Bette Midler got slammed by social media users Friday after she suggested that MAGA women should move to Iran if they want a country run by &#8220;men and religion.&#8221;
The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/bette-midler" target="_blank" rel="noopener">76-year-old</a> activist and actress shared the post on <a href="https://twitter.com/BetteMidler/status/1588517688795602944?s=20&amp;t=ddLkN7eEHlITxU_E8glmrg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a> with her 2.1 million followers ahead of the 2022 midterm elections in which polls show that Republicans are expected to make gains against the Democrats.
&#8220;Hey MAGA women, if you want a country run by men and religion, move to Iran,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bette-midler-gets-attacked-as-a-terf-after-saying-women-are-being-erased-due-to-terms-like-birthing-people-people-with-vaginas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Midler&#8217;s</a> tweet read.
Reading through the comments, many people on Twitter were not happy with it and called the &#8220;Hocus Pocus&#8221; star out as a &#8220;bully,&#8221; &#8220;hateful,&#8221; &#8220;sexist,&#8221; and more.

&#8220;You truly have no idea how women are treated over there so your comparison is disgusting,&#8221; one person tweeted. &#8220;My husband did 3 tours in the middle east, he can shed some light on the atrocities that occur to women.&#8221;
&#8220;Hey Bette if you want bully people into voting the way you want you feel free to move,&#8221; another shared.
Another wrote, &#8220;Uh. Considering the Iranian women fighting and risking their lives to change things I feel like this is a really bad take.&#8221;
&#8220;Bette, I&#8217;ve been a fan of yours since I was a little girl, and I still am, but these tweets are so alienating,&#8221; another person shared. &#8220;Do you ever even try to consider why people might believe differently than you do? Maybe try having a conversation with one of these &#8216;maga women&#8217; you are sneering at.&#8221;
One person tweeted, &#8220;Guess you haven’t been paying attention! A lot of maga women are running for office. So how about you moving to Iran. They feel the same way you do about people who disagree politically. You would fit in.&#8221;
One commenter simply stated, &#8220;Stay classy.&#8221;
&#8220;If this were the other team, it&#8217;d be denounced as sexist, racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic, etc,&#8221; another person explained.
Another noted that the actress, who proudly calls herself a feminist, should be supporting Iran women.
&#8220;Hey Feminist, why aren&#8217;t you supporting the women of Iran?&#8221; the person wrote. &#8220;Those are truly oppressed women, yet they are standing alone.&#8221;
&#8220;Iran is based on Islamic principles,&#8221; another concluded. &#8220;MAGA wants to keep our country based on Christian principles. There is a wide difference between these principles. No comparison.&#8221;

On September 1, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Joe Biden</a> gave a prime-time address warning the United States that &#8220;MAGA forces&#8221; around the country were posing imminent threats to democracy.
The speech was widely decried as authoritarian and despotic. The U.S. had never seen anything like it. Pundits were convinced that the White House would never try something so out of touch again.
We were wrong.
On Wednesday, the White House announced that Biden would be giving a speech for the Democratic National Committee focusing on Trump supporters and the threats posed by Republicans should they win midterm elections next week. The event will take place at the historic Union Station in D.C.
&#8220;He has been clear democracy is under assault and we cannot pretend otherwise,&#8221; White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said of the president on Wednesday. &#8220;The president will continue to call attention to the threat to democratic integrity and to public safety posed by those who deny the documented truth about election results and those who seek to undermine public faith in our system of government.&#8221;
KJP also threw in a new twist — &#8220;Ultra MAGA Republicans&#8221; no longer exist. That supposedly fascistic wing of the GOP is now called &#8220;Mega MAGA Republican.&#8221;
&#8220;Unfortunately, we have seen mega MAGA Republican officials who don’t believe in the rule of law,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;They refuse to accept the results of free and fair elections and they fan the flames of political violence through what they praise and what they refuse to condemn. It remains important for the president to state strongly and unequivocally that violence has no place in our democracy.&#8221;

