When I got my first tattoo at 20, my dad offered me $1,000 to wait a year before getting it. Obviously I did the rock ‘n’ roll thing and screamed, “You can’t control my life, Dad!”
Not actually. But after two days of pondering how much I could use the money, I decided to turn down his proposal and get the small $100 flower tattoo on my ankle.
Almost two years later, my boyfriend at the time broke up with me because of it.
“It’s like putting a bumper sticker on a Bentley,” he told me.
“So you think I’m a Bentley?” I said.
There’s a stereotype that liberals are the cool, artsy ones making the indie movies and writing the good music while conservatives are the cargo short-wearing, blue-collar men and stoic “trad wife” women. Yet, as conservatives slowly get their footing back in the culture as the rebellious cool kids who hold to tradition, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/you-should-never-take-up-smoking-unless-you-want-to-look-really-cool" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.dailywire.com/news/you-should-never-take-up-smoking-unless-you-want-to-look-really-cool&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3VeFPDFQEfyFd-3oQ46uqv">smoke cigarettes</a>, and<a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/01/william-f-buckley-jr-ivy-league-look/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/01/william-f-buckley-jr-ivy-league-look/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0Ley14kazx4jlEYTHOK5kO"> wear double-breasted suits</a>, there’s one more ingredient needed to ensure that conservatives take back the culture in a defiant American way: tattoos.
Tattoos have always had a stigma. I mean, the Greek root of “stigma” <a href="https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stigma" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stigma&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0PUbtpi8AXW5FHFEVwSEAy">comes from</a> the word “stizein,” meaning “tattoo” or “to prick.” Modern tattoos have been a symbol of <a href="https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/mar.20727?utm" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/mar.20727?utm&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2QoQZKeXem6Aft1QM_dX3h">rebellion</a> and counterculture due to the social outcasts who helped mobilize their popularity. Gang members, jail inmates, skater bros, and musicians wore tattoos <a href="https://www.encyclopedia.com/children/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/tattoos-and-piercing?" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.encyclopedia.com/children/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/tattoos-and-piercing?&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1_XHBJ5xXRdCgGytvpMgO8">starting in the &#8217;60s</a> as a middle finger to mainstream values.
The hippie movement helped the American youth view tattoos as a sign of self-expression and identity. Yet, tattoos delayed hitting the mainstream until the &#8217;80s since they still signified that you were more likely to end up in a jail cell than a church pew.
Thanks to <a href="https://www.encyclopedia.com/children/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/tattoos-and-piercing?" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.encyclopedia.com/children/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/tattoos-and-piercing?&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1_XHBJ5xXRdCgGytvpMgO8">Music Television (MTV) and the AIDS epidemic</a>, businesses heavily advertised the cleanliness of their equipment to help combat the fear of HIV. Marketing strategies paired with the counterculture body art <a href="https://medium.com/@itsrosiesaunders/the-1980s-were-all-about-tribal-blackwork-single-needle-tattoos-and-the-emergence-of-new-a74cdb363cd1" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://medium.com/@itsrosiesaunders/the-1980s-were-all-about-tribal-blackwork-single-needle-tattoos-and-the-emergence-of-new-a74cdb363cd1&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3F6T-VlKPh2WsWiwk-Jb_R">displayed on MTV</a> allowed the youth to see how they could get tattoos and be just like their heroes. The tatted stars were punk. They were cool. And they were not going to be told by culture what to do. Sound familiar to conservative politics today?
Adherents to the clean “<a href="https://www.michigandaily.com/opinion/columns/the-politics-of-aesthetics-how-american-fashion-shifted-right/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.michigandaily.com/opinion/columns/the-politics-of-aesthetics-how-american-fashion-shifted-right/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2KgrARDVofdlu9oprwWH9B">old-money</a>” conservative aesthetic that prioritizes self-control, structure, and modesty are inherently less inclined to get inked. The Christian interpretation of applying Leviticus 19:28 to modern-day tattoos as sinful and pagan also made them taboo for many conservatives. No Baptist preacher wanted his daughter coming home with a tatted boyfriend because there was probably a motorcycle in the driveway and a felony on his record, making him a satanist.
