President-elect Donald Trump signaled on Monday that he will quickly reverse President Joe Biden&#8217;s &#8216;ridiculous&#8217; policy moves from his final days in office.
Trump made the remarks during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt while talking about Biden&#8217;s decision this week to ban new oil and gas leasing across 625 million acres of U.S. ocean.
&#8220;It’s ridiculous. I’ll unban it immediately. I will unban it. I have the right to unban it immediately,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;What’s he doing? Why is he doing it?&#8221;
&#8220;We have oil and gas at a level that nobody else has. And we’re going to take advantage of it,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;And when I see somebody saying he’s going to ban 625 million acres, he doesn’t know what that is. He doesn’t even know what 625 million acres would look like, and we can’t let that happen to our country. It’s our greatest, it’s really our greatest economic asset. And we’re not going to let that happen to our country. We’re going to be great again.&#8221;
Trump said that Biden was greatly diminished, both politically and mentally, from the man that he used to be from 25 years ago.
&#8220;You’re giving up the biggest assets that we have,&#8221; Trump said in calling out Biden&#8217;s insanity. &#8220;I mean, all of that, if you ever look at it on a map, what 625 million acres is, he’s giving this all up? What is he doing?&#8221;
&#8220;The good news is I can change it immediately,&#8221; Trump said. &#8220;It’ll be changed on Day One. I can change it immediately. Now, they’ll do everything they can to make it as difficult as possible. You know, they talk about a transition. They’re always saying oh, no, we want to have a smooth transition from party to party, for, you know, of government. Well, they’re making it really difficult.&#8221;

Michigan state officials plan to clear 420 acres from a state forest to build a new solar farm in the name of environmentalism.
A “top state official” <a href="https://www.mlive.com/environment/2025/01/michigan-plans-to-clear-400-acres-of-state-forest-near-gaylord-for-solar-farm.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confirmed</a> to MLive that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) planned to bulldoze a large swath of forestland to build a solar farm as part of a lease agreement.
The outlet noted that the DNR “recently assessed 1,200 acres of public trust land in Otsego County near a major power transmission line to decide whether it was suitable for solar arrays” and decided to lease 35% of the land to go with other solar projects that are already being developed.
The sudden desire to destroy trees for solar panels comes as the state risks failing to meet its own climate goal of 100% “clean” energy by 2040. If it doesn’t increase its development of so-called renewable energy, it won’t meet its arbitrary timeframe.
The 420 acres about to be bulldozed are part of 4,000 acres of public land that will be flattened to try and meet the 2040 deadline.
If Michigan instead committed to nuclear power, it could meet its goal much quicker and by using much less land. Chris Martz, a meteorology student who regularly tackles climate change and energy myths, published a chart showing nuclear power produces far more power on less land than solar and wind. For example, 640 acres (about one square mile) for a nuclear power plant would produce 1,000 megawatts of power and can power just over 775,000 homes. Getting the same power from solar panels would require 5,000-7,000 acres of land and only power 193,523 homes. Onshore wind power is even less efficient.
Dr. Judith Curry, one of the most prominent atmospheric scientists who debunks climate myths, responded to Martz’s chart by saying, “Land use requirements (among other thing [sic]) will seriously constrain the penetration of wind and solar into the grid, and this analysis doesn&#8217;t include the additional land requirements for transmission lines.”

Michigan’s decision to destroy land for more solar panels also comes at a time when climate alarmism is seeing a decline after decades of dire predictions have failed to come true.