What KJP does not say is that she herself is an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-threat-to-democracy-bidens-new-election-denying-press-secretary-meets-the-lefts-definition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">election denier</a>, having cast doubt on both the 2016 presidential election as well as the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election.
The press secretary also claims that the GOP has encouraged violence — yet appears unaware that less than three weeks after Biden asked all Americans to help defend against so-called Republican &#8220;extremism,&#8221; an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-man-killed-a-teenager-for-being-a-republican-extremist-police-say-is-the-president-still-responsible-for-political-violence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">18-year-old named Cayler Ellingson</a> was killed by a nutcase in North Dakota who told police he murdered the teenager because he was a &#8220;Republican extremist,&#8221; according to authorities.
It is probable that Biden will attempt to connect the suspected Pelosi attacker — a drugged-out nudist, hippie, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-suspect-who-attacked-paul-pelosi-is-an-illegal-immigrant-report-says" target="_blank" rel="noopener">illegal alien</a>, who had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-neighbor-veers-from-media-narrative-when-asked-about-politics-of-pelosis-alleged-attacker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lived in a California commune</a>, and who has supposedly posted QAnon-related messaging and other conspiracy theories in recent months — to Republicans who deny the election.
But there is zero evidence to suggest that that weirdo was inspired by Republican talking points. In fact, it seems that he is just a nutcase attracted to the fringe of both parties.
This brings us to the real reason for the speech.
Biden knows that his party is going to get shellacked in the midterms. Polls indicate that Republicans will surely win back the House by a healthy margin and could even secure the Senate by <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/senate/elections-map-rcp-projection.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a tally of GOP 54 to Democrats 46</a>.
The American people are fed up with wokeism, Democratic policies, and the D.C. establishment. Biden and his gang have been unable to convince voters that the economy isn&#8217;t so bad, that crime isn&#8217;t really a problem, or that abortion should be the main concern at the ballot box.
So, instead, Biden will again try to denigrate half the country as threats to democracy. Fearmongering is the Left&#8217;s only option. In the words of Yogi Berra, it&#8217;s deja vu all over again.

As the old saying goes, politics ain&#8217;t beanbag.
The phrase comes from a 19th-century novel by writer Finley Peter Dunne. One of his characters, Mr. Dooley, an Irish American, often talks politics in his favorite Chicago bar. At one point, he says: &#8220;Sure, politics ain’t bean-bag. ‘Tis a man’s game, an’ women, childer, cripples an’ prohybitionists’d do well to keep out iv it.&#8221;
Politics has been a rough and tumble game all the way back to the beginning, sharp elbows and hardball at the same time. Even the Founding Fathers dabbled in personal attacks and disinformation to achieve their goals.
President Joe Biden knows all about the ugly side of politics and has played the blood sport for nearly half a century.
So it was beyond ironic when he said last week that his predecessor &#8220;made it all so personal.&#8221;
In an <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/president-joe-biden-60-minutes-interview-transcript-2022-09-18/">interview</a> on CBS&#8217; &#8220;60 Minutes,&#8221; Scott Pelley said to Biden: &#8220;Concerning politics, Mr. President, you were elected to the Senate in 1972. You were 29 years old. And in those days, it seemed that the parties worked together to move the country forward. And I think many Americans feel that that no longer happens, and, in fact, may be impossible now.&#8221;
Putting on his most avuncular mask, Biden said: &#8220;Well, I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s impossible. But it&#8211; it&#8211; it&#8217;s changed. What we do today, think about it, it&#8217;s all personal attacks. It&#8217;s about motive.&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s not about, &#8216;I disagree with you on the &#8212; on the subject matter. And secondly, I think that &#8212; it&#8217;s &#8212; I think it&#8217;s fair to say that we&#8217;ve not had a president like the last president, who has made all of it so personal.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;ve had six Republican senators, I promised I&#8217;d never say their names and I won&#8217;t, come up to me in the last two years and say, &#8216;Joe, I agree with you, but if I &#8212; if I vote this way it&#8217;s gonna&#8217; &#8212; they&#8217;re gonna&#8217; primary me. I&#8217;m gonna&#8217; lose an election. It didn&#8217;t used to be that way. But it&#8217;s coming back a little bit. It&#8217;s coming back,&#8221; Biden said.
But Biden has been personally attacking nearly half of the country &#8212; the 74 million Americans who voted for former President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
“You need to vote to literally save democracy again,” Biden said at an Aug. 25 rally in Rockville, Maryland. “Trump and the extreme MAGA Republicans have made their choice to go backwards, full of anger, violence, hate and division, but we’ve chosen a different path &#8212; forward.”
And earlier this month, Biden said: &#8220;MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards, backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.&#8221;
&#8220;Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic,&#8221; he later added. &#8220;MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of the law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election.&#8221;
That&#8217;s among the top talking points by Democrats these days as the country heads toward the mid-term elections in November. Even former President Bill Clinton has popped up again, saying, &#8220;democracy is fragile right now.&#8221;
The whole new narrative by Democrats amused Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
&#8220;These people have been personally hunting Donald Trump for what, five and a half years, and he&#8217;s worried about it getting personal,&#8221; she <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/transcript/ingraham-angle-bidens-60-minutes-int">said</a> on her show. &#8220;They called Romney every name in the book, Bush was a warmonger. These people invented the politics of personal destruction.&#8221;
And a guest on her show, John Ratcliffe, former director of national intelligence under Trump, echoed the same sentiment.
&#8220;It&#8217;s more than a little bit ironic, Laura, to hear them talking about threats to democracy. When you look at the last two years, under democratic rule, things have been about as undemocratic and about as personal as they can be, you know, parents are terrorists, Republicans are terrorists, Republican leadership or opposition leaders like Donald Trump must be rated or they must be arrested,&#8221; he said.
&#8220;The message is very clear: obey the state, do what we say, nobody is safe. So I think it&#8217;s very clear that when things are personal, it&#8217;s that democratic rule has been personal against anyone that would oppose what&#8217;s been happening,&#8221; Ratcliffe said.

