Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) gave a rare nod of approval to President Donald Trump, praising his crackdown on defense contractors that prioritize shareholder payouts over weapons production, saying the move has worked so well that she wants Congress to make it permanent. 
“Since the executive order was issued, each of the four largest defense contractors that engaged in stock buybacks and dividend payouts in the first quarter of 2025 cut them dramatically in the first quarter of 2026,” Warren said. “This review reveals that the president’s executive order helped protect taxpayers and improve investments by defense contractors.&#8221;
Warren is now urging Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to support legislation codifying key portions of Trump&#8217;s executive order into law.
“Given the findings of our review, we urge your support for codifying the president’s executive order into law and ensuring that the order has lasting results,” she wrote in a <a href="https://static.foxnews.com/foxnews.com/content/uploads/2026/08/Warren__Lee_Letter_to_DoD_re_Prioritizing_the_Warfighter_in_Defense_Contracting_.pdf">letter</a> to Hegseth. 
Trump signed an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/01/prioritizing-the-warfighter-in-defense-contracting/">executive order</a> in January, prohibiting defense contractors involved in business with the Pentagon from using capital for stock buybacks and dividend payments if the companies have not made critical investments in increased production and other Pentagon-related needs for the country’s national interest.  
“Effective immediately, they are not permitted in any way, shape, or form to pay dividends or buy back stock, until such time as they are able to produce a superior product, on time and on budget,” Trump wrote in the order. 
Trump said defense companies have the right to profit from their investments and hard work, but that “America’s warfighters have the best possible equipment and weapons.” Paying out dividends is a way for companies to distribute their profits to shareholders. 
Warren’s review found that combined stock buybacks and dividends among four of the largest defense contractors, Lockheed Martin, RTX, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics, fell from about $4.2 billion in the first quarter of 2025 to about $2.7 billion in the first quarter of 2026. The reductions were not uniform: Lockheed, Northrop, and General Dynamics all reported declines, while RTX&#8217;s payouts rose slightly year over year. 
Warren’s office also identified several contractors that it said had not meaningfully changed their behavior following Trump&#8217;s executive order, arguing that the results demonstrate why Congress should codify the policy rather than leave it solely to executive action. 
Warren and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced the Prioritizing the Warfighter in Defense Contracting Act in March, legislation intended to codify key provisions of Trump&#8217;s order. Warren, now joined by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), is pressing Hegseth in the new letter to support that legislation.
“These contractors who did not respond to the president’s executive order reveal the need for legislation that emboldens the department to enforce accountability. Legislation also provides certainty, and ensures that these changes are part of a strategic shift to deliver more fiscal responsibility to the department instead of temporary changes that can be quickly reversed,” she wrote.

