British authorities arrested five men near a military base hosting U.S. forces early Sunday on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack.
RAF Fairford, in Gloucestershire in southwestern England, serves as a forward operating location for the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command and has recently been used to launch B-52 and B-1 bombers targeting Iran.
President Donald Trump praised the arrests while speaking to reporters Sunday and said the United States had worked with British authorities on the case. &#8220;The arrest in the UK was fantastic,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Working with Britain, it was an amazing job. We had them under investigation.&#8221; Trump said the suspects were &#8220;looking to do big damage&#8221; and that the group had been under watch &#8220;for a long time.&#8221;
Police were alerted around 12:45 a.m. to three suspicious vehicles apparently bound for the base, <a href="https://news.met.police.uk/news/counter-terrorism-policing-update-in-relation-to-incident-in-gloucestershire-513316">according</a> to a Metropolitan Police statement. Armed officers responded and detained five men in the nearby village of Whelford on suspicion of explosives offenses, then rearrested them on suspicion of preparing an act of terrorism.
Authorities evacuated about 85 households as a precaution and established a 400-meter cordon around the vehicles while Army bomb disposal specialists were examining them. A nearby recreation center opened to accommodate displaced residents. “We are in the early stages of an investigation, and five men remain in custody,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, Counter Terrorism Policing’s senior national coordinator.
“We continue to work with Gloucestershire Police to keep the community safe as we work to gather evidence from the scene,” Evans added. Gloucestershire Police Assistant Chief Constable Richard Ocone said emergency services had established plans for responding to major incidents.
“A cordon is in place as a precaution and the public can expect to see an emergency services presence in the area for some time,” he said.
A spokesperson for the United States European Command told the Daily Wire, &#8220;We are working closely with our UK counterparts to monitor this situation, minimize impacts and ensure the safety of US personnel, their families, and the local community.&#8221;
The spokesperson added that the command would not discuss its security posture:
&#8220;For operational security reasons we will not discuss specific force protection measures. U.S. European Command remains vigilant and will take appropriate actions to ensure the safety and security of our U.S. service members, civilians, contractors, and their families across the European theater. We constantly assess a variety of factors that determine what measures we institute or modify to protect our installations, our people and their families.&#8221;

