Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed kept a book on his shelf written by an Islamic scholar linked to the 1993 World Trade Center terrorist attack. 
The book, called “Dream Interpretation According to the Qur&#8217;an,” was written by Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, an Islamic scholar listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the first bombing attack on New York’s World Trade Center. The book was just one of several tied to radical Islam seen on El-Sayed’s shelf in resurfaced documentary footage.
El-Sayed&#8217;s campaign said in a statement the bookshelf was not his, but that he &#8220;reads widely.&#8221;
&#8220;This was not Abdul’s bookshelf. Abdul is a doctor and Rhodes Scholar who reads widely, including authors whose views he may disagree with. A book appearing in the background of documentary footage is not an endorsement of its content nor a reflection of his beliefs,&#8221; his campaign said in a statement. 
In the footage, El-Sayed <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-abdul-el-sayed-tells-film-crew-to-hide-his-qurans-from-shot">asked</a> the film crew to avoid filming the bookshelf. He told them, “You’re going to want to not get these things in the shot … we’re trying to keep the shot secular.”
The details on El-Sayed’s book collection were <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/abdul-el-sayeds-secret-bookshelf-features-works-from-world-trade-center-bombing-unindicted-co-conspirator-and-radical-islamic-scholars/">flagged</a> by the Washington Free Beacon on Wednesday as the Michigan Senate candidate continues to face questions about his ties to radical Islam. A new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayeds-mother-worked-for-terror-group-that-funded-bin-laden-and-taliban?author=Drew+Berkemeyer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Abdul+El-Sayed%E2%80%99s+Mother+Worked+For+Terror+Group+That+Funded+Bin+Laden+And+Taliban">report</a> Tuesday showed that El-Sayed’s mother worked for an American-based Islamic charity accused of financing Osama bin Laden.
Throughout his public work and advocacy, Philips <a href="https://d1.islamhouse.com/data/en/ih_books/single/en_Contemporary_Issues.pdf">defended</a> Muhammad’s marriage to a young child, <a href="https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/canadians-with-alleged-terrorist-links-1.2839246#Dr.%20Abu%20Ameenah%20Bilal%20Philips">appeared</a> to justify suicide bombings as a &#8220;military action,” and has been banned from multiple countries. 
Other books on El-Sayed’s shelf included “Reflections on the Quran” by Irfan Ahmad Khan and “A Thematic Commentary on the Qur&#8217;an” by Sheikh Mohammed al-Ghazali. Khan was “<a href="https://www.islamicity.org/14713/loss-of-eminent-scholar-and-tireless-advocate-of-the-quran-dr-irfan-ahmed-khan/">active</a>” in the movement pushing for India to be governed by Sharia law before he moved to the United States, while Mohammed al-Ghazali was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. 
In the 1990s, Mohammed al-Ghazali <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1993/07/22/killing-apostates-condoned/68d0d42a-958f-4f42-8ad2-666a1629e2a0/">testified</a> in support of 13 Egyptian terrorists who gunned down a man who did not support Sharia law. During the trial, Mohammed al-Ghazali said that &#8220;the refusal of implementation of Sharia is apostasy,&#8221; adding that the death penalty was an acceptable punishment for apostasy under Islamic law. 
El-Sayed has also faced questions about previous comments he made to The New York Times about committing to following Sharia law. 
“Ultimately, the question is, when I die and I stand before God and go through everything I did in my life, I don’t want to say I did it the easy way instead of the Shariah-compliant way,” he said in 2009. “Not because of fear but because of obligation.”

Abdul El-Sayed, the Muslim socialist-aligned Democrat nominee for Michigan’s open Senate seat, compared his “radical” politics to Jesus, arguing that Christ was also considered a radical in His time.
Newly unearthed audio reviewed by The Daily Wire shows El-Sayed making the unusual comparison during a May interview on “The Progressive Christians Podcast,” when he was asked about left-wing priorities such as Medicare for All, opposition to war, and resisting corporate influence in politics.
“Obviously, Jesus was a healer and very focused on people’s bodies being redeemed, and yet those platforms or policies are being named radical. And we know that you have been referred to as a radical. So, what do you think about that title?” the host asked.
“You know, Jesus, peace and blessings be upon Him, was considered radical in His time too,” El-Sayed said. “And there is a radical nature to being willing to stand forthright in a time of corruption.”
This isn’t the first time El-Sayed has invoked Jesus to justify left-wing politics. Last week, he <a href="https://youtu.be/6NOhIms7QuU?t=886">said</a>, “If you followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, it was about upending the system against the richest and most powerful in the ways that they used their power and their money to subjugate other people. Like, that was the essential teaching.&#8221;
El-Sayed is the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-took-over-a-dog-slaughterhouse-he-admits-hes-not-an-animal-guy">latest</a> of a host of leftist candidates invoking the Christian faith this cycle to win over voters who have largely abandoned the Democratic Party. 
“Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed thinks he’s the second coming of Jesus Christ, here to save America with an extreme socialist agenda,” RNC Spokesperson Hunter Lovell told The Daily Wire. “Jesus isn’t a pawn for political games, and El-Sayed’s radical terrorist-sympathizing ideology is an insult to millions of Christians.”
A survey of Christian voters across denominations last year revealed a staggering collapse in trust in the Democratic Party, with 75% reporting little or no trust in the party, according to data <a href="https://time.com/7294664/they-just-walked-away-new-poll-shows-how-badly-democrats-are-losing-christian-voters-of-all-stripes/">shared with TIME.</a> More than half said they trust the GOP to protect their values, while 70% said they have little or no confidence in the federal government. Adding to the alarm, 61% said life in America has become harder for people of faith over the past decade.
“You can’t be the majority party if you ignore the majority faith in this country,” Doug Pagitt, a leftist pastor and executive director of Vote Common Good, told the outlet. “We know there’s this tension in the party.”
The survey was commissioned following President Donald Trump’s decisive 2024 victory, when he captured an overwhelming share of the Christian vote, winning large majorities among evangelicals and Catholics to secure another term in the White House. 
Fast forward to 2026, and Democratic candidates — who have largely shied away from talking about faith on the campaign trail — are increasingly embracing leftist interpretations of the Bible to make inroads with religious voters. 
Sarah Trone Garriott, the Democratic candidate for Iowa&#8217;s 3rd Congressional District, emphasized her work as a Lutheran minister while campaigning over the weekend.
“Everyone knows me as the pastor. I am a Lutheran minister. I still preach on the weekends, and this month I’m celebrating the 18th anniversary of my ordination,” Trone Garriott <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lefty-pastor-preached-showing-up-then-we-checked-her-record?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Lefty+Pastor+Preached+%E2%80%98Showing+Up.%E2%80%99+Then+We+Checked+Her+Record.">said</a>. “And one thing that I have learned from ministry is to serve a community well; you have got to show up.” 
The leftist minister, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), once claimed that challenges to the traditional definitions of men and women are “very threatening” to white men and downplayed concerns about the dangers of the transgender movement for women, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-democrat-candidate-says-trans-ideology-threatens-the-white-male">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported.
In Texas, Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico has likewise emphasized his Christian faith to make inroads with evangelical voters — the <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/religious-landscape-study/state/texas/">largest religious group</a> in Texas — by touting his Christian upbringing despite his support for abortion, describing God as “nonbinary,” opposing the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools, and his affiliation with a leftist Presbyterian denomination.
“As a Baptist preacher in South Texas, [my grandfather] taught me to follow the two great commandments — love God, and love your neighbor,” Talarico says in a <a href="https://x.com/jamestalarico/status/2087706393247952952?s=20">30-second ad</a> before connecting those teachings to lowering the cost of healthcare, housing, and groceries. 
The strategy comes as Talarico faces a difficult challenge among evangelical voters. A recent Fox News poll found that <a href="https://x.com/JWheelertv/status/2082987392626020796?s=20">78% of white evangelical Christians</a> in the Lone Star State plan to vote against Talarico, despite concerns that Ken Paxton’s (R-TX) personal scandals and marriage struggles could alienate the key demographic. 
“Democrats and the Left are increasingly realizing that rather than simply denigrate Christianity, as they did in the past, they&#8217;re better off trying to appropriate the language of Christianity and to use Jesus as a mascot for wickedness,” The Daily Wire’s Megan Basham <a href="https://x.com/megbasham/status/2014010329575940130?s=20">has argued</a>. 
“Obviously, there&#8217;s nothing Christ-like about that, as anyone with even a passing acquaintance with their Bible knows. But the Left is banking on people not being familiar with their Bibles,” she added.

