House Democrats are planning an &#8220;aggressive&#8221; push to greatly expand gun control as soon as they take control of the House of Representatives in January, <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house-democrats-plan-aggressive-gun-control-effort-next-year">the Washington Examiner reports</a>.
After a shooting at a California bar last week that claimed a dozen lives, Democrats have decided to shift (briefly) away from prioritizing several investigations into the Trump administration and President Donald Trump, and focus instead on passing strict gun control measures, including universal background checks, a national ban on &#8220;high capacity magazines,&#8221; a ban on &#8220;assault-style&#8221; weapons, and a provision that would allow law enforcement to temporarily confiscate weapons from individuals deemed a threat to themselves or others.
Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) told The Wall Street Journal last week that he intends to immediately push for the universal background check legislation which would require gun retailers and gun sellers to register all gun purchases through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). The effort would close what Democrats call the &#8220;gun show loophole,&#8221; which they believe allows individuals to purchase guns in private transactions &#8212; at gun shows and elsewhere &#8212; without registering their firearms with any state or federal body.
It&#8217;s not clear how many more gun sales that system would record, given that most gun shows feature federally licensed retailers who are already required to do background checks through NICS and disclose sales to the federal government. Gun owners and gun rights groups also fear that a universal background check system could lead to a national gun registry.
Newly-elected Democratic Rep. Lucy McBath (GA) is a former spokeswoman for Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation&#8217;s leading gun control advocacy organization, and is likely to join the push for a national gun registry and a national ban on &#8220;assault-style&#8221; firearms, even though Democrats have difficulty explaining what an &#8220;assault&#8221; weapons ban would outlaw.
Last week&#8217;s shooting took place in a state, California, which has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. The shooter, a former Marine reportedly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, obtained and used a &#8220;high capacity magazine&#8221; even though such magazines are banned statewide.
The efforts will likely have the support of presumed Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who pledged last week to tackle gun control within days of gaining control of the House.
&#8220;The American people deserve real action to end the daily epidemic of gun violence that is stealing the lives of our children on campuses, in places of worship and on our streets,&#8221; Pelosi told a press conference last week.
The efforts aren&#8217;t likely to meet with success. President Trump has pronounced himself a fan of the Second Amendment, and despite Democratic control of the House, Republicans still retain a sizable majority in the Senate, and any bill would need to pass both Houses before becoming law.

Levi&#8217;s denim company has pledged more than a million dollars to gun control organizations in an effort to curb the gun violence in the &#8220;very communities where we live and work.&#8221;
The brand best known for its jeans is taking the same gamble as Nike: betting that by getting woke, they&#8217;ll avoid going broke, building up goodwill with social justice-focused consumers who want brands they wear to match up with the ideals they espouse.
Levi Strauss and Company announced the move <a href="http://fortune.com/2018/09/04/levi-strauss-gun-violence-parkland/?utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;xid=soc_socialflow_twitter_FORTUNE&amp;utm_campaign=fortunemagazine">in Fortune magazine</a> through a letter from its CEO, Chip Bergh, defending the move before Levi&#8217;s even came under scrutiny.
Bergh said the brand &#8220;simply cannot stand by silently when it comes to issues that threaten the very fabric of the communities where we live and work.&#8221;
&#8220;You may wonder why a company that doesn&#8217;t manufacture or sell guns is wading into this issue, but for us, it&#8217;s simple,&#8221; Bergh continued. &#8220;Americans shouldn&#8217;t have to live in fear of gun violence. It&#8217;s an issue that affects all of us &#8212; all generations and all walks of life.&#8221;
Bergh claims that his role as CEO of a &#8220;values-driven company&#8221; obligates him to speak out on the issue. He also took a swipe at Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who suggested that instead of curbing Second Amendment rights to prevent school violence, local communities should consider &#8220;hardening&#8221; soft targets.
&#8220;We can&#8217;t insulate ourselves from every threat,&#8221; Bergh wrote. &#8220;We can&#8217;t &#8216;harden&#8217; every place we gather &#8212; whether it be our schools, workplaces, shops, churches, or entertainment venues. But we can take common-sense, measurable steps &#8212; like criminal background checks on all gun sales &#8212; that will save lives.&#8221;
The company will partner with &#8212; of course &#8212; Everytown for Gun Safety in its efforts, and Bergh will join a coalition called &#8220;Everytown Business Leaders for Gun Safety.&#8221;

<a href="https://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2018/08/27/640323347/the-school-shootings-that-werent">A new report from National Public Radio</a> &#8212; not exactly a right-leaning outlet &#8212; claims that the Department of Education and gun control activists have wildly overstated the number of school shootings that took place in 2017.
NPR conducted the study in partnership with Child Trends, which compiles and analyzes data about school-aged children, after realizing that no two outlets were able to provide an exact number of &#8220;school shootings&#8221; and that the number of school shootings varied widely from outlet to outlet.
The Department of Education reports that there were 235 school shootings during the 2015-2016 school year and told NPR that it relied on self-reported statistics from school districts.
But when NPR dug into the reported incidents, it could confirm just 11 school shootings. More than two thirds of the claimed school shootings &#8220;never happened&#8221; they said. In 161 of the reported incidents, school officials weren&#8217;t aware anything had happened. In four of the incidents, &#8220;something did happen, but it didn&#8217;t meet the government&#8217;s parameters for a shooting.&#8221;
The &#8220;235&#8221; number is cited often in regards to school shootings, but even major gun control advocacy organizations like Everytown for Gun Safety couldn&#8217;t confirm the government&#8217;s data. They found just 29 school shootings. The ACLU, which also conducted its own research, found &#8220;fewer than a dozen.&#8221;
The discrepancy harkens back to an earlier statistical error that blanketed social media in the days and weeks after the Parkland school shooting: that in the United States one school shooting happens, on average, <a href="https://www.politico.com/newsletters/playbook/2018/02/15/school-shootings-2018-average-248207">every 2.5 days</a>. A similar problem occurred after Santa Fe, when news outlets reported there had been &#8220;18 school shootings&#8221; from January through May of 2018.
The problem, NPR suggests, is that different statistical bodies define a &#8220;shooting&#8221; differently. The &#8220;2.5&#8221; number that surfaced after Parkland included any gun-related incident that occurred anywhere near a school, even if that incident was after school hours and did not involve a student. The &#8220;18&#8221; number defined non-mass shootings as &#8220;school shootings&#8221; in a similar way, mixing in gang violence.
The DOE&#8217;s numbers include mistakes made by school districts (one district reported 37 shootings when it meant to report 37 incidents of students possessing a knife, gun, or other weapon), and a number of incidents that are obviously not school shootings, including &#8220;a report of a toy cap gun fired on a school bus&#8221; and a student who &#8220;took a picture of himself at home holding a gun and posted it to social media.&#8221;
NPR suggests that the federal government needs to either improve its data collection policies or streamline reporting requirements for school districts to get better numbers.

