An Australian political activist and online provocateur who mocked Billie Eilish’s anti-ICE rhetoric says he was deported from the United States after immigration authorities questioned him over social media posts joking about moving into the singer’s California home.
Drew Pavlou, 24, claimed in a series of X posts that he was detained for roughly 30 hours at Los Angeles International Airport before being denied entry into the country. Pavlou speculated that Eilish’s legal team contacted the Department of Homeland Security, prompting his removal.
“Billie Eilish got me deported from the US — I think her legal team contacted DHS,” Pavlou <a href="https://x.com/DrewPavlou/status/2022908458723590378">wrote</a>, posting a selfie with a police officer in the background. He said immigration officials repeatedly questioned him about posts in which he claimed he planned to fly to the United States and move into Eilish’s Malibu mansion, insisting the statements were satire.

Pavlou’s posts were a direct response to Eilish’s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/billie-eilish-roundly-mocked-for-stolen-land-comments-at-grammys?author=Amanda+Harding&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Billie+Eilish+Roundly+Mocked+For+%E2%80%98Stolen+Land%E2%80%99+Comments+At+Grammys">remarks</a> during her acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards, where she declared, “No one is illegal on stolen land,” before adding, “F–k ICE.”
In the days following the speech, Pavlou <a href="https://x.com/DrewPavlou/status/2018442764384637336">launched</a> a crowdfunding campaign claiming he would travel to the United States and attempt to move into Eilish’s home, echoing her “stolen land” framing. “I am flying to the USA next Friday to attempt to move into Billie Eilish’s beachside Malibu mansion,” he wrote, adding, “No human being is illegal on stolen land.”
The fundraiser was later <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/02/04/us-news/australian-activist-drew-pavlou-launches-campaign-to-move-into-billie-eilishs-la-mansion-after-stolen-land-grammys-rant/">removed</a> after the platform said it could not verify his plan or the recipient of the donations. Pavlou subsequently launched a new fundraiser on GiveSendGo seeking money to fly to California and “buy” the property.
The mansion Pavlou referenced was not owned by Eilish herself but by her brother, Finneas O’Connell, and had been sold in 2022 for $5.6 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. The home was later destroyed in the Palisades Fire. Pavlou said he was unaware of that fact when he created the fundraiser.
In follow-up posts, Pavlou leaned into the irony of the situation, mocking the outcome as an unintended endorsement of border enforcement by leftist figures.
“She literally said ‘no one is illegal on stolen land’ but called ICE on me,” Pavlou <a href="https://x.com/DrewPavlou/status/2023307696947310683">wrote</a>. “Honestly amazing performance art — I somehow managed to get Billie Eilish and American liberals to endorse border control and deportations.”
Pavlou also claimed immigration officials questioned him extensively about his past activism, including his opposition to the Chinese Communist Party, describing the experience as “legitimately insane.”
Neither Eilish nor her representatives have publicly commented on Pavlou’s claims, and DHS has not confirmed whether any contact occurred between the singer’s legal team and immigration authorities.
Still, the episode has drawn attention online as a case study in the tension between celebrity activism and real-world immigration enforcement — and as Pavlou framed it, proof that even slogans about “stolen land” have limits when it comes to the expense of the sloganeers.