An Islamist illegal alien murderer was allowed to escape back to his home country thanks to Virginia officials, who failed to get a guilty verdict even after he admitted guilt, helped him get a foreign passport, and allowed him to leave the mental hospital on unsupervised visits.
In 2019, Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda stabbed his roommate Mohammed Hemmatian to death in their Vienna, Virginia home. He was found &#8220;covered in blood from head to toe,&#8221; and told police &#8220;I am guilty,&#8221; according to court records. Less than a decade later he&#8217;s escaped punishment and is back home in his native Tajikistan.
Court records show that Fairfax County was paying for an apartment for Toshpulodzoda to live in while on leave from his mental health facility. While on the 48-hour pass, and he bought a one-way ticket and fled to his country, which borders Afghanistan in Central Asia.
&#8220;On July 6, 2026, the Acquittee was permitted to leave [the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute] on an approved forty-eight hour pass to an apartment made available through the Fairfax Permanent Supportive Housing Program,&#8221; the court documents obtained by The Daily Wire say. &#8220;He boarded an international flight at Washington Dulles International Airport and traveled to Istanbul, Turkey. He thereafter traveled to Dushanbe, Tajikistan.&#8221;
Although Toshpulodzoda admitted guilt for the murder, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity after his attorney said he was &#8220;fixated on religious topics and he was illogical and nonsensical.
&#8220;His brother would take him to a mosque for spiritual cleansing,&#8221; the lawyer said. &#8220;Unfortunately, his family did not assist Mr. Tospulodozoda with mental health treatment.&#8221;
A psychologist named Sahair Monfared was put in charge of evaluating the man &#8220;given the intertwining of Islam with Mr. Tospulodozoda&#8217;s delusions,&#8221; and he recommended that he be granted the not guilty ruling. Another independent psychologist hired by the prosecutor&#8217;s office agreed.
In October 2022, the not guilty by reason of insanity judgment was entered &#8220;with the concurrence of&#8221; the county prosecutor, Democrat Steve Descano, who won office with the financial backing of George Soros.
In May 2024, Descano teamed up with the murderer&#8217;s lawyer to ask the judge to give him &#8220;permission for an escorted visit&#8230; to the Tajikistan Embassy in Washington, D.C. to obtain a passport.&#8221;

In 2025, the Fairfax County Community Services Board and Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute acknowledged that Toshpulodzoda was an illegal immigrant and murderer, but said &#8220;the Forensic Review Panel is of the opinion that Mr. Toshpulodzoda is an appropriate candidate for conditional release,&#8221; meaning being able to leave confinement for good. The &#8220;conditional release plan&#8221; was signed by Azure Baron, chair of the panel, and six other officials.
On June 11, 2026, Judge Stephen Shannon blocked the permanent release, writing that &#8220;the Acquittee remained mentally ill and in need of inpatient hospitalization&#8221; and &#8220;shall not be released from custody and inpatient hospitalization without further order of this Court.&#8221;
Descano opposed the release. The judge&#8217;s reasons for blocking release included shielding the murderer from deportation, with court records saying the &#8220;Acquittee will not receive treatment if deported.&#8221;
Just days later on June 25, the mental hospital, which is operated by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, authorized him for one of his &#8220;unaccompanied community visits not exceeding forty-eight hours,&#8221; which they had permitted since 2024, and which prosecutors said did not conflict with the ruling. The Department did not return a request for comment.
Descano&#8217;s chief of staff, Laura Birnbaum, told The Daily Wire that the prosecutor&#8217;s office helped him get a passport &#8220;for documentary purposes,&#8221; and that the not-guilty ruling &#8220;is made by a judge after reviews from multiple independent clinicians.&#8221;
&#8220;We have opposed his release specifically because of community concerns,&#8221; she said. Asked if Descano believed he should be deported, she said &#8220;our goal is to make sure people are not harmed wherever he ends up,&#8221; suggesting that deporting him would place a murderer on the loose in another country.
She declined to say whether Descano opposes mental hospitals allowing murders 48-hour passes that cause them to live in the Virginia community. She said those decisions are up to the mental health department.
However, a similar case in neighboring Loudoun County contradicts that. When the mental hospital proposed granting 16 hour unsupervised visits to Melvin Wasike, who similarly stabbed someone to death, Republican prosecutor Bob Anderson publicly objected and contacted the hospital, which reversed its decision.
Descano has asked the judge for a &#8220;judicial capias&#8221; so Toshpulodzoda &#8220;may be apprehended and detained if he presents at any United States port of entry or is otherwise located within the United States.&#8221; The filing makes no mention of attempting to locate him abroad.
Since 2021, 15 murderers in Fairfax County, nine of them with foreign names, have been ruled not guilty by reason of insanity or not competent to stand trial, according to data compiled by Virginians for Safe Communities.
Descano is under investigation by the federal government after his campaign platform said he would help illegal immigrants avoid &#8220;immigration consequences.&#8221; The federal government and Republicans in Congress said that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-county-d-a-handing-out-get-out-of-jail-free-cards">amounted to discrimination</a>. Descano denied implementing his campaign promise, but a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fairfax-prosecutor-broke-law-by-treating-illegals-more-favorably-ag-alleges">long list of cases</a> show Descano repeatedly declining or dropping egregious charges against illegal immigrants.
A large portion of the murders in Fairfax have come at the hands of illegals, such as Sierra Leone national <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigrant-accused-of-another-brutal-virginia-murder">Abdul Jalloh</a>, 32, who had 30 prior arrests – almost all dropped by Descano – before he allegedly murdered Stephanie Minter at a Fairfax County bus stop, and Salvadoran migrant Marvin Morales-Ortez, 23, who allegedly fatally shot a man a day after authorities released him from jail and ignored a federal immigration detainer.

Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed will spend Labor Day weekend speaking at a Muslim conference alongside an antisemitic cleric who said he forced his 13-year-old niece into marriage.
El-Sayed, the Democratic U.S. Senate nominee in Michigan, is slated to speak at the Islamic Society of North America&#8217;s annual convention, held in Detroit from September 4-7, The Washington Free Beacon <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/abdul-el-sayed-to-headline-islamic-event-alongside-pakistani-cleric-who-forced-his-13-year-old-niece-into-marriage-was-denounced-for-pedophilic-rhetoric/">reported</a>. ISNA was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007 federal prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation, and a judge ruled in 2009 that the government had presented &#8220;ample evidence&#8221; tying the group to Hamas.
Also on the convention roster is Tariq Masood, a Pakistani cleric who has urged followers to marry off their young female relatives, citing his own niece&#8217;s marriage at 13.
Masood is scheduled to moderate a panel on &#8220;avoiding mental illness in youth&#8221; aimed at addressing how parents &#8220;can prevent or minimize the impact of any trauma leading to a mental illness.&#8221; He will moderate that session alongside ISNA president Syed Imtiaz Ahmad, who is separately listed on El-Sayed&#8217;s own panel, <a href="https://isna.net/annual-convention">according</a> to the convention itinerary.
Masood has also preached against Jews. In a 2024 <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhvnB-DBRR4">sermon</a> titled &#8220;The Final Humiliation of the Jews,&#8221; he said Jews&#8217; &#8220;cunning minds&#8221; had worked to bring the world under their control, according to translations reviewed by the Free Beacon. &#8220;The Quran condemns Jews,&#8221; he said, adding that &#8220;not all Jews are the same&#8221; before claiming no other community in the world matched Jews for &#8220;evil and turmoil.&#8221;
The El-Sayed campaign told The Daily Wire on Saturday that the Democrat &#8220;does not endorse&#8221; anyone speaking at the conference.
&#8220;Abdul is not affiliated with and does not endorse any other participant of the conference,&#8221; a spokeswoman for the campaign said. &#8220;He is scheduled to participate in a different panel at the ISNA conference to speak on unity and commitment to justice in public service.&#8221;
El-Sayed is scheduled to speak on a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DbtLp_ZDRqJ/">panel</a> titled &#8220;Cultivating God Awareness in a Turmoiled America.&#8221; Ahmad is listed on that panel as well, alongside Cenk Uygur, The Young Turks founder and uncle of America-hating streamer Hasan Piker.
El-Sayed&#8217;s panel discussion is advertised as a way to push Muslim Americans and their faith into the public square.
&#8220;In this storm, remaining principled, morally clear, and emotionally steady is essential for Muslim Americans,&#8221; the ISNA wrote. &#8220;ISNA meets the moment by framing taqwa (God-Awareness) not only as personal piety but as a public strategy for success. El-Sayed&#8217;s ties to ISNA are also familial and financial. His father-in-law, Tayeb Jukaku, has sat on the group&#8217;s founders committee since at least 2007 and also serves on the board of CAIR&#8217;s Michigan chapter, according to the Free Beacon. Jukaku has given $300,000 to a super PAC backing El-Sayed&#8217;s Senate bid.
Another scheduled speaker is Siraj Wahhaj, a Brooklyn imam who testified as a character witness for Omar Abdel-Rahman, the &#8220;blind sheikh&#8221; convicted in 1995 of plotting a wave of New York terror attacks. Prosecutors listed Wahhaj among roughly 170 people who might be named as co-conspirators in that case, though he was never charged and the lead prosecutor <a href="https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/siraj-wahhaj-and-the-1993-world-trade-center-bombing-again/amp/">has said</a> inclusion on the list did not mean the government alleged he was a conspirator.
The leftist Democratic Senate nominee narrowly won his party&#8217;s primary earlier this month pushing a far-Left agenda that includes Medicare for all and abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In the recent past, he has also called to defund the police and restructure the U.S. Supreme Court, both issues that are pushed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). While El-Sayed has said that he doesn&#8217;t identify as a socialist, the Democrat rode a wave of DSA support in his primary election.
El-Sayed campaigned alongside Hasan Piker ahead of the primary and has resisted calls to cut ties with him, dismissing Piker&#8217;s claim that &#8220;America deserved 9/11&#8221; as a &#8220;dumb statement.&#8221; Asked on Meet the Press whether he would campaign with the communist streamer again, El-Sayed <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wacRksAPl4s">said</a> he was &#8220;a lot more focused on who I&#8217;m campaigning to.&#8221;

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is preparing to install Islamic foot washing stations inside bathrooms in one of its terminals.
Documents registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on July 31 outlined a project that will add foot-washing stations to a men’s and women’s restroom on the concourse level in Terminal D, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/travel/dallas-fort-worth-airport-install-islamic-foot-wash-stations-bathrooms">reported</a>. The work is privately funded and expected to cost around $300,000. Officials project completion by the end of the year.
The airport said it is installing the stations for maintenance and safety, since some travelers at DFW have been washing their feet in bathroom sinks, which leaves floors wet and slippery, causing hazardous conditions. The new low-level basins for foot washing are designed to prevent water from spilling onto the floor.
While anyone could use the stations, they will primarily accommodate Muslim travelers performing Wudu, the ritual ablution required before the five daily prayers. Foot washing is an obligatory part of the Muslim purification rite.
Other major American airports, including Chicago O’Hare, already have some foot washing stations. DFW also already has ablution stations adjacent to its interfaith chapel in Terminal D.
The foot washing stations are going into DFW bathrooms as major Islamic-focused projects in the Dallas area face intense pushback. Last year, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott announced that the state had halted all construction on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/texas-says-its-halted-construction-of-muslim-centered-epic-city-outside-dallas">EPIC City</a>, a massive planned development outside Dallas intended solely for thousands of Muslims. 
The community was designed so that Islamic principles would shape daily life, education, and commerce. Abbott stated that no construction is taking place and that Texas launched roughly half a dozen investigations into the project, including criminal inquiries. The U.S. Department of Justice also examined the matter.
Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) had previously urged the Justice Department to investigate, calling EPIC City a discriminatory religious settlement in which Islamic principles would govern not only daily life and education but also commerce. 
He warned that a planned community reserved for thousands of Muslims could violate the constitutional rights of Jewish and Christian Texans by excluding them from living there and discriminating against them inside the community. He pressed the department to determine whether non-Muslim residents would receive equal protection under the law.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched a parallel investigation into communications between the East Plano Islamic Center, the group behind the project, and officials in the nearby towns of Plano, Richardson, and Wylie. 
Paxton said any local official supporting or communicating with a development under investigation for potential violations of state law needed to have those exchanges reviewed. He pledged to hold accountable anyone found to have broken Texas law.