In a virtue signaling stunt on Saturday, a former porn star decided to give up her shotgun after the recent school shooting in Texas, indicating that while she supports the Second Amendment she was sick and tired of the recent acts of violence that have dominated national headlines.
In a series of tweets, Mia Khalifa claimed that she was &#8220;not against the 2nd amendment,&#8221; but was against the deaths of children which led her to give up her shotgun, which she stored on the wall of her living room.
Khalifa tweeted: &#8220;They couldn&#8217;t have made it easier. Thank you, @Austin_Police for picking up my weapon for safe destruction. This may not effect anyone but, but it&#8217;s symbolic. If all of us were to #DoSomething small, eventually it will add up and change the world.&#8221;

Former Porn Star Gives Up Her Gun In Virtue Signaling Stunt, Parrots Democratic Talking Points

The mainstream media gave a massive spotlight to the anti-gun March For Our Lives, which featured many of the student survivors of the recent shooting in Parkland, Florida. However, there is a group of students planning the Stand for the Second walkout, orchestrated to support the Bill of Rights on May 2nd of this year. 
I spoke with the organizer, a high school senior in New Mexico named Will Riley, about the planned event, its message, and the reaction from his school, the media, and his peers. 
Q: What gave you the idea to do this pro-Second Amendment walkout?
WR: The National Day of Action and March For Our Lives were student-led movements that obviously had a lot of help from gun control organizations and the media&#8217;s response was to call for more gun regulations while claiming that this is &#8220;for the kids.&#8221; But when I look around, I see hundreds of students who are signing up for our march who are not for gun control, especially when former Supreme Court Justice Stephens comes out and says we should just repeal the Second Amendment entirely. What the media is saying is a mischaracterization of my generation. 
The reason we&#8217;re doing it as walkout, the (March For Our Lives) students received that as a platform from their schools. It was totally condoned, across the country, if not, then outright encouraged, and our movement deserves to have the same platform. We need an equal playing field or it&#8217;s viewpoint discrimination. 
Q: Is there significance behind the date, May 2nd?
WR: We chose May the second, since our theme is &#8216;Stand for the Second.&#8217; I started this about a month ago and we originally wanted to do it in April, but we decided to shoot for May to help better organize it. 
Q: How has the school district reacted? Have they been supportive, neutral, or hostile?
WR: The new principal was a little hostile but it was more about the students doing another walkout than the stance we were taking. He&#8217;s thinking, &#8220;They just did a walkout and now they&#8217;re doing another walkout,&#8221; so I don&#8217;t think it was a political issue as it was keeping us from walking out of school everyday. 
But, I explained to him that this is just something that we want to have an equal playing field. We&#8217;re only asking for 16 minutes, one minute less than the National Day of Action had. 
We chose 16 minutes because it is estimated that 1.5 million people use a firearm to defend themselves; if you break it down with our 16 minutes, that&#8217;s 91 people using a gun in a responsible and correct way without hurting innocent people. 
And after I spoke with the principal, we worked out something that did not interfere with state testing or finals, they allowed it, and even said they would provide extra security to make sure all goes well. 
Q: How have your peers reacted? Have they been supportive?
WR: Yeah, they have been. Most of the ones I&#8217;ve talked to are happy about it. I think a lot of people have been thinking the same thing. That is, the March For Our Lives and the National Day of Action don&#8217;t represent us or our views. They wanted a place to express their views and they are happy to see this platform. 
Q: The March For Our Lives got a lot of press coverage, both local and national as well as support from local politicians. Have you received any positive or at least fair reporting from the local and national media? Have any politicians come out in support?
WR: There are a few state newspapers that have given us fair coverage. There are two local television networks that have given us fair coverage and have interviewed me in a fair way. At the national level, the Washington Examiner published my <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/parklands-anti-gun-students-dont-speak-for-me-or-my-generation">op-ed</a> that I wrote for this, some conservative outlets have covered us, but not really anything else. 
As for as national organizations, the Tea Party Patriots are helping us get off the ground and stuff. 
Now to be clear, this is totally student-led, student-driven and the Tea Party Patriots are just helping us do things like help us get conference calls set-up to bounce ideas off each other and help us get an interactive map up. 
Outside of that, we don&#8217;t have quite the advantage that March For Our Lives had.
Q: If a student hears about what&#8217;s going on at your school, and wants to lead one on their campus, how can they can involved?
WR: A ton of people have already signed up. A majority of schools are outside of New Mexico and even outside the Southwest. We&#8217;ve gotten tremendous support and we&#8217;re in 300 schools right now in something like 40 states. If you look at our interactive map, there is a place to sign-up, the Tea Party Patriots provided a page on their website to help do that. You can link to that from our website; it&#8217;s all spelled out. 
Q: What would you say to a student who wants to get involved, but is afraid of pushback from the school district, teachers, parents, or their peers? 
WR: I would say this is an incredibly important issue and because it is the students who are being used in the arguments in this case, it is also incredibly important that we stand up now. Otherwise, there will be some horrible, unconstitutional action based on this myth that all of the students are supporting it. 
Around the country, the student organizers I&#8217;ve talked to, some have said, &#8220;I may be the only one who does this at my school. I live in an incredibly progressive area. I could get suspended.&#8221;
If that is what it is going to take for us to have our voices heard, then I would encourage you to do that. That is something that is heroic. 
Q: What do you want the message to be for this walkout?
WR: The message that we want to get out is that not everyone is on board with this shortsighted crusade against the Bill of Rights and the Second Amendment. I think there are still patriots coming up in the next generation and we&#8217;re trying to make sure that whenever it&#8217;s our turn to lead America, it&#8217;s going to be the America the founders intended and not some Orwellian nightmare created by destroying the Bill of Rights.

