You can’t say Stephen Colbert didn’t try.
“The Late Show” host spent years spreading every anti-Trump narrative in the media. The “Very Fine People” speech. Russian Collusion. The Ballad of Stormy Daniels. Pee-Pee tapes. If it was critical of the president, Colbert pounced and seized.
True? False? Fake News? No matter. Colbert was on the case, weaponizing his nightly broadcast as an in-kind contribution to the DNC.
Except it didn’t work. Trump returned to the Oval Office earlier this year. And, now, Colbert won’t be around the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City to watch Trump complete his second term.

“The Late Show’s” cancellation sent shock waves through Hollywood. Supporters decry the decision, ignoring the cold, hard math behind the move. Reports say the show loses CBS $40 million (or more) a year.
Why would any business keep a show on the air for that price?
“The Late Show” became free therapy sessions for those who still can’t believe the country elected the real estate mogul – twice. They tuned in to hear their beliefs reflected back at them, aided and abetted by Colbert’s smug delivery.
It must have felt empowering to hear him call Trump Vladimir Putin’s [bleep] holster at the height of the Russian collusion scandal. Did it matter that it was all built upon a lie?
Apparently not. And Colbert never felt compelled to apologize for misleading his audience.
The Colbert we see today isn’t the one we were first introduced to on, where else, “The Daily Show.” His shtick at the time, expanded via “The Colbert Report,” was mocking a Bill O’Reilly-style commentator.
He excelled at the role, earning some respect even among right-leaning viewers. He put the funny first, much like he did as part of the “Strangers with Candy” sitcom years earlier.

He seemed a smart choice to succeed David Letterman on “The Late Show” in 2015, but he initially struggled in the ratings against “The Tonight Show” juggernaut. Then, Colbert found his inner Bernie Sanders and turned the showcase into a hard-Left platform.
The move paid dividends. “The Late Show” soon became the ratings leader before the rise of Fox News’ “Gutfeld!”
The shift didn’t help the show’s longevity. The bill has come due. Why?
He neglected to heed the Ghost of Johnny Carson. The late-night king knew well enough to mock both sides of the aisle and have fun doing so.
The joy seeped from Colbert’s performance. So did any sense of balance. Now, you’re as likely to see a “Pod Save America” host on his show as a Tom Cruise or Sydney Sweeney.
Progressive viewers may vote for Sen. Adam Schiff, but on a charisma scale of 1 to 10 he’s a 3, at best.
What happens next? Colbert vows to go down fighting, slamming President Trump with every sketch and monologue in his waning days. Oh, like he’s done the past nine or so years? The Legacy Media will <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2025/07/24/trump-epstein-files-late-night-hosts/85356533007/">amplify them all</a>, hoping to sway the public against Trump beyond their cartoonishly biased reportage.
Reporters will miss crafting headlines like this as much as they miss Colbert: &#8220;Late-night guys are giddy with Trump and Epstein jokes after latest developments.&#8221;
How can Colbert possibly do more to attack the Trump administration at this point? He can’t, unless he takes a page from “The View” playbook.
Unhinged conspiracies. Fear-mongering on steroids. Undisciplined rants that cause the studio audience to clap like seals and sane viewers to watch their jaws go slack. That’s all Colbert has left, and he risks losing whatever cultural heft he has remaining if he goes down that road.
Does he really want to start sharing “Legal Notes” like “The View” does to protect himself from lawsuits?

Plus, he’s only 61. Surely, he wants to keep working in comedy once “The Late Show” expires. He’s a natural fit for video podcasting, where the modest budgetary requirements all but guarantee his success.
Sane progressives will see right through any “View”-sized transition, meaning he’ll peel off some of his base along the way. Maybe the show will lose more than $40 million over the next 10 months.
The upside for Colbert’s late-night competitors? With “The Late Show” out of the way, they’ll be more progressive viewers for them to attract, at least on paper. No Colbert? Let’s see how Jimmy Kimmel is attacking President Trump today.
It’ll be a sugar high, at best.
Late-night TV is dying. Blame YouTube, the rise of funny social media accounts or comedians who actively chased away more than half the country with their polemics. Colbert is far from alone on that front. Seth Meyers, John Oliver, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel all lean to the Left. And they kissed conservative viewers goodbye some time ago.
“<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/5612703584001">Not good riddance but riddance,”</a> as Kimmel infamously said about his shift to the hard Left.
The format likely would perish with or without Colbert’s handiwork. We stopped collecting 8-track tapes some time ago, too. His Trump obsession, and fueling insults like “Clapter” to the lexicon, a term for jokes meant to spark applause, not laughter, made matters worse.
The biggest irony? While audiences no longer find Colbert’s shtick funny, a certain two-term president is having the last laugh.

We live in an age of narrative. Narrative matters more than the facts, and many of the people who know that work in the media, and many of them are opponents of Donald Trump&#8217;s agenda.
That means that any time President Trump tries to forward his agenda, he may face down actual false stories that are promulgated by the media that are antithetical to his actual agenda items.
The latest example is this insane example that has been totally under-covered, but is indicative of the way that so many in the media actually cover these stories. They don&#8217;t actually have personal knowledge of the story. They just report a story.
And it turns out the story is not true.
The Guardian <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jul/20/ice-secretly-deported-grandfather">reported</a>:
<blockquote>An 82-year-old man in <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/pennsylvania">Pennsylvania</a> was secretly deported to Guatemala after visiting an immigration office last month to replace his lost green card, according to his family, who said they have not heard from him since and were initially told he was dead.
According to <a href="https://www.mcall.com/2025/07/18/luis-leon-allentown-grandfather-ice-guatemala/">Morning Call</a>, which first reported the story, longtime Allentown resident Luis Leon – who was granted political asylum in the US in 1987 after being tortured under the regime of the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet – lost his wallet containing the physical card that confirmed his legal residency. So he and his wife booked an appointment to get it replaced.
When he arrived at the office on 20 June, however, he was handcuffed by two Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) officers, who led him away from his wife without explanation, she said. She said she herself was kept in the building for 10 hours until relatives picked her up.
The family said they made efforts to find any information on his whereabouts but learned nothing.
Then, sometime after Leon was detained, a woman purporting to be an immigration lawyer called the family, they said, claiming she could help – but did not disclose how she knew about the case, or where Leon was. On 9 July, according to Leon’s granddaughter, the same woman called them again, claiming Leon had died.
A week later, however, they discovered from a relative in Chile that Leon was alive after all – but now in a hospital in <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/guatemala">Guatemala</a>, a country to which he has no connection.</blockquote>
So his family had said they couldn&#8217;t locate him and were told he died, and then he turned up in Guatemala. The DHS stated, “The family of the individual allegedly told reporters he was handcuffed and taken by federal officers at a green card appointment in Philadelphia. This claim is completely false. There&#8217;s no record of the man appearing at any green card appointment in or around the area of Philadelphia.” Furthermore, said the DHS, ICE has not deported Luis Leon.
Even the idea that he entered as a refugee from Pinochet is not true. This is an effort to demonize ICE agents, who are already facing an 830% increase in assaults against them.
The story is important because it demonstrates how information flows in the modern world, especially in the online world, where this went totally viral on X. 
Why does it work this way? Because X is a machine built for instantaneous response. Mark Twain famously suggested, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.” That was somewhat true when Mark Twain was saying that back in the late 19th century, but it is much more true now when the online world means that lies are promulgated at an extraordinary rate, a truly extraordinary rate.

