House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said on Tuesday night that the committee plans to question the former corrections officer who searched for information about pedophile Jeffrey Epstein less than an hour before he was found dead in his New York City jail cell on August 10, 2019.
The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/03/07/us-news/prison-guard-googled-jeffrey-epstein-minutes-before-his-body-was-found-and-deposited-thousands-days-before-pedophiles-suicide-doj/">reported</a> last Saturday that former Metropolitan Correctional Center guard Tova Noel googled &#8220;latest on Epstein in jail&#8221; at 5:42 a.m. and again at 5:52 a.m. before Epstein was found dead at 6:30 a.m., according to FBI records. Chase Bank also flagged numerous &#8220;suspicious&#8221; deposits into Noel&#8217;s bank account between April of 2018 and November of 2019, with the largest deposit of $5,000 coming on July 30, 2019, according to the Post, which reviewed DOJ documents.
Noel will now be asked to appear before the committee for an interview, Comer <a href="https://x.com/JesseBWatters/status/2031535459940155536">told</a> Fox News host Jesse Watters.
&#8220;The recent media reports &#8230; [are] very concerning, especially the suspicious activity report on a $5,000 mysterious deposit that she had,&#8221; Comer told Watters. &#8220;And the reason that stands out to me, Jesse, is because very seldom are suspicious activity reports even reported for sums less than $10,000.&#8221;
Noel, who was also accused of falsifying guard shift records the night before Epstein was found dead, is believed to be the last corrections officer to see Epstein alive.
&#8220;So because of this, because of the media reports and because of the fact that, honestly, most people on the committee aren&#8217;t confident 100% that Epstein&#8217;s death was by suicide, we&#8217;re going to ask Ms. Noel to come in for a transcribed interview,&#8221; Comer said. &#8220;Again, no one is accusing her of any wrongdoing, but we have a lot of questions about Epstein.&#8221;
Noel is also believed to be the mysterious blur that was <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jeffrey-epstein-jail-video-investigation/">caught on camera</a> moving near Epstein&#8217;s cell with orange linen the night before he died, according to the Justice Department. Epstein apparently killed himself using extra linen that was in his cell. Noel reportedly told investigators that she &#8220;never gave out linen&#8221; to inmates, since that was always done during the previous shift. She also denied googling Epstein shortly before he was found dead.
DOJ investigators interviewed Noel following Epstein&#8217;s apparent suicide, and her lawyers said she did not have any part in Epstein&#8217;s death. The Justice Department did not ask Noel about the numerous cash deposits that were flagged by Chase as &#8220;suspicious activity,&#8221; the Post reported.
Noel and her fellow guard, Michael Thomas, were accused of falling asleep on the job and admitted to falsifying their reports to cover up for missing checks on Epstein, which they were supposed to conduct every 30 minutes.
Noel and Thomas were arrested and charged in November of 2019, but a federal judge later <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/03/us/jeffrey-epstein-officers-dismissed-charges-judge">dismissed</a> the charges after prosecutors struck a deal in exchange for &#8220;truthful information related to their employment by the Bureau of Prisons.&#8221;

Whoopi Goldberg and her cohosts on ABC&#8217;s &#8220;The View&#8221; suggested during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast that President Donald Trump may have started a war with Iran to keep the American people distracted from the Epstein files and the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case.
Goldberg raised the possibility first, saying it was &#8220;nutty as hell&#8221; that a major military conflict — involving a known bad actor and American interests and allies in the Middle East — was sucking up all the oxygen in the media space and arguing that it was an intentional play to redirect public focus.

The panel then pivoted to claim that the Trump administration viewed members of the military as &#8220;cannon fodder.&#8221;
Cohost Sara Haines said that anyone who waged war should keep the human cost in mind, and Goldberg immediately claimed that the Trump administration did not do that.
&#8220;They don&#8217;t have that feeling, because to them, we&#8217;re cannon fodder,&#8221; she claimed. &#8220;They don&#8217;t care, you know? It&#8217;s how — It&#8217;s why they — it&#8217;s how they also treat our vets. It tells you a lot. You&#8217;ve heard him talk about vets.&#8221;