Honest debate within the political Right requires the populist critics of traditional conservatism and free markets to stop hiding behind vague “common good” terminology and state in plain English what they want the government to do.
If “common good” economic policy means lower taxes and less regulation, I’m for it. If it means higher taxes and heavy regulation, I’m against it.
Unfortunately, leading populist think tankers and politicians have made it clear they want to raise taxes on American households.
Oren Cass, the founder and “Chief Economist” of American Compass, recently laid out a <a href="https://atr.org/oren-cass-calls-for-trillions-in-new-tax-increases/">$5 trillion laundry list</a> of tax increases on individuals and businesses, including a payroll tax hike on all Americans earning over $185,000.
Cass, whose organization runs the <a href="https://americancompass.org/announcing-the-common-good-economics-grant-program/">Common Good Economics</a> grant program, is an influential voice in populist circles. American Compass was <a href="https://www.commonplace.org/about">dubbed</a> “the cutting edge of populist economic and cultural thinking” by Steve Bannon. Vice President JD Vance referred to Cass as “a friend,” and a “very fascinating guy” during his recent <a href="https://podcasts.happyscribe.com/the-joe-rogan-experience/2526-jd-vance">interview</a> on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
During an appearance on the “<a href="https://ricochet.com/podcast/conservative-crossroads-with-henry-olsen/should-conservatives-raise-taxes/">Conservative Crossroads</a>” podcast released last week, Cass backed new tax increases and the reversal of key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), President Trump’s signature legislative achievement.
Specifically, Cass called to “take the top couple of [individual] rates back up to where they were before TCJA,” and to hike “the corporate rate back up to 25 percent.”
Raising the top income tax rate to the pre-Trump level of 39.6% was Kamala Harris’s and Joe Biden’s campaign position. Cass thought they didn’t go far enough and would raise the “top couple of rates.” This is a tax hike on people who make things – the small and mid-sized businesses that file their taxes on the individual side of the tax code and employ over 60% of the nation’s workforce. This includes the manufacturers, welders, builders, metalworkers, contractors, etc., who, in 2025, wrote a <a href="https://atr.org/90-manufacturing-machinist-builders-and-contractors-groups-oppose-any-effort-to-increase-tax-rates/">letter</a> to Republican lawmakers urging them to oppose “any effort to increase income tax rates.” The Republicans listened and made the Trump individual rates permanent law.
Cass’s proposed corporate rate hike is a tax increase on American workers. The corporate income tax is how Democrats hide the ball on who pays taxes. According to the <a href="https://taxfoundation.org/labor-bears-corporate-tax/">Tax Foundation</a>, workers bear an estimated 70% of the corporate income tax in the form of lower wages. The Cass plan would also hamstring American competition with China, imposing a combined federal-state tax rate of 29%, higher than China’s conventional 25% rate and its preferred 15% corporate tax rate on companies deemed “high and new technology enterprises.”
After calling to reverse the Trump tax cuts, Cass went on to endorse Elizabeth Warren’s $800 billion financial transaction tax, a key pillar of her anti-Wall Street <a href="https://medium.com/@teamwarren/ending-the-stranglehold-of-health-care-costs-on-american-families-bf8286b13086">tax plan</a> during her failed presidential campaign.
Cass topped off his tax hike wish list by calling to uncap the Social Security payroll tax, currently capped at roughly $185,000, raising taxes on millions of taxpayers.
Alarmingly, at least one Republican Senator has already followed Cass’s advice to hike payroll taxes.
In June, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), a self-styled <a href="https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2024/02/24/ohio-senate-bernie-moreno">populist Republican</a>, joined Elizabeth Warren in a New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/23/opinion/moreno-warren-social-security.html">op-ed</a> announcing they would soon be introducing legislation to fully eliminate the payroll tax cap, which they themselves label a $3 trillion tax increase.
Eliminating the payroll tax cap would <a href="https://atr.org/bernie-moreno-not-sanders-joins-elizabeth-warren-to-impose-56-percent-tax-rate-on-ohio-small-businesses/">impose</a> a 56% combined top rate on small and midsize businesses in Ohio. It would shrink the U.S. economy by 1.2% and kill 1.3 million jobs.
The Moreno-Warren plan faced widespread <a href="https://atr.org/no-conservative-support-for-bernie-morenos-giant-tax-increase/">backlash</a> from conservatives, including opposition from the Heritage Foundation, Club for Growth, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and even Moreno’s fellow Republican Senator from Ohio, John Husted, who is currently running to keep his seat.
Even Hillary Clinton previously <a href="https://x.com/johnkartch/status/2069470615866896527?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2069470615866896527%7Ctwgr%5E32e32a9355a495af121e09088fabc174aa75d144%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fatr.org%2Fbernie-moreno-not-sanders-joins-elizabeth-warren-to-impose-56-percent-tax-rate-on-ohio-small-businesses%2F">opposed</a> lifting the payroll tax cap, pointing out that it would raise taxes on “police officers, firefighters and the like.” Cass, however, <a href="https://www.commonplace.org/p/cutting-bait-on-a-bad-war">endorsed</a> the Moreno payroll tax hike specifically for pushing Republicans “toward an approach that puts revenue on the table.”
Facing stiff conservative opposition, six weeks have now gone by without Moreno introducing an actual bill. Moreno might have let Cass walk him into traffic by raising taxes, but other Republicans and conservatives should learn from this mistake and stay far away.
Raising taxes is a betrayal of core conservative principles. No one on the Right should endorse the idea that the government is entitled to 50% of any dollar any American earns. You can&#8217;t slap a &#8220;common good&#8221; label on the same policies Elizabeth Warren has pushed since arriving in the Senate and call it conservative.
Across the country, Republicans are campaigning this cycle on the Trump tax cuts. At the <a href="https://atr.org/taxmap/">state level</a>, 12 Republican-run states cut income taxes last year, and 26 states have passed legislation enacting either a zero or flat income tax rate. <a href="https://thehill.com/business/5826304-americans-poll-taxes-high/">Six in 10 Americans</a> say they pay too much in taxes and only 3% say they pay too little.
It seems the “populist” Right still has some work to do selling their tax hikes to the public. They can count me out.

Talk about a delayed reaction.
For months, Maine Democratic Senate hopeful Graham Platner sailed through scandal after scandal with the Democratic Party&#8217;s blessing intact. A tattoo tied to Nazi SS iconography? Fine. Old posts sneering at rape victims and calling rural Americans &#8220;stupid&#8221; and &#8220;racist&#8221;? Shrugged off. Cheering on the death of a wounded U.S. soldier online? Chalked up to a &#8220;dark period.&#8221; Steamy texts to other women while married? Overlooked.
Even a supposed <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/04/us/politics/platner-maine-senate-girlfriends-relationships.html?searchResultPosition=9">New York Times exposé</a> detailing ex-girlfriends&#8217; accounts of controlling, physically rough behavior barely dented his support. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o8vE0Js_VE">waved the Nazi tattoo away</a> by calling Platner &#8220;a human being.&#8221; Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) went on national television days later insisting there was &#8220;no evidence of violence&#8221; and that this was his personal red line — a line, it turns out, that hadn&#8217;t yet been crossed in his eyes.

Big names stuck by him through it all: Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM), former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, and of course Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who campaigned at Platner&#8217;s side and later brushed off the mounting allegations of violence against women by <a href="https://www.press.org/newsroom/sanders-takes-aim-trump-mainstream-democrats-corporate-media-remarks">noting</a>, &#8220;There are people in the United States Senate right now who are not saints, I can tell you that.”
So what finally did it? A <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/07/06/top-democrats-pull-graham-platner-endorsements-call-him-end-maine-senate-campaign/">fresh accusation</a> — this one alleging outright sexual assault, not just &#8220;toxicity&#8221; or bad boyfriend behavior. The moment the word &#8220;assault&#8221; entered the conversation, the dam broke. Senate Democratic leadership, including Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, suddenly found their outrage, declaring the allegations &#8220;incredibly disturbing&#8221; and demanding Platner exit the race immediately. Gallego reversed course and yanked his endorsement. Khanna, who just days earlier had drawn his personal red line well short of these claims, now says the accusations are &#8220;very serious and credible&#8221; and pulled his support too.

