Love him or hate him, we can’t ignore that when it comes to parenting, Donald Trump seems to be a pretty good father. The proof is evident in the behavior of his kids. Certainly, kids who have an ax to grind don’t act like his kids do.
First, adult sons and daughters who harbor deep anger toward a parent never speak highly of him or her, regardless of how famous they are. In fact, fame can be an ideal opportunity for angry kids to humiliate their parents. Trump’s older kids, Eric, Ivanka, and Donald Jr. don’t behave this way. In fact, they have no reason to publicly support their father so enthusiastically other than the belief that their father is a good and capable man. Sure, they may want to applaud him to further their own careers, but they don’t need to do this. They are each highly successful on their own. If they had lukewarm sentiments about their dad, they would at least fade into the background. But they haven’t. They have taken advantage of large public platforms to convince us that he has strong character and extraordinarily strong abilities to improve America. They wouldn’t do this if they believed that his intentions were other than altruistic. The fact that they have successfully convinced millions of Americans that he has what it takes to lead our country can only come from sincere sentiments.
Second, both his daughter-in-law and son-in-law are two of his most ardent supporters. How many in-laws boast about their father-in-law not only privately, but also publicly? Lara has no motive to boast other than genuine admiration and Jared could certainly stay silent.
When it comes to his business life, Trump puts his grown kids front and center. Fathers who want to dominate the spotlight, don’t do this. They own the public space and keep their adult kids in the background, in part, to avoid the risk that their kids will make derogatory statements about them. Trump takes the risk because he is confident they won’t humiliate or criticize him. He knows they will always support him.
When Trump’s older kids were young, he protected them from the paparazzi. He worked to keep his kids out of the spotlight until they wanted to jump into it of their own volition. His first three kids went away to school so that the press would leave them alone. Tiffany and Barron now enjoy that same privacy so they too can live their own lives. The president-elect could easily push all of them into the spotlight to make himself look like a good father, but he doesn’t. Eric, Ivanka, and Donald Jr., along with Lara Trump, put themselves in the public and political arenas to bolster President-elect Trump’s career.
When it comes to raising his family, Trump appears to have nothing to hide. Most fathers would be afraid to give their kids the freedom to say what they want about their dad. Who among us would have the confidence to give our kids such a large media presence to say whatever they want about us? Not me. Only a father who feels confident about the job he has done would do so.
Many divorced couples carry resentment and anger after their breakup with their spouse and psychologists know how damaging the animosity can be on the couple’s kids. Donald has kept his kids from a lot of pain by embracing friendships with his two ex-wives. And while Ivana Trump passed away in 2022, we still see photos of Marla Maples, Melania, and Donald standing together smiling for the camera at Tiffany Trump’s wedding.
The peculiar thing about the president-elect’s life is that he seems to have successfully split himself into two men: the father and the political genius. In his former role, he appears to have worked hard at having close relationships with his kids. To the best of his ability, he has tried to spend as much time as possible with them. This is no easy task when you are running a multi-million-dollar real estate empire and then while being president. Succeeding at both takes impossible time and energy and yet, with these challenges, he has somehow stayed close with his kids.

The other side of Trump is hard to applaud. He has been accused of multiple incidents of sexual harassment and harmful sexual behavior toward women. He has admitted to being a poor husband at times, and his numerous public affairs with women confirm this. Good husbands don’t cheat on their wives or sexually harass other women. The peculiar part is that his five kids know this and still publicly support and encourage him. This occurs only because, in some genuinely incredible feat, Trump has found a way to communicate to his kids that being their father is a much higher priority than even being a husband, businessman, or politician. His life as a father is completely separate from his work life, and his kids must feel this. If they refused to forgive or ignore his deep flaws they would take every opportunity to denounce him on the worldwide stage.
Donald Trump is a complex man. He is both a good man and a villain. This is hard for people to understand. The truth is, however, that we are all complex beings. Like him, we are not simply good or evil, kind or cruel. We are both. Certainly, as a man, Trump has made poor decisions, and offended many people to the point where they despise him. But clearly, he has done something well when it comes to his kids. And their behavior is a testimony to his personal success as a father.

