Earlier this month, the Democratic Socialists of America’s (DSA) top leadership met for an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DZYX2uynYZE/?hl=en&amp;img_index=1">in-person meeting</a> of their National Political Committee (NPC), the DSA’s governing authority. The result of the meeting was “Workers Deserve More!”, a rebooted platform for the organization featuring a host of radical proposals. The document commits DSA to scrapping the U.S. Senate, “abolishing the carceral forces of the capitalist state,” defunding the Department of War, amnesty for all immigrants, and “replac[ing] the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.”
As more and more members <a href="https://www.city-journal.org/article/democratic-socialists-of-america-public-office">seek election</a> to local and national positions, the platform represents a clear statement of the DSA’s views. Its radicalism, therefore, gives a glimpse into how the equivalent of the DSA’s <a href="https://www.dsausa.org/about-us/structure">board of directors</a> — some of whom have appeared to moderate — actually think about politics.
“Workers Deserve More!” emerged from another DSA committee that spent two months grappling with and debating its language. When the NPC took up the document, its presenter urged the DSA to pass it unamended after it cleared the committee unanimously.

Instead, DSA leadership added four amendments: one on “real democracy” — calling for the replacement of “the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress” — another on police and prison abolition, a provision explicitly naming Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state, and a ranked-choice voting section. The NPC passed two of these four amendments unanimously, while the “real democracy” provision prevailed by a razor-thin margin.
“Workers Deserve More!” has revolutionary aspirations. It aims to “win the battle for democracy, draft a new constitution, and create a democratic socialist republic.” The document makes clear that achieving this vision would require “building a new society from the ground up,” accompanied by sweeping structural changes.
To accomplish that goal, the DSA calls for sweeping political and economic changes, including full public financing for campaigns and the abolition of the Electoral College, alongside the establishment of public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries to ensure democratic control and accountability, and strict regulations on investment properties.
It would also defund the Department of War, close overseas bases, and end all economic sanctions, which would include those in states like Iran, Cuba, and Russia. The platform further endorses universal amnesty for illegal immigrants, and ending “restrictions on &#8230; marriage,” which would presumably entail the legalization of polygamy.
The more radical amendments to “Workers Deserve More!” were a product of DSA’s <a href="https://democraticleft.dsausa.org/2025/10/22/keep-dsa-together">big-tent structure</a>, which makes room for multiple political tendencies. This is what has allowed Bernie Sanders devotees and more reform-minded socialists to work alongside self-described Maoists and Communists — the latter of which have tended to push for radicalism within the organization.
The big-tent structure has proved a double-edged sword. It allows the DSA to draw on the political know-how of experienced progressive organizers, as well as the skills of more militant activists in applying political pressure on the streets. Yet that same structure creates real gaps in representation and consensus. NPC member <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DXjqcg9DJ5j/?hl=en">Cliff Connolly</a> noted that “this committee was not multi-tendency. There were several tendencies in DSA that were not represented there,” underscoring ongoing internal friction.
The more extreme members under the big tent tend to push a more militant framework and radical analysis into everything the DSA does. For example, Connolly, a member of the <a href="https://www.marxistunity.com/mugdsa-convention-2025/announcing-our-npc-candidates">Marxist Unity Group</a> caucus, argued, “[W]e’re never going to have democracy or socialism in the United States as long as the president and the Supreme Court exist in their current form. The whole point of having the Senate, the president, and the Supreme Court is so that, if popular legislation passes through the House of Representatives, the ruling class has these other levels they can pull to stop it from happening.” Connolly pointed to the Supreme Court’s blocking President Joe Biden’s student debt relief as a recent example of this dynamic.