As a 24-year-old medical student, Abdul El-Sayed sat down with The New York Times in 2009 to discuss buying his first home. He had chosen a Sharia-compliant mortgage for a $123,000 condominium in Ann Arbor. The arrangement avoided interest, which Islamic law prohibits. 
El-Sayed explained his decision. “Ultimately, the question is, when I die and I stand before God and go through everything I did in my life, I don’t want to say I did it the easy way instead of the Shariah-compliant way. Not because of fear but because of obligation,” he <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/revealed-el-sayed-proclaimed-obligation-to-follow-sharia-law-until-the-day-he-dies/">told</a> the outlet. 
That statement, unearthed this week, now sits beside his narrow primary win last week as the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan. He would be the first Muslim elected to the chamber if he prevails in November against Republican Mike Rogers.
El-Sayed’s campaign says the commitment remains personal. Spokeswoman Roxie Richner told the Washington Free Beacon that he “personally lives by the rules of his faith, as many Americans of various faiths do,” while opposing any effort to write religious law into the laws of the country. She added that he “believes in the separation of church and state.”
The same language of personal faith appears in more recent comments. In October 2025, he <a href="https://religionnews.com/2026/08/05/abdul-el-sayed-could-be-the-first-muslim-senator-heres-what-to-know/">told</a> Religion News Service that his faith “orients me to try and be a better person” and to “treat people — all people — with dignity and humanity and respect.” He has also said he wants to “protect the kind of America where everybody can pray how they choose to pray, or choose not to pray at all.”
Yet the record shows moments when the subject of Sharia itself produced sharper reactions. During his 2018 run for Michigan governor, El-Sayed denied ever saying he was “Sharia-compliant” in an interview with Laura Loomer, then ended the conversation and scolded staff for allowing it. 
A documentary about that campaign, How To Fix A Primary, captured him directing filmmakers away from a bookshelf in his home. 
The shelves held the Quran and reportedly a volume by Sheikh Mohammed al-Ghazali, a Muslim Brotherhood member who once testified that refusal to implement Sharia is apostasy and that an Egyptian professor killed for advocating church-state separation was “without doubt” an infidel. “You’re going to want to not get these things in the shot,” El-Sayed said. “We’re trying to keep the shot secular.”
In October 2022, speaking to the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, El-Sayed linked a 2010 ballot measure that sought to ban Sharia law in state courts to the Trail of Tears, the Tulsa race massacre, and the Oklahoma City bombing, <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/michigan-senate-candidate-abdul-el-sayed-compared-an-oklahoma-ban-on-sharia-law-to-the-trail-of-tears/">according</a> to The Washington Free Beacon.
“You cannot understand the challenges we face today without understanding white supremacy,” he said. “I don’t have to tell you that the same exact forces that drove native peoples from their land two centuries ago, destroyed Black Wall Street a century ago, bombed a building decades ago, and tried to ban Sharia law not a decade ago, that those forces are alive and well today.”
His personal life has long reflected the same framework. A 2006 Michigan Daily profile described him as a “particularly devout” Muslim. He proposed to Sarah Jukaku, who wears a hijab, while both were still in college because “Islamically, there are no premarital relations of any sort. No touching, no nothing. Given that, the logical solution is to get married.” 
They followed a traditional two-step Islamic marriage and lived apart, remaining chaste, for the first year. “Getting ice cream is the number one thing we do together,” he said at the time. Jukaku rarely appears at campaign events and was absent from the primary watch party. The couple has two young daughters. El-Sayed has not publicly addressed whether he expects them to follow the same rules on courtship, marriage, and modesty.
Financial disclosures show he and his wife hold between $150,000 and $425,000 in Amana Mutual Funds, which screen out companies earning more than 5 percent of revenue from interest, gambling, alcohol, tobacco, pornography, or pork. 
The late cofounder and chairman of those funds, Yaqub Mirza, was identified in a 1988 FBI memo as one of several “members and leaders of the IKHWAN,” the Arabic term for the Muslim Brotherhood. Federal agents raided Mirza’s home in 2002 as part of an investigation into the Safa Group. No charges resulted, and Amana itself faced little further scrutiny.

El-Sayed’s father-in-law previously served as president of CAIR Michigan and sat on the founders committee of the Islamic Society of North America. 
Both organizations appeared in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation case, the largest terrorism financing prosecution in American history, in which the foundation and five leaders were convicted of providing material support to Hamas. CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator. A 1991 Muslim Brotherhood document recovered by the FBI described the group’s work in North America as “a grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”
In Michigan, some imams have framed the Senate race in religious terms. One, <a href="https://www.themidwesterner.news/2026/08/abdul-el-sayeds-shariah-compliant-home-mortgage-underscores-deep-devotion-to-islam/">speaking</a> at an American Muslim Diversity Association mosque in Sterling Heights in July, urged congregants to vote for “a legitimate Islamic objective,” cited a fatwa from the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America, and named El-Sayed as the candidate who could become the first Muslim U.S. senator. He also mentioned Rep. Rashida Tlaib as a “sister” already representing the community in Congress.
El-Sayed’s own account of returning to faith after a period of distance revolves around his Egyptian grandmother and the character of the Prophet Muhammad.
The Daily Wire reached out to El-Sayed’s campaign for comment. No response was received prior to publication.

The man accused of killing the mother of a former top Trump Middle East adviser is believed to be behind a series of anti-Jewish hate crimes in the days preceding her death. 
Cara Trager was walking home with her husband in Queens, New York, on May 25 when Dawood Faisal sped through two red lights and crashed into multiple vehicles, sending one into the crosswalk and fatally wounding her, authorities say. The incident happened just two days after he allegedly vandalized the kosher Bagels &amp; Co. restaurant for the second time.
The timing has left Trager’s family questioning whether her death could have been prevented if the earlier antisemitic attacks had been addressed. Instead, Faisal is accused of getting behind the wheel in the heavily Jewish neighborhood, doing donuts in the street, and driving twice the speed limit before triggering the fatal chain-reaction crash. 
Trager’s family was already deeply connected to the fight against antisemitism: her son, Eric, was appointed by President Donald Trump as a senior director for Middle East and North Africa on the National Security Council from January to May 2025, where he <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us-proposes-bridge-extend-gaza-ceasefire-white-house-says-2025-03-14/">worked closely</a> with Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff on Middle East policy and the war in Gaza.
According to authorities, on May 25 Faisal was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius southbound on Francis Lewis Boulevard at approximately 7:48 p.m. when he surpassed 75 mph in a 35 mph zone and ran at least two red lights.
He first allegedly slammed into a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon traveling through the intersection before striking a Nissan Rogue, sending it into the crosswalk where it hit Trager and her husband, Michael, who had been married for 47 years and were walking home from dinner.
Trager suffered severe head trauma and died four days later. Her husband suffered a shoulder injury, lacerations to his hands, and bruising to his face.
After the collision, Faisal allegedly got out of his vehicle and attempted to flee before picking up a stick to fight off good Samaritans who detained him until police arrived.
Video footage from the scene shows Trager face down on the pavement while her husband kneels down next to her along with debris and cars scattered through the intersection.