The March For Our Lives against gun violence, organized by kids for kids, quietly registered as a 501(c)(4) with the D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs, <a href="http://freebeacon.com/issues/march-lives-now-operating-dark-money-nonprofit-advocacy-group/">The Washington Free Beacon</a> reports &#8212; a designation that allows the March to keep its big money donors secret from prying eyes.
According to WFB, the March, whose signature event is scheduled for this Saturday, <a href="https://corponline.dcra.dc.gov/BizEntity.aspx/ViewContact?bizEntityContactId=693804&amp;currentTabConfigurationId=572">decided to incorporate</a> as a &#8220;social welfare&#8221; organization, and a non-profit, but not a 501(c)(3), a designation which would have allowed those who donated to the March to claim their contributions as tax deductions, but which would have required the March itself to submit a list of their contributors to the IRS.
As a 501(c)(3), however, donor information would become searchable as soon as the March filed their annual tax paperwork. Given how quiet the Parkland students agitating for gun control have been about who is funding and organizing their efforts, it&#8217;s no surprise that the adults in charge would seek to keep certain information out of the public eye.
One thing is clear from the March&#8217;s paperwork: the kids are definitely no longer in charge.
It was already evident that major leftists organizations were dictating the March&#8217;s agenda and schedule. Buzzfeed reported weeks ago that Everytown for Gun Safety, the Giffords organization, Planned Parenthood, and the Women&#8217;s March had all taken critical roles in organizing Saturday&#8217;s event. Key Democratic legislators, like Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), moved in on the kids quickly, and helped facilitate meetings with progressive groups.
The paperwork lists Jeri Rhodes as the March&#8217;s top official. Rhodes, according to WFB, &#8220;lobbies Congress and the administration to advance peace, justice, opportunity, and environmental stewardship,&#8221; and was formerly the chief financial officer of Greenpeace.
The <a href="https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/march-for-our-lives-action-fund_us_5ab02dbbe4b0697dfe19a488">Huffington Post</a> also discovered that while the kids are theoretically in charge, a &#8220;board of directors&#8221; that reads like a who&#8217;s who of progressive activists will decide how <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/stonemandouglasvictimsfund">the nearly $4 million the kids have raised</a> is spent.

The Parkland students will serve as an &#8220;advisory board&#8221; with no apparent official say over how the funds are dispersed.
The March for Our Lives website says donations will go towards covering expenses so that students can attend the protest in Washington, D.C., but the March&#8217;s public relations firm told HuffPo that whatever&#8217;s left over will go to &#8220;&#8216;fight for comprehensive gun safety legislation&#8217; and to promote voter education, ballot initiatives and lobbying efforts.&#8221;
Leftists have long complained about the 501(c)(4) designation because it is designed, specifically, to hide how money is raised and spent. Mostly, progressive groups have charged that major conservative donors, like the Koch brothers, use the designation to keep their web of contributions quiet.
Now, it seems, they&#8217;re using the same designation to keep donors to the March out of the loop as to how their money is being spent, and where their donations are really going &#8212; because, it appears, those donations aren&#8217;t going to the Parkland students.

The March For Our Lives Forms Up A Dark Money Group To Hide Its Donors

Viacom networks, including MTV, went dark for 17 minutes Wednesday morning in a show of support for students attending the national walkout against guns or gun violence, or for gun control (the purpose of the walkout seems largely undefined).
Regardless &#8212; and regardless of whether anyone watches MTV anymore &#8212; the network began its solidarity protest at 10:00 a.m. EST, and in the 17 minutes that followed aired &#8220;inspirational&#8221; footage of students agitating for gun control, reports <a href="https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/8245255/mtv-goes-dark-to-honor-young-victims-of-gun-violence">Billboard Magazine</a>.
&#8220;The global youth brand will also honor the initiative across its social media platforms, with students at different school walkouts taking over MTV&#8217;s Facebook stories, Instagram stories, Snapchat and their Look Different (@LookDifferent) Twitter account,&#8221; according to Billboard. Viacom will also make the logos on all of its networks orange in support of Everytown for Gun Safety, until the national March For Our Lives on March 24.
Like Wednesday&#8217;s marches, the Viacom effort doesn&#8217;t seem to have taken into account a &#8220;return on investment&#8221; aspect; it&#8217;s not immediately clear what changing a logo and going dark for 17 minutes in the midst of a rerun of &#8220;Winter Break&#8221; will do for the larger gun debate. For Nickelodeon viewers &#8212; who also got 17 minutes of &#8220;inspirational&#8221; content &#8212; it probably meant 17 minutes of boredom (or 17 minutes of pestering their parents).

MTV Went Dark For 17 Minutes To Protest Gun Violence — But You Probably Didn’t Notice

The Parkland students, now traveling America pushing for gun control in the wake of a mass shooting at their high school, are receiving help from some of the shining stars of the progressive universe &#8212; and even from some well-placed Democratic legislators &#8212; in their quest to change the nation&#8217;s gun laws.
<a href="https://www.buzzfeed.com/maryanngeorgantopoulos/parkland-teens-organization?utm_term=.bcYXyV12B7#.mj7bKMq8Pv">According to a report from Buzzfeed</a>, which reads almost like a press release done on behalf of the March for Our Lives set to take place shortly in Washington, D.C., the Parkland students are getting help from everyone from Michael Bloomberg&#8217;s Everytown for Gun Safety, to the George Soros-funded MoveOn.org, to that notorious organization known for its impeccable commitment to child safety, Planned Parenthood.
Even the Women&#8217;s March is getting in on the act, helping the Parkland students to apply for permits and organize transportation and security for their March for Our Lives. And Giffords, the organization started by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her family, says they &#8220;will be lending support in any way the students need, especially helping to operationalize these marches from logistics to programming&#8221; in Washington and at the &#8220;sister marches&#8221; across the country.
They&#8217;re even getting help from labor unions, including the American Federation of Teachers, and the students (and their parents) have now hired the national public relations firm, 42West, to handle their booking, media relations, and personal management.
It seems to come as a surprise to Buzzfeed that the students are receiving so much high-powered help. But a quick glance at their travel and meeting itinerary from the last week &#8212; which took them from New York to D.C., and involved a number of national cable news interviews and meetings with high-profile legislators &#8212; reveals that they would not have been able to make such an impact alone. Such a national campaign takes time, money, and connections these kids simply don&#8217;t have.
Until now, though, many, including those in the left-leaning media, have refused to admit that the Parkland students had help, insisting instead that the gun safety push was simply the end result of good old grassroots activism.
But even if the Parkland students wanted to &#8220;go it alone,&#8221; so to speak, they could hardly believe that major progressive organizations, who could use crying children to promote their political agenda, would somehow remain on the sidelines, particularly given how much money is to be made in supporting the March for Our Lives. The GoFundMe for the March has raked in nearly $3 million, and everyone who helps organize or &#8220;operationalize,&#8221; as Giffords put it, will get a piece of that pie.
Organizations like MoveOn and Planned Parenthood, although they have only a marginal connection to gun policy, will fundraise off their support for the March, from progressive activists who can&#8217;t make it to D.C., and from those who believe &#8220;intersectionality&#8221; is the key to winning major legislative battles.
But if their involvement is creepy, Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz&#8217;s involvement is downright ghoulish. The senior legislator from Broward County barely let a day go by before she was on the phone with Parkland students, organizing meetings and making introductions, in the hopes that the students could quickly accomplish her . . . errr . . . their legislative agenda.