<a href="https://reformandrevolution.org/2025/03/20/sarah-m-for-npc-lets-build-a-socialist-party">Sarah Milner</a>, a member of the far-left Reform &amp; Revolution caucus, acknowledged that the platform’s more radical language may be “off putting for people.” But she pointed to Woodrow Wilson’s advocacy for dramatic structural change in American governance. Milner said this amendment “puts forward a vision of transforming the functions of the American state to allow for the implementation of socialism.” One of the NPC co-chairs, Ashik Siddique, admitted that “abolishing the Senate is pretty radical and is something that I think more and more people are . . . seeing that as very reasonable.”
The debate over “abolishing the carceral forces of the capitalist state” also exposed divisions within the DSA. Some factions wondered whether this language could translate into actionable campaigns and demands for DSA candidates; Red Star Caucus’s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reels/DO4AyYzD7nI">Hazel Williams</a>, by contrast, described it as a “basic socialist demand.” Siddique argued that the issue required greater nuance, pointing to Black Liberation organizers and “credible communist organizers” who have advocated for community control of the police rather than full abolition.
Milner, who supported the carceral abolition amendment, acknowledged that this position was far removed from the current practices of DSA candidates and elected officials, but maintained the demand was still important for defining the organization’s political direction. <a href="https://ithacavoice.org/2022/07/katie-sims-becomes-third-candidate-into-race-for-ithaca-mayor">Katie Sims</a> of the <a href="https://www.socialistmajority.com/youtube/v/53hxh3rg2ypy46y2ramb688was43my">Socialist Majority Caucus</a> countered that adopting this position would put endorsed candidates at odds with the DSA’s platform at a moment when the organization was pushing for greater alignment with its elected representatives.
<a href="https://x.com/thestustustudio/status/1982615404275978546">Sidney Carlson White</a>, a member of the Marxist Unity Group, argued that the amendment’s drafters had given elected officials room to work toward its stated goals, including demilitarization, weakening police unions, and redirecting police and prison funding toward public services. White emphasized that the DSA needed to clearly articulate its position, “especially as we have taken executive power in New York and are in places where we are now responsible for the actions of the police.”
Williams returned before the vote to express that she was “disappointed by the arguments against [the prison-abolition amendment]” and clarified her position. She stressed, “the abolition of the carceral elements of the capitalist state is a very specific thing. That’s always what I mean when I mean abolish the police. I don’t mean abolish some community force under communism that can sort of hold each other accountable.” Despite the relatively brief debate, the amendment ultimately passed by a vote of 16 to 8.
The NPC unanimously passed the next two resolutions — on Palestine and ranked-choice voting. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DVd9WPDgYI9">Francesca Maviglia</a> of the Spring of Revolution caucus sought to amend the section related to Palestine to specify Jerusalem’s importance as the “capital of Palestine.” She argued that this is “one of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people” and “a deeply felt issue for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and millions of Muslims around the world.”
Though “Workers Deserve More!” was formally adopted through the DSA’s resolution and proposal process, it effectively serves as the organization’s platform despite not being <a href="https://convention2021.dsausa.org/platform-development">ratified at the convention</a>. By reviving the name of its <a href="https://platform.dsausa.org/">current platform</a>, the DSA appears to be carrying out a soft reboot and rebranding effort aimed at energizing and mobilizing the organization this summer.
One NPC member described it as “what a horizon of power looks like.” NPC members made it clear that “Workers Deserve More!” would make its full debut at the DSA’s “<a href="https://www.dsausa.org/2026-democratic-socialists-summit-general-information">Socialists Summit</a>” national organizing conference in Chicago at the end of July.
The DSA’s governing body, in other words, is on board with the platform’s ideas. And they have openly discussed the need for DSA elected officeholders at least to begin to align themselves. As more and more DSA members take power, the group they belong to keeps getting more radical — a tension they will inevitably have to resolve.