In the final days of his term, President Joe Biden is set to ban new offshore oil and gas developments in some areas of the U.S. coast, a move that would hinder President-elect Donald Trump&#8217;s push for more energy production.
Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-01-02/biden-to-block-more-offshore-oil-drilling-before-trump-arrives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Thursday that Biden is expected to issue an executive order &#8220;within days&#8221; that would prevent the sale of drilling rights in certain areas of the outer continental shelf. Biden&#8217;s move to further ban offshore drilling would be based on a <a href="https://www.boem.gov/oil-gas-energy/leasing/ocs-lands-act-history" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1953 law</a> that gives the president the power to permanently stop offshore oil drilling in U.S. waters without explicitly giving presidents the power to revoke oil drilling bans enacted by their predecessors, according to Bloomberg.
Biden has been pressured by Democrats and left-wing environmentalists to ban more offshore drilling before he leaves office and Trump takes over on January 20. In 2023, Biden <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-slammed-after-admin-cuts-new-offshore-oil-leases-to-lowest-levels-ever" target="_blank" rel="noopener">severely cut back</a> on how many spots the government leases to oil companies in the Gulf of Mexico, allowing “a maximum of three potential oil and gas lease sales – the fewest oil and gas lease sales in history – in the Gulf of Mexico Program Area scheduled in 2025, 2027 and 2029,” according to the Department of the Interior (DOI).
Biden and his administration officials reportedly intensified efforts to ban more oil and gas drilling after Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in November. Earlier this week, the DOI <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-moves-to-lock-up-miles-of-nevada-land-under-environmental-rules" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> a slate of environmental rules for Nevada’s Ruby Mountains, including banning energy development along a large portion of the range for the next 20 years. The Biden administration also purchased a 640-acre, equivalent to a square mile, parcel of land from Wyoming within the Grand Teton National Park. The purchase also came with permanent environmental bans over the piece of land.
During the 2024 campaign, Trump promised to revamp American energy production, repeatedly saying that under his administration, the U.S. would &#8220;<a href="https://x.com/WatcherGuru/status/1824240746964365682" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drill, baby, drill</a>.&#8221; In September, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-addressing-economic-woes-begins-with-one-issue" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> supporters in Flint, Michigan, that he would seek to cut Americans&#8217; energy costs by 50%, arguing that lowering energy bills is the key to tackling economic hardships.
“We have to start always with energy,” Trump said. “I don’t want to be boring about it, but there’s no bigger subject that covers everything. If you make donuts, if you make cars, whatever you make, energy is a big deal.”
“And it’s my ambition to get your energy bill within 12 months down 50%,” he added. “If I can do that, we’ve done a hell of a job … [and] interest rates are going to follow.”

Shyam Sankar, chief technology officer of Palantir, said during an interview this week that the U.S. needs to produce the world&#8217;s first <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nuclear-power" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nuclear-powered</a> cargo ship.
Sankar made the remarks during a talk with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, who said that Sankar was &#8220;widely tipped to be part of President-elect Trump’s incoming senior leadership at DOD.&#8221;
He said that to continue having the U.S. be the world&#8217;s dominant naval power means that the U.S. also needs to remain the world&#8217;s dominant commercial shipping power.
&#8220;We still have a massive asymmetric advantage with our nuclear reactors,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think we should build the first commercial nuclear-powered cargo ship fleet in the world that are American-flagged, American-made, leveraging our military’s greatest technology, driving the lowest cost of shipping in the world, bringing down inflation and the input costs, and use that to bootstrap and rebuild a massive bolus of investment into shipyards.&#8221;

“Our adversaries do not have our moral compunction,” he said. “If it is even, they will take advantage of our niceness, our kindness, our desire to be at home in Nebraska and New Hampshire or wherever we live, in our peaceful environments.”
“They need to wake up scared, and go to bed scared, and if you give that to the American people, the American people will go back and say — and honestly, I probably shouldn’t say this, this is why I thought the Democrats were going to lose the election, and why they did, because people want to live in peace,” he continued. “They want to go home. They do not want to hear your woke pagan ideology. They want to know they’re safe. And safe means the other person is scared. That’s how you make someone safe.”
“The average American person understands this,” he concluded. “Unfortunately, many of the intellectually captured institutions, funneled and intellectually owned by the Berkeley faculty, do not. The day after Donald Trump was confirmed the winner of the 2024 presidential election, the U.S. stock market took off like one of Elon Musk’s rockets. Major stock indices posted gains for the day ranging from 2.5% (S&amp;P 500) to 6% (Russell 2000). The stock market is forward-looking, a mechanism for discounting expected future cash flows into present valuations of companies’ shares.
Clearly the market applauds the election results and is anticipating a return to strong growth and huge investment returns in the second Trump Administration.
Is the hype warranted, or is this just another Wall Street bout of irrational exuberance? Let’s take a look under the hood of the Trump economic program and assess what Trumponomics has in store for the U.S. economy in 2025 and beyond.
<h3>Supply-Side Economics </h3>
To appreciate Trump’s economic policy program, we need a basic understanding of supply-side economics. In turn, understanding supply-side economics requires a working knowledge of that essential tool of economic analysis, the supply and demand model.
As all first-year econ students know, market “equilibrium” occurs at the intersection of the demand and supply curves. Demand represents the quantity of any product consumers will buy at each possible price. Demand will slope down as consumers buy more of a product when its price declines.
The level of the demand curve will shift up or down based on a number of factors — changes in the number of consumers, shifts in buyers’ incomes, preferences, and expectations, or conditions surrounding related products. Demand for pickup trucks, for example, will shift upward after a prolonged drop in gas prices.
Supply, on the other hand, represents the cost of production for different quantities of any given product. Supply typically slopes up when more “factors of production” — workers, tools, equipment — are required to meet the demand. 
As the great economist Thomas Sowell continually <a href="https://ichthyoid.writeas.com/what-is-economics#:~:text=The%20definition%20of%20economics%20is,resources%20which%20have%20alternative%20uses." target="_blank" rel="noopener">reminds us</a>, “Economics is the study of scarce resources which have alternative uses.” To increase production of any one good means pulling resources away from the production of other valuable goods. In a market economy, these resources must be “bid up” in price to give their owners sufficient incentive to redeploy them to an alternative productive use. Hence the supply curve — a.k.a. the cost curve — slopes up for most products in the short run. The level of the supply curve is based primarily on factors that alter any business’ costs of production.
When it comes to “cost of production,” economists identify five categories: Technology, taxes, price of inputs, the number of producers and producers’ expectations. If changes in one or more of these factors lead to an increase in costs of production, the supply curve shifts “up and to the left,” and market forces will move the market to a new equilibrium with a higher price and lower quantity produced.
Likewise, if one or more of these factors changes in a way that reduces the costs of production, the supply curve shifts “down and to the right” and the market will move towards a new equilibrium featuring lower prices and larger quantities produced and purchased.