Well, last week we talked about the Oscars, and this week, it’s the Grammys. And I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “Please, God, kill me now, before I have to hear about the Grammys. Otherwise, I’ll be forced to drown this out by sticking my fingers in my ears and whistling Dixie, which may give people the impression that I support the Confederacy when, in fact, I think holding your fellow human beings in bondage, branding and flogging them before selling their families is a horrible thing, and if I were forced to choose between life as a slave and watching the Grammys, I would pretend to think about it, then suddenly break my chains and escape through the alligator-infested swamps of Mississippi, never to return to slavery until the award show was over.”
Okay, maybe that’s not exactly what you’re thinking. I mean, only a degenerate would think something like that. Even just saying it out loud is morally disgusting, though obviously not as bad as the Grammys.
But this year, the Grammy award show was not just the usual self-celebration of a collection of semi-talented drug addicts who set disgustingly explicit words to simplistic and atonal music. This year we got to hear what these addicts think about politics. How great is that?
For instance, Billie Eilish, who won “Best Performance by a Dumpy Person with a Weirdly Skewed Face who Sings as if Even She Doesn’t Want to Hear her Crappy Music,” denounced ICE agents’ arrest of illegal migrants, by saying, “No one is illegal on stolen land.”
In response, the native American Fugawe tribe requested Eilish return her $3 million Los Angeles mansion, since it stands on land that belongs to them. The tribe promised to repay Eilish by burning her heart as a sacrifice to the Great Spirit, after they had devoured her body in a traditional indigenous ceremony. Eilish politely refused as she ran screaming from the award show, explaining that if everyone in California gave their land back, the Native Americans would return the state to poverty, primitivism and savagery, and that’s Gavin Newsom’s job.

Bad Bunny won this year’s Grammy for Best Album by a Puerto Rican Drag Queen. Mr. Bunny immediately demanded that Federal immigration officers stop enforcing Federal Immigration law or else. ICE officers responded by crying out in agitated, high-pitched voices, “Oh no, Bad Bunny is angry at us, whatever shall we do?” then went back to work.
Now, the Super Bowl is this Sunday, and Mr. Bunny is scheduled to do the half-time show at that all-American display of manhood by wearing a dress and denigrating America. So NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was asked to comment on Bunny’s speech. Goodell said, “We at the NFL gave the half-time show to Mr. Bunny to make a strong statement, namely that we have so much money we really don’t give a rat’s ass what our audience thinks, and we will continue to mock the deeply-held beliefs of ordinary Americans while dining on lobster, caviar and champagne served on the naked backs of former Athletes, whose brain injuries have rendered them useless for anything but acting as furniture for the people who got rich off destroying them. Enjoy the show.”
Singer Kehlani won this year’s Grammy for “Most Desperate Attempt to Extend an Evanescent Fifteen Minutes of Fame by Writhing Around Virtually Naked so No One Would Notice She has no Talent.” 
Kehlani also denounced ICE, saying, “It is important for artists to speak out, because our opinions matter to the sort of brain-dead 12-year-olds who listen to this crap. I for one want to inspire the young minority men in our audience to stand up to law enforcement agents with violent and aggressive tactics, which is going to work out great for you. And when you’re in prison, we’ll have your back, or actually some muscle-bound thug in Gen Pop will probably have your back, but at least you can think about how much money we’re making for inspiring you to take action.”
Now, personally, I thought these speeches were boring, conformist, ignorant, destructive, and foul-mouthed displays of misbehavior. Or maybe that was the songs. No, it was the speeches. Or maybe the songs. Whatever.

Singer Billie Eilish is being mocked online for comments she made about “stolen land,” especially as followers point out that she just purchased a $14 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills.
The 24-year-old “Bad Guy” singer stated where she stands on trending issues while accepting the Grammy Award for Song of the Year on Sunday night.
“As grateful as I feel, I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything, but that no one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said from the stage as fellow celebrities cheered and nodded in the crowd.
“’F*ck ICE’ is what I wanna say,” she added.
Social media commenters pointed out the hypocrisy of what she was saying.

The anti-ICE sentiment was strong at the Grammy Awards, with several celebrities showing up wearing “ICE OUT” or “BE GOOD” pins to broadcast their beliefs. Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber sported the buttons, as did Billie Eilish, Kehlani, Samara Joy, Joni Mitchell, and Jack Antonoff.

