Speaking at CPAC Argentina Wednesday, Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro argued that the country and its president, Javier Milei, have offered the world a vision for economic success.

Shapiro called Argentina’s economic revival “perhaps the most important political development on planet Earth at this very moment.”
“Thats thanks to the people of this country who have finally stood up and they’ve said ‘enough,’” Shapiro said. “Enough to socialist evil, enough to the impoverishment, enough to the lies, enough to the bulls***. It’s time to take a chainsaw to all of it.”
Shapiro touted Milei&#8217;s record of cutting the number of government ministries from 18 to eight, downsizing the bloated public sector, and slashing the budget by 32%, leading to Argentina reporting surpluses. He also pointed out that inflation is declining in Argentina as the stock market is skyrocketing because of Milei’s actions.
“President Milei is now leading the world forward to a new golden age of liberty,” Shapiro said. “He’s doing so with extraordinary audacity and courage.”
Shapiro’s speech was a fierce defense of free markets against socialism that destroyed the Argentine economy.
“Free markets are moral and they are just,” Shapiro said. “They reward merit. They reward hard work and solid decision making. The assumption by socialists very often is that people who succeed in society are sort of leeches, that they are the people who work the least. That isn’t true.”
Shapiro stated that socialism, at its core, stems from envy.
“Socialism encourages revolutionaries who produce literally nothing and destroy everything that they touch. It encourages laziness. It encourages stupidity and it encourages dishonesty at scale,” Shapiro went on.
“Socialism is just evil,” he added. “Socialism is the philosophy of the thief. It is the philosophy of the man who would prefer to burn everything down rather than to build anything up.”
Shapiro praised Millei for subscribing to the Austrian school of economics, which teaches that individual actions are motivated by self interest.
“President Milei is intelligent, unlike most of our political class,” Shapiro quipped.
“Argentina is a perfect example of how all of these bad ideas, when implemented, cost people their lives, cost people their livelihoods and destroy entire civilizations.”
Shapiro noted that in the early 20th century, Argentina was among the richest countries in the world. But its failure to fully develop free markets and inclusive economic institutions, coupled with decades of tyranny and corruption, set the country on a downward spiral. That downward trajectory persisted until Milei assumed leadership and addressed these long-standing issues.
“Until the rise of President Milei the government was able to basically expropriate property rights at will with impunity and the result was radical impoverishment,&#8221; Shapiro said. “If you look at the record of Argentina from 1980 to 2023, it is one of the rare countries in the West where it actually got harder to live here. In fact it took more time to work to buy basic goods in 2023 than it did in 1980.”
Milei, a supporter of strengthening relations between Argentina and the United States, told Shapiro on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/javier-milei-tells-ben-shapiro-the-ideas-of-americas-founding-fathers-will-save-argentina" target="_blank" rel="noopener">his podcast in April</a> that he believed his citizens needed to embrace the values of freedom that are values in the United States though they are under attack.
Shapiro said, however, he believes that Milei is leading the freedom movement in the world.
“Javier Milei, Argentina, you are leading the West back on to the right path,” Shapiro said.

Staunchly conservative Argentinian President Javier Milei, already forcefully revamping the ravaged Argentinian economy toward economic success, has added an effort to address men in women’s prisons, asserting he will ban it from Argentina.
On Tuesday, Milei stated, “Speaking of prisoners, I’ve got a little scoop for you. Recently, we’ve seen cases of criminals using the gender identity law to claim they’re women who should be in women’s prisons. They do this to exploit female inmates or continue their business in more relaxed conditions. Just last week, we learned that the Moros gang leader filed 10 habeas corpus to change his gender and receive male visitors. Only in a country with deeply distorted values could such absurdity be allowed.”
“That’s why we’re putting an end to this nonsense,” he declared. “We’re going to ban it. Criminals won’t be able to request prison transfers under gender identity and we’ll push for provincial prisons to adopt this policy. Those who don’t comply will only reward criminal creativity and disrespect crime victims.”

Last April, Milei <a href="https://buenosairesherald.com/society/crime/president-milei-says-he-wants-to-create-massive-private-prisons" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he wanted to sell off Argentina’s prisons built in residential areas. “We are thinking of selling those prisons to real estate companies and for those companies to fund the construction of a new one far away from the city &#8230; (the jails ) would have better security, higher quality, better services, would be bigger, and [would be built] without spending a single penny.”

“An exchange-traded fund tracking Argentine stocks saw record inflows as Wall Street embraces President Javier Milei’s efforts to quell inflation and reverse years of endemic budget deficits,” Yahoo Finance <a href="//9C749C15-C73A-4A77-B56F-264C2955592B/On%20Monday,%20Yahoo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, adding that the ARGT “absorbed $144 million of inflows for the week that ended on Nov. 22, with $88 million coming in on Friday alone, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. &#8230;  The fund &#8230; saw assets jump roughly seven-fold from $104 million when Milei took office to some $750 million on Monday.”
“Milei hasn’t just talked the talk, but is actually walking the walk,” said Malcolm Dorson, senior portfolio manager at Global X Management, which manages ARGT. “He has trade balances, he has built a fiscal surplus, inflation is ticking down, and economic activity is picking up.”