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said President Joe Biden is going after so-called &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; to help Democrats win in the November midterms.
Appearing as a panelist on NBC&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/video/full-mace-there-s-a-lot-of-pressure-on-republicans-to-have-an-impeachment-vote-on-president-biden-149215301515">Meet the Press</a>&#8221; Sunday, Psaki said that in the early stages of Biden&#8217;s presidency, the American people did not want him to attack former President Donald Trump and his supporters. But now that many of Biden&#8217;s major agenda items have been passed, he is taking a harder line in hopes of holding Democratic majorities in the House and Senate.
&#8220;You were there [at a time] when you didn&#8217;t say [Trump&#8217;s] name,&#8221; Todd began his interview with Psaki. &#8220;&#8216;Don&#8217;t say their names.&#8217; It&#8217;s like Beetlejuice, somehow it won&#8217;t show up if you don&#8217;t say their name. Now [Biden] leans into it more. Why?&#8221;
&#8220;There was a strategic decision made when he came into office that &#8216;that&#8217;s not what the public wanted,'&#8221; Psaki replied. &#8220;The public wanted a President who was going to &#8230; kind of expand the base of people who [are] interested in them. But now, it&#8217;s election season again, he did a lot of what he wanted to do, much of it in a bipartisan way, getting legislation done. And now the gloves are off. He&#8217;s got to maintain control of at least one house of Congress.&#8221;
Biden has stepped up his rhetoric over the summer, saying that Trump and his supporters in the Republican Party are motivated by &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/horribly-insulting-gop-gov-demands-biden-apologize-for-saying-some-republicans-motivated-by-semi-fascism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">semi-fascism</a>&#8221; at a donor event in August. He went on to brand them as threats to American democracy in his now-infamous &#8220;Soul of the Nation&#8221; address on September 1, which was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-slammed-across-political-spectrum-for-optics-of-divisive-speech-satanic-ghoul" target="_blank" rel="noopener">widely decried</a> as one of the most <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/grim-old-man-screaming-ben-shapiro-others-react-to-bidens-dark-speech-before-eerie-red-backdrop" target="_blank" rel="noopener">divisive political speeches</a> by an American president.
Biden&#8217;s heated rhetoric, however, might not help him or the Democratic Party retain control of Congress. An <a href="https://www.langerresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/1226a1MidtermPolitics.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News/Washington Post poll</a> of likely voters released Sunday found that Republicans have a five-point advantage in the generic Congressional ballot in 2022, and former President Trump holds a two-point advantage in a hypothetical 2024 matchup among registered voters.
Last week, one of the nation&#8217;s leading independent pollsters pointed out that Biden&#8217;s divisive tone would likely make polling Trump supporters even more complicated, meaning pollsters could undercount Trump voters, and GOP turnout would be even higher than expected in 2022.
&#8220;Now [the] Biden administration has essentially classified ‘MAGA Republicans’ as a threat to democracy marshaling federal law enforcement to focus on them,&#8221; Trafalgar Group chief pollster <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leading-pollster-gop-voters-will-be-virtually-impossible-to-poll-after-bidens-maga-republicans-attacks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robert Cahaly</a> said in a Twitter thread. &#8220;This move has created a new type of voter that will be even harder to poll or even estimate.”
“I call this new group ‘submerged voters,’” Cahaly said. “They aren’t putting stickers on their cars, signs in their yards, posting their opinions, or even answering polls.  At this point I think it’s fair to say that Biden’s pursuit of and attacks on ‘MAGA Republicans’ has created an army of voters who will be virtually impossible to poll (even for us) and more difficult still to estimate.”
”The 2022 Republican turnout will likely be higher than any of the polls or models are showing,” he concluded. “All polls (including ours) will understate the impact of these ‘submerged voters.’”

