In the latest issue of <a href="https://www.firstforwomen.com/posts/celebrities/lori-loughlin-first?utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=instagram">First For Women</a> magazine, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lori-loughlins-post-prison-comeback-solidified-in-new-christmas-movie" target="_blank" rel="noopener">59-year-old actress</a> opened up about persevering after hard times four years after she pled guilty for her part in the Varsity Blues college admission scandal along with her husband Mossimo Giannulli.
“Every day we’re met with different obstacles, but it’s all in how you approach things,” Loughlin said. “For me, it’s just persevering and as an actress, I hear ‘no’ a lot, so I just have to be myself and persevere and try not to let in negativity.”
“My advice is to just keep moving forward,” she added. “Everyone has good times and bad times. That’s life. I think you just have to pick yourself up. Nobody said life was going to be a breeze. There’s beauty in life, but there’s also hardship in life.”

&#8220;In March 2019, I get a strange text around 5:30 am from my good friend Roger Lodge,&#8221; Stamos wrote. &#8220;He asks if Lori is okay. I hit him back, &#8216;Why, what&#8217;s up?&#8217; &#8221;
&#8220;Something about a college scandal,&#8221; he wrote back.
&#8220;I started Googling, but there was very little I could find,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I knew she was working in Canada, so I called to check on her.&#8221;
He said Loughlin answered the phone pretty nonchalantly and he recalled her being unfazed about the phone possibly being bugged.

Stamos recalled asking Loughlin about a series of clicks he heard while they were talking on the phone, and her response was shockingly low-key: &#8220;&#8216;Oh that, yeah, I&#8217;m not sure.&#8217; She answers so casually as if I just asked her if [fictional twins on &#8216;Full House]&#8217; Nicky and Alex finished all their vegetables.&#8221;

Dozens of prominent people including “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman and more than <a href="https://www.scmp.com/news/world/united-states-canada/article/3001418/fbi-charges-rich-parents-including-tv-stars">30 other wealthy parents</a> were accused of paying bribes to get their children into prestigious colleges.
According to law enforcement, Loughlin and her husband <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/pop-culture-news/lori-loughlin-pays-500k-college-tuition-2-students-after-admissions-n1282644">paid $500,000</a> to Rick Singer and the Key Worldwide Foundation, pretending it was a donation, to ensure the University of Southern California would think their two daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade, were part of the rowing team &#8211; therefore gaining their daughters’ admissions to the school. The girls received scholarships despite not participating in the sport. 
Loughlin and Giannulli were <a href="https://variety.com/2019/biz/news/lori-loughlin-bribery-charge-1203379393/">charged</a> with fraud, money laundering, and bribery. The couple maintained their innocence vehemently before eventually <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lori-loughlin-pleads-guilty-could-serve-two-months-in-jail">accepting a plea deal</a> in May 2020. They both were sentenced with community service, brief stints in jail, and supervised release.

She was released in December. Critics have stated that her lavish lifestyle makes her look less than contrite.
The “When Calls the Heart” alum quietly returned to television two years after serving time. Per <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/09/lori-loughlin-reprise-abigail-stanton-when-calls-the-heart-season-2-when-hope-calls-gac-family-return-to-acting-college-admissions-scandal-1234845738/">Deadline</a>, Loughlin reprised her role as Abigail Stanton in the “When Calls the Heart” spinoff “When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas.”

It’s not just GAC discussing second chances. Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade also pleaded for forgiveness and second chances during a conversation with Jada Pinkett Smith on Red Table Talk in 2020, per BBC News. 
“When all this first happened and it became public I remember thinking, how are people mad about this? It sounds so silly, but in the bubble that I grew up in, a lot of kids’ parents were donating to schools,” she <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-55243617">said</a> at the time. “It’s not fair and it’s not right but it was happening.” 
“We messed up. I just want a second chance to be like, ‘I recognize I messed up.’ And for so long I wasn’t able to talk about this because of the legalities behind it,” she continued. 
“What’s so important to me is to learn from the mistake, not to be shamed and punished and never given a second chance.”
Loughlin also made a public apology in August ahead of her sentencing.
“I made an awful decision. I went along with a plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process,” she <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-apologized-college-admissions-sentencing">said</a> at the time, according to Fox News. 
“In doing so, I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass,” she continued. “I thought I was acting out of love for my children, but in reality it only undermined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments.”
“That realization weighs heavily on me and while I wish I could go back and do things differently, I can only take responsibility and move forward. &#8220;Full House&#8221; actress Lori Loughlin has been released from prison after serving two months for her participation in the college admissions scandal, a.k.a. &#8220;Operation Varsity Blues.&#8221;
According to <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-released-prison-college-admissions-scandal">Fox News</a>, a spokesperson from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Dublin, California, confirmed Loughlin&#8217;s release on Monday. She was originally given a release date of December 27, which, due to a U.S. Department of Justice stipulation that inmates who are scheduled to be released on a weekend instead be released just before the Christmas holiday. Loughlin, however, was not released in time to celebrate Christmas with her family and was instead scheduled for release Monday.