Former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris finally dropped the mask earlier this week, revealing a blueprint for a far-Left coup disguised as &#8220;reform.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.nysun.com/article/with-no-bad-idea-brainstorm-kamala-harris-rains-on-america-in-the-name-of-reform">Speaking</a> to the Win with Black Women podcast, Harris didn’t just suggest policy tweaks; she called for a &#8220;no-bad-idea brainstorm&#8221; that effectively serves as a wrecking ball aimed at the pillars of the American Republic.
“This is a moment where there are no bad ideas,” she pontificated. “‘No bad idea brainstorm’ is what I&#8217;d like to call it. And in that ‘no bad ideas brainstorm,’ we talk about what we need to do and think about doing around the electoral college.’”
That move would effectively disenfranchise millions of Americans in &#8220;flyover country&#8221; to the benefit of deep-blue coastal elites.
Then she launched into her laundry list:

We talk about the idea of Supreme Court reform, which includes expanding the Supreme Court. We invite a conversation about multi-member districts. We talk about, that if we win the Senate — which we should and we will  — then the Senate Judiciary Committee should have rules that they put in place, so when these people come before as nominees to the Supreme Court and lie, that they are held to account and consequence, not just that somebody goes on cable news and says they lied, but that there are rules in place to actually penalize people for lying to a Senate Judiciary Committee. That we agree that it is right to have ethics rules for Supreme Court justices. And let&#8217;s put those in place.
</blockquote>
Of course, the court already adopted its own formal Code of Conduct in late 2023, organized into five &#8220;canons&#8221; that mirror the rules for lower federal judges but are tailored specifically for the Supreme Court. But Harris appears blissfully unaware of that.
To cement this dominance for Democrats after abolishing the Electoral College, she’s pushing for D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood — not out of a sense of civic duty, but to potentially manufacture four permanent Democratic Senate seats.
“Let&#8217;s talk about statehood for Puerto Rico and D. C.,” she continued. “These are the things I think that we&#8217;ve got to do.”
She kept going: “We&#8217;ve got to neutralize these red states from cheating. Including blue states expanding their maps. &#8230; Look, we got to fight fire with fire. These folks are playing to win. We got to play to win, too.”
Harris’s rhetoric about &#8220;neutralizing red states from cheating&#8221; is the height of leftist projection. While she bemoans GOP tactics, she ignores the fact that some Democrat states are so aggressively gerrymandered that Republican districts are practically extinct.

Kamala Demands ‘No Bad Ideas Brainstorm,’ Takes Aim At Pillars Of American Republic

Bringing the United States perilously close to dismantling its constitutional foundation, Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger has signed <a href="https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB965">HB965</a> into law, officially entering the Commonwealth into the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC). The decision has sparked immediate outrage across the state, as critics realize the measure effectively renders the individual votes of Virginians &#8220;null and void.&#8221;
By signing this compact, Spanberger has agreed to hand Virginia’s 13 electoral votes to whichever presidential ticket wins the national popular vote — regardless of how the people of Virginia actually cast their ballots. With Virginia’s entry, the movement is now a terrifying 48 electoral votes away from taking effect. The current total stands at 222 votes, or 82% of the way to the 270-vote threshold required to fundamentally upend American elections.
It is no coincidence that the states rushing to bypass the Constitution represent a monolithic partisan bloc. To date, every single state that has joined the compact is a blue state, moving the country toward a system where a few deep-blue urban centers could dictate the presidency for the entire Union. The list of members includes:

<li data-path-to-node="6,0,0">Maryland, New Jersey, Illinois, Hawaii, Washington, Massachusetts, District of Columbia, Vermont, California, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, New Mexico, Oregon, Colorado, Minnesota, Maine, and now Virginia.</li>
</ul>
This partisan rush to ignore state boundaries flies in the face of Alexander Hamilton’s warnings in <a href="https://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed68.asp">Federalist No. 68</a>. Hamilton cautioned that the Electoral College was not a mere suggestion, but an &#8220;excellent&#8221; system designed to protect the Republic from the very &#8220;tumult and disorder&#8221; that a direct popular vote invites.
The Founders were explicitly wary of a direct popular vote, fearing it would allow a &#8220;demagogue&#8221; with &#8220;talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of popularity&#8221; to manipulate the masses. Hamilton argued that the presidency should not be a prize for the most famous or the most populist, but should be determined by an intermediate body of electors — men &#8220;most likely to possess the information and discernment requisite to such complicated investigations.&#8221;
By moving toward a national popular vote, Spanberger and the NPVIC proponents are discarding what Hamilton called a &#8220;judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements&#8221; proper for selecting a leader. Instead of a deliberative process, the nation is being pushed toward a system where candidates will focus exclusively on high-population urban centers like New York City or Los Angeles, leaving rural and small-state voters entirely ignored.
Hamilton was particularly concerned with the potential for national chaos during an election. He argued that by having electors meet in their respective states, their &#8220;detached and divided situation&#8221; would protect the process from &#8220;heats and ferments&#8221; that might otherwise &#8220;convulse the community with any extraordinary or violent movements.&#8221;
A national popular vote does the exact opposite. It removes the firewall provided by state lines. In a popular vote system, a dispute in a single precinct could trigger a 50-state national recount, creating the very &#8220;tumult&#8221; Hamilton sought to avoid. The Electoral College, by contrast, provides &#8220;effectual security against this mischief&#8221; by containing election disputes within individual states.
Perhaps most frightening is how this move weakens the nation&#8217;s defenses against foreign influence. Hamilton noted that the Electoral College was designed to oppose &#8220;cabal, intrigue, and corruption,&#8221; which he called the &#8220;most deadly adversaries of republican government.&#8221; He believed that a national popular vote would make it easier for &#8220;foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils&#8221; by raising a &#8220;creature of their own&#8221; to the presidency.
The Founders’ system ensured that the Executive was &#8220;independent for his continuance in office on all but the people themselves.&#8221; With Virginia becoming the latest blue state to join this compact, the &#8220;moral certainty&#8221; Hamilton promised — that the office would fall only to those &#8220;endowed with the requisite qualifications&#8221; — is under direct threat.
If 48 more electoral votes are secured, the system that has guided the nation for over two centuries will be sacrificed at the altar of political expediency.