Supply-side economics starts with the simple truth that economic growth and wealth creation ultimately stem from the supply side of markets — the economic situation facing producers of goods and services.
In other words, the recipe for economic growth is to push the supply curve to the right.
When the supply curve for any good or service shifts to the right, the cost of production is reduced, meaning businesses can produce at a lower cost. In a competitive marketplace, lower costs will soon be passed along to consumers in the form of lower prices. Shifting the supply curve to the right leads to a new equilibrium at a lower price and higher quantity of output. When prices fall and quantities rise, we all get richer.
Hence the mantra: the recipe for economic growth is to push supply curves to the right. 
Only by pushing supply curves to the right consistently over time can we increase the production (and thus consumption) of goods and services, improve our standard of living, and achieve economic prosperity. 
So what can government do to push supply curves to the right? Plenty. Donald Trump — the entrepreneur-turned politician — knows this well and is promising supply curve-shifting policies like never before.
Three policy areas in particular are ripe for large “positive supply shocks” and a rapid return of the U.S. economy to a high-growth, low-inflation situation: Energy production, Taxes, and Regulations. 
<h3>Energy Production</h3>
My personal favorite plank of Trump’s supply-side program is summarized in Trump’s refrain, “Drill, baby, drill.” Indeed, President-elect Trump knows that the economy runs on energy, he knows that reducing energy costs will benefit everyone in a direct and obvious way, and he knows that America is sitting on vast amounts of “liquid gold,” as he so charmingly refers to &#8220;America’s yuge oil reserves.&#8221; Trump further understands that government can help or hinder American energy through its stance on regulation, permitting, and taxation of energy production.
Trump has promised a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-commits-to-slashing-energy-prices-by-half">50% reduction in energy costs</a> for Americans by the end of his first year back in office. Elites in both parties probably laugh this off as mere Trumpian rhetorical hype, but it’s economically realistic and very doable.
Here’s why.
The demand for energy products like gasoline is “inelastic,” meaning the quantity people will buy is not very sensitive to changes in price. If the price of gasoline goes up, most of us will keep on buying gas because we have set patterns of commuting for work, school, and the like. We might be able to trim gas spending by cutting some non-essential trips, but it’s difficult to drastically alter consumption, at least in the near term. Consumers, therefore, have to eat the costs and feel the pain of high energy prices in the form of lower real incomes. On the flip side, if energy prices fall, consumers will not ramp up purchases all that much — they’ll mostly just enjoy the cost savings and expand their purchases of other nice things.

We saw this coming out of the recession of 2008, when the perfection of new methods of shale oil production — fracking and directional drilling — led to an explosion of U.S. production.
Oil prices were initially rising along with the economic recovery, but once the production boom set in and inventories expanded, prices eventually tumbled. Oil prices hovered around $100 in the early 2010s, and then collapsed during 2015, all the way down to the $50-$60 range.

