”

A report from The Daily Wire last week <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-much-medical-schools-pay-for-membership-in-woke-academic-association" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed</a> the membership costs of being a part of the AAMC, which has 171 members in both the United States and Canada. An invoice obtained by Do No Harm showed that the University of Utah School of Medicine paid over $75,000 for a full year of membership.

The University of Utah’s medical school paid over $75,000 to be a member of the influential <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mount-rushmore-of-dei-how-a-major-academic-association-is-destroying-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Association of American Medical Colleges</a>, the DEI-focused organization that facilitates medical education throughout North America, according to an invoice shared with The Daily Wire. 
The invoice, obtained through a public information request by Do No Harm, an organization opposed to the politicization of medicine, shows that the University of Utah’s Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine paid $75,760 for a year-long institutional membership in the AAMC starting on July 1, 2024. The AAMC counts as members all 158 American medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), which the organization co-sponsors. 
The AAMC <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mount-rushmore-of-dei-how-a-major-academic-association-is-destroying-medicine">has been accused</a> of harming medical education through leftist political initiatives, including its commitment to DEI initiatives, “anti-racism,” and promoting transgender ideology. A <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Activism-over-Meritocracy-How-the-AAMC-is-Corrupting-Medical-Education-with-Endless-DEI-Ideology.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comprehensive report</a> from Do No Harm highlights the full extent of the AAMC&#8217;s DEI programs. 
“It&#8217;s just ironic that the medical schools are held captive to pay this kind of money to be dished out all the crap that comes out of the AAMC,” Laura Morgan, the author of the report and Do No Harm’s senior director of programs, told The Daily Wire.
Additionally, the medical school twice paid over $20,000 to the AAMC over the last two years for a booth and marketing services at the organization’s annual conference. For this year’s AAMC conference in Atlanta, the school paid $18,000 alone for marketing services and another $5,250 for the booth. 
During some of their <a href="https://healthcare.utah.edu/the-scope/aamc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previous</a> appearances at the conference, the school has hosted talks on “The Power of Diversity in Medicine,” “Is Climate Change a Health Care Issue?&#8221; and “Developing Leadership Opportunities for Women in Academic Medicine.” 
AAMC member schools receive professional development for faculty, policy advocacy before Congress, access to data and research, applicant and student services, and accreditation services. The organization was founded in 1876. 
In recent years, the AAMC has moved beyond medicine to promote race-based academic admissions policies, racially-focused medical theories, and transgender medical procedures for children. The group has also declared that DEI in health care is one of its top priorities. 
”Because the AAMC promotes so much of the ideologically based information, then that just trickles into the medical schools and they perpetuate it,” Morgan said. “What’s it going look like when there’s a whole generation of doctors who can tell you all about microaggressions or transgenderism, but they don’t know anything about how your heart works.&#8221;
Do No Harm director of research Ian Kingsbury pointed out that the AAMC&#8217;s DEI agenda has gone beyond mere recommendations. He said in one instance, the LCME <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/02/01/med-school-went-woke-after-pressure-from-accreditor-documents-show/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pressured</a> the University of Utah School of Medicine because it said the school’s “diversity/pipeline programs and partnerships” were “unsatisfactory.” LCME later claimed that it had a broad definition of diversity that expanded beyond race and gender.

“They play a game of pretending that these are simply recommendations but we have reasons to suspect that they are enforcing this ideological agenda,” Kingsbury said. “It’s not simply that they are recommending these things, they are saying that schools must do this.” 
He added that it might be necessary to have the federal government intervene because the AAMC had “lost the plot so badly,” and had no competitor to force them to focus on academics. 
“There is a social contract in medicine which says that doctors will do medicine and we will largely leave them alone while they practice medicine,” he said. “Once they stop doing medicine and start doing whatever the hell this is, you forfeit your end of that social contract.”

