Bill Maher came down hard on the liberal joke writers for “Saturday Night Live” over a skit they did in February which portrayed Trump supporters as racist.
The political commentator discussed his thoughts on the newest episode of Club Random, which featured fitness star Jillian Michaels as a guest. He was reacting to a skit with Tom Hanks from the “SNL” episode which features Hanks as a MAGA hat-wearing racist who wouldn’t shake the hand of a black man.
“I hated it, too, and I said it on my show. I know. I hated it,” Maher said. “Wearing the MAGA hat, not shaking hands with a black person. And that’s when I thought, ‘You people don’t know MAGA people.’”
“I mean, they have their issues and I certainly have my issues with them … of course, there’s some racists everywhere who are that bad, but generally, all the MAGA people I know have no problem shaking hands with a black person. You’re just hysterical and you’re not helping,” the podcast host continued.
Maher insisted again that it’s a “lie that MAGA people won’t shake hands” with a black person. “I get it, it’s part of a skit and it’s an exaggeration and that’s comedy. It’s a little too delicate a subject to go there,” he said.

“They probably think it’s great,” he said of the “SNL” writers. “As a liberal, I don’t like it. Again, because lying offends me. I’m a comedian, when the premise isn’t real, I can’t go with it. The premise doesn’t ring true. It might have rang true X years ago. It doesn’t now.”
Viewers on social media expressed similar sentiments about the skit when it first aired in February, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tom-hanks-bashed-for-playing-racist-trump-supporter-on-snl">reported</a>.
“This show wonders why their ratings are in the gutter. Trump won the popular vote. This tired trope that MAGA is racist is disgusting. SNL is an unfunny show,” one reaction said.
“For its 50 year anniversary special, SNL had Tom Hanks play a racist Trump supporter afraid to shake a black man’s hand. Fun fact: Trump’s 2024 election win was the LEAST racially divisive American election since 1964,” another person wrote.
“Hollywood still doesn’t get it: Portraying Trump supporters as racist caricatures while he’s winning record minority support. SNL’s trying 2016 jokes in 2025,” another person commented.

Vanity Fair is making some bold claims about the popularity of protein, saying that it’s become popular because of “influential podcast bros,” the MAGA movement, and an “undeniably gendered” interest from those who have more testosterone.
The article is being absolutely trashed online by many who understand that protein is a building block of the human diet and is beneficial for both men and women.

The <a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/style/story/protein-maga-craze?srsltid=AfmBOoq1dzywwPVzEFeodGZyZN0DGUc-IWHudBjT-loBMjzgPvmvPr7N">article</a> by Keziah Weir gives several examples from the “manosphere helmed by Donald Trump” which includes a “vocal contingent of intense protein-maxing ‘health’ obsessives.” Weir mentions podcasters, including Joe Rogan, Theo Von, and “The Liver King,” as prime examples of those promoting protein intake.
“By 2015, psychologists were finding that the overconsumption of protein among men could constitute an eating disorder. Was it correlation, coincidence, or some lean-meat canary in the proverbial coal mine that it was into this proteinous landscape that Donald Trump—burger loving, locker room talking, and all—announced his bid for the presidency?” the author wrote.
Weir added, “And now, amid a shrinking economy, following strides and setbacks for women’s rights via #MeToo and its backlash (including the overturning of Roe v. Wade), as well as marriage equality, visibility, and media representation for queer and trans people with a similar subsequent ‘anti-woke’ recoil—we have a second Trump term, MAHA, and what menswear commentator Derek Guy calls the &#8216;slim-fit revolution&#8217; of the manfluencer sphere.”
“Whether our current protein path leads to an accidental brush with transcendence, or face down on the pavement as gunshots ricochet nearby, remains to be seen,&#8221; the author writes in conclusion.