Without a hint of irony, the abortion provider stated: &#8220;Schools are meant to be safe &#8212; they are sites of growth and development for young people.&#8221;
Below that, Planned Parenthood cited an alleged statistic: &#8220;As of 2013, the United States has averaged nearly one school shooting per week.&#8221;
While many on Twitter were quick to point out that alongside schools, a womb is &#8220;meant to be safe&#8221; and a &#8220;site of growth and development for young people,&#8221; no one seemed to question the &#8220;once a week&#8221; school shooting statistic.
Let&#8217;s examine that.
The tweet from Planned Parenthood links to an article. Within the article, a link to the organization from which they obtained the statistic can be found. Unsurprisingly, the abortion provider got their information from the infamous Everytown for Gun Safety.
Everytown&#8217;s official website has an <a href="https://everytownresearch.org/school-shootings/3492/">interactive map</a> where you can click on each of the alleged &#8220;291 school shootings in America since 2013.&#8221; However, upon further examination, it becomes clear that Everytown&#8217;s definition of &#8220;school shooting&#8221; is rather broad.

During the investigation of what turned out to be a false alarm, a Broward Sheriff&#8217;s Office deputy unintentionally discharged his firearm, injuring his leg. The deputy was treated at the scene.&#8221; This took place at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, Florida.</li>

<li>On September 12, 2017, &#8220;an unidentified campus security guard was carrying his personal handgun while on duty when he unintentionally discharged it while handling it, hitting himself in the shoulder. He was able to walk to a campus medical center, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The security guard originally told officers he was shot by an unknown assailant, causing a manhunt and the campus to be locked down, but later admitted to shooting himself. He was arrested and charged with reporting a false crime.&#8221; This took place at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota.</li>

<li>On September 28, 2015, &#8220;a 21-year-old Montana Tech student was cleaning a firearm when he unintentionally discharged a round into the floor of his university-owned apartment. No one was physically harmed. The incident occurred in a 60-unit building that provides housing for students, families, faculty and staff.&#8221; This took place at Montana Tech in Butte, Montana.</li>

<li>On April 13, 2015, &#8220;a 20-year-old assailant fatally shot Ron Lane, 44, with a shotgun in the school library. Law enforcement apprehended the shooter and charged him with murder. Lane was an openly gay man and the shooter admitted that he &#8216;hates gays with a passion.&#8217;&#8221; This took place at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina.</li>

While the above incidents range from foolish to tragic, few would call them &#8220;school shootings&#8221; in the same vein as Parkland, Sandy Hook, or Columbine. Yet Everytown and Planned Parenthood don&#8217;t bother to make those necessary distinctions.
Taken at face value, Planned Parenthood&#8217;s info-graphic makes it seem as though &#8220;school shootings&#8221; like what occurred in Parkland, Florida, are a once-weekly occurrence, which is patently false.

Planned Parenthood Claims There Has Been An Average Of ‘One School Shooting Per Week’ Since 2013

Adults who prostitute traumatized teenagers to advance their political agenda should be ashamed of themselves, and those at CNN who do it should be fired. Last night, moderator <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oe4bKlbe7vI">Jake Tapper</a> looked on silently as Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Cameron Kasky <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lo52BObqCds">compared</a> Sen. Marco Rubio to a mass child murderer. Kasky prefaced his ignorant attack on the National Rifle Association by saying, &#8220;Senator Rubio, it&#8217;s hard to look at you and not look down the barrel of an AR-15 and not look at [shooter&#8217;s name], but you&#8217;re here.&#8221; Such vile calumny would ordinarily demand censure even from the Democrat operatives of CNN. But by broadcasting their indefensible political views from the mouths of unassailable teenage survivors of a mass shootings, CNN inoculates Democrat talking points from criticism.
It&#8217;s little wonder that CNN, which regularly draws <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WozIa1r_Vkk">moral equivalence</a> between Hamas and the terrorists&#8217; victims, would find nothing wrong with using children as human shields. Former CNN host Piers Morgan&#8217;s demagogic baloney didn&#8217;t survive the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHIQtxLCgrM">Shapiro meat grinder</a> during the network&#8217;s last major push from control. So in the wake of last week&#8217;s Parkland shooting, the network has focused all of its programming on broadcasting the <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/15/us/david-hogg-school-shooting-new-day-cnntv/index.html">adolescent</a> <a href="https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2018/02/19/florida-shooting-survivor-emma-gonzalez-nra-gun-control-intv-newday.cnn">survivors</a> <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/21/us/david-hogg-conspiracy-theories-response/index.html">themselves</a>. Other left-wing networks and publications have rebroadcast those segments, and Twitter has awarded the most outspoken left-wing students blue checkmark endorsements.
Conservatives should be undeterred by this trick, rendered all the more transparent by a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student enrolled in the ROTC program, Colton Haab, who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/27451/cnn-responds-accusation-it-scripted-questions-james-barrett">alleges</a> that CNN told him to read a scripted question during their slanderous broadcast. CNN is now calling that student a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/27451/cnn-responds-accusation-it-scripted-questions-james-barrett">liar</a> &#8212; because we must listen to the children except when what the children say is inconvenient for CNN. Without falling into Democrats&#8217; trap and stooping to attack the ignorant teenagers themselves, conservatives should aim their criticism squarely at the craven adults who exploit them.
CNN so desperately seeks to manipulate its audience&#8217;s emotions because the facts uniformly refute its gun-grabbing agenda. No gun control law proposed in recent years would have prevented this massacre. Over <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/27440/what-percentage-mass-shootings-happen-gun-free-amanda-prestigiacomo">98%</a> of mass shootings occur in &#8220;gun-free zones,&#8221; according to the Crime Prevention Research Center. According to the FBI, twice as many people are killed annually by <a href="https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-11">hands and feet</a> than by rifles of any kind, including the dread Armalite (AR) 15. Two-thirds of annual gun deaths are <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/09/upshot/gun-deaths-are-mostly-suicides.html">suicides</a>, mostly by middle-aged men. Gun homicides in the United States have declined by almost <a href="http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2013/05/07/gun-homicide-rate-down-49-since-1993-peak-public-unaware/">50%</a> since 1993.
The gun-grab laws advocated by CNN would deprive Americans of their constitutionally-protected civil rights and not save one single life. Conservatives should respond without mercy. CNN impugns our motives and tactics; let&#8217;s relentlessly expose theirs. Conservative commentators should boycott the network. Those who do appear should, during each and every segment, remind viewers of last night&#8217;s exploitative, calumnious broadcast. They should call on those responsible for dishonest display to be fired. We should never miss an opportunity to remind our countrymen that the gun-free zones advocated by CNN demonstrably imperil children&#8217;s lives. Let&#8217;s not accept their dishonest premises, and let&#8217;s never miss an opportunity to strike. CNN has descended to a new, hideous low in its battle against conservatives. Let&#8217;s not bring a knife to a gunfight.

