An ICE agent shot &#8220;an illegal alien from Venezuela&#8221; in the leg on Wednesday night after being &#8220;ambushed by three individuals,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/DHSgov/status/2011632198000976086">according</a> to an X post by DHS. The agent was attacked with a snow shovel and a broom handle. The ICE officer and the suspect who was shot were hospitalized, and the other two attackers are in custody, DHS said. Tensions on the streets remain high in Minneapolis, but ICE is still moving forward with its mission. Daily Wire immigration reporter Jenny Taer joined Morning Wire on the ground in Minneapolis, describing the chaotic environment in which federal immigration officers are attempting to do their jobs. “There were absolutely moments where I felt like things were just going to go haywire,” Taer said. Agitators constantly impede and threaten officers. Arrests of agitators have become a daily occurrence in Minneapolis, despite efforts by federal agents to de-escalate and allow agitators to step away. Taer said that the situation in Minneapolis is “very intense,” and the attempt to hamper ICE is a “very organized, well-communicated operation.”
<h2 style="text-align: center;">ICE Officer Sustains Internal Bleeding After Renee Good Shooting</h2>
New information has come to light on the condition of the ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Good. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Good’s vehicle <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ice-officer-who-shot-renee-good-internal-injuries-sources-say/">struck</a> the ICE agent hard enough to cause internal bleeding. The agent and his family have since gone into hiding because of the threats they face. Regarding the Good investigation, at least half a dozen prosecutors have resigned from the Minneapolis U.S. Attorney&#8217;s office over the handling of the Good shooting death investigation, reportedly stemming from objections to Justice Department priorities and the refusal to open a civil rights inquiry.
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Clintons Duck Congress’s Epstein Questions</h2>
The Clintons are refusing to comply with a subpoena in the House Oversight Committee’s Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The Clintons’ attorneys issued a lengthy statement on Tuesday saying the couple would not appear before Congress to answer questions. The letter argued that the former president and first lady had “already provided the limited information they possess about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the Committee,” and that the committee’s subpoenas “are invalid and legally unenforceable.” Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Former President Bill Clinton refused to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday after he and former first lady Hillary Clinton were subpoenaed to appear for a closed-door hearing on their relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
House Oversight Republicans, led by Kentucky Rep. James Comer, said they will seek to hold the former president in contempt of Congress next week.
&#8220;As a result of Bill Clinton not showing up for his lawful subpoena, which again was voted unanimously by the committee in a bipartisan manner, we will move next week in the House Oversight Committee markup to hold former President Clinton in contempt of Congress,&#8221; Comer said.
&#8220;I think everyone knows by now Bill Clinton did not show up,&#8221; Comer added. &#8220;No one&#8217;s accusing Bill Clinton of any wrongdoing. We just have questions. And that&#8217;s why the Democrats voted, along with Republicans, to subpoena Bill Clinton.&#8221;
Hillary Clinton is scheduled to testify on Wednesday, but it also appears that she will not comply with the subpoena, according to a letter the Clintons sent to Comer.
“Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences,” the Clintons wrote in the letter, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/01/13/us/politics/clinton-legal-letter-comer.html">according</a> to The New York Times. “For us, now is that time.”
The lengthy letter, which was sent by the Clintons&#8217; attorneys, argued that the former president and first lady had &#8220;already provided the limited information they possess about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the Committee.&#8221; They also claimed that the committee&#8217;s subpoenas &#8220;are invalid and legally unenforceable, untethered to a valid legislative purpose, unwarranted because they do not seek pertinent information, and an unprecedented infringement on the separation of powers.&#8221;
The Clintons were initially scheduled to appear before Congress in mid-December, but Comer moved their testimonies to January 13 and 14 to accommodate their funeral obligation. After receiving a subpoena to appear before the committee, the Clintons&#8217; lawyer asked if they could submit “a written proffer of what little information” they have on Epstein. Comer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congress-just-ordered-the-clintons-to-face-epstein-depositions-heres-when-theyll-be-grilled">denied</a> that request in November and ordered the Clintons to appear for their depositions.