And it&#8217;s true over and over and over again.
Take, for example, the case of Mahmoud Khalil, who was freed by a court after the Trump administration tried to deport him. He was a person who had garnered a student visa under false pretenses. He got a student visa claiming that he was coming to the United States to study, when in fact he was coming to the United States in order to act as a professional agitator.
He came to work with Students for Justice in Palestine and various other groups on the Columbia University campus, where he was going to promote wild anti-Semitism and pro-Hamas sentiment.
And so Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that this is not what we are looking for in our immigrants. You&#8217;re gone.
So Khalil argued he was exercising his free speech rights. And Rubio fired back that we get to decide who comes into this country. We have the plenary power at State to decide whether someone is violating the edict, and we make the decision as to whether someone is of benefit to the United States.
The entire media came to Khalil&#8217;s defense, suggesting that Khalil was just a normal student who had no support for terrorist groups, that all the talk about him supporting terrorist groups was just false; he never would do something like that. He&#8217;s just a normal Left-wing guy who just really, really doesn&#8217;t like what Israel is doing in Gaza.
All of that blew up yesterday in an interview on CNN. He said the Trump administration is “weaponizing anti-Semitism.” He&#8217;s not really antisemitic. He&#8217;s not really a threat in any way. It&#8217;s just that the Trump administration is using antisemitism as a way of throwing out people they don&#8217;t like.
In the interview, he was asked multiple times whether he condemned Hamas, a designated terrorist organization in the United States, for what they did on October 7 and beyond. Over and over again, he refused to denounce Hamas.
Do you need people in the United States who don&#8217;t condemn State Department-labeled terrorist groups? That was Marco Rubio&#8217;s entire case. That was the case of the Trump administration when they tried to deport him.
It seems relatively inarguable. It&#8217;s one thing if you&#8217;re already a United States citizen; We don&#8217;t get to kick you out for having terrible views in the United States if you are a citizen.
But if you lie about why you came to the country and you came here as a political agitator on behalf of terrorist organizations, we should probably kick you out.
But the entire media went along with the idea that he was a wounded innocent who was merely parroting the rhetoric of mainstream Democratic officials. That was never true.
And by that time, it was too late for the debunking to happen.
This is happening all over the world. It&#8217;s not just true of the Trump administration immigration agenda. It&#8217;s true all over the world. The claims that are currently being made by mainstream media parroting the Gaza Ministry of Defense —which is controlled by Hamas — saying Israel is shooting people who are trying to get food from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, are lies.
What is happening, however, is Hamas is infiltrating those lines, and they&#8217;re literally shooting at the IDF soldiers trying to draw fire. In response, Israel is attempting to separate Hamas terrorists from civilians. Hamas is literally killing people who are taking the aid from Israel because they wish to hijack the aid.
Another lie: Extremist local Jewish West Bank residents had set fire to the 1,500-year-old church of Saint George in the Palestinian village of Taiba. This is part and parcel of a broader attempt right now by some to claim that Israel is targeting Christians, which is not true. They&#8217;re doing this based on this false report, and also the lie that Israel purposefully targeted a church in the Gaza Strip. They did not purposefully target a church in the Gaza Strip. That would be a moral, intellectual, and strategic absurdity.
What would generate that? Why would Israel purposefully target a church? Clearly it was an accident. But it&#8217;s been run with by many of the people who are now trying to generate outsized pressure on Israel by claiming somehow that Israel is filled with people who hate Christians, which is very strange, considering that Israel is literally the only place in the entire region where Christians can live safely and securely while practicing their religion.
The story turned out to be false. The report was spread so widely, even American officials repeated it before investigating.
What actually happened? Local Jewish residents were fighting the fire. There are no burn marks anywhere on the church. It doesn&#8217;t have a roof because it hasn&#8217;t had a roof for a long time; it’s essentially an ancient site. There is contemporaneous footage showing young men from nearby farms running up the hill with fire extinguishing equipment, according to The Jerusalem Post.
This is, again, one of these narratives that runs out of control very, very quickly and is spread on services like X that do a terrible job of separating the wheat from the chaff in terms of what is true and what is false.
It is that which leads to wild distrust on every issue.
It is very difficult to lock down the facts. One of the things I try to do on my show is to take enough time when a controversial claim is made to determine whether or not it is true. And so I might wait a few hours to determine what actually happened in a given situation, or even a couple of days in murky circumstances.
But that is not what the internet favors these days. What the internet actually favors is an immediate response, right now, without information. And if you wait, you are condemned for waiting. The idea is that if you wait, you must have some secret sympathies in some way or another. Whereas, if you just react and jump to your preferred conclusion, that somehow means you are more honest in some way.
It’s not true. Waiting is frequently the best thing to do in unclear circumstances so as to allow time for the truth to arise. That is the thing that actually should matter.
You can speculate; you can theorize, but people aren&#8217;t in the business anymore of speculating or theorizing. They simply jump to whatever conclusion is the most advantageous for their narrative and for their position, and then they insist that position is true regardless of the next set of facts that comes out.