The Telegraph <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/09/27/bomb-squad-sent-to-village-near-raf-base-several-arrested/?WT.mc_id=tmgoff_tw_post_near-raf-base-several-arrested/">reported</a> that authorities are investigating whether there is a link to the Iranian regime. Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations walked a Starlink internet terminal over to Iran’s delegation after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a fiery speech at the U.N. on Thursday — but the Iranian diplomat refused to take it.
Ambassador Danny Danon <a href="https://x.com/dannydanon/status/2103228972767305919">posted</a> a video of the exchange on X, captioning it, “The Iranian representative didn’t want the Starlink,” followed by a sad-face emoji.
The video shows Danon carrying a Starlink device across the U.N. General Assembly hall toward the Iranian delegation.
“I thought it was appropriate to deliver the Starlink,” Danon told an Iranian diplomat seated at the delegation’s table. “If you heard the prime minister, it could be very useful for you to allow the Iranian people to get their freedom after what you did to them.”
“Do you want to take it and deliver it back to Tehran?” Danon continued. “It can be very useful for you in Iran. We love the Iranian people, and we pray for the regime change there. It will come that day.”
The Iranian diplomat, wearing a translation headset, did not respond. He avoided eye contact with Danon and looked away as the Israeli ambassador stood nearby holding the Starlink terminal.
The exchange came shortly after Netanyahu held up a Starlink communications terminal during his address to the General Assembly while discussing Iran’s restrictions on internet access.
“This is a communications device, Starlink, that allows people to access truth, to exercise choice, to exercise freedom of thought and freedom of speech,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu said he would leave the device with the president of the U.N. General Assembly so that it could eventually be given to Iranian officials who defect from the regime.
“So when they inevitably defect, they too will be able to freely tell their story on social media,” Netanyahu said.
After the Iranian regime cracked down on anti-government protests and restricted internet access, the Trump administration moved to help Iranians circumvent the government’s efforts to cut them off from the outside world. 
<a href="https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/u-s-smuggled-thousands-of-starlink-terminals-into-iran-after-protest-crackdown-69a8c74f">The Wall Street Journal</a> reported that the State Department purchased nearly 7,000 Starlink terminals, most of them in January, after senior Trump administration officials decided to redirect funds from other internet-freedom initiatives toward purchasing the terminals.
The terminals were intended to help anti-regime activists bypass internet shutdowns and get footage from inside Iran to the outside world, according to officials cited by the Journal.
The human rights organization Witness estimated in January that at least 50,000 Starlink terminals were operating in Iran, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvgzk91leweo">according to the BBC</a>, while activists said the number was likely to have increased. The Iranian government has sought to criminalize the technology. Legislation passed last year made using, buying, or selling Starlink terminals punishable by up to two years in prison, while distributing or importing more than 10 terminals can carry a sentence of up to 10 years, the BBC reported.
Netanyahu used much of his speech to defend Israel’s military campaign against Iran, including its strikes on the country’s nuclear facilities.
“Devastating Iran’s nuclear facilities was hard. It was very hard to do,” Netanyahu said. “But for me, it was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever had to make as prime minister. Because if we hadn’t done it, we’d all be dead.”
He argued that Israel’s actions were also protecting other nations, including some of the countries whose representatives walked out of the chamber to make a spectacle.
“In defending itself, Israel is also defending many of the countries whose delegates just left this hall,” Netanyahu said, adding that some foreign leaders privately thank Israel for destroying Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Before beginning his remarks, Netanyahu addressed the diplomats who had walked out of the chamber.
“Before I begin, just a quick announcement: If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now,” Netanyahu said.
The Iranian delegation, which was absent during the speech, left a photograph of slain Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani at its seat during Netanyahu’s speech. Soleimani was killed in a 2020 U.S. drone strike in Baghdad.
Netanyahu also praised President Donald Trump for his role in confronting Iran, calling him Israel’s “great American” partner.
“Decades ago, he understood that if left unchallenged, the fanatic Ayatollahs who chant ‘Death to America, Death to Israel’ would eventually carry out their mad fantasies,” Netanyahu said. “So Israel and America acted together, not only to protect ourselves, but to save civilization.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held up a Hezbollah pager during his United Nations speech Thursday, as dozens of diplomats walked out before he took the stage.
“Remember these things?” Netanyahu asked the audience, holding up the device. “Well, I can tell you this: Hezbollah certainly remembers them.”
Netanyahu was referring to the September 2024 operation in which thousands of pagers used by Hezbollah members exploded across Lebanon.
The Israeli prime minister touted Israel’s military campaign against Hezbollah, saying the terror group’s arsenal of approximately 150,000 ballistic missiles and rockets had been significantly degraded and that many of its leaders had been killed.
“Hezbollah’s leaders? Dead. Their spirit? Broken,” Netanyahu said.
Before beginning his remarks, Netanyahu addressed the diplomats who had walked out.

He also pointed to Israel’s strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities, saying destroying the sites was “one of the easiest decisions” he had made as prime minister because failing to do so would have left Israel facing an existential threat.

Netanyahu accused Mamdani of having &#8220;praised criminals convicted of supporting Hamas.&#8221; He pointed to Mamdani’s associations with individuals he said had supported Hamas, including leftist livestreamer Hasan Piker, whom Netanyahu noted had said: “America deserved 9/11.”
He also accused Mamdani of inviting into his home a Palestinian journalist who had filmed Hamas terrorists beating and torturing Israeli hostages and later acknowledged refusing to publish the footage to protect the terrorists. Netanyahu further pointed to posts he said Mamdani’s wife had “liked,” including one praising the October 7 massacre and another saying Tel Aviv should not exist.
“You refuse to condemn any of that,” Netanyahu said. “You falsely and repeatedly accuse Israel of genocide.”
Netanyahu’s comments came after Mamdani had called him a “war criminal” and said he would seek to have him arrested if he came to New York. Mamdani’s administration later determined that the city lacked independent legal authority to enforce the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant.
“Mr. Mamdani, you tried to stop me from coming here, you tried — you tried to silence me,” Netanyahu said. “Well, you can’t silence me, you can’t silence the truth.”
The Israeli leader then turned to what he called the “eighth front” of the war: the battle over Israel’s image in the international media and on social media.
“It’s the war for truth,” Netanyahu said. “It is waged in the world’s media and, most perniciously, on social media.”