Epstein, whose past relationship with President Donald Trump has been scrutinized over the past year, was also friends with the Clintons. Bill Clinton traveled on Epstein&#8217;s infamous private jet with the disgraced financier and his associate Maxwell multiple times. Clinton was also photographed receiving a back massage from then-22-year-old Epstein accuser Chauntae Davies.
There is no evidence that Hillary traveled with Epstein, and neither Bill nor Hillary has been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein’s sex crimes. Bill Clinton&#8217;s relationship with Epstein, however, is back in the spotlight as the Department of Justice has begun releasing more files and photos from the Epstein estate. Some of the images <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-clinton-responds-to-shocking-photos-in-epstein-file-dump">show</a> Clinton swimming in a pool alongside Maxwell, and in another, he is in a hot tub with a woman whose face is redacted.
President Trump, who also used to be a friend of Epstein&#8217;s, has accused Clinton of visiting Epstein&#8217;s island, a claim that Clinton denies. But Trump <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-on-release-epstein-files-photos-clinton-others/">said</a> last month that he didn&#8217;t like the pictures of Clinton being released to the public.
&#8220;I think Bill Clinton&#8217;s a big boy, he can handle it,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;But you probably have pictures being exposed of other people that innocently met Jeffrey Epstein years ago &#8230; and they&#8217;re highly respected bankers and lawyers and others.&#8221;
In a statement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-clinton-responds-to-shocking-photos-in-epstein-file-dump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responding</a> to the photos, Clinton&#8217;s chief of staff, Angel Ureña, said that the former president &#8220;knew nothing and cut Epstein off before his crimes came to light.&#8221;
“The White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months only to dump them late on a Friday to protect Bill Clinton,” Ureña added. “This is about shielding themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever. So they can release as many grainy, 20-plus-year-old photos as they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton. Never has, never will be.”

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has launched a sweeping investigation into alleged systemic fraud and misuse of federal funds in Minnesota’s social services programs. The inquiry is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2026. This initial session will feature testimony from Minnesota state lawmakers, including Republican Reps. Kristin Robbins, Walter Hudson, and Marion Rarick, who claim that their prior warnings about fiscal misconduct were ignored by state leadership.

Kathy Hochul to explain why New York City public schools are using curriculum and instructional materials funded by Qatar and what they describe as “malign domestic actors.” The GOP lawmakers argue that the New York City Department of Education has refused to release materials related to the September 11 attacks and the October 7 Hamas massacre, leaving Hochul as the only authority able to compel transparency.
“The [NYC] DOE has refused to provide copies of teaching materials that twist the narratives of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and the Hamas-led massacre on October 7, 2023, in Israel,” Stefanik and Comer wrote in a letter obtained by the New York Post.
The lawmakers zeroed in on $1 million from Qatar Foundation International flowing to P.S. 261 in Cobble Hill and P.S./I.S. 30 in Bay Ridge, as well as on materials from Bridging Cultures, run by Dr. Debbie Almontaser, who is also the head of the Muslim Community Network (MCN). Stefanik and Comer allege MCN has a history of downplaying Islamist violence, opposing funding for the National 9/11 Memorial &amp; Museum, and vilifying anyone highlighting radical Islam’s role in the attacks. Bridging Cultures has conducted workshops on the Hamas attacks, which the lawmakers say “erases Israeli suffering.” Combined, MCN and Bridging Cultures have collected at least $14.7 million from New York City since 2014.
“The NYC DOE partnered with Bridging Cultures to train teachers on how to speak to students about 10/7, the war in Gaza, and the anti-Israel protest movement,” Stefanik and Comer said.

Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, were ordered to appear before Congress for depositions on the Jeffrey Epstein probe next month after the two powerful Democrats attempted to avoid the House Oversight Committee&#8217;s grilling.
