Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has a breaking point — and he laid it out bluntly in a Wednesday night <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6399969120112">sit-down</a> with Sean Hannity on Fox News. The outspoken Pennsylvania Democrat said there&#8217;s exactly one thing that could push him out of his own party: if Democrats formally declared, as part of their party platform, that Israel has no right to defend itself or exist.
“For me, what my real concern is the Democratic Party is going to and put it into the platform, you know, is an anti-Israel party, that Israel does not have the right to defend itself and to exist,” he declared. “And the second that becomes a formal part of our platform, that&#8217;s the one thing that would push me out of this party because I&#8217;m deeply alarmed the way the Democratic party is going after Israel and allowing rank antisemitism to just flourish in the Left on the campuses as well.”
Fetterman pointed to Colorado Democrat Melat Kiros, a socialist who won her primary over a 15-term incumbent earlier this week. Kiros recently dodged questions about a firebombing attack on Jewish demonstrators rallying for hostages. She also said 9/11 was the result of American foreign policy and argued that October 7 was “the inevitable consequence of apartheid.” That kind of rhetoric, Fetterman warned, is becoming disturbingly common on the Left and on college campuses — and if it ever gets codified into official Democratic policy, he&#8217;s out.
The Hannity appearance is just the latest chapter in Fetterman&#8217;s increasingly public break from his party&#8217;s mainstream on foreign policy. In June, he <a href="https://jewishinsider.com/2026/06/fetterman-warns-trump-iran-deal-nuclear/">warned</a> that President Donald Trump might be tempted to accept a watered-down nuclear deal with Iran, one that leaves Tehran&#8217;s uranium stockpile intact. Fetterman insists he isn&#8217;t going independent or flipping parties — he still considers himself a &#8220;regular Democrat.&#8221; But between his hawkish stance on Israel and Iran, his border security views, and his shutdown criticism, he acknowledges he now finds himself lining up more with Republicans than with his own leadership.

At least 28 drones have successfully entered the Gaza Strip in recent months despite dozens of Israeli interception efforts, <a href="https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/defense-news/article-901044#google_vignette">raising concerns</a> among Israeli security officials that many of them could be used by Hamas terrorists.
Army Radio reported Wednesday that the drones crossed into Gaza through multiple routes, including from Egypt and from within Israel. According to the report, Israeli defense officials believe most of the drones that successfully entered the strip ultimately reached Hamas, though it remains unknown what cargo many of them were carrying.
Israeli officials say the drones themselves could become valuable operational assets even if they were not transporting weapons or other supplies. According to Army Radio, Hamas has increasingly used drones to observe Israeli troop movements and carry out attacks by attaching explosives to the aircraft.
The report said Israeli authorities have thwarted 89 drone smuggling attempts since January. Combined with the 28 drones believed to have entered Gaza, that represents at least 117 known drone smuggling operations during the first half of the year. Israeli officials also cautioned that the figures only include known cases, meaning the real number of attempted or successful smuggling operations could be higher.
&#8220;The IDF claims that all smuggling attempts intercepted so far contained drugs only,&#8221; Army Radio reported. &#8220;However, as noted, dozens were not intercepted, and these figures represent only the cases known to the military.&#8221;
The report added that Israeli officials acknowledge some drones may have entered Gaza without ever being detected. <a href="https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/429465">Security officials also said</a> it is impossible to determine what the drones that reached Gaza were carrying, according to Israel National News.
Israeli authorities have recently stepped up efforts to disrupt the smuggling networks. In June, Israel Police and the Defense Ministry confiscated property linked to drone smuggling into Gaza, while Defense Minister Israel Katz imposed economic sanctions on individuals accused of participating in the operations.
&#8220;Anyone who smuggles weapons, equipment, or funds to terrorist organizations in Gaza is part of the terrorist network itself and will pay a heavy price,&#8221; Katz said in a statement.
<a href="https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/defense-news/article-897758">The concerns come as Israeli military leaders</a> continue to warn about the growing role of drones in modern warfare. Hamas is reportedly studying Hezbollah&#8217;s use of explosive drones in Lebanon, where such attacks have killed 16 Israeli soldiers and wounded many more in recent months, according to the Jerusalem Post.
In May, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir described Hezbollah&#8217;s first-person-view drone capabilities as &#8220;a challenge&#8221; but said the military already has &#8220;operational and technological solutions&#8221; in development to counter the threat.
&#8220;The drone threat is a challenge, but we will overcome it,&#8221; Zamir said. &#8220;The battlefield is unpredictable and always will be, but we are dedicating the IDF&#8217;s best resources, minds, and capabilities to this issue.&#8221;
Israeli officials have increasingly pointed to drones as one of the evolving threats facing the military, both from Hezbollah in Lebanon and from Hamas in Gaza, as armed groups continue adapting commercially available technology for military purposes.

