Last month, the Taliban put into effect new laws stripping the women of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/afghanistan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Afghanistan</a> of the last of their basic human rights. While here in America, feminists like to define their basic human rights as access to abortion, Afghan women are no longer allowed to speak in public, show any skin or leave their home without a male chaperone.
As of late August, the Taliban received approval from supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada to put into place its “<a href="https://apnews.com/article/afghanistan-taliban-vice-virtue-laws-women-b6db61e124116c712c867d2e1a4532ba" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vice and Virtue decree</a>,” which prohibits Islamic people from many religious and daily practices. Females were, unsurprisingly, hit the hardest by these new laws. Afghan women have been deemed as temptations, and therefore cannot show any skin or use their voices in public for any reason. They also may not make eye contact with men to whom they are not married, or blood related, out of fear of punishment and torture.
These new practices and ones already in place, including the end of education for women at 12 years of age and the inability to see male doctors, have not only left women with no rights, but truly no chance at a healthy and contented life. If these women are not allowed to be educated enough to be health care providers, and also can’t see male doctors, what will happen to them if and when they need health care? They will clearly become sick and suffer — which is, ultimately, the Taliban’s goal.
Women have been banned from most public spaces including parks, gyms and many stores. This has left women-led households particularly vulnerable. Since women are no longer let out of the home without a male, they are unable to walk, exercise or even shop for basic necessities like food.
Why is no one talking about this? Coming up on a month after the new bans took effect, the Biden Administration has barely mentioned this situation, let alone done anything to combat it. Where are the thousands of women who marched and protested after the overturn of Roe v. Wade and chanted “my body my choice?” Why don’t these people seem to care about the Afghan women having no rights over their bodies — including what they can wear, who they can speak to, or if they can speak at all? Or what about the girls as young as 5-years-old being sold into marriages under the Taliban — what about their choice?
The answer ultimately comes down to the sad fact that it was the Biden-Harris Administration <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/terror-threats-from-afghanistan-have-flourished-under-biden-harris-admin-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">who helped fuel</a> the Taliban to be able to perpetrate these acts in the first place. It is American taxpayer dollars that have been sent to make all of this happen. In August, the Taliban received <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/us-aid-vetting-failures-may-have-benefited-militants-afghanistan-watchdog-finds-2024-07-17/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nearly $240 million</a> in U.S. aid. The funds, ironically, even came from a State Department division called “Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.” How does funding a brutal group that uses physical abuse as punishment for speaking in public qualify as maintaining human rights?
In Afghanistan, women&#8217;s lives are truly not their own. This is not just a matter of abortion or contraception as we hear in America. Women are being sentenced to death for “moral crimes” such as adultery or refusal of arranged marriages. Women who commit these crimes are being put to death, even by stoning. Afghan women are also eligible for forced “virginity testing” which are often inaccurate tests performed on young women to determine if they have abstained from sexual relations. If girls “fail” these tests, they can face torture, ridicule or death, even in cases of rape. If a woman has been raped and is married, she is an adulterer, which once again circles back to the “moral crimes” punishments.

It’s important to note that Afghanistan wasn’t always like this. Prior to the Afghan–Soviet War in 1979, women actually experienced a fair number of freedoms. They were able to work, express themselves through choice of clothing. But after the war, and the initial takeover by the Taliban in 1996, these women and girls slowly started to lose themselves to the evil that had taken over their home.
American feminists might want to open their eyes to see beyond their tired and misguided rhetoric. Take a look at what actual denial of a woman’s control over her body looks like.
These women will continue to suffer under the Taliban as long as Biden and Harris remain in office. It is their policy blunders that have assisted in the progression of these inhumane acts. In the meantime, Islamic women have taken to social media and to singing in the streets to protest the laws leaving them deprived of actual human rights.
The next time American feminists try to tell you about your “oppression” as a female in America, remember you are still allowed to speak in public, receive an education, carry out a career, and have access to world-class health care — all unattainable dreams for Afghan women who don’t have the blessing and privilege to be a woman in America today.

Speaking from the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night, CNN anchor Dana Bash argued that the Democratic Party was appealing to men who were not “testosterone-laden,” contending that Democrats like Tim Walz and Doug Emhoff can speak to those kinds of men.
The subject was broached in a three-way conversation between Bash and fellow anchors Abby Phillip and Jake Tapper.
“The gender gap, in American politics, has been trending very strongly, for years,” Tapper contended. “But this year, at least according to polls, it is so strong. The women &#8212; the women vote is overwhelmingly for Harris. The male vote overwhelmingly for Trump, though not as much.”

That launched Bash into her analysis of the Democrats’ appeal to men who were not “testosterone-laden”:

But they are doing so in trying to put forward male figures, Tim Walz being one of them, Doug Emhoff, last night, who can speak to men, out there, who might not be the sort of testosterone-laden gun-toting kind of guy, who wants to listen to Hulk Hogan, and the kind of players that came out at the RNC, or might want to listen to that.
But also, in addition, understand that it&#8217;s OK, in 2024, to be a man, comfortable in his own skin, who supports a woman. And that&#8217;s something that they really are trying to work on, with male voters, beyond the base.

Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, is in the media’s target once again after his condemnation of the Paris Olympics’s opening ceremony. This year, the Olympics decided to celebrate drag queens by lining them across a long table with one woman in the center wearing a halo-like head dress. The scene presented a warped portrayal of <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/drag-performance-resembling-last-supper-olympics-opening-ceremony-rcna163927" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Da Vinci’s painting “Last Supper,”</a>  replacing Christ and His apostles with LGBTQ performers.
Butker <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chiefs-kicker-harrison-butker-reacts-to-olympics-opening-ceremony-god-is-not-mocked" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reacted</a> to the scene by quoting the Bible, <a href="https://x.com/buttkicker7/status/1816953986114822172" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posting on X</a>, “Be not deceived, God is not mocked&#8230;”
Butker first made headlines for his political views back in May when he addressed the graduates of Benedictine College, the tiny liberal arts school I call home. Then, people from around the world swarmed social media to defend the poor, oppressed young women like me who were subjected to Butker’s misogynistic presumptions.
How could he assume that “the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world?” What an out-of-touch statement to say to a group of modern women.
But he was right.
Most female students at Benedictine, me included, care more about our potential families than our job prospects. Of course, this doesn’t mean that none of us will work. It doesn’t even mean that we will all go on to get married. My friends work hard on their academics and would make great employees. They just care more about falling in love and having children. What’s so bad about that?
As I head back to school this month, I’ve been thinking more about Butker’s commencement speech, especially as he has come under fire once again for his criticism of the Paris Olympics.
What I think most people are missing about Butker is the part of his speech that received far less media attention: his words to the graduating men.
Butker criticized absent fathers, challenged my male classmates to “do hard things,” and spoke to his own vocation as a husband and a father—not an athlete. His speech didn’t pit men and women in a power struggle against one another, the way feminists so often do. Nor did it diminish our differences and meld us into one unseemly mass of humanity, as was on display at the Paris Olympics.
Instead, Butker encouraged my classmates and me to love one another. That may be seen as radical or extreme, and I suppose it is. But it is also exciting.
My friends and I aren’t afraid of the prospect of being wives and mothers, we’re thrilled. And our male counterparts are eager to serve us in turn and devote their full strength to their family.
All that to say, Benedictine’s young women don’t need strangers on X to save us from the patriarchy. Considering that the alternative is men at the Olympics donning over-sexualized feminine stereotypes like a costume, the patriarchy looks pretty swell.
This school year, my friends and I are looking forward to quietly defying the idea that “womanhood” no longer has anything to do with being wives or mothers. Our lives are not a performance of physical stereotypes exaggerated for sexual pleasure. They’re real and they’re wonderful.
This fall, my first college party will be a wedding between recent Benedictine alumni. It promises to be a much more beautiful ceremony than what our elites just decided to put on in Paris.

Over the last decade, there has been a gradual push for men to become softer. Society has attacked masculinity, deemed it toxic, and pressured men to fall in line with feminist standards. Along with this disruption to masculinity has come the disintegration of gender norms. Yet when you really look at the men who women are actually interested in, they are not feminine men. 
About a month ago, a little song started circulating around TikTok: “I’m looking for a man in finance, trust fund, six five, blue eyes.” We’ve all heard it at this point because it took off, getting millions of views.

DJs took to re-mixing the song, and TikTokers everywhere picked it up to make mash-ups and different renditions of the song. Girls began stitching and captioning descriptions of the man they were looking for, and as it turns out, a lot of them didn’t care so much about landing a finance bro and were more interested in a “blue collar, tatted” guy or a “blue-collared husband” with a “dad bod.”

Women used this song to share their thoughts on an ideal man, and I did not see one video — not one — in which the ideal man was described as anything other than some kind of strong, masculine provider. Whether he’s a finance bro or a blue collar man, women are not looking to take care of nor save their man; they are looking to be taken care of and, dare I say, rescued themselves.

Case in point: Women in New York City are regularly attending single mixers called “<a href="https://singleandthecity.com/event/rescue-me-parties/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rescue Me</a>,” where the only men who can attend are either blue collar workers or first responders. I came across a post about these mixers from the Gothamist, who was the first I saw cover them. The event company, Single and the City, has been hosting these since 2008, and they are the “most popular and longest-running mixers from the events company Single and the City.”

The Gothamist <a href="https://gothamist.com/arts-entertainment/a-night-at-rescue-me-where-women-hope-to-date-nyc-firemen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a>, “A night at ‘Rescue Me’ where women hope to date NYC firemen,” goes into detail on how these events got started. The event company’s founder, Amber Soletti, had such great experiences dating firemen that she wanted to encourage women to explore doing the same — so much so she created entire events based around this idea.
<blockquote>Soletti said Rescue Me parties were inspired by her own positive experiences dating firemen, who she thinks are sometimes snubbed by women in the local dating scene.
“There is a set of women that would refuse to go to this event because they think these guys are just too blue-collar for them,” she said. “They want, like, a finance type. But a lot of firemen make really good money. These guys have amazing benefits, they have pensions. I think a lot of women are actually missing out on this.”</blockquote>
And the women love it:
<blockquote>“I’ve always had a thing for men in uniform,” said Dee Carano, 34, a regular attendee, in a phone interview before the Friday event. “FDNY was a huge part of [my] growing up.”
Carano is from Middle Village, Queens, which she describes as a “blue-collar” neighborhood full of cops and firefighters, including many of her family members. She attended her first Rescue Me party about a decade ago and has met a few of her past boyfriends at the parties.
Carano said she returns to Rescue Me when she’s single, and particularly enjoys “being able to date someone that has such pride for their city.”</blockquote>
Obviously, the men love it too, though not any and every man can come to these events. Soletti recruits specific men and has a specific guest list system in which she invites via email and text. According to the Gothamist, she also “sends faxes to all the firehouses in the city.” One firefighter explained that it has helped take the guessing game out of dating and also create a forthright foundation from the beginning:
<blockquote>“I&#8217;m outgoing as it is, but on any given night, if you&#8217;re going out to, say, a bar with your friends, it&#8217;s hit or miss if anyone in the room is gonna want to talk to you,” he said. He also noted that it’s nice to meet women who are open to the demands of his job, with its intense hours and 24/7 on-call mentality.</blockquote>
From the men’s perspective, a “Rescue Me” event is a much better experience than a night at a crowded bar where you might approach a woman and hope she doesn’t take you for a creep and gamble on whether or not she is interested. It’s also better than spending hours upon hours swiping on dating apps where people randomly quit responding, have no intention of actually meeting, or never respond at all. As dating apps die off, events like these will likely become more popular.
Society needs these kinds of events now more than ever. Imagine being single, going to an event, and knowing everyone there is also single and also intentionally seeking a relationship. That alleviates a lot of stress, anxiety, and confusion from the dating process so you can focus on being yourself and putting your best foot forward. Most importantly, these events speak to the type of men with whom women are hoping to pursue a relationship: blue collar providers, masculine first responders, and strong men in uniform. Women line up at the door to get in.
A few of the comments about these events were quite laughable because of how ironic they were. As they commented on how terrible and toxic these masculine men are, they showed how angry, insecure, and bitter they are. One named these events a “hellscape,” which is absurd considering the women attending these events are normal feminine women who are interested in normal masculine men.