Netanyahu accused Qatar and Turkey of spending billions of dollars to spread what he described as “antisemitic lies” about Israel. He specifically targeted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accusing him of hosting Hamas leaders, calling for Israel’s destruction, and seeking greater control over Jerusalem.
“He says he’s going to be the ruler of Jerusalem,” Netanyahu said of Erdogan. “No, sir. You won’t. This is our country, our city, our eternal capital.”
Netanyahu also accused Erdogan of “murdering thousands of Kurdish civilians,” denying the Armenian genocide, jailing journalists and opposition leaders, illegally occupying northern Cyprus, and regularly transgressing against Greece.
Toward the end of his speech, Netanyahu held up another device — a Starlink communications terminal — as he addressed Iran’s restrictions on internet access.

He pointed to Bethlehem as an example, arguing that Christians were pushed out after the city was transferred to Palestinian Authority control.
Netanyahu also highlighted the ongoing threat to Israelis in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank, arguing that international attention has focused disproportionately on a small number of problematic settlers while overlooking Arab terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians.
He cited the recent attack on Neria Leiter, a reserve soldier who was mowed down by a Palestinian terrorist and is fighting for his life in a Jerusalem hospital. Leiter is the son of Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States.
Netanyahu said he had visited the Leiter family before traveling to New York and noted that Yechiel Leiter’s oldest son, Moshe, was killed three years ago while clearing a booby-trapped building in Gaza.
“Despite the pain, despite the agony, we do not give in,” Netanyahu said.

Battleground GOP Senate candidates facing pressure over high gas prices are breaking with President Donald Trump over the Iran war.
The break began Monday with Iowa Republican Senate candidate Ashley Hinson and was followed just hours later by Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers. By Tuesday, Ohio Sen. Jon Husted had also called for the immediate end of the military conflict, as Republicans up and down the ballot <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/latest-polls/2026">face bleak poll numbers</a> with just 41 days to go.
“The war in Iran needs to end to bring costs down — but Michigan families can’t afford to wait,” Rogers<a href="https://x.com/MikeRogersForMI/status/2102115999025672433?s=20"> said</a> in a grocery-store-themed campaign video. “So until this war is over, I’m calling for a temporary embargo on American diesel exports.”
The messaging marks a rare break with the White House as the national average for a gallon of regular gas hits $4.47, while the average in battleground Michigan stands at $4.84, according to AAA.
“The war needs to come to an end as quickly as possible so that we can lower gas prices,” Husted told <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/09/22/jon-husted-iran-war-quick-end-trump-01088614">Politico</a> Tuesday.
In Iowa, Hinson said the prolonged military campaign is “squeezing” her constituents.
“Iowans are being squeezed and shouldn’t have to foot the bill at the pump or the checkout line for the war in Iran. We need to use every option at our disposal to provide some relief from high prices,” Hinson said.
She proposed suspending the gas tax, pausing diesel exports, expanding E15 availability, reinstating the $1-per-gallon biodiesel tax credit and creating a diesel relief program for farmers and truckers facing higher costs.
“I am working every day to deliver bipartisan results for Iowans, and I will work with anyone who is ready to tackle this challenge immediately,” she said.
Critics, however, point out that Hinson repeatedly <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/MemberVotes?Session=2nd&amp;Title=war+powers&amp;utm">voted</a> against resolutions invoking the War Powers Resolution to direct the removal of U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran. She voted against such measures in March, April, May, and July, as well as a <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2026307?Title=war%20powers">September resolution</a> that passed the House 220-204.
Almost seven months into the conflict, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s leadership remains defiant as Trump warned at the United Nations General Assembly that he may &#8220;annihilate&#8221; the country without a peace deal. 
In response, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended Tehran’s nuclear program during his U.N. address Wednesday, insisting Iran will not give up what he called its right to peaceful nuclear technology.
“For our sick people, it&#8217;s cure and treatment. For the agricultural sector, it&#8217;s food security. For industries, advancement and progress. And supply of electrical energy,” Pezeshkian said.