In the year of our Lord 2026, conservatives have become more tender-hearted to body art. &#8220;Tattoos aren’t conservative. But they might be Republican,&#8221; writer Natalie Sandoval <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2025/06/17/tattoos-poll-democrats-republicans-pete-hegseth-lauren-boebert-cory-mills/">declared</a> in the Daily Caller last year. &#8220;A new YouGov survey reveals tattoos are more common among Republicans than Democrats.&#8221; There’s even an increased social acceptance as tattoos become more common in <a href="https://www.oklahoman.com/story/business/columns/2013/08/24/company-bans-are-fading-on-employee-body-ink/60888092007/?gnt-cfr=1&amp;gca-cat=p&amp;gca-uir=false&amp;gca-epti=z1128xxe1128xxv000030&amp;gca-ft=162&amp;gca-ds=sophi" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.oklahoman.com/story/business/columns/2013/08/24/company-bans-are-fading-on-employee-body-ink/60888092007/?gnt-cfr%3D1%26gca-cat%3Dp%26gca-uir%3Dfalse%26gca-epti%3Dz1128xxe1128xxv000030%26gca-ft%3D162%26gca-ds%3Dsophi&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0S3B5AOMwZxmudU4_JMDTq">corporate jobs</a> where management is less stingy about hiring someone with a tattoo.
Yet, some stereotypes still hold. If you see someone in their 20s today with patchwork tattoos sprinkled across their arm, chances are pretty high they vote blue in every election and have pronouns in their Instagram bio.
As the Left loses its grip on culture through extreme ideological stances on abortion, LGBTQ issues, and socialism, the pendulum is starting to swing back to the Right side. Conservatives are the new rebels, rejecting abortion, political cynicism, and racial grievance and instead embracing families, patriotism, and true equality. The question is: Can we keep the momentum?
While the tradwife trend promotes the conservative civic duty to dress well through natural, God-given means, the MAGA-coded <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/how-the-conservative-era-will-change-beauty-standards" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.vogue.com/article/how-the-conservative-era-will-change-beauty-standards&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786726234237000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3CZwqJIqIkaCouDkcQcECh">lip filler, overdone makeup, and ultra-traditional skirt suits</a> aren’t going to sway the majority of the population into believing that conservatives and their ideas are cool.
The cottage-core and corporate aesthetics don&#8217;t appeal to everyone, and conservatives should embrace their role as the ones shaking up the status quo. What better way to mobilize the movement than having cool tattoos coupled with great ideas? A traditional message through bipartisan modern means.
Following in the footsteps of <a href="https://news.meaww.com/8-us-politicians-who-have-tattoos-from-sarah-palin-to-john-fetterman" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://news.meaww.com/8-us-politicians-who-have-tattoos-from-sarah-palin-to-john-fetterman&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1786729509141000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2ZxQDtkac15zTd_cH9ktnz">tatted</a> Republicans such as Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert and U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth might help strengthen conservative leadership. Hegseth’s &#8220;We the People&#8221; tattoo gained him a lot of respect from my family. And his Jerusalem cross tattoo had progressives positively <a href="https://www.catholicleague.org/hegseths-christian-tattoo-is-meritorious/">losing</a> their minds. There&#8217;s a reason people still <a href="https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2024/09/30/which-party-has-cornered-the-tattoo-vote">suggest</a> President Theodore Roosevelt had a tattoo, and the reason is it makes the outdoorsman sound pretty cool.
It’s not enough to hold the line on conservative values of individual responsibility, limited government, patriotism, and family through talking heads, old campaign strategies, and hot blonde women. We’ve got to do it in style to vindicate the rebellious spirit that started this country. One tattoo at a time. It’s what the Founding Fathers would want.