We are about to see a market explosion in the Western world — if capitalism is re-embraced.
It looks as though this is about to happen. The reality is that in the United States, as in most Western countries, the debt levels are reaching the unsustainable — or have already surpassed the unsustainable. The amount of national debt currently carried by the United States is verging on $37 trillion. That means the interest we pay on the national debt will soon — if it has not already — exceed the defense budget every single year into the foreseeable future.
Most of that debt is driven by welfare programs, means-tested welfare programs, badly structured welfare programs, and entitlement programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. All of those programs are the systemic drivers of debt in the Western world.
There are only two possible solutions to this problem, and both have to be applied at once.
First: serious restructuring and cuts to spending programs in the United States. 
Second: unleashing the power of the market to increase the size of the economy, because increasing the size of the pie means larger tax revenue intake and being able to afford more, on a governmental level.
The reason I call attention to this is because what we were set for under Joe Biden and his possible successors was a period of sustained economic stagnation in the United States — before inflation set in. Biden and his team put out a prospectus on what American GDP growth would look like over the course of the next decade, and they essentially forecasted it would come in at lower than 2% from here until as far as the eye can see. That is not enough growth to sustain the sort of spending programs the United States has been undertaking for decades.
At this point, something serious needs to change.

A look back through history shows that, quite often, ideological precursors to shifts in the United States happen elsewhere. Possibly the most famous economic example occurred in the 1970s when Chile was run by a dictator named Augusto Pinochet.
Pinochet called in several supply-side economists from the so-called Chicago School of Economics called ”The Chicago Boys.” They were devotees of Milton Friedman, the libertarian economist, and advised Pinochet. Chile subsequently outsized rates of growth after private property rights were reestablished, tax rates were lowered, and a system of law was put in place that eventually led to the downfall of Pinochet himself and the rise of the democratic state in Chile.
Milton Friedman was later asked about what happened in Chile. He <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhujtDulmlg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said:</a>
<blockquote>The real miracle in Chile was not that those economic reforms worked so well. Chile is, by all odds, the best success story in Latin America today. The real miracle is not that those economic arrangements worked so well, because that&#8217;s what Adam Smith said. The real miracle is that a military junta was willing to let them do it. See, as I said to begin with, the principles of the military [are] from the top down; the principle of a market is from the bottom up. Now, it&#8217;s a real miracle that a military group was willing to let a bottom-up approach take over. … But I will say that that process led to a situation in which you were able to get [an] election which ended the military junta, and you now have a democratic government. You cannot cite any similar example from the world of entirely socialist states.</blockquote>
So what exactly happened in Chile? There were effectively three main pillars to what the Chicago boys did there. Economic liberalization, meaning fewer trade barriers; an easing of regulation; and an easier capacity to make economic arrangements. Privatization of state-owned companies, gigantic ownership of state-owned companies, was then devolved upon private citizens. And finally, stabilization of inflation took place, which meant a stop to spending money and printing money in order to keep up with inflation.
The same thing is currently happening in Argentina. Javier Milei has undertaken one of the greatest economic reform efforts in modern history — and it is absolutely working. He has brought inflation rates down from the insane to the manageable, and he has done this over the course of just a few months.
The Washington Post has reported on his efforts, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/11/25/trump-javier-milei/">writing</a>:
<blockquote>Inflation is tumbling, just as he promised, from a peak of almost 300 percent; a long-running budget deficit has turned into a surplus; government bonds, once seen as almost certain to sink back into default, are rallying; and the long-moribund economy is finally starting to rebound,” Bloomberg News reported this month. “Not bad for an outsider with an agenda so radical that people were speculating openly a year ago on how many months he’d last before having to surrender power.</blockquote>
Milei himself has <a href="https://www.economist.com/the-world-ahead/2024/11/20/argentina-the-making-of-an-economic-miracle">said</a>, “What lies ahead in 2025 is more of what we’ve already done: strict fiscal balance, no money growth and deregulation. Argentina has suffered from an overdose of deficits, money-printing and useless regulations. All that needs to go.”
People on the Left are very upset because when this type of action is taken — if you throw people off the welfare dole, for example, because there&#8217;s too much spending on welfare or if you stabilize the currency — what that means quite often is that poverty rates in the very near-term increase. But then, they begin to decline radically, which is exactly what happened with Chile.
Milei remains incredibly popular in Argentina.
The success in Chile was the precursor to the economic revolution that spread across the Western world. The Chilean success was seen as a model by the Reagan administration; it&#8217;s why they pursued tax-cutting. It&#8217;s why they pursued deregulation and privatization of state-owned industries. The same occurred in Margaret Thatcher&#8217;s Britain.