A frequently cited statistic about school shootings is so egregiously misleading that even the generally left-leaning Washington Post has been forced to call out the &#8220;flat wrong&#8221; claim.
After the horrific mass shooting at a Parkland, Florida high school on Wednesday, which was carried out by a 19-year-old former student with a history of psychological and behavioral problems, several headlines and social media posts have included the claim that there have been &#8220;18 school shootings in 2018.&#8221; But as <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/node/27165">The Daily Wire</a> reported Wednesday, a closer look at the numbers showed that was simply untrue. The phony statistic comes from anti-gun group &#8220;Everytown for Gun Safety,&#8221; which has a habit of conflating accidental gun discharges, suicides, and mass shootings to inflate numbers as a means to promote their gun control agenda.
This time, Everytown&#8217;s fake statistic was so misleading that the Washington Post felt compelled to publish a fact-check article unsubtly titled, &#8220;<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/?utm_term=.fc36f6124951">No, there haven&#8217;t been 18 school shootings in 2018. That number is flat wrong.</a>&#8221; As the Post points out, only five of the 18 supposed &#8220;school shootings&#8221; actually occurred during shool hours and resulted in any injuries.
One of the most egregious of the supposed school shootings involved a man who shot himself in a car parked at an elementary school that &#8220;had been closed for seven months.&#8221; After being called out for that particularly absurd example, Everytown said it&#8217;s going to remove that one from its list. But the larger question remains: Five school shootings is horrific enough &#8212; why does Everytown feel the need to inflate the number with bogus examples?
Here&#8217;s the key passage debunking Everytown&#8217;s much-cited claim:

A week later, as a basketball game was being played at a Michigan high school, someone <a href="https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/no-injuries-reported-after-altercation-leads-to-shooting-in-dearborn-high-school-parking-lot">fired several rounds</a> from a gun in the parking lot. No one was injured, and it was past 8 p.m., well after classes had ended for the day, but Everytown still labeled it a school shooting. &#8230;
Just five of Everytown&#8217;s 18 school shootings listed for 2018 happened during school hours and resulted in any physical injury. Another three appeared to be intentional shootings but didn&#8217;t hurt anyone. Two more involved guns &#8212; one carried by a school police officer and the other by a licensed peace officer who ran a college club &#8212; that were unintentionally fired and, again, led to no injuries. At least seven of Everytown&#8217;s 18 shootings took place outside normal school hours.

As the Post&#8217;s fact-check suggests, this isn&#8217;t the first time they&#8217;ve caught Everytown trying to mislead the public on the issue of mass shootings. They also nailed Everytown back in 2015 about its notorious <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/06/29/has-there-been-one-school-shooting-per-week-since-sandy-hook/?utm_term=.23b3cee8e7fb">conflation of vastly different gun-related situations</a>, including &#8220;attempted and committed suicides, accidental discharges, armed robberies, gang fights, shootings resulting from altercations, and shootings similar to the rampages at Sandy Hook or in Charleston, where a person intends to kill multiple people.&#8221;

‘Flat Wrong’: Washington Post Torches Much-Cited School Shooting Statistic

The Florida school shooting on Wednesday was a horrific massacre in which at least 17 people were murdered. In any ideal world, the number of students injured or murdered in school shootings should be zero, but because of the terrible number of students killed in the Wednesday massacre, it would be easy to assume, from the postures of some who have reacted to the tragedy, that great numbers of students and children have been killed in incessant school shootings. That isn&#8217;t the case.
As information compiled by Michael Medved producer Greg Tomlin shows, in the years 2016 and 2017, at K-12 schools in America, of the 51 million students enrolled, there were seven children killed. That is seven human lives snuffed out, and the agony of the families who suffered the loss is incalculable, but seven is far less than one would suppose from the media coverage, which has misleadingly claimed that there were 18 school shootings in January alone.
Three students were killed in 2016; four in 2017, as totaled from the website <a href="http://everytownresearch.org/">EveryTownResearch.org</a>.
One example of how facts get skewed: in one instance, a shooting was deemed a &#8220;school shooting&#8221; because a person who lived near a school went on a rampage and shot five people in the neighborhood. The school was placed on lockdown, but no student was killed, yet it is still listed as a &#8220;school shooting.&#8221;

<li>December 1, 2016 &#8211; Bountiful, Utah (Deaths/Injuries 0) At Mueller Park Junior High School, a 15-year-old student fired one shot into the ceiling and then pointed the weapon at his own neck. The student was confronted verbally by a teacher and another student and later arrested in possession of a shotgun, a handgun, and ammunition for each.</li>

A suspect was arrested in August 2017.</li>
<li>April 10, 2017 &#8211; San Bernardino, California (Deaths 3, Injuries 1) North Park Elementary School shooting: Cedric Anderson, age 53, of Riverside, California, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting and killing his estranged wife, Karen Elaine Smith, age 53, in a classroom. An eight-year-old student was also fatally shot, and a seven-year-old student was injured.</li>
<li>September 13, 2017 &#8211; Rockford, Washington (Deaths 1, Injuries 3) Freedman High School: Three students injured and one killed after a shooter opened fire. The suspect, a 15-year-old student, was taken into police custody.</li>