President Donald Trump threatened to support a primary challenge against Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) after she hit the campaign trail to support embattled Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie. 
In Saturday night Truth Social posts, Trump railed against Republicans backing Massie for &#8220;parading around like fools,&#8221; calling Boebert &#8220;weak-minded.&#8221;
“Boebert is campaigning for the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the History of our Country, Thomas Massie, of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky, and anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!” <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116586609402311469">Trump said.</a>  “Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement and endorse a good and proper alternative,” he said.
&#8220;Yes, I saw the President’s post. No, I’m not mad or offended. I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie. I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA,&#8221; Boebert said in response.
Before Trump’s threat, the Colorado Republican attempted to thread the needle between her support for both Massie and Trump. 
&#8220;Below is my friend Thomas Massie. He loves America and is fighting to save it. Also below is my friend and President, Donald Trump. He’s put his life on the line to save this great country. I support both of these men. I’ve worked with both to preserve freedom and liberty,&#8221; Boebert posted on social media. &#8220;And if that makes you angry, bless your heart.&#8221; 
The filing deadline has passed for new candidates to enter the race, and neither of Boebert&#8217;s initial primary challengers qualified for the ballot, so she is running unopposed.
Massie, long a thorn in the side of Trump, is currently facing the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/thomas-massie-is-a-political-survivor-but-this-time-might-be-different?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=9&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Thomas+Massie+Is+A+Political+Survivor+%E2%80%94+But+This+Time+Might+Be+Different">toughest challenge of his political career</a> in the most expensive U.S. House primary of all time.
The Kentucky Republican has emerged as a vocal critic of the administration’s handling of the Epstein files, Iran, and the president’s signature “One Big, Beautiful Bill.”
Now, Trump is throwing the full weight of his political machine behind Massie&#8217;s primary challenger. In January, Trump endorsed Captain Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL and farmer opposing Massie in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District.
&#8220;The man running against Massie, Ed Gallrein, is a true American Patriot, a Farmer from Kentucky, and a Military Hero,&#8221; Trump said in a Saturday night social media post. &#8220;He is loyal, and MAGA all the way — VOTE FOR ED GALLREIN, AND WIPE AWAY THE STENCH OF ONE OF THE WORST CONGRESSMEN IN THE HISTORY OF OUR GREAT PARTY, THOMAS MASSIE. MAY WE NEVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH HIM AGAIN!&#8221;
Conventional political wisdom suggests Massie enters Tuesday’s primary with significant structural advantages. The libertarian-minded fiscal hawk has deep roots in the district, riding the Tea Party wave into Congress in 2012 and remaining politically untouchable ever since.
Yet, Massie’s tendency to break with Trump is alienating segments of the MAGA faithful.
A new Quantus Insights survey shows Gallrein leading Massie 53%-45% among likely Republican primary voters, marking the first public poll to show the Trump-backed challenger ahead.  
Massie is blaming third-party spending in the race for his slippage in the polls. 
“After months of beating around the bush, one reporter finally writes the true story of my race and when asked, the lobbyists brag about it,” Massie said of a Politico story highlighting Pro-Israel spending. “A coalition of Israel’s lobbyists and donors is spending tens of millions of dollars in a blatant attempt to buy a KY congressional seat.&#8221;
The home stretch in Kentucky comes after Louisiana Republicans <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/voters-decide-fate-of-senator-who-voted-to-convict-trump?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Voters+Decide+Fate+Of+Senator+Who+Voted+To+Convict+Trump">voted to oust Sen. Bill Cassidy</a>, rejecting the incumbent who voted to convict President Donald Trump on impeachment charges. Trump also <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-flexes-political-muscle-against-republicans-who-bucked-him-on-redistricting?row=0&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;rowType=Web+Search+Overlay">successfully ousted</a> several state senators in Indiana who voted against redistricting earlier this month.

Trump Threatens Primary Challenge Against Another Republican For Siding With Massie

Republicans in Congress are pushing to approve legal authority for the White House’s privately-backed ballroom project, which is facing a major court challenge.