Based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Population and Housing Unit Estimates <a href="https://thearp.org/blog/apportionment/2030-apportionment-forecast-2025/">released</a> on Tuesday, the United States is seeing a significant demographic shift that favors the GOP for the 2030 congressional reapportionment. Despite reporting delays caused by last year&#8217;s government shutdown, the data reveal a massive migration trend toward Southern and &#8220;Sun Belt&#8221; states.
The growth has been concentrated in a handful of fast-expanding states. Texas led the nation, adding 391,243 residents (a 1.2% increase), according to the estimates. Florida and North Carolina followed with significant gains. Overall, nine states gained more than 60,000 residents, including Georgia, South Carolina, and Arizona. Conversely, five states saw net population declines, with California losing nearly 9,500 residents.
Domestic migration is the primary driver of these shifts. California (-229,077), New York (-137,586), and Illinois (-40,017) experienced the largest domestic outflow. In contrast, North Carolina, Texas, and South Carolina enjoyed the highest domestic inflows.
International migration remains a universal growth factor, with Florida (+178,674) and Texas (+167,475) leading that category.
Projections for 2030 suggest a major realignment of political power:

Some Democrats <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leading-dems-wont-confirm-if-theyll-certify-trump-victory-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">had previously been dodgy</a> on whether they would oppose certification.
An <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/23/politics/congress-legislation-january-6-capitol-attack/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">overhaul</a> of the Electoral College Act in 2022 <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senate-democrats-unveil-plan-to-change-electoral-count-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made it harder</a> for lawmakers to raise objections and established that the vice president could not settle these disputes.
Trump, who served his first term from 2016 to 2020, is scheduled to begin his second administration in two weeks with Inauguration Day on January 20.

In yet another attempt to impede Donald Trump from gaining the presidency, on Thursday, The Hill ran an <a href="https://thehill.com/opinion/congress-blog/5055171-constitution-insurrection-trump-disqualification/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opinion piece</a> by two lawyers, one of whom had served as president of the New York City Bar, in which they urged Congress to reject the Electoral College vote in order to stop Donald Trump from being inaugurated as president.
Evan Davis, who once served as editor-in-chief of the Columbia Law Review and later served as counsel to New York Democrat governor Mario Cuomo, and David Schulte, who had served as editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal, later became a friend and <a href="https://www.chicagomag.com/chicago-magazine/felsenthal-files/august-2013/schulte/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">financial supporter</a> of Barack Obama, and is now an investment banker, quoted the 14th Amendment, which states:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

“Disqualification is based on insurrection against the Constitution and not the government,” the authors write. “The evidence of Donald Trump’s engaging in such insurrection is overwhelming. The matter has been decided in three separate forums, two of which were fully contested with the active participation of Trump’s counsel.”
The authors cite Trump’s second impeachment trial, in which Democrats sought to impeach Trump just before he left office. After the House passed the article of impeachment, citing “incitement of insurrection,” on January 13, 2021, by a 232–197 vote, with all 222 Democrats voting in favor, an argument ensued over whether the Senate, which was in pro forma sessions until January 19, could take on the matter. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi transmitted the article of impeachment to the Senate on January 25, five days after Trump had left office. Supporters of the impeachment argued that the Constitution permitted disqualification from holding future office. Trump was acquitted by the Senate on February 13; 57 senators voted in favor of conviction and 43 voted against.
The authors then cite “the Colorado five-day judicial due process hearing where the court ‘found by clear and convincing evidence that President Trump engaged in insurrection as those terms are used in Section Three.’” After the verdict was affirmed by the Colorado Supreme Court, it was sent on appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, which did “not address the finding that Trump had engaged in insurrection,” the authors admitted.
The authors finally cite the House Select Committee that investigated January 6. They argue that evidence from witnesses leads to “the inescapable conclusion &#8230; that Trump engaged in insurrection against the Constitution.”
The authors cite the amended Electoral Act stating that one ground for objection to an electoral vote is if a vote of one or more electors was not “regularly given.” They then offer this supposition: “A vote for a candidate disqualified by the Constitution is plainly in accordance with the normal use of words ‘not regularly given.’ Disqualification for engaging in insurrection is no different from disqualification based on other constitutional requirements such as age, citizenship from birth and 14 years’ residency in the United States.”
They conclude their argument by stating:

To make an objection under the Count Act requires a petition signed by 20 percent of the members of each House. If the objection is sustained by majority vote in each house, the vote is not counted and the number of votes required to be elected is reduced by the number of disqualified votes. If all votes for Trump were not counted, Kamala Harris would be elected president.

Tim Walz, the now-forgotten nominee for vice president, infamously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tim-walz-calls-for-the-electoral-college-to-be-abolished-we-need-a-national-popular-vote">said</a> on the campaign trail, “I think all of us know, the Electoral College needs to go. We need a national popular vote.”
In 2023, Walz signed legislation adding Minnesota to the National Popular Vote interstate compact (NPV). While it hasn’t taken effect, 17 blue states have joined the anti-Electoral College plan.
But why wait? Walz and others who want a national popular vote should act now to give their state’s electoral votes to Donald Trump. If NPV states followed through, Trump would receive 520 electoral votes. Harris would get 18.
The <a href="https://www.electoralcollege101.com/">Electoral College</a> was designed by the American Founders to keep states in charge. It makes presidential elections a two-step, state-based democratic process. This creates important checks and balances. It limits how much power any one state or region can have, which spreads power out across our vast country. It also contains any election problems within individual states, reducing lawsuits and eliminating the possibility of a nationwide recount.
The <a href="https://saveourstates.com/electoral-college/what-is-national-popular-vote">NPV compact</a> is an attempt to undo all this without amending the Constitution. How is this possible? It takes advantage of the power that state legislatures have to decide how presidential electors are selected. Right now, state laws say that voters within each state elect their state’s presidential electors — that’s what last Tuesday was about. The NPV compact would change state laws so that presidential electors are chosen based on nationwide vote totals.
<a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna18053715">Maryland</a> was the first state to join NPV, in 2007, when it was sponsored by then-Delegate Jamie Raskin. Other blue states have followed, including California in 2011, New York in 2014, and <a href="https://www.themainewire.com/2024/04/maine-house-narrowly-approves-national-popular-vote-after-dem-lawmakers-leave-chamber-before-roll-call/">Maine</a> just this year. Together, NPV states have <a href="https://saveourstates.com/electoral-college/the-status-of-npv">209 electoral votes</a>. Yet the compact only takes effect if joined by enough states that they control a majority — 270 electoral votes.
The reason for this “trigger” is not clear. If the compact is legal, then individual states must have the power to give away electors unilaterally. And why not, if they really believe in a national popular vote?
If <a href="https://americanmind.org/salvo/walz-versus-the-electoral-college/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Walz really wants a national popular vote</a>, he should ask the Minnesota Legislature to put NPV into effect now and add 10 electoral votes to Trump’s total. Gov. Jared Polis in <a href="https://www.cpr.org/2019/03/15/colorado-joins-national-popular-vote-movement-with-gov-jared-polis-signature/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Colorado</a>, who signed his state onto NPV in 2019, could do the same thing. Do these politicians really believe in a national popular vote, or were they just seeking partisan advantage?
Every NPV state went for the Harris-Walz ticket. That means that if they all followed through, they would shift all 209 of their electoral votes to the Republicans. Trump-Vance would win with 520 electoral votes. Harris-Walz would get 18.
Of course, NPV states probably can’t change their rules after the election. Voters in those states favored Harris, and so they will elect Democrat-nominated presidential electors. Of course, if any of those Democrat presidential electors believe the popular vote is the right way to choose the president, they could simply choose to cast their votes for Trump and Vance (depending on whether their state has a law to bind presidential electors).