The lessons that Milei is pushing in Argentina are being applied to the rest of the Western world. That doesn&#8217;t mean President-elect Trump wouldn&#8217;t have pursued it in the absence of Milei. It does mean, however, a wave of economies are beginning to recognize the stagnating pseudo-socialistic policies that are pushed by so many members of the Left actually end in economic ruin for nations. That is now being disowned.
That’s why the business market is reacting so positively to President Trump&#8217;s election. We are witnessing a working model that has been applied in Argentina, where it was in crisis mode, succeeding. That means crisis efforts have to be undertaken here as well.
If those efforts are applied even on a medium scale in the United States, we are about to see a boom unlocked in the United States, unlike any in modern American history.

Staunchly libertarian Argentinian President Javier Milei’s economic plans are proving enormously successful, as the country&#8217;s inflation <a href="https://apnews.com/article/argentina-inflation-milei-economy-21560cec4fd473a95155adf06ca46c4a?taid=673424a10264b5000162887b&amp;utm_campaign=TrueAnthem&amp;utm_medium=AP&amp;utm_source=Twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plunged</a> to 2.7% in October, the lowest level in three years.
Milei was elected roughly one year ago, but the measures he has taken have revivified the once-crippled Argentinian economy, where inflation dropped in October to 2.7% after registering at 3.5% in October. Milei had promised to lower inflation to less than 3% before the end of 2024.
&#8220;We are decreasing the tax that creates the most distortion: inflation,&#8221; Economy Minister Luis Caputo <a href="https://www.barrons.com/news/argentine-monthly-inflation-falls-to-three-year-low-34d2c913">stated</a>.
In 2022, the Argentinian <a href="https://www.statista.com/topics/10637/inflation-in-argentina/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inflation rate</a> was 72.43%. <a href="https://www.barrons.com/news/argentine-monthly-inflation-falls-to-three-year-low-34d2c913" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Barrons</a> reported that when Milei took office last December, “monthly inflation leapt by 25.5 percent after he devalued the peso by more than 50 percent. It has since been on a downward trajectory, coming in at under five percent each month since May. &#8230; Milei, who wielded a chainsaw on the campaign trail last year as a symbol of his plan to slash public spending, has cut energy and transport subsidies and thousands of public sector jobs.”
&#8220;We are emerging from the desert, the country is starting to grow again,&#8221; Milei declared.
In early October, students <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/argentina-budget-cuts-spark-protests-universities-2024-10-02/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protested</a> in Buenos Aires because Milei’s government implemented strong spending cuts at public universities.
The Economist <a href="https://www.economist.com/leaders/2024/06/19/javier-mileis-next-move-could-make-his-presidency-or-break-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> in June that Milei had “slashed spending&#8221; while the  &#8220;central bank stopped printing money to finance the deficit,” adding that “by most economic measures Mr Milei is beating expectations.  &#8230; Argentina has had fiscal surpluses for five months in a row. Inflation spiked after a sharp devaluation, but has since fallen to a monthly rate of 4.2% in May, the lowest in over two years.”
In January, Milei spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he <a href="https://www.weforum.org/stories/2024/01/special-address-by-javier-milei-president-of-argentina/">stated</a>, “Today, I’m here to tell you that the Western world is in danger. And it is in danger because those who are supposed to have to defend the values of the West are co-opted by a vision of the world that inexorably leads to socialism and thereby to poverty.”
“Unfortunately, in recent decades, the main leaders of the Western world have abandoned the model of freedom for different versions of what we call collectivism. Some have been motivated by well-meaning individuals who are willing to help others, and others have been motivated by the wish to belong to a privileged caste,” Milei added. “We’re here to tell you that collectivist experiments are never the solution to the problems that afflict the citizens of the world. Rather, they are the root cause.”
He concluded, “Do not surrender to the advance of the state. The state is not the solution. The state is the problem itself. &#8230; long live freedom!&#8221;
In May 2024, Milei spoke in Spain, where he <a href="https://www.barrons.com/news/spain-deputy-pm-accuses-milei-of-sowing-hatred-1a41d091" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>: &#8220;Let us not let the dark, black, satanic, atrocious, horrible carcinogenic side that is socialism prevail over us.&#8221;
Before he was elected, Milei held numerous rallies in front of thousands of young people at which he would educate them on conservative economic policies, quoting famed economists such as Friedrich Hayek.

Argentina President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/javier-milei" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Javier Milei</a> declared war on the global Left during a rousing speech at the United Nations this week where he announced that his country would no longer remain neutral and on the sidelines.
The 53-year-old libertarian economist — whose policies have started to rapidly reverse Argentina&#8217;s decline with inflation rates falling, rental housing becoming more available and affordable, and economic growth outpacing forecasts — said that he became a politician &#8220;following the resounding failure of more than a century of collectivist policies that destroyed our country.&#8221;
He warned that the U.N. has veered off course in recent decades from its original charter of ensuring major global war did not erupt again by adopting principles centered around the belief that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
Milei said that the organization changed from being &#8220;a shield to protect&#8221; mankind to &#8220;a leviathan with various tentacles purporting to decide not only what each nation state should do, but also how all the citizens in the world should live.&#8221;
He warned that the 2030 Agenda that the U.N. was pushing was nothing more than &#8220;a supranational government program that is socialist in shape.&#8221;