Country star Jelly Roll responded to questions about current political controversies by saying he’d prefer to stay out of it &#8212; for now.
The 41-year-old celeb made the remarks at the 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony, where he took home three trophies.
When asked about the topic of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on the red carpet, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, managed not to answer the question directly. “So I can tell you that people shouldn’t care to hear my opinion,” DeFord said. “You know, I’m a dumb redneck. I haven’t watched enough.” 
He went on to describe himself as “disconnected” from current events.
“I grew up in a house of, like, insane pandemonium. Like, I didn’t even know politics were f*cking real until I was in my mid-20s in jail. Like, that’s how disconnected &#8230; when you grew up in a drug addict household,” he went on. “You think we, like, had common calls about what’s happening in rural politics? Like, we’re just trying to find a way to survive, man.”

DeFord did promise he’d “have a lot to say about” ICE on social media in the coming days and told fans they would get his thoughts “loud and clear.”
The “Need a Favor” singer also spoke openly about his Christian faith during his Grammys acceptance speech. 
&#8220;They&#8217;re going to try to kick me off here, so just let me try to get this out. First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I&#8217;m listening. Lord, I am listening, Lord. Second of all, I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you,” Jelly Roll said while becoming emotional. “I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn&#8217;t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”
“There was a time in my life, y&#8217;all, that I was broken. That&#8217;s why I wrote this album. I didn&#8217;t think I had a chance, y&#8217;all,&#8221; he said. &#8220;There was days that I thought the darkest things. I was a horrible human.&#8221;

Recording artist Bad Bunny, who is slated to perform the halftime show at the Super Bowl next Sunday, used the Grammys stage to promote anti-ICE messaging.
The Puerto Rican-born performer won the Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” 
“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE out,” the singer, whose legal name is Benito Ocasio, said from the stage during the awards ceremony Sunday night. The crowd of celebrities responded with thunderous applause. 
“We are not savage. We are not animals. We are not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans &#8230; the hate gets more powerful with more hate,” he continued. “The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So, please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. Yeah. We don’t hate them. We love our people, we love our family, and that’s the way to do it, with love. Don’t forget that, please.”

Several other Grammys attendees were spotted wearing “ICE OUT” and “BE GOOD” pins to show their support for anti-ICE activism. This is not the first time Ocasio has voiced his opinion on the matter. 
Ocasio previously referred to ICE agents as “motherf***ers” and “sons of b****es” in a video he posted to Instagram.
The three-time Grammy Award-winner said during an interview that he didn’t book any tour stops in the United States because he was worried ICE agents would target concert attendees.
“There was the issue of — like, f***ing ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he said.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell defended selecting Bad Bunny as the halftime performer at Super Bowl LX after significant backlash following the announcement last fall.
“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said of the performance, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nfl-commish-gives-update-on-bad-bunny-super-bowl-halftime-show-amid-backlash">reported</a>. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
“We’re confident it’s going to be a great show,” the commissioner added. “[Ocasio] understands the platform that he’s on, and I think it’s going to be exciting and a united moment.”

Grammys host Trevor Noah mocked the recording artist while presenting at the annual event on Sunday. 
“Nicki Minaj is not here,” he said during his opening monologue. “She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump, discussing very important issues.”
Noah went on to do a Trump impression and reference Cardi B’s song “WAP,” an acronym that stands for &#8220;wet a** p*ssy.&#8221; He said while trying to sound like the president, “‘Actually Nicki, I have the biggest ass! Everybody’s saying it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it. Look at it, baby.&#8217;”

The gathered celebrities, many wearing &#8220;ICE OUT&#8221; buttons and <a href="https://www.news18.com/movies/hollywood/billie-eilish-slams-ice-during-grammys-victory-speech-no-one-is-illegal-on-stolen-land-aa-9874518.html">whining about</a> how “no one is illegal on stolen land,” cracked up at the bit. 
Noah may not be laughing for long, however. His digs at Minaj were bad enough, but he also made insinuations about Trump’s relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which led to the president threatening legal action.
“Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-rips-total-loser-trevor-noah-over-grammys-epstein-joke-threatens-lawsuit">posted</a> on Truth Social after the event. “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
Minaj has come under fire after coming out in support of Trump in recent months. Most recently, the “Super Bass” singer appeared at an event with the president and called herself his “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/nicki-minaj-says-shes-the-presidents-number-one-fan-at-trump-accounts-summit">number one fan</a>.”
“The hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more,” Minaj said of Trump last week.
“We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him,” she continued. “He has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen.”