Michael recalled the moment he realized his wife had been struck in an interview with The Daily Wire, describing himself as “dazed” and struggling to understand what had happened.
“The first thing I did was I started punching myself to say, ‘Oh, gee, I’m still alive here,’” Michael recalled. “Then I saw that my wife was dead. I couldn’t believe it happened because I didn’t do anything wrong. We were crossing the street, and next thing I know, I’m on the ground with my wife.”
Faisal, 22, was arrested after the incident and indicted in June on second-degree manslaughter, assault, and other charges. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded into custody without bail. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. 
Michael attended Faisal’s arraignment just days after the crash, while Trager was hospitalized and dying from her injuries. 
“I was afraid that my wife was going to officially die when I’m at the arraignment, but I went,” Michael said, adding that Faisal’s family was also present at the proceeding and that his mother repeatedly cried while sitting in the courtroom.
“I&#8217;m thinking to myself, ‘What are you crying for? Are you crying for your son, or are you crying because your son killed my wife? Why are you crying?’&#8221; Michael said.
On July 31, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced that Faisal had been arraigned on separate hate-crime charges stemming from two prior incidents at Bagels &amp; Co., which openly displays itself as kosher and has Israeli flags in its storefront. The shop is located in the heavily Jewish Fresh Meadows neighborhood, close to the Tragers’ home and the area where Trager was killed.
Prosecutors allege that on May 15 around 6:18 p.m., Faisal knocked over nine metal plant stands outside the business, causing dirt and plants to spill onto the sidewalk, before allegedly picking up dirt and throwing it at the storefront twice.
Eight days later, at approximately 1 a.m. on May 23 — early Saturday morning, when religious Jews observe a day of rest for Shabbat — prosecutors allege Faisal returned to the store and pushed and kicked 11 metal plant stands, causing more dirt and plants to spill onto the sidewalk. He allegedly picked up the stands and emptied their remaining contents onto the sidewalk before attempting to kick over a large clay pot. When he was unable to knock it over, prosecutors say he ripped the plants out of the pot and other containers.
The vandalism was not the first time Bagels &amp; Co. had been targeted over its Israeli flags. In November 2021, a man recorded himself threatening to burn down the store unless employees removed the Israeli flags, prompting condemnation from local officials, reported <a href="https://www.tabletmag.com/the-scroll/articles/scroll-aug-7-intifada-comes-for-queens">Tablet Magazine</a>.
Video of the second alleged vandalism shows Faisal smashing furniture and the pots while wearing what appears to be traditional Muslim garb. Faisal is now being held at the Otis Bantum Correctional Center, where Department of Correction records list his country of “nativity” as Pakistan.
Authorities said that Faisal is not working or in school and that he was not on drugs or drunk during the manslaughter incident, according to Michael.
“As alleged, this defendant repeatedly targeted a Jewish-owned business and destroyed property in a vile act of antisemitism,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said.
If convicted, Faisal faces up to seven years in prison, according to Katz.
Faisal’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 8. Michael said he has been warned that Faisal could eventually be released on bail, a prospect that has left him fearful for his own safety.
Trager was aware of the bagel shop incidents, having spoken to her daughter Rachel Sales about them just two days before the fatal crash, Sales recounted in a piece for the <a href="https://www.nydailynews.com/2026/08/06/from-antisemitic-crimes-to-manslaughter/">New York Daily News</a>.
Sales said the subsequent discovery that the same man was accused of both the vandalism and the reckless driving that killed her mother had transformed the family’s grief into anger.
“This has turned our existing nightmare into a greater nightmare, showing us that my mother’s death may have been prevented,” Sales wrote. “The antisemitic vandalism crimes were known and widely publicized. Yet, this hateful dangerous man remained on the loose and soon killed my mother.”
Although authorities are not investigating the crash as a hate crime, Michael believes the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death deserve scrutiny, particularly given the heavily Jewish neighborhood where the crash occurred and Faisal’s alleged attacks on the Jewish business days earlier.
“My contention is that the area itself is very, very Jewish,” Michael told The Daily Wire. “It’s Bukharian, it’s a Russian Jewish area, and most of the people who were eyewitnesses, the people who detained him, were Bukharian Jews.”
Michael said the circumstances made it more likely that the victims would be Jewish, even if he does not believe that proves his wife was specifically targeted.
“If you’re going to do that kind of act in that area, at that time, you’re more than likely, if you’re going to kill somebody, to kill a Jew,” he said.
Trager was a longtime Queens journalist who was active in her Jewish community throughout her life. She wrote for publications including Newsday, the New York Post, Crain’s New York Business, and also produced publications and marketing materials for Jewish organizations including UJA-Federation of New York and the Jewish Theological Seminary.

Trager served on the board of Solomon Schechter School of Queens, a Jewish day school, and held leadership positions at her synagogue, Etz Hayim at Hollis Hills Bayside. Her husband described her as deeply committed to Israel and Judaism.
New NYPD data show that <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/jews-targeted-in-70-of-all-nyc-hate-crimes-last-month-nypd-data-shows/">Jews were the targets</a> in 70% of confirmed hate crimes reported in New York City in July, despite making up roughly 10% of the city’s population.
Queens has been particularly affected, with a string of unsolved antisemitic incidents in recent months. In early May, four people allegedly spray-painted swastikas and other antisemitic messages on synagogues, Jewish homes, and a car in Flushing and Forest Hills, followed days later by the discovery of nearly a dozen swastikas at two Queens parks on Mother’s Day.
On May 18, Albert Itzkowitz, a 75-year-old former kosher bakery owner and rabbi, was found <a href="https://www.jns.org/news/u-s-news/exclusive-sweetest-kindest-man-family-says-of-orthodox-man-gunned-down-in-broad-daylight-in-nyc">shot to death</a> in Kissena Park. Police have ruled his death a homicide but have not identified a suspect or motive, and his family has urged investigators to consider whether he was targeted because he was Jewish. The NYPD and Itzkowitz’s family have offered a combined $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
The incidents continued into July, when two Orthodox synagogues in Queens were vandalized with feces and motor oil in attacks the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating as potential hate crimes.

A Belgian lawmaker who escaped the clutches of Tehran’s ruthless ayatollahs warned Americans on Thursday of the same threat on U.S. soil.
Darya Safai, a member of Belgium’s Chamber of Representatives and leader of its NATO Parliamentary delegation, issued a chilling warning to the United States after shocking images surfaced from Dearborn, Michigan — a city she cautions is becoming a dangerous flashpoint just 25 years after 9/11.