A new study reveals how media in the United States and Europe simply parroted inaccurate information from the terrorist group Hamas and represented it as truthful.
The Network Contagion and Research Institute released their comprehensive report, titled, “<a href="https://networkcontagion.us/reports/7-15-25-the-4th-estate-sale-how-american-and-european-media-became-an-uncritical-mouthpiece-for-a-designated-foreign-terror-organization/">The 4th Estate Sale: How American and European Media Became an Uncritical Mouthpiece for a Designated Foreign Terror Organization</a>.”
The report started by illuminating how the media virtually unanimously purveyed a uniform narrative in which they lied about the efforts of the U.S. Department of State’s aid initiative, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which was delivering meals and direct food assistance to Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
“Within days of GHF’s first meal deliveries, it became the target of a deliberate narrative assault, driven less by verifiable facts than by the demands of a competing narrative,” the report states. “Reports and evidence of violence at aid sites began to surface, and international and U.S. media outlets, social media influencers, and NGOs started publishing articles that ascribed blame to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) or GHF for intentional violence against civilians, war crimes, and complicity in the crime of genocide. The reports quickly condensed into viral headlines, but the claim that the IDF was systematically murdering civilians was usually sourced from Hamas-run ministries or anonymous accounts, and often unverified. Moreover, evidence that Hamas could be responsible for violence around aid sites – evidence provided by non-Hamas Palestinian sources, by Hamas’s online communications, and by video that in some cases shows Hamas operatives deliberately firing on Palestinian civilians– was almost never suggested.”
“A core failure of media coverage is the routine elevation of the Gaza Health Ministry, a Hamas-run agency, as a trusted source on culpability for violence. &#8230; many mainstream media outlets remain willing to rely on figures and ‘facts’ taken from the Gaza Health Ministry,&#8221; the report continues. “The media framed a narrative sourced unreflexively from Hamas affiliates – a narrative which aims to uproot any challenge that undermines the terrorist-designated entity’s governance over aid distribution in the Gaza Strip. This effort transformed reporting into narrative laundering: the process of circulating unverified or unreliable information and framing it as a legitimate window into truth.”
“Our results suggest that the GHF was targeted and undermined by a collection of adversarial actors and institutional amplifiers acting synchronously and convergently,” the report continues. “Major media headlines cited Hamas-linked officials more than any other source – making a foreign terrorist organization one of the leading voices shaping news about GHF. Of the high-engagement news articles NCRI analyzed, Hamas-linked officials and organizations, such as the Gaza Health Ministry, were directly cited in headlines more than any other named source. In nearly three-quarters of those cases, it was not disclosed in the headline that the source was a Hamas affiliate.”
One example from the report: “The Washington Post retracted early versions of a report that explicitly stated Israeli troops killed over 30 Palestinians near a U.S. aid site in Gaza. The original headline attributed to ‘health officials’ the claims about Israeli troops being responsible for the deaths, but the journalists failed to clarify that this attribution solely reflected a claim from the Gaza Health Ministry. This consequently gave readers a false impression that Israeli responsibility had been independently confirmed.”
Another: “CNN corrected its report of a shooting near a Gaza aid site in which at least 31 Palestinians were allegedly killed. The original article uncritically reported the Gaza Health Ministry’s claim that the Israeli military was responsible without making clear that this accusation had not been independently verified.”
“A particularly salient example of this occurred when Gazan pharmacist Omar Hamad introduced the conspiratorial narrative that the GHF intentionally laced bags of flour with the narcotic Oxycodone. This claim went viral on X, racking up over 25.7M views across just 21 posts,” the report noted.
“While originating from traditional sources (NGOs, UN bodies, humanitarian advocates), these narratives are rapidly absorbed by future assassins like Elias Rodriguez or online networks that reframe them through radically different lenses on both the right and left,” the report opines.
“The belief that Israel is intentionally starving children or deliberately targeting hospitals under the pretense of counterterrorism is not grounded in verifiable fact. These are not legitimate policy critiques; they are fabricated atrocity narratives that reframe Israel&#8217;s actions as genocidal, regardless of evidence to the contrary. What’s most alarming is the shift from political disagreement to dehumanizing conviction. The experimental results show that exposure to these narratives moves individuals to endorse conspiracy-level accusations and adopt a moral framework in which Israel is no longer a flawed actor, but a fundamentally evil one,” the report concludes.

Conservatives criticized NBC News over a report comparing a Republican congressman&#8217;s use of a digital signature with former President Joe Biden&#8217;s use of an autopen to grant presidential pardons.
In an <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/lead-investigator-james-comer-biden-autopen-digital-signature-rcna216719">article</a> published on Tuesday with the headline, &#8220;Lead investigator into Biden&#8217;s use of an autopen signed letters with a digital signature,&#8221; the outlet examined letters from Rep. James Comer (R-KY) in Adobe Acrobat and found they were signed digitally. Comer is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Biden&#8217;s use of the autopen.
Biden recently admitted he used the autopen for mass pardons, but &#8220;did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons that applied to large numbers of people,&#8221; <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admits-he-used-autopen-for-mass-criminal-pardons-says-he-didnt-review-every-case?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=undefined&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=3&amp;rowHeadline=Latest+News&amp;rowType=Vertical+Carousel&amp;title=Biden+Admits+He+Used+Autopen+For+Mass+Criminal+Pardons%2C+Says+He+Didn%E2%80%99t+Review+Every+Case">according</a> to The New York Times. Instead, the former president &#8220;signed off on the standards he wanted to be used to determine which convicts would qualify for a reduction in sentence.&#8221;
A Comer spokesperson called the comparison &#8220;absurd.&#8221;
&#8220;Using digital signatures for official correspondence is a common practice for both Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives. Chairman Comer has never hidden the fact that he uses a digital signature when appropriate, and he approves all official correspondence that is signed digitally,&#8221; a spokeswoman from the House Oversight Committee told NBC News. &#8220;Legally binding subpoenas issued by Chairman Comer always bear a wet signature and are never signed using an autopen or digital signature. Comparing Chairman Comer’s use of digital signatures for letters to the unauthorized use of an autopen in the Biden White House for legally binding executive actions is absurd and misleading. The two are not even remotely comparable.&#8221;
Later in the story, NBC News noted digital signatures are widely used in Congress.
&#8220;The use of digital signatures has been common in Washington for decades, both in the White House and in Congress,&#8221; the report said. &#8220;Members of Congress and their staff regularly use printed versions of their signatures to respond to the voluminous amount of correspondence they receive.&#8221;
Comer responded to the story on social media.