The 67th <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/grammys" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grammy Awards</a> raised millions of dollars for fire relief efforts in Southern California while the ratings saw a drop in viewership from 2024.
The CBS telecast of Sunday’s music awards show scored 15.4 million viewers, according to same-day ratings from Nielsen, according to The <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/grammy-awards-tv-ratings-feb-2-2025-1236126284/">Hollywood Reporter</a>. That’s down from the 17 million who tuned in for the 66th Annual Grammy Awards last year. While Sunday’s numbers were down compared to last year, it was the third largest show since 2020, the outlet noted.
Since the pandemic, the Grammy Awards have seen a rollercoaster of viewership, with an average of under 10 million viewers in 2021 and 2022 tuning in to see if their favorite singer would take home the Grammy. In 2023, the show had a slight bounce back to pre-pandemic numbers with 12.55 million watching, before the 17 million number the show brought in last year.

To put those numbers into context, the 2020 Grammys &#8212; which took place before the pandemic and lockdowns &#8212; scored 18.69 million viewers.
During Sunday night’s show, the fires and communities destroyed in the multiple wildfires were top of mind as host Trevor Noah announced the academy would accept donations throughout the evening to help with recovery efforts.

In addition, FireAid benefit concerts in LA helped raise more than $100 million to support ongoing recovery efforts, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/fireaid-benefit-concerts-raised-100-million-los-angeles-1236127036/">outlet</a> noted.
Despite the Sunday show celebrating the efforts by firefighters tackling insane blazes for weeks, the night’s host comedian Trevor Noah turned things political with a jab at President Donald Trump in his opening monologue.
“There’s been a few changes in Washington. I’m going to enjoy tonight because this may be the last time I get to host anything in this country,” Noah told the room.
Several other artists attempted to make the night about political issues as well, with acceptance speeches about DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), transgender issues, and illegal immigrants, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ricky-gervais-torches-grammy-winners-political-speeches">reported</a>.
Shakira was honored for Best Latin pop album and said, “I want to dedicate this award to all of my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved, you’re worth it, and I will always fight for you.” Her comment was in reaction to Trump’s crackdown on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/illegal-immigration">illegal immigration</a>.
Near the end of the show, singer Alicia Keys was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, and claimed that DEI “is not a threat, it’s a gift. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ricky-gervais">Ricky Gervais</a> torched the winners of the 67th Grammy Awards who used their time on the show to give political speeches about things like DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), transgender issues, and illegal immigrants. 
In the post on <a href="https://x.com/rickygervais/status/1886361303268094204">X</a> on Monday, the 63-year-old comedian and actor shared a screenshot of the message he gave celebrities in January of 2020 — when he last hosted the Golden Globes — and told stars,  “You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything.”
He captioned his post, “They’re still not listening.”

The producer and director later shared a <a href="https://x.com/gervaisclips/status/1885438197577941012">clip</a> from that unforgettable and brutal NSFW monologue he gave at his final turn hosting the Golden Globes. The monologue ended up going viral after he took a verbal sledgehammer to celebrities and big tech companies for their hypocrisy. In total, the “After Life” star has hosted the Globes five times.
To open the show, Gervais said it would be the last time he planned to host the Golden Globes or any other awards shows, sharing that he doesn’t “care anymore. I’m joking. I never did. NBC clearly don’t care either — fifth time. I mean, Kevin Hart was fired from the Oscars because of some offensive tweets — hello?”
He closed out the segment by telling stars not to use the platform to “make a political speech” noting that they weren’t in any position to “lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.”