The leaders of President-elect <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a>’s transition team announced Wednesday that they would be spending the next few weeks preparing to staff the next administration. 
Linda McMahon, former head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), and businessman Howard Lutnick released a <a href="https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/3222075/trump-transition-team-statement-election-victory-transition-process/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> detailing the transition team&#8217;s next steps after Trump&#8217;s landslide win. As of Thursday morning, Trump was projected to win the popular vote and 312 electoral votes, including a sweep of the battleground states. 
“Since the formation of President Trump’s transition organization and our announcement as Co-Chairs in August, we have been preparing for President Trump’s next administration,” McMahon and Lutnick said. “In the days and weeks ahead, President Trump will be selecting personnel to serve our nation under his leadership and enact policies that make the life of Americans affordable, safe, and secure.”
The two added that they would be presenting Trump with a “wide array of experts” to choose from to add to his administration. 
“As he chooses the best people to join his team and best policies to pursue, his transition team will ensure the implementation of President Trump’s common sense agenda starting on Day 1,” the joint statement said.
McMahon, the wife of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, led the SBA during Trump’s first term in office and has recently been in charge of the America First Policy Institute, a pro-Trump think tank. Lutnick, the billionaire head of financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald, was a prominent donor to Trump.

Other transition team members include Vice President-elect JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 
Trump Jr. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-reveals-who-will-lead-his-transition-team-if-he-wins" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously said</a> he hoped to keep bad-faith actors from joining the administration. 
“I want to block the liars. I want to block the guys that are, you know, pretending they’re with you. I just want to block the bad actors. I just want to be a block. That’s it,” he said at the Republican National Convention in July. 
Trump is scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden in the coming days.
“President Trump looks forward to the meeting, which will take place shortly, and very much appreciated the call,” Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung said after Biden called to congratulate Trump. 
Biden is expected to speak Thursday morning from the White House for the first time since Tuesday’s election.

Former President Donald Trump has added former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who just last Friday suspended his campaign in key swing states to support Trump — to his transition team.
According to a Tuesday <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/27/us/politics/trump-transition-rfk-tulsi-gabbard.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from The New York Times, Gabbard and Kennedy will join Trump&#8217;s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, as well as Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as &#8220;honorary co-chairs&#8221; of his transition team, the group that will aid in the former president&#8217;s efforts to fill out his new administration if he wins re-election in November.
&#8220;I’ve been asked to go on the transition team, you know, and to help pick the people who will be running the government,&#8221; Kennedy confirmed the decision during an interview that aired on Monday.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump revealed on Friday that two major donors and two of his sons will lead his transition team if he wins a second term in the White House.
Trump tapped former Small Business Administration (SBA) head Linda McMahon and businessman Howard Lutnick to lead the transition team. Trump&#8217;s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), and his sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, will serve as &#8220;honorary chairs&#8221; of the team, The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4830976-trump-transition-team-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“The 2024 GOP Platform to Make America Great Again is a forward-looking agenda that will deliver safety, prosperity and freedom for the American people. My administration will deliver on these bold promises,” Trump said in a statement. “We will restore strength, competence and common sense to the Oval Office. I have absolute confidence the Trump-Vance Administration will be ready to govern effectively on Day One.”
McMahon, the wife of former WWE CEO Vince McMahon, led the SBA during Trump&#8217;s first term in office and has recently been in charge of the pro-Trump think tank America First Policy Institute. The younger Trump explained his position during an <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6358754546112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> on Fox News as Cheatle faces a crisis of confidence in her leadership following the security failure at the campaign event in Pennsylvania.
&#8220;The director of the Secret Service should resign in absolute disgrace,&#8221; Eric Trump told &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; anchor Maria Bartiromo.
Eric Trump accused Cheatle of lying to the America people and suggested her boss, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, is trying to obstruct a congressional inquiry into the attack.
One particular claim Eric Trump dismissed was Cheatle&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/homeland-security-inspector-general-investigating-secret-service-over-trump-rally-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">assertion</a> that the Secret Service did not place a unit on the rooftop where the shooter opened fire because it was sloped.
Emphasizing how relatively flat the roof seems to be, he said, &#8220;If there was any less grade on that roof, you would have birdbaths on the top of it, right?&#8221;
He added, &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to hear this, that the Secret Service sniper — and I know many of them, and they are the most in-shape, phenomenal people &#8230; couldn&#8217;t navigate that roof.&#8221;