&#8220;We do this every year,&#8221; said one Muslim man who owns a Pizza shop in the city. &#8220;This is about honoring freedom and kindness. Our prophet taught us to be kind to everyone, no matter who they are.&#8221;
Safai&#8217;s warning came two days after Dearborn voters helped elect <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abdul-el-sayed-secures-far-lefts-biggest-victory-yet-over-dem-establishment">Abdul El-Sayed</a> in the Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate. El-Sayed faces Republican Mike Rogers in the general election, and he would become the first Muslim senator in U.S. history with a victory in November.
Safai, 51, knows the horrors of Islamic fundamentalism firsthand. Arrested during the 1999 student uprisings at Tehran University, she languished in a regime prison before fleeing into exile. Re-establishing herself as a dental surgeon in Belgium, she <a href="https://genevasummit.org/speaker/darya-safaei/#:~:text=While%20her%20participation%20in%20the%201999%20Iran,holding%20up%20a%20banner%20for%20the%20cause.">transformed her pain</a> into a crusade, launching the global &#8220;Let Iranian Women Enter Their Stadiums&#8221; campaign and making headlines at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2022, she famously cut her hair in solidarity with dissidents fighting back after the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini.
Now, she says the very ideology that destroyed her homeland is knocking on America&#8217;s door, accusing radical displays in Michigan of mirroring the tactics used to crush ancient Persia.
&#8220;Our country, Persia, was conquered by this ideology,&#8221; Safai wrote, noting that after the conquest, Persians lost the right to practice their ancestral culture and Zoroastrian religion. &#8220;We know their tactics of intimidation through displays of power. &#8230; Know that the regime of the ayatollahs will fight America not only in the Persian Gulf but also through its Shia army inside the country.&#8221;
The outspoken MP also slammed the political establishment for turning a blind eye to radical infiltration, warning that Michigan is on the brink of electing the nation&#8217;s first Muslim senator while &#8220;dark-red communists&#8221; act as useful idiots for extremists.
&#8220;They are infiltrating politics everywhere in the world with the help of Muslims and also dark-red communists who believe they can change the system through so-called socialist politicians,&#8221; Safai blasted. &#8220;It is naïve, because under an Islamic system everyone loses the most basic human rights. Do you really think this crowd believes in equality between men and women?&#8221;
Recalling her own childhood, where at 6 years old she was forced into a dark veil and at 9, was shamed simply for laughing out loud, Safai warned that Westerners are dangerously oblivious to the slow-motion surrender of their hard-won freedoms.
Safai has also addressed the Geneva Summit for Human Rights on the systemic oppression of women under Sharia law, and her message to the American public is as urgent as it is direct: wake up before it’s too late.
&#8220;As a Persian, I have warned many times about how our beloved Iran has suffered under this dangerous ideology,&#8221; Safai pleaded. &#8220;We are trying to save Iran from the ayatollahs. Please don’t let them change the Western countries.&#8221;

Speaking at a hearing on Wednesday about the dangers of the Muslim Brotherhood network across America, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) denounced the five Senate Democrats who refused to attend the hearing.
Cruz laid into Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights, who announced on Tuesday that they would <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dems-boycott-hearing-on-muslim-brotherhood">refuse to participate</a> in the hearing focused on Muslim Brotherhood networks within the United States.
&#8220;You may notice that there are empty chairs on the Democrat side of the dais,&#8221; Cruz said. &#8220;The American people should ask themselves why not a single member of the minority decided that a hearing on terrorism was worth their time. It is an embarrassment and a disservice to the thousands of American victims of the Muslim Brotherhood. History has taught Americans the danger of dismissing determined jihadist movements because their ambitions seem too extreme to be real.&#8221;

In a joint <a href="https://www.whitehouse.senate.gov/news/release/senate-judiciary-courts-subcommittee-democrats-blast-cruzs-hearing-targeting-the-muslim-community/">statement</a>, Democratic Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Alex Padilla (D-CA), and Peter Welch (D-VT) sharply criticized the panel’s focus, writing, “Scapegoating Muslims may be a Texas Republican strategist’s idea of ‘solid gold’ to whip up their voters, but Democrats have no intention of indulging this political creepshow, particularly after the recent violence targeting places of faith. Our focus is the costs families face thanks to rampant, non-stop Trump corruption.”
During the hearing, Cruz questioned expert witnesses Lara Burns, Arielle Klepach, and Kyle Shideler regarding the domestic presence and influence of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Burns, the head of terrorism research at the Program on Extremism at the George Washington University, emphasized that the infrastructure supporting foreign terrorist organizations operates inside the U.S. under the guise of charity and advocacy. She testified:

In reality, these support infrastructures have existed inside the U.S. for decades. They operate through financial, propaganda, and organizational support networks and commonly hide under the cover of charity, advocacy, or activism.
In 1993, leaders of the Palestine Committee held a meeting known as the 1993 Philadelphia Meeting, which was lawfully wiretapped by the FBI. There, members of the Palestine Committee defined the scope of the conspiracy, which included supporting Hamas abroad and infiltrating universities, media, and politics here in the U.S. Why? To begin normalizing Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood extremist ideology in American society. They stated, &#8220;War is deception when plotting to lie to Americans.&#8221; They also noted their intent to cleanse the curriculum in U.S.-based K-12 schools because &#8220;we don&#8217;t want our children growing up surrendering to the idea of peace with Jews.&#8221;

Kyle Shideler, the director and senior analyst for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy stated that the Muslim Brotherhood operates as a counterintelligence and systemic threat in the U.S. He testified:

From its very beginning, the Muslim Brotherhood has operated as a clandestine organization, which engages in the creation of public front groups, cultivates agents of influence, seeks control over religious institutions, and engages in acts of political subversion as well as creating deniable sub-organizations devoted to terrorism, all in pursuit of their ultimate goal, the overthrow of governments and the reestablishment of a worldwide caliphate operating under Islamic law. 
It is worth recalling that the government demonstrated that the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood, like all Brotherhood branches worldwide, created and funded Hamas support networks known as Palestine Committees at the direction of the U.S. of the International Muslim Brotherhood, beginning in 1983. &#8230; The issue of the U.S.-Muslim Brotherhood is not merely a counterterrorism issue, but it is also a systemic counterintelligence challenge. And even more broadly, it is a challenge to the fabric of the United States and its ability to seek assimilation and social cohesion.

Arielle Klepach, the former assistant U.S. attorney in the special prosecution sections of the United States Attorney&#8217;s Office for the Southern District of Florida, testified on the infiltration of the American education system, saying, “When someone tells you who they are, believe them. The Muslim Brotherhood told us their strategy for the West, but don&#8217;t take my word for it. They put it on paper. &#8230; This is not a relic of the 1990s. It is a foreign terror-supporting movement on American soil targeting our Constitution and our founding principles. I would ask you to remember three things. These organizations are dangerous, they are in our schools, and they hide by abusing the very legal system they are working to dismantle.”

Anticipation is growing for The Daily Wire’s newest project, “Run Hide Fight: Infidels,” as the full-length trailer for the film dropped on Thursday.
The subject matter couldn’t be more timely. A follow up to the hit 2020 action film “Run Hide Fight” — which dealt with a school shooting — takes place on a college campus that has been taken over by violent terrorists in a situation that’s chillingly true to life.