Female rapper Doechii praised God numerous times during an emotional acceptance speech when she won her first ever Grammy Award for Best Rap Album during the 67th <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/grammys" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Grammy</a> Awards <a href="https://x.com/ComplexMusic/status/1886228660551884867">show</a> held in Los Angeles.
On Sunday night, the 26-year-old rapper &#8212; born Jaylah Ji&#8217;mya Hickmon &#8212; took the stage after rapper Cardi B called out her name for Best Rap Album for “Alligator Bites Never Heal.” She held back tears as she promised not to make her speech long before talking about the glory of God.
“But this category was introduced in 1989, and two women have won … three women have won — Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Doechii,” the rapper said. “I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I’ve bared my life.”
“I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get,” she added as she got emotional. “And I have to thank God. I need to thank my beautiful mother for coaching me.”
She went on to thank her label, her fans, and she said &#8220;to the swamp,&#8221; before she explained that she’s the Swamp Princess, because it&#8217;s where she comes from.

“There’s so many people out there who probably don’t know who I am. I call myself the Swamp Princess because I’m from Tampa, Florida,” the rapper said. “Tampa has so much talent … labels, go to Tampa, there’s talent there.”
“The last thing I want to say is … I know that there is some black girl out there, so many black women out there that are watching me right now and I want to tell you: You can do it. Anything is possible,” Doechii said. “Anything is possible.” 
“Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you, that tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark or that you’re not smart enough or that you’re too dramatic or you’re too loud,” she added. “You are exactly who you need to be, to be right where you are, and I am a testimony. Praise God!”
The comments definitely moved the crowd as the stars and performers in the room cheered and gave the young rapper a standing ovation.

Country music star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/country-star-lainey-wilson-says-long-line-of-farmers-taught-her-work-ethic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lainey Wilson</a> opened up about what she called the “dark days” she went through before her music career finally took off.
Speaking to the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/lainey-wilson-interview-whirlwind-9659b6919f25ff037f732e42a4ef0c74" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Associated Press</a>, the 32-year-old country singer talked about living in a bumper-pull camper trailer off her mentor’s studio for three years and freezing during the winters before one of her songs hit number one, 13 years after moving to Nashville to make her dream a reality.
&#8220;It’s been a journey,&#8221; Wilson said. &#8220;I’ve been in Nashville for 13 years and I tell people I’m like, it feels like I got there yesterday, but I also feel like I’ve been there my whole life.&#8221;
&#8220;I had always heard that Nashville was a 10-year town,” she added. “And I believe ‘Things a Man Oughta Know’ went No. 1, like, 10 years and a day after being there.”
&#8220;I should have had moments where I should have packed it up and went home,” Wilson continued. “I should have went back to Louisiana. But I never had those feelings. I think there’s something really beautiful about being naive. And, since I was a little girl, I’ve always had stars in my eyes.&#8221;
Speaking to “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrecteS0lcs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Good Morning America</a>” in 2022, Wilson said returning to that parking lot where she lived in a trailer brought her a “sense of hopefulness,” but also a “little sadness.”
“There were a lot of dark days for me,” Wilson said at the time. “I was very lonely. I didn&#8217;t know hardly anybody in town.&#8221;