President Donald Trump mocked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Friday after the failed vice presidential nominee claimed that he could kick the &#8220;a**&#8221; of most of Trump&#8217;s supporters.
“I don’t know if you saw this, Tim Walz is now saying about Trump supporters, and forgive me, I’m just reading a quote from Tim Walz, ‘I think I can kick most of their a**,'&#8221; a reporter said to Trump as he answered questions in the Oval Office.
“Oh boy, he’d be in trouble,” Trump fired back. &#8220;He&#8217;s a loser. Yeah. No, I think so. He lost an election. He played a part. You know, usually a vice president doesn&#8217;t play a part.&#8221;

Ken Casey, lead singer of the Celtic punk rock band Dropkick Murphys, didn’t hold back his opinion of a fan who attended a show in Boston over the weekend with a MAGA hat in tow.
He began his rant by saying that Republicans “all wear” a “Chinese f***ing red” MAGA hat, which he claims is “dyeing their brains.” Casey continued, saying, “They&#8217;ve got the black-on-black Elon Musk, true Nazi edition. And then my man here, he&#8217;s getting ready for summer with a nice, f***in&#8217; white one.&#8221;
“Bro, listen, I admire your dedication,” the Dropkick Murphys singer continued while addressing the fan, “But I will ask everyone, if you’re in a room full of people and you want to know who’s in a cult, how do you know who’s in a cult?” He pointed at the fan. “They’ve been holding up a f***ing hat the whole night to represent a president.”

As the audience cheered, Casey said, “Anyway, anyway, if you mind, sir, we’re gonna play a song about our grandparents and people who fought Nazis in the war and s***. So if you could just shut the f*** up for five minutes.”
The band has singled out Trump voters in the past. At a show in Clearwater, Florida, in March, Casey made headlines for singling out a fan wearing MAGA gear and betting that the items he was wearing were not made in the United States.
“The reason we speak out, we don’t care if we lose fans, because when history is said and done, we want it known that the Dropkick Murphys stood with the people, we stood with the workers,” Casey said at the time. “It’s all a f***ing scam, guys.”
He also <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/punk-singer-dropkick-murphys-bet-maga-shirt-made-usa-2042315">bragged</a> that Dropkick Murphys “always sells proudly made in America merchandise only.” Casey said to the concertgoer, “And here’s the bet I’d like to make: If you lose the bet, we switch shirts, OK? If you win the bet, I give you $100 and the shirt.”
“It’s made in Nicaragua!” Casey said from the stage. “He’s taking the shirt off. We’re taking crime off the streets.”
The band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1996 with Casey being the only remaining original member. Dropkick Murphys are known for taking influence from Irish heritage when creating their music.

On Saturday, as “Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th anniversary, Tom Hanks was <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14404277/amp/SNL-Hollywood-actor-Tom-Hanks-portrayed-racist-Trump-supporter.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blasted</a> after reprising a role as a Trump supporter on “Black Jeopardy” who was seen as racist.
Wearing a red Make America Great Again hat again as “Doug,” a Trump supporter, Hanks answered a question correctly, then stated that if more people went to church, America would be better off. When Kenan Thompson, as host “Darnell Hayes,” crossed over to congratulate him on his answer, Hanks recoiled at first, then relented after Thompson said, “It’s only a handshake.”
Hanks&#8217; reluctance to shake Thompson’s hand struck many people as portraying Trump supporters as racist.
The show offered consistent gibes at President Donald Trump; in one sketch, parodying the song “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Miserables,” a member of the cast sang, “I dreamed a dream that King Kong died, then I remembered he&#8217;s in Florida.” In another sketch, actor Martin Short walked onstage, and comedian Steve Martin asked, “Do you have your passport on you? ICE, get him!” That prompted ICE employees to drag Short off the stage, yelling, “No! I&#8217;ll name names! Mike Myers! Jim Carrey!”
Weekend Update segment anchor Colin Jost quipped, “It is an honor and a thrill to be hosting Weekend Update for the 50th, and if it was up to our president, final season of SNL.”
In 2016, Hanks appeared on “Black Jeopardy” as “Doug,” saying, “They told me a fella could win some money, so let’s win me some money. Get’ er done.”