“When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college’s pro-Palestine encampment to enforce barbaric Sharia law on students and execute infidels in a makeshift caliphate, a ragtag band of red-blooded students, a security guard tired of ‘Uncle Tom’ smears and a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers and keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil,” the logline of “Infidels” says.
The full length trailer provides more details about the storyline. In it, Jonathan Majors appears as Captain Clay Saunders, a retired Delta Force soldier who visits a college campus to promote his new book. But the radical Islamic terrorists on campus stage a violent attack &#8211; coopting a hapless group of campus protesters &#8211; to try to stop Saunders from spreading his warning against the rise of Islam in America.
“There are three ways Islam will conquer the West,” Majors says during his campus speech in the trailer clip. “Through immigration, through the wombs of our women, and by using our nation’s freedom against us.”
“What makes them so dangerous? Their goals are not in this life, but the next,” he goes on.
His speech is interspersed with shots of radicals carrying out an attack on the venue. The attendees and Majors are seen fighting back against the terrorists. “Fight back or fall,” the trailer caption says as the heart-pounding drama unfolds.
There’s a shot of an injured pregnant woman, college girls being held hostage by the terrorist ringleader, and bombs being thrown.
But the good guys don’t take any of it lying down. Majors takes charge of the situation, echoing the words of his speech. “We cannot run or hide from what is coming,” he says from the stage. “We have to fight.”
“That’s the American way,” he deadpans while leading the charge against the terrorists.
The film marks a comeback to the industry for Majors. It’s reported to be a return to traditional action-packed storytelling that’s been missing from Hollywood for some time.
Producer Dallas Sonnier revealed a little bit about the inspiration, telling Page Six, “We all worship at the altar of [director] John Milius and Red Dawn. And Eastwood, and all the other wonderful action stars of the ’80s — Stallone and Schwarzenegger. Nobody’s making these types of movies anymore.”
As for the film’s star, Sonnier said, “Majors loved the script, loved shooting the movie, is so great in the film, and he is totally 1,000% behind it.”

Michigan Democrats on Tuesday elevated leftist firebrand Abdul El-Sayed to the party&#8217;s U.S. Senate nomination, marking the biggest triumph yet for the ascendant far-Left and a humiliating defeat for the establishment&#8217;s old guard, who failed to stop him from advancing to a pivotal November clash with Trump-endorsed Republican Mike Rogers.
With over 95% of the vote counted and after voters waited for Wayne County&#8217;s slow counting process, El-Sayed was finally projected to win Wednesday morning. Decision Desk HQ called the race at 8:35 a.m. ET, with El-Sayed at 48.9% to Stevens&#8217; 47.5%.
Early results showed El-Sayed, the former public health director for Detroit, performing stronger than expected across multiple counties. Stevens, a four-term congresswoman from the Detroit suburbs, performed the best in areas where most of the state&#8217;s black voters live, such as Wayne, Oakland, and Genesee Counties. El-Sayed, meanwhile, outperformed his benchmarks among younger voters while Stevens severely underperformed among older voters, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/08/04/us/elections/results-michigan-us-senate-primary.html">election data</a>.
Tuesday&#8217;s result caps a bruising primary and highlights the Democratic Party&#8217;s accelerating ideological shift, with the establishment failing to stop the socialist-aligned Left nationwide. Supporters of the socialist movement viewed El-Sayed as their best chance to prove a leftist candidate could win statewide in a battleground like Michigan.
Since President Donald Trump’s re-election, the Democratic establishment has watched its leftist wing barnstorm the country, racking up one victory after another. Socialist Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s upset in New York City&#8217;s mayoral primary kicked off the movement&#8217;s breakthrough, followed by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/mamdanis-socialists-upset-incumbent-dems-in-house-primary-sweep">three Democratic Socialists of America-backed leftists</a> ousting longtime Democratic representatives. The socialist-aligned Left also steamrolled its way through <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-trashes-the-socialist-poised-to-be-next-mayor-of-d-c">Washington, D.C.,</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/socialist-hot-streak-continues-as-radical-leftist-unseats-15-term-democrat?author=Brecca+Stoll&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Socialist+Hot+Streak+Continues+As+Radical+Leftist+Unseats+15-Term+Democrat">Denver</a>, then succeeded in nominating <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/platner-caves-suspends-senate-campaign">Graham Platner</a> for the U.S. Senate in Maine before he dropped out of the race following a rape allegation.
In many of those races, party leaders ultimately chose accommodation over confrontation, reluctantly uniting behind nominees they had once viewed as too extreme. Michigan marked the first major exception. With control of the Senate potentially at stake, Democratic heavyweights rallied behind Stevens, fearing El-Sayed could give the GOP a ripe opportunity to flip a Senate seat and hold the upper chamber. 
High-profile establishment Democrats, including Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/things-just-got-harder-for-abdul-el-sayed?author=Blake+Schaper&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Major+Establishment+Democrat+Plants+Flag+Against+Abdul+El-Sayed">endorsed</a> Stevens.
“Just like me, Haley will do whatever it takes to get things done for the people of Michigan, and we need her now more than ever,” Whitmer said in a video <a href="https://x.com/gretchenwhitmer">posted</a> to X last month.
Stevens, who went viral for her quirky “<a href="https://x.com/FoxNews/status/2077370465522155935?s=20">stick it to them</a>” slogan, celebrated the endorsement, calling Whitmer “a champion for our state” who understands “the stakes of this race.”
It made little difference to an increasingly frustrated Democratic electorate that blames the party&#8217;s old guard for paving the way for President Trump&#8217;s election and return to power.
If elected, El-Sayed would become America’s first Muslim senator. His parents are both Egyptian immigrants, and his father <a href="https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2018/0329/Can-a-Michigan-doctor-become-America-s-first-Muslim-governor">was a part-time imam</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-islamist-marxist-takeover-of-middle-america">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported. His father-in-law <a href="https://freebeacon.com/democrats/abdul-el-sayeds-father-in-law-a-top-donor-to-an-el-sayed-super-pac-is-among-top-leaders-of-muslim-brotherhood-organization-linked-to-terror-funding/">is a founding committee member </a>of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, according to the federal government.
His background and hard-Left platform — which includes <a href="https://abdulforsenate.com/priority/money-out-of-politics/#h-supreme-court-reform">Medicare for all</a>, <a href="https://statenews.com/article/2026/04/abdul-el-sayed-denounces-iran-war-calls-for-abolishing-ice-in-campus-rally">abolishing ICE</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/yes-michigans-abdul-el-sayed-really-wants-to-defund-the-police-here-are-the-receipts?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Yes%2C+Michigan%E2%80%99s+Abdul+El-Sayed+Really+Wants+To+Defund+The+Police.+Here+Are+The+Receipts.">defunding the police</a>, <a href="https://abdulforsenate.com/priority/money-out-of-politics/#h-supreme-court-reform">restructuring the U.S. Supreme Court</a>, and raising taxes on billionaires — galvanized the Democratic Party&#8217;s far-Left base, including streamer Hasan Piker, who has said that the United States &#8220;deserved&#8221; the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
In the mold of other leftist primaries, Israel emerged as one of the race&#8217;s defining issues. Stevens has embraced her identity as a &#8220;proud pro-Israel Democrat&#8221; and benefited from roughly $25 million in support from AIPAC, <a href="https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00799031/2001984/se">according to FEC filings,</a> while El-Sayed has called Israel&#8217;s war in Gaza a &#8220;genocide&#8221; and opposes U.S. military aid to Israel.
One El-Sayed voter <a href="https://x.com/JWheelertv/status/2084781813067600313?s=20">told NBC</a> his friend group under 25 won&#8217;t vote for any Democratic nominee who supports Israel, saying the party will have only itself to blame if Republican Mike Rogers wins the seat.
At a recent debate, El-Sayed turned his ire on Stevens over a recent vote for U.S. military aid to Israel. 
“Just last week, our friend here voted to send $3.3 billion of your tax dollars to a foreign government. That is the pro quo that comes with a quid of $30 million spent by AIPAC,” El-Sayed said. 
Stevens fired back, <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5993136-el-sayed-stevens-michigan-democratic-senate-primary-debate/">saying</a>, “The goal is always long-term peace, and also, the prime minister of Israel has attacked me by name. Let me just say this: that the only thing that ever motivates my work is the people of Michigan, the people who I hear from.” 
The back-and-forth on the debate stage did not stop things from turning ugly on the campaign trail. Earlier this month, a black school board member supporting Stevens told El-Sayed to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/black-democrat-tells-muslim-senate-candidate-to-stop-speaking-arabic?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Black+Democrat+Tells+Muslim+Senate+Candidate+To+Stop+Speaking+Arabic">stop speaking and playing Arabic music</a>, a viral moment that inflamed racial tensions. 
“The other candidate seems to be … doesn’t work a room. You have to know how to work the room. Don’t come out speaking only Arabic. Don’t come out with your Arabic music on,” Angie Smith said. “Represent everyone.”
Republicans see the simmering Democratic divisions as a ripe political opportunity come November. 
“The socialist takeover has its sights set on Michigan. That much is clear. They just have one major problem: we won’t let them get away with it,” <a href="https://rogersforsenate.com/news/rogers-sounds-alarm-on-socialist-takeover">said</a> Rogers, who <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/07/23/politics/michigan-senate-race-mike-rogers-haley-stevens-abdul-el-sayed">believes</a> his campaign is in “good shape” to win against El-Sayed.