There was renewed interest and support for the ballroom, including from Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), following the attempted assassination of Trump administration officials at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. A district court judge recently said that Congress needs to <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/04/27/will-congress-back-ballroom-now/">clear a legal path</a> for the project to proceed, according to The Washington Post.
Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) explained Sunday on X that we would push for “unanimous consent” on a proposal that would grant “express approval” for ballroom construction, as it would be built where the East Wing used to be.
“It is an embarrassment to the strongest nation on earth that we cannot host gatherings in our nation’s capital, including ones attended by our President, without the threat of violence and attempted assassinations,” Sheehy said.
“There is no place for political violence in America. Unfortunately, it seems, too many people believe trying to kill our President and members of our government is acceptable,” he added, saying that presidents “should be able to host events in a secure area without attendees worrying about their safety.”
In the House of Representatives, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) posted Sunday that he’s introducing the “Build the Ballroom Act” for “explicit statutory authority” for the ballroom plan.
“While the lawsuits attempting to stop this privately-funded gift to the country are nonsense, last night makes it clear that we need it — and we need it now,” Fine stated. “I look forward to Democrats repudiating their violent rhetoric against President Trump by cosponsoring and supporting this bill.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) also posted that she is drafting a bill to get the project across the finish line.
“I don’t believe congressional approval is required for the project, but if it’ll keep activist judges on the sideline, so be it,” she wrote.
The Justice Department asked the National Trust for Historic Preservation to end its lawsuit after the incident, which left a Secret Service agent shot at the Washington Hilton.
“Enough is enough. Your client should voluntarily dismiss this frivolous lawsuit today in light of last night’s assassination attempt on President Trump,” Brett Shumate, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division, wrote Sunday, saying that he plans to “move to dissolve the injunction and dismiss the case in light of last night’s extraordinary events” if the case was not dropped by Monday at 9 a.m.
The Daily Wire reached out to the group for comment, but they did not immediately respond.
“The White House ballroom will ensure the safety and security of the President for decades to come and prevent future assassination attempts on the President at the Washington Hilton,” he added.
The preservation group argues that there needs to be more input into the project before it begins.
“The National Trust remains committed to honoring the historic significance of the White House, advocating for our collective role as stewards, and demonstrating how broad consultation, including with the American people, results in a better overall outcome,” National Trust President and CEO Carol Quillen said after an April 11 federal circuit court of appeals order in the case that stopped construction.

A law that became the subject of scrutiny following surveillance on 2016 Trump campaign aide Carter Page is up for renewal with an April 20 deadline, and the debate is creating unusual battle lines.
The debate centers on whether reforms should be made to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Section 702, or if there should be a “clean” extension of the law. FISA allows for the federal government to gather foreign intelligence, but some critics have warned that it opens the door for Americans to be spied on in the process.
President Donald Trump is asking for a “clean 18-month” extension of the law, saying that it is an “effective tool to keep Americans safe” when “used properly.” He noted that “whether you like FISA or not, it is extremely important to our Military,” noting it could be useful during the ongoing military operation in Iran.
“HOWEVER, the Critical and Common Sense Reforms that were made in the last Reauthorization of FISA must remain intact to protect the American People from abuses,” Trump posted to <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/2036848808705814789" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Truth Social</a> on March 25.
The president said he “was a victim of the worst and most illegal abuse of FISA in our Nation’s History, by Radical Left Lunatics who lied to the FISA Court to spy on my 2016 Presidential Campaign in their attempt to RIG the Election in favor of Crooked Hillary Clinton.”
In 2024 when President Joe Biden was in office, Trump asked Congress to “KILL FISA” in a <a href="https://reason.com/2026/03/27/trump-backs-section-702-reauthorization-after-once-calling-to-kill-fisa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Truth Social</a> post, saying “IT WAS ILLEGALLY USED AGAINST ME, AND MANY OTHERS.” The FBI ended up issuing an apology in 2020 for how it pursued FISA warrants against Page over alleged Russian connections, as he was never prosecuted.