While speaking at the Texas Tribune festival in Austin, Texas, on Friday, the former first lady, secretary of state, and failed 2016 presidential candidate recounted that when she was a student, she wondered why people in the 1930s and 40s were so enthralled with Adolf Hitler. Clinton implied that a similar phenomenon was going on with Trump supporters because, like at Hitler&#8217;s rallies, people at Trump rallies raised their arms while he was speaking.
“I remember as a young student, you know, trying to figure out, how people get basically drawn in by Hitler,&#8221; Clinton <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI98TIm-r_I" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. &#8220;How did that happen? I’d watch newsreels and I’d see this guy standing up there ranting and raving, and people shouting and raising their arms. I thought, ‘What’s happened to these people?’”
“You saw the rally in Ohio the other night,&#8221; Clinton continued. &#8220;Trump is there ranting and raving for more than an hour, and you have these rows of young men with their arms raised. I thought, ‘What is going on?&#8217; So there is a real pressure, and I think it is fair to say we&#8217;re in a struggle between democracy and autocracy.&#8221;

Clinton was referring to Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Save America&#8221; Rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on September 17. Trump closed his remarks with a prepared monologue set to dramatic music. As Trump was speaking, supporters in the audience raised their arms and pointed upward with their index fingers. Some commentators claimed the move was associated with the QAnon conspiracy theory, but others said the crowd was simply showing the number one in reference to Trump&#8217;s &#8220;America First&#8221; message.

Clinton was not the only left-wing figure to compare Trump supporters to Nazis after the rally. Washington Post columnist <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/09/19/trump-ohio-rally-qanon-media/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jennifer Rubin</a> claimed that Trump supporters pointing in the air &#8220;bore an uncanny resemblance to the infamous Nazi salute.&#8221; Other left-wingers, including feminist author <a href="https://twitter.com/JoyceCarolOates/status/1571921766393462789?s=20&amp;t=rTMfiSLBJheyqP7P7A8kHA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joyce Carol Oates</a>, Harvard professor emeritus <a href="https://twitter.com/tribelaw/status/1571503155204034561?s=20&amp;t=EsC-oen_6bwQvasIi0BNCQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Laurence Tribe</a>, retired Army General and MSNBC contributor <a href="https://twitter.com/mccaffreyr3/status/1571323249870671874?s=20&amp;t=v3NKX2ThGlowrASVFIz54Q" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barry McCaffrey</a>, and the left-wing legal organization <a href="https://twitter.com/CREWcrew/status/1571475307990863872" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Citizens for Ethics</a> all compared the rally attendees to Nazi supporters on Twitter.
“As usual, the media is working hand in hand with the Democrats weeks before an election,” Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich said in a statement to the <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/09/24/hillary-clinton-likens-trump-supporters-to-nazis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a>. “It seems like perpetual-failed-candidate Hillary Clinton’s basket of deplorables has run stale, not unlike herself. It’s pathetic, it’s divisive, and it is further cementing her legacy of cringe.”
Clinton infamously labeled Trump supporters &#8220;deplorables&#8221; during the 2016 election. “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the ‘basket of deplorables,’” Clinton said at the time. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic — you name it.”
Clinton&#8217;s rhetoric is also similar to President Joe Biden&#8217;s recent line of attack against so-called &#8220;MAGA Republicans.&#8221;
At a closed-door event with supporters in Rockville, Maryland, in August, Biden said that the ideology of Trump and his supporters borders on fascism. “What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden said. “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something, it’s like <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/25/biden-trump-philosophy-semi-fascism-00053831" target="_blank" rel="noopener">semi-fascism</a>.”