There is a comforting lie people in the West have been telling ourselves for some decades, as we import literally millions upon millions upon millions of Muslims from third-world countries: Islam is generally compatible with Western civilization.
That was a weird idea historically, since from its birth Islam was founded in direct conflict with the West. But the idea that Islam was in conflict with the West was always awkward because it dictated that the West might have to face down implacable ideological enemies who would not be wooed by the power of simple economics.
Religious enemies are different from communist enemies. Yes, communism is a form of religion, but it is, in the end, dictated by the power of the economic vision. The true neoliberal fallacy was not that free trade raises living standards, because it does. The fallacy was that economics always dictates ideology, that if you put economic pressure on radical Muslims, they will magically accede to your cultural changes and that they will moderate in some way.
It didn&#8217;t work with China. It certainly was never going to work with radical Islam.
We decided that we were going to import massive numbers of radicalized Muslims to the West, people who do not believe in the basic rights which the West was founded upon. These are people who see the West as a plum ripe for the picking, and then who tell us that if we see what they are doing and what they believe, it must be because we are Islamophobic.
Here&#8217;s the deal: There are a lot of wonderful people who are Muslim. I know many of them, just as there are a lot of wonderful people individually of pretty much every persuasion. That doesn&#8217;t mean every persuasion is equivalent, nor that Islam is generally a philosophy particularly compatible with Western belief systems.

This was the subject of debate at Oxford Union just a couple of weeks ago. This debate went so poorly for the pro-Islam side that they delayed the release of the debate for a couple of weeks.
The resolution at Oxford was “This House believes the West is right to be suspicious of Islam.” The resolution did not pass. It was voted down.
One of the people who was arguing in favor of the idea that the West should be suspicious of Islam was Tommy Robinson, who has been labeled “extremely radical” by the Left.
But when he said that Islam is not particularly compatible with the West, that was the argument of virtually every Western leader for several centuries.
Anti-Robinson protesters were numerous and well-organized.
Roughly 80,000 pounds were spent on police security due to the protesters.
The greatest mark that your religion is a religion of peace is when it requires tens of thousands of pounds in security to prevent people from storming the place and chopping off people&#8217;s heads.
One clip from the event shows the truth about what Islam in the West really means.
The people who argued for Islam ended up making a case against Islam. They accidentally said the quiet part out loud.
One of the people who argued in favor of the proposition that the West ought to be suspicious of Islam was British actor and now quasi-activist Laurence Fox. He stated, “Islam literally means submission. So there is no church, there is no state, there is only Islam. My suspicion of Islam, therefore, is strongly and I think reasonably held. Islam is a comprehensive social, political, and military doctrine which leaves no part of its followers’ lives untouched. As Andrew Hussey, the British historian, says, ‘Islam more closely resembles a ruthlessly efficient war machine than a religion. Islam is borderless, expansionary and interested only in submission to Allah.’”
British podcaster and broadcaster Jonathan Sacerdoti added, “And their devised strategy was one of patient Islamic transformation from within: a civilizational jihad. Don&#8217;t worry, that is not a far-Right name made up by Tommy Robinson or me. That&#8217;s actually what they called it, and we know that because the FBI seized their 1991 explanatory memorandum setting out the plan to settle in the West, build Islamic centers as bases, infiltrate institutions, and work until ‘Allah&#8217;s religion is made victorious over all other religions.’ Nearly a century later, they are widely accepted across Europe and in the U.S. and much of the West as a dangerous threat to democracy.”
That is what the pro-resolution side had to say about why the West should be suspicious of Islam. Then the anti-resolution side got up and proved that the pro-resolution side’s entire case was accurate.
A student named Aisha Khan Aziz was talking to Tommy Robinson about the mob outside. This is the clip that I referred to, where she said the quiet part out loud.
She said to Robinson — whose given name is Stephen — “Stephen, there is a crowd outside rioting against you tonight. And without the protection and generosity of a Muslim Palestinian president and a mostly South Asian executive committee, you would be quite literally cooked.”
I believe that’s making an argument that is the opposite of the argument that you are seeking to make. If the idea is that the Muslims are so moderate that they are willing to heed any debate, then the idea that “we are being nice by allowing you to speak here, and if it weren&#8217;t for us, our friends outside would murder you,” doesn’t exactly fit.
That also happens to be the statement of many Muslims who live in the West: “We are the moderate ones. We&#8217;re moderate because we just want our aims. But if you anger us, if you draw a cartoon in a newspaper, we will riot all across Europe. If you are a person who speaks out against Islam in ways that we find offensive, we&#8217;ll beat the living crap out of you.”
How do people think that Islam became a global religion? It did not become a global religion because missionaries were sent to far-flung places. It became a global religion through conquest and war.
The best way to adjudicate the quality of a religion is by its adherents. Has the religion had a positive or negative impact on the societies in which it exists?
One of the reasons that people have trouble understanding the infiltration of radical Islam into our politics is that the Left — which theoretically should oppose radical Islam because it is tyrannical and anti-freedom — is happy to join in the chorus of “Islamophobia” every time somebody notices the problem.
The reason is that it always comes down to the coalition of the scavengers.
As long as you hate the system, you will fellow-travel with anyone, including the radical Muslims who would like to destroy it.