Trump&#8217;s Department of Homeland Security slammed a Minnesota newspaper for suggesting that illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes against children may have just been confused about American culture.
The agency slammed the Minnesota Star Tribune on Wednesday for running an <a href="https://www.startribune.com/hmong-minnesotans-face-deportation-laos-ice-arrests/601385285">article</a> that said a group of Laotians arrested for child sex crimes may be victims of a “cultural misunderstanding.” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told The Daily Wire that the story was one of the worst examples of media coverage of the deportations of convicted criminals.  
“We have seen a lot of gross reporting, but this may take gold for despicable. There is no excuse for anyone to commit crimes against innocent children. These pedophiles are the types of sickos our brave ICE law enforcement officers are putting their lives on the line to arrest and remove from American communities,” she said. 
Last Thursday, the Star Tribune wrote that the Department of Homeland Security was overlooking the fact that Laotians arrested for child sex crimes grew up in a culture where young marriages are normal. 
“Some Hmong Minnesotans say they suspect many of the decades-old arrests that led to the deportations were a result of Hmong culture encouraging girls as young as 14 to date and even marry older men, which is against the law in the United States,” the outlet reported. “Their lives in Southeast Asia often lacked education, several Hmong Minnesotans said, and they often did not understand American laws.”
One of those featured sympathetically in the article was Chia Neng Vue, an illegal alien from Laos who was convicted in 1998 of criminal sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 and committing a crime for the benefit of a gang. 
Despite a judge ordering his removal in October 2003, Vue continued to rack up a criminal history in the United States. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Vue was arrested at least five more times between 2009 and 2012 for crimes including possession of a gun, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and domestic abuse.
“This illegal alien repeatedly broke our laws, committed sex and other violent crimes,&#8221; McLaughlin told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Why does the media continue to peddle sob stories of criminal illegal aliens — including child pedophiles — but ignore their American victims?&#8221;
&#8220;Instead of glorifying child pedophiles and violent criminal illegal aliens, the Minnesota Star Tribune should be thanking our law enforcement for removing these pedophiles from Minnesota,&#8221; she added.
A GoFundMe for Vue mentions that he has a family currently, but described his 1998 conviction for criminal contact with a girl under the age of 13 as part of “some bad decisions as a juvenile.&#8221;
The Star Tribune also quoted Democratic-Farmer-Labor State Senator Foung Hawj, who suggested that the ICE operations were overbroad. “Here we are, sending their children back over some petty misdemeanor, or things like early marriage that are transitioned by culture,” he said.
Hawj did not return a request for comment on whether he supported the deportation of Vue. 
The outlet also quoted another woman saying the cultural difference should be examined. 
“It’s seen in the eyes of American culture as, ‘You’re a predator,’” the woman said. “But in Hmong culture, he did nothing wrong.”
Other illegal alien Laotians arrested by Homeland Security Investigations in St. Paul include 44-year-old Yia Xiong, who was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and 44-year-old Thong Lao, who was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child.

New <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/08/us/politics/biden-aides-election-age.html">reporting</a> reveals an extraordinary isolation campaign by former President Joe Biden&#8217;s closest aides at the end of his term, with staffers screaming at reporters, changing his phone number, and blocking access from panicked Democrats trying to tell him the truth about his failing campaign.
The revelation appears in the recently published <a href="https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/754957/2024-by-josh-dawsey-tyler-pager-isaac-arnsdorf/">book</a> by a trio of legacy media reporters, titled &#8220;2024: How Trump Retook the White House and the Democrats Lost America,&#8221; written by Wall Street Journal reporter Josh Dawsey, New York Times White House correspondent Tyler Pager, and Washington Post reporter Isaac Arnsdorf.
Pager, conducting research for the book, managed to obtain Biden’s cellphone number in March 2025. The former president quickly agreed to an interview despite his aides repeatedly turning down similar requests from Page for several months.
Asked if he regretted dropping out of the presidential race, Biden said in a dispassionate tone, “No, not now. I don’t spend a lot of time on regrets.” He then ended the conversation to board an Amtrak train, Pager <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/08/us/politics/biden-aides-election-age.html">recalled</a> for the Times.
Pager’s brief discussion with Biden reportedly sparked panic among the former president’s top aides. “After the first call,” the authors <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/bidens-team-scolded-reporters-changed-his-number-after-they-called-personal-cellphone-report/">report</a> in the book, “furious Biden aides repeatedly called and texted [Pager].”
“One screamed at me for calling the former president directly. Others texted furiously, trying to figure out how I had obtained Mr. Biden’s phone number,” Pager said.
Although Biden himself initially seemed open to continuing to talk to Pager, the reporter’s calls began to go straight to voicemail.
Within days, Pager’s calls were greeted with a message from Verizon: “The number you dialed has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service.”
The Times reporter writes that this incident is reflective of the insularity of Team Biden throughout his doomed presidential campaign.
Pager reports that instead of confronting Biden with the harsh reality after his disastrous debate performance, his inner circle restricted access to him, making it difficult for even longtime allies, such as Senator Chris Coons of Delaware, to connect with the president.
On his way to a fundraiser after the debate, Biden asked his traveling aides aboard Air Force One what people were saying about his performance.
Rather than providing an accurate assessment, they offered what witnesses described as a &#8220;sanitized version&#8221; of the situation.
According to Pager, Biden’s aides never even allowed him to meet with campaign pollsters, instead presenting Biden with overly optimistic outlooks that alarmed campaign staff.
Following the debate, campaign pollsters presented their findings to Biden&#8217;s advisers, and their conclusion was damning: all polling indicated that Biden had no path to victory, and voters were not convinced that he was up for the job.
This assessment enraged Steve Ricchetti, counselor to the former president and chairman of Biden&#8217;s 2020 presidential campaign, who reportedly preferred a sanitized version of events.
“Two days after the presentation, Geoff Garin, one of the pollsters, checked in with Mr. Ricchetti. Mr. Ricchetti lit into him and said the presentation was out of line,” Pager reported. “It was not their job to tell them there was no path to victory. The pollsters, Mr. Ricchetti said, were supposed to provide the path to win.”
Rep. Pete Aguilar, a top House Democrat from California, confronted Ricchetti in a heated call, asking, &#8220;Do you realize how bad it is? Has anyone told the president how bad it is?&#8221;
When Ricchetti insisted that many members of Congress still supported the president, Aguilar pushed back: &#8220;Steve, has anyone walked into the Oval and told him we could lose everything?&#8221; Ricchetti admitted no one had.
According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/08/us/politics/biden-aides-election-age.html">The Times</a>, the situation was so dire that reliable Democratic strongholds, including Virginia, Minnesota, and New Mexico, suddenly became competitive – a devastating development that Biden&#8217;s inner circle concealed from him.
When former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) met privately with Biden at the White House during this crisis period, she grew frustrated by his insistence that polling showed no real change since the debate.
At one point, Biden called his longtime adviser, Mike Donilon, to refute Pelosi&#8217;s claim that polls showed he would lose to Trump. Donilon got on the line and reportedly contradicted Pelosi&#8217;s assessment.
Campaign adviser Adrienne Elrod was so concerned that Biden wasn&#8217;t getting an accurate assessment that she contacted &#8220;Morning Joe&#8221; hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, knowing the president watched their show on MSNBC every morning.
Days before Biden dropped out, Scarborough aired these concerns, saying, &#8220;The anger I hear are the people who are keeping him in a bubble.&#8221;
Even when confronted directly by donors at a Hamptons fundraiser who challenged him on his debate performance, Biden dismissed concerns as &#8220;one bad night&#8221; and vowed to stay in the race. His closest aides brushed off the concerns as typical donor anxiety.
The controversy over Biden&#8217;s isolation mirrors similar concerns that arose during his presidency, when critics frequently questioned whether his staff was shielding him from unscripted interactions with the press and public.
Throughout his term, the White House faced persistent accusations that Biden&#8217;s handlers were deliberately limiting his exposure to mask cognitive decline – allegations his team consistently dismissed as partisan attacks despite mounting video evidence of verbal stumbles and confusion during public appearances.