Cahaly said that President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Joe Biden</a>’s recent attacks on so-called “MAGA Republicans” will make polling supporters of former President Donald Trump even harder to poll than in previous years. Cahaly pointed out that in the last two presidential election cycles, name-calling and threats from prominent Democrats contributed to the phenomenon of the “shy Trump voter.” But as the 2022 midterms have begun in earnest, Biden’s escalating rhetoric against Trump supporters, accusing them of embracing “semi-fascism” and being a threat to America, will make these voters even harder to reach in polling.

“I call this new group ‘submerged voters,’” Cahaly went on. “They aren’t putting stickers on their cars, signs in their yards, posting their opinions, or even answering polls.  At this point I think it’s fair to say that Biden’s pursuit of and attacks on ‘MAGA Republicans’ has created an army of voters who will be virtually impossible to poll (even for us) and more difficult still to estimate.”

Other independent pollsters endorsed Cahaly&#8217;s assessment.
“Yes, call them an enemy of the state one month, and next month participation [falls],” Big Data Poll director <a href="https://twitter.com/Peoples_Pundit/status/1571132061054009347" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Richard Baris</a> said in response to Cahaly’s comments. “And those who do claim to be ‘undecided’ across the board.”
&#8220;Voter demonization leads to devilish difficulties in surveying,&#8221; <a href="https://twitter.com/Rasmussen_Poll/status/1571237206672515078?s=20&amp;t=VCQRXt2QTG2g6SVYPNNN-A" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rasmussen Reports</a> replied, promoting Cahaly&#8217;s thread.
Cahaly’s remarks come after New York Times chief political analyst Nate Cohn warned that mainstream polling is significantly overstating support for Democrats and is headed for yet another serious polling miss.
“[The] warning sign is flashing again: Democratic Senate candidates are outrunning expectations in the same places where the polls overestimated Mr. Biden in 2020 and Mrs. Clinton in 2016,” Cohn wrote.
Cohn pointed to the example of Wisconsin, where institutional polls in 2020 overstated Biden’s support in the state by about 8 points; in 2022, polls are favoring Democratic Senate candidate Mandela Barnes by a similar margin.
“It raises the possibility that the apparent Democratic strength in Wisconsin and elsewhere is a mirage — an artifact of persistent and unaddressed biases in survey research,” Cohn said. “If the polls are wrong yet again, it will not be hard to explain. Most pollsters haven’t made significant methodological changes since the last election.”

