President Donald Trump left for Israel on Sunday to celebrate the deal he&#8217;d brokered just days earlier between Israel and Hamas, the terrorist group responsible for the brutal massacre on October 7, 2023. In the days since the agreement was reached, the litmus test has been a simple one: who is willing to give Trump credit for the work he&#8217;s done — and who isn&#8217;t?
For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
While there were some on both sides of the political aisle who were willing to acknowledge Trump&#8217;s role in securing a deal to bring the hostages home and ultimately end the war entirely, others tried to qualify his success — or even omit him from the conversation.
Vice President JD Vance, of course, was firmly in Trump&#8217;s corner as he made the rounds on the Sunday morning shows. On ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; he spoke with anchor George Stephanopoulos about phase one of the deal and the return of the last remaining hostages held in Gaza.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty also spoke to Brennan and expressed confidence in Trump&#8217;s deal. &#8220;We are very hopeful that the first phase will be completed in all honesty,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We are in full contact with the Palestinians, with Hamas, because it’s all about, of course, releasing the hostages and for Israel, releasing some of the Palestinian detainees.&#8221;

Senator Chris Murphy, however, couldn&#8217;t bring himself to directly credit Trump with the win — even when asked point blank by Brennan whether the deal marked something upon which he could agree with the president.
&#8220;I congratulate the negotiators on getting this done. There&#8217;s no politics about this moment,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But you watch those devastating images of what Gaza looks like today, and it&#8217;s both heartbreaking and infuriating that this deal has been on the table for over a year. So again, this will be a good week, but as you have reported, there are big issues to come. Israel is not fully pulling out of Gaza. There is no clear path forward on what the security and governance force is going to look like inside that country.&#8221;

CNN anchor Dana Bash also asked her guests whether Trump deserved some credit for securing the deal. Senator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/he-worked-this-out-senate-dem-admits-trump-deserves-a-lot-of-credit-for-gaza-deal">Mark Kelly</a> (D-AZ) told her that Trump &#8220;should get a lot of credit&#8221; for making it happen.
&#8220;I think he should get a lot of credit. I mean, this was his deal,” Kelly replied. “He worked this out. He sent [Middle East Envoy] Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner over to negotiate this. And so far, it’s gone well. Hopefully, the hostages get released here — might not be within 24 hours — but certainly, I think, by Monday. And that’s progress. Bash recalled Kelly&#8217;s interview and asked Sullivan whether he agreed that Trump should be lauded for getting the deal across the finish line. &#8220;Of course he does,&#8221; Sullivan said.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said during an interview over the weekend that there were no &#8220;lists&#8221; of people that President Donald Trump is looking to fire but anyone who does not follow orders will be shown the door.
Hegseth made the remarks during an interview on &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; when asked about the supposed list.
&#8220;There&#8217;s no list, Shannon. I&#8217;ve heard that. I&#8217;ve seen that very rumor,&#8221; Hegseth said. &#8220;Although, we have a very keen eye toward military leadership and their willingness to follow lawful orders.&#8221;
&#8220;This is all about defending the Constitution,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Joe Biden gave lawful orders. A lot of them are really bad. And it&#8217;s unfortunate how they eroded our military. Ideological COVID mandates.&#8221;
&#8220;President Trump has given another set of lawful orders. And they will be followed,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;If they&#8217;re not followed, and all these orders are in keeping with the Constitution and norms inside the military. If they&#8217;re not followed, then those officers will find the door.&#8221;
&#8220;And that&#8217;s not a tough calculation,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;We feel really good about the direction the Pentagon is headed under President Trump. We&#8217;re going to focus on warfighting and lethality and accountability. And be the most transparent Pentagon that folks have seen in a long time, which is why I explain these things on a regular basis.&#8221;

On Sunday, as multiple wildfires still rage out of control in California, what to do about them and how to prevent such a tragedy from happening in the future was top of mind on many of the political talk shows. As one might expect, media personalities were quick to jump to the aid of Democrats — who are often only too happy to politicize natural disasters when they occurred in red states — were desperate to put a stop to the criticism being leveled at California&#8217;s leadership (or lack thereof) with regard to the fires.
Deanne Criswell, head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), joined host Jonathan Karl on ABC News&#8217; &#8220;This Week&#8221; to discuss the &#8220;dangerous situation&#8221; still unfolding in Southern California.
&#8220;The red flag warnings have been reissued, the winds are coming back, and we still want to make sure that people are in a safe place,&#8221; Criswell said. The winds had abated enough to allow for air support to fly in water and fire retardant over the last day, but they are expected to pick up again and the situation is still extremely volatile.