There was horrifying news over the weekend, and as you would expect, both the Democrats and their lapdogs in the media attempted to unfairly blame the Trump administration.
Deadly floods struck across Texas on July 4, and at least 90 people are feared dead as a result. The majority of those deaths, including at least 28 children, occurred in Kerr County.
This isn&#8217;t a rarity. Unfortunately, in these parts of Texas, there have been situations like this before. According to Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, the river rose 26 feet in 45 minutes, which is a shocking, shocking increase — and it happened in the middle of the night.

President Trump put out <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114806881411557795">a statement</a> saying that he had signed a major disaster declaration for Kern County to ensure responders would immediately have the resources they need:
<blockquote>These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost and many still missing.</blockquote>
Despite the fact that the Trump administration was working closely with state and local leaders in the wake of the tragedy, it didn’t stop the media from immediately spinning out a lie.
Whenever there is a terrible situation that occurs in the United States, the first move is to try to find the person to blame politically. Sometimes that&#8217;s justified. Sometimes it turns out that there could have been measures that were taken on a state or local level that could have prevented these things.
But notice how the media immediately turned to the national government as the source of the problem as soon as a Republican is in power.
Remember when there were those massive wildfires earlier this year in Southern California that ate up a huge percentage of the acreage? A lot of the blame fell on local leadership as well as on California Governor Gavin Newsom. That was putting the blame where it probably ought to lie, if you&#8217;re going to make public policy decisions. That’s because you&#8217;re talking about natural disasters, the first line of defense is the local government, and then the state government.
During the Lahaina fires in Hawaii, the first line of blame never went to Joe Biden. It always went to the governor of the state or the local leadership in Maui, which was appropriate.
But as soon as a Republican is the president, immediately the media spins it as the president’s fault. We&#8217;ve seen this for decades.

During Hurricane Katrina, the entire media decided that despite the fact that the New Orleans flooding was the fault of the state and local leadership, and the poor response was the fault of the state and local leadership, it was the responsibility of George W. Bush and FEMA&#8217;s failures that led to the problems.
The media are trying to do the same thing this time. They&#8217;re blaming President Trump for the deaths in Kerr County by suggesting that DOGE cuts to the National Weather Service were somehow responsible for all of this.
George Stephanopoulos, Mr. Clintonista, a Clinton apparatchik from back in the 1990s who is now perceived supposedly as an objective, neutral news anchor on ABC&#8217;s “This Week,” had <a href="https://x.com/BrentHBaker/status/1941867108624699499">this to say</a>: 
<blockquote>We’re also learning that there were significant staffing shortfalls in the National Weather Service&#8217;s offices in the region.</blockquote>
Al Sharpton, who, of course, is a clown, was on MSNBC claiming that all of this was happening because Trump was making cuts to FEMA and to the National Weather Service, saying: 
<blockquote>The incident comes as the Trump administration is making deep cuts to weather forecasting services and openly discussing shifting more of the burden for disaster recovery from FEMA to state governments.</blockquote>
Sharpton said this as Hakeem Jeffries, the House minority leader, nodded along.
Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of Meidas Touch <a href="https://x.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1941456923263631811">wrote on X</a>: 
<blockquote>When experts warned for months that the NDS ‘is being destroyed’ by rump’s personnel cuts, Howard Lutnick assured Congress that forecasting won’t be affected. Now TX officials are blaming a faulty forecast by NWS for the deadly impact of the storm.</blockquote>
There&#8217;s a big problem with this. It’s not true.
Kristina Dahl, Vice-President for Science at Climate Central, <a href="https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/cnr/date/2025-07-06/segment/19">told CNN</a>:
<blockquote>It&#8217;s clear that &#8230; many, many people did not see those warnings, did not have any chance to respond to them to get to safety before the waters rose, because they were rising so, so quickly. And so obviously there&#8217;s a need to investigate what happened and where that communications breakdown happened. But to be clear, the National Weather Service did its job in warning first to a large area to say there is flood risk in this area, and then over time, as the risk became clearer and clearer, they kind of refined those warnings and issued updates. But obviously the loss of life here really indicates how unprepared we are as a nation for disasters of this scale.</blockquote>
She is saying that the National Weather Service did its job.
Tragedy occurs in life. That’s reality. Not every tragedy is preventable. You do the best that you can.
There are no indicators, none, that DOGE cuts led to the failure of a federal response. This is an excuse by the media to attack the Trump administration.
According to Wired — which is definitely not a Trump outlet:
<blockquote>Meteorologists who spoke to Wired say that the NWS accurately predicted the risk of flooding in Texas and could not have foreseen the extreme severity of the storm. What&#8217;s more, they say that what the NWS did forecast this week underscores the need to sustain funding to the crucial agency.</blockquote>
The staffing levels were not just fine, they were actually larger than normal. The National Weather Service office in Austin, San Antonio, was staffed with five meteorologists throughout the storms on Thursday and Friday, according to NWS meteorologist Jason Runyan.
They usually have two when the weather is clear.