Some had many, many words to say about these events but ended up just coming across as angry for the sake of being angry. A few seemed bothered because these men don’t want to date them, but — based on lines like “they also don’t usually have ANY issues finding dates” — perhaps they are just jealous.

It is incredibly elitist, egotistical, and down right wrong to put such blanket assumptions on the men who serve and protect every single day. It’s probably women like the ones who wrote these comments that cause these events to be so successful because these men are tired of being attacked by women they date. Obviously, they would enjoy a mixer where women are interested in them, respect them, and understand the importance of their job.
These roles are desperately needed and should be respected. Two months ago, women were getting punched in the face walking down the street. People are attacked in the subway at all hours. But if this is truly what they think, then they really shouldn’t ever call the cops for help. The utter disrespect is insane.
Furthermore, while they may think these are “dumpster fire” ideas, that does not change the fact that these are actually wildly successful events that lead to well-adjusted couples and happy marriages. These are fantastic events, and I hope to see more continue to pop up with more professions and interests.
“Rescue Me” events just prove the type of men women do actually want to be in relationships with. On the whole, we need to stop pretending women don’t like masculine men, and women need to stop trying to convince themselves otherwise.

Daily Wire host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/author/brett-cooper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Brett Cooper</a> opened up about marriage, motherhood, and the “quiet revolution of young women” against feminism in 2024.
Speaking to Chris Williamson on his “Modern Wisdom” <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v39se0OQyIs">podcast</a>, the 22-year-old host of “The Comments Section” opened up about her decision to get married in March despite being told by people on the Right that it wasn&#8217;t a wise choice. 
“It&#8217;s been wonderful,” Cooper said. “I have always known I wanted to be married. I&#8217;ve always known that I wanted to be a mother. I had a career in Hollywood, I was a child actor for 10 plus years.”
“And I remember I had a conversation with my best friend of the time, we were walking through Burbank. And I brought up a concern that I had had basically since I started in this industry and started working with adults…I got to see how they were operating, how they balanced their career and family and marriage, and I did not like what I saw,” Cooper continued.

“So, yes it is pretty radical, but even in this industry of being in media, being more on the Right, I still heard it. Still heard it from conservatives, like ‘you&#8217;re on the up and up, are you sure you want to do that?’ from people that are pro-family and pro-marriage,” the DW host added. 
Later, Cooper talked about how Gen Z feels about motherhood and she pointed out a recent study that found “over half of women do believe that motherhood is just as or more important than a career…these are not conservatives. These are just normal women.”
“They don&#8217;t want to brand themselves as conservatives, they want to get married,” she added. “They believe that hookup culture is bad and they believe motherhood is important. And so I think deep down, because these are biological instincts, I do believe that women have those urges and want that…there are more women than people think that are waking up.”
The DW host explained, “There have been an influx of women just on my social media alone speaking out about cultural issues, social issues, political issues, talking about voting for [former President Donald] Trump.”
“These are not political accounts, these are random influencers just girls on their you know private personal social medias talking about the things that Biden is doing in regards to Title IX, the transgender issue,” Cooper said.
“That they have been completely woken up realizing, ‘oh I don&#8217;t actually want this anymore,’” she added. “Mix that in with the women that are in their 30s, they get made fun of constantly on X for crying in their car about the fact that they can&#8217;t meet a guy because they prioritize their career over dating.”
Williamson then asked Brett if she thought we were “seeing a kind of quiet revolution of young women beginning to see the importance of motherhood,” and she said yes.
Cooper agreed that the “push back against casual sex, against hookup culture” is somewhat tied in with a “conservative movement,” as Williamson mentioned.
“I think that there is a lot of overlap, but I don&#8217;t think that this is a lot of women suddenly being like, ‘you know I&#8217;m conservative’… that&#8217;s not what it is. It&#8217;s women being intelligent and having self awareness and looking at the world around them and going, ‘this doesn&#8217;t sit right,’” the DW host said. 
“I think that… in general, women are looking around going ‘oh my gosh, what we&#8217;ve been told and fed for the last 20-30 years, none of this makes sense. We need to take a step back and reevaluate and think we&#8217;re seeing this in real time,” she added.