The post-Covid recovery saw another run-up in prices — partly based on demand recovery, but partly due to the overall inflation wrought by the terrible combination of <a href="https://aier.org/article/the-fed-is-responsible-for-great-inflations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">loose monetary policy</a> and massively wasteful government spending via stimulus checks and the Inflation Reduction Act. Even with Biden’s unfriendly regulatory environment, U.S. production of crude oil recently hit an all-time high of 13.4 million barrels per day, and U.S. proved reserves of both oil and natural gas are also at all-time highs.
With Trump’s pro-energy policy mix, oil and gas production is likely to once again take off, with the potential to crush prices, as we saw in the early 1980s and again in the 2010-2015 era.

With his cabinet nominations, Donald Trump has shown a serious commitment to “energy dominance.” As governor of the third largest oil and gas state, North Dakota’s Doug Burgum knows the industry well, and as the incoming Secretary of the Interior he will be in a position to greenlight drilling permits on over 500 million acres of federally-managed land — permits that Biden’s cronies either slow-walked or denied outright.
Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy, helped perfect the fracking techniques that vaulted America to the forefront of global energy production. As Energy Secretary, Wright can quickly undo Biden’s moves to hamstring U.S. exports of natural gas.
Lee Zeldin is a former GOP congressman from New York and a strong supporter of American oil and gas. As EPA Administrator, he will be able to mitigate regulations that stifle fossil fuel production and delivery.
Overall, Trump’s picks present a strong and united pro-fossil fuel front. The stage is truly set for an American energy renaissance, the largest piece of Trump’s supply-side economic package.

&#8220;I am thrilled to announce that Chris Wright will be joining my Administration as both United States Secretary of Energy, and Member of the newly formed Council of National Energy,&#8221; Trump said in a statement.
Trump highlighted Wright&#8217;s career as a leading technologist and entrepreneur in the industry before being nominated to the position.

A high-profile clean-energy startup is running short on cash and may fail to obtain a $1 billion government loan promised by the Biden-Harris administration.
Monolith, a company that makes a tire-strengthening material called carbon black and ammonia for fertilizer using a low-emissions process, is running out of the money it needs to expand its facilities, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/energy-oil/a-high-profile-clean-energy-startup-is-running-short-on-cash-e05d28ff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Part of the problem is the rising costs for the company’s planned expansion, which is a key part of the company’s future.
The company is now in danger of running out of cash by the end of the year, according to company documents reviewed by WSJ.
Some existing investors are expected to give Monolith more than $100 million to keep it going, but it needs several hundred million to get the company a $1 billion loan from the Biden-Harris administration.
Of course, the government could still fund the loan even if Monolith doesn’t meet requirements, either in part or under different conditions. And given how Democrats regularly fund green-energy projects, it’s likely Monolith will still get its massive government loan.
Monolith Chief Executive Rob Hanson told WSJ that he expects to start raising the needed cash for the expansion early next year, and a government Loan Programs Office spokeswoman told the outlet that Monolith is making progress on the milestones it needs to obtain the government loan.
The deal to give Monolith a $1 billion government loan was made in December 2021 and was the first commitment from the Energy Department’s Loan Programs Office under Jigar Shah, himself a former clean-energy entrepreneur, the WSJ reported. Shah made a name for himself, working on green energy programs and advocating for solutions to climate change, both major leftist policies that have seen advocates become extremely wealthy without showing meaningful results.

Once Monolith received the government loan deal, it was able to raise more than $300 million the next summer from investors – including TPG and Decarbonization Partners, which is owned by BlackRock and Temasek in Singapore. In total, the company has raised around $725 million in equity.
As WSJ reported, Monolith is facing the same problems as similar companies, including a high-valued battery startup in Europe that has had to cut jobs and halt a factor expansion because people aren’t buying electric cars. The outlet noted that several climate startups have filed for bankruptcy in the past few months.
It’s similar to the green tech boom and failure of former President Barack Obama’s first term when his administration handed out billions to green energy companies that either filed for bankruptcy or didn’t live up to expectations. The most famous example of Obama’s presidency was Solyndra, which received half a billion government loans before <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/solyndra-politics-infused-obama-energy-programs/2011/12/14/gIQA4HllHP_story.html">filing for bankruptcy</a> in 2011.