In yet another attempt by Democrats to link those who acted terribly on January 6, 2021, with conservatives standing up on other issues, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) compared conservative parents who have protested at school board meetings to the miscreants of January 6.
Johnson’s comments dovetailed with first lady Jill Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/all-books-should-be-in-the-library-jill-biden-takes-shot-at-parents-concerned-about-inappropriate-books-in-school-libraries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">implicitly criticizing parents</a> who have protested against the inclusion of inappropriate books at school libraries by insisting “All books should be in the library. All books. This is America. We don’t ban books.”
“January 6, 2021 will never be forgotten: an infamous day in American history. MAGA Republicans descended upon the Capitol, engaged in an insurrection; they occupied the Capitol,” Johnson started his diatribe. “Five people were killed; hundreds injured; including hundreds of Capitol Hill police officers, attacked and bludgeoned. It was a day that we’ll never forget.”
Then Johnson, who in a 2010 House Armed Services Committee hearing <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjG958lZ1KI" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asked a Navy admiral</a> if overpopulation could cause the island of Guam to “tip over and capsize,” linked January 6 to concerned parents protesting at school board meetings: “And people on the local level at affected school board meetings. They won’t forget the MAGA Republicans descending on their school board meetings after January 6, like January 6.”
Johnson declared that parents protesting at school board meetings were part of a “coordinated attack happening across the country,” adding, “Americans won’t forget about it. School board members, teachers, administrators subjected to violence, threats of violence, harassment, intimidation.”
Then Johnson segued to the infamous letter written by the National School Boards Association in which they claimed that some of the actions at school board meetings “could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.”
Johnson claimed that in response to the “threats of violence, harassment, intimidation,” “the National School Boards Association sent a letter to the Biden administration seeking federal help. Things had gotten so far out of hand.”
“And by the way, there’s not one scintilla of evidence, either direct or indirect, that there was any coordination between the Biden administration and the National School Boards Association that caused that letter to be sent seeking federal assistance,” he insisted.
Yet the original letter acknowledged “recent discussions with White House and U.S. Department of Education staff on many critical issues facing public schools, including threats school officials are receiving.” Additionally, Chip Slaven, the CEO of the National School Boards Association <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/nsba-collaborated-with-white-house-before-letter-describing-domestic-terrorism-at-school-board-meetings-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sent an email</a> announcing the letter “was sent to President Biden concerning threats to public schools and school board members,” adding, “Additionally, in talks over the last several weeks with White House staff, they requested additional information on some of the specific threats, so the letter also details many of the incidents that have been occurring.’”
Viola Garcia, the president of NSBA, sent an email on October 2 stating, “NSBA has been engaged with the White House and the Department of Education on these and other issues related to the pandemic for several weeks now.”
The National School Boards Association <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/nsba-apologizes-for-letter-describing-potential-domestic-terrorism-at-school-board-meetings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ultimately apologized</a> for the letter, stating, “&#8230; there was no justification for some of the language included in the letter. We should have had a better process in place to allow for consultation on a communication of this significance. We apologize also for the strain and stress this situation has caused you and your organizations.”

Underdog Trump-Republican Karoline Leavitt <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/13/us/politics/karoline-leavitt-nh-house-gop-primary.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">won</a> the GOP primary for New Hampshire&#8217;s First Congressional District on Tuesday. 
Leavitt, who worked in former President Donald Trump&#8217;s press shop and then for Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), could become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress if she pulls out a win in November. She turned 25 years old last month. 
“It feels like the honor of a lifetime,” the young politico <a href="https://nhjournal.com/leavitt-chris-pappas-has-never-faced-a-candidate-like-me/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> NH Journal after her win. “I’m so humbled, I’m at a loss for words over the outpouring of support from conservatives, from every community.”
Republican Matt Mowers, who worked on Trump&#8217;s 2016 presidential campaign and served in the State Department during the Trump administration, was the presumed frontrunner for nearly a year, but in recent weeks Leavitt was able to pull ahead. The 25-year-old received support from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), and other big-name Republicans.
“When we got into this a year ago, nobody knew who I was,&#8221; Leavitt said. &#8220;I had no money in the campaign account. I just had a drive and a work ethic and a passion to fight for this state and that is paid off over the last year.&#8221;
During her victory speech on Tuesday, Leavitt acknowledged the historic nature of her win and predicted another victory in the November election against Democrat Rep. Chris Pappas.
&#8220;Tonight, we made history,&#8221; she told supporters. &#8220;And I look forward to serving as the youngest congresswoman in United States history when we beat Chris Pappas.&#8221;
&#8220;As many of you know, my youth is one of the many reasons that I felt compelled to run for Congress in the first place,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;Because it&#8217;s my generation of Americans &#8212; your children, your grandchildren &#8212; who are not being served well by the current state of our education system, our media and our entire culture.&#8221;
Far-Left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) received winning media attention in 2018 when she became the youngest woman elected to Congress at age 29.
“This is what is possible when every day people come together in the collective realization that all our actions — no matter how small or how large — are powerful, worthwhile and capable of lasting change,” Ocasio-Cortez <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/06/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-is-now-the-youngest-woman-elected-to-congress.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gushed</a> in her victory speech at the time. “Words cannot express my gratitude.”
Speaking to Fox News on Tuesday evening, Leavitt said voters wanted a &#8220;home-grown America First conservative going up against Chris Pappas this fall.&#8221;
The Republican dismissed the questioning of her far-Right platform, telling Fox News that being America First is &#8220;not partisan.&#8221;