I like that,” Hanks recoiled from the outstretched hand, then took it, visibly shaking.

Shortly after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was sworn in as Secretary of Health and Human Services on Thursday, President Donald Trump announced the establishment of the “Make America Healthy Again Commission.”
Trump signed an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/establishing-the-presidents-make-america-healthy-again-commission/">executive order</a> on Thursday that establishes the commission — and dives into the American health crisis in detail, arguing that 90% of the nation’s $4.5 trillion in annual healthcare expenditures are for people with chronic or mental health conditions, and that 77% of young adults don’t quality for the military based, in part, on their health scores.
All of these items are points of personal interest to the new HHS secretary.
“In short,” the order says, “Americans of all ages are becoming sicker, beset by illnesses that our medical system is not addressing effectively. These trends harm us, our economy, and our security.”
“To fully address the growing health crisis in America, we must re-direct our national focus, in the public and private sectors, toward understanding and drastically lowering chronic disease rates and ending childhood chronic disease,” the executive order continues. “This includes fresh thinking on nutrition, physical activity, healthy lifestyles, over-reliance on medication and treatments, the effects of new technological habits, environmental impacts, and food and drug quality and safety.”
Trump’s order further argues that his administration seeks to “restore the integrity of the scientific process by protecting expert recommendations from inappropriate influence and increasing transparency regarding existing data,” and ensure that “our healthcare system promotes health rather than just managing disease.”
The “Make America Healthy Again” commission will be chaired by Kennedy. The assistant to the president for Domestic Policy will serve as the executive director of the commission, and a slew of other members of Trump’s cabinet will be included as well, including the Education Secretary, the OMB director, the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, and the Director of the National Institutes of Health.
Trump’s goal with the commission, according to the executive order, is first and foremost to fight childhood disease, but also address the overall health of Americans.
Within 180 days of the order, the commission is ordered to submit a strategy to “Make Our Children Healthy Again,” based on their findings from a “Make Our Children Healthy Again Assessment” that they will conduct.
“The Strategy shall address appropriately restructuring the Federal Government&#8217;s response to the childhood chronic disease crisis, including by ending Federal practices that exacerbate the health crisis or unsuccessfully attempt to address it, and by adding powerful new solutions that will end childhood chronic disease,” the order states.

Trump made the remarks during a Sunday NBC News interview with Kristen Welker on &#8220;Meet The Press&#8221; when asked what his message was to Americans who do not support him.
&#8220;I’m going to treat you every bit as well as I have treated the greatest MAGA supporters,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There’s never been anything like MAGA in the history of this country. These people are so dedicated to making America great again. It’s very simple. And I’m going to treat them just the same as I treat MAGA.&#8221;

Trump said that the 75-year-old had been &#8220;treated horribly by the Deep State&#8221; over the last few years, a reference to Navarro being incarcerated for four months because he refused to cooperate with the Democrat-led House Select Committee investigating the January 6 riot.

The Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday overturned the conviction of disgraced actor Jussie Smollett who was found guilty of filing a false police report in 2019 after claiming he was the victim of a hate crime.
The court overturned the ruling because it said he was unjustly prosecuted a second time after he was given a sweetheart deal by George Soros-backed Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx that resolved the matter as part of a negotiated settlement.
“We hold that a second prosecution under these circumstances is a due process violation, and we therefore reverse defendant’s conviction,” Justice Elizabeth M. Rochford wrote in the opinion.
A lawyer for Smollett said in a statement: “We are thankful to the Illinois Supreme Court for restoring order to Illinois’ criminal law jurisprudence.”
In January 2019, Smollett <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jussie-smollett-granted-chance-to-appeal-conviction-to-illinois-supreme-court">claimed</a> he was walking alone at night in Chicago during a polar vortex when two supporters of President Donald Trump — allegedly carrying rope and bleach — recognized him from his role on “Empire” and brutally attacked him while yelling racial and homophobic slurs.