<li>November 14, 2017 &#8211; Rancho Tehama Reserve, California (Deaths 6, Injuries 18) Neighbor on a rampage injured one student at Rancho Tehama Elementary School and fatally shot five adults at several locations. The secretary heard the gunfire near the school and ordered the school to go on lockdown. After a custodian and the teachers put it into action, 43 year-old Kevin Neal rammed a truck into the gate of the school and fired at the classrooms hitting one student when a bullet pierced the wall. Neal fatally shot himself after sheriff&#8217;s deputies rammed his vehicle during a pursuit.</li>
<li>December 7, 2017 &#8211; Aztec, New Mexico (Deaths 3) Aztec High School shooting: William Atchison, 21-year-old former male student snuck into Aztec High School disguised as a student and hid in an unlocked washroom with a Glock 9mm hidden in his bag. He retreated from the washroom after being spotted by a school custodian who chased him shouting &#8220;active shooter&#8221; and &#8220;lockdown&#8221;. Atchinson was able to shoot and kill two students who were caught in the hallway before he killed himself. He had been investigated in 2016 by the FBI when he asked &#8220;where to find cheap assault rifles for a mass shooting&#8221; on an online forum.</li>

How Many Children Died In School Shootings In 2016-2017?

Gun Control is not a policy. It&#8217;s a slogan.
Each time there&#8217;s a mass shooting, Democrats and members of the media (but I repeat myself) rush to the microphones and cameras to declare that this, finally, is the proper time to push Gun Control. Gun Control, in this case, is defined as literally anything that restricts gun purchases, transfers, or ownership. It is virtually never anything that will do anything to stop mass shootings.
The argument goes something like this.
Other countries do not experience anything remotely approaching the level of mass shootings we have in the United States. Those countries have heavy gun regulations. Therefore, if we impose gun regulations in the United States, the level of mass shootings will drop.
The fallacy in this argument is that the United States has a unique philosophy, history, population, and ownership level of firearms already. That means that proposed solutions must take into account those varying factors, and deal with them head-on. But Gun Control advocates refuse to do so. Instead, they merely shout &#8220;GUN CONTROL,&#8221; and then defy their opponents to speak out against the slogan. They proclaim that the vast majority of Americans want more Gun Control. But that&#8217;s as empty as stating that the vast majority of Americans want government spending cuts. It&#8217;s not that the devil is in the details. It&#8217;s that the details are the entire matter under discussion. The question with regard to spending is: which programs would you cut? And the question with Gun Control is: which people would you prevent from getting guns, and how?
The Left rarely proposes an actual piece of legislation. That&#8217;s deliberate. First off, many conservatives are in favor of certain gun control proposals &#8212; even the NRA backs certain gun control proposals, particularly with regard to fully automatic machine guns and prevention of mentally ill people from obtaining weapons.
If the Left were to propose a piece of legislation, they&#8217;d have to defend it on the merits. They wouldn&#8217;t be able to posture about how &#8220;everyone but those evil Second Amendment advocates agrees!&#8221; Because not everyone would agree with their proposals. In fact, most people typically haven&#8217;t. Which is why Democrats, enjoying a 60-vote majority in the Senate and a wide majority in the House from 2009-2011, passed precisely zero major pieces of gun legislation &#8212; and why when Barack Obama attempted to use the Social Security Administration to seize guns from elderly people who used a proxy for their finances, even the ACLU opposed him.
All of which means that Democratic addiction to talking about Gun Control is precisely that: addiction to talking about Gun Control. It&#8217;s not an addiction to recommending anything, let alone doing anything. Gun Control is an excuse for nincompoops like Tommy Vietor to tweet nonsense like this:

On Friday, Julianne Moore graced the harpies at The View with her presence, where the actress spewed out complete ignorance, perhaps purposefully so, of the Second Amendment.
Moore declared that gun control measures &#8212; which she referred to with the Orwellian phrase &#8220;gun safety&#8221; &#8212; are not &#8220;a Second Amendment issue.&#8221;
&#8220;You know, people like to talk about it as if it&#8217;s a Second Amendment issue,&#8221; said Moore, an advocate for &#8220;gun safety&#8221; activist group <a href="https://donate.everytown.org/donate/support-everytown-p/?source=gmnp_EOY&amp;utm_source=gm_n_&amp;utm_medium=_p&amp;utm_campaign=EOY">Everytown</a>. &#8220;It&#8217;s a safety issue.&#8221;
&#8220;A gun is a machine,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;You know, when cars were introduced we had any number of fatalities because we didn&#8217;t have safety regulations. So, we didn&#8217;t have seatbelts and speed limits and airbags; we&#8217;re asking for those same kinds of things with gun-registration, licensing, background checks &#8230; limitations on the number of firearms you can own.&#8221;
It&#8217;s important to highlight that Moore is not talking about ambiguous &#8220;gun safety&#8221; measures, but, rather, gun control measures, such as restricting law-abiding citizens from keeping and bearing the arms they choose.
Actually, here&#8217;s Moore and a whole host of celebrities looking to use the Las Vegas tragedy to push even more gun control efforts:

You see, for the greater good, Empress Moore believes Americans should keep and bear as many types of firearms as she sees fit.
Contrary to Mrs. Moore&#8217;s sanitized talking point, gun control measures are Second Amendment issues. Any declaration that such measures are not Second Amendment issues is seemingly an intentional obfuscation of reality, a deceptive way to push an agenda that runs roughshod over the Constitution.
Perhaps Moore is an ignorant tool of the movement; perhaps she knows exactly what she&#8217;s doing.

Wallace was joined by actress Julianne Moore and John Feinblatt, both of whom belong to &#8220;Everytown for Gun Safety,&#8221; an organization pushing &#8220;gun control&#8221; led by former New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg.
Drawing on New York Times columnist Bret Stephens&#8217; <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/print/conservative-ny-times-columnist-calls-for-repealing-2nd-amendment-after-vegas/">call for repeal</a> of the Second Amendment, Wallace described the Constitution&#8217;s recognition of the right to keep and bear arms as anachronistic and relating to defense against non-existent foreign threats:

You know, I mentioned to you two that a conservative wrote a piece last week that got a lot of attention about maybe opening up the conversation about the Second Amendment; his name&#8217;s Bret Stephens, and he said the intellectually honest way to have this debate is to say that this isn&#8217;t what was intended; that we are an armed population. 
This was a right to bear arms against foreign militias.