The new California senator, elected to fill the seat that was initially vacated when the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) passed away, also called on President-elect Trump to join with California in an effort to prevent future disasters.

Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) echoed Schiff&#8217;s sentiments in calling for bipartisan efforts in helping California to rebuild.
&#8220;These wildfires don&#8217;t have any political affiliation,&#8221; she told Brennan. &#8220;They don&#8217;t belong to any political party. This devastation has affected thousands upon thousands of people who just ran out of their homes with nothing in their hands, and are trying to rebuild, and they need help.&#8221;

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) said over the weekend that he does not believe that anyone cares about the numerous lies that he has been caught telling.
Walz made the remarks during a &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; interview with host Shannon Bream when confronted over numerous lies he&#8217;s told that have been exposed since he became Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; vice presidential running mate.
Walz has claimed that his lies were nothing more than him making &#8220;misstatements.”
&#8220;You&#8217;ve modified your story or explained that you misspoke about things involving your military rank, about carrying a weapon in war, your 1995 DUI arrest, using IVF to have your beautiful children, being in Hong Kong and China in the summer of 1989 during the Tiananmen events,&#8221; Bream said.
&#8220;A lot of people would say they couldn&#8217;t get away with saying, &#8216;I&#8217;m just too passionate. My grammar is not right. I&#8217;m a knucklehead,'&#8221; Bream continued. &#8220;What do you say to the American people who think I don&#8217;t know that I can trust this guy with all those modifications to be the potential commander in chief of this country?&#8221;
Walz responded by saying that he believes that people &#8220;heard&#8221; him &#8220;speaking passionately&#8221; about issues where he made false claims.
&#8220;I don&#8217;t think people care whether I used IUI or IVF,&#8221; he continued, before lying again when he falsely claimed that former President Donald Trump opposed IVF and other similar treatments.
He claimed that he was very proud of his record and that he has &#8220;never disparaged&#8221; someone else, even though he has repeatedly lied about Trump on the campaign trail.
He claimed that he would &#8220;own up when I misspeak.&#8221;
Bream responded: &#8220;And if we&#8217;re going to deal in truth, both the president, the former president, and his nominee, have said that they are very supportive of IVF.&#8221;

Tim Walz: ‘I Don’t Think People Care Whether’ I’ve Lied Repeatedly

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) defended over the weekend his decision to give illegal aliens a wide range of free services in the state that act as a magnet for encouraging illegal immigration.
Walz made the remarks during a &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; interview with Shannon Bream when confronted about some of the extreme policies that he has pursued at the expense of taxpayers.
Bream said that it was important to talk about his record since it &#8220;elucidates for people how [he] may serve&#8221; since he would only be a heartbeat away from serving as president if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the election this fall.
&#8220;[You] signed into law initiatives allowing immigrants in the country illegally to apply for driver&#8217;s licenses, qualify for free tuition at state universities, and enroll in the state&#8217;s free health care program for low income residents,&#8221; Bream said.
When asked if taxpayers should have to pay for these unpopular programs, Walz claimed without evidence that Harris does not support the initiatives — even though she indicated support for them just a few years ago.
Walz then defended the radical programs, saying that his state ranks as top business state where people have health care access.
He also claimed that his state had some of the safest roads in the country.
Walz then claimed that Harris was the strongest candidate when it comes to securing the southern border, an issue that she was put in charge of and failed miserably to achieve as well over 10 million illegal aliens came into the U.S.

The ABC presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is looming, so naturally the media&#8217;s focus is on what could happen when the two finally face off for all the marbles.
On ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; both Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) and former Governor Chris Christie (R-N.J.) were asked to weigh in on how Trump was likely to prepare for a debate against Harris.
Sanders began with a jab at Harris&#8217; persistent avoidance of the press since she vaulted to the top of the Democratic Party&#8217;s 2024 ticket, pointing out the fact that the American people knew Trump much better than they knew Harris because she has yet to answer any real policy questions.
&#8220;It’s so rare that we hear from her, that we hear her take questions or that we know anything that she actually stands for,&#8221; she said, arguing that the debate was more of a &#8220;must-win&#8221; for Harris than it was for Trump.

Sanders, who previously served as Trump&#8217;s White House Press Secretary, went on to say that he was preparing for a hostile debate environment every day by taking questions from an adversarial press and doing interviews while Harris hid behind campaign aides who quietly &#8220;leaked&#8221; her flip-flops to friendly media outlets.
&#8220;He&#8217;ll go in game time ready just as he does for every interview, every rally that he does. This is not something that is a heavy lift for him,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Every day is debate prep for Donald Trump.&#8221;

Christie also weighed in on the debate during a panel discussion moderated by host Jonathan Karl, and he argued that Trump was not likely to prioritize debate prep ahead of Tuesday&#8217;s event. &#8220;He’s just going to go in there and wing it,&#8221; he claimed.