That none of this will happen simply exposes the truth: the NPV compact is a partisan ploy. When the sour grapes of Al Gore’s 2000 election loss were pressed, NPV was the sour wine that flowed out. The movement was created and is still run and funded by <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/22/us/politics/22electoral.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">John Koza</a>, one of Gore’s presidential electors in California. It gained support after 2016, when Trump smashed the blue wall and won the presidency according to the Constitution’s rules but without the popular vote.
The Electoral College rewards whichever party reaches out to build a more national coalition. Trump and Vance did that this year, attracting more support from young and minority voters than Republicans have seen in a generation. Their successful strategy to win the Electoral College has also delivered a popular vote majority.
If blue state legislators aren’t willing to throw their support to Trump, the popular vote winner, there is another course of action they can take: Repeal the National Popular Vote interstate compact, stop trying to manipulate the Electoral College, and focus instead on building coalitions capable of winning future elections.

There is no doubt that President-elect Donald Trump has won a sweeping victory, becoming only the second U.S. president to be elected to a second, non-consecutive term in one of the most remarkable political comeback stories in American history. But his victory in the Electoral College would’ve been even bigger if two factors hadn’t cheated him out of the additional votes he should have received. 
Why do I say this? Because of the jarring errors the Census Bureau <a href="https://www.heritage.org/election-integrity/report/census-bureau-errors-distort-congressional-representation-the-states">admitted</a> it made in its population numbers for multiple states, and its unfair inclusion of aliens in the population used for congressional apportionment. That inclusion <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/05/09/a-bill-to-ensure-fair-representation-for-american-citizens/">dilutes</a> the votes of U.S. citizens, distorting representation in the U.S. House of Representatives and in the Electoral College. 
Let me explain. 
First, the costly errors. In 2022, the Census Bureau issued a report in which it announced that a post-census survey revealed that its count was wrong in 14 states. It undercounted the populations of Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas, while overcounting the populations of Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah. The errors ranged from a low of 1.49% to a high of 6.79%. 
Due to these errors, Florida did not receive two additional congressional seats it should have gotten, Texas lost out on one additional seat, and Minnesota and Rhode Island each retained a seat they should have lost. Colorado received an additional seat it didn’t deserve. 
Since Trump won Florida and Texas, he should have gotten an additional three Electoral College votes from those states. Kamala Harris should have had three Electoral College votes deducted from her total with her wins in Colorado, Minnesota, and Rhode Island. 
Second, the inclusion of aliens, both legal and illegal, in the population used for apportionment also had a significant effect on the election since they are included in the population used to determine how many votes each state is entitled to in the Electoral College. That’s a major reason why liberals fought so hard to prevent a citizenship question being reinstated on the 2020 Census form; they don’t want the citizen population available for apportionment or redistricting. 
We have had an unprecedented, intentionally engineered influx of illegal aliens in the four years of the Biden-Harris administration—at <a href="https://homeland.house.gov/2024/05/22/startling-stats-factsheet-biden-administration-on-track-to-reach-10-million-encounters-nationwide-before-end-of-fiscal-year/">least</a> 10 million. But even before this latest population explosion of illegal aliens that has made the problem even worse, the Congressional Research Service in 2015 issued a <a href="https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/R41636.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on what would happen if apportionment were based solely on citizen population. According to the CRS, that would have shifted seven congressional seats. 
Gaining one seat each (with the 2024 winner noted): Louisiana (Trump), Missouri (Trump), Montana (Trump), North Carolina (Trump), Ohio (Trump), Oklahoma (Trump), and Virginia (Harris). California (Harris) would lose four congressional seats and thus four Electoral College Votes. 
How does all of this stack up? If you exclude the alien population from apportionment and the Electoral College as they should be, and correct the Census Bureau’s mistakes, then Donald Trump should have been awarded an additional nine Electoral College votes, while Kamala Harris should have had six votes deducted from her total. 
The final result with these corrections? As this article was being written, Trump had 295 Electoral College votes to Harris’s 226, with Arizona and Nevada still outstanding. But adjusting for the errors and inclusion of aliens means that Trump actually should have won 304 votes and Harris should only have 220 (not including Arizona’s 11 votes and Nevada’s 6 votes). In a close election, even those numbers could make a difference. 
This fundamental injustice ought to be fixed. There is no excuse for what happened at the Census Bureau. It needs a major review of its personnel, procedures and policies, to determine the cause of its mistakes. It did not make this large a substantive error in the 2010 Census, in which the Bureau’s post-census survey disclosed a mere 0.01 percent overcount. 
Second, there should be a concerted push to add a citizenship question to the 2030 Census form and to change the apportionment formula used by the Census Bureau through legislation such as <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7109" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Equal Representation Act</a> to exclude “individuals who are not citizens of the United States.” 
The mandate won by Donald Trump in both the Electoral College and in the popular vote gives the president the authority and the support of the American people to do the right thing when it comes to ensuring their franchise and protecting the voting rights of American citizens free from errors and foreign interference.