Nearly two-thirds of Americans, including a surprisingly large majority of Democrats, believe the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/joe-biden" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden</a> administration&#8217;s attacks on so-called &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; are dividing the country.
According to a survey of 1,277 U.S. adults, conducted by <a href="https://tippinsights.com/by-2-to-1-voters-call-biden-maga-remarks-divisive-i-i-tipp-poll/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">I&amp;I/TIPP</a> between September 7-9, nearly two-thirds of Americans, 62% agreed that the White House&#8217;s attacks on so-called &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/maga" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MAGA Republicans</a>&#8221; increase division in the country, while just 29% disagreed. Majorities of Americans also agreed that Biden&#8217;s attacks on &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; endangers Americans&#8217; First Amendment Rights, and was a politically biased use of the office.
&#8220;President Biden&#8217;s recent comments about Trump supporters espousing &#8216;semi-fascism&#8217; and accusing the former president&#8217;s followers of representing &#8216;an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic&#8217; shocked many Americans,&#8221; the outlet reported. &#8220;Now, despite White House denials of ill intent, a majority of voters call Biden&#8217;s remarks divisive.&#8221;
The poll asked respondents to agree or disagree with the statement: &#8220;President Biden&#8217;s characterization of &#8216;MAGA&#8217; Republicans increases division in the country.&#8221; A total of 62% agreed, including 37% who strongly agreed.
Notably, self-identified Democrats agreed with the statement more than Republicans or Independents. Fully 73% of Democrats agreed that Biden&#8217;s remarks further divided the country, including 43% who strongly agreed; just 19% disagreed, and 9% strongly disagreed. More Independents agreed with the statement than Republicans as well; 57% said Biden&#8217;s remarks sowed further division, including 34% who agreed strongly; 29% disagreed, with 17% disagreeing strongly. Close to a majority of Republicans, 50%, agreed, including 31% who strongly agreed, while 41% disagreed, including 31% who strongly disagreed.
The second statement the poll asked Americans to respond to was whether &#8220;President Biden&#8217;s characterization of &#8216;MAGA&#8217; Republicans endangers Americans&#8217; First Amendment rights to free speech and free assembly.&#8221;
A majority, 55% agreed with the statement, while 34% disagreed. Democrats agreed much more than Republicans or Independents to that statement too: a significant majority, 65% of Democrats, agreed with the statement. A plurality of Independents, 45%, agreed with the statement, while 36% disagreed. Republicans were evenly split on the issue, 45% agree-45% disagree.
Finally, the survey asked respondents to react to the statement: &#8220;President Biden&#8217;s characterization of &#8216;MAGA&#8217; Republicans is an uncouth and politically biased use of the office of the president.&#8221; Democrats once again led the way significantly: fully two-thirds of Democrats, 66%, agreed, while just 22% disagreed. Another plurality of Independents, 47% agreed, while 34% disagreed. A near-majority of Republicans, 49%, also agreed, while 39% disagreed.
Biden railed against former President Donald Trump and so-called &#8220;MAGA Republicans&#8221; in a speech centered on &#8220;the Continued Battle for the Soul of the Nation&#8221; in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-demonizes-millions-of-americans-while-calling-for-unity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">September 1</a>. “Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal,” Biden said. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”
“There’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans,&#8221; Biden added. &#8220;And that is a threat to this country.&#8221;
Biden&#8217;s speech was part of an ongoing escalation in rhetoric, <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2022/08/25/biden-trump-philosophy-semi-fascism-00053831" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demonizing</a> pro-Trump Republicans as dangerous and extreme.  “What we’re seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of extreme MAGA philosophy,” Biden said at a closed-door meeting with donors in August. “It’s not just Trump, it’s the entire philosophy that underpins the — I’m going to say something, it’s like semi-fascism.”