A U.S. diplomat walked out of the United Nations General Assembly Wednesday as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused the United States and Israel of terrorism and claimed Iran has only acted in self-defense.
Audible boos erupted from the crowd as the emcee announced Pezeshkian’s impending speech, setting a tense tone before the Iranian president took the podium.
Pezeshkian was delivering his prepared remarks when he accused the U.S. and Israel of attacking Iranian scientists, civilians, and infrastructure.
“Those who are terrorists, and train and protect terrorists, describe us as such. We have only defended ourselves. We are not terrorists,” Pezeshkian said as the U.S. diplomat walked out of the chamber.
Pezeshkian continued his attack on the United States and Israel after the diplomat&#8217;s departure, claiming that Iran had been the victim of aggression and insisting that Tehran had not targeted civilians.
“America and Israel attacked us equipped with the latest technology and weapon systems, and our people stood steadfast,” Pezeshkian said. “Yes, they did hit us, but we did not bend the knee, we did not bow our head.”
He accused the United States and Israel of targeting Iranian universities, hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure, while also accusing Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza.
“When I took over the responsibilities as president, they assassinated Ismail Haniyeh in Iran on the day of my inauguration,” Pezeshkian said, referring to the Hamas leader who was killed in Tehran in July 2024. Haniyeh was killed by an explosive device planted by an agent of Israel at the guesthouse where he was staying in northern Tehran.
At another point during his remarks, Pezeshkian held up a photograph of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — who was killed in joint U.S.-Israeli strikes in February — as he defended Iran and criticized the United States and Israel.

Pezeshkian&#8217;s remarks came one day after President Donald Trump used his own U.N. address to issue a stark warning to Iran over its nuclear program.
“I have a big decision to make,” Trump said Tuesday. “Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before — maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world? Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly?”
Trump also warned that Iran will not be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon and described the Islamic Republic as the “number one sponsor of terror.”
Pezeshkian responded by claiming Iran’s nuclear program is intended to provide energy and advance the country rather than produce weapons. 
“We seek energy for progress, not to threaten societies with weapons,” Pezeshkian said. “For our sick people, it&#8217;s cure and treatment. For the agricultural sector, it&#8217;s food security. For industries, advancement and progress. And supply of electrical energy.”
Pezeshkian then rejected any effort to limit Iran’s access to peaceful nuclear technology, saying Tehran would not surrender what he called its inherent right.
“We will not, we will not bow our head and give up the right that is inherently ours,” Pezeshkian said. “We say it clearly: no nuclear weapons and no limitations to peaceful nuclear technology.”
He also accused the international community of applying “double standards” to Israel and Iran over nuclear weapons and inspections.
“The nuclear weapon is in Israel, but the inspectors in Iran. Israel kills, but Iran is subject to sanctions,” Pezeshkian said.
Pezeshkian directly addressed Trump&#8217;s remarks, accusing the president of violating the principles of the United Nations and vowing that Iran would not surrender under pressure.
“The resistance of the Iranian people will only increase in the face of sanctions, increased pressure, increased bullying,” Pezeshkian said. “We will never bow our head or bend at the knee.”
The Iranian president repeatedly characterized Tehran&#8217;s military capabilities as defensive, saying Iran needs enough power to deter future attacks.
“Iran must be powerful, so as to avoid being threatened,” Pezeshkian said. “We do not wish to use our power for hegemony, and we do not seek our security in the insecurity of others.”
He also warned against further conflict around the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran would not accept restrictions on its access to the waterway while other countries use it to support military operations against Tehran.
“We cannot let some have free access and gain their interest from a waterway while at the same time using that waterway to impose their aggressions upon us,” Pezeshkian said. “We will not succumb to that.”
He warned that expanding the conflict would threaten security across the region, saying, “The expansion of warfare will not result in security.”
Pezeshkian then turned to Gaza, defending Palestinian “resistance” and arguing that Israeli military operations would not eliminate it.
“As long as occupation, aggression, and injustice persist in the world, resistance will continue,” he said. “If it is weakened in one form, it will re-emerge in others — perhaps stronger still.”
Trump offered a sharply different characterization of the Iranian regime during his U.N. address, accusing Tehran of killing tens of thousands of its own citizens. Trump said the regime had “slaughtered over 72,000” people this year and that 10,000 were recently killed for protesting.
Despite his attacks on the United States, Pezeshkian said Iran remains willing to negotiate with Washington — but rejected negotiations conducted under military pressure.
“Iran must be understood by Mr. Trump and those who seek to bully us that we are ready for dialogue and diplomacy and negotiations without accepting the language of force,” Pezeshkian said.