The Clintons&#8217; lawyer wrote a letter to the House Oversight Committee on November 3 in an attempt to get the former president and former Secretary of State out of testifying in person. The Clintons&#8217; attorney asked if they could simply submit “a written proffer of what little information” they have on Epstein. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) <a href="https://x.com/RepJamesComer/status/1991877484208595253">denied</a> that request on Friday and ordered the Clintons to appear for their depositions on December 17 and 18.
&#8220;As your letter indicates, both President Clinton and Secretary Clinton possess information relevant to the Committee&#8217;s investigation,&#8221; Comer wrote to the Clintons&#8217; attorney, David Kendall.
&#8220;Additionally, your suggestion that your clients’ testimony would not be relevant to the stated purposes of the Committee’s investigation because the events in question took place outside of the Clintons’ respective official duties, misses the Committee’s point,&#8221; Comer added. &#8220;It is precisely the fact President Clinton and Secretary Clinton each maintained relationships with Mr. Epstein and Ms. [Ghislaine] Maxwell in their personal capacities as private citizens that is of interest to the Committee.&#8221;
Former President Clinton is scheduled to appear before the committee at 10:00 a.m. on December 17, while the former first lady is set to appear at 10:00 a.m. on December 18.

Trump has suggested that Bill Clinton visited Epstein&#8217;s island in the Virgin Islands, but the former president has denied that he ever set foot on the island. In an email released by the House Oversight Committee earlier this month, Epstein wrote that Bill Clinton &#8220;was NEVER EVER there, never.&#8221;
There is no evidence that Hillary traveled with Epstein, and neither Bill nor Hillary has been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes.
The Clintons&#8217; attorney stated in his November 3 letter that both Bill and Hillary &#8220;welcome legitimate oversight,&#8221; seeking to uncover the truth behind Epstein&#8217;s and Maxwell&#8217;s crimes. The attorney added that the Clintons &#8220;have little to contribute to that legitimate goal, all of which can be readily submitted on paper.&#8221;

Trump said the tariff rate on China would be reduced from 57% to 47% after a high-stakes meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in South Korea. In return, he said China promised to purchase American soybeans, sorghum, and other farm products and stop the flow of fentanyl into the United States.
“I had a truly great meeting with President Xi of China. There is enormous respect between our two Countries, and that will only be enhanced with what just took place,” Trump posted on Truth Social after the meeting. “We agreed on many things, with others, even of high importance, being very close to resolved.”

Trump added that China had agreed to “continue the flow” of rare earth minerals used in products ranging from cell phones to fighter jets. China had been looking to implement strict export controls on the minerals.
The meeting began late Wednesday night by United States time. 
Just minutes before the meeting began, President Trump issued a stunning social media <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115460423936412555">post</a>, saying, “Because of other countries testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis. That process will begin immediately.”
The U.S. has not tested any nuclear weapons for the last 33 years. The timing of that message is no accident. In the last week alone, Vladimir Putin announced that Russia had successfully tested nuclear-powered, nuclear-capable cruise missiles, along with a nuclear-capable torpedo. 
North Korea also claims to have conducted missile tests of its own. But this appears to be directed at Xi, who has overseen a historic nuclear buildup in China, growing its arsenal at an alarming pace. Topline: The House Oversight Committee has recommended that the Justice Department investigate the Biden White House’s use of an autopen to sign official presidential actions. In a 100-page <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/oversight-committee-releases-report-on-the-biden-autopen-presidency/">report</a> released this week, Republicans charged Biden staffers with covering up for an increasingly senile president and taking action without his knowledge.
Republicans want the DOJ to take a deep look at former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen because many of the actions Biden took – or appeared to take – may not have been valid. Committee Chairman James Comer asked Attorney General Pam Bondi for a “comprehensive review of all executive actions taken during the Biden presidency.”
Comer also asked for special attention to be paid to White House doctor Kevin O’Connor, deputy chief of staff Annie Tomasini, and senior adviser to the first lady Anthony Bernal. They all pleaded the Fifth during the House investigation.
Comer v. O’Connor: Comer sent a letter to the D.C. Board of Medicine asking for a review of O&#8217;Connor’s work as the chief White House doctor. The report says testimony indicates that O’Connor “may have succumbed to political pressure” and hid Biden’s health decline from the American people.