Warren joined the chorus urging Platner to step aside. Even Maine&#8217;s own state Democratic Party piled on, framing the flip as a matter of &#8220;judgment&#8221; and &#8220;leadership.&#8221;
Funny how judgment works.
The glaring holdout? Sen. Sanders — one of Platner&#8217;s earliest and loudest cheerleaders — who&#8217;s gone conspicuously silent, declining to answer questions about the new allegation altogether. In May, Sanders refused to answer a reporters&#8217; questions on serious allegations made against Platner.

The whiplash hasn&#8217;t gone unnoticed. Nazi tattoos, greenlit. Mocking a wounded soldier, greenlit. Explicit texts behind a wife&#8217;s back, greenlit. Allegations of shoving a girlfriend into a room and blocking the door, greenlit. But the second the word &#8220;assault&#8221; showed up in a headline, suddenly party leaders discovered principles they&#8217;d somehow misplaced for the better part of a year.
Platner, for his part, denies the latest claim but admits he&#8217;s &#8220;mindful of the political reality&#8221; it creates, and says he&#8217;s weighing his next move.
Maine law gives him until July 13 to bow out gracefully — or force his own party to keep defending the indefensible through November.

Many Americans are about to own SpaceX even if they didn&#8217;t participate in Friday’s Initial Public Offering. 
Starting this Friday, SpaceX will be appearing in many personal and retirement investment accounts through diversified index funds that track the broader stock market. The company will be added to the CRSP U.S. Total Market Index, a benchmark tracked by numerous 401(k)s, IRAs, pension plans, and target-date retirement funds. Many employer-sponsored retirement plans offer Vanguard total-market funds that replicate the index, giving millions of Americans exposure to SpaceX.
Others will gain exposure to SpaceX 15 trading days after its IPO, when the Nasdaq-100 adds the company to the index. The Invesco QQQ ETF, which tracks the Nasdaq-100, will then add SpaceX to its holdings. QQQ is one of the most heavily traded exchange funds in the world.
While SpaceX will be just one of the 100 companies in the Nasdaq-100, Nasdaq is giving it an outsized weighting. Because most of SpaceX&#8217;s shares remain owned by insiders, only a limited number are available for public trading. To account for that small public float, Nasdaq is applying a factor of three to SpaceX&#8217;s float-adjusted value, increasing its weight in the index and requiring funds such as QQQ to buy more of the stock than they otherwise would.
The S&amp;P 500, one of the world&#8217;s most widely followed stock indexes, will not add SpaceX immediately. The S&amp;P 500 <a href="https://www.spglobal.com/spdji/en/documents/indexnews/announcements/20260604-1483731/1483731_spdji-us-indices-megacaps-results-20260604.pdf">does not allow</a> eligible companies into its fund until it&#8217;s traded on an eligible exchange for at least 12 months. The S&amp;P 500 has a 12-month wait time to help mitigate potentially adding a company at an inflated valuation and avoid potentially large price swings. 
Another group that could potentially end up owning SpaceX is Tesla shareholders. Elon Musk has reportedly <a href="https://fortune.com/2026/06/12/spacex-tesla-merger-gwynne-shotwell-hints-elon-musk-ipo/">floated</a> the possibility of a merger between Tesla and SpaceX. If such a deal were pursued, SpaceX&#8217;s larger valuation could make it the acquiring company. In an all-stock or cash-and-stock transaction, Tesla shareholders could receive SpaceX shares in exchange for their Tesla stock, effectively making them SpaceX investors.
While the S&amp;P 500 did not change its rules to allow SpaceX in early, the Nasdaq and the <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/spacex-set-fast-entry-into-us-global-indexes-under-new-ftse-rules-2026-05-26/">FTSE Russell</a> did make accommodations prompting a stern letter from Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).  
“Traditionally, index providers — including your firms — have maintained rules for the inclusion of companies on their <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/newsletters/2026-05-26/index-funds-can-t-say-no-to-spacex">indexes</a>, which are meant to protect passive investors and maintain the credibility of each <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/newsletters/2026-05-26/index-funds-can-t-say-no-to-spacex">index</a>,” wrote Warren. “The changes to your index rules to accommodate these large companies, however, have the potential to destabilize markets and create significant risks for American investors, especially retirees and other individuals that rely on index funds for their savings.”
Supporters of rule changes argue that SpaceX should be allowed into major indexes because it qualifies regardless of its recent IPO and is a “Made in the USA stock that is sizable and belongs in benchmarks,” according to TD Securities Head of Index and Market Structure Research Peter Haynes. 
“What this is doing is setting a precedent that the S&amp;P 500 will not add OpenAI and Anthropic when those IPOs happen,” added Strategas Securities Chief ETF Strategist Todd Sohn.

