As of Monday, California owns the highest average price of gasoline at $4.58 a gallon and is facing pressure to head even higher, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. The state's average price is 52% higher over the $3-per-gallon mark hit for the national average, also on Monday.