Five Republicans joined all Democrats in attendance on the GOP-led House Oversight Committee in passing a motion to subpoena U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify on the administration&#8217;s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
Wednesday&#8217;s vote means Bondi could soon be in front of the same committee that grilled former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over their ties to Epstein last week. The motion was proposed by Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina and supported by Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Michael Cloud (R-TX), and Scott Perry (R-PA), along with every Democrat who was present for a 24-19 vote.
&#8220;AG Bondi will testify about missing Epstein evidence. The videos, the audio, the documents the DOJ is hiding,&#8221; Mace <a href="https://x.com/RepNancyMace/status/2029305372813533324">said</a>. &#8220;The American people deserve transparency. Survivors deserve justice. We&#8217;re delivering both. Accountability is coming.&#8221;
It would not be the first time for Bondi to testify under oath about her handling of the Epstein case. The attorney general faced numerous questions from Democrats and Republican Rep. Thomas Massie during a House Judiciary Committee hearing last month. Bondi blasted Democrats&#8217; focus on the Epstein case as a &#8220;circus.&#8221;
Bondi has faced intense scrutiny since she suggested last year that Epstein&#8217;s so-called client list was sitting on her desk, but later clarified that she was referring to a file on the Epstein case, not an actual client list. When the Justice Department closed its investigation into Epstein in July, it said that it found no evidence of a client list.
The Justice Department has also been criticized for its messy rollout of the millions of documents and tens of thousands of images related to the Epstein case. After the final file dump in late January, the Justice Department scrambled to remove unredacted nude images of young women. Other files had to be removed because they revealed personal information of people, which should have been redacted, including full names and addresses.
After the final Epstein document dump in January, the Justice Department took down more than 47,000 files, which made up around 65,000 total pages, as it worked to redact sensitive information. While those files contain some of the sensitive photos and information that should have been redacted, it&#8217;s unclear why most of the 65,000 pages continue to be held by the Trump administration. Mace accused the Justice Department of hiding the missing 65,000 pages.
“We’re gonna be talking about real, substantive issues, like the 65,000 documents that are being hidden by the DOJ right now,” Mace <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/03/04/pam-bondi-subpoena-epstien-00812960">said</a> after voting to subpoena Bondi.
Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the Oversight Committee, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5767681-pam-bondi-subpoena-epstein-files-oversight/">said</a> before the vote, &#8220;Look, the American public has significant questions about the DOJ and the process for releasing of the files. … I think it’s important that [Bondi] is in front of our committee, she can directly answer questions about the release of the files, about transparency, about ensuring that victims and survivors are protected.&#8221;
After the Clintons were deposed last week, Democrats called for the committee to subpoena President Donald Trump, arguing that the Republican effort to grill the Clintons &#8220;set a new precedent.&#8221;
While Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s crimes, the Epstein case has been a thorn in his administration&#8217;s side for most of his second term. On Tuesday, Trump&#8217;s Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick agreed to testify before the Oversight Committee on his ties to Epstein.

Clinton, deposed by several members of Congress in the ongoing Epstein probe, appeared to freeze the moment the question was asked about Epstein before his attorney jumped in quickly to rephrase the question for him before he answered.