An American citizen has been arrested in Israel for allegedly spying on behalf of Iranian intelligence, Israeli authorities announced Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as a U.S. citizen in his 20s, was taken into custody on June 9, 2026, following a joint operation by the Israel Police and the Shin Bet. According to a joint statement, the arrest was triggered by intelligence flags raised by international security organizations. 

The young man’s assignments reportedly included photographing and documenting “sensitive sites” across Israel in exchange for payments ranging from tens to hundreds of dollars per task.
The investigation, which was conducted under a strict, sweeping gag order by the Jerusalem District Police’s Central Unit, revealed that the suspect had been in active contact with Iranian intelligence handlers over the past several months. To allow authorities to investigate, a Jerusalem court repeatedly extended his detention over the last three weeks.
With the investigation complete, prosecutors have filed a formal statement against the suspect, clearing the way for a formal indictment in the coming days.
Prosecutors are expected to request that he be kept in custody until legal proceedings are concluded, <a href="https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/article-900984">reported the Jerusalem Post</a>.
“In recent months, several defendants suspected of spying for the enemy have been exposed, some of whom allegedly acted during wartime and thereby assisted the enemy in advancing its plans within Israel,” Chief Inspector Amichai Panta, an investigations officer in the Jerusalem District’s central unit, reportedly said.
The arrest highlights a growing trend of espionage orchestrated by Tehran. According to a 2025 Shin Bet annual summary cited by The Jerusalem Post, security forces disrupted 120 separate Iranian intelligence operations and indicted 25 individuals on related espionage charges. In many of the cases, individuals are contacted through social media and receive small payments for various spying tasks.

In the roughly 30 years after Israel declared its independence in 1948, approximately 850,000 to 900,000 Jews fled, migrated, or were expelled from Arab countries (and around one million if you include non-Arab Muslim nations like Iran and Turkey).
The underlying numbers on Christian persecution are grimly real and well-documented.
In Iraq and Syria, ISIS waged a campaign against religious minorities so brutal that the State Department, the U.N., and the European Parliament all formally branded it genocide. Churches were leveled, ancient Assyrian and Chaldean communities were gutted, and hundreds of thousands of Christians fled Mosul as militants offered them a grim choice: convert, pay a medieval-style tax, or die. Iraq&#8217;s Christian population has cratered from about 1.5 million before the 2003 war to a sliver of that now.
Yazidis fared even worse. <a href="https://www.savethechildren.net/news/about-1300-yazidi-children-still-missing-10-years-after-genocide">Save The Children</a> reported, &#8220;The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) killed, captured, and displaced <a href="https://www.ohchr.org/sites/default/files/Documents/HRBodies/HRCouncil/CoISyria/A_HRC_32_CRP.2_en.pdf">all 400,000 Yazidi people</a> living in Sinjar on 3 August 2014 in a genocide that disproportionately affected children. About 10,000 Yazidis were killed or abducted, <a href="https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1002297">half of all those executed were children</a>, according to a report by multi-national researchers in the journal PLoS Medicine.&#8221;
Egypt&#8217;s Coptic Christians, among the oldest Christian communities on Earth, have endured a <a href="https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/egypt-s-copts-warn-of-surging-violence-as-houses-torched">relentless string of attacks</a>, from the 2017 Palm Sunday church bombings that killed dozens to a deadly ambush on a busload of pilgrims the same year. Watchdog groups say Minya Governorate, a region in upper Egypt, has become a flashpoint for sectarian violence, with Coptic churches forced to shutter under threat and intimidation.
And in Nigeria, advocacy organizations <a href="https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/36727/html/">estimate</a> that more than 37,500 people have died since Boko Haram&#8217;s insurgency erupted in 2009, with Fulani militant violence adding thousands more victims — a toll some rights groups insist is driven chiefly by religious hatred, even as Nigerian officials and other observers dispute that characterization.
Kennedy sees the picture clearly: the true erasure of ancient minority communities is happening outside of Israel&#8217;s borders, not within them.