Olivia Jade then asserted that she will use her privilege for good going forward.
&#8220;I just want to make it very clear I&#8217;m very aware there are big problems going on in the world that are outside my bubble,&#8221; she said. &#8220;But how much better of a person would you be if you used your blessings to help somebody else?&#8221;
As noted THR, co-host Adrienne Banfield Norris was a bit uneasy about Olivia Jade joining the show.
&#8220;I just found it really ironic that she chose three Black women to reach out to for her redemption story. I feel like, here we are, white women coming to Black women for support when we don’t get the same from them,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Her being here is the epitome of white privilege to me. It’s not our responsibility to raise her consciousness.&#8221;

After a year-long legal battle, actress Lori Loughlin has been sentenced to two months in prison for her role in the infamous college admissions scandal. Her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, will serve five months in prison.

&#8220;In their <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-mossimo-giannulli-officially-plead-guilty-in-college-admissions-scandal-case" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">plea agreement</a>, Loughlin, 56, agreed to serve two months and pay a $150,000 fine along with two years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service. Giannulli, meanwhile, would serve five months in prison, pay a $250,000 fine with two years of supervised release and 250 hours of community service,&#8221; reported <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-mossimo-giannulli-sentenced-college-admissions-scandal">Fox News.</a>
Loughlin at first appeared calm and collected when her attorney spoke; she, however, became emotional when she apologized to the judge.
&#8220;I made an awful decision. I went along with a plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process, and in doing so I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass,” she said. “I have great faith in God, and I believe in redemption, and I will do everything in my power to redeem myself and use this experience as a catalyst to do good.”
Loughlin&#8217;s attorney, BJ Trach, noted that &#8220;Lori lost the acting career she spent 40 years building&#8221; and highlighted how her &#8220;family lived paycheck-to-paycheck&#8221; while she was growing up.
&#8220;She didn’t attend college because her family couldn’t afford it,&#8221; said Trach.

“In a sprawling, fast-moving prosecution, the failure to produce the notes earlier was simply a mistake,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven E. Frank wrote at the time. “The defendants have suffered no prejudice, and their suggestion that the notes somehow ‘exonerate’ them, or reveal that the evidence against them was fabricated, is demonstrably false.”
Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin O’Connell argued that Loughlin participated in the scandal to get &#8220;what she wanted, no matter how and no matter the cost,&#8221; asserting that prison time was necessary to show that “everyone, no matter your status, is accountable in our justice system.”

Lori Loughlin Sentenced To Two Months In Prison For College Admissions Scandal

After maintaining her innocence for 16 months, Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, will plead guilty for their role in the infamous college admissions scandal.
&#8220;The Massachusetts District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that the couple will plead guilty at a yet-to-be-determined court date,&#8221; reports <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-to-plead-guilty-in-college-admissions-scandal">Fox News</a>. &#8220;Loughlin will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, while Giannulli will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and to honest services wire and mail fraud.&#8221;
Loughlin could serve up to two months in jail, be forced to pay a $150,000 fine, and up to 100 hours of community service during a two-year supervised release. Her husband could serve up to as many as five months in jail as well as a $250,000 fine and another 250 hours of community service.

We will continue to pursue accountability for undermining the integrity of college admissions,” said Lelling.
The plea agreements are not technically final and hinge on a judge accepting the deal as outlined in the agreement, which the Federal judge is expected to do.