Questions <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/14/politics/secret-service-faces-serious-questions-about-security-footprint-and-rooftop-access-at-trump-event/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have been raised</a> about how a shooter, identified as a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man named Thomas Matthew Crooks, managed to get onto a nearby rooftop and begin shooting.
President Trump survived, but a bullet ripped through his right year. One rally-goer was killed and two others were injured. The shooter was killed by a Secret Service sniper.
Multipole investigations are underway, including the wide-ranging inquiry in the GOP-led House, which has a hearing with Cheatle scheduled for Monday.
A lack of accountability following the shooting and letting Cheatle remain in her job &#8220;shows how disgraceful and inept&#8221; the Biden administration is, Eric Trump said.
&#8220;She should be out of a job,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They should put somebody in there that&#8217;s competent. The reality is, I don&#8217;t care. This is not a political issue. There&#8217;s no politics involved in this issue.&#8221;
Eric Trump said a former president getting shot is a &#8220;sign to the entire world of the weakness of America when something like this happens, and, God forbid, worse happened.&#8221;
Despite his criticism of Cheatle, Eric Trump made room to praise the Secret Service agents who rushed in to protect his father, saying they &#8220;did their job, and they did it incredibly well.&#8221;

Eric Trump watched the assassination attempt on his father&#8217;s life on live television with his wife and children, he said Monday.
Speaking to NBC at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJK87liHVGM" target="_blank" rel="noopener">described</a> watching the horrific event unfold in real-time.
&#8220;Two days ago I was on the couch with my children watching my father almost get assassinated on national TV,&#8221; Trump said.
&#8220;It&#8217;s always good to remember that these are human beings on both sides,&#8221; NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie said.
Trump has two small children, Luke, 6, and Carolina, 4, whom he shares with his wife, Lara Trump, who co-chairs the Republican National Committee.
Former President Donald Trump narrowly missed being killed by a bullet to the head at Saturday’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The bullet grazed the former president’s right ear, and he ducked behind a podium before being whisked away by Secret Service agents. He raised his fist and shouted, “Fight!” as he exited the stage.
Law enforcement returned fire immediately, killing the shooter. At least one rallygoer was killed, and two others were injured.
The rally was broadcast live on several television networks.
&#8220;Were you watching live when this happened? Did you see that unfold live or did somebody call you and say go turn on the television?&#8221; Guthrie asked Trump.
&#8220;No, I saw it live,&#8221; Trump responded. &#8220;I was there with Lara, I was there with my children, and you know, I clearly understand the sound of a bullet, and I heard the shots, and my eyes went right up to the TV and then just couldn&#8217;t believe what I was seeing.&#8221;
&#8220;You instantly see blood, you instantly see somebody on the ground, you don&#8217;t know if they were hit multiple times, and you&#8217;re just praying to God that they stand up,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;And when he got up and he started pumping his fist in the air, saying &#8216;Fight, fight, fight,&#8217; even though he had blood all over his face, at least we knew he was mobile at that point, and that gave you a little bit of hope that he was going to be okay.&#8221;
&#8220;But those are not fun moments,&#8221; Trump added. &#8220;It gives a whole different perspective to life and frankly the whole political narrative among the media and among people and among politics that it&#8217;s got to get toned down.&#8221;
Trump said he spoke to his father 45 minutes after the shooting.
&#8220;It was too close. This cannot happen in America. It&#8217;s just absolutely crazy,&#8221; he said.
Trump&#8217;s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., <a href="https://x.com/MaryMargOlohan/status/1813029477871411206" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> The Daily Signal that he initially got a call telling him, &#8220;Your father&#8217;s been shot&#8221; with no other details. He spoke to his father about 90 minutes later, and in the meantime he was &#8220;just trying to get all my kids together.&#8221;
Guthrie also asked Eric Trump about his father&#8217;s decision to scrap his original nomination acceptance speech after the shooting. The former president <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/07/14/us-news/grateful-defiant-trump-recounts-surreal-assassination-attempt-at-rally-im-supposed-to-be-dead/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> his planned speech would have attacked the Biden administration, but his new speech is “a chance to bring the whole country, even the whole world, together.&#8221;
&#8220;I was there when he did that,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;His speech is beautiful, it&#8217;s inspirational, it&#8217;s forward-looking for this country. It&#8217;s incredibly positive. It&#8217;s exactly what we need right now.&#8221;
&#8220;As a son it&#8217;s been an emotional rollercoaster, but I&#8217;m just proud of the man. I love the guy to death. He&#8217;s the greatest father I could have ever imagined,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;His fortitude, his backbone, he&#8217;s a tremendous human being and I&#8217;m incredibly proud of him.&#8221;