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) moved to restrict and remove information from its website after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mount-rushmore-of-dei-how-a-major-academic-association-is-destroying-medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report revealed</a> its full-throated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. 
Last week, Do No Harm, an organization committed to de-politicizing medicine, published an <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Activism-over-Meritocracy-How-the-AAMC-is-Corrupting-Medical-Education-with-Endless-DEI-Ideology.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exhaustive report</a> detailing how the AAMC wielded its influence and prestige to push DEI and other leftist policies. The AAMC facilitates much of medical education in the United States and administers the MCAT, the test students take to get into medical school. 
After the Do No Harm report dropped, the AAMC this week pulled information from its website on grants it had received, and restricted access to information about a database that tracked the race and sex of medical personnel. 
Do No Harm Senior Director of Programs Laura Morgan, who authored the report on the AAMC, told The Daily Wire that it was strange for the organization to remove the information.  
“Considering their laser focus on all things DEI, it&#8217;s curious that the AAMC would take down a web page that described the federal and private grants it receives, especially when it contains information on programs that are DEI-focused,” Morgan said.  
“Based on the organization&#8217;s past actions and initiatives, the AAMC is proud of the work they do to promote divisive ideologies throughout medical education; so why not continue to let the public see how much money they are receiving from the federal government and private foundations?” she asked. 
The <a href="https://www.aamc.org/about-us/grants-and-awards-received" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grant information</a>, which was <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241210122732/https:/www.aamc.org/about-us/grants-and-awards-received" target="_blank" rel="noopener">archived</a> and featured in Do No Harm&#8217;s report, shows that the AAMC has received millions of dollars from the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 
The CDC was to provide $4,539,543 over four years to support “strategies to build confidence in COVID-19 vaccines among health care personnel and communities that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.” Other <a href="https://www.aamc.org/about-us/aamc-awards/aamc-health-professions-education-curricular-innovations-grant-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">information</a> on the partnership with the CDC can be found throughout the AAMC website. 
A separate grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation gave the AAMC $1 million annually to “support technical assistance and direction to help increase diversity in health fields.”

The page also showed that the AAMC had a contract with the NIH over its “Faculty Roster,” which tracks the demographic information of faculty members at medical schools in the United States. The AAMC restricted a separate <a href="https://www.aamc.org/media/35651/download?attachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">web page</a> on the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240721071848/https:/www.aamc.org/media/35651/download?attachment" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Faculty Website</a> after the Do No Harm report. The current link to the page now says “Sorry, you do not have permission to access this page.”
“The records contained in the FAMOUS [Faculty Administrative Management Online User System] platform track each individual faculty member’s history of appointments, rank, and tenure status,” Do No Harm noted in its report. “Institutions with the same login credentials can pull reports from the database that specifically include sex and race/ethnicity information.”
The AAMC did not return requests for comment on why the information on the grants was scrubbed or why it had restricted information on the faculty tracker.
Throughout its website, the AAMC makes clear its embrace of DEI ideology. It lists “diversity, inclusion, and equity in health care” as one of its four primary mission areas and says that DEI “in medical education and the physician workforce is critical for everyone’s health.”

The University of California San Francisco School of Medicine is hosting a continuing education course for doctors run by a left-wing activist who said that “white people are psychopaths” because of their “evolutionary history.”
<a href="https://www.ucsfcme.com/2025/MMC25096C/info.html">The course</a>, which costs $575 per attendee and is titled “Understanding the Roots of Racism and Bias: Anti-Blackness, and Its Links to Whiteness, White Racism, Privilege, and Power,” will be administered by DEI consultant and anti-white activist Dante King. King previously gave a speech at UCSF titled “diagnosing whiteness,” in which he claimed that “whites are psychopaths” because of their “evolutionary history.”
&#8220;Whites are psychopaths and their behavior represents an underlying, biologically transmitted proclivity with roots deep in their evolutionary history,” King said.
“How many of you can see the proclivity that evolved deep within the evolutionary history of Whiteness by show of hands? How many of you could see it? Some people are sitting here, ‘Oh no, I don’t want to raise my hand,’ that’s called denial.”