Mythology surrounds Marie Antoinette, a French royal so removed from the struggles of common people that she allegedly couldn’t fathom why they were upset about not having bread.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) plays a similar role in the debate over private equity in 401(k)s — and the irony is chocolate cake rich.
Call her Sen. Antoinette. Warren tells average American workers, “Let them eat index funds,” while she herself indulges in higher-returning investments for her own retirement.
Warren is crusading against <a href="https://www.banking.senate.gov/newsroom/minority/warren-statement-on-trump-department-of-labor-proposed-rule-to-shove-risky-assets-into-americans-retirements">the Trump administration’</a>s Labor Department-proposed rule, currently open for public comment, that would expand access to private-market investments in 401(k) plans.
Independent Women is submitting public comment and <a href="https://www.independentwomen.com/401kfreedom/">gathering comments from others</a> until the June 1 deadline in support of this rule.
Warren <a href="https://www.banking.senate.gov/newsroom/minority/warren-seeks-answers-from-empower-retirement-on-threats-to-americans-401ks-from-private-equity-and-private-credit">badgered Empower Retirement</a>, the country’s second-largest retirement services provider, for encouraging contribution plans for retirement savers in private equity and private credit. Warren called PE investments a “Wall Street time bomb,” and warned darkly that allowing working people access to such investments serves no one “other than private funds.”
The senator from Massachusetts appointed herself guardian of the little guy’s nest egg. There’s just one problem: the little guys she’s protecting can’t have what she has.
Start with Warren’s own <a href="https://static.notus.org/5a/3b/03b4d0df403888ae808a5235fd3c/elizabeth-warren-2024.pdf">financial disclosure</a>. Her largest retirement asset — between $1 million and $5 million — sits in TIAA-CREF Traditional, a guaranteed-principal fund available almost exclusively to university professors and academic elites. It offers something no ordinary 401(k) holder can access: a promise that you’ll never lose your principal, a guaranteed minimum interest rate, and a lifetime income stream. Warren collected $88,423 in retirement income from it in 2024 alone. That’s not a 401(k). That’s a golden parachute stitched together by decades of Ivy League employment.
Pure hypocrisy: among Warren’s disclosed holdings is a <a href="https://static.notus.org/5a/3b/03b4d0df403888ae808a5235fd3c/elizabeth-warren-2024.pdf">TIAA Real Estate Account</a>, valued between $500,000 and $1 million. A private real estate fund. An alternative investment of the very asset category she insists is too risky, too opaque, and too Wall Street for average Americans’ retirement accounts. Sen. Antoinette holds alternatives for herself while pulling up the drawbridge for everyone else.
And it doesn’t stop there. Massachusetts, her home state, has<a href="https://financebuzz.com/elizabeth-warren-trumps-401k-rule-retirement-savings-risk"> private equity throughout its public pension system</a>. And Harvard, where she built her career, has <a href="https://nhjournal.com/attack-on-private-equity-access-for-all-highlights-warrens-hypocrisy/">39% of its massive endowment parked in private equity</a>, managed by a board stacked with executives from Blackstone, General Atlantic, and other titans of the industry she vilifies on the Senate floor.
In other words: private equity for me, not for thee.
The national picture makes this even more glaring. Roughly<a href="https://www.investmentcouncil.org/new-study-private-equity-delivers-the-strongest-returns-for-retirees-across-america/"> 89% of public pension funds</a> across America invest in private equity. Some 34 million public sector workers — teachers, firefighters, police officers — depend on these returns to fund their retirements. When the American Investment Council studied 200 public pension funds, it found private equity delivered a<a href="https://www.investmentcouncil.org/new-study-private-equity-delivers-the-strongest-returns-for-retirees-across-america/"> median annualized return of 13.5%</a> over 10 years, outperforming every other major asset class in those portfolios.
While government employees and academic elites enjoy these returns, private-sector workers — the people actually in 401(k) plans — are largely locked out. They’re stuck with the menu their employers offer, typically public stocks and bond funds. President Donald Trump’s<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/08/democratizing-access-to-alternative-assets-for-401k-investors/"> executive order</a> aims to change that, instructing federal agencies to explore letting workers access alternative assets under strict fiduciary guardrails and professional management.
Sen. Antoinette hasn’t explained why a Massachusetts schoolteacher’s pension deserves access to private equity returns that a Massachusetts private-sector worker cannot touch, nor why her own TIAA Real Estate Account is a prudent holding while a similar alternative investment in a worker’s 401(k) is a “time bomb.” She ignores the core unfairness she is defending: a multi-tiered retirement system where public employees, Ivy League academics, and the wealthy elite feast on alternative investments while everyone else is banned “for their own good.”
There is a legitimate debate to be had about fees, liquidity, and investor protections — and it’s one worth having. But that is a debate about how to extend access responsibly, not whether to extend it at all. Warren isn’t engaging in the former. She’s blocking the latter.

Over the weekend, Spirit Airlines customers woke up to a blunt message inside the airline’s app: every scheduled flight is canceled, effective immediately.
Shutting down operations has disrupted travel for thousands. The low-cost airline had dozens of routes, including nonstop flights between major cities such as Dallas-Fort Worth, Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, New Orleans, and Newark.

In March 2024, the Department of Justice under President Biden celebrated when a district court judge in Massachusetts blocked JetBlue from acquiring Spirit, saying the deal would&#8217;ve hurt consumers.
“Today’s decision by JetBlue is yet another victory for the Justice Department’s work on behalf of American consumers,”<a href="https://www.justice.gov/archives/opa/pr/justice-department-statements-jetblue-terminating-acquisition-spirit-airlines"> Attorney General Merrick Garland said at the time.</a> “The Justice Department proved in court that a merger between JetBlue and Spirit would have caused tens of millions of travelers to face higher fares and fewer choices. We will continue to vigorously enforce the nation’s antitrust laws.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), a vocal critic of the proposed merger, also took a victory lap.