The House has been in recess, but returns to work this week, when Speaker Mike Johnson plans to raise the renewal.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has said that she wants the SAVE America Act, an election security bill, to be tacked onto the FISA vote, which was a point of contention between her and Johnson, according to <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/03/27/mike-johnson-house-intelligence-fisa-extension-luna-fight" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a>. Even though the SAVE America Act has passed the House, it has struggled to gain the momentum necessary to pass in the Senate.
Meanwhile, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has declared “warrants or bust” in order to get her vote on the legislation, as she wants more barriers in place to review American communications gathered under FISA, according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/03/18/house-section-702-vote-00835291?nid=00000197-a74d-da70-a9ff-a75da4350000&amp;nname=inside-congress&amp;nrid=0000015a-ce98-daa2-a1fa-fefa0dc30000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Politico</a>.
Some congressional Democrats have joined in on the calls for reforms, but their concerns relate to weaponization by the Trump administration.
“Any attempt to push forward a ‘clean’ reauthorization of Section 702 will put our private, sensitive data at risk,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said in a March 19 <a href="https://jayapal.house.gov/2026/03/19/jayapal-statement-on-upcoming-fisa-reauthorization/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>.
“This Trump administration has been particularly brazen in its use of domestic surveillance to suppress our Constitutional rights and dissent,” she added.
However, some Democrats, like Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), have faced left-wing backlash for their decision to support a FISA renewal.
“It is our most important intelligence collection tool … every day it stops terrorist attacks somewhere in the world,” Himes said, according to <a href="https://www.ctpublic.org/news/2026-03-31/protesters-call-on-rep-jim-himes-to-withdraw-support-for-a-federal-surveillance-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Connecticut Public Radio</a> on March 31.
Matthew R.A. Heiman, Chairman of the Cyber &amp; Privacy Working Group of the Regulatory Transparency Project, told The Daily Wire that “to the extent that [FISA] picks up Americans communications, it’s incidental.&#8221;
“Members of both sides, multiple boards and committees, have looked at this tool now for almost 20 years that it has been used, and they consistently find that the tool is really effective in terms of delivering important intelligence, and the misuses of the tool have been largely accidental,” Heiman said.
“And so it&#8217;s not a tool that&#8217;s been heavily abused, or there&#8217;s been malicious intent when there&#8217;s a mistake made,” he said.
“I think the Americans should support renewal of this tool, because it&#8217;s really important for all of our safety,” he continued.

Democrats objected after Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) requested a spoken prayer from the House floor for conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Wednesday while holding an event at a university in Utah. 
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed during an appearance at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. As news of the assassination spread, House Speaker Mike Johnson held a moment of silence in the House for Kirk. After the moment of silence, Boebert asked for a verbal prayer. 
“I believe silent prayer gets silent results,” Boebert said, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/charlie-kirk-shot/card/moment-of-silence-for-charlie-kirk-on-house-floor-then-shouting-tetPbgY959DJRk19U54u">according</a> to the Wall Street Journal.
Boebert’s request was met with yells of opposition from Democrats, including from Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-CT), who yelled about school shootings, the Journal reported. Other Democrats screamed “no.” 
Daily Mail reporter Jon Michael Raasch <a href="https://x.com/jmraasch/status/1965894436409454828?s=46&amp;t=o-U3qwC25WnWaylJ0oeG7Q">described</a> the incident as &#8220;Possibly the ugliest moment I&#8217;ve ever witnessed in politics.&#8221; About three dozen Democrats in total objected to having a spoken prayer, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15086223/democrats-reject-prayers-charlie-kirk-house-shouting.html?ico=authors_pagination_desktop">according</a> to the outlet. “Pass some gun laws!” one yelled. In response, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna yelled back, “You f***ing own this!”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) underwent surgery Tuesday morning after she was admitted to a Colorado hospital and doctors found she had an acute blood clot, her campaign said.