‘FOREIGN MILITIAS’: MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace Tries And Fails To Explain Purpose Of 2nd Amendment

Mike Bloomberg and <a href="https://www.mikebloomberg.com/news/new-gun-violence-prevention-group-everytown-for-gun-safety-unites-mayors-moms-and-millions-of-americans/">his group</a> Everytown for Gun Safety spent over $3 million on a Nevada ballot initiative called Question 1, which expanded background checks to include private sales and transfers. They succeeded in getting the bill passed, but now Nevada&#8217;s Attorney General Adam Laxalt has ruled that Nevadans can ignore the law, since it would force them to perform an impossible task
As Jennifer Van Laar at RedState <a href="http://www.redstate.com/jenvanlaar/2017/01/02/opinion-nevada-ag-spanks-bloombergs-background-check-initiative/">explained</a>, the way the proposed law was written makes it impossible to enforce. She quoted a press release from <a href="https://www.firearmspolicy.org/press-releases/fpc-applauds-nevada-attorney-general-for-pro-gun-legal-opinion-on-enforceability-of-question-1-gun-control-scheme/">Firearms Policy Coalition</a>:

Question 1 mandated that all private firearm transfers be cleared directly through the federal National Instant Criminal Background Check System (&#8220;NICS&#8221;) rather than Nevada&#8217;s existing &#8220;point of contact&#8221; background check system, which queries state and federal databases (including NICS).

Although firearm sales through licensed dealers would remain unaffected by the law, a private sale or transfer would require the use of a federal firearms licensee (FFL) as an intermediary, who would then contact the NICS system. The wording of the law prompted James Wright, Director of the Nevada Department of Public Safety to ask Laxalt, &#8220;Does the Background Check Act (&#8220;Act&#8221;) allow for the Nevada &#8220;Point of Contact&#8221; program to perform background checks for private-party sales or transfers of firearms conducted by federal firearms licensees? Second, if the Department is legally authorized to perform these checks, may it charge fees for doing so?&#8221;
Laxalt answered that according to the law, the Nevada DPS lacked the authority to perform the checks, the law &#8220;unambiguously&#8221; required the licensed dealers used in the transaction to perform the check directly through the FBI&#8217;s NICS system.
Uh-oh. The FBI weighed in, telling the Nevada DPS on December 19, 2016 that they would not perform checks requested directly by Nevada dealers, writing, &#8220;The recent passage of the Nevada legislation regarding background checks for private sales cannot dictate how federal resources are applied,&#8221; and adding that the checks were the&#8230; &#8220;&#8230;responsibility of Nevada to be conducted as any other background check for firearms, through the Nevada DPS as the POC.&#8221;
Laxalt looked at the letter, and offered his take on the matter, wittily remarking, &#8220;&#8230;[U]nder longstanding legal principles Nevadans are not required to perform the impossible, and are therefore excused from compliance with the Act&#8217;s background check requirement unless and until the FBI changes its position set forth in its December 14, 2016 letter.&#8221;

Hamill seems to believe that the root problem of gun violence rests on the shoulders of politicians who haven&#8217;t created enough laws against criminal activity as well as forbidding law-abiding citizens from having access to guns.

Joining MSNBC&#8217;s Chuck Todd for an interview that aired on Sunday, Spike Lee openly stated that his new film Chi-Raq is primarily pushing a message to further erode Second Amendment protections of the right to keep and bear and arms. Lee also praised the neo-Marxist Black Lives Matter movement, exaggerated &#8220;gun violence&#8221; statistics, and hyped the prevalence of sexual predation on college and university campuses. He did so while adorned with the red, black, and green colors of Pan-Africanist black racial nationalist movements.
&#8220;I want people to think about guns, that&#8217;s the takeaway from this film,&#8221; Lee said, responding to a question from Todd inquiring about the film&#8217;s political messaging.
&#8220;Chicago is America&#8217;s biggest segregated city. I think that has to do a lot with it, and people are just thrown to one side of town and left to their own device,&#8221; said Lee, seemingly alluding to and endorsing President Barack Obama&#8217;s <a href="http://thehill.com/regulation/244620-obamas-bid-to-diversify-wealthy-neighborhoods">designs</a> of government-mandated <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/07/08/obama-administration-to-unveil-major-new-rules-targeting-segregation-across-u-s/">racial &#8220;diversification&#8221;</a> of wealthy neighborhoods. The are &#8220;two different Chicagos,&#8221; Lee added, channeling John Edwards&#8217;s &#8220;Two Americas&#8221; paradigm. In 2014, Lee <a href="http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2014/02/spike-lee-amazing-rant-against-gentrification.html">derided</a> racial &#8220;diversification&#8221; of certain neighborhoods in New York City, where gentrification came along with higher numbers of whites moving in.
Asking Lee to opine on Chicago&#8217;s politics as they relate to the city&#8217;s problems with criminal violence, Todd described Jesse Jackson and his Rainbow Coalition as part of the city&#8217;s &#8220;robust African-American leadership.&#8221; Little mention was made of the city&#8217;s decades of being under Democratic local control, currently headed by Obama&#8217;s former Chief of Staff and Clinton-insider Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Although the overwhelming majority of black victims of homicide are murdered by other blacks, Lee implied otherwise. &#8220;It&#8217;s not always policeman. It wasn&#8217;t a (white) cop that executed <a href="http://abc7chicago.com/news/police-9-year-old-was-targeted-lured-into-shooting-death/1069343/">Tyshawn Lee</a>,&#8221; said Lee, acknowledging that not all black victims of homicide are murdered by white supremacist police officers. &#8220;The complexion or color of the trigger finger doesn&#8217;t matter to me,&#8221; added Lee.
Lee commended <a href="http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/06/rev-michael-pfleger-nra-will-pay-for-the-murder-of-chicago-children/">left-wing</a> Roman Catholic priest and political agitator <a href="http://abc7chicago.com/news/chicago-activists-sue-3-suburbs-over-gun-sales/832880/">Michael Pfleger</a>. A Chicago-based operative who campaigns against the Second Amendment, Pfleger has coordinated political events with Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Jeremiah Wright. Lee described Pfleger as the film&#8217;s &#8220;spiritual adviser.&#8221;
On the Black Lives Matter movement, Lee said, &#8220;They&#8217;re doing a great job.&#8221;
Repeating the <a href="http://everytownresearch.org/gun-violence-by-the-numbers/">misleading statistic</a> pushed by the left-wing &#8220;gun control&#8221; political project of billionaire Democrat Michael Bloomberg, Lee lamented that 88 Americans per day were killed by &#8220;gun violence.&#8221; What Lee and Everytown For Gun Safety omit is the share of these deaths attributable to suicide and justifiable homicide &#8211; about half.
Proving the political-media-celebrity exploitation of Michael Brown&#8217;s death to push left-wing narratives, Lee recalled that he had brought his son to Brown&#8217;s funeral. He secured front row seats for the event, bringing his star power to the faux martyr.
&#8220;We&#8217;re the most violent country on the planet,&#8221; Lee concluded, rhetorically asking Todd if he could possibly disagree.
&#8220;Not right now,&#8221; Todd replied, accepting the premise that America is the world&#8217;s most violent country. 
Todd presents himself as an objective journalist in his role as moderator of MSNBC&#8217;s flagship Sunday show.