Candor and clarity of purpose are not themes traditionally associated with United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings in New York. The annual summit, now in its 81st year, has long been a preferred venue for dictators and kleptocrats to make jargon-laden national — or, quite often, personal — cases against the West, while ironically doing so from the Big Apple, the beating heart of American capitalism.
In response, American presidents over the past two decades have pushed past these theatrics, using the summits as opportunities to build consensus or rally support for the American position on global affairs.
Not so with President Trump. And that may be a good thing.
Despite occasional references to domestic matters — by now a hallmark of almost any Trump speech — his address offered remarkable clarity and candor on Iran policy, casting the issue in zero-sum terms.
Trump outlined his multiple attempts to negotiate with the clerical regime over its nuclear program, all to no avail. Each time, the regime’s spurning, bad-faith engagement, foot-dragging, or delay brought about a fate that could have been avoided. Put differently, the Islamic Republic is the main force pushing Trump to embrace the role of Commander in Chief every time he tries to act as Dealmaker in Chief.
Elsewhere, Trump framed Iran’s conventional and asymmetric missile and military buildup as a shield designed to protect its nuclear infrastructure from attack. In terms of range, these projectiles do not merely threaten U.S. military bases or nations covered by CENTCOM. As Trump noted, the Islamic Republic even possesses a ballistic missile capable of reaching continental Europe — a capability that Iranian military officials, some of whom are no longer around, previously dangled over European policymakers like a sword of Damocles. Ignoring these threats would have allowed Tehran to hold a wider range of targets at risk and, ultimately, threaten the U.S. homeland.
Trump used this background to reach an inflection point: Will there be more war, or will the region settle down and focus on peace, prosperity, and stability? Although the president framed this as a fork in the road for U.S. strategy toward Iran, in reality, the choice is Tehran’s, not Trump’s.
The president’s nonchalant tone as he laid out his options underscored the point. For now, the administration is playing a strong hand, thanks to the economic, political, and military leverage Washington has accumulated over the last few months. That leverage allows the United States to exploit the current state of neither war nor peace with the Islamic Republic and box in the regime’s leaders.
The U.S. has essentially zeroed out Iranian crude exports through a maritime blockade and is cutting off Iran’s illicit network of foreign enablers through tough sanctions. This one-two punch handicaps the regime’s efforts to move money and generate the revenue needed to address the economic shortcomings at home wrought by decades of mismanagement and spiraling inflation. To backstop all of this, Washington is also maintaining significant U.S. military forces in the region.
Accordingly, Trump need not rush into either a deal or a war. He has time to explore his options and position the United States to capitalize on any Iranian misstep or overreach, whether at the negotiating table or on the battlefield. Come what may, be it engagement or escalation by Iran (and if the past is prologue, there will be a bit of the former and a lot of the latter), Trump has already told the world how the United States will respond.
The options Trump laid out starkly at the UN are to send the regime “into hell with no chance of survival” or to ink a deal “that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before.” By planting a flag early on where the United States may go, Trump shifts the burden back onto the Islamic Republic — and, with it, the costs of being the first mover in the latest iteration of a 47-year crisis.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he is weighing whether to strike a deal with Iran or “annihilate the Islamic Republic,” as he vowed that Tehran will never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
“I have a big decision to make,” Trump said during his address to the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday morning. “Will a deal be made with Iran that lets them rebuild and create a far greater country than it ever was before — maybe one of the greatest in the Middle East or even the world? Or do I annihilate the Islamic Republic and do it quickly, never giving them a chance to kill and destroy people and countries again?”
Iran’s U.N. representative looked on with a blank stare as Trump made the threat.