&#8220;It purports to resolve the problems of modernity with solutions that afflict the sovereignty of nation states and violate the right to life, right to freedom, and property of persons,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s an agenda that purports to resolve poverty, inequality, discrimination with legislation that simply furthers these issues, because the history of the world has shown that the only way of guaranteeing prosperity is by limiting the power of the monarch, by guaranteeing equality before the law, defending the right to life, to freedom, and to the property ownership of individuals.&#8221;
He said that the U.N. committed &#8220;crimes against humanity&#8221; by advocating for lockdowns around the world in response to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
&#8220;In this same house, we that purport to defend human rights, we have also included bloody dictatorships in the Human Rights Council, including Cuba and Venezuela, without reproach,&#8221; he said. &#8220;In this same house, which purports to defend the rights of women, we&#8217;ve allowed on CEDAW, the CEDAW Committee, countries that punish their women just for showing their skin. In this same house that had voted against the State of Israel, which is the only country in the Middle East to defend a liberal democracy, we have simultaneously shown a total inability to respond to the scourge of terrorism.&#8221;
&#8220;On the economic level, we have promoted collectivist policies that undermine economic growth, violate property rights and disrupt a natural economic process in preventing the most left behind countries to freely enjoy their own resources,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;[The U.N. has] imposed regulations and prohibitions specifically because of countries that wish to develop themselves. We have further established toxic relationship between global governance and international credit bodies demanding that those countries that are most left behind commit resources that they don&#8217;t have to programs that they don&#8217;t need, making them perpetual debtors.&#8221;
&#8220;We have also seen ridiculous policies with Malthusian stances, such as zero emissions policies that harm all poor countries, policies related to sexual and reproductive rights when birth rates in Western countries are plummeting, announcing a somber future for all of us,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We have also seen that the veto of the permanent members of the Security Council has begun to be used in the defense of the specific interests of a certain few. That&#8217;s where we are today, with a powerless organization, powerless to provide solutions to the true global conflicts.&#8221;
He said that the U.N. should be focused on Russia&#8217;s criminal war against Ukraine, which has resulted in hundreds of thousands of people being killed, instead of wasting time and money &#8220;imposing on poor countries how they should and how much they should produce, who they should do relations with, what they should eat, and what they should believe in.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;d like to issue a warning here,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We are coming to the end of a cycle, collectivism and the moral posturing and the woke agenda is coming up against reality. There are no further credible solutions to the real problems of the world. If the 2030 agenda fails, as recognized by its own promoters, the response should be to wonder whether or not this was an ill-conceived program from the outset, and we should accept this reality and change what we&#8217;re doing.&#8221;
&#8220;The same thing always happens with ideas that come from the Left,&#8221; he continued, noting that leftists &#8220;design a model in line with what human beings should do, and when individuals freely decide to act otherwise, they have no better solution than to restrict, repress, or cut off their freedom.&#8221;
&#8220;In Argentina, we&#8217;ve seen with our own eyes what they have done at the end of this path of envy and sad passion: poverty, anarchy, and a total lack of liberty,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We still have time to choose another direction. I want to be clear so that there&#8217;s no poor misunderstanding here. Argentina is going through a profound process of change currently and has decided to embrace the ideas of freedom. These are ideas that say that all citizens are born free and equal before the law, that we have inalienable rights granted by our Creator to life, to freedom, and to property.&#8221;
He said that these new principles the country is adopting will guide its international conduct moving forward.
&#8220;We believe in the defense of life for all,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We believe in the defense of property for all. We believe in freedom of expression for all. We believe in freedom of worship for all. We believe in freedom of trade for all. And we believe in limited government for all. And in these times, what happens in one country has a swift impact on others, and we believe that peoples should be able to live free of tyranny and oppression, be it political oppression, economic slavery, or religious fanaticism. This fundamental idea shouldn&#8217;t be mere words. It should be supported by our acts, diplomatically, economically and materially, through the joint force of all of the countries that stand up for freedom.&#8221;
He warned that Argentina will no longer support &#8220;any policy that implies restricting individual or trade freedoms, nor the violation of natural rights of individuals, regardless of who promotes these or how big the consensus is in this institution.&#8221;
&#8220;For this reason, I&#8217;d like to officially express our dissent on the Pact For The Future that was signed on Sunday, and I invite all nations of the free world to support us, not only in relation to this pact, but also in the establishment of a new agenda for this noble institution,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;That is the agenda for freedom. At first glance, Vice President Kamala Harris has little in common with Eva Perón, the controversial first lady of Argentina popularly known as “Evita.” But a closer look reveals one alarming similarity.
Over 70 years ago, Evita and her husband, Argentina’s president Juan Perón held power by showering their fellow citizens with benefits and tanking the economy. The Peróns threw (figurative) candy off the palace balcony to the masses below, while distracting them from the consequences of irresponsible fiscal policy.
Last year, inflation in Argentina was at 140%. Poverty was at 40%. Half the country was receiving some kind of public payment. After seven decades of Peronism, the Argentines had finally had enough. They elected economist Javier Milei on a promise to shrink government, privatize state companies, and liberalize trade.
Here in los Estados Unidos, we seem not to have taken this lesson to heart.