Boebert, 37, was admitted to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado, after she experienced swelling in her leg, according to a <a href="https://www.facebook.com/laurenboebert/posts/pfbid02mzadSWknemesgQEGFZt97nqzduL1Cb89fvYksuEQ4dMnbRn48sKPS7MBUSE9mHHQl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> released on Tuesday by her campaign. Upon undergoing a CT scan, doctors found that Boebert had an acute blood clot and diagnosed her with May-Thurner Syndrome, a <a href="https://www.upmc.com/services/heart-vascular/conditions-treatments/may-thurner-syndrome#:~:text=May%2DThurner%20syndrome%20is%20a%20rare%20vascular%20condition%20that%20affects,leading%20to%20narrowing%20and%20scarring." target="_blank" rel="noopener">rare condition</a> that affects a vein in a person’s pelvis. Doctors completed a successful surgery on Boebert Tuesday morning, removing the blood clot and inserting a stent.

Boebert is currently in a heated GOP primary as she seeks to win the House seat for Colorado’s 4th district. The eldest son of Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lauren-boebert" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lauren Boebert</a> (R-CO) was arrested this week in connection to a string of property thefts and vehicle trespasses, according to police.
The Rifle Police Department said that Tyler Jay Boebert, 18, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon over &#8220;a recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts in Rifle.&#8221;
&#8220;Boebert is facing the following charges: four felony counts of Criminal Possession ID Documents &#8211; Multiple Victims, one felony count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and over 15 additional misdemeanor and petty offenses,&#8221; police said. &#8220;This is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.&#8221;
CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lauren-boebert-son-arrested-tyler/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&amp;linkId=341353928" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that records from the Garfield County Jail showed that Tyler Boebert was being held on 22 charges. Rep. Lauren Boebert&#8217;s (R-CO) ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, was arrested on multiple charges this week stemming from two separate incidents.
Law enforcement officials in Colorado arrested Jayson Boebert on six criminal charges on Tuesday, including third-degree assault, harassment, prohibited use of weapons, obstructing a peace officer, disorderly conduct, trespassing and obstruction of a police officer.
USA Today <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/01/10/lauren-boebert-ex-husband-punch-assault/72172775007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the first set of charges stemmed from an incident that unfolded over the weekend at a restaurant in Lauren Boebert&#8217;s district in which Jayson Boebert called police and alleged that she hit him.
Upon investigation, police <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/police-investigation-clears-lauren-boebert-of-domestic-violence-allegations-from-ex-husband-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> on Wednesday that there was no evidence that Lauren Boebert attacked her ex-husband.
Police said that when they arrived on the scene, Lauren Boebert was “cooperative with law enforcement” during their initial contact with her while her ex-husband “was highly intoxicated, yelling at officers, and was uncooperative with the investigation.”
“Although he claimed he had been punched in the face, officers observed no marks or injury on Jayson Boebert to corroborate he had actually been assaulted,” police said in a statement. “Staff at Miner’s Claim restaurant requested Jayson leave the restaurant due to the level of disturbance he was creating. Officers requested Jayson Boebert to leave the restaurant multiple times; however, he was uncooperative and was physically removed from the restaurant by law enforcement personnel.”

The remaining charges that he faces stemmed from a separate incident that unfolded on Tuesday when police received a call from Tyler Boebert, the former couple&#8217;s oldest son, who &#8220;told a dispatcher that his father had pushed him to the ground, put his hand in his mouth, and thrown his phone across the house,&#8221; Business Insider <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/jayson-boebert-son-911-call-lauren-boebert-many-guns-2024-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. &#8220;When Jayson heard the 911 call, Tyler also said that his dad had grabbed a rifle but he couldn&#8217;t give an exact description since &#8216;there was many firearms in the residence and [he] was unable to say what type of rifle it was.&#8217; Tyler also said during the call that he suspected his father was under the influence of alcohol.&#8221;

Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/lauren-boebert">Lauren Boebert</a> (R-CO) said she would support getting rid of the mechanism by which Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kevin-mccarthy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kevin McCarthy</a> (R-CA) was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mccarthy-ousted-from-speakership-after-democrats-side-with-matt-gaetz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">removed</a> as House speaker — under one condition.