Clinton stared straight ahead, but his attorney pounced immediately: &#8220;Are you asking his opinion? Are you asking him to think about why Mr. Epstein would say something about him?&#8221;
&#8220;Correct. Why would Epstein say that about the president?&#8221; Mace pressed.
The attorney jumped into motion again, quickly reframing the question before Clinton could begin to answer, saying, &#8220;So she&#8217;s asking you to try to be in Mr. Epstein&#8217;s mind and guess at what Mr. Epstein would have thought about —&#8221;
&#8220;First of all —&#8221; Clinton began, but was cut off as Mace interrupted.
&#8220;&#8216;Clinton likes them young,&#8217; referring to girls,&#8221; she repeated.
After a long pause, Clinton tried again.
&#8220;First of all,&#8221; he said, and then paused again before adding, &#8220;That&#8217;s not true.&#8221;
&#8220;What&#8217;s not true?&#8221; Mace asked.
&#8220;That I have any interest in underage girls,&#8221; Clinton said.
&#8220;I didn&#8217;t say underage, Mr. President,&#8221; Mace interjected. &#8220;I said young.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s still not true,&#8221; Clinton said, his voice rising slightly as he pushed back from the table.
Mace&#8217;s follow-up question, clearly referencing his former intern Monica Lewinsky, also appeared to take the former president off guard: &#8220;Is an intern young?&#8221;
&#8220;Yes,&#8221; Clinton conceded, but quickly added, &#8220;At my age, anybody younger than I am is young.&#8221;
Lewinsky was just 22 and working as an intern in the White House when Clinton, then 49, began an extramarital affair with her. The affair lasted 18 months and when their relationship became a public scandal in 1998, Clinton initially denied everything.
The former president, throughout the deposition, insisted that he had never witnessed Epstein doing anything that would have led him to believe that the late convicted pedophile had ever been involved in trafficking underage girls.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick agreed to testify on his connection to Jeffrey Epstein as part of the House Oversight Committee&#8217;s investigation into Epstein and his circle of powerful friends.
Lutnick told <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/03/03/lutnick-epstein-files-testify-house">Axios</a> on Tuesday that he volunteered for the Epstein deposition, maintaining that he did &#8220;nothing wrong&#8221; and wants &#8220;to set the record straight.&#8221; President Donald Trump&#8217;s Commerce secretary once lived next door to Epstein in Manhattan and visited Epstein&#8217;s infamous Caribbean island in 2012, four years after Epstein pled guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution. Lutnick has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes.
Lutnick is set to testify before the Republican-led Oversight Committee in the coming weeks, with the hearing taking place behind closed doors, similar to the hearings of former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who were grilled by lawmakers over their connection to Epstein last week.
&#8220;Secretary Lutnick has proactively agreed to appear voluntarily before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform,&#8221; committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) <a href="https://x.com/RepJamesComer/status/2028924167601463721">said</a>. &#8220;I commend his demonstrated commitment to transparency and appreciate his willingness to engage with the Committee. I look forward to his testimony.&#8221;
The deposition will likely focus heavily on Lutnick&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-cabinet-secretary-confirms-he-visited-epsteins-island-with-wife-and-children-in-2012">lunch with Epstein</a> on the financier&#8217;s island on Christmas Eve in 2012. Last month, Lutnick testified under oath during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing that he visited Epstein&#8217;s Little Saint James island while on vacation with his family.
&#8220;My wife was with me as were my four children and nannies. I had another couple — they were there as well with their children — and we had lunch on the island. That is true, for an hour, and then we left with all of my children, with my nannies and my wife all together,&#8221; Lutnick said.
A photo showing Lutnick with Epstein on Little Saint James was released as part of the Justice Department&#8217;s Epstein files dump in January, but the image was removed after it was made public. The Justice Department then released the photo again last week. A DOJ spokeswoman <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/photo-of-howard-lutnick-on-epsteins-island-was-removed-from-justice-department-files/">told</a> CBS News that the photo was flagged for nudity and taken down, but later restored after it was reviewed.

Lutnick was criticized for failing to mention the 2012 lunch on Epstein&#8217;s island when he told the New York Post’s Miranda Devine last year that after he and his wife first met Epstein in 2005, he vowed to never be in the same room as him. Lutnick suggested he and his wife were unnerved after Epstein gave them a tour of his home in Manhattan and pointed out a massage table “in the middle” of his home, making remarks about getting the &#8220;right kind of massage.&#8221;
“In the six or eight steps that it takes to get from his house to my house, my wife and I decided that I will never be in the room with that disgusting person ever again,” Lutnick told Devine last October. “So I was never in the room with him socially, for business, or even philanthropy. If that guy was there, I wasn’t going because he’s gross.”
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) grilled Lutnick over his relationship with Epstein last month, saying, &#8220;Secretary Lutnick, I think you understand the root of concern here. It’s the way you described, very emphatically, your first encounter with him … [and] said you were disgusted and would never have any contact with him again.&#8221;
Lutnick told senators that he doesn’t remember “why we did it,” referring to the lunch with Epstein on his island, but said it was false “to suggest there was anything untoward about that.” The Trump official also said that he did not witness anything inappropriate when he was on the island with Epstein.
When asked about a potential Lutnick deposition, President Trump said last Friday that &#8220;Howard would go in and do whatever he has to say.&#8221;
&#8220;He&#8217;s a very innocent guy — doing a good job,&#8221; Trump added.
The White House <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-cabinet-secretary-confirms-he-visited-epsteins-island-with-wife-and-children-in-2012">told</a> The Daily Wire last month that President Donald Trump remains confident in Lutnick’s ability to lead the Commerce Department.
“President Trump has assembled the best and most transformative cabinet in modern history. The entire Trump administration, including Secretary Lutnick and the Department of Commerce, remains focused on delivering for the American people,” White House Spokesman Kush Desai said.
Lutnick&#8217;s quick agreement to testify before the House Oversight Committee is a sharp contrast with the Clintons&#8217; months-long fight with the committee as they fought subpoenas sent by Comer and did not show up for their scheduled deposition in January. The Clintons only agreed to testify after the House began contempt proceedings.
House Democrats have also called for President Trump to testify before the Oversight Committee, arguing that Republicans &#8220;set a new precedent&#8221; when they subpoenaed the Clintons.