Comer said the medical board should consider whether O’Connor “issu[ed] misleading medical reports, misrepresent[ed] treatments, or [failed] to conform to standards of practice” in violation of D.C. law. If any violations are found, the D.C. Board of Medicine could discipline O’Connor or even <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/28/us-news/biden-white-house-doctor-kevin-oconnor-referred-for-investigation-of-ex-prez-health-cover-up-could-lose-license/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter">revoke</a> his medical license.

Topline: Canada’s euthanasia program is rapidly expanding, with some groups calling for minors as young as 12 years old to be included in the government-funded program. 
MAiD, or Medical Assistance in Dying, is effectively an euthanasia program funded by the Canadian government. It began in 2016 for people whose natural death was “reasonably foreseeable” and who wanted to end their lives. The program has only expanded since, particularly in 2021, when chronic illness and disability became included as reasons for someone to be euthanized. 
Since its inception, more people have undergone these procedures. Thousands of Canadians now do this annually.
Efforts to expand MAiD: Advocates want children 12 years and older to have access to MAiD. Current rules state that one must be 18 years old to be considered for this procedure.
The general argument is that children need more autonomy in health care, and the MAiD program is supposedly about “compassion.” Advocates also noted that minors can already consent or refuse certain treatments, so permitting this would be consistent. Finally, advocates will point to the Netherlands, where assisted dying for “mature minors” has been legal since 2002.
As for consent, one advocacy group called “Dying With Dignity Canada” recommends that minors between 12 and 15 years old have parental permission to be euthanized. It does not recommend that as a requirement for minors aged 16 and 17, however.
Morning Wire spoke to Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, a psychiatrist, author, and a director at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, about the euthanasia movement.
“Once you cross the line of allowing doctors to kill patients, once you cross the line of accepting the basic premise of the euthanasia movement, which is that some lives are not worth living and therefore these people should be killed by the medical profession, then it&#8217;s very hard to argue that there should be any limitations to that,” said Kheriaty.
In addition to advocating for minors to be permitted in the program, there is a strong push to include people who suffer solely from mental health issues. That section is set to take effect in 2027. 
Euthanasia is not legal in the U.S.; however, several states do permit assisted suicide. This is a domestic movement that is worth watching closely and has undoubtedly been influenced by our neighbors up north.

The retirement savings of millions of federal workers are being weaponized to push climate change and DEI mandates, a watchdog warned lawmakers. 
Financial asset giants BlackRock and State Street are leveraging their management over billions of dollars in federal employees’ retirement savings to push left-wing politics, according to a Monday <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2025/09/Hild-Letter-to-SCHSGA-and-HCOGR-RE-TSP.pdf">letter</a> to top Republican lawmakers from Consumers’ Research obtained by The Daily Wire. The pair manages around $668 billion in federal retirement savings through the Thrift Savings Plan, the federal government’s version of a 401(k) plan. 
“Asset managers like BlackRock using Americans’ hard-earned money to unfairly and illegally push radical political agendas without consent is hardly a new problem, but their control of most of the Thrift Savings Plan takes the scandal to a new level,” Consumers’ Research executive director Will Hild told The Daily Wire. “Flagrantly violating fiduciary duty with federal employee dollars begs for congressional scrutiny and more.”

The letter was sent to House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chair Rand Paul (R-KY). It requested that the lawmakers investigate the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), the agency that administers the Thrift Savings Plan program. 
The letter says that the agency “has contracted with asset managers and proxy advisors that have pursued goals to impose emissions reductions and diversity quotas on companies, rather than focus solely on financial returns as required” by federal law. 
“Examples of BlackRock’s and State Street’s harmful conduct include: (1) using proxy voting power to push companies to adopt emissions targets; (2) maintaining commitments to climate-activist organizations in pursuit of Paris Agreement goals; (3) using internal proxy-voting guidelines that require using engagement and voting to pressure companies to align with net zero; (4) using pension fund assets to advance a net-zero agenda; and (5) succumbing to activist pressure to join climate groups and change their proxy voting to support activist proposals,” Hild wrote in the letter. 