The company&#8217;s downfall came days after a<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/spirit-airlines-officially-shuts-down-see-the-message-stranded-customers-woke-up-to"> last-ditch effort</a> to save the airline fell apart. A roughly $500 million bailout push led by the Trump administration failed after disagreements between the Trump administration and key bondholders stalled any deal. The collapse will also result in at least 15,000 people losing their jobs,<a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/airlines-scramble-help-stranded-spirit-passengers-after-budget-carrier-collapses-2026-05-02/"> according to Reuters. </a>
&#8220;If JetBlue had merged with Spirit, we would have all these jobs that were lost yesterday; we had 30 regional airports who have lost service,&#8221; Bessent said. &#8220;The reason we were here was because the Biden Administration opposed the merger. We shouldn&#8217;t of been here in the first place.&#8221; 
On Saturday, Sen. Warren blamed the war in the Middle East for the low-cost airline suspending operations. 
&#8220;Spiking fuel prices from Trump’s war was the nail in the coffin for twice-bankrupted Spirit airline,&#8221; Warren said. &#8220;FWIW, JetBlue merger failed because a judge, appointed by Ronald Reagan, said the deal was illegal. Republicans are desperate to shift blame from higher costs hitting families.&#8221;

For context, Deus Vult is a centuries-old Christian phrase meaning &#8220;God wills it.&#8221; To Warren and the pearl-clutching Left, this Latin expression of faith was &#8220;associated with right-wing extremism&#8221; and therefore disqualifying for public service.

When a conservative veteran has a Christian tattoo, Warren sounds the alarm on &#8220;extremism.&#8221; When a populist Democrat has a Nazi-affiliated tattoo and a history of praising communism, she calls him the &#8220;real deal&#8221; and a &#8220;fighter.&#8221;
For Elizabeth Warren, the &#8220;threat&#8221; isn&#8217;t found in the symbols of history’s most hateful regimes; it’s found in anyone who disagrees with her political agenda. If you’re a Republican, a Latin phrase is a hate crime. If you’re a Democrat, a Totenkopf is just a youthful indiscretion.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) endorsed populist veteran Graham Platner in Maine&#8217;s Democratic Senate primary on Thursday, further intensifying an already contentious race against Gov. Janet Mills.
Platner has also been backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), while Mills is supported by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). The winner will face incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) in the November general election, which is expected to be competitive and costly.
“Graham Platner is the real deal,” Warren <a href="https://x.com/grahamformaine/status/2034603306404765726">said</a> in a video announcement. “He’s a fighter, and he’s ready to take that fight to Washington.”
Warren argued that Platner could help Democrats reclaim the Senate majority, currently held by Republicans, 53-47.
“Graham Platner has the grit to go against the grain and to fight for what is right,&#8221; she added, saying Platner exhibits the “fighting spirit that the Democratic Party needs now more than ever.”
Platner’s campaign faced numerous scandals last fall, including old Reddit posts from 2013 in which he described himself as a “communist” and made demeaning comments about women. He has since apologized for the remarks. He also faced scrutiny over a tattoo that critics said resembled a Nazi symbol, which he later covered.
The Mills campaign made the past Reddit comments a key focus of a new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/attack-ad-targets-democrat-over-vulgar-past-comments-about-women?author=Cameron+Arcand&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Attack+Ad+Targets+Democrat+Over+Vulgar+Past+Comments+About+Women">ad</a> released earlier this week, specifically highlighting posts saying women should “act like an adult for f*** sake” and “not get so f***ed up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to.”
“Just no way I could vote for you,” a woman says in the ad.
In response, Platner re-shared a previous apology video from October and said in a post on X that he “was horrified&#8221; by the comments and &#8220;did not recognize the man on the other side of the posts.”
Samantha Cantrell, a National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesperson, said that “Chuck Schumer&#8217;s handpicked candidate is so unpopular in Maine that Elizabeth Warren just endorsed a guy with a Nazi tattoo.”
Despite the past controversies, most polling averages show Platner leading Gov. Mills ahead of the June 9 primary, according to RealClearPolling. The Cook Political Report has the general election race ranked as a “toss-up.”
Collins, who has represented Maine since 1997, won re-election in 2020 with roughly 51% of the vote, defeating Democrat Sara Gideon, who received about 42%.

New York City’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who has been happy to express support for terror supporters throughout his entire career, is now hiding behind international law as cover for his consistent opposition to Western strength.