Trump got shot at the rally in Pennsylvania and Secret Service agents rushed in to protect him. The former president left the rally with a bloody ear. Trump&#8217;s youngest child, Barron Trump, was reportedly with his father at the rally when the shots were fired.
The former president himself eventually released a statement on Truth Social.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” the former president <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-releases-statement-after-assassination-attempt-says-he-was-shot-in-the-ear" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country.”
“Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” Trump continued. “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.&#8221;

New York Attorney General <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/letitia-james" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Letitia James</a> filed a civil lawsuit against former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> and three of his children on Wednesday alleging business fraud.
James has led an investigation into Trump and his business for more than three years, a probe the former president has dismissed as a political witch hunt. When James deposed Trump last month as part of the investigation, the former president pleaded his Fifth Amendment rights hundreds of times.
The lawsuit targets the president, his business, and many associates. In addition to the former president, the lawsuit targets Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, Allen Weisselberg, Jeffrey McConney, The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust, The Trump Organization, Inc., and others, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/21/politics/trump-new-york-attorney-general-letitia-james-fraud-lawsuit/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a>.
James alleges that Trump, with help from his three eldest children and others, “used fraudulent and misleading asset valuations over 200 times in 10 years on his annual financial statements,” she said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/newyorkstateag/status/1572611509351772165" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> on social media after announcing her suit.
The lawsuit seeks to punish the targets with a $250 million penalty and a ban on operating any businesses in New York. James also seeks to ban Trump and the Trump organization from purchasing any real estate in New York for the next five years. The New York attorney general is also referring her investigation into Trump to the Department of Justice for criminal charges.
One of the allegations in the lawsuit claims that Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Florida golf resort and his current residence, was valued at $739 million. The resort’s valuation was about ten times greater than what it should have been valued at: roughly $75 million. The higher valuation was “based on the false premise that it was unrestricted property and could be developed for residential use even though Mr. Trump himself signed deeds donating his residential development rights and sharply restricting changes to the property,” the lawsuit says according to <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/US/york-ag-letitia-james-files-250m-lawsuit-trump/story?id=90240332&amp;cid=social_twitter_abcn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ABC News</a>.
James’s investigation into Trump’s property valuations began shortly after she assumed office in January 2019. At the time, James had campaigned on investigating Trump and his business dealings.
“I’m running for attorney general because I will never be afraid to challenge this illegitimate president when our fundamental rights are at stake,” she <a href="https://nowthisnews.com/videos/her/why-letitia-james-wants-to-take-on-donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> in 2018.
Trump has attacked James investigation into his business and family as cynical attempt to raise James’s stature and take down Trump for political reasons. Eric Trump reiterated his father’s attacks on James Wednesday after her lawsuit announcement, tweeting out a video of James past statements about the former president, often referring to him as “illegitimate.”