Smollett returned to a friend’s home and called the police, still wearing the noose that he said was placed around his neck by his purported attackers.
It was later reported that Smollett hired two Nigerian brothers he had previously worked with to stage the attack to raise his profile and hopefully get him a raise on “Empire” and further his acting career. The brothers alleged that Smollett paid them to buy plain red hats that he later claimed were “Make American Great Again” (MAGA) hats, signaling the attackers’ support of Trump.
In September 2020, Smollett insisted he was “set up” and continued to claim that he was attacked by two white men wearing MAGA hats. The brothers who said they were paid to stage the attack are black. The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jussie-smollett-insists-he-was-set-up-says-he-has-two-new-witnesses-to-refuse-hoax-claims" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> at the time that Smollett suddenly started claiming he had two witnesses who could prove he did not fake the attack.
After Chicago police investigated Smollett’s original claims for two weeks, they suspected he had staged the attack. Smollett was charged with 16 counts of lying to police, but those charges were dropped as part of the plea deal he was given by Foxx.

Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who will take over as Senate Majority Leader starting in January, said during an interview on Thursday that the U.S. Senate will provide fair hearings to all of President-elect Donald Trump&#8217;s nominees.
Thune made the remarks during a Fox News interview with Bret Baier when asked about Trump selecting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead HHS and former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to lead the DOJ.
&#8220;The American people want change in this country,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They&#8217;re tired of the Biden-Harris-Schumer agenda, and they want President Trump to fix some things. And he wants to get a team in place that can do that, and we&#8217;re going to work with him to see that he gets his team installed as quickly as possible so he can implement his agenda.&#8221;
Thune said that all the nominees have a process they must go through and that Senate Republicans would not allow Democrats to &#8220;obstruct or block President Trump and the will of the American people.&#8221;
He also noted that using recess appointments is a possibility but that to get to that point, Republicans would effectively have to all vote to go to recess, meaning that if some Republicans had a problem with a specific nominee, they could vote against going into recess at which point recess appointments would be off the table.

Thune said that Senate Republicans would take advantage of how Democrats weaponized the use of the budget reconciliation process during the Biden administration to ram through unpopular legislation with a simple 51-vote majority.
He said the Senate was focused on fixing the border, strengthening the economy, boosting the military, cutting regulations and taxes, and dominating energy.

In a video posted on Monday on <a href="https://x.com/charliekirk11/status/1853591132082778196">X</a>, Mahomes was wearing a bright red Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt with a red “MAGA” hat and said, “Make America Great Again! Let&#8217;s do it,” as she cheered. 
The popular quarterback&#8217;s wife Brittany Mahomes made headlines earlier this year when she liked a post shared by former President Donald Trump, then immediately went on defense against the “haters&#8221; who attacked her.
In the original post shared by Trump on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C-m53xGu3MY/">Instagram</a>, the former president listed “The 2024 GOP Platform” to “Make America Great Again,” noting things like tax cuts, no tax on tips, securing the border, and stopping illegal immigration. He also posted about a promise to “end inflation,” “Make America Affordable Again,” and “Keep men out of women’s sports.”
Mahomes’ wife liked the post, without explaining which of the ideas she agreed with — and she then hit back at those who tried to cancel her, delivering a clear message to leftist adults who were upset, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C_B3CgGSRxC/?img_index=1">OutKick</a> reported.