Minnesota Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-walz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tim Walz</a> (D) on Thursday bungled his attempt to clean up the fallout from his extreme call this week to end the Electoral College.
During an interview with Michael Strahan on ABC News, Walz was asked about the far-Left position, noting that it was not the position of Vice President Kamala Harris.
&#8220;The point I&#8217;m trying to make is, is that there&#8217;s folks that feel every vote must count in every state,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I think the sense some folks feel that&#8217;s not the case. Our campaign does that. And the point I&#8217;m saying is, I&#8217;m in five states in two days. We&#8217;re out there making the case that the campaign&#8217;s position is clear, that that&#8217;s not their position.&#8221;
When asked by Strahan if this was an issue that he and Harris disagreed on, Walz responded in-part: &#8220;The campaign and my position is the campaign&#8217;s position.&#8221;

The controversy started when Walz <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tim-walz-calls-for-the-electoral-college-to-be-abolished-we-need-a-national-popular-vote">said</a> at two campaign fundraisers on Tuesday that the “Electoral College needs to go,” which forced the Harris campaign to release a statement claiming that it does not support abolishing the Constitutional mechanism for presidential elections.
“I think all of us know, the Electoral College needs to go. We need a national popular vote,” Walz told donors at California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s home in Sacramento. “So we need to win Beaver County, Pennsylvania. We need to be able to go into York, Pennsylvania, and win. We need to be in western Wisconsin and win. We need to be in Reno, Nevada, and win.”

At an event earlier on Tuesday, Walz told supporters that he is “a national popular vote guy, but that’s not the world we live in.”
Following the Minnesota governor’s call for the Electoral College to be abolished, the Harris campaign claimed in a statement, “Governor Walz believes that every vote matters in the Electoral College and he is honored to be traveling the country and battleground states working to earn support for the Harris-Walz ticket.”
“He was commenting to a crowd of strong supporters about how the campaign is built to win 270 electoral votes. And, he was thanking them for their support that is helping fund those efforts,” the statement added.
The Electoral College was established in Article II and the 12th Amendment of the Constitution, which calls for “Electors” to “meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President.” The system requires presidential candidates to gain support from voters across the U.S. instead of focusing on states and cities with the largest populations.
As governor, Walz has pushed for presidents to be elected by popular vote instead of through the Electoral College. In May of 2023, Walz signed the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact into law, making Minnesota the 17th state to agree to award its electoral votes to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.
Walz is not the only Democrat pushing for the end of the Electoral College. After losing the 2016 election to former President Donald Trump, Democrat Hillary Clinton argued for electing presidents through a national popular vote. While Clinton won the popular vote against Trump, she lost to the Republican nominee in the Electoral College 227 to 304.
During the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign, candidates Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) all called for abolishing the Electoral College while on the campaign trail. Harris said in 2019 that she was “open to the discussion” of abolishing the Electoral College.
“I mean, there’s no question that the popular vote has been diminished in terms of making the final decision about who’s the president of the United States and we need to deal with that,” Harris said.

The backlash was so swift that within just a few hours, Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; campaign team had already issued a statement disavowing Walz&#8217;s comments.