Former President Bill Clinton offered an unprompted defense of President Donald Trump during his Jeffrey Epstein deposition before the House Oversight Committee last week.
Clinton seemed to say more than what his lawyers would have preferred multiple times throughout the deposition. At one point, he went beyond his initial answer to a Trump-related question from ranking Democrat Robert Garcia of California after Garcia had yielded his time.
When Garcia asked Clinton if he thinks Trump should also face questions from the Oversight Committee about his ties to Epstein, Clinton replied, &#8220;That&#8217;s for you to decide, but he did know him well.&#8221; Clinton then said that he and Trump &#8220;had a brief discussion&#8221; about Epstein.
Garcia ended his line of questioning after Clinton&#8217;s answer, but the former president then offered a longer response on President Trump.
&#8220;I hate this because I don&#8217;t want to inject anything,&#8221; Clinton said as one of his lawyers appeared unsure of what the former president was going to say next. &#8220;But I do not want to leave the impression — but since there was no follow-up question, the president never — this is 20-something years ago — never said anything to me to make me think he was involved with anything with regard to Epstein either.&#8221;

Clinton said he and Trump spoke about Epstein while they were playing a round on Trump&#8217;s golf course in 2002 or 2003. The former president testified he didn&#8217;t recall whether Trump brought up Epstein during their conversation, adding, &#8220;I would be shocked if I did.&#8221;
&#8220;He somehow knew I had flown in Jeffrey Epstein&#8217;s aircraft and he said, &#8216;We had some great times over the years, but we fell out all because of a real estate deal,'&#8221; Clinton added.
Last Friday, during a brief recess in Clinton&#8217;s deposition, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) told reporters that Clinton had discussed President Trump and said Trump &#8220;has never said anything to me to make it seem like he was involved.&#8221; Shortly after Comer spoke to reporters, ranking member Garcia said that the chairman&#8217;s description wasn&#8217;t completely accurate.
&#8220;President Clinton did bring up some additional information about some discussions with President Trump. I think the way Chairman Comer described it, I don&#8217;t think is a complete accurate description of what actually was said,&#8221; Garcia told reporters.
Later in the deposition, Clinton reiterated that he has &#8220;no information that [Trump] did anything wrong.&#8221;
&#8220;I just want it all out there,&#8221; the former president added. &#8220;I want everybody to get it all out there and let everybody see where we are.&#8221;
Trump said on Friday that he didn&#8217;t believe Bill Clinton should have been deposed over his relationship with Epstein.
“I don’t like seeing him deposed,” Trump said, adding, “I like him.”
Democrats have repeatedly said they will push to subpoena Trump over his ties to Epstein after Republicans &#8220;set a new precedent&#8221; by deposing former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Former President Bill Clinton walked back remarks he made under oath that appeared to suggest Illinois Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker accompanied him on one of the flights he took aboard convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private plane. 
Clinton mentioned Pritzker when asked who typically accompanied him on flights he took on Epstein’s plane, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgJrYKAl6T0">according</a> to a video released Monday by the House Oversight Committee. After the clip circulated on social media, Clinton’s spokesman asserted that the former president did not mean to say that Pritzker flew on Epstein’s plane. 
“President Clinton was simply giving an example of the many people he traveled with to see the Clinton Foundation’s work. Governor Pritzker joined a Clinton Foundation trip in 2008,” said Clinton spokesman Angel Urena. “Not on Epstein’s plane. Not with Epstein. Not with Maxwell.”
During his deposition, Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) asked who Clinton “normally” brought with him on those flights. Clinton said he “brought people who work with me, especially people who would have to follow up on the fundraising, or people who were involved” in his work. 
“I had the Secret Service with me. And then on occasion, I had people who had volunteered to help us and wanted to see what we’re doing,” Clinton added. “For example, I think it was on one of these trips, I think that I had my first trip for the man who’s now the governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker and his wife, they gave me, they helped me get started.”