An example of political policies being pushed by BlackRock included <a href="https://www.blackrock.com/corporate/literature/publication/annual-stewardship-report-2024.pdf">voting</a> in 2024 for a shareholder proposal to require Cracker Barrel to establish and publish greenhouse gas emissions targets. It backed similar proposals for companies like Jack in the Box, Wingstop, and Denny’s. 
Hild cited previous <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20241226122512/https:/www.ssga.com/library-content/assets/pdf/global/asset-stewardship/proxy-voting-and-engagement-policy.pdf">policies</a> by State Street to generally oppose company boards that are not “composed of at least 30-percent female directors” and “at least one director from an underrepresented racial/ethnic community.”
In recent years, BlackRock has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blackrock-makes-major-change-after-backlash-against-woke-investing">backed away</a> from some of its more recent pushes for activist investing after widespread backlash. In April 2024, the Committee to Unleash Prosperity gave BlackRock a &#8220;B&#8221; for its voting record on &#8220;extreme&#8221; shareholder proposals, up from a &#8220;C&#8221; the previous year. The same report grades State Street as a &#8220;C.&#8221;
&#8220;BlackRock’s CEO, Larry Fink, had been one of the leading voices in support of ESG a few years ago. But last year, under pressure from groups like ours and others, he began to retreat from its ESG advocacy on proxy voting as shareholder proposals have become more extreme,&#8221; the report found.
BlackRock&#8217;s recent global voting <a href="https://www.blackrock.com/corporate/literature/publication/2025-investment-stewardship-voting-spotlight.pdf">spotlight</a> also highlighted that it voted with corporate management on 209 out of 214 votes in the Americas on climate and natural capital. &#8220;We again found that many of these proposals were over-reaching, lacked economic merit, or sought outcomes that were unlikely to promote long-term financial value,&#8221; the report said.
The letter also states that the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board relies on the Institutional Shareholder Services, a proxy advisory firm, for analysis of BlackRock and State Street’s proxy voting record. The firm is also “committed to environmental activism and imposing quotas on company boards,” Hild wrote. 
The agency utilizes quarterly analysis from the Institutional Shareholder Services to ensure that BlackRock and State Street vote in line with their written guidelines. 
“Reliance on ISS is contrary to [federal law’s] sole-interest standard, as ISS pursues an agenda that is incompatible with shareholder value and has made commitments to incorporate ESG into its processes. Contracting with ISS also raises concerns about ISS’s role in recommending votes that would inject race- and sex-based considerations into companies’ practices, which potentially violates federal and state civil rights laws,” Hild wrote. 
Hild wants Congress to press the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board to ensure that federal workers’ retirement savings are not being used to push politics. 
“The [FRTIB] owes the public answers, starting with whether it broke the law by allowing these notoriously woke firms to fund their ESG activism with millions of federal workers&#8217; savings. The longer that firms like BlackRock freely manage Thrift Saving Plan assets, the greater the danger to so many Americans&#8217; retirement security,” he said.

The Republican-led House Oversight Committee released tens of thousands of documents related to the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein on Tuesday.
The Department of Justice provided the <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/oversight-committee-releases-epstein-records-provided-by-the-department-of-justice/">records</a> under subpoena from committee chairman James Comer of Kentucky. The document dump consisted of 33,295 pages.
Speaking to reporters following the release, Comer <a href="https://x.com/Breaking911/status/1963011925358608801">said</a> that the committee continues to expand its investigation into notable figures, such as former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, who, as a prosecutor, negotiated a controversial plea deal with Epstein in 2008. The committee is working on releasing other records, as well.
“We&#8217;re gonna continue to bring in more people. We learned of some additional names today,” said Comer. “We&#8217;re gonna do everything we can to give the American public the transparency they seek, as well as provide accountability in memory of the victims who have already passed away, as well as those that were in the room, and many others who haven&#8217;t come forward.”
Comer thanked the White House for working with House lawmakers to make the documents available for release.