President Biden used COVID as an excuse to give us the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act — which, despite the names, poured printed trillions into the money supply. This, <a href="https://www.heritage.org/budget-and-spending/commentary/inflation-will-stick-around-long-the-big-spenders-do" target="_blank" rel="noopener">economists tell us</a>, is the basic cause of inflation. More money chasing the same amount of stuff means higher prices.
Then there was the student loan giveaway, where hundreds of billions in borrowers’ liability, regardless of the quality of their degree or ability to pay, were transferred to you and me. The Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional, but the administration continued regardless.
There was also a pension bailout. Biden used $36 billion in taxpayer funds to <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/12/08/fact-sheet-president-biden-announces-historic-relief-to-protect-hard-earned-pensions-of-hundreds-of-thousands-of-union-workers-and-retirees/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bail out</a> 350,000 participants in underfunded private plans. But what the White House called “helping to ensure a dignified retirement for all American workers” means all the other taxpayers bailing out badly-managed union funds. Nationalizing private losses creates more moral hazard, as feckless managers face no consequences for failure.
When it comes to immigration, Biden has doled out candy like no other president before him—a policy that Harris, his “border czar,” shows every sign of continuing if she succeeds him.
There’s been billions in <a href="https://www.fema.gov/grants/preparedness/shelter-services-program/fy24-awards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FEMA grants given to charities</a> that relocate inadmissible aliens throughout the country, and to the Biden-supporting cities and states that house them for “free.”
There’s Temporary Protected Status, where the government “temporarily” declares a given country’s illegal aliens off limits for enforcement. This lasts 18 months, but then is renewed over and over. Some countries’ nationals have had TPS for <a href="https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/temporary-protected-status/temporary-protected-status-designated-country-el-salvador" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decades</a>.
Then there’s Biden’s bogus immigration <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2023/01/13/a-legal-immigrants-lament-bidens-parole-scheme-makes-patsies-of-those-who-abide-by-law/">parole-a-palooza</a> programs that cover whole countries and millions of inadmissible or illegal aliens. The latest is “<a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/biden-weighs-giving-legal-status-to-immigrant-spouses-of-u-s-citizens-04277843" target="_blank" rel="noopener">parole in place</a>,” which could apply to a million or more illegal aliens married to U.S. citizens. Like other Biden “lawful pathways” around immigration limits set by Congress, this one is wide open to fraud.
There’s Deferred Enforced Departure for illegally present <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2024/02/14/memorandum-on-the-deferred-enforced-departure-for-certain-palestinians/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Palestinians</a> (and <a href="https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/deferred-enforced-departure" target="_blank" rel="noopener">others</a>), which means although a foreign national has had all due process, the Biden-Harris administration just decides not to enforce judgement.
The administration is also <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/29/biden-border-bill-next-00154839">considering</a> expanding the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/sites/default/files/pages/attachments/2015/07/24/eoir42b.pdf">Cancellation of Removal</a> program to people who have lived in the U.S. for over 10 years and have citizen relatives who would “suffer hardship” if they were deported. They’re unlikely to set the hardship bar too high.
There’s <a href="https://thefederalist.com/2023/04/26/biden-invites-more-illegal-immigrants-by-proposing-free-health-care-at-your-expense/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">taxpayer subsidized Medicaid and Obamacare</a> for DACA (Obama’s “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” program). To achieve this, Biden’s <a href="https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2023-08635.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed rule</a> considers DACA beneficiaries “lawfully present” for the purposes of health benefits, though the justification for the “deferred action” against them is that they are unlawfully present. It’s pretzel logic.
The <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1Ez3LZOgUQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emerging</a> Harris agenda builds off the Biden years by bringing a bigger bag of candy to the balcony and throwing it off even faster. She wants to:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Give illegal aliens an “earned <a href="https://www.npr.org/2024/08/18/nx-s1-5008844/democratic-national-convention-harris-policy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pathway</a> to citizenship” (amnesty);</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">“eliminate” medical debt (by transferring it to the rest of us);</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">give first-time house buyers $25,000 and $40 billion in subsidies tax credits for builders;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">give parents a $6,000 “tax credit” (even if they pay no tax);</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">ban “price-gouging” for groceries, and</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">cap prescription drug costs.</li>
</ul>
 The last two ideas are known as “price controls.” Reason magazine <a href="https://reason.com/2024/08/19/kamal-harris-dishonest-and-stupid-price-control-proposal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">calls</a> them “dishonest and stupid.” Or as Federal Reserve economist Chris Neely more politely <a href="https://www.stlouisfed.org/publications/regional-economist/2022/mar/why-price-controls-should-stay-history-books#authorbox" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writes</a>, an “analysis of history show that broad price controls would be costly and of limited effectiveness.”
Harris <a href="https://mailchi.mp/press.kamalaharris.com/vice-president-harris-lays-out-agenda-to-lower-costs-for-american-families">says</a> she will do all this while “reducing the deficit and strengthening our fiscal health.” You see, she will throw all the candy out of the basket, but the basket magically refills. It’s the miracle of the loaves and fishes, with faith not in God but Big Government.
Tax expert Daniel Hemel <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/08/16/kamala-harris-2024-policy-child-tax-credit/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thinks</a> Harris has “made the correct calculus that sacrificing on fiscal policy for a few hundred thousand middle-class voters in the battleground states is worth it.”
Maybe so. And who wants to be the politician running against Evita and the free candy? What’s certain is that, though the candy continues to rain on our heads, it is never free.