Mamdani had the nerve to lump Israel in with Saudi Arabia as states that &#8220;privilege one religion&#8221; at the expense of others. Never mind that Israel&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gov.il/en/pages/declaration-of-establishment-state-of-israel">Declaration of Independence</a> — its founding charter — explicitly guarantees &#8220;complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex&#8221; and promises to safeguard the holy places of every faith. Saudi Arabia? It bans churches. Israel has them built. The comparison is an insult to anyone paying attention.
And Israel doesn&#8217;t just make promises on paper. Arab citizens — Muslim and Christian — make up 20% of the population. They vote, they sit in the Knesset, they serve on the Supreme Court. Jerusalem&#8217;s holiest sites, including Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Western Wall, are all protected and accessible under Israeli rule. Muslim authorities even retain administrative control of the Temple Mount, the holiest site in all of Judaism.
Where else in the Middle East does that kind of religious pluralism exist? Nowhere Mamdani seems interested in talking about.
Now look at his beloved Palestinian cause. Under Palestinian Authority control in the West Bank, Israeli civilians — read: Jews — are flatly banned from entering Area A. Banned. Not discouraged. Not warned. Barred outright. This in a territory containing some of Judaism&#8217;s most sacred ground: the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, the Tomb of Rachel, the Tomb of Joseph — sites of Jewish worship for thousands of years. If Mamdani spent even a fraction of his outrage on that exclusion, maybe his &#8220;equal rights for all faiths&#8221; routine would be worth taking seriously — but he doesn&#8217;t.
And then there&#8217;s the silence that truly damns him. Mamdani tossed out Saudi Arabia as a rhetorical fig leaf, but couldn&#8217;t bring himself to utter the name of Israel&#8217;s most bloodthirsty enemy: Iran. The hall of the United Nations Human Rights Council fell into an uneasy silence earlier this week as a small woman walked to the microphone and prepared to do something the world&#8217;s most powerful human rights body had failed to do: bear witness.
Ilana Gritzewsky, a survivor of Hamas&#8217; October 7 massacre, stood before Reem Alsalem — the U.N.&#8217;s own special rapporteur on violence against women, who is Jordanian — and refused to be erased.
What followed was one of the most searing moments in recent U.N. history, not because of what the diplomat said in response.
Because of what she didn&#8217;t say.
Gritzewsky recounted the morning terrorists stormed her kibbutz — the murders, the burning, the kidnapping. She described being touched, beaten, and sexually abused until she lost consciousness, waking half-naked with seven Hamas fighters standing over her. She described the broken hip, the broken jaw, the scarred soul she carried home from captivity. She spoke of how the wail of an air raid siren or the thunder of an Iranian rocket still hurls her back into that darkness.
&#8220;In captivity, Jewish women were raped, abused, and humiliated. And you, special rapporteur, you choose silence and denial. You say there was no evidence of sexual violence on October 7th,&#8221; she told Alsalem directly. &#8220;I&#8217;m standing here today, not as a report, not as a statistic. I am a woman who survived. I am the living proof of sexual violence by Hamas.&#8221;
Then she asked the question that hung over the chamber like smoke: &#8220;When I, another Israeli woman, begged not to be raped — why were you silent? Please look at me. Do you believe us now? Will you apologize?&#8221;
Alsalem sat silent after Gritzewsky&#8217;s testimony. She did not apologize.
She smirked.

The confrontation laid bare a record that is nothing short of a scandal. As U.N. Watch <a href="https://unwatch.org/analysis-of-reem-alsalems-violence-against-mothers-report-omissions-distortions-and-double-standards/">noted</a>, Alsalem publicly declared last November that &#8220;no independent investigation found that rape took place on October 7&#8221; — a claim directly contradicted by a U.N. report issued months earlier that found reasonable grounds to believe Hamas committed sexual violence during the attack, with an even higher evidentiary threshold met for assaults on hostages held in captivity. As recently as April 2026, she was still dismissing survivor testimony as &#8220;misinformation&#8221; deployed to &#8220;justify genocide against Palestinians.&#8221;
Her June 2026 report to the Human Rights Council, titled &#8220;Violence against Mothers,&#8221; completed the picture. It accused Israel of reproductive violence and genocide, cited a single article from an openly anti-Israel outlet, and lamented that U.S. and Israeli action against Iran might undermine Tehran&#8217;s record on women&#8217;s rights — a position that drew immediate ridicule from prominent Iranian women&#8217;s rights activist Masih Alinejad, who had publicly celebrated those same strikes. The report made no mention of Hamas. It said nothing of Israeli mothers murdered in front of their children, nothing of hostage families psychologically tortured for over two years, nothing of the deliberate phenomenon so systematic it has been given its own name: kinocide.