“The White House is working with us. I wanna publicly thank the White House for turning over so many documents thus far,” said Comer.
The committee has subpoenaed a number of high-profile figures already, including former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Comer <a href="https://x.com/DailyCaller/status/1962989269351309574">added</a> that the committee plans to subpoena Epstein’s madam Ghislaine Maxwell, as well.
The Department of Justice <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ghislaine-maxwell-reveals-whether-she-believes-epstein-committed-suicide">interviewed</a> Maxwell and released the tapes of that interview last month. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche conducted the interview, and Maxwell’s testimony backs up some of what the Justice Department has said about Epstein’s case, such as the lack of an Epstein “client list.”
Maxwell also told Blanche that she never saw any man, including President Donald Trump nor Clinton, behave inappropriately around Epstein.
“I never, ever saw any man doing something inappropriate with a woman of any age. I never saw inappropriate habits,” Maxwell told Blanche. “Now somebody’s inappropriate and mine may be different.”
“Trump was always very cordial and very kind to me,” she added. “And I just want to say that I find — I — I admire his extraordinary achievement in becoming the president now. And I like him, and I’ve always liked him. So that is the sum and substance of my entire relationship with him.”

The Department of Justice (DOJ) will begin handing over documents regarding deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to Congress by the end of the week, House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced on Monday.
Comer shared the development one day before the deadline listed in the <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/2025.08.05-Subpoena-and-Schedule-to-DOJ.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">subpoena</a> he issued to the DOJ.
“Officials with the Department of Justice have informed us that the Department will begin to provide Epstein-related records to the Oversight Committee this week on Friday,&#8221; Comer said in a statement.
&#8220;There are many records in DOJ’s custody, and it will take the Department time to produce all the records and ensure the identification of victims and any child sexual abuse material are redacted,&#8221; he added. &#8220;I appreciate the Trump Administration’s commitment to transparency and efforts to provide the American people with information about this matter.&#8221;
A spokesperson for the DOJ declined to comment.
Comer <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/congress-subpoenas-clintons-doj-records-and-former-officials-in-sweeping-epstein-investigation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">subpoenaed</a> the DOJ on August 5, the same day he issued subpoenas demanding Epstein-related testimony from former President Bill Clinton, his wife and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several ex-law enforcement leaders on dates ranging from mid-August to mid-October.

The Oversight Committee also issued a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-subpoenas-epstein-associate-ghislaine-maxwell">subpoena</a> to Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/ghislaine-maxwell-sentenced-20-years-prison-conspiring-jeffrey-epstein-sexually-abuse">a 20-year prison sentence</a> after being found guilty of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls, but has yet to finalize details for a deposition after she <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ghislaine-maxwell-sends-congress-list-of-demands-for-deposition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded</a> immunity and other &#8220;conditions.&#8221;
All of the subpoenas were approved by members of the Oversight Committee before Comer sent them out.
Epstein, a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender, was found dead at the age of 66 in his New York City jail cell in 2019 — after being arrested on sex trafficking charges involving young girls. In addition to the Clintons, Epstein had connections to a variety of high-profile people, including President Donald Trump. The Clintons and Trump have sought to distance themselves from Epstein over the years.
In his <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/2025.08.05-Subpoena-Cover-Letters.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cover letters</a>, Comer explained how the Clinton family &#8220;appears to have had a close relationship&#8221; with Epstein and Maxwell. To the former law enforcement heads, the chairman noted the various ways the FBI and DOJ were involved in investigations, litigation, and other matters related to Epstein and Maxwell during their tenures.
The first deposition took place on Monday with former Attorney General William Barr, who was cooperative while answering questions from both Republican and Democratic staff and members, a source familiar with the matter told The Daily Wire.
Barr made clear that Trump never provided any views or instructions related to the criminal case against Epstein or his death, and that he never saw any evidence suggesting Trump committed a crime, according to the source, who added that Barr further stated that he believed the Biden DOJ would have released any incriminating evidence against Trump if such evidence existed.