“I’m not seeking agreement from white people at all. I don’t prioritize whiteness or white people,” he went on to say, also claiming that “anti-blackness is … the foundation of all white American institutions.”
A representative for King did not respond to a media inquiry asking if he stood by his comments.
King&#8217;s course counts for Continuing Education Credit, which physicians are <a href="https://www.boardvitals.com/blog/cme-requirements-by-state/">required to obtain</a> in order to maintain their licenses. The <a href="https://www.ucsfcme.com/2025/MMC25096C/info.html">course&#8217;s</a> objectives are for participants to “understand racism as psychological, sociological, and legal, as the main property and function of government, governance, and culture” and “develop individual and organizational anti-racist strategies and practices.”
The DEI agenda has been embedded in the medical field through the push for “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doctors-must-do-equity-training-to-keep-license-in-washington-state-under-new-law">health equity</a>,” which presupposes that discrepancies between the rates at which different racial groups experience health complications are due to racism.
Attendees of the February course will be taught how to “begin thinking about anti-racist processes, policies, and programs to lead actionable change” and “develop awareness and make connections about institutional, structural, systemic, systematic, and interpersonal racism (as White supremacy culture and anti-Blackness culture).”
Dr. Jared Ross, a Senior Fellow at <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org">Do No Harm</a>, told The Daily Wire why he believes the upcoming course is so detrimental to the medical field.
“It is disheartening to see UC San Francisco, a taxpayer-funded state institution, promoting racism to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals under the guise of continuing medical education,&#8221; Ross told The Daily Wire. &#8220;This 16-hour course has nothing to do with providing excellent medical care. Instead, it uses debunked pseudoscientific research to promote radical ideologies such as implicit bias, racial justice, and social equity.”
“This course encourages racial segregation, erodes patient-physician trust, and degrades the rigor of medical education by taking the focus away from the individual patient and instead defining people by immutable characteristics.”
King&#8217;s most recent work appears to indicate that he is doubling down on his past inflammatory claims. King is behind a <a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/">docuseries</a> called “Diagnosing Whiteness and Anti-Blackness” that focuses on “White Psychopathology, Collective Psychosis &amp; Trauma In America.” Episode one of the 10 part series is called “<a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/episode01">Whiteness is Delusional,</a>” and it describes whites as both &#8220;psychopathic&#8221; and &#8220;sociopathic.&#8221;
The episode description explains that King and his fellow activists “unpack how White racism and anti-Blackness work to the advantage of White people, portraying them as psychopathic, sociopathic, immoral, and delusional in the context of American society.”
<a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/episode06">Episode six</a> of the series cites “a lack of impulse control” as one of the “key factors that explain White behavior” and argues that “cultural whiteness” can be described through a “new clinical term” that he calls “Malignant Diabolical Psychopathy.”
“None of this should surprise us coming from Dante King, who is well known for his racist diatribes,&#8221; Ross said. “UC San Francisco would be better served to focus on teaching evidence-based medicine.&#8221;
UCSF did not respond to a request for comment.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), which works with 171 accredited medical schools in the United States and Canada, hosted a webinar Thursday on “Allyship” featuring instructors from across the country talking about how to embed DEI into their organizations. 
The webinar was the latest in the AAMC’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-racism webinar series. Presenters spoke about implementing DEI in all aspects of an institution through so-called “equity champions” and talked about how “trans men” were useful “allies.”

“As people outside the bubble of academia become more aware of the endless number of DEI initiatives that the AAMC has spent tens of millions of dollars to push instead of promoting science-based medical education, the public’s trust will dwindle,” Do No Harm Senior Director of Programs Laura Morgan told The Daily Wire.
“People want competent physicians who are dedicated to improving the health of their patients and I&#8217;m sure the leadership of the AAMC would want the same; a physician that is able to accurately address their urgent medical needs, rather than being an ‘equity champion.”
One of the webinar presenters was Andreá Williams, an English professor who runs Ohio State University’s The Women’s Place, which pushes women-focused programming at the university. During the webinar, she talked about the “Advocates and Allies” program she had started. 
Williams defined allies as “men or nonbinary people who feel comfortable in a setting focused on men’s transformational learning participate in a facilitated session to become active proponents of equity.” 
She said that “trans men,” women who identify as men, were sometimes the best “allies” for women. 
“But we do see that there are a few of our, for example, trans men advocates who are often some of the strongest speakers in being able to address gender equity because they talk about the different experiences they have in presenting as male and female,” Williams said.

She said that the allies program was not about getting men to help women, but “to redistribute the labor of working towards gender equity.”
Williams also said that treating everyone the same was not acceptable.
“There are a lot of times that people will say, ‘of course I’m not biased, I’m not prejudiced, I treat everyone the same.’ And while that is laudable, it is often inadequate to actually be able to address historic disadvantages and disparities,” she said. 
Williams said that a way to get institutions to adopt ally programs was by getting executive support, noting that she had built in operating funds for her ally program by including them in operating costs for the Women’s Center. 
Another webinar speaker was Erin Stampp, who works in the DEI office of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Stampp began by making a land acknowledgment, but didn’t read through the whole thing for &#8220;times sake.&#8221;

Stampp talked about her “equity champions” program, saying the goal was “to build institutional capacity for advancing racial equity and justice.” She added that there were 46 active “equity champions” in 22 out of 29 of her university’s departments. 
She said that a person can only be an “ally” if the supposedly oppressed person allows them to be. 
“I like to say practicing allies, as we kind of know, we don’t deem or claim ourselves to be allies,” she said. “We practice to be allies and then the people that we’re looking to be allies to can give us the title of ally.”

Acknowledging a recent “backlash” to DEI, Stampp said that “we know how important it is to build in accountability and sustainability.” She said that DEI needed “to be embedded in everything, and that takes time and resources.”

Morgan with Do No Harm said that the AAMC&#8217;s programing was a waste of time that didn&#8217;t advance medical knowledge. 
“The absurd messaging being pushed out by the AAMC via the schools and faculty members they partner with has no professional development value,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Medical experts hearing an activist speak on ‘intersectional awareness’ or the latest attempts, by speakers like Andrea Williams, to rebrand DEI related language once ‘the public&#8217;s awareness about diversity and inclusion becomes more complicated, or more sophisticated’ is a waste of a medical professional’s time.&#8221;
The AAMC did not respond to a request for comment on the webinar.