The Department of Homeland Security put out its <a href="https://x.com/DHSgov/status/1942282490653335622">own thread</a>, which stated:
<blockquote>The mainstream media is deliberately lying about the events leading up to the catastrophic flooding in Texas. The National Weather Service executed timely, precise forecasting and warnings, despite unprecedented rainfall overwhelming the region. Here is the timeline of NWS’s proactive response: 
Morning, July 3rd: NWS Austin/San Antonio conducts forecast briefings for emergency management, flagging flash flood risks. Morning, July 3rd: National Water Center issues Flood Hazard Outlook, identifying flash flood potential for Kerrville and surrounding areas. 1:18 PM, July 3rd: NWS issues Flood Watch for Kerr County, effective through Friday morning. 6:10 PM, July 3rd: Weather Prediction Center issues first of three Mesoscale Precipitation Discussions, warning of excessive rainfall and flash flood potential. 6:22 PM, July 3rd: National Water Center warns of considerable flooding risks north and west of San Antonio, including Kerrville. 11:41 PM, July 3rd: First Flash Flood Warning issued for Bandera County.
1:14 AM, July 4th: Flash Flood Warning with “Considerable” tag issued for Bandera and Kerr Counties, triggering Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) and NOAA Weather Radio notifications. 4:03 AM, July 4th: Flash Flood Warning upgraded to Flash Flood Emergency for south-central Kerr County, including Hunt. 4:35 AM, July 4th: Kerr County Sheriff’s Office reports flooding at low water crossings, 201 minutes (over 3 hours) after the 1:14 AM warning. 5:00 AM, July 4th: National Water Center warns of widespread considerable and catastrophic flooding. 5:34 AM, July 4th: Flash Flood Emergency issued for the Guadalupe River, signaling a “large and deadly flood wave.”
The National Weather Service provided over 12 hours of advance notice via the Flood Watch and over 3 hours of lead time for Flash Flood Warnings, with escalated alerts as the storm intensified.</blockquote>
This is a manufactured scandal out of whole cloth. But it shows you the tremendous, tremendous animus so many members of the media and the Democrats have for the Trump administration.
This pattern has been continuous throughout my lifetime. When there is a Republican president and there is a natural disaster, the immediate response is to blame the Republican president. When there&#8217;s a Democratic president and a natural disaster, the immediate response is to try to shift the blame to climate change, something that is utterly uncontrollable by mankind.
That is always the goal, always and forever.
The media and the Democrats are dishonest hacks.
And that’s putting it mildly.

The legacy media have stonewalled letting President Trump have the win he deserves for his strike on the Iranian nuclear facilities. What President Trump did in Iran is one of the most historic wins of my lifetime.
Just to recap, Israel launched an overwhelming aerial assault on the Iranian facilities, nuclear and missile-based. They were going after ballistic missile development factories in Iran — their ballistic missile stockpiles, their missile launchers — as well as their nuclear facilities.
For nearly two weeks, Israel hammered the Iranians. But there was one facility in particular, Fordo, which was some 250-300 meters underground. And Israel did not have the ordnance capable of penetrating that facility. So President Trump authorized a B-2 strike using 30,000 pound bombs on Fordow, and in his words, “obliterated” the site.
The media won&#8217;t let that be the case, that President Trump used force to end the Iranian nuclear program and then declared the war over — and it was over.
It was, in fact, a historic win, and a win that we haven&#8217;t seen in American foreign policy in my lifetime: One strike on the Iranian nuclear facilities, a complete reshuffling of the deck in the Middle East with Israel as a regional powerhouse and Iran a supplicant, and no continuous war between Israel and Iran, no hot war continuing.
With no American casualties, by the way.
An amazing accomplishment.
But the media just won&#8217;t let President Trump have it. They won&#8217;t. They keep claiming over and over and over that, actually, maybe Fordo wasn&#8217;t destroyed. In fact, Fordo is fine. Maybe the Israeli-American effort was completely for naught, they claim.

They have no basis upon which to say this, other than the word of Ayatollah Khamenei, who has been tweeting that everything is hunky dory from his bunker, presumably in Tehran, <a href="https://x.com/khamenei_ir/status/1938180907887698222">claiming</a> with astonishing chutzpah: 
<blockquote>With all that commotion and all those claims, the Zionist regime was practically knocked out and crushed under the blows of the Islamic Republic.</blockquote>
You have to be high on drugs to believe this. He was literally hiding in a bunker for the entirety of the war. His regime was so weak that the Israeli Air Force was flying continuous sorties unhindered over Iranian airspace, with zero casualties on the IAF side, zero, for two weeks.
And yet <a href="https://x.com/khamenei_ir/status/1938184845873844536">he says</a> that, in reality, the “Zionist regime,” Israel, was practically knocked out and crushed:
<blockquote>My congratulations on our dear Iran’s victory over the US regime. The US regime entered the war directly because it felt that if it didn’t, the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed. It entered the war in an effort to save that regime but achieved nothing.</blockquote>
The Baghdad Bob aspect in the Middle East is always absurd to Westerners. Ayatollah Khomeini trying to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, at least in terms of public perception, does not mean that he was not, in fact, hammered or that the nuclear program is intact.
But Khamenei <a href="https://x.com/khamenei_ir/status/1938185956793761808">tweeted out:</a>
<blockquote>The Islamic Republic delivered a heavy slap to the US’s face. It attacked and inflicted damage on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which is one of the key US bases in the region.</blockquote>
Nope. Actually, he called and he whined and begged the Qataris and the Americans to allow him to send a few missiles at the base, none of which actually hit.
Why am I telling you what Khamenei is saying? Because you&#8217;re hearing it echoed by the media. The New York Times and CNN reported that there was a Defense Intelligence Agency estimate that Fordo had not been knocked out, not been obliterated, not even been severely damaged.
It turned out that that was a low-confidence assessment by one of 18 intelligence agencies under the DIA. It didn’t matter. The media ran with it anyway. This became the top story in the media.