The Daily Wire confirmed with a House Oversight Committee aide that the panel intends to withdraw its subpoena to former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who also served as special counsel of the Trump-Russia investigation from 2017 to 2019, because it learned that health issues preclude him from being able to testify. The Daily Caller was the first to <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2025/08/18/robert-mueller-house-oversight-committee-subpoena-james-comer-jeffrey-epstein-fbi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> the development.
Lawmakers have increasingly pushed for transparency after the DOJ claimed it had no evidence that Epstein had a client list, blackmailed powerful people, or was murdered — despite earlier <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/shes-great-trump-backs-bondi-wants-top-officials-to-end-conflict-over-epstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hints</a> from Attorney General Pam Bondi that major bombshells would be revealed.
At the behest of Trump, who has argued that people are falling for a “hoax” spun by the Democrats, Bondi asked multiple judges to unseal grand jury testimony from the cases against Epstein and Maxwell. So far, those requests have been denied.
The DOJ held a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/justice-department-meets-with-ghislaine-maxwell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meeting</a> with Maxwell in July.

For the last decade, state attorneys general&#8217;s offices across the country have waged lawfare against energy producers and suppliers, using state statutes to <a href="https://www.eenews.net/articles/state-ags-rebuked-for-soliciting-billionaires-in-climate-cases/">issue lawsuits</a> seeking maximum financial penalties for climate liability, including <a href="https://stateline.org/2024/04/04/after-a-long-slog-climate-change-lawsuits-will-finally-put-big-oil-on-trial/">high-profile cases</a> in Hawaii and Minnesota against oil and gas giants.
Many lawyers and staff in these offices have been trained by ideological climate change university <a href="https://stateimpactcenter.org/ag-work/ag-actions">programs</a> like the State Energy &amp; Environmental Impact Center at NYU, funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the giving arm of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s financial empire.
In the probe announced <a href="https://oversight.house.gov/release/comer-investigates-bloomberg-philanthropies-for-partisan-activism-with-state-attorneys-general/">in July</a>, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is putting the congressional microscope on these shady programs, revealing how harmful they have been to keeping energy costs low. They’ve already demonstrated the significant influence these programs had within President Biden’s administration.
“The Bloomberg-NYU partisan agenda will likely hurt working-class Americans in the name of the partisan globalist climate-agenda,” said Comer, adding that the partisan climate law agenda “undermines faith” in the impartial justice system.
It’s no coincidence that David Hayes, the former executive director of NYU’s climate litigation program, was a <a href="https://www.law.nyu.edu/news/david-hayes-biden-special-assistant-president-climate">top climate advisor</a> to Biden in his single term.
It’s the right moment to seek <a href="https://subscriber.politicopro.com/article/eenews/2025/07/22/house-gop-takes-aim-at-dcs-climate-lawsuit-eed-00465782">accountability</a> for the failed energy policies of the Biden Administration and the well-funded law school networks that sustain and push petty climate litigation, and both the legislative and executive branches are right to do so.
Our judicial system has been captured by ideological interests that seek to force consumers to live with fewer and costlier options when it comes to powering their homes and businesses.
The climate lawfare brigade purports to care about climate change and the environment, but their only goal so far has been to try to extract high-dollar settlements from energy suppliers. These symbolic wins for climate activists serve to drive up energy and electricity prices for consumers, as energy companies divert more resources to legal fees than to innovation and investment in new solutions.
Who is the winner in this scenario? Not everyday Americans.
Although consumers read headlines about “<a href="https://news.stanford.edu/stories/2018/03/case-questions-climate-change-culpability">climate culpability</a>&#8221; and <a href="https://stateimpactcenter.org/ag-work/pro-environment-federal-litigation">settlements</a> with energy companies brokered by blue-state AGs, these are cases about money and ideological points more than proving wrongdoing.
There is no attention paid to actual climate solutions that would benefit society at large. As we’ve seen from climate lawsuits <a href="https://www.newsobserver.com/news/business/article296546349.html">filed</a> against nuclear energy providers, a power source that is close to the most renewable and <a href="https://www.congress.gov/crs_external_products/R/PDF/R48480/R48480.2.pdf">sustainable</a> energy source on the planet, it’s really not about finding cleaner power sources either.