The warning comes as Trump continues to make Iran’s nuclear program a central focus of his foreign policy following U.S. military strikes against the country’s nuclear and military infrastructure. 
Trump devoted a significant portion of his United Nations General Assembly address to Iran, describing the Islamic Republic as the “number one sponsor of terror” and defending the U.S. military operations against Tehran.
“There is no better example of a danger that was allowed to gather strength at the world&#8217;s peril than the number one sponsor of terror, the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump said. “For 51 years, the fanatical Iranian regime has ruled by bloodshed and mass murder, spreading death and carnage and chaos across the entire Middle East and beyond. They were the bully of the Middle East, but they&#8217;re the bully no more.”
Trump connected Iran’s support for terrorism to the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, pointing out that its third anniversary is approaching.
“In two weeks, we will mark the third anniversary of the October 7th attack in Israel, where terrorists funded by Iran tortured, mutilated, and killed 1,200 very innocent civilians, including dozens of Americans, and many babies. Babies. Little, tiny, beautiful babies.”
Trump said Iran’s supreme leader celebrated the October 7 attack and described it as a “service to humanity,” while also accusing the Iranian regime of killing tens of thousands of its own citizens.
“Iran&#8217;s Supreme Leader celebrated that massacre and called it a service to humanity. The same regime slaughtered over 72,000 of its citizens this year. Recently, 10,000 were killed for protesting.”

Trump said Iran’s support for terrorism and its treatment of its own citizens demonstrated the potential danger of the regime obtaining a nuclear weapon that would shield it from repercussions.
“Just imagine such a vile regime were ever empowered to carry out large-scale terror attacks from behind a nuclear shield. This was the reality we had to confront — the reality that far too many preferred to ignore. They all ignored it. Many presidents and many others just wanted to ignore it. They were unwilling to do anything about it, but they knew the problem.”
Trump claimed Iran made a “mad dash” to a nuclear bomb from “behind this conventional ballistic missile shield,” which would have resulted in them being free to “spread terror and death forever, knowing that any attempt to stop them would face an arsenal of nuclear annihilation.”
Trump also touted the results of Operation Epic Fury, claiming the campaign had destroyed Iran’s military capabilities.
“As a result of Operation Epic Fury, all 159 ships of their navy are now lying at the bottom of the sea,” Trump said. “Likewise, their air force is gone, their radar is gone, their anti-aircraft equipment is gone, their missile and drone manufacturing capacity is almost gone.”
Trump said the only thing Iran has not lost is a devastating inflation rate of 300%. 
Despite the ongoing hostilities, Trump said he expects Iran could ultimately agree to a deal after the November midterm elections. He said he believes the Iranian regime is waiting to see the results of the election, despite him not running.
“I am not running,” Trump said. “The Republican Party is running, and I&#8217;ll be helping them. But I am not running.”
“I gave absolutely no credence and will not give credence to the election when it comes to Iran,” he continued. “It doesn&#8217;t even enter my mind. The only thing that does is that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
Trump also turned to other key issues including the war in Ukraine, drug cartels, Cuba, the International Criminal Court, and the persecution of Christians around the world.
Trump compared Latin American drug cartels to the Islamic State, arguing that the United States should take the same approach toward the cartels that it used against ISIS.
&#8220;The cartels are the ISIS of the Western Hemisphere. &#8230; Like ISIS, they should be killed, exiled, or detained as enemy combatants without the possibility of release, which is what we&#8217;re doing.,” Trump said.
Trump has designated multiple cartel organizations as foreign terrorist organizations and has expanded the military’s role in targeting drug-trafficking networks around the Western Hemisphere. 
Trump also criticized Cuba, continuing his broader criticism of the communist government and allowing adversaries to have a foothold close to America&#8217;s shores.
As he made his comments, the Cuban delegation walked out of the room.

He then turned his attention to the International Criminal Court, calling it an “anti-American tribunal” and arguing that it has no jurisdiction over American service members.
“They&#8217;re an evil group of people,” he added, before calling on ICC member nations to “officially resign from this rogue institution immediately.”
Trump also criticized the United Nations Human Rights Council over its focus on the United States’ policies on transgender mutilation of minors instead of the persecution of Christians around the world.
“The craven hypocrites of Human Rights Council have little to say about the persecution of Christians,” Trump said. “Christians are being persecuted all over the world. It&#8217;s not even believable.”