Pritzker campaign spokesman Alex Gough told The Daily Wire that the governor traveled with Clinton twice, but said the travel was not on Epstein’s plane. 
“Governor Pritzker was asked to travel with President Clinton on two trips, once in 2008 and once in 2013. Neither utilized Jeffrey Epstein’s aircraft, nor was he accompanied by that man or Ghislaine Maxwell,” he said. “We understand that the GOP is desperate to deflect from the heinous accusations against President Trump in the Epstein Files, but this is a particularly weak effort to assign blame where there is none.”
Gough did not provide a comment on whether Pritzker had ever had any other interactions with Epstein. 
The governor’s cousin, Thomas Pritzker, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/terrible-judgement-epstein-fallout-forces-top-hotel-exec-to-leave-hes-jb-pritzkers-cousin">announced</a> last month that he was stepping down from his executive position at the Hyatt hotel corporation over his ties to Epstein and Maxwell. 
“Good stewardship also means protecting Hyatt, particularly in the context of my association with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell which I deeply regret. I exercised terrible judgment in maintaining contact with them, and there is no excuse for failing to distance myself sooner,” Thomas Pritzker said in a <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260216864815/en/Tom-Pritzker-Retires-as-Executive-Chairman-of-Hyatt-After-22-Years-of-Service-and-Will-Not-Stand-for-Reelection-to-Board-of-Directors">news release</a>. “I condemn the actions and the harm caused by Epstein and Maxwell and I feel deep sorrow for the pain they inflicted on their victims.”

Former President Bill Clinton faced multiple questions surrounding a Jeffrey Epstein-related photo that showed him soaking in a hot tub with an unknown woman.
During his four-and-a-half-hour deposition before the House Oversight Committee last week, Clinton was handed the hot tub photo. The woman&#8217;s face was redacted in the Justice Department&#8217;s Epstein files dump.
The former president, who took dozens of trips with Epstein in the early 2000s, said that the photo was taken in Brunei, a small country in Southeast Asia. Clinton testified that he does not remember who the woman in the photo is.
&#8220;I had forgotten that there was anybody in the hot tub,&#8221; Clinton told lawmakers, adding, &#8220;I don&#8217;t know who that is.&#8221;
Asked if he engaged in any sexual activity with the woman in the photo, Clinton responded, &#8220;No.&#8221;

Clinton said the hot tub was in the same area as a large pool where other people were swimming when the photo was taken. Asked if anyone in the pool area was a minor, Clinton said, &#8220;No.&#8221; He also said that he believes a Secret Service agent was &#8220;at the other end of the pool.&#8221; Another photo released by the Justice Department shows Clinton swimming in the pool with Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell and a woman whose face was redacted.
Clinton said the pool area was not public and was on a hotel floor next to multiple suites where the former president and his team were staying on invitation from the sultan of Brunei. Clinton testified that he swam in the pool and enjoyed the hot tub for a brief time late at night before going to bed.
&#8220;I swam around, I sat in the hot tub for five minutes or whatever it was, and I got up and went to bed,&#8221; he said.

Clinton joined Epstein on the financier&#8217;s infamous airplane at least 26 times. Many of the trips were part of Clinton&#8217;s global AIDS initiative, according to the former president.
Clinton testified that he took his final flight on Epstein&#8217;s &#8220;Lolita Express&#8221; in 2003, five years before Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting a child for prostitution. Asked why he stopped traveling with the well-connected financier, Clinton said that after his AIDS initiative &#8220;picked up steam,&#8221; he began receiving offers from other people he &#8220;knew better&#8221; and &#8220;really cared about the work&#8221; who wanted to help with transportation.
&#8220;I thought Mr. Epstein was an interesting man, but I didn&#8217;t think he was really interested in what I was doing,&#8221; he added. Clinton said he had an agreement with Epstein. The late financier would provide the private jet for transportation. On those trips, Clinton said he would chat with Epstein about politics and economics.
&#8220;He never asked me anything untoward,&#8221; Clinton said of Epstein. &#8220;It&#8217;s just I thought I had done what I promised, what I promised to do, and he had done what he promised to do. And I&#8217;ve always, over the years, with donors, tried not to overstay my welcome.&#8221;
Clinton said he first learned of Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes in 2008 when he pleaded guilty.
&#8220;There&#8217;s nothing that I saw when I was around him that made me realize he was trafficking women,&#8221; the former president added.

Former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton threatened to walk away from her Jeffrey Epstein testimony and dared Congress to hold her in contempt if she did, newly released video of her deposition reveals.
The videos of former President Bill Clinton and his wife&#8217;s Jeffrey Epstein depositions were released on Monday, allowing Americans to go behind the closed door hearings that took place last week. Both former President Clinton and Secretary Clinton&#8217;s videos are over four-and-a-half hours long as the Democrats were grilled about their connection to Epstein.
During Hillary Clinton&#8217;s deposition, she threatened to leave the room after a photo of her testifying was shared on social media. As the deposition began, Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado shared a photo of Hillary Clinton with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, who then posted it on X.
One of Hillary Clinton&#8217;s lawyers interrupted the hearing to ask if sharing the photo was consistent with House rules.
&#8220;I&#8217;m done with this if you guys are doing that!&#8221; the former secretary of state fumed. &#8220;You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home. This is just typical behavior.&#8221;
The deposition was briefly derailed as Hillary Clinton&#8217;s lawyers called for a break.