How do we know that it&#8217;s stupid? According to the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/26/world/middleeast/centrifuges-fordo-damage-iran.html">UN nuclear watchdog</a> head, the director general of the IAEA, there was “no escaping significant physical damage after the U.S. strike on the Iranian facility.” Barak Ravid of Axios, a front man for Left-wing and isolationist agitprop coming out from various leak-driven parts of various administrations, <a href="https://x.com/BarakRavid/status/1938229914244682140">tweeted</a>, “I told Jake Tapper that a senior Israeli intelligence official told me that other than the word ‘obliterated’ the reality regarding the results of the attack on Iran is much closer to where Trump says it is than to where the initial DIA report said it was.”
All of this came to a head yesterday when Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth did a press conference. He crushed the fake news that&#8217;s been targeting President Trump, declaring:
<blockquote>Because you cheer against Trump so hard — it&#8217;s like in your DNA and in your blood to cheer against Trump because you want him not to be successful so bad — you have to cheer against the efficacy of these strikes. You have to hope maybe they weren&#8217;t effective. Maybe the way the Trump administration represented them isn&#8217;t true. So let&#8217;s take half-truths, spun information, leaked information, and then spin it. Spin it in every way we can to try to cause doubt and manipulate the public mind over whether or not our brave pilots were successful.
This was an historically successful attack. We should celebrate it as Americans, and it gives us a chance to have peace, a chance to have a deal and an opportunity to prevent a nuclear Iran, which is something President Trump talked about for 20 years.</blockquote>
He was correct.
Hegseth wasn’t done. He called on Jennifer Griffin of Fox News, who&#8217;d been one of the people who reported this particular DIA assessment.
<blockquote>Griffin: Do you have certainty that all the highly enriched uranium was inside the Fordo mountain, or some of it, because there were satellite photos that showed more than a dozen trucks there two days in advance. Are you certain none of that highly enriched uranium was moved?</blockquote>
<blockquote>Hegseth: Of course, we&#8217;re watching every single aspect. But, Jennifer, you&#8217;ve been about the worst, the one who misrepresents the most intentionally what the president says.
Griffin: I was reporting about the ventilation shafts on Saturday night. And in fact, I was the first to describe the B-2 bombers, the refueling, the entire mission with great accuracy. So I take issue with that.
Hegseth: I appreciate you acknowledging that this was the most successful mission, based on operational security, that this department has done since you&#8217;ve been here. I appreciate that. So, we&#8217;re looking at all aspects of intelligence and making sure we have a sense of what was what.</blockquote>
Hegseth got feisty with the media, and a lot of it was deserved. Some of the questions he was asked were absolutely ridiculous. He was asked by a reporter about the fact that he had suggested that it was “brave boys” who flew the plane when one of the people in the plane was a woman, and here was his response:
<blockquote>So when I say something like our boys and bombers, see, this is the kind of thing the press does, right? Of course. The chairman mentioned a female bomber pilot. That&#8217;s fantastic. She&#8217;s fantastic. She&#8217;s a hero. I want more female bomber pilots. I hope the men and women of our country sign up to do such brave and audacious things.
But when you spin it as, because I say “our boys,” — and bombers is a common phrase — I&#8217;ll keep saying things like that, whether they&#8217;re men or women. Very proud of that female pilot. Just like I&#8217;m very proud of those male pilots. And I don&#8217;t care if it&#8217;s a male or a female in that cockpit, and the American people don&#8217;t care. But it&#8217;s the obsession with race and gender in this department that&#8217;s changed priorities. And we don&#8217;t do that anymore. We don&#8217;t play your little games.</blockquote>
You could see how deeply, deeply annoyed Hegseth was along with the entire administration, having to explain that when you drop 12 bunker-busters on an Iranian nuclear site and destroy their nuclear facilities — or at the very least render them completely inoperable — and then the media lie about it and seek any speck of information to discredit that — it is deeply annoying.
And it should be deeply annoying. The media refuse to give President Trump the win he deeply deserves.
Simply put, they are trash.

After CNN, The New York Times, and other legacy media outlets tried to torpedo the success of President Donald Trump’s strike on the Iranian nuclear facilities, quoting a leak claiming the strike only set Iran&#8217;s nuclear program back by months, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth slammed the leakers, calling them “professional stabbers” and revealing an investigation is already underway.
“The US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities last weekend did not destroy the core components of the country’s nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, according to an early US intelligence assessment that was described by seven people briefed on it,” CNN <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/24/politics/intel-assessment-us-strikes-iran-nuclear-sites">declared.</a> “Intel Report on Iran Upends Victory Lap Trump Was Hoping for at NATO,” the Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/us/politics/trump-nato-iran.html">trumpeted</a>.
Speaking while seated with Hegseth and President Trump at the NATO summit in The Hague, Netherlands, Rubio began by attacking the leakers, saying, “First of all, all of this stuff about the intelligence: This is what a leaker is telling you the intelligence said. That’s the game these people play; they read it and then they go out and characterize it the way they want to characterize, and they’re leakers. This is the game they play. So that’s number one.”
He segued to the results of the attack: “ Number two: the conversion facility — which you can’t do a nuclear weapon without a conversion facility — we can’t even find where it is, where it used to be on the map. You can’t even find where it used to be because the whole thing is just blackened out. It&#8217;s gone.”
“It&#8217;s wiped out,” Trump interjected.
“It&#8217;s wiped out,” Rubio repeated. “Then we dropped 12 of the strongest bombs on the planet right down the hole in two places. Everything underneath that mountain is in bad shape. And I refer you to the statement of the IAEA, Mr. Grossi. You know what he said? He said there was Iran the way it looked the day before the attack, and what their nuclear program looks like now. Two very different things. They are way behind where they were just seven days ago.”
“Now, anything in the world can be rebuilt, but now we know where it is, and if they try to rebuild it, we’ll have options there as well,” Rubio asserted. “But all of this leaker stuff; these leakers are professional stabbers. That’s what they are. They go out and they read this stuff and then tell you what it says — against the law — but they characterize it for you in a way that’s absolutely false. There’s no way Iran comes to the table if somehow nothing had happened: This was complete and total obliteration. They’re in bad shape. They are way behind today compared to where they were just seven days ago because of what the president did.”

“When you talk to people who built the bombs, understand what those bombs can do, and deliver those bombs, they landed precisely where they were supposed to,” Hegseth said. “It was a flawless mission. Right down where we knew they needed to enter. Given the 30,000 pounds of explosives, the capabilities of those munitions, it was devastation underneath Fordo. And the amount of munitions, six per location,  any assessment that tells you something otherwise is speculating with other motives. And we know that because when you actually look at the report — by the way, it was a top-secret report — it was preliminary; it was low-confidence, you make assessments based on what you know — ”
“And it said it could be very devastating, very serious —” Trump pointed out.
“Moderate to severe, and we believe far more likely severe and obliterated,” Hegseth echoed.
“Is there a leak investigation?” a reporter asked.
“Of course,” Hegseth replied. “We’re doing a leak investigation with the FBI right now, because this information is for internal purposes, battle-damage assessments. And CNN and others are trying to spin it to make the president look bad when this is an overwhelming success.”

Pressed by a reporter to publicly reveal his plans regarding a possible American strike on the Iranian nuclear facilities, President Donald Trump cracked up people around him on Wednesday morning with a response lacerating the media’s self-absorbed attitude toward matters of national security.
“You haven’t answered questions about whether you are moving closer or you believe the U.S. is moving closer to striking Iranian nuclear facilities. Where is your mindset on that?” a reporter asked.
“I can’t say that, right? You don’t seriously think I’m going to answer that question,” Trump fired back. He turned to the men behind him who were at the White House to install new flagpoles, asking rhetorically, “Will you strike the Iranian nuclear component and what time exactly, sir? Sir, when you strike it, will you please inform us so we can be there and watch?” Trump&#8217;s sarcastic response evoked laughter.
He turned back to the reporter. “I mean, you don’t know that I’m even gonna do it,” he declared. “You don’t know; I may do it; I may not do it. Nobody knows what I&#8217;m going to do.” Then he adopted. more serious tone, saying, “I can tell you this: Iran&#8217;s got a lot of trouble, and they want to negotiate. And I said, ‘Why didn’t you negotiate with me before?’ All this death and destruction. I said to people, ‘Why didn’t you negotiate with me two weeks ago? You could have done fine. You could have had a country.’”
“It&#8217;s very sad to watch this; I’ve never seen anything like it,” he remarked. “You know, everyone thought it was going to be the reverse. I didn’t think so. And I was telling them, you gotta do something; you gotta negotiate. And at the end, last minute, they said, ‘No, we’re not gonna do that.’ And then they got hit.”
“Remember 60 days?” he recalled of his ultimatum that Iran had 60 days to negotiate a deal with the U.S. “And then came — 61’s going to become a very famous number. That was one hell of a hit, that first hit. That was one hell of a hit.”
He spoke of the Iranian regime’s intransigence, saying, “Not sustainable, to be honest,” adding, “It ended on the first night.”