‘We Didn’t Agree To That’: Walz Blasted For Call To Eliminate Electoral College

Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz said on Tuesday that the &#8220;Electoral College needs to go,&#8221; forcing the Kamala Harris campaign to release a statement saying it does not support abolishing the Constitutional mechanism for presidential elections.
At two campaign fundraisers on the West Coast, Walz called for abolishing the Electoral College, arguing that it forces candidates to focus too much attention on a handful of battleground states, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/08/us/politics/tim-walz-electoral-college.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“I think all of us know, the Electoral College needs to go. We need a national popular vote,” Walz told donors at California Gov. Gavin Newsom&#8217;s home in Sacramento. “So we need to win Beaver County, Pennsylvania. We need to be able to go into York, Pennsylvania, and win. We need to be in western Wisconsin and win. We need to be in Reno, Nevada, and win.”
At an event earlier on Tuesday, Walz told supporters that he is “a national popular vote guy, but that’s not the world we live in.”
Following the Minnesota governor&#8217;s call for the Electoral College to be abolished, the the Harris campaign said in a statement, &#8220;Governor Walz believes that every vote matters in the Electoral College and he is honored to be traveling the country and battleground states working to earn support for the Harris-Walz ticket.&#8221;
&#8220;He was commenting to a crowd of strong supporters about how the campaign is built to win 270 electoral votes. And, he was thanking them for their support that is helping fund those efforts,&#8221; the statement added.
The Electoral College was established in Article II and the 12th Amendment of the <a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Constitution</a>, which calls for &#8220;Electors&#8221; to &#8220;meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President.&#8221; The system requires presidential candidates to gain support from voters across the U.S. instead of focusing on states and cities with the largest populations.
As governor, Walz has pushed for presidents to be elected by popular vote instead of through the Electoral College. In May of 2023, Walz <a href="https://www.nationalpopularvote.com/state/mn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact into law, making Minnesota the 17th state to agree to award its electoral votes to the candidate who wins the national popular vote.

Walz is not the only Democrat pushing for the end of the Electoral College. After losing the 2016 election to former President Donald Trump, Democrat Hillary Clinton argued for electing presidents through a national popular vote. While Clinton won the popular vote against Trump, she <a href="https://www.270towin.com/2016_Election/#google_vignette" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lost</a> to the Republican nominee in the Electoral College 227 to 304.
During the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign, candidates Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) all <a href="https://www.axios.com/2019/04/07/electoral-college-2020-presidential-election-candidates" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> for abolishing the Electoral College while on the campaign trail. Harris said in 2019 that she was &#8220;open to the discussion&#8221; of abolishing the Electoral College.
&#8220;I mean, there&#8217;s no question that the popular vote has been diminished in terms of making the final decision about who&#8217;s the president of the United States and we need to deal with that,&#8221; Harris said.

Errors in the 2020 census benefited Democrats and hurt Republicans, and these inaccuracies could make a difference on Election Day.
In 2022, a report from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed that the 2020 census incorrectly counted the American population in at least 14 states, leading some states to lose congressional representation. The report was <a href="https://www.heritage.org/election-integrity/report/census-bureau-errors-distort-congressional-representation-the-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highlighted</a> at the time by Heritage Foundation scholar Hans von Spakovsky, who told The Daily Wire that the errors could benefit Democrats in November.
“The result of the Census errors in Florida and Texas, two red states, should have three more electoral seats that they never got,” von Spakovsky wrote in an email. “Whereas three blue states, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and Colorado, have three congressional seats &#8211; and thus three electoral votes &#8211; they should not have. In a razor thin election, this could make the difference in victory.”
Another Heritage scholar, Stephen Moore, who is also an author and founder of the Club For Growth, brought the report back into the light over the weekend, noting, “A majority of the overcounted states were blue, while a majority of the undercounted states were red.”

Moore included a chart showing that overcounted states included Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah. The error size in New York resulted in a population miscount of +695,422. Minnesota and Rhode Island, whose overcounting resulted in them keeping electoral votes they should have lost, overcounted their populations by 216,971 and 55,457, respectively.
Though Rhode Island overcounted by a smaller amount than the other states (it was still a 5% increase in population, however), it managed to hold onto a congressional seat that it should have lost, the Associated Press <a href="https://turnto10.com/news/local/rhode-island-overcounted-during-the-2020-census-rhode-island-may-19-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> in 2022.

If Rhode Island had counted 19,000 fewer residents – as it should have – it would have lost one of its two congressional seats. Had that happened, the AP reported, that congressional seat would have gone to New York.
As for Florida, it undercounted residents by 750,600. It only needed about 171,500 more residents to gain an extra seat. Texas, too, was undercounted by about 560,000 residents when it only needed 189,000 to gain another congressional seat.
In his analysis of the Census Bureau report, von Spakovsky noted:

After application of the “method of equal proportion,” five states each gained one new congressional seat: Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina, and Oregon. Texas gained two new seats. Due to population decreases, seven states each lost one congressional seat: California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.</blockquote>
These errors can’t be corrected until the 2030 census, which could bring additional, similar errors.