Here&#8217;s a side of the Clinton administration you probably don&#8217;t remember. Just a few months into Bill Clinton&#8217;s second term, the federal government announced a major initiative to fund abstinence-only sex education.
As the L.A. Times <a href="https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1997-03-01-mn-33685-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> back in March of 1997, Clinton&#8217;s administration allocated hundreds of millions of dollars to programs teaching that sex before marriage is, &#8220;likely to have harmful psychological and physical effects.&#8221; The Clinton-funded programs also taught that abstinence from premarital sex is, “the expected standard” of human behavior. That’s worth repeating: The Clinton administration said that abstaining from sex before marriage is the &#8220;expected standard&#8221; of human behavior.
That may sound surprising now, for obvious reasons. This was not exactly an administration that led by example on this front, or any other front. But at the time, especially in that pre-Lewinsky period, it wasn&#8217;t a particularly shocking move. From Reagan&#8217;s administration onward, there had been significant bipartisan support in Washington for teaching young people to wait until marriage before having sex. Democrats and Republicans agreed on this point: Hookup culture spreads disease and ultimately makes people unhappy. It wasn&#8217;t especially controversial, really.
As recently as 2010, CNN was running segments about how abstinence-education was effective. Watch:

You won&#8217;t find many reports like that on CNN anymore. Do a quick search of their website, and you&#8217;ll learn that abstinence-only education is &#8220;not evidence-based.&#8221; The science shifted, apparently, as we&#8217;ve seen so often. 
Indeed, around the year that report aired — 2010 — federal funding for abstinence-only education began to wane under the Obama administration. Donald Trump brought it back to an extent. Then the Biden administration limited this funding again, though not as much as many Leftists were hoping.
Throughout all of this back-and-forth, pretty much the only group that&#8217;s remained consistent have been Christian conservatives. We&#8217;ve warned, for decades, that hookup culture will create many catastrophic problems in society. We promoted chastity and abstinence before marriage as the only workable alternative. That&#8217;s a position we took based on Scripture, based on thousands of years of human history, and based on plain old common sense. And for that, we were dismissed and mocked as out of touch and prudish and archaic and old fashioned, again and again, over the past several decades. 
What&#8217;s interesting about all of this mockery is that now — at long last — many of the same people who dismissed Christian conservatives are now coming around to basically agreeing with us. They&#8217;re conceding that abstinence until marriage makes sense, actually. The catch is that they&#8217;re doing it for all the wrong reasons.
New York Magazine&#8217;s &#8220;The Cut&#8221; just published an <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240622140615/https://www.thecut.com/article/women-celibate-dating-sex.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> outlining the new pro-abstinence trend that&#8217;s now so popular among young people. It&#8217;s <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240622140615/https://www.thecut.com/article/women-celibate-dating-sex.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">entitled</a>, &#8220;A Summer Without Sex: Celibacy is all the rage right now.&#8221; 
The Cut <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240622140615/https://www.thecut.com/article/women-celibate-dating-sex.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports:</a>
<blockquote>Today, celebrities including Khloé Kardashian, Lenny Kravitz, Julia Fox, Kate Hudson, and Tiffany Haddish have touted the benefits of celibacy. Melissa Febos &#8230; is coming out with another memoir next year called &#8216;The Dry Season,&#8217; about a year of conscious celibacy. Other women are celebrating their dry seasons too, even to the point of competitiveness.</blockquote>
The report <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20240622140615/https://www.thecut.com/article/women-celibate-dating-sex.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">continues</a>:
<blockquote>This Great Abstaining comes amid any number of moral panics about sex, mainly related to young people: They’re texting instead of hooking up, they’re getting off the apps, they’re forgoing marriage and children, they’re deemphasizing traditional romance and instead prioritizing platonic friendships like codependent but chaste Victorian pen pals.</blockquote>
Among the reasons for this “Great Abstaining,” according to the Cut, is that many women all over the world are drawing inspiration from the &#8220;radical-feminist South Korean 4B movement.&#8221;
Women who participate in this &#8220;4B movement&#8221; promise not to do four things: date men, have sex with men, give birth, or get married. Of course, attitudes like this are only making South Korea&#8217;s population crisis even worse. The country&#8217;s birth rate is well below replacement level, and dropping fast. That&#8217;s not going to improve if no one marries or has children. But the media is presenting this as some kind of feminist victory for South Korea, even though South Korea may not exist for very long if it keeps up. South Korea’s great achievement is embracing its own extinction, we’re told.