Hillary Clinton has never been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s crimes. While she maintains she never met Epstein, Clinton has acknowledged that she spoke with Epstein&#8217;s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, “on a few occasions.”

Republicans on the Oversight Committee were mostly happy with Bill Clinton&#8217;s answers, with some GOP lawmakers even saying that the former president often spoke more candidly “than his attorneys were comfortable with.&#8221; Bill Clinton was close to Epstein before the financier pled guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008. In the early 2000s, Bill Clinton traveled with Epstein numerous times and photos released recently by the Justice Department show the former president schmoozing with Epstein and Maxwell, as well as multiple photos that show Bill Clinton in a swimming pool with Maxwell and enjoying a hot tub with a woman whose face was redacted.
During the deposition, Bill Clinton testified that he does not know who the woman in the hot tub was. He said that there were also other people in the pool area when he was in the hot tub, including a Secret Service agent. When asked if he engaged in any sexual activity with the woman in the photo, Bill Clinton said, &#8220;No.&#8221;

Former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton was grilled over her and her husband&#8217;s connection to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein for around six hours by members of the House Oversight Committee on Thursday. The hearing was a whirlwind of tough questions, heated debates, and a photo scandal.
Clinton&#8217;s deposition finally wrapped up around 5:30 p.m. ET, and Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said that Clinton &#8220;answered most of our questions,&#8221; but he added that there were many answers from Clinton that did not satisfy members of the committee. Comer said that Clinton frequently replied to questions by saying that her husband, former President Bill Clinton, would be a better person to ask.
Comer hinted at &#8220;very interesting&#8221; answers Clinton gave at the end of the deposition and promised that the committee would do its best to release the video of the deposition within the next 24 hours. The transcript of the hearing will also be released after Clinton&#8217;s lawyers review and approve it.
&#8220;We have a lot of questions for her husband tomorrow, and I&#8217;m confident that deposition will last even longer than this one,&#8221; Comer said.
Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) added, &#8220;I would just say one of the things I learned today is that if you really have specific questions about the Clinton Global Initiative or the relationship between the Clintons and Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, you have to ask Bill Clinton.&#8221;
Hillary Clinton spoke to reporters after the hearing and accused Republicans of using the deposition as a political stunt. She also said she wishes the Oversight Committee had held the hearing in public. Clinton described many of the questions she faced as &#8220;very repetitive&#8221; and claimed that she was grilled about UFOs and the sex-trafficking conspiracy theory known as &#8220;pizzagate.&#8221;
During the press conference, Clinton also addressed why Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell was in attendance at her daughter Chelsea&#8217;s wedding in 2010 after Maxwell had already been named in a civil lawsuit by Epstein victim Virginia Guiffre. Clinton said that Maxwell was at the wedding as a &#8220;plus-one&#8221; of another guest who was invited, but she did not say who the invited guest was.
Bill Clinton is set to testify under oath on Friday.
Democrats sitting in on the Jeffrey Epstein-related deposition of former Secretary of State and first lady Hillary Clinton took a brief recess at the two-hour mark on Thursday and blasted Republicans while calling for President Donald Trump to face questions under oath.
Democrats provided an update on the ongoing deposition, with Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the ranking Democratic member on the House Oversight Committee, saying that Clinton was &#8220;completely cooperating with the deposition and the committee.&#8221; He added that Clinton made it clear that she never met Epstein, was never on the pedophile&#8217;s infamous island, and had &#8220;zero knowledge&#8221; his heinous crimes.
During the press conference, the Democratic lawmakers said they will push Republicans to release the full, unedited transcript of the deposition within 24 hours. Clinton previously stated that she wanted the hearing to be public.
Garcia said that the Oversight Committee has &#8220;set a new precedent&#8221; for deposing presidents and former presidents, arguing that President Donald Trump should also answer questions on Epstein under oath.
Arizona Democratic Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari said she was &#8220;extremely appalled&#8221; by Republicans, saying they are &#8220;unserious about this investigation.&#8221;
&#8220;Today, we are sitting through an incredibly unserious clown show of a deposition, where members of Congress and the Republican Party are more concerned about getting their photo op of Secretary Clinton than actually getting to the truth and holding anyone accountable,&#8221; Ansari added.
Garcia ripped Republicans for &#8220;breaking their own committee rules that they established,&#8221; referring to Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) sharing a photo of Clinton from the closed-door hearing. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson posted a photo of Clinton at the hearing, crediting Boebert for sending him the image. The photo scandal caused the hearing to briefly go off the record. Boebert responded after the hearing was briefly derailed and said the deposition was again &#8220;proceeding.&#8221;
&#8220;Benny did nothing wrong,&#8221; Boebert <a href="https://x.com/laurenboebert/status/2027082360513040519">wrote</a> on X.
Later, Boebert said she really admired Hillary Clinton’s blue suit, which is why she wanted to capture it. When asked why she shared the photo, Boebert responded, “Why not?”
Clinton, along with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, fought for months to avoid their depositions after the Oversight Committee subpoenaed them last August, arguing that they could share their limited knowledge of Epstein through written statements to the committee. The Clintons&#8217; lawyers engaged in a long back-and-forth battle with Comer, and the couple skipped their scheduled deposition in January, which sparked contempt-of-Congress proceedings.
But after Republicans and some Democrats <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/clintons-in-the-hot-seat-as-oversight-committee-recommends-contempt-charges-over-epstein-scandal">voted</a> to recommend contempt charges, the Clintons finally agreed earlier this month to answer questions on Epstein under oath.
&#8220;Finally, they&#8217;re going to have to sit and answer questions under oath to Congress about their knowledge and involvement with the Epstein criminal activity as well as with Ghislaine Maxwell, who was the primary co-conspirator, the one who was responsible more than anyone for luring the girls into Jeffrey Epstein&#8217;s world,&#8221; Comer <a href="https://x.com/RepJamesComer/status/2026983080762945543">said</a> Thursday morning.
Comer also hinted at an important question Clinton will face during her deposition.
&#8220;One of the questions that we all have in both parties is: how was Jeffrey Epstein able to surround himself with the most powerful people in the world?&#8221; he said. &#8220;If you saw Hillary Clinton&#8217;s interview a few days ago, she acted like they barely knew Epstein and Maxwell. Well, that&#8217;s funny because Epstein was in the White House 16 times while Bill Clinton was president, and then Bill Clinton flew on his plane 27 times post-presidency, as well as Ghislaine Maxwell had a front-row seat at Chelsea Clinton&#8217;s wedding.&#8221;
Clinton posted her opening statement to the committee on social media at 11:08 a.m. ET. In the statement, Clinton accused the Republican-led Oversight Committee of conducting an investigation defined by &#8220;partisan political theater.&#8221; She also blasted Republicans for focusing on her deposition while no GOP members showed up for the testimony of former Victoria&#8217;s Secret CEO and Epstein business partner Les Wexner last week.
&#8220;This institutional failure is designed to protect one political party and one public official, rather than to seek truth and justice for the victims and survivors, as well as the public who also want to get to the bottom of this matter,&#8221; Clinton added.