The answer should be, &#8220;Yes.&#8221; 
Even if you have questions about what comes next, the answer should be yes. Yes, Iran is better off without Ayatollah Khamenei. But according to Mamdani, the important thing is saying that the ayatollah is really bad — but the minute anybody does anything, that is so much worse. We have to make sure that Khamenei stays in place because, after all, “the Iraq war.”
This Iraq War syndrome nonsense that has been promoted by the Left and then the horseshoe Right together, that every war is Iraq, every single intervention is Iraq, is ahistorical and absurd and tripe.
In 2015-2016, candidate Donald Trump ran on the platform that the Iraq war was bad — which was a controversial opinion inside the Republican Party at the time. The idea that he is now going to engage in a new, long-lasting occupation — not the first three weeks of the Iraq War, where the United States kicked the living hell out of Saddam Hussein and ended his regime, but what came after that, is ludicrous.
By the way, the first three weeks of the Iraq War were, by every available metric, a win for the United States. It was what came after that became problematic.
The argument of the cowards and liars is that Trump is going to engage in Bush-style nation-building in Iran.
Then there are the cowards who slander Israel to somehow imply that Israel is the bad guy in the conflict between Israel and Iran.
Take Gavin Newsom, who is absolutely slimy. As I said before, the man takes more positions on politics than the Kama Sutra. This is the same guy who, in an interview with me, freely admitted that Israel had not committed genocide in Gaza. Last night, however, he went on with the “Pod Save America” bros, knowing he had to please their Israel-hating asses.
Thus, he immediately started <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/gavin-newsom-israel-apartheid-state-1236521231/">talking about</a> how Israel is an apartheid state.
False.
20% of the Israeli population is Arab Muslim. They&#8217;re on the Supreme Court. They are in the medical system. A huge percentage of Israeli doctors are Arab Muslims. They&#8217;re in every area of Israeli society.
How can it be apartheid for Israel to have delegated certain parts of land to, for example, the Palestinian Authority, a terror-supporting group?
But Gavin Newsom knows he has to mouth these platitudes to his far-Left friends if he wants the nomination, because the Democratic Party — as Senator John Fetterman said yesterday on my show — is moving dramatically away from Israel.

The fact that we are in this now regional war, all these proxies.”
He is a coward and a liar.
The fact of the matter is that blaming the attack on Iran on Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, is a lie. There&#8217;s complete solidarity in Israel from Left to Right on what Israel is doing right now. From Yair Lapid, who is on the Left, to Naftali Bennett, the chief rival to Netanyahu, to Yair Golan on the far, far, far Left, everyone agrees on this.
But when you are a coward, and you&#8217;re afraid of your own party, you have to start lying.
And then there are the actual liars, the people making actual stories up out of nothing. Stories they know aren&#8217;t true, but they push them anyway. The catastrophists aren&#8217;t actually worried about World War III or a long-standing boots on the ground occupation, but try to lie to Americans that they are.
Thus, Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who has had his own shady history with the truth when it comes to his purported military service, said <a href="https://x.com/yashar/status/2028975539214782618">he&#8217;s worried</a> that we&#8217;re going to put boots on the ground.
Does he mean that there might be special operators on the ground? Because if we&#8217;re talking about special operators on the ground, welcome to the real world, where the United States has special operators on the ground all over the world, everywhere from Asia to Africa and the Middle East.
But that&#8217;s not what he was implying. He was implying a gigantic airlift of hundreds of thousands of troops, a gigantic boots on the ground footprint. It&#8217;s a lie. It is untrue.
It&#8217;s astonishing to watch this while he is wearing the American flag/Ukraine flag pin on his lapel.
“I am more fearful than ever after this briefing that we may be putting boots on the ground, and that the troops from the United States may be necessary to accomplish the objectives that the administration seems to have, but I also am no more clear on what the priorities are going to be given this regime going forward,” he <a href="https://x.com/yashar/status/2028975539214782618">hyperventilated</a>.
These are lies. It&#8217;s not true.
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), directly from the Native American reservation, from her teepee, says that <a href="https://youtu.be/DxrTqQEZ69s">there is no plan</a>.
And she would know because, after all, she is a military leader and expert.
“I just left a classified briefing on Iran,” she huffed. “And here&#8217;s what I can say: It is so much worse than you thought. The Trump administration has no plan in Iran. This illegal war is based on lies and it was launched without any imminent threat to our nation. Donald Trump still hasn&#8217;t given us a single clear reason for this war, and he seems to have no plan for how to end it either. Like a lot of you, I am really angry. I am angry at what Donald Trump is doing, and I feel grief for those already killed in this unnecessary conflict. And I will keep doing everything I can to fight to end this war.” 
What a liar she is. What an absolute liar. President Trump hasn&#8217;t explained it? What&#8217;s been happening for the past 50 years?
This notion that no one knows why, that what has happened is some mystery out of the blue?
No one believes that.
The idea that there&#8217;s no plan here is horsesh*t. There is a plan here, and the military is laying it out, but the liars are going to lie.
Finally, there are the American haters. There are a lot of people who live in America who truly hate America.
There&#8217;s an easy way to tell who hates America.
If you call America a terrorist organization for killing one of the world&#8217;s most evil dictators, for example, I know you hate America.
If you say that the United States is the worst terror organization in the world, you don&#8217;t like America, period, because that is such an overt lie.
That is such a moral calumny that there can only be one explanation, and it is your deep and abiding hatred for America&#8217;s role in the world.
To make that argument, you have to deliberately obscure the difference between actual terrorists who deliberately seek to kill innocent people and nation states seeking to avoid civilian casualties, often while fighting those actual terrorists.
That is the point for people who hate America: To reduce America to the level of its enemies in order to uphold those enemies. 
You also hate America if you claim that the president of the United States is merely a tool of foreign interests without any evidence whatsoever. You are promoting lies directly mirroring those of the Iranian terrorist government, in direct contravention of truth and of the Trump administration&#8217;s own words.
President Trump was asked directly whether it was Israel that was leading him around. He <a href="https://x.com/realDailyWire/status/2028877941808005217">fired back</a>, “I might have forced their hand. You see, we were having negotiations with these lunatics, and it was my opinion that they were going to attack first. They were going to attack if we didn&#8217;t do it, they were going to attack first. I felt strongly about that. And we had great negotiators, great people, people that do this very successfully and have done it all their lives, very successful. And, based on the way the negotiation was going, I think they were going to attack first.”
Another game that the Coalition of Scavengers is playing here with regard to President Trump is that what he&#8217;s doing right now is wildly unpopular with the American people.
According to CBS News, 85% of Republicans support the president&#8217;s strikes on Iran. 
According to Fox News, 84% of Republicans support the strikes on Iran. 
According to The Washington Post, 81% of Republicans support the strike on Iran. 
According to Reuters/Ipsos, 82% of Republicans support the strikes on Iran.
So, it doesn&#8217;t sound like much of a split inside the Republican Party.
Military households approve of the current action against Iran by a 20-point margin, 60-40. One of the great ironies of all the people on the Left and the horseshoe Right who claim to speak in the name of the military is that they very rarely actually talk to people who are in the military. The military is quite conservative and hawkish when it comes to actual effectuating of American foreign policy.
The lesson of all this?
Be a lion, not a scavenger.