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), one of Congress&#8217;s most outspoken supporters of Israel, easily defeated a Left-wing primary challenger Tuesday night, surviving an effort by leftist activists to unseat him and drawing an angry response from anti-Israel communist commentator Hasan Piker.
Torres cruised to victory in New York&#8217;s 15th congressional district, defeating former state Assemblyman Michael Blake by a wide margin. With nearly all votes counted, Torres captured roughly 72% of the vote compared to Blake&#8217;s 22%.
The result represents a significant victory for one of the Democratic Party&#8217;s most prominent pro-Israel voices at a time when leftist activists have increasingly targeted lawmakers who support the Jewish state. Among those reacting furiously to the outcome was Left-wing streamer Piker, who has frequently clashed with Torres over Israel, antisemitism, and foreign policy.

Piker continued by warning Torres that he would continue scrutinizing the congressman&#8217;s pro-Israel positions. &#8220;Every day, every time there&#8217;s a decision that you can make where you are pro-Israel, I hope you remember. … You better act right, Ritchie.&#8221;
The remarks highlight a years-long feud between the congressman and one of the internet&#8217;s most influential leftist commentators.
Torres has repeatedly accused Piker of spreading antisemitic rhetoric and promoting anti-American extremism. In 2024, Torres sent a <a href="https://ritchietorres.house.gov/congressman-ritchie-torres-writes-to-executives-at-twitch-and-amazon-hasan-piker-is-dangerous">letter</a> to Twitch and Amazon executives condemning Piker, whom he described as a major source of antisemitic content online.
The congressman&#8217;s letter cited a series of controversial statements from Piker, including comments minimizing the significance of sexual violence committed during Hamas&#8217;s October 7 attack on Israel, remarks sympathetic to Hezbollah, and his infamous claim that &#8220;America deserved 9/11.&#8221;
Torres also accused Piker of platforming extremists and helping fuel the rise of antisemitism on social media.
Despite becoming a frequent target of attacks from his left flank, Torres has continued to carve out a unique position within the Democratic Party. The Bronx congressman formally broke with the Congressional Progressive Caucus in 2024 and has become one of the most forceful Democratic critics of anti-Israel activism.
Blake attempted to capitalize on growing dissatisfaction with Israel among Democratic voters and had previously aligned himself politically with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during last year&#8217;s mayoral race.
However, Mamdani notably stayed out of the congressional contest, depriving Blake of the endorsement many on the Left of Torres hoped would help unite the anti-Torres vote.
Torres also enjoyed a massive fundraising advantage throughout the campaign. Federal filings showed the congressman raising nearly $6.7 million compared to roughly $412,000 for Blake.
The decisive victory suggests that while socialist and leftist candidates scored several victories elsewhere in New York on Tuesday, efforts to oust Torres failed to gain meaningful traction among Democratic voters in the Bronx.
Instead, voters handed Torres another overwhelming primary victory and rejected one of the highest-profile attempts by the Democratic Party&#8217;s activists to punish a lawmaker for his support of Israel.
For Piker and other anti-Israel activists who have spent years attacking Torres online, Tuesday night&#8217;s results amounted to a clear setback. For Torres, they served as another demonstration that his brand of unapologetic support for Israel remains politically viable even as much of his party continues moving Left on the issue.