On Monday night, speaking at the Democratic National Convention, President Joe Biden insisted that as part of his effort, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was installing 500,000 charging stations for electric cars across America.
But recent reports show that <a href="https://www.autoweek.com/news/a60702457/federal-funds-yield-only-8-ev-charging-stations/">fewer than twenty</a> have been put in place so far.
“Remember we were told we couldn’t get anything done,” Biden declared. “We couldn&#8217;t get anything done in the Congress. Well with your support, we passed the most significant climate law in the history of mankind. For $370 billion dollars, cutting carbon emissions in half by 2030, launching a climate corps, similar to AmeriCorps or Peace Corps creating tens of thousands of jobs for young people in the future who are going to make sure this continues.”
“Creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in clean energy for American workers including the IBEW installing 500,000 charging stations all across America,” he claimed.

Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger.”

“The vast majority of chargers added in the US last year were bets by for-profit companies on the future of battery-powered driving,” Bloomberg <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-31/the-us-installed-more-than-1-000-ev-charging-stations-since-summer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> in January.
In contrast to Biden’s supposed effort, Elon Musk’s Tesla has been quite successful in its undertaking; as Reason Magazine <a href="https://reason.com/2024/05/30/7-5-billion-in-government-cash-only-built-8-e-v-chargers-in-2-5-years/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pointed out</a> at the end of May, stating that Musk’s company had a “network of Superchargers” that included “over 57,000 DCFC chargers around the world and generated an estimated $1.74 billion of revenue in 2023 alone. Just in the <a href="https://insideevs.com/news/705972/tesla-supercharging-network-roughly-6000-stations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fourth quarter of 2023</a>, the company built 357 new stations, accounting for 3,783 charging ports. &#8230; Around <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-01-31/the-us-installed-more-than-1-000-ev-charging-stations-since-summer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">two-thirds</a> of all public chargers in the U.S. are manufactured for Teslas.”

The Kamala Harris Campaign recently published an image of her with the text, “we are not going back.” Will Democrats seek to replace her or Tim Walz from the ticket as their numbers start to tank? All it may take is another trip to the grocery store or a fill-up at the pump for reality to set back in for Americans excited about her candidacy. Most Americans would certainly like to “go back” to affordable gas prices, groceries, housing, and electricity.
Regardless of the ticket, any Democratic nominee would likely continue down the same policy path that has wrecked the American economy and — perhaps most importantly — dismantled our energy dominance.
Why does energy matter when everyone is talking about inflation, the border, and global conflicts? Because everything we do depends on access to affordable, reliable energy—and that means our next president’s energy policy will shape the future of America and the world. The Democrats’ vision for expensive, scarce, and government-controlled energy, dependent on the whims of the weather, is as reliable as Obamacare is affordable, and it would spell disaster for our nation.
Kamala Harris’ record on energy is clear. She endorsed California’s cap-and-trade carbon tax, co-sponsored the Green New Deal, and cast the tie-breaking vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, which is, as <a href="https://x.com/dgelles/status/1635301875967983616" target="_blank" rel="noopener">one journalist</a> aptly put it, “the first major climate legislation…EVER!” These are the same policies that have driven California’s energy prices to astronomical levels and have left tens of thousands of people in the dark — literally.
In California last year, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/energy-oil/why-californians-have-some-of-the-highest-power-bills-in-the-u-s-a831b60e" target="_blank" rel="noopener">215,000 people</a> had their power disconnected for inability to pay, and over 40,000 of those households still had not had their services restored by year’s end. For those individuals, residential lease and mortgage terms are violated and homeowners insurance policies are canceled because requirements to keep utilities connected aren’t being met. These 40,000 people are at the highest risk of homelessness, all because they couldn’t afford to pay their energy bills.
This is not just a California story — though the numbers are much higher there, it’s a nationwide crisis unfolding under the Democrats’ watch. In California last year, nearly 27% of Californians missed payments on utility bills — compared to 16% nationwide, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey. The previous year saw <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/utility-power-shutoffs-4-2-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">5 million Americans</a> receive disconnect notices from their utility companies. The pattern is clear: the Democrats’ energy policies, embraced in California, are making it harder for everyday Americans to keep their lights on.
Under the Trump administration, Americans enjoyed the benefits of a robust energy sector. The United States became a net energy exporter for the first time in decades, and <a href="https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2020/10/f79/Natural%20Gas%20Benefits%20Report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">American households saved an average of $2,500 a year</a> on energy costs alone. Today, under the Biden-Harris administration, American families are <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-29/u-s-households-face-5-200-inflation-tax-this-year-chart" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paying $5,200 more per year,</a> thanks to the Biden-Harris policies that have attacked the energy industry and levied higher costs on everything.
Harris’s stance on fracking is particularly troubling for energy-producing states like New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming as significant portions of their energy are produced on federal lands. In 2019, she unequivocally stated, “There is no question I’m in favor of banning fracking. And, starting with what we can do on day one around public lands, right!” In New Mexico, nearly two-thirds of energy production occurs on federal lands, generating over $6 billion in tax revenue. A Harris administration would be a direct threat to this critical industry, leaving millions unemployed and our nation more dependent on foreign oil.