President Donald Trump urged Congress on Wednesday to pass legislation capping credit card interest rates at 10% for the next year, a proposal that has drawn criticism from Republican lawmakers.
Trump pressed Congress to take action on credit card interest rates during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Last week, the president pressured banks and credit card companies to lower interest rates for one year, but he didn&#8217;t address how he would force them to comply. A deadline had been set for Jan. 20, but institutions have yet to follow Trump&#8217;s directive.
&#8220;The profit margin for credit card companies now exceeds 50%, and they charge Americans interest rates of 28%, 30%, 31%, 32%. Whatever happened to usury?&#8221; Trump <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/2013983796039647649">said</a> on Wednesday. &#8220;So, to help our citizens recover from the Biden disaster all caused by this horrible president, I&#8217;m asking Congress to cap credit card interest rates at 10% for one year.&#8221;
&#8220;And this will help millions of Americans save for a home,&#8221; he added.
Leftist Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who has pushed for capping credit card interest rates, said last week that Trump <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/01/14/warren-trump-credit-card-interest-rate-affordability.html">called her</a> to discuss the issue. Warren said that she told Trump &#8220;he had not lifted a finger to try to get something through on credit card interest rate caps.”
Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Republican Josh Hawley of Missouri also support the idea. Both senators introduced a bill last year to cap credit card interest rates at 10% for five years. Leftist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Florida Republican Anna Paulina Luna introduced a similar bill in the House, but the legislation has not made any progress in Congress.
When Trump publicly floated the idea of capping interest rates last week, Republican leaders in the Senate and House poured cold water on the proposal. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said last Tuesday, &#8220;The president is the ideas guy,” adding, “I wouldn’t get too spun up about ideas that are out of the box, that are proposed or suggested,&#8221; POLITICO <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/01/13/trump-credit-cards-congress-republicans-00725477">reported</a>.
&#8220;You&#8217;ve got to be very careful if you go forward in that,&#8221; Johnson continued. &#8220;In our zeal to bring down costs, you don&#8217;t want to have negative secondary effects. The problem is, if you do that, then the credit card companies, the negative secondary effect is that they would just stop lending money, and maybe they cap what people are able to borrow at a very low amount.&#8221;
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) said, “That’s not something I’m out there advocating for.&#8221; Thune told NBC News that he believes Trump is getting bad advice.
&#8220;He may be getting advice on some of those issues, like, for example, the 10% cap on credit cards,” he said. “Don’t know where that came from. I don’t know. I don’t know the answer.”
Now that Trump has called on Congress to act on capping credit card interest rates, Republican leaders could find themselves in a tougher spot if they continue to publicly oppose his plan.
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, who is also in Davos, <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2026/01/21/jamie-dimon-trump-credit-card-rate-cap-vermont-massachusetts.html">said</a> on Wednesday that a cap on credit card interest rates &#8220;would be an economic disaster.&#8221;
“In the worst case, you’d have a drastic reduction of the credit card business” for 80% of Americans, Dimon said, according to CNBC. He then quipped that the United States should test the idea in Warren&#8217;s and Sanders&#8217; home states of Massachusetts and Vermont, &#8220;and see what happens.&#8221; The banker added that those on &#8220;the Left&#8221; who push for price controls “will learn a real lesson, and the people crying the most won’t be the credit card companies.&#8221;
“It’ll be the restaurants, the retailers, the travel companies, the schools, the municipalities, because people miss their water payments,” Dimon said. “It would be something else to watch.”

Two weeks ago, Bloomberg anchor Lisa Abramowicz, discussing the sale of Nvidia H200s to China with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-president-trump-sell-advanced-ai-chips-to-china">asked</a>, “Is it more of a national security risk to give China some of these high-powered chips, or is it more of a national security risk to not have United States tech in China?”
Lutnick replied, saying that very question was sitting on the president’s desk. On Monday, President Trump delivered his answer.
“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow Nvidia to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security,” the president announced. “President Xi responded positively! 25% will be paid to the United States of America.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for clarification on whether that 25% will be paid by foreign governments, strictly Chinese buyers, or the AI companies themselves. In August, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/morning-brief-trumps-d-c-takeover-a-china-chip-deal-border-wall-2-0">reports</a> surfaced of a separate arrangement in which Nvidia and AMD would share 15% of their profits with the United States government.
President Trump emphasized that Nvidia’s most advanced chips, Blackwell and Rubin, would not be included in H200 export authorization.
The decision drew an immediate rebuke from Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “After his backroom meeting with Donald Trump and his company’s donation to the Trump ballroom, CEO Jensen Huang got his wish to sell the most powerful AI chip we’ve ever sold to China.”
Warren called for Huang to “testify publicly and under oath” in front of Congress.