Take this article from Vogue, for example. They just came out with a similar piece praising women for their newfound love of celibacy. They <a href="https://www.vogue.com/article/why-are-we-all-talking-about-celibacy-lenny-kravitz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>:
<blockquote>Is sex-free living going to be a thing? Could it actually be liberating to take the sex out of every equation? Are we entering a second wave of sexual emancipation in which one can simply opt out altogether? Maybe this summer can be a mini-break from the near-constant awareness of our own sexuality, of how (or whether) we attract. A vacation from transmitting and receiving sexual triggers. Will more of us be looking back on 2024 as the summer I turned sexless? No more afternoon delights, no more holiday romances—a veritable Celibacy and the City.</blockquote>
It&#8217;s kind of amazing to see Vogue discover that, in fact, women can &#8220;opt out&#8221; of having random sex with strangers. This is a whole new level of &#8220;sexual emancipation,&#8221; they say. No one has ever raised this possibility before. You can actually just not give yourself away to any random dude who vaguely shows interest. This is breaking news, courtesy of Vogue magazine: Women have free will. Can you believe it?
Several other outlets have been reporting on the same trend for more than a year now, in an equally shocked tone. The Independent, for example, <a href="https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/love-sex/celibacy-dating-abstinence-b2260133.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> last year that, &#8220;Celibacy has become all the rage among young people.&#8221; According to the Independent:
<blockquote>In recent years, &#8216;self-love&#8217; has been parodied as much as embraced. But the shift towards celibacy seems to have come from it. &#8230; The benefits from a period of celibacy are endless because, ultimately, it’s about self-development. And that’s a practice that will always provide some sort of enlightenment – regardless of your relationship status.</blockquote>
Imagine that. &#8220;The benefits from a period of celibacy are endless.&#8221; Again, across virtually all of the corporate press this is presented as something that&#8217;s just being discovered now. 
The Guardian, to give another example, <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/may/21/celibacy-hetrosexual-women-boysober-4b-sex-positive-feminism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> that &#8220;Sex-positive feminism had its moment – and now it has been replaced by voluntary celibacy.&#8221; That&#8217;s quite a headline from The Guardian, considering it was just a decade ago that The Guardian was running articles with <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/sep/24/moral-case-for-sex-before-marriage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">titles</a> like, &#8220;The moral case for sex before marriage.&#8221;
Reversals like this are everywhere all of a sudden. In recent years, outlets like <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/12/style/modern-love-why-i-took-a-vow-of-celibacy.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The New York Times</a> and <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/life-style/sex-relationships/article/im-26-and-ive-tried-the-celibacy-trend-v2c9qtvx0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sunday Times</a> have published lengthy first-hand op-eds written by authors who have committed to celibacy. In particular, the Sunday Times declared that &#8220;Celibacy has had a reboot, with more people abstaining from sex than ever.&#8221; And it’s important to note, if it wasn’t clear already, that in virtually all of these cases we’re talking about unmarried people abstaining from sex — abstaining from hookup culture, in other words. This is the “reboot,” the “trend,” the bright new idea that the media is suddenly celebrating.
And the trend is not just a media creation. Researchers at the University of Michigan have been tracking the sexual behavior of high school graduates for the past two decades, going back to 2004. They&#8217;ve <a href="https://news.umich.edu/american-young-adults-report-having-fewer-sexual-partners-higher-rates-of-abstention/#:~:text=Among%2021%2Dto%2D30%2D,of%20just%20over%20a%20quarter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found:</a>
<blockquote>Among 21-to-30-year-old males, abstinence rose significantly between 2008 and 2020, from 14.4% to 23.5% — an increase of nearly two-thirds. Among females of the same age, abstinence also rose, though by less, rising from 12.8% in 2008 to 16.5% in 2020 — an increase of just over a quarter. &#8230; Young adult males now have a considerably higher rate of abstinence than young adult females.</blockquote>
There are obviously many factors that might explain this change. A lot of it is likely attributable to so-called involuntary celibacy. We know that, even as celibacy is becoming more common, chastity is becoming less common. The proliferation of internet porn makes that very clear.
So what’s happening here in many cases, it seems reasonable to conclude, is that many young single people have given up on finding love and commitment. They&#8217;ve despaired of ever forming a real romantic connection with anyone. So now they&#8217;re retreating into celibacy like a form of surrender.
The point is that it’s not an embrace of traditional values in most cases. They’ve ended up at the same place — abstinence — but have gotten there from a place of despair and defeat. 
In other cases, as in South Korea, people are apparently resorting to celibacy as some kind of strained, misguided political statement. Here&#8217;s someone by the name of Julia Fox, for instance:

As twisted as that logic is, it actually makes sense on some level. These people understand that abstinence until marriage is an expression of self-control. And they understand that there&#8217;s a lot of benefits to a society where people practice self-control. But because they&#8217;ve rejected the old code of sexual morality, they have to come up with these bizarre, incoherent rationalizations for returning to it. They have to pretend that &#8220;Roe v. Wade&#8221; is somehow relevant to whether they want to be sexually promiscuous or not. Or they have to pretend that celibacy is part of some newfound &#8220;sexual liberation&#8221; movement — that another wave of feminism is in progress, where women have discovered for the first time that they have free will.
Here’s the point in all of this. The old code of sexual morality that they rejected — the one that those Christian conservatives were promoting, while being mocked and dismissed for it — that code was grounded, all along, in the true and the beautiful: in human dignity, love, commitment, chastity. The great virtues.
Those who repudiated that message for the sake of lust and instant gratification now find themselves living sexless lives anyway. They chose the opposite lifestyle and found it unfulfilling, harmful, destructive, and severely depressing. This is precisely what Christian conservatives warned would happen. This is why we said that hook up culture is bad; that the correct order of events is to find someone, pledge your love and loyalty to them, marry them, and then be physically intimate with them. In other words, we were right all along.
But in all of the coverage of the &#8220;celibacy trend,&#8221; there is of course no acknowledgment of that fact. There&#8217;s no recognition that we had this whole thing figured out many generations ago — thousands of years ago, in fact.
Unless all of these newly &#8220;celibate&#8221; people realize that celibacy is more than a trend or a political statement — then the satisfaction that they all say they&#8217;re feeling right now will be short-lived. &#8220;The Great Abstaining,&#8221; as The Cut put it, will give way to more unhappiness and inevitably more hedonism in short order.
The only way out of this cycle is to recognize why Christian conservatives have been calling for abstinence until marriage for so long, and give them some credit for it. The Religious Right has been repeatedly and consistently mocked for predicting the future for the past several decades now. We’ve always been right. About everything. It&#8217;s time for everyone else to start listening.

Over the past few years, I have discussed the pitfalls of feminism many times over. Recently, Gen Z has taken the spotlight for straying from the millennial girlboss trajectory in favor of a different avenue, including finding and being in their Soft-girl Era. They’re avoiding the grind at all costs. But what about the women who came before them? What is going to happen to the millennial girl bosses? And how did they get there in the first place?
First, it is worth noting that women are waking up and realizing that Third Wave feminism has not delivered on its promises. They feel lied to — rightly so — and some millennials have shared their thoughts on social media, explaining in videos how they fell for the lies and why they are now reevaluating their values, perspective, and future. They are genuinely processing through this reevaluation — not reading from a script. They aren’t even angrily spewing their thoughts. They’re just documenting in real time the realization they’re coming to.