Karl also brought in Martha Raddatz, who moderated a debate between Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, to talk about her impressions – and she suggested that Trump&#8217;s tendency to debate the moderators as well as his opponents could prove a &#8220;challenge.&#8221;

Voters in the swing state of Pennsylvania, according to Philadelphia-based NBC News reporter Lauren Mayk, are hoping to hear some &#8220;specifics&#8221; from both candidates on Tuesday. Mayk joined a panel discussion on &#8220;Meet the Press,&#8221; where she told host Kristen Welker that at least one voter had put it to her this way: &#8220;I think I know their ideas. I want to know their policies.&#8221;
Welker also pointed out the fact that despite Harris being a sitting senator throughout Trump&#8217;s entire first term as president, Tuesday&#8217;s debate will be there first time the two meet in person.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said over the weekend that he will be campaigning for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the days and weeks to come and that he expects that more Democrats will soon be joining Trump&#8217;s campaign.
RFK Jr. made the remarks during a Sunday interview on &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; with host Shannon Bream after he announced last week that he was suspending his campaign and endorsing Trump for president.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to be campaigning actively,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think President Trump is going to make a series of announcements about other Democrats who are joining his campaign, and you know, I want to make America healthy again, and so does President Trump. So those are objectives.&#8221;
He fired back at criticism that he received from The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board over the weekend, after Trump signaled he would work with RFK Jr. if he regains the White House this fall.
&#8220;The Wall Street Journal may be worried about shareholder value for pharmaceutical companies,&#8221; RFK Jr. said. &#8220;And I think, you know, I talked specifically to President Trump about that issue, and he said that he wanted to leave, as his legacy, healthy children, and that, you know, that he was unconcerned about the other implications.&#8221;

This week&#8217;s spin was a concerted effort to protect Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) now that he has joined Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; presidential campaign. Harris was bumped to the top of the Democratic Party&#8217;s 2024 ticket — despite not ever winning a single primary vote of her own accord — after President Joe Biden abruptly dropped out of the race, and she chose Walz to be her running mate.
But Walz came with his own baggage — most of which related to his 24-year Army National Guard career and how he&#8217;s chosen to characterize his service — and the usual suspects made it absolutely clear on Sunday that they were willing to carry that along with his water.
Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) spoke with &#8220;This Week&#8221; host Jonathan Karl about the dramatic shift in her party, first from Biden-Harris to just Harris and then to Harris-Walz, in recent weeks.
&#8220;I love Joe Biden, but we are moving forward as a party and as a nation. And Tim Walz and Kamala Harris are bringing America with them like we&#8217;ve never seen before,&#8221; Klobuchar said.
She made no mention of the fact that the last time Walz and Harris had <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harris-selects-mostly-peaceful-tim-walz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">worked together</a>, he had allowed rioters to burn down half of Minneapolis and she had helped raise money to bail out the ones who were arrested.

Klobuchar also weighed in on the reports surrounding Walz&#8217;s time in the National Guard — specifically numerous reports that he retired, even forfeiting a planned promotion, only after learning that his unit was set to deploy to Iraq.
&#8220;I think he made the decision that he was going to run for Congress,&#8221; Klobuchar said, despite the fact that Walz&#8217;s congressional campaign had published a <a href="https://x.com/CryptidPolitics/status/1821344078564389273" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a> prior to his retirement stating that he intended to fulfill his duty to the military and deploy with them if called upon to do so.

Just one week has passed since the Democratic Party ousted President Joe Biden from the 2024 ticket and essentially coronated Vice President Kamala Harris to be his successor — and while questions are still mounting about Biden&#8217;s true condition and why he ultimately agreed to step away from the campaign, there are bigger questions surrounding Harris and her qualifications and whether her own party believes she has the ability to win against former President Donald Trump.
While all of those questions are valid — and pressing, as the Democratic Party&#8217;s Chicago convention is fast-approaching — one other burning question has bubbled to the top: if Harris is at the top of the 2024 ticket, who will get second billing? In an effort to field some of those questions — and perhaps posit himself as the answer to the last one — Transportation Secretary and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg sat down with &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; anchor Shannon Bream for a truly dizzying twelve-minute interview.