The Legacy Media and the Left (but we repeat ourselves) declared war on “Harry Potter” author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jk-rowling">J.K. Rowling</a> in 2019 after she questioned elements of the trans agenda.
Rowling, a certified progressive on cultural and political matters, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/5-years-ago-j-k-rowling-took-a-stand-against-trans-activists-she-hasnt-backed-down">refused to rubber stamp every aspect of the movement</a>.
<blockquote>Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?</blockquote>
For that, she was canceled in every way possible, over and again.
<a href="https://thehill.com/video/jk-rowling-speaks-out-on-death-threats-from-pro-trans-activists-rape-murder-and-violence/10265832/">Some attempts proved literal.</a> She was the queen of the TERFS to the Left — Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists.
Now, nearly six years later, she’s emerged as a leading voice for sanity in the trans arena. She repeatedly speaks her mind on X, fights back against her legion of critics and is a key player behind one of the most anticipated streaming shows of our time.
HBO Max&#8217;s new <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/06/harry-potter-tv-series-max-release-date-cast-1235323284/">“Harry Potter” series,</a> due in either late 2026 or 2027, will retell the seven-book series captured in the epic eight-part film saga.
The battle rages on all the same, and she refuses to apologize. Still.
She’s blasted <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jk-rowling-calls-out-trans-activist-creep-over-womens-bathroom-selfies">a “creepy” trans activist</a> for bathroom selfies, slammed attempts to conflate the Pope’s name with an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jk-rowling-says-shes-found-the-most-bat-s-gender-identity-argument-yet">absurd trans argument</a> and stated the obvious when it comes to casting the new “Potter” series.
She responded to a journalist’s provocative narrative suggesting she wouldn’t hire an actor who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jk-rowling-said-she-wouldnt-fire-actor-from-harry-potter-series-for-being-pro-trans">disagreed with her trans issues</a>.
<blockquote>I don’t have the power to sack an actor from the series and I wouldn’t exercise it if I did … I don’t believe in taking away people’s jobs or livelihoods because they hold legally protected beliefs that differ from mine.</blockquote>
That likely would have been a staunchly liberal stance 20 years ago. Those comments sound positively conservative in 2025, even though Rowling has never identified herself as conservative.
Either way, it’s refreshing to see an author embrace free speech.

Actors linked to the “Harry Potter” universe, either the existing films or the future TV show, are continually asked about Rowling’s views on trans issues. The media remains obsessed with Rowling’s willingness to speak her mind and share views considered mainstream by many.
Future “Harry Potter” star Nick Frost – he is tentatively set to play Hagrid in the TV series – blazed a <a href="https://variety.com/2025/tv/global/harry-potter-nick-frost-jk-rowling-trans-views-dont-align-1236423365/">mature path on the matter</a>.
<blockquote>She’s allowed her opinion and I’m allowed mine, they just don’t align in any way, shape or form.</blockquote>
Translation: A gig’s a gig, most likely. Frost still suggested in the same interview we need to “educate ourselves” on trans issues. The sight of too many trans female athletes dominating biological females may be all the learning we need, Hagrid 2.0.
Tom Felton, who played the wicked Draco Malfoy in the original films, sidestepped a leading question on the red carpet while throwing his support behind Rowling. He’s co-starring in a Broadway adaption of Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”
He didn’t share his stance on trans issues with the scribe. He simply praised an author who made his <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2025/06/09/tom-felton-jk-rowling-broadway-harry-potter/84111570007/">career shine impossibly brighter</a>.
<blockquote>The only thing I always remind myself is that I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world. Here I am in New York … and I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter, and she’s responsible for that. So I’m incredibly grateful.</blockquote>
Compare that to the verbal brickbats thrown by the original Harry Potter and Hermione, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, at Rowling over her trans views.

Here’s the former Harry Potter <a href="https://ew.com/daniel-radcliffe-j-k-rowlings-anti-trans-rhetoric-really-sad-8641559">taking her to task for her views</a>.
<blockquote>It makes me really sad, ultimately … I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote, and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic.</blockquote>
HBO Max has had Rowling’s back for some time. The streamer also sees a shifting cultural landscape. The Warner Bros. Discovery platform might have chafed at joining forces with Rowling four or five years ago.
That was before Riley Gaines struck endless blows on behalf of biological women and Matt Walsh’s groundbreaking documentary “What Is a Woman?” had yet to be released.
Remember the tiny role Rowling played in the 2022 “Harry Potter” reunion special on HBO Max? Rowling said she <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/jk-rowling-harry-potter-anniversary-special-absence-explained-1235352807/">declined an invitation to appear</a>, but her archival footage proved brief and perfunctory.
Surely there’s countless footage of the author exploring the magical universe that transported countless children while teaching them to love reading?
Now, the streamer is desperate to stay in her good graces and wring every eyeball possible from the upcoming series. <a href="https://www.mensjournal.com/entertainment/hbo-makes-decision-on-relationship-with-j-k-rowling">HBO CEO Casey Bloys</a> made that obvious earlier this year.
<blockquote>It’s pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She’s entitled to them. ‘Harry Potter’ is not secretly being infused with anything. And if you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter.</blockquote>
Rowling never wavered through it all. One could argue she has enough money to ignore Cancel Culture and the media, but others with very deep pockets bowed to the progressive mob in short order.
Take Stephen King. The <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7936237/Stephen-King-apologizes-controversial-tweets-diversity-Oscars.html">horror maestro backpedaled</a> when progressives attacked him for suggesting merit matters more in the arts than diversity box checking. He even penned a mewling apology/essay in The Washington Post to keep the Cancel Culture mob at bay.
Scarlett Johansson, arguably the most popular actress in the country, similarly did the Hostage Apology routine after <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/scarlett-johansson-says-she-mishandled-transgender-casting-controversy-n1092131">she briefly accepted a gig playing a trans person</a>. That film, “Rub and Tug,” never got made sans the actress’ clout and star power.
Rowling has stayed true to her beliefs and has only grown bolder since the 2019 dustup. She trusted “Harry Potter” fans, or enough of them at least, would have her back.
She was right.