An Al Jazeera cameraman mourned as a journalist killed by Israel was also a Hamas sniper operative, <a href="https://x.com/IDF/status/2068442916977275317">according to the Israel Defense Forces</a>.
Ahmed Washah was killed Saturday in central Gaza after an Israeli drone targeted a home in the Bureij refugee camp. Al Jazeera and multiple media outlets described him as a cameraman for Al Jazeera Mubasher, Al Jazeera’s Arabic-language live channel. Al Jazeera said two other people were also killed and others were wounded.
But the IDF says Washah was not simply a journalist and was targeted in the strike because he was “a terrorist in Hamas’ military wing who served as a sniper operative.” The IDF also said Washah had recently advanced sniper attack plans and worked alongside his brother, Mohammed Washah, whom the military described as a key terrorist in Hamas’ rocket and weapons production headquarters. Ahmed was <a href="https://honestreporting.com/ahmad-washah-hamas-terrorist-who-masqueraded-as-an-al-jazeera-journalist/">reportedly</a> killed alongside Siba’i Abu Hasna, a member of Hamas’ <a href="https://honestreporting.com/ahmad-washah-hamas-terrorist-who-masqueraded-as-an-al-jazeera-journalist/">Shadow Unit</a>, which is responsible for guarding hostages kidnapped into Gaza.
Ahmed was widely presented as an Al Jazeera cameraman killed by Israel. While leaving out his ties to Hamas, NBC News <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/world/gaza/israeli-airstrike-kills-al-jazeera-cameraman-rcna350990">reported</a> that Ahmed was an Al Jazeera cameraman killed by Israel and noted that his brother Mohammed, an Al Jazeera Mubasher correspondent, was killed in a separate Israeli strike in April. Al Jazeera, meanwhile, <a href="https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/6/21/kind-principled-palestinian-journalists-remember-slain-gaza-journalist">said</a> Ahmed became the 12th network employee killed by Israel and said he had covered numerous stories for the outlet, including what Al Jazeera described as “several massacres” committed by Israel in Gaza.
The IDF <a href="https://x.com/IDF/status/2068442916977275317">posted</a> publicly that Ahmed “served as an Al Jazeera photojournalist” while simultaneously operating as a Hamas sniper. The IDF also described Mohammed as “a key terrorist in Hamas’ rocket and weapons production headquarters” and said he also operated “under the guise of an Al Jazeera journalist” before he was killed in April.
After the IDF’s claims about Ahmed were challenged online, it <a href="https://x.com/IDF/status/2069422062117003612">posted</a> a photo of his apparent military ID and a video showing him firing a rifle into the air. 
That context has received less attention from the legacy media than the initial description of Ahmed as a journalist killed by Israel. A Google AI Overview shown for a simple search of “Al Jazeera journalist” described Ahmed as “an Al Jazeera cameraman who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza” and listed him among “recent notable and slain journalists from the region.” The summary does not mention the IDF’s claim that he was a Hamas sniper operative.

The same pattern appeared in headlines from major outlets. NBC headlined its article, “<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/world/gaza/israeli-airstrike-kills-al-jazeera-cameraman-rcna350990">Al Jazeera cameraman killed in Gaza months after his journalist brother died in a separate strike</a>.” The Guardian’s headline read, “<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jun/20/al-jazeera-cameraman-ahmed-wishah-killed-in-israeli-strike-on-gaza">Al Jazeera cameraman Ahmed Wishah killed in Israeli strike on Gaza</a>.”
An Associated Press report carried by <a href="https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/israeli-army-confirms-journalist-killed-in-gaza-calls-him-hamas-terrorist-11665140/amp/1">NDTV</a> also identified Ahmed as an Al Jazeera cameraman killed in an Israeli strike. The report said the Israeli military asserted that Ahmed had been part of Hamas’ military wing and had posed a threat to troops in the area.
Al Jazeera has denied Israel’s claims about Ahmed, according to NBC News, and condemned his killing, calling it an attempt by Israel to silence and intimidate journalists. NBC also reported that a source close to Hamas told the Committee to Protect Journalists that Ahmed had no affiliation with the organization.
 Prominent anti-Israel figures, including New York City <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/06/23/us-news/al-jazeera-journalist-that-mamdani-mourned-was-allegedly-hamas-sniper-idf-claims/">Mayor Zohran Mamdani</a>, portrayed Ahmed as a journalist killed by Israel while criticizing the IDF. 
“More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military since the so-called ceasefire,” Mamdani said Monday. “Even an Al Jazeera journalist, Ahmed Washah, was killed this past Saturday by an Israeli strike.” Mamdani did not mention the IDF’s claim that Washah was a Hamas operative.
The IDF’s claim does not erase reports that Ahmed worked for Al Jazeera. But those reports also do not erase the IDF’s claim that he served in Hamas’ military wing and had recently advanced sniper attack plans against Israeli troops.
Since the first reports described Ahmed as a journalist without including Israel&#8217;s claim that he was also a Hamas sniper, many readers were left with a narrow version of the story. Israel&#8217;s account presents a very different version of the strike than the one circulating online.