“I mean honestly,” Brittany’s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/brittanylynne/">Instagram Story</a> read. “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood.”
“There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well,” she added.
Not even a week later, Mahomes’ wife appeared on the Whoop podcast and made it clear she doesn’t “give a f*** what people have to say about” her anymore, crediting her husband with teaching her not to worry about what others think, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/i-dont-give-a-f-about-critics-brittany-mahomes-after-getting-ripped-for-liking-trump-post">reported</a>.
“Yeah, I think we got kind of thrown into the fire together, and I think that’s what helped us, you know, do so well in the life that we are, is that we did it all together. And he is a lot better at it than I am, maybe because his dad played professional sports,” Brittany said. “So I think he was around it and he understood it a lot more than I did. So having him to help me get through it has helped a lot because he’s very good at, you know, managing those things and blocking people out.”
The Chiefs QB previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/patrick-mahomes-reveals-why-he-wont-be-endorsing-a-presidential-candidate">explained</a> why he wouldn’t be endorsing any presidential candidate this year, and said his only role was to remind people to do “their own research” when it came to voting.
During a Chiefs <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9NT-Dz4qHI">press conference</a>, Mahomes was asked by reporters about <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-reacts-to-taylor-swifts-kamala-endorsement">Trump’s</a> comments praising <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/brittany-mahomes">Brittany</a> after she liked his “MAGA” post.
“I’ve always said, I don’t want my place or my platform to be used to endorse a candidate … either way,” Mahomes said. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, to inform people to do their own research, and then make their best decision for them and their family.”
And Patrick explained that the ability to do so is “what makes America so great.”

A 60-year-old male has been arrested for beating a Trump supporter inside a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/new-york" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York</a> grocery store over the victim&#8217;s &#8220;Trump 2024&#8221; hat, police say.
The suspect, Robert Yott, allegedly targeted the Trump supporter over his &#8220;Trump 2024&#8221; hat and repeatedly punched the victim in the head and face, leaving the Trump supporter with broken teeth and a bloodied mouth, the report said.
&#8220;On [November 1], around 10:00 a.m., the Village of Bath Police Department was dispatched to a fight at the Tops Friendly Markets,&#8221; a press release from The Village of Bath Police Department said. Bath is a small town located in Steuben County.
&#8220;It was determined that Robert Yott, age 60, of Bath, initiated a confrontation with a stranger inside Tops, after becoming aggressive over the fact that the stranger was wearing a Trump 2024 hat,&#8221; police said.
&#8220;Mr. Yott punched the victim in the mouth and head several times, causing the victim’s teeth to be broken and mouth bloody,&#8221; the press release continued. &#8220;Mr. Yott was not known to the victim and this appears to be a random act of violence.&#8221;
Following the assault, Yott was arrested and charged with one count of assault in the second degree and fourth degree criminal mischief.

&#8220;Mr. Yott was arrested and charged with one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor,&#8221; the department said. &#8220;Mr. Yott was processed and transported to Steuben County Jail where he is currently awaiting CAP arraignment.&#8221;
Numerous supporters of former President Donald Trump have been targeted and attacked for their political views.
In June, for example, an 82-year-old man in Massachusetts was allegedly <a href="https://www.heraldnews.com/story/news/2020/06/03/fall-river-man-charged-with-assaulting-elderly-trump-supporter-held-without-bail/42913883/">assaulted</a> by a 27-year-old male for holding a Trump sign, police said.
In April, a 64-year-old man from New Jersey was allegedly <a href="https://www.app.com/story/news/local/red-bank-middletown-area/middletown/2024/04/05/edison-man-attacked-with-a-sledgehammer-at-middletown-nj-business/73224283007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">assaulted</a> with a sledgehammer and was hospitalized for significant injuries to the head. The suspect, 36-year-old Michael Gonzales, was charged with attempted murder over the assault. The victim, Rocky Granata, was known for driving around New Jersey in a vehicle covered with pro-Trump and MAGA messages, reports <a href="https://www.app.com/story/news/local/red-bank-middletown-area/middletown/2024/04/05/edison-man-attacked-with-a-sledgehammer-at-middletown-nj-business/73224283007/">indicate</a>.