Trump defended the move, insisting it would not compromise national security. “We will protect national security, create American jobs, and keep America’s lead in AI,” he stated.
Earlier this month, Samuel Hammond, the chief economist at the Foundation for American Innovation, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/will-president-trump-sell-advanced-ai-chips-to-china">told</a> The Daily Wire, “Permitting H200 exports to China would be a world-historic mistake. America’s current lead in AI would be radically diminished with very little to show for it.”
AI Czar David Sacks, speaking at the Salesforce Dreamforce conference, described the export policy as a complicated endeavor.
“What we ship to China is complicated,” he said, noting that current policy permits less advanced chips to be sold abroad, but that the fight in Washington is where that line is drawn. “Some people want to draw that line very, very restrictively.”
Sacks has not yet commented on the H200 decision — but earlier on Monday, he weighed in on the president’s forthcoming “One Rule” executive order. “There must be only one rulebook if we are going to continue to lead in AI,” Trump said, warning that “we are beating all countries at this point in the [AI] race, but that won’t last for long if we are going to have 50 States involved in the rules and approval process.”
Addressing concerns on the AI preemption, Sacks stated that with 50 different AI models for 50 different states, America will end up with a &#8220;regulatory morass worse than Europe.&#8221; The AI czar <a href="https://x.com/DavidSacks/status/1998125180753944985">added</a>, &#8220;If we want America to win the AI race, a confusing patchwork of regulation will not work.&#8221;
Further details on the &#8220;One Rule&#8221; executive order, as well as clarification on the H200 sale to China, are expected later this week.

The Trump administration notched a victory when a Kentucky federal judge temporarily blocked the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from implementing a rule critics say puts Americans&#8217; financial data at risk.
The 1033 Rule, proposed under President Joe Biden&#8217;s CFPB Director Rohit Chopra, <a href="https://www.consumerfinance.gov/personal-financial-data-rights/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">requires</a> banks to &#8220;make available to consumers, upon request, transaction data and other information concerning a consumer financial product or service that the consumer obtained from the covered entity.&#8221;
Forcht Bank, the Kentucky Bankers Association, and the Bank Policy Institute sued to block the rule, saying it exceeded the CFPB’s authority and would force the institutions to hand over large amounts of sensitive data, creating security and liability risks. Judge Danny C. Reeves of the United States District Court for Kentucky concluded the rule could cause more harm than good.
&#8220;The public could arguably lose some benefit from the Rule not being enforced at the set compliance deadlines,&#8221; said the judge. &#8220;However, the plaintiffs also contend that enforcement of the current Rule puts consumers at risk due to security risk as to their banking information.&#8221;
The <a href="https://bpi.com/joint-statement-on-courts-decision-to-stay-section-1033-compliance-deadline/">Bank Policy Institute</a> issued a statement saying the organization was grateful for the court&#8217;s decision.
&#8220;This is a common-sense procedural step,&#8221; said the Bank Policy Institute. It &#8220;doesn’t interfere with the rulemaking process but ensures banks won’t be forced to invest time and resources preparing for a rule that is currently being rewritten.”
&#8220;This preliminary injunction marks a pivotal moment for those who value consumer privacy and limited-government issues,&#8221; a source familiar with the matter told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The Trump administration now has a unique opportunity to advance a new 1033 rule that gets the government out of the way and unleashes innovation.”
Under Vought&#8217;s leadership, the CFPB issued <a href="https://www.consumerfinance.gov/personal-financial-data-rights/">an advance notice of proposed rulemaking,</a> inviting the public to give input to form the basis of the final rule. Once input has been provided, the CFPB will share a draft of the rule.
The CFPB is now analyzing public comments and data around four key issues related to the implementation of the 1033 rule: who should be allowed to access financial data on a customer&#8217;s behalf, whether companies should be allowed to charge data sharing fees, how big are the security risks of sharing financial data, and how big are the privacy risks.
The Bank Policy Institute writes that the current rule &#8220;unlawfully mandated banks to share sensitive consumer data with third-party fintechs and aggregators; it required no oversight of third parties using bank customer data,&#8221; among other issues.
Earlier this year, Chopra was notified that he had been <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-fires-rohit-chopra-director-of-the-consumer-financial-protection-bureau/">fired by the president</a> via an email from the White House. President Trump appointed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to lead the agency in interim before handing the reins over to Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought.
Rethinking the CFPB has been a priority of the Trump administration&#8217;s since the start of his term. In February, the White House issued a statement stating that the agency &#8220;has long functioned as another woke, weaponized arm of the bureaucracy that leverages its power against certain industries and individuals disfavored by so-called elites.&#8221;
The Trump administration accused the CFPB of &#8220;supporting radical advocacy groups, threatening banks for refusing to lend to illegal immigrants, targeting a Chicago small business after it complained about the city&#8217;s rampant crime, and mining American citizens&#8217; personal financial information.&#8221;
On The Charlie Kirk Show, Vought discussed the importance of putting a stop to the agency&#8217;s ability to weaponize &#8220;the tools of financial laws against small mom and pop lenders and other small financial institutions.&#8221;