Trump is now set to meet with several world leaders on the sidelines of the gathering, including British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodríguez, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Rodríguez’s meeting with Trump will be the first since the U.S. captured former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

President Donald Trump says he is in a &#8220;deciding mode&#8221; on Iran, weighing &#8220;wiping Iran out, letting them rot economically or making a deal.&#8221;
Trump explained Sunday that getting Iran to negotiate is difficult when “some of the officials are hiding like rats.” Trump <a href="https://x.com/FoxNews/status/2101672307622101431">told</a> Fox News&#8217; Trey Yingst that “very big things are going to be happening in the not-so-distant future” in Iran. He said, “My question is if and when do I blow the entire nation up? They better behave.&#8221;
President Trump will be attending the UN General Assembly this week and said he would be open to meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who will also be in attendance. The United States <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/live-updates-iranian-protests-intensify-as-citizens-demand-end-to-ayatollah-rule">approved</a> visas for Iran’s “core delegation” on Thursday. The State Department said the move was “consistent with our host country obligations.” 
The war has continued to escalate in September, with Iran shooting down at least two U.S. MQ-1 drones in recent days. Officials have not said where the aircraft went down or which variant of the MQ-1 was involved. Iran also struck a U.S.-contracted vessel near the Strait of Hormuz this week, according to Yingst&#8217;s sources. One projectile hit the ship, causing minor injuries to those aboard, including &#8220;U.S. personnel.&#8221;
The fighting has also spread to Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, where Iran-backed Houthi forces attacked Riyadh on Saturday. The State Department has urged Americans to reconsider travel to the region amid continuing missile and drone activity, warning that attacks are hitting not only military bases but also cities, airports, infrastructure and energy sites.
Ahead of a Tuesday meeting with Gulf leaders at the UN, Trump told Axios on Thursday, &#8220;I want to find out where they are and how they are doing. We have been very protective of them.&#8221;
Republicans are eager to reach a solution in Iran with the war causing increased prices for crude oil. The rise in energy costs has affected other goods and services, stirring dissatisfaction around affordability shortly before the midterm elections in November. Diesel prices hit an all-time high in September, reaching $6.40 per gallon on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/diesel-prices-hit-all-time-high?author=Brecca+Stoll&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Diesel+Prices+Hit+All-Time+High">Thursday</a>. Diesel is up 73% since last year. Trump said the increase in energy costs however were a “very inexpensive price to pay for what we’ve done” referencing his administration&#8217;s efforts to curb Iran’s ability to obtain a nuclear weapon. 
The administration predicts that prices will “come tumbling down” shortly after the midterm elections. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said crude oil could fall as low as $40 per barrel when the war ends. “We’re going to get on the other side of this Iran conflict, and I expect that oil will come down,” Bessent <a href="https://energy.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/oil-and-gas/us-treasury-secretary-scott-bessent-sees-crude-oil-as-low-as-40-post-iran-war-lower-bond-yields/133788620">said</a>. “We’re going to be very much oversupplied in the oil market after this.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth said the U.S. military would not and could not hide a combat death, pushing back on a Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/09/18/more-us-troops-have-died-amid-iran-war-has-disclosed-publicly/">report</a> that American fatalities in the Iran war exceed what the Pentagon has publicly disclosed.

The Post reported Friday, citing six officials familiar with the War Department&#8217;s internal casualty accounting, that at least 22 troops have died since the war with Iran began in February — four more than 18 <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/24/pentagon-removed-four-official-iran-war-death-toll.html">listed</a> in the Pentagon&#8217;s public Defense Casualty Analysis System, or DCAS. One official put the toll at 23 and said some of the additional deaths were not directly caused by combat but involved personnel deployed to the Middle East during the fighting. The Post said the Pentagon declined to address the discrepancy before publication.