That&#8217;s the new pitch from NBA stars Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Joakim Noah and Carmelo Anthony, all of whom are now cutting ads for Everytown, an anti-gun group that sprang up in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting. The commercials will run during NBA games on Christmas, and they call for mandatory background checks and closing the misnamed &#8220;gun show loophole.&#8221; The only tie-in to basketball from the group comes via Richard Martinez, whose son died at age 20 and apparently loved hoops.
&#8220;He would be thrilled that these players are doing this,&#8221; said Martinez. &#8220;He was a great fan.&#8221;
In Steph Curry&#8217;s ad, the superstar says, &#8220;I heard about a shooting involving a 3-year-old girl over the summer. My daughter Riley is that age.&#8221; Chris Paul says, &#8220;My parents always used to say a bullet doesn&#8217;t have a name.&#8221; Carmelo Anthony says, &#8220;The gun should never be an option.&#8221; Joakim Noah says, &#8220;We can all make a difference.&#8221; Then a group of people say, all together on split screen, &#8220;In the Untied States, 88 people die of gun violence every day.&#8221;
The caption flashes: &#8220;A message from the NBA and its players.&#8221;
Really? All of its players? Including the ones with armed security, and the ones who own guns?
It is worth noting that if the players wanted to actually push something worthwhile, they could push black viewers not to shoot each other. Statistics show that young black men are significantly more likely to be victims and perpetrators of gun violence than others &#8211; according to the Centers for Disease Control, young black men aged 20-24 are four times more likely to be shot and killed than to die in a car accident. As <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/bw/articles/2014-08-20/the-stark-statistics-on-young-black-men-and-gun-violence">Bloomberg explains</a>:

A young black man is nearly five times more likely to be killed by a gun than a young white man and 13 times more than an Asian American man. These numbers, dramatic as they are, actually understate the problem. If a black person is killed by a gun, it is judged a homicide 82 percent of the time. For the broad population, most gun deaths are ruled accidental or the result of suicide; only 34 percent of gun deaths are attributed to murder.

If young black people are more likely to die in gun violence and perpetrate gun violence, and if young black people constitute a disproportionate share of the NBA audience, NBA players might be better off telling NBA viewers not to participate in gun violence. <a href="http://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insights/news/2015/hoop-dreams-multicultural-diversity-in-nba-viewership.html">According to Nielsen</a>, black viewers of the NBA have increased their watch-time 63 percent from 2003-2004 to 2013-2014. Black viewers spent far more time than other viewers watching the NBA &#8211; as of the 2013-2013 season, they watched an average of 844 minutes per season, compared with 290 for white viewers. The NBA fan base is also disproportionately young. Black viewers aged 18-34 averaged 884 minutes of NBA watching that season, compared with 392 minutes for white viewers of the same age group.
If you want to fight gun violence, this would be a great audience to pitch.

For that matter, it might be worthwhile to push the message of the value of a two-parent family. Steph Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, with both his parents in the home &#8211; his father, Dell, played in the NBA for the Hornets. Joakim Noah was born to a world-ranked tennis player and Miss Sweden 1978. He spent most of his childhood in Paris, and then return to play for the United Nations international School, as well as Poly Prep Country Day School and Lawrenceville School. Chris Paul also grew up in a two-parent family, and was coached by his father throughout his youth. He worked summers at a gas station owned by his grandfather. He attended West Forsyth High School in North Carolina, a highly-acclaimed public school. Only Anthony grew up in dire circumstances &#8211; his father died when Anthony was two, and Anthony grew up in the Red Hook projects in New York, where according to a friend, he saw everything &#8220;from drugs, to killings, to anything you can name.&#8221;
Wouldn&#8217;t it be better to talk about how Curry, Noah, and Paul all had a better shot at avoiding gun violence than Anthony for a reason?
But no. Instead, Everytown and the NBA will aim to make everyone feel good, instead of making a difference.

NBA Players Will Push Gun Control On Christmas. They Could Do Something Far More Useful Instead.

Actress Julianne Moore <a href="http://www.people.com/article/julianne-moore-launches-gun-saftey-campaign">announced</a> a new gun control campaign, despite the fact that she has used guns numerous times in movies.
Moore, with the help of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg&#8217;s <a href="http://www.nationalreview.com/article/377149/terminal-vagueness-everytown-charles-c-w-cooke">Everytown for Gun Safety</a>, is launching the &#8220;Everytown Creative Council&#8221; to lobby for taking away gun rights.
&#8220;As actors, we are citizens first so we believe in the Constitution and the Second Amendment,&#8221; Moore <a href="http://www.people.com/article/julianne-moore-launches-gun-saftey-campaign">told</a> People magazine. &#8220;But 92 percent of the people in the United States are in favor of background checks, too, so I don&#8217;t feel like I&#8217;m in the minority. I definitely feel like I&#8217;m in the majority here.&#8221; 
Moore then made a ridiculous comparison between car safety laws and gun control.
&#8220;For cars, you have to have training and you have to have a license, and you wear seat belts and we have airbags and we have all of these things in place that have reduced fatalities unbelievably,&#8221; Moore said. &#8220;And it was a totally unregulated industry at first. I feel like something that is very sensible and straight forward can be done also with guns.&#8221;

If Moore really wants to promote gun control, she should start by stopping the use of guns in her own movies. But, of course, that wouldn&#8217;t make for good theater, right?