The consequences would be equally dire in states like Pennsylvania, and Ohio where auto production is a key economic driver. A Harris/Walz regime, with its bureaucratic deep state, would continue to unleash attacks against the energy and auto manufactures in these states. Chinese EV battery maker Gotion has already set up shop in Michigan, claiming U.S. federal and state tax subsidies while also receiving subsidies from the Chinese Communist Party. This is the kind of pro-China double-dealing that is resulting in, as President Trump predicted, a “bloodbath” for the American auto industry.
No wonder President Trump said he was “thrilled” with Tim Walz as Harris’ the VP pick. Not content with a centrist candidate to balance the ticket, Harris instead chose another hard leftist, verging on communist. The Democrats’ regime is no friend to American energy producers or the American automotive industry. And, as Harris has made clear, &#8220;we are not going back.&#8221;
In the end, the choice is clear. America needs leadership that will protect our energy independence, lower costs for American families, and strengthen our economy. The alternative is more of the same disastrous policies that have plagued California and could result in the United States being known as Kamalafornia — where energy is expensive, scarce, and unreliable, and where the American dream is slipping further out of reach for millions.

Former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">President Donald Trump</a> announced at a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday that he wants to slash energy prices by half if elected back to the White House.
At Harrah&#8217;s Cherokee Center in Asheville, the GOP presidential nominee <a href="https://x.com/TrumpWarRoom/status/1823825622835057096">said</a> he aimed to reach that objective in less than two years of a second term.
&#8220;I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the U.S. will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half — at least. Half!” Trump said. 
&#8220;We intend to slash prices in half within 12 months, at a maximum 18 months,&#8221; he continued, adding that if he does not fully succeed, costs would still be down &#8220;a lot.&#8221;

Back in April, reports said gas prices had <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/energy/gas-prices-again-doubled-biden-took-office-despite-white-house-claiming-costs-fallen">risen 50%</a> since President Joe Biden took office. Biden has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admin-plans-election-year-summer-sale-of-gasoline-from-reserves" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sought to lower prices</a> at a time of high inflation with sales from strategic oil reserves.
Trump told the North Carolina audience that Vice President Kamala Harris, who has replaced Biden atop the Democratic Party&#8217;s presidential ticket, will not end the economic crisis.
Harris will only &#8220;make it worse,&#8221; he warned.

Trump <a href="https://x.com/GOP/status/1823840713672679877" target="_blank" rel="noopener">touted</a> his <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-social-security-income-tax-cut-here-is-the-impact-on-benefits/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposal</a> to cut taxes that senior citizens pay on Social Security benefits.
“To help seniors on fixed incomes who are suffering the ravages of inflation, there will be no tax on Social Security!” Trump explained. &#8220;We’re going to stop it.”
Trump also referred to his idea to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2024-07-19/trump-pledges-to-end-the-green-new-scam-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">shift money</a> for renewable energy priorities under the Biden-Harris administration to infrastructure projects. 
&#8220;To further combat inflation, I will terminate Kamala Harris’ ‘green new scam’ and … give all of the unspent funds back to building roads, bridges and give it back to the government,” Trump <a href="https://x.com/rsbnetwork/status/1823831164315939195?s=46&amp;t=yVg_AIbZC0FnyCtU4qPVYw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>. “It’s like what she did, what they did, it’s like throwing billions of dollars out the window.”
Near the end of the <a href="https://x.com/greg_price11/status/1823834801570230721?s=46&amp;t=yVg_AIbZC0FnyCtU4qPVYw">speech</a>, Trump tightened up his broader election message, saying he wanted to put an end to the rising costs of groceries, gas, and homes. It’s just “common sense,&#8221; he declared.
Adding in calls to &#8220;stop the invasion&#8221; at the border and get &#8220;transgender insanity the hell out of our schools,&#8221; Trump rallied support for defeating Harris and her “country destroying liberal agenda.”