In a <a href="https://x.com/DrSamirGeagea/status/2069000722847338782">letter</a> addressed to Vice President JD Vance on Monday, the leader of the Lebanese Forces — the largest Christian party in Lebanon — asked that the United States support the Lebanese state in extending full authority over all of its territory, restrict weapons to legitimate institutions, and end Hezbollah’s military and security presence.
Samir Geagea’s letter came after <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/report-new-us-iran-lebanon-mechanism-to-include-iran-qatar-pakistan-exclude-israel-and-limit-israeli-response-to-threats-pm-idf-faces-no-restrictions/">reports</a> that a new Lebanon mechanism emerging from U.S.-Iran talks would include Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan, while excluding Israel and limiting Israeli responses to threats from Lebanon. The reported framework would allow Israel to respond only to “imminent threats,” rather than the broader “emerging threats” standard included in the 2024 mechanism, according to The Times of Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushed back on the report, saying the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) faced “no restrictions” in Lebanon.
Geagea said the greatest contribution the United States could make at this stage would be to support the Lebanese state as the sole national authority and not as a matter to be negotiated with Iran. Geagea also asked for assurances that any negotiations over Lebanon go through the Lebanese state alone. That, Geagea argued, would be the most meaningful step for Lebanon’s Christians and all Lebanese citizens because it would open the door to a sovereign state capable of providing security, stability, and prosperity.
The Lebanese Christian leader said he reviewed Vance&#8217;s statement on Iran with “interest and appreciation.” He said the vice president&#8217;s remarks reflected “genuine friendship and profound concern” not only for Lebanese Christians, but for Lebanon as a whole.
Geagea framed Lebanon’s Christians as a stabilizing force in the country’s modern history, describing them as committed to openness, moderation, freedom, and cultural life in a region marked by instability. He argued that Lebanon’s pluralism, public freedoms, and open system have long made the country distinct in the Middle East.
But Geagea said the last four decades have been especially difficult for Lebanese Christians and other Lebanese citizens because of Hezbollah’s rise as a military and security organization. He accused Hezbollah of usurping national decision-making, weakening legitimate institutions, blocking the formation of an effective state, and dragging Lebanon into conflicts tied to Iranian agendas rather than Lebanese interests.
The impact, he wrote, has been economic decline, fewer job opportunities, and the emigration of many Lebanese, including a significant number of Christians seeking safety, stability, and a dignified life.
Geagea’s warning comes as the IDF has accused Hezbollah operatives of using Christian areas as cover. Earlier this month, the <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/idf-says-dozens-of-hezbollah-members-hiding-in-christian-neighborhood-in-tyre-warns-they-arent-safe-there/">IDF said</a> dozens of Hezbollah members were hiding inside a Christian neighborhood in the coastal city of Tyre, an area that had not been included in a previous evacuation warning.
Lt. Col. Ella Waweya, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokeswoman, said the military had issued an evacuation warning for parts of Tyre because of Hezbollah activity and alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement, but said that warning did not include the city’s Christian neighborhood.
According to Waweya, the IDF later identified activity by dozens of Hezbollah operatives inside that Christian neighborhood.
“This is not the first time we have exposed Hezbollah activity from within Christian areas, based on its belief that these areas provide it with a safer refuge,” Waweya said.
She called on residents to “demand the removal of the terror organization’s operatives from your areas,” and warned Hezbollah members that they were “not safe there.” If they continued operating from inside the area, she said, the IDF would issue evacuation instructions for the Christian neighborhood and take action against them.
The IDF’s allegation adds weight to the concern Geagea raised in his letter: that Hezbollah’s military presence has weakened the Lebanese state and exposed Lebanese civilians, including Christians, to instability and danger.
Geagea closed by thanking Vance again for his concern and said he hoped the United States would remain a key partner in helping Lebanon reclaim its role as a model of freedom, pluralism, and peace in the Middle East.