This is the same movement that notched a big win <a href="https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/07/1165475">last week</a> with the International Court of Justice issuing a ruling to mandate all countries curb their emissions or be held economically and legally liable in international law, a laughable case that the US will rightly <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/24/rubio-eliminates-climate-office-00308505">ignore</a>.
Ultimately, radical activists must reconcile with the fact that no one entity or person will ever be found to be the singular cause of climate change, because we’ve all been clients and willing customers. That&#8217;s why the Environmental Protection Agency is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/winning-trumps-epa-wrecks-the-radical-green-agenda">now moving to scrap</a> the 2009 &#8220;endangerment finding&#8221; for greenhouse gas emissions. A lawless administrative state has created a set of policies that incentivize the petty lawsuits being funded by fringe climate activists.
This makes the Comer investigation even more critical to all Americans concerned about the cost of living, and further underscores why we should consider federal lawfare liability reforms that would put most of these frivolous cases to rest. <a href="https://consumerchoicecenter.org/floridas-liability-lawfare-reform/">Some states,</a> such as Florida and Georgia, have already done this.
The Trump Administration and Congress have to stay laser-focused on this issue, as well as other kitchen-table concerns that drove Americans to the polls last November. Affordability, particularly when it comes to keeping consumers’ lights on, should always be top of mind.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ghislaine-maxwell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ghislaine Maxwell</a>, a longtime companion to deceased sex offender <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jeffrey-epstein" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jeffrey Epstein</a>, is threatening to refuse cooperation with Congress if she is not granted immunity or given other concessions for a deposition.
The demands were outlined in a <a href="https://x.com/yashar/status/1950250996946633126" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> sent on Tuesday to House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) after he issued a subpoena last week to Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse underage girls.
David Oscar Markus, Maxwell&#8217;s attorney, wrote that their &#8220;initial reaction&#8221; to the subpoena, which seeks a deposition with at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, on August 11, was that his client would &#8220;invoke her Fifth Amendment rights and decline to testify at this time.&#8221; But, he added, &#8220;further reflection&#8221; led them to offer &#8220;conditions&#8221; that would make it possible for Maxwell to cooperate.
The committee questioning Maxwell in prison and without a grant of immunity are &#8220;non-starters,&#8221; Markus warned. He said Maxwell &#8220;cannot risk further criminal exposure in a politically charged environment&#8221; and warned the potential for leaks from prison would create &#8220;real security risks and undermines the integrity of the process.&#8221; Markus also wrote that Maxwell would require questions in advance and requested the deposition be scheduled after the Supreme Court <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/epstein-accomplice-rolls-dice-with-supreme-court-appeals-to-get-conviction-tossed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">decides</a> on his client&#8217;s petition seeking to overturn her conviction.
&#8220;Of course, in the alternative, if Ms. Maxwell were to receive clemency, she would be willing — and eager — to testify openly and honestly, in public, before Congress in Washington, D.C.,&#8221; Markus wrote. &#8220;She welcomes the opportunity to share the truth and to dispel the many misconceptions and misstatements that have plagued this case from the beginning.&#8221;
So far, it does not appear Comer is willing to accept the full extent of Maxwell&#8217;s demands, which follow <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/justice-department-meets-with-ghislaine-maxwell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">meetings</a> with the Department of Justice.
&#8220;The Oversight Committee will respond to Ms. Maxwell’s attorney soon, but it will not consider granting congressional immunity for her testimony,&#8221; a spokesperson for the panel <a href="https://x.com/MacFarlaneNews/status/1950246277163196701" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> reporters.
A House Oversight panel also voted last week to subpoena files regarding Epstein and testimony from former President Bill Clinton, his wife and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several ex-law enforcement leaders. Comer later <a href="https://x.com/RepJamesComer/status/1948458870721884243" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> his committee was preparing to comply with the decision.