The former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said last week that she doesn&#8217;t &#8220;recall ever meeting&#8221; Epstein, adding that she spoke with Maxwell &#8220;on a few occasions.&#8221; Clinton said the Oversight Committee&#8217;s decision to subpoena her and her husband takes away from what should be the &#8220;focus&#8221; of the Epstein investigation.
&#8220;The Republican member of Congress who is running this hearing, or this investigation, is trying to protect the president,&#8221; Clinton <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CBSNews/videos/hillary-clinton-says-her-family-has-no-links-to-jeffrey-epstein-and-ghislaine-ma/1585833139356305/">said</a>.
President Donald Trump, like former President Clinton, used to be a friend of Epstein&#8217;s and was pictured multiple times with Epstein at events before the financier pleaded guilty to procuring a child for prostitution in 2008. Trump has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes.
Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, told reporters that Democrats &#8220;from day one &#8230; have said we want to talk to anyone, any person with information about Jeffrey Epstein, about his crimes, about how he was able to get so much wealth. We will talk to any single person, whether that is a Democrat or Republican.&#8221;
Before he walked into the building for Clinton&#8217;s deposition, Garcia added that it is &#8220;important to note&#8221; that there is &#8220;no evidence&#8221; of the former secretary of state having any interactions with Epstein. He then blasted the Republicans and the Trump administration, accusing the White House of covering up information related to the Epstein investigation.
Trump and his administration have faced criticism over their handling of the Epstein case and the release of the Epstein files. After Congress passed legislation, which was signed by Trump, forcing the release of Epstein-related documents, the Justice Department began releasing a tranche of documents, emails, and photos, which shed more light on Epstein&#8217;s numerous relationships with powerful people.
Included in the DOJ Epstein files dump were multiple pictures of former President Clinton, one of which shows him in a pool with Maxwell and a woman whose face was redacted. Another photo in the files shows the former president in a hot tub with a woman whose face was redacted. The Justice Department has stated that it redacted faces of minors, alleged victims, and some government officials, but the Trump administration was <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/government-says-its-fixing-thousands-of-documents-in-epstein-related-files-that-may-have-had-victim-information">criticized</a> after some photos released to the public showed the faces of potential victims. Other materials that were not properly redacted contained nude photos, names, and addresses. The Justice Department quickly removed thousands of documents following what it called a &#8220;technical or human error.&#8221;
Neither of the Clintons has been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes, but Republicans and some Democrats say they want answers about the former president and first lady&#8217;s relationship with the late convicted sex offender. Former President Clinton was a friend of Epstein’s in the early 2000s, traveling with the financier numerous times on Epstein’s plane, which was used for sex trafficking. The former president was also seen in a picture getting a back massage from Chauntae Davies, one of Epstein’s accusers. Davies has not accused Clinton of acting inappropriately.