Speaking to <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/lori-loughlin-outraged-by-prosecutors-releasing-kids-rowing-photos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Us Weekly</a>, a source close to Loughlin claimed that the photos were released as a tool of intimidation.
“The pictures are obviously extremely inflammatory and controversial, meant to intimidate Lori because she has refused to take a plea deal,” the source said. “The photos were never submitted to USC as part of the application process. Lori’s lawyers will be responding to the photos of the girls on the rowing machine in a legal filing.”
&#8220;[She] won’t be bullied or intimidated by the federal government and she believes the jury will recognize it as well,&#8221; the source added.
Speaking to <a href="https://people.com/tv/lori-loughlin-terrified-about-new-charges-stress/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">People </a> in October of last year, a source close to Loughlin said that the actress feared her refusal to take a plea deal will prompt prosecutors to make an example out of her.
“They feel like this is David versus Goliath,” the source said at the time. “How do you go up against the federal government, when the government has decided to make an example out of you? How can you possibly move forward from this? This stress is about to break them. She is angry, she is sad, but most of all, she is terrified. It just gets worse and worse for her. And you have to remember: Nothing new has happened. They could have charged her with all of this last spring. But they waited. She feels like she is a scapegoat.”
Writing over at <a href="https://reason.com/2019/10/24/federal-prosecutors-are-punishing-actor-lori-loughlin-for-exercising-her-right-to-defend-herself/">Reason</a>, Scott Shackford argued that federal prosecutors were unfairly seeking to &#8220;punish&#8221; Loughlin for exercising her constitutional right to defend herself in a fair trial, something the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) has referred to as the &#8220;trial penalty.&#8221;
&#8220;A full 97 percent of all criminal cases are resolved with plea deals, according to the NACDL,&#8221; wrote Shackford. &#8220;The NACDL report warns that Americans are essentially losing their Sixth Amendment right to a trial because of the massive charging disparity between the offenses prosecutors offer in a plea deal and the offenses they take to trial. The report notes that &#8216;the mere decision to charge triggers a domino effect making a guilty plea the only rational choice in most cases. And as trials and hearings decline, so too does government accountability. Government mistakes and misconduct are rarely uncovered, or are simply resolved in a more favorable plea bargain.'&#8221;

An attorney representing actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli is asking a judge to delay his clients’ trials, citing “exonerating” evidence that has been recently revealed.
Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-mossimo-giannulli-lawyer-fbi-college-admissions-scandal-lie">reported</a> that Sean M. Berkowitz, who is representing the couple, wrote in court documents that personal notes written by William “Rick” Singer – the man behind the entire college admissions scam – was allegedly told to lie by the FBI. The notes, according to Berkowitz, suggest the FBI told Singer to say he made Loughlin and others who participated in the scam that the money they were providing to him was a bribe, not a donation to the school.
“Singer’s notes indicate that FBI agents yelled at him and instructed him to lie by saying that he told his clients who participated in the alleged ‘side door’ scheme that their payments were bribes, rather than legitimate donations that went to the schools,” Berkowitz argued in court documents. “They further note the Government’s desire to ‘nail’ one of the defendants ‘at all costs.’”
Singer’s notes said FBI investigators asked him to “bend the truth” when it came to the scandal.
“Loud and abrasive call with agents,” the notes said, as reported by Fox. “They continue to ask me to tell a fib and not restate what I told my clients as to where their money was going &#8212; to the program not the coach and that it was a donation and they want it to be a payment.”
Berkowitz also took prosecutors to task for withholding the evidence, which he says forced Loughlin and Giannulli to seek court remedies to obtain the evidence.
“The supplemental discovery produced today demonstrates that the Government was simply not being truthful with Defendants or the Court in the above filings, given that as early as October 2, 2018, Singer told agents working on the case the exact information we have been seeking in discovery, and those agents attempted to bully him into lying and saying something different,” Berkowitz argued. “This belated discovery, which should have been produced no later than 30 days after indictment, is devastating to the Government’s case and demonstrates that the Government has been improperly withholding core exculpatory information, employing a &#8216;win at all costs&#8217; effort rather than following their obligation to do justice.”
“The Government is trying to benefit from withholding information in violation of its obligations and the Defendants’ constitutional rights, but then force trial as quickly as it can. The Government should not be rewarded, nor the Defendants punished, for this kind of egregious lack of candor and violation of its obligations,” he concluded.
As Fox reported, Loughlin and Giannulli plead not guilty to bribery charges that accused the couple of arranging a $500,000 bribe to Singer to get their daughters not only into the University of Southern California (USC) but also on the crew team even though they had never participated in the sport.
“The charge of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The couple was <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-mossimo-giannulli-indicted-on-fraud-and-money-laundering-charges-in-college-admissions-scandal">previously hit with charges</a> of money laundering and conspiracy that could land them behind bars for <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/lori-loughlin-mossimo-giannulli-could-face-even-more-jail-time-following-money-laundering-indictment-experts-say">40 years if convicted on all of them</a>,” Fox reported.