In a <a href="https://twitter.com/laurenboebert/status/1709957401246302501">post</a> to X on Thursday, the congresswoman said she is &#8220;willing to ditch&#8221; the &#8220;motion to vacate&#8221; with Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jim-jordan">Jim Jordan</a> (R-OH) in that position.
&#8220;The House has a lot of work ahead, let’s get this over with and take our country back!&#8221; she added.

The &#8220;motion to vacate the chair&#8221; is a parliamentary tool that has <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/rep-gaetz-threatens-to-oust-speaker-mccarthy-after-deal-averting-government-shutdown#:~:text=The%20rules%20of%20the%20House,twice%20in%20the%20past%20century.">rarely been used</a> throughout the history of the United States.
After lawmakers raised the threshold to require <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mccarthy-motion-to-vacate-rule-speaker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a majority</a> of either party to bring a motion to vacate to the House floor <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/motion-vacate-key-sticking-point-gop-speaker-battle/story?id=96241364">in 2019</a> — as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) began her second stint as speaker — the House rules package <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/motion-vacate-key-sticking-point-gop-speaker-battle/story?id=96241364" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> for this session of Congress restored the ability of a single member to trigger the process.
Rep. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/matt-gaetz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matt Gaetz</a> (R-FL) filed a &#8220;motion to vacate the chair&#8221; this week after the GOP-controlled House passed a short-term spending bill to avert a government shutdown. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mccarthy-fires-back-at-the-8-republicans-who-upended-his-speakership">Eight Republicans</a> joined with Democrats in a <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2023519">216-210</a> vote that ousted McCarthy, who later <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBNgruEBPIo">said</a> he would not run again for the speaker&#8217;s gavel. Boebert voted against removing McCarthy.
House Majority Leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/steve-scalise">Steve Scalise</a> (R-LA) and Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, have announced candidacies for the speakership on the GOP side. Democrats are <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/top-democrat-floats-potential-candidates-for-speaker" target="_blank" rel="noopener">likely to rally</a> behind someone such as Minority Leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/hakeem-jeffries">Hakeem Jeffries</a> (D-NY).

There has also been some chatter about former President Donald Trump taking on the role, as the Constitution <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/29/opinion/kevin-mccarthy-house-speaker-vote.html">does not require</a> a speaker to be a sitting member of the House, even while Trump is running a 2024 campaign for a second term in the White House.
A simple majority is needed to secure victory in a chamber-wide vote. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) is serving as a temporary speaker in the interim.
At least one other House Republican — Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) — said he would not support any candidate until there is a commitment to reform the motion to vacate.
&#8220;The coup against Speaker McCarthy was DESPICABLE &amp; must never happen again. No one can govern effectively while being threatened by fringe hostage takers,&#8221; Gimenez <a href="https://twitter.com/RepCarlos/status/1709611565169725641" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> in a post to X.
Gaetz <a href="https://twitter.com/mattgaetz/status/1709642137480937490">responded with a post</a>, saying, &#8220;So the way moderates want to punish me is by making it harder to remove Speaker Jordan or Speaker Scalise? OH NO! ANYTHING BUT THAT!!!!&#8221;
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-senate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate</a> Minority Leader <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mitch-mcconnell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mitch McConnell</a> (R-KY), in <a href="https://twitter.com/therecount/status/1709642657713000480">comments to reporters</a> on Wednesday, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mcconnell-advises-next-house-speaker-to-get-rid-of-motion-to-vacate">described</a> the &#8220;motion to vacate&#8221; as being unproductive and advised the next speaker to do away with it.
&#8220;It makes the speaker&#8217;s job impossible, and the American people expect us to have a functioning government,&#8221; McConnell said.