President Joe Biden elicited a strange reaction from Argentinian President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/javier-milei" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Javier Milei</a> when, during a meeting with Pope Francis, Biden leaned in and rested his forehead against the Pope&#8217;s.
Biden met with Pope Francis while he was in Italy for the G-7 meetings with a number of other world leaders, and while he was speaking to the Catholic leader, he kept leaning in closer and closer until finally, the two were forehead to forehead. Pope Francis&#8217; expression was one of mild surprise at the president&#8217;s actions, but as Milei turned and saw the scene playing out, he appeared to recoil.

Argentina President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/javier-milei" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Javier Milei</a> riled the far-Left in Spain late this week while he visited the country and slammed their political ideology as cancerous and evil.
During his first speech in the country on Friday, the right-wing libertarian political leader and economist <a href="https://www.barrons.com/news/spain-deputy-pm-accuses-milei-of-sowing-hatred-1a41d091" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>: &#8220;Let us not let the dark, black, satanic, atrocious, horrible carcinogenic side that is socialism prevail over us.&#8221;
Far-left Spanish Labour Minister Yolanda Diaz, who is also a deputy prime minister, had accused Milei of spreading &#8220;hate&#8221; with his freedom-loving ideas.
&#8220;There aren&#8217;t many who sow hate, but they make a lot of noise and flood everything,&#8221; said Diaz. &#8220;Milei and other governments of hate are back with their austerity measures and authoritarianism.&#8221;
Milei said that his policies were putting his country back on track after being on &#8220;a decline of more than 100 years&#8221;.
Milei has made major cuts to the country&#8217;s spending and cut the size of its government, along with other measures, which have resulted in its inflation rate plummeting and the government recording surpluses for the first time in nearly two decades.

Prior to his visit to Spain, Spanish Transport Minister Oscar Puente insulted Milei, claiming that he was using drugs.
Milei&#8217;s office responded to &#8220;the slander and insults&#8221; from Puente by slamming the government of socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, saying that it had &#8220;more important problems than what to deal with, such as the accusations of corruption that fall on his wife, an issue that even led him to evaluate his resignation.&#8221;
&#8220;For the good of the Kingdom of Spain, we hope that justice acts quickly to clarify such a corruption scandal that directly affects stability of his Nation and, consequently, the relations with our country,&#8221; the statement said.
The statement slammed the socialist government for putting women at risk by allowing hoards of illegal immigrants in and endangering the middle class with socialist policies that &#8220;only bring poverty and death.&#8221;

Former Mumford &amp; Sons banjoist Winston Marshall delivered a brutal takedown of Rep. Nancy Pelosi&#8217;s (D-CA) argument claiming that populism was &#8220;a threat to democracy,&#8221; saying that the true threat to democracy was an elite ruling class that looked down on instead of working for regular people.
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW8SnMRhExA" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pelosi spoke</a> at Oxford Union in late April, arguing that &#8220;populism&#8221; was synonymous with &#8220;ethno-nationalism&#8221; and &#8220;isolationism&#8221; and so-called &#8220;populists&#8221; took advantage of the people once they reached positions of power. She went on to say that some Americans — &#8220;poor souls who are looking for some answers&#8221; — were reluctant to accept the answers Democrats provided because their views on &#8220;guns, gays, [and] God&#8221; distorted their perception.
Once she was finished, Marshall offered his take on the situation, and he began with a breakdown of the way Democrats had slowly changed the meaning of the word &#8220;populism&#8221; — from a positive when former President Barack Obama claimed it to a negative when they applied it to former President Donald Trump.