The clash reopens a fight over the Pentagon&#8217;s bookkeeping that first surfaced in July, when the DCAS&#8217;s public death toll briefly dropped from 18 to 14 after the four most recent fatalities were reclassified. Saudi Arabia said Saturday that its air defenses destroyed a ballistic missile fired by Yemen&#8217;s Houthi rebels at Riyadh, the first strike on the Saudi fighting with the Iran-backed group reignited this summer.
The Saudi-led coalition <a href="https://apnews.com/article/yemen-saudi-arabia-b1286cad816dd3e553f50f6dd5205972">confirmed</a> the interception hours after the dawn launch. Residents reported hearing an explosion, and journalists saw firefighters extinguish a blaze on the Aramco-branded fuel tank at a depot near King Khalid International Airport. No casualties were reported.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the Houthis also tried to hit civilian infrastructure in Yanbu — the Red Sea terminus of a key Saudi oil pipeline — as well as Taif, Baysh and Farasan, all of which were thwarted. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree <a href="https://www.france24.com/en/middle-east/20260919-smoke-flames-seen-near-riyadh-airport-major-flight-disruptions-reported">claimed</a> missile, cruise-missile and drone strikes on &#8220;sensitive sites&#8221; in Riyadh and on Aramco facilities in Yanbu, calling them retaliation for a Saudi attempt to hit Sanaa.
The attack is the latest turn in a monthslong escalation. Houthi forces launched a ground offensive on September 3 and within roughly a week had overrun most of Yemen&#8217;s Red Sea coastline, including the port city of Mokha and islands controlling the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical artery for global shipping. The United Nations <a href="https://www.npr.org/2026/09/18/nx-s1-5973810/houthi-attacks-saudi-oil-world-markets">says</a> the fighting has displaced around 125,000 people.
Strikes on the kingdom itself have grown more frequent. A Sept. 8 barrage wounded 73 people and set Saudi oil facilities on fire. Days later, Riyadh <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/09/16/middleeast/saudi-arabia-houthis-mecca-attack-intl-hnk">accused</a> the group of flying a drone toward Mecca, calling the city&#8217;s security a &#8220;red line&#8221;; the Houthis denied it. On Thursday, Saudi officials said debris from an intercepted drone killed a Yemeni resident of the kingdom — the first fatality reported on Saudi soil since the latest fighting began.
Saudi Arabia is running short on interceptor missiles, <a href="https://apnews.com/article/yemen-saudi-arabia-b1286cad816dd3e553f50f6dd5205972">according</a> to regional officials cited by the Associated Press, and has asked France, Britain, Pakistan and Egypt for air defense assistance. The United States, its principal arms supplier, has been depleted by six months of its own war with Iran and has so far limited its response to intelligence-sharing rather than direct strikes on the Houthis.

It’s mutually beneficial. By contrast, over the past few decades the United States has also poured more than $7 billion into the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and related humanitarian aid for Palestinians. What do we get in return? <a href="https://x.com/OliLondonTV/status/1782403571520012693/video/1">Cheers</a> when Americans die. <a href="https://x.com/JusticeWar98619/status/2099307409856491631/video/1">Chants</a> calling for our death. Third, Israel is not murdering Christians. If a Christian is accidentally killed in an Israeli strike, that is a tragedy. If a Muslim civilian dies in an Israeli strike, that is a tragedy. But it’s morally moronic and misleading to conflate unintentional civilian deaths in a war against embedded terrorists with intentional terrorism. 
Meanwhile, the consistency is still nowhere to be found in any corner of his corrupt worldview. 
Hitler Hasan says Israel striking actual terrorists in Gaza is far worse than Russia invading Ukraine for no defensible reason and killing tens of thousands of innocents.

He lambasts Israel’s supposed “75 years of apartheid” against the Arabs — yet last I checked, there are over 2.1 million Arabs in Israel with full civil rights and freedoms, and zero Jews in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Gaza.

Meanwhile, I’m just wondering where the moral litmus test ends, and the ignorance of selective outrage begins. Which targeted attacks are we required to care about? Does this man know <a href="https://x.com/dw_europe/status/2099483318051832189">Turkish</a> authorities just swept up more than 100 people in raids on LGBTQ groups while he sits in a pretty palace in Los Angeles and calls America the greatest evil? He claimed his favorite flag is the Hezbollah flag. Does he know Hezbollah has called for killing gay people as routinely as Americans show up for rec-league sports? He says Hamas, the terror group governing Gaza, is better than Israel. Does he know they can rape women and execute people for whatever “moral crime” comes to mind that day?
Maybe, maybe not. But here’s what we do know. He’s dangerous. He’s dishonest, and his views directly contradict every Western value that has made America so successful.
He is the antithesis of the American experiment. He’s a poster child for ending birth tourism. And he’s already <a href="https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/2100956457298473310/video/1">stumping</a> for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in 2028. If the two of them march together to belittle the country to dust and rebuild it within their morally inverted framework, the end result will be unrecognizable. And if we vote in favor of this frightening future? We’ll have deserved every last bit of the fallout.