I had to sleep in three or four jackets, three pairs of socks just to stay warm,&#8221; she added. &#8220;When I look back, honestly, if I had known it was going to be this hard, I don&#8217;t know if I would go and do it again. And that sounds crazy, but it has been hard, but this is my only option.”
On Friday, she released her fifth studio album, titled “Whirlwind,” and said she’s gone through a lot after making that trip from her small hometown of Baskin, Louisiana, to becoming a country star. In February, she took home her first Grammy.
&#8220;The word that I could use to describe the last couple of years is ‘whirlwind,'&#8221; Wilson told the AP. &#8220;I feel like my life has changed a whole lot. But I still feel like the same old girl trying to keep one foot on the ground.&#8221;
&#8220;And so, I think it’s just about grasping on to those things that truly make me, me and the artist where I can tell stories to relate to folks.&#8221;
The country singer previously told <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/country-star-lainey-wilson-career-took-off-after-dark-days-nashville" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> that she’s convinced all the adversity she went through was just part of her “story.”
“And I think the Lord kind of wanted me to live a little bit more life, so I could have more stories to tell, so I could relate to more people,&#8221; Wilson said. &#8220;That&#8217;s what it&#8217;s about when you kind of zoom out and you think about all of this. It&#8217;s important to remember and realize, why are we doing this? And what are we doing this for?&#8221;
&#8220;It&#8217;s just because we all want to feel something. And, I think, because of that rejection, I think people can relate to some of my stories,” she added.

Prosecutors with the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office said charges will not be filed against the rapper — whose real name is Michael Santiago Render — the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/music-news/rapper-killer-mike-not-face-charges-grammys-arrest-1235933428/">Hollywood Reporter</a> reported. In February, Render was arrested at the pre-show ceremony and charged with misdemeanor battery in connection with an alleged <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/assault">physical altercation</a> between him and a security guard, the outlet noted.
“Mr. Render has successfully completed the Office’s Hearing process, including a community service requirement that was imposed,” per Ivor Pine, a spokesperson for the L.A. City Attorney’s Office said. “We have no further comment at this time.&#8221;

On February 4, the outlet <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/music-news/killer-mike-detained-2024-grammys-1235815271/">reported</a> Render’s arrest and posted a video on X showing the rapper being escorted away from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the Grammys were taking place. The rap artist was led away in handcuffs. A person can be heard shouting, “Free Mike!” as police escort the rapper from the scene, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rap-artist-killer-mike-arrested-at-grammy-awards-after-winning-3-categories">reported</a>.
Per <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2024/02/04/killer-mike-alleged-physical-altercation-grammy-awards-detained/">TMZ</a>, the arrest had to do with Render allegedly becoming physically aggressive with a security officer. He stands accused of knocking the guard down when that individual did not move out of Render’s way quickly enough.
Two days later, the rap artist released a statement saying his arrest had been a result of an “over-zealous” security guard, the <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/local-news/killer-mike-reacts-grammys-arrest-over-zealous-security-1235817097/">outlet</a> noted.
“As you can imagine, there was a lot going and there was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter,” the statement read. “We experienced an over-zealous security guard, but my team and I have the upmost [sic] confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing,” 
When he later went on “<a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/killer-mike-grammys-arrest-what-happened-1235822848/">The View</a>,&#8221; he talked to co-host Sunny Hostin about the arrest and incident.
“Backstage was overcrowded, the winners were exuberant, and I think security got a little overzealous. It’s water under the bridge for me,” Mike said. “All of my heroes have been in handcuffs — [Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Medgar Evers].”
“I walked out with the same dignity and respect that I walked in with, and I would implore people to just take that from it,” he added. “Don’t dwell on the bad stuff.”
The night of the Grammy Awards, Render won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for his track “Scientists &amp; Engineers,” which features fellow recording artists Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane. He also won Best Rap Album for “Michael.” 
His last win was for “The Whole World,” a collaboration with Outkast, in 2003.

Montana Tucker, the TikTok star who famously wore a dress at the Grammys emblazoned with a message to save the Israeli hostages held by Hamas, spoke with Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro on “The Ben Shapiro Show,” telling him that celebrities who were afraid to publicly take her stand had thanked her for doing so.
Shapiro began by asking Tucker how the Grammys were for her.
“You know, I&#8217;m a little disappointed you weren&#8217;t there, given you were number one on the charts,” Tucker quipped, referring to Shapiro and Tom MacDonald&#8217;s rap song ‘Facts.’ I feel like you should have been at the Grammys, don&#8217;t you think?”
“I did ask Nicki Minaj to hook a homie up, but that actually did not happen, unfortunately,” Shapiro joked, then asked, “You wore this kind of shockingly political dress at the Grammys. What was the reaction when you did that?”