Bream began the interview with a question about Harris&#8217; rapid ascension to de facto nominee, noting that some people had voiced concern with the lack of democracy taking place in the Democratic Party of late.
&#8220;A week ago, we were doing this show and President Biden was still in the race, we now have a presumptive new nominee,&#8221; Bream noted before quoting a piece from Bret Stephens at The New York Times:
<blockquote>The one thing the Democratic Party is not supposed to be is anti-democratic — a party in which insiders select the nominee from the top down, not the bottom up, and which expects the rank and file to fall in line and clap enthusiastically. That&#8217;s the playbook of ruling parties in autocratic states.</blockquote>
&#8220;You know the optics of this,&#8221; Bream went on to prompt Buttigieg to explain how he addressed voters&#8217; concerns that the party wasn&#8217;t listening to the people.
Buttigieg sidestepped the question entirely, instead delivering a short speech on how &#8220;remarkable&#8221; it was that &#8220;in a matter of days&#8221; — and after being told by the party that they would be offered no other choice — Democrats had rallied around Harris. He then claimed that despite the obviously top-down nature of her anointment, there was &#8220;extraordinary energy&#8221; brewing &#8220;from the ground up&#8221; around Harris&#8217; week-old campaign.
&#8220;You actually have gotten more delegates, though, than she has,&#8221; Bream pointed out, referencing Buttigieg&#8217;s failed 2020 presidential bid and noting that Harris, who also ran, never won a single delegate on her own merits and even dropped out of the race before the end of December 2019. Bream also quoted a former Harris staffer who worried about the vice president&#8217;s &#8220;coronation&#8221; and said that she had not been &#8220;tested and tried&#8221; as a candidate on her own.
The Transportation Secretary vaulted over that question as well, claiming that her experience as the vice president was all the testing that was necessary. &#8220;She is in one of the most visible leadership roles in the country,&#8221; he said, leaving out recent Democrat and media efforts to put some serious distance between Harris and the disastrous outcome of her highly &#8220;visible leadership role&#8221; as Biden&#8217;s hand-selected <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/axios-clarified-2021-report-in-desperate-attempt-to-distance-vp-harris-from-border-czar-gig" target="_blank" rel="noopener">border czar</a>.
Buttigieg went on to claim that &#8220;most Americans already agree with&#8221; Harris — despite her <a href="https://x.com/ByronDonalds/status/1816813998458761216" target="_blank" rel="noopener">well-documented history</a> as the &#8220;most liberal Senator&#8221; and a voting record that skewed left of even Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders.
Buttigieg then attempted to steer the interview away from Harris so that he could attack former President Trump, but Bream brought it back around to Harris and whether or not she should be held responsible either for her failure to see that Biden was flailing or for her apparent willingness to help hide it from the American people.
Once again, Buttigieg ignored the question and said, &#8220;Joe Biden is good at being President.&#8221; The results, he argued, spoke for themselves — although it&#8217;s likely that the poll numbers saying that the American people largely disapproved of his job performance and that they&#8217;d rather he be replaced on the ticket were not the &#8220;results&#8221; he meant.
Instead, Buttigieg relied on debunked claims that Biden had created more jobs than Trump or any other president when most of those jobs had not been new jobs but rather had been people returning to work in the aftermath of the COVID pandemic. He wrapped up his point by claiming that Biden had made the &#8220;selfless&#8221; choice to take himself out of the 2024 race as if high-dollar donors and powerful party bosses hadn&#8217;t strong-armed that decision out of him.
He then chalked up Biden&#8217;s obvious and rapid decline to the fact that he was a little bit older before pivoting to suggest that Trump — who just two weeks earlier stood up and raised his fist, after taking a bullet, to tell the crowd he was all right — was in no better shape than Biden.
And that was just the first five minutes.

For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
In the days since President Joe Biden squared off with former President Donald Trump on CNN&#8217;s debate stage, Biden surrogates in the media and on Capitol Hill — and even the president and his own team at the White House — have been working overtime to convince the general public that Biden is fine, his reelection campaign is fine, and everything is fine.
Still, some cracks have begun to show in the facade as several Democrats have suggested that it may be time for Biden to step aside. And as Biden&#8217;s most recent interview — with Democrat operative-turned ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos — did little to reassure faith in the president&#8217;s cognitive abilities, Sunday&#8217;s political shows showcased his party embracing the five stages of grief.
<h4>DENIAL</h4>
President Joe Biden, despite an objectively terrible debate performance and a series of less-than-stellar moments since, has his feet firmly planted in denial. Refusing repeatedly to admit that anything is wrong, he continues to mumble and flail his way through public appearances — giving answers that more often than not require the complete attention of a White House clean-up crew.
Biden responded to criticisms by brushing them aside, claiming that he was in top shape and he had no intention of allowing one bad debate to be the end of his presidency: &#8220;I&#8217;m not letting one 90-minute debate wipe out three and a half years of work. I&#8217;m staying in the race, and I will beat Donald Trump.&#8221;