World Economic Forum President Børge Brende said Thursday he will step down from the organization, citing “distractions” stemming from his past ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. 
Brende’s resignation follows the release of Justice Department emails that shed light on his relationship with Epstein, prompting an internal inquiry by the WEF. 
“After careful consideration, I have decided to step down as President and CEO of the World Economic Forum. My time here, spanning 8½ years, has been profoundly rewarding,” Brende said. “I am grateful for the incredible collaboration with my colleagues, partners, and constituents, and I believe now is the right moment for the Forum to continue its important work without distractions.”
In a statement, WEF Board of Trustees co-chairs André Hoffmann and Larry Fink thanked Brende for his service and said that the inquiry found “no additional concerns beyond what has been previously disclosed.” Board member Alois Zwinggi will serve as interim president while the search for a replacement is conducted.
In 2018 and 2019, Brende had three dinners with Epstein, roughly a decade after Epstein&#8217;s 2008 conviction for solicitation of prostitution from a minor. Brende claimed he did not know about Epstein’s criminal past at the time. 
&#8220;I was completely unaware of ​Epstein&#8217;s past and criminal activities,&#8221; Brende said earlier this month. “Had I known about his background, I would have declined the initial invitation to join [former Norwegian Deputy Prime Minister Terje Rod-Larsen] and any subsequent dinner invitations ⁠or other communications.”
Brende previously served as Norway&#8217;s minister of foreign affairs. 
Emails released by the Justice Department appear to show Brende referring to Epstein as his “friend” and arranging a dinner at the convicted sex offender’s Manhattan home. The correspondence also indicates that the two discussed how the World Economic Forum could one day replace the United Nations. 
In a September 16, 2018, email, Epstein wrote to a person identified as Brende, “davos [sic] can really replace the UN. cyber, crypto. genetics&#8230; Intl coordination. like my stint at the trilateral. issues now need to deal with the distributed trust. and intemet [sic] fallout.”
The message appears to reference the World Economic Forum&#8217;s annual meeting in Davos.
Brende <a href="https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2011/EFTA02622851.pdf">replied</a>, “Exactly &#8211; we need a new global architecture. World Economic Forum (Davos) is uniquely positioned &#8211;public private,&#8221; according to an email released by the Justice Department. 
A September 21, 2018, <a href="https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00481813.pdf">email</a> appears to confirm a dinner between Epstein, Brende, and leftist journalist Michael Wolff. In a separate message around the same time, Brende appears to confirm the dinner with Epstein’s assistant. 
“I&#8217;m already looking forward,” Brende <a href="https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA00481835.pdf">wrote</a> on September 21, 2018. In response, Epstein’s assistant wrote, “He looks forward to seeing you!”
In a separate <a href="https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%209/EFTA01022370.pdf">email</a> on that same day, Brende told Epstein he was “looking forward” to the dinner and referred to him as “my friend.” 
In March 2019, Brende <a href="https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2011/EFTA02636878.pdf">wrote</a> to Epstein, “Best regards from Moscow and Riyadh&#8230;.” 
A June 2019 email shows the two <a href="https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2011/EFTA02290348.pdf">setting up</a> another dinner at Epstein’s Manhattan home. 
The Justice Department&#8217;s release of the Epstein files has had international repercussions, including arrests in the United Kingdom of former Prince Andrew and former U.S. Ambassador Peter Mandelson, both of whom have been accused of sharing confidential information with Epstein.