These types of videos fill my feed, with women saying they feel lied to by culture, that they fell for the “I could do everything myself, that hyper independent bullsh*t.” This particular woman went on to explain that she is 31 with no kids or family because she was focused on making money, but now she is in a place where she is reevaluating “everything” including her values, perspectives, and desires for the future, which she says is, indeed, a family. And she is not the only one. Many women around her age are reevaluating their lives and what they have been focused on for the last 10 years. It’s heartbreaking — because these women really were lied to.
The feminist marketing machine of the last 30 years has been insanely hard at work in society, and to not lean into it was considered weird. The nontraditional path was the only way, lest you be considered a black sheep. But now, millennial women who did not choose the road less traveled and, instead, followed what had become the “normal” route are taking a good long look at their lives as they inch closer to middle age — and many do not like what they see. Even the comments of these videos prove this to be true: “Family over everything.”

The sad thing is that “family over everything” used to be the norm. At one time, family was what people prioritized. Now, however, it’s as though you must mature and age into realizing that is what is most important. Another comment in this video reads, “This is how we will heal our society, glad to see more women waking up.” One even casts blame on Beyonce, saying, “Yes! I blame Beyonce! Independent woman song the programming started in high school!” There are plenty of cultural icons in the entertainment industry who have furthered this idea that women do not need anything or anyone except their career and themselves to be happy — just one of the many societal prominent influences.

At the end of last year, Business Insider published <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/single-childless-want-husband-family-2023-11" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an essay</a> titled, “I’m 38 and single, and I recently realized I want a child. I’m terrified I’ve missed my opportunity.” In it, Melissa Persling explains that she got married young, decided she did not want to be a wife or a mother after all, and began to resent the man she married. When they’d married, they had agreed she would be a stay-at-home wife, but she fell into the feminist trap — and followed society’s lead. They got divorced, and she spent the ensuing years focusing on herself, chasing her career, and dating people who also did not want to get married or have children. Persling did not want to marry again, saying in her essay, “I needed independence, a fulfilling career, and space to chart my own course, and I didn’t think marriage fit into that vision. I was content to look forward to a future without a husband, children, or the trappings of a ‘traditional’ life.”
Then, she turned 38. She says she was amazed that she “began seriously thinking about marriage and children.” She goes on to explain she began feeling selfish and “went from proudly proclaiming I was too self-centered to be bothered with a family to realizing there was more to life than independence and the pleasures of living for oneself. My very existence started to feel shallow and hollow.” She said the quiet part out loud. Feminism tells women they need to be self-centered, that it’s healthy, when in reality, feminism glamorizes narcissism. And no one has ever seen a truly happy or fulfilled narcissist.
Society has told women that nothing matters except themselves and that because they don’t need anyone else, they shouldn’t want anyone else. In fact, wanting a partner, specifically a male partner, is indoctrination from the patriarchy. And yet, we are social creatures. We rely on community and partnership. We are biologically designed to both need and want a better half for protection, for procreation, and for community. Wanting such is not oppressive, backwards, or wrong. Rather, acknowledging such is natural. Furthermore, that certainly doesn’t mean you lose your independence, autonomy, or individuality. In fact, the right partner strengthens all those factors with love, encouragement, and stability so that you can do good in the world and come home to a loving person.
Persling ends her open letter writing, “If I sound desperate, it&#8217;s because I honestly do feel a little desperate. … I worry that men who want a family aren&#8217;t looking for a woman pushing 40. I get it; I&#8217;m no longer the ideal candidate for motherhood, and it&#8217;s a scary truth. But I still hope to find someone who thinks I&#8217;m the ideal partner and create our family together.” I am grieved for this woman and so many others in the same situation. I genuinely hope she finds someone, and I know that it’s possible she can.
For the women who are waking up to this realization, we should treat them with kindness. The typical Right-wing, red-pilled response defaults to making fun of them and throwing their choices in their faces. However, that does nothing to encourage or welcome them to this side of the aisle. The fact is, these women did make choices and they are facing the consequences — but they are taking responsibility. They shouldn’t be shamed for that. And we cannot ignore that they did not make these choices alone. They followed the mandates culture gave them, and they were doing what they believed to be the right thing at the time.
When women take account of their lives and values to make a change, they should never be mocked or have fingers pointed at them. Our society needs good women. We need good mothers. And we need good families.

Feminism Lied To A Generation Of Women. Now They’re Realizing What They Actually Want.