But as The Daily Wire editor emeritus Ben Shapiro pointed out, Biden is never more decidedly unclear than when he&#8217;s speaking: &#8220;Actually, you tweeted it as clearly as you can. If you had said it as clearly as you can, it would have come out like this: &#8216;Ammrggghhacmonman.'&#8221;

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) joined anchor Kristen Welker on NBC News&#8217; &#8220;Meet the Press&#8221; to discuss the situation, and he aired his frustrations over how poorly Biden had been performing in recent polls.
&#8220;It should not be even close,&#8221; Schiff complained, arguing that in a world apparently concocted in a fever dream, Biden &#8220;should be mopping the floor with Donald Trump&#8221; because &#8220;Joe Biden&#8217;s running against a criminal &#8230; The only one reason it is close. And that&#8217;s the president&#8217;s age.&#8221;

Schiff did concede that the debate — and the following interview with Stephanopoulos — had not done enough to assuage public fears that Biden was not up to the job.

No Democratic lawmakers or allies of Joe Biden wanted to defend the president’s decision to stay in the presidential race, according to Fox News host Shannon Bream.
Bream announced during her show Fox News Sunday that her team spent “days” reaching out to Democrats who were all “unable or unwilling” to defend Biden’s decision. The Fox host said dozens of lawmakers and Biden campaign allies turned down the opportunity to appear on her show.
“Now, before we get to our guests, I want you, the viewers at home, to know something. Our team has spent days reaching out to dozens of lawmakers and Biden advocates and allies,” Bream said. “We’ve had numerous interactions with the Biden/Harris campaign, but not a single potential guest was either able or willing to join us on today’s show to defend the president and his decision to stay on the ticket.”
“We will be having a conversation without that voice, which we have been working around the clock to avoid,” she added.

Biden has suffered a widespread exodus of support among elected officials, donors, and others in his own party after a June 27 presidential debate with former president Donald Trump. During the debate, Biden appeared feeble and, at times, confused and incomprehensible in a performance that has raised questions over the president’s mental acuity and the effects of age on the 81-year-old president.
A growing number of Democratic lawmakers have called on Biden to exit the presidential race to make room for a new nominee, likely Vice President Kamala Harris. Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas was the first to publicly call for Biden to step aside last week.
&#8220;Recognizing that, unlike Trump, President Biden&#8217;s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw,&#8221; Doggett said in a statement.
Reps. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona, Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, Mike Quigley of Illinois, and Angie Craig of Minnesota have since joined Doggett against Biden’s reelection bid, according to <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/07/06/list-house-democrats-biden-withdraw-2024-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axios</a>.
The backlash to Biden’s debate performance has been fueled by the president’s struggling poll numbers against Trump in battleground states for the 2024 election. Trump is leading Biden in all seven battlegrounds from 0.6 points in Michigan to 5.8 points in North Carolina, according to <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/elections/president/2024/battleground-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Real Clear Politics</a> polling averages.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) said over the weekend that if Republicans control the entire federal government in 2024 that there will be major changes coming to border security and the number of illegal aliens in the U.S.
Donalds made the remarks during a Sunday interview on &#8220;Fox News Sunday&#8221; with Shannon Bream when asked about what promises he could make to the American people about what will change if Republicans run the tables in November.
&#8220;A couple of things,&#8221; Donalds responded. &#8220;Trump had the border secured when he was President of the United States. When Joe Biden came in, the first thing he did was rip up the border policy simply because they were put in place by Donald Trump. It was a very stupid decision by Joe Biden. The country has suffered as a result.&#8221;
&#8220;So now what we are going to do is go back to ending &#8216;catch-and-release&#8217; and go back to &#8216;Remain in Mexico.&#8217; We will have to deport millions of people who should not be here because our cities and states simply cannot handle the flow of all these illegal migrants,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;You have Jordanian people going in trying to breach Quantico under Joe Biden. You saw what happened on the southern border in California, where they were trying to scale the wall in California and get over that wall there.&#8221;
&#8220;What President Trump is going to do is put back the policies that kept our country secure, and we will deport millions of people,&#8221; he concluded. &#8220;It needs to be done. Then in Congress, with a policy like H.R. 2, if you have the votes in the House and the Senate, we are going to move large parts of this to become federal law, which gives the president more authority to secure the nation.&#8221;