Watters shared several clips — including one of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas — recognizing the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and making an immediate pivot to invoke the January 6th riot on Capitol Hill.
&#8220;When 9/11 occurred in those — in those years, we were very focused on the foreign terrorist. Now we are seeing an emerging threat, of course over the last several years of the domestic violent extremist, an ideology of hate,&#8221; Mayorkas said in the clip. &#8220;Antigovernment sentiment. False narratives propagated on online platforms. Even personal grievances.&#8221;
&#8220;That was a sitting U.S. Senator the former Secretary of State, and the Secretary of Homeland Security just casually pivoting from 9/11 to January 6th. Did you guys notice how casual that was?&#8221; Watters observed. &#8220;They just said Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is Stephen Miller with a beard.&#8221;
&#8220;I remember during the Bush years when Democrats would howl at Republicans for &#8216;politicizing 9/11&#8217; because they wore a little flag pin,&#8221; Watters continued. &#8220;Now Democrats declared a war on terror against Republicans on the anniversary of 9/11. What makes you a terrorist again? Because you have personal grievances? Well, I have a personal grievance, is that going to put me on a no-fly list? &#8220;It takes no imagination to draw the line between the South’s mythical <a href="https://www.battlefields.org/learn/articles/lost-cause-definition-and-origins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lost Cause</a> and the chant to &#8216;Make America Great Again.&#8217; Indeed, the MAGA movement venerates the Confederacy and managed to accomplish what the South never did: stage an assault on the U.S. Capitol bearing the Confederate flag and organize an effort to stave off the peaceful transfer of power,&#8221; Rubin explained.
&#8220;Both the old Confederacy and the MAGA movement pine for a fraudulent past and dress up base racism in a gauzy wrapping of honor, masculinity and military virtue,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;And the paranoia about an existential crisis that so many MAGA followers share tracks with the Confederacy’s fear that their way of life (slavery) was endangered by Northern forces.&#8221;
Rubin was far from the only one to leap to Civil War conclusions in the wake of President Joe Biden&#8217;s comments essentially dividing the country in half. Biden has repeatedly referred to &#8220;election deniers&#8221; as a threat to democracy and accused MAGA Republicans of embracing &#8220;semi-fascism.&#8221;
The White House has attempted to clarify in the days since that his remarks were aimed at GOP leadership and elected officials rather than Republican voters, but the answers coming from Press Secretary <a href="https://dailywire.com/news/its-not-just-republican-leadership-press-secretary-appears-to-admit-extremist-threat-is-the-people/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karine Jean-Pierre</a> seem to have done more to muddy the water than to clear the air.
&#8220;I mean, the president has been really clear about the leadership, right, the MAGA Republicans in leadership. They’re the ones who have the platform, they’re the ones who — again, the extremist part of the Republican Party,&#8221; Jean-Pierre told Real Clear Politics reporter Phillip Wegmann.
But just seconds later, she appeared to contradict her own position, adding, &#8220;Well, let me be very clear: it’s not just Republican leadership. It’s not just that blanket, right, he is talking about an extreme portion, an extreme part of the party. He’s been very, very clear about that.&#8221;

Former Atlanta Mayor and current senior White House adviser Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) said during an interview Sunday morning that President Joe Biden&#8217;s speech demonizing millions of Americans as extremist threats to the U.S. was needed because the administration believes it has to &#8220;call out hatred.&#8221;
&#8220;Ahead of the president&#8217;s speech, The White House was insistent the speech would be optimistic, was about bringing people together yet in it, Biden said President Trump&#8217;s MAGA supporters are a danger to democracy,&#8221; ABC&#8217;s Martha Raddatz said on &#8220;This Week.&#8221;
&#8220;How is that a unifying message?&#8221; Raddatz asked.
Bottoms responded by claiming that Biden&#8217;s goal was to remind &#8220;the American people of who we are as a country.&#8221;
&#8220;So, the president spoke optimistically about who we are as Americans,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;We are the greatest nation in the world. But also a reminder that we have to be intentional about being the greatest nation in the world and that we have to call out hatred. We have to call out this balance and that if we don’t, our democracy is in danger.&#8221;

We are a democracy that’s been built on the rule of law. We are a democracy that values the peaceful transition of power. We are a democracy that values the right of people to go and vote safely and in peace.
And so, what the president has done as our commander-in-chief is he’s remind &#8212; he has reminded us that democracies are fragile. You know this. You’ve been across the globe. And if we are not intentional about preserving who we are as a country, if we are not intentional about reminding ourselves that there is a rule of law in this country, then we will be in danger.
So, the president spoke optimistically about who we are as Americans. We are the greatest nation in the world. But also a reminder that we have to be intentional about being the greatest nation in the world and that we have to call out hatred. We have to call out this balance and that if we don’t, our democracy is in danger.