Marshall explained that as recently as 2016, Obama had vocally objected to Trump being called a populist, arguing that he did not care about working people and claiming the &#8220;populist&#8221; mantle for himself.
&#8220;If anything, Obama argued that he was the populist. If anything, Obama argued that Bernie was the populist,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Something curious happens. If you watch Obama&#8217;s speeches after that point, more and more recently, he uses the word ‘populist’ interchangeably with ‘strong man,’ ‘authoritarian.&#8217; The word changes meaning. It becomes a negative, a pejorative, a slur.&#8221;
&#8220;Populism&#8217; has become a word used synonymously with ‘racist.’ We&#8217;ve heard ‘ethno-nationalist,’ we have ‘bigot,’ we have ‘hillbilly,’ ‘redneck,’ we have ‘deplorable,’&#8221; Marshall said, noting that Pelosi had even called it &#8220;a threat to democracy&#8221; itself. &#8220;Elites use it to show their contempt for ordinary people.&#8221;
Marshall briefly mentioned the Capitol riot that took place on January 6, 2021, calling it a &#8220;dark day&#8221; in America&#8217;s history — but then he argued that there were other days that should be viewed through the same lens.
&#8220;I&#8217;m sure Congresswoman Pelosi will agree that the entire month of June 2020, when the federal courthouse in Portland, Oregon, was under siege and under insurrection by radical progressives, those, too, were dark days for America,&#8221; he said.
Pelosi objected then, raising her hand and asserting that there could be no comparison and claiming that Trump had incited an insurrection.
&#8220;My point, though, is that all political movements are susceptible to violence and, indeed, insurrection. Populism is not a threat to democracy. Populism is democracy. And why else have universal suffrage if not to keep elites in check?&#8221; Marshall said.
&#8220;Today, particularly in America, the globalist left have become the establishment,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;I suppose for Mrs. Pelosi to have taken this side of the argument, she&#8217;d be arguing herself out of a job.&#8221;
Pelosi interjected once more during Marshall&#8217;s speech to insist that the 2016 presidential election — which former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lost to Trump — had been &#8220;hijacked.&#8221;

The recently-elected president of Argentina, Javier Milei, is turning to the values of America’s Founding Fathers to save his country, he tells Ben Shapiro.
“We have decided to embrace the values of the West,” Milei explains in a wide-ranging interview with Shapiro, Editor Emeritus of The Daily Wire. “And embracing the values of the West means embracing the Founding Fathers of the United States.”
Milei explains that the original Argentinian Constitution from the 1800s was fashioned after the U.S. Constitution, and the country.
“When that was implemented, Argentina ended up becoming a leading world power after having been a backwater,” the president said, explaining that the country began its decline only once Left-leaning and socialist ideologies took control. His triumph, Milei believes, is an opportunity for Argentina to return to its original values.

“We need to embrace the values of freedom, which are ideas in the United States — even though in recent times they may have been degraded and some might have walked off the path,” he said. 
Milei is a strong supporter of strengthening relations between Argentina and the United States, as well as other countries that embrace freedom such as Israel. (Milei told Shapiro that Moses is the “greatest freedom hero of all time,” and that Israel still embodies Moses&#8217; spirit.)
An economist and politician, Milei assumed the presidency in December 2023 after running a media-savvy campaign focused on promoting capitalism, cutting government spending, and saving Argentina from decline. Milei emphasized that, despite the dire economic situation in Argentina, there is incredible optimism in Argentina that his policies will work. 
“70% of Argentines are convinced that we are going to put an end to inflation,” Milei said. “When you use one of these word clouds and ask people about their spontaneous feelings in Argentina, now, the word that most often comes up is hope.”
To create support and excite young people, Milei said his political rallies were modeled after rock concerts. 
“They were political rallies, but the format was more like a Rolling Stones concert, as I like the Rolling Stones,” he said. “One of the wonderful things is that at these rallies we had stands like a concert, with T-shirts, memorabilia, and different items. And there were stands with books.”
The former college lecturer says he realizes it&#8217;s not normal for a politician to captivate the attention of 20,000 to 30,000 people while speaking about economist Friedrich Hayek at a rally.
“Something was clearly on the way,” he told Shapiro, adding that he would tell himself he was just teaching a class about economics before rallies to gain confidence, because he was in such disbelief.
Milei said he began to believe during his campaign that Argentinian society was “maturing” and ready to discard socialism for capitalism.
“When you instead embrace the ideas of freedom, what happens is that you are elevated as a human being,” he says.

When Shapiro asked Milei how he balances being an eloquent economist with the public image of someone with a chainsaw cutting away government bureaucracy, Milei compared himself to a soccer goalie, a “thankless” and “tough position” that requires a man with a “very bold personality.”
“Out of the 11 players on the team, the goalie is the only one that can use hands, and is the one who dresses differently. The goalkeeper also trains on their own,” he said. “Unlike the others, when they make mistakes, they are goals. It&#8217;s a very thankless position, because when a goalkeeper saves a goal, it&#8217;s tantamount to scoring a goal. When a forward scores a goal, it&#8217;s a goal. It&#8217;s a very tough position to be in and it requires a very bold personality.”
He cited how important that was when he was being  “violently attacked” by the Argentinian media during his race, including smears on his personal life and even his pets. 
“The gutter of the universe was in the media in Argentina, which was subservient to two huge party structures in order to destroy an individual,” he said. “But that strength that I had as a goalkeeper helped me stand, in addition to the spiritual support I got from my sister and my rabbi.”
Milei, claiming his popularity has grown, said if a run-off election were held today, he would win by an even larger margin.
“We were brave enough to tell the truth, and that&#8217;s why the political caste is at a loss,” Milei said. “They always deceived people, and they&#8217;ve always told them what they thought they wanted to hear.”
“We said to the people what we had to do in order to rise up from the bottom of the pit,” he said.