As a conservative Hispanic mother, successful business owner, and communications strategist, I am deeply troubled by the deceptive direction of today&#8217;s feminist movement. While many herald it as a beacon of progress and equality, I see it for what it truly is — a misleading effort that harms our workforce, diminishes our children, and fractures the very fabric of our society. This movement seduces women with the allure of empowerment but leaves behind a trail of confusion and societal decay.
When I was young, someone close to me wisely said, &#8220;Your education is the one thing you can give yourself that nobody can take away from you.&#8221; This piece of advice has been a guiding principle in my life, illustrating that personal development and pursuing multiple roles — such as education and motherhood — are not mutually exclusive. Women are uniquely capable of balancing profound responsibilities while excelling in their careers. Another innate gift that women possess is strong intuition; trusting in this can lead us to make wise and impactful decisions.
Recent remarks from Harrison Butker underscore a significant disconnect in how men and women address issues that matter to both genders. Having advised numerous political figures, I’ve observed that much of their outreach to women is shaped by male perspectives, leading to a misalignment with women&#8217;s actual needs and concerns. It’s essential to step beyond assumptions, engage directly with women, and hear their powerful voices. While Butker may not have perfectly resonated with today’s generation of women, his message should not be dismissed but rather recognized as a call to refine our approach to communication.
Our cultural landscape has dramatically shifted, abandoning traditional values and leading to the gradual indoctrination of our youth. Figures like George Soros have weaponized pop culture to fuel a divisive culture war, pushing young voters towards progressive agendas. This manipulation has birthed a generation more responsive to social media trends than substantive political discourse, challenging the Republican Party to better articulate conservative principles, particularly on issues like life and reproductive rights.
The feminist agenda, now intertwined with the political Left, weaponizes issues like abortion, portraying it as a hallmark of female freedom rather than a profound moral question. Hollywood and corrupt influencers have propagated this narrative for decades, contributing to the distortion of our moral compass.
Yet, empowerment for women should not be about promoting a culture of permissiveness but about fostering genuine respect and understanding of their incredible potential. History shows that women have been pivotal in driving societal progress — whether it was the suffragettes securing the vote or women pioneers in science and business. Women’s natural inclination towards creativity and leadership should be celebrated, not co-opted into political agendas that ultimately serve to polarize and mislead.
In my role as a mother to three sons, I emphasize the importance of respecting and valuing women. My boys are raised to appreciate the strength and capabilities of women, ensuring they understand that true gender respect means valuing each person’s contributions equally. This education is vital, as it prepares them to engage positively in a society that often sends mixed messages about gender roles.
Moreover, true empowerment arises from merit and hard-earned success. As a minority woman who has navigated numerous challenges, I can attest that achievement based on merit brings far greater satisfaction than any tokenism rooted in identity politics. We must teach our children — daughters and sons alike — that their actions and character define their path, not their gender or background.
As we strive to correct the course of modern feminism, let’s focus on what genuinely matters: instilling strong values in our children, championing the sanctity of life, and fostering a culture that appreciates and harnesses the unique strengths of both men and women. This isn&#8217;t just about opposing the Left’s narrative but about affirming the conservative values that cherish life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all.
Let’s not be swayed by the noise and distractions that aim to divide us. Although the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NFL</a> tried to distance itself from Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker after his openly traditional remarks at Benedictine College, some of which were specifically directed toward women, it is still making money off of him. As of Friday, the NFL store has reportedly sold out of Butker&#8217;s jersey in women&#8217;s sizes.
“The jersey shot up the best-selling <a style="font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;" href="https://www.outkick.com/sports/harrison-butkers-jersey-among-the-most-popular-selling-following-college-address" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rankings at the NFL store Thursday</a>, and as of publication Friday, all of the women&#8217;s jerseys are out of stock,” <a href="https://www.outkick.com/sports/harrison-butker-womens-jerseys-sold-out" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Outkick</a> reported on Friday, adding, &#8220;Even attempting to build a custom women&#8217;s jersey from a blank one with Butker&#8217;s name and number only gives a small as an option. The same is true for all custom female jerseys, which would indicate blank jerseys aren&#8217;t kept well-stocked.”
Butker’s remarks directed toward women outraged feminists and delighted traditionalists; he stated:

Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.
I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. I&#8217;m on the stage today and able to be the man I am because I have a wife who leans into her vocation. I&#8217;m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.

After Butker’s commencement speech at Benedictine College last week, Jonathan Beane, NFL senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer, responded, “Harrison Butker gave a speech in his personal capacity. His views are not those of the NFL as an organization. The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”