“It&#8217;s so interesting that you say political as well, because I don&#8217;t find it to be political,” Tucker replied. “I think that that is something that people are saying and that is something that needs to be taken away from it because it isn&#8217;t political to bring the hostages home. I think that&#8217;s something people are forgetting. There are people there, not just Israelis, former hostages, there are Americans. There are different races. There are different religions of innocent people that are still over there. And when I got the invite to go to the Grammys to walk the carpet, it was obviously a huge deal for me as an artist to have that opportunity. I knew I had to do something. I knew that no one else was going to do it.”
“I was super nervous about wearing the dress,” she confessed. “To be honest, I didn&#8217;t know what the reaction was going to be, but I knew I had to do it. I knew there was no other option. I couldn&#8217;t just go and wear a glamorous dress. I had to go and stand for what I believe in. If I have the opportunity to have the platform of people seeing this, I had to take it.”
Tucker spoke of the initial resistance she received from Grammy officials:  “At first when I first walked the carpet, somebody from the Recording Academy, I don&#8217;t know who they were, came up to me and said Comms had an issue with my dress and they said it was too political and they said they don&#8217;t do politics at the Grammys and that my dress was too political.”
“I said I don&#8217;t think this is political at all, actually. Do you know what this ribbon stands for?” she recalled, adding that Harvey Mason Jr. “came up to me, saw me on the carpet and came up to me and said, ‘Thank you for wearing that. I love your dress. Let&#8217;s take a picture.’”
“It is somewhat hilarious to me that the Grammys would suggest that people don&#8217;t do politics at the Grammys, which is like, have you seen the Grammys ever?” Shapiro pointed out. “Like, ever. And then Annie Lennox calls for the cease-fire in the middle of the In Memoriam section &#8230; she was supposed to be there paying tribute to the people who died this year. And then she randomly starts doing Hamas propaganda on the stage calling for a cease-fire. Absolutely astonishing.”
“So how has the feedback been since the Grammys? Have you gotten blowback for having worn the dress?” Shapiro asked.
“You know what? While I was there, I was having so much anxiety, I couldn&#8217;t believe that I did this. This is something that I&#8217;ve never done, a big move like this. And I sat in my seat and all of a sudden my phone started blowing up and I didn&#8217;t even post a picture,&#8221; Tucker said. “My phone just started blowing up like crazy because it was getting posted everywhere from the Getty Images photos. The amount of support I have received has just been overwhelming and so incredible. I&#8217;m shocked at the lack of negative response that I got from it. People reaching out like crazy, people sharing it like crazy.”
“I think a lot of people want to do something like this and they&#8217;re just scared. I think that a lot of people that I&#8217;ve talked to, I think they want to &#8211; they don&#8217;t know how to do it,” she stated. “I&#8217;ve had people come up to me that are on such a different level than me in their careers, and they&#8217;re like, ‘Thank you so much for taking one for the team. Thank you for everything you&#8217;re doing,’ because they don&#8217;t want to post. They&#8217;re too scared. They don&#8217;t want to lose business, don’t want to lose their jobs, their career. They&#8217;re nervous to just share what they truly believe in because they don&#8217;t want the blowback.”
“So I think if we&#8217;re not standing for something, what are we doing? If we work this hard and we are fortunate enough to have platforms and we don&#8217;t use them for what we believe in, what&#8217;s the point? That&#8217;s how I feel,” she said. “That&#8217;s all it was for. It&#8217;s to remind people. &#8230;More and more, the misinformation and everything that keeps coming out every single day, people are forgetting what the real reason is here and why people like myself are fighting so hard. And these are innocent people with innocent family members. And they need to be home.”