Milei <a href="https://www.jewishpress.com/news/israel/jerusalem/argentinas-president-arrives-in-israel-reiterates-vow-to-move-embassy-to-jerusalem/2024/02/06/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrived in Israel</a> with Argentina’s Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, the Secretary General of the Presidency Karina Elizabeth Milei, and Rabbi Axel Wahnish, whom he has chosen to be Argentina’s Ambassador to Israel.
In late November, Milei arrived in the United States, where before he even met with U.S. officials or the International Monetary Fund, he went straight to the grave of the late Chabad-Lubavitch leader Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson to pay his respects. Prior to leaving Argentina, Milei had joined Rabbi David Pinto Shlita — who gave him and his mother a blessing — in Buenos Aires for the Havdalah ceremony marking the end of the Jewish Sabbath.
“I celebrate this beautiful country, Argentina, and I ask God to protect the Argentine Nation so that it returns to what it was before. I am sure that with God&#8217;s help you will help the Nation and, with the people of Argentina, you will achieve it,” Pinto Shilta <a href="https://www.lanacion.com.ar/politica/javier-milei-asistio-a-una-ceremonia-judia-y-recibio-la-bendicion-de-un-reconocido-rabino-nid26112023/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Milei, who responded, &#8220;Thank you, thank you, Rabbi.” The rabbi told Milei’s sister, “We pray to God to protect him in everything he needs.”
Argentina has the largest Jewish population in South America, roughly 220,000 people.
Milei visited Schneerson’s grave in July, where he visited the tomb of the Lubavitch rabbi and requested a blessing before the election that took place earlier this week. Schneerson, the leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, was a tireless pioneer for Jewish outreach; there are currently over 1,400 Chabad-Lubavitch <a href="https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/rabbi-menachem-mendel-schneerson-jewish-virtual-library" target="_blank" rel="noopener">institutions</a> in 35 countries on six continents.

“The truth is that I did not get to know the Rebbe personally, but just in the last year I had the privilege of visiting the Rebbe&#8217;s grave twice,” Milei, who amazed the world by winning the presidential election in a landslide, stated. “There I asked for his holy blessing to be elected president of Argentina and this blessing became a reality this week.”
Milei, who <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/world/javier-milei-crushes-argentine-left-becomes-worlds-first-libertarian-head-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pledged</a> that Argentina&#8217;s two key allies would be the United States and Israel, gave his first foreign press interview to the Hasidic newspaper, “Kfar Chabad.” He <a href="https://www.ynetnews.com/article/rygn11btna" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, “From what I&#8217;ve learned about the history of the Jewish people, their survival against all odds, and the divine protection they&#8217;ve received, I&#8217;m certain they will continue to prevail. Highly conservative new Argentinian president Javier Milei stated bluntly, “Every single state company that I can sell I will do as soon as possible.&#8221;
Milei conducted an <a href="https://www.wsj.com/video/exclusive-argentine-president-milei-says-theres-no-plan-b-for-economy/553AA5B2-E861-4942-A852-E89BF4D203CE?mod=hp_trending_now_video_pos1">exclusive interview</a> with Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker, who asked, “I want to know how long you think the Argentine people can wait to see signs that your plan is working.”
“They understand that this process can take about two years,” Milei, who promised to change the currency from the peso to the U.S. dollar and close the Central Bank, answered. “And even if there’s a warning sign, saying it is hard to bear the austerity for more than a year, the truth is that when we begin to see the way in which the data is flowing and how inflation is moving, we ourselves are surprised at the speed with which we are achieving results.&#8221;
“You were just in Davos, and your speech in Davos generated a lot of attention,” Tucker noted. “I want to know, what else do you need from your supporters beyond words? Is, for example, Argentina receiving new investments?”
“It is true that we would need investments because one of the things that happens is that when you make fiscal adjustments, you increase savings. If those savings are not paired up with investments, economic activity drops, followed by employment rates, and finally real wages,” Milei replied.
“Privatization. How quickly do you plan to move forward with your agenda?” Tucker asked.
“As fast as I can,” Milei stated. “Every single state company that I can sell I will do as soon as possible. The thing is that there are institutional restrictions.”
“Where will you start? With Aerolineas Argentas? The trains?” Tucker pressed.
“Whatever we can we will privatize. I mean, it’s not a question of naming which companies; it’s just a matter of technical constraints in terms of time,” Milei said. “In the last month, we bought $5 billion and the monetary base in Argentina is close to $8 billion, around $7.5 billion, so that if we finished cleaning up all the interest-bearing liabilities of the Central Bank, we would be able to dollarize for very little money.”
“Are you still thinking about adopting the dollar?” Tucker queried.
“In reality, we have always talked about a free competition among currencies. It’s a matter of what Argentines choose, and it is likely that at an initial moment, they will choose the dollar,” Milei asserted.
“Do you have a plan B?” Tucker asked.
“No. there is no plan B. There is no plan B to do things right. You either do things right or you do them right. Because if plan B is to start doing things halfway or compromise, that’s the story of Argentina, and that’s where we are now,” Milei told her.