The following is a transcript excerpt from Andrew Klavan’s conversation with Mary Harrington on what reclaiming “feminism” could look like. In this section, Harrington explains her advocation for embracing certain feminist values without abandoning the entire ideology. Andrew Klavan: Just the other day, I got into a debate with my son Spencer. He had written a piece for Fairer Disputations — where you [Mary] sometimes appear — <a href="https://fairerdisputations.org/after-chivalry/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">about chivalry</a>, and I described it, I described Fairer Disputations, as women who are smart enough to realize that feminism has gone bad but refuse to get rid of the name “feminist.” And he rebuked me. He said that I was allowing the Left to co-opt the term “feminism,” and that since I care about the rights of women, I myself am a feminist. But who&#8217;s right there? I mean, I feel that feminism has been a failure, and maybe we should just say that. But does he have a point?
Mary Harrington: I&#8217;m going to be ecumenical on this. I&#8217;m going to say you&#8217;re both right. Spencer’s right in the sense that there is more than one feminism, and I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s self-evident that we have to hand feminism to the Left. But I think you&#8217;re right in the sense that, particularly in the United States — and I do think this is especially pronounced in the United States, for reasons that I can bore you with for hours if you let me — but it&#8217;s especially pronounced in the United States that a certain subset of feminism has become so dominant that everybody on the Right thinks that&#8217;s just the entirety of the movement. And they don&#8217;t get the history because it&#8217;s been memory hold by people who don&#8217;t like us. 
And so what America, in particular, understands about feminism is a very limited, a very narrow, and a very aggressively liberal, aggressively disembodied, and aggressively, I would argue, elite bourgeois version understanding of the movement, which is hostile to a great many conservative aims and actively sets out to attack a great many conservative keystone positions. So, I mean, from an American perspective, I&#8217;d say you&#8217;re right, but from a more historical, more nuanced, more international perspective, I would say Spencer has a point as well. 
I can elaborate. Historically, the women&#8217;s movement is internally very fractious. You know, we&#8217;ve always argued amongst ourselves about what it means. My framing for why that is is that I think we need to throw the progress story out of the window. I think the progressivist narrative that says we&#8217;re going from the bad past to the good future and that this can continue indefinitely and this always means more freedom and it always means more stuff and it always was means more Leftism, I think that&#8217;s B.S., if you forgive me. It’s simply simply false.
We&#8217;re obviously reaching a point now with a lot of these liberatory movements where we&#8217;re really scraping the barrel; we’re reaching diminishing returns. And I would say that for all but a very elite subset of women, the liberal feminist narrative is very obviously at that point now. It&#8217;s actively degrading life for all but the wealthiest women. And again, from an American perspective, if I thought that was all of feminism — as I think you&#8217;d be forgiven for thinking if you were an American conservative, you know — I would absolutely want to chuck it out of the window and say, “A plague on all of your houses. Be gone.” You know, let&#8217;s start again with a fresh slate. 
When I stuck “reactionary feminist” in my Twitter bio, it was kind of as a joke. It was the end of a long-running Twitter argument, all through Twitter direct message with a friend, about whether or not post-liberal meant anything. We argued about this for months, and eventually he said, “No, no, you should use reactionary.” And I said, “No, no, post-liberal is useful.” And I&#8217;m not going to bore you with the details, but, in the end, I conceded the point. I was like, ok, no, I buy “reactionary.” It&#8217;s more punk. Ok, fine. Let&#8217;s get rid of “post-liberal”; let’s have “reactionary” instead. It’s fight-ier. 
So I changed my Twitter bio just to see how long it would take him to notice. It took about three days, I think. But in the meantime, a bunch of other people noticed, including First Things who said, “Would you like to write something for First Things about what you mean? This is an interesting term.” And then I had to figure out what I meant. And now it&#8217;s a book. So that’s kind of the origin story. It literally started as a meme, which then became a thing. And I like it because it&#8217;s a signal scrambler. It poses the question, which really you [Klavan] started with, which is to say, you know: Do you have to believe in progress if you want to be a feminist? Can you care about the interests of women without signing up to the whole of the rest of that baggage train? And it&#8217;s a long baggage train now — as you spend every week discussing, as does The Daily Wire is very fond of going into in some depth. It’s a long baggage train, and there&#8217;s a lot of stuff there that you might or might not be signed up to. There&#8217;s a great deal of it that I&#8217;m not signed up to.
But I still think that men and women are fundamentally different in some ways, which you can&#8217;t just, you know, innovate away and that you can&#8217;t just pretend are not true and that we all irreducibly, you know, we&#8217;re equal. We&#8217;re equal in dignity and our capacity for excellence; however, there are some irreducible differences, particularly where it comes to sex, reproductive roles, and those things have political consequences. You know, at scale, they matter politically and they still matter, even though we live pretty comfortable, materially frictionless lives, you know, as denizens of the high-tech developed first world.
There are still some material differences. I mean, particularly when you have kids, the rubber hits the road and, you know, men can’t breastfeed; men can’t gestate, and there&#8217;s a whole bunch of subtler differences as well. Those things still matter. You know, if we&#8217;re not going to call giving a stuff about that and wanting to talk about it and wanting to have a politics which engages with that, if we&#8217;re going to call it “feminism,” what are we going to call it? Because it&#8217;s a thing, right?
So I say, why shouldn&#8217;t we? Let&#8217;s just take the word back, you know? Why should they have it?

During &#8220;The Megyn Kelly Show&#8221; <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0s5UZ7N2R4">podcast</a> on Friday, Kelly talked about Beyoncé&#8217;s &#8220;bada** b****&#8221; version of &#8220;Jolene&#8221; on her album &#8220;Cowboy Carter&#8221; and why she thinks it completely misses the mark, referencing an <a href="https://unherd.com/2024/04/has-beyonce-killed-jolene/">article</a> that she said explained how she felt.
&#8220;The original &#8216;Jolene&#8217; is a story about a woman feeling threatened by another woman who&#8217;s prettier and more alluring,&#8221; the host said. &#8220;And she&#8217;s basically begging her not to steal her man. That she can do it. She flatters her … but please don’t because I love him and I could never love anybody as much.&#8221;
&#8220;Then of course because it&#8217;s &#8216;Queen Bey,&#8217; we have to change it to be &#8216;f***ing take my man, I will hurt you b****…'&#8221;  she added. &#8220;And it&#8217;s much more, like, threatening, which I guess Beyoncé and Team Bey think is what empowerment looks like. For now, the threatened woman is just threatening to another woman who she thinks might have designs on her life partner…&#8221;

&#8220;And I have to say, I don&#8217;t find this empowering at all,&#8221; Kelly continued. &#8220;There&#8217;s something strange about what&#8217;s happening with the modern day definition of what a strong woman is. You can&#8217;t have any vulnerabilities or insecurities. You have to be this bada** b**** who&#8217;s, like, threatening, &#8216;F***ing a, you mess with my man.&#8217; And it&#8217;s to me, it&#8217;s a turnoff. &#8230; The true power move is not to worry, and not to have to worry. But Beyoncé couldn&#8217;t quite get there…&#8221;

The host of the show pointed to the article again and said she agreed that there is something strange happening in our culture that &#8220;strong female characters&#8221; are now just basically &#8220;men with tits.&#8221;
&#8220;Why did we have to go from women shouldn&#8217;t work, women should only have babies, women aren&#8217;t strong, women are too emotional, women have to be locked up for their hysterics if they express tears or anxiety,&#8221; Kelly said. &#8220;To women have no emotion, women are total ballbusters, and showing any softness, tears, empathy, vulnerability, insecurity is somehow non-feminine, and no longer acceptable in what an ideal woman is.&#8221;
&#8220;Well, I think it was a swing and a miss,” she added about Beyoncé’s &#8220;Jolene&#8221; and referenced <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/archive/2024/03/beyonce-jolene-cover-dolly-parton/677923/">The Atlantic</a> critic who wrote, &#8220;Beyoncé replaced the vulnerability that made &#8216;Jolene&#8217; one of the best tunes of all time with a bunch of bad-b**** cliches.&#8221;
&#8220;If you listen to the whole song, all the lyrics are changed,&#8221; Kelly continued. &#8220;She&#8217;s changed the entire meaning of the song &#8230; this is an entirely different message and I don&#8217;t buy it.&#8221;
