Democrats are now becoming desperate and they are trotting out their last line of defense: Celebrities.
Yes, it&#8217;s celebrity time. Now, it&#8217;s always bewildered me that Democrats believe celebrities are really going to move the needle in a major way in favor of their party. It has never worked in my lifetime.
Barack Obama didn&#8217;t need celebrities, he was a celebrity. Hillary Clinton tried using celebrities and failed. Joe Biden really didn&#8217;t have much by the way of celebrity endorsements because his entire campaign was run from his basement.
Well, now Kamala Harris is calling on all of her Hollywood friends to cut endorsements for her.
Members of “The Avengers” cast decided to cut a commercial that is indeed the weirdest commercial ever. They literally end it by shouting “Down with democracy” as they say that Kamala Harris should be the president:

So, yes, that&#8217;s a joke. The problem is, the Department of Justice actually <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-supporter-douglass-mackey-sentenced-to-7-months-in-prison-over-voting-memes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">prosecuted a man</a> named Douglass Mackey back in October of 2023 for this exact same joke.
Mackey had about 58,000 Twitter followers when he tweeted out and texted some information suggesting that black voters should show up late for the election. They prosecuted him and he went to jail. Jimmy Kimmel, however, can apparently do it with no problem at all.

But the desperation is setting in for the Democratic Party. They&#8217;re looking for a closing argument.
Their latest attempt comes courtesy of President Trump himself. President Trump was out on the campaign trail with Tucker Carlson last night in Glendale, Arizona, and he started talking about Liz Cheney. Here is what he had to say:

I actually don&#8217;t like the Chicken Hawk argument. It was crap when it was trotted out against George W. Bush and all of his supporters back in the 2000s and I think it’s crap now. I don&#8217;t think congressmen are sitting there thinking, “Well, it&#8217;s not me, so I&#8217;m just going to send troops.”
The reality is, there are wide differences of opinion about foreign policy among people who have served in the military and people who have not served in the military. So, I don’t like the Chicken Hawk argument because it&#8217;s specious, empty, and foolish.
But that is not the rip on Trump. What they are ripping Trump for is the part where he said, “Let&#8217;s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her&#8230;”
They&#8217;re claiming he wants her assassinated. I&#8217;m sorry, but that’s just not true. It&#8217;s not real. Trump is not calling for the killing of Liz Cheney. He&#8217;s clearly making the exact same argument the entire Left made about the entire Right during the period 2002 to 2008 in which they said, “You guys are really sanguine about sending troops into harm&#8217;s way, but very few of you have served in the military and it would be totally different if you were on the front lines with barrels trained at you.”
Liz Cheney then put out a <a href="https://x.com/Liz_Cheney/status/1852292100844621974">statement</a> saying:
<blockquote>This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.</blockquote>
Listen, it&#8217;s not my fault you can&#8217;t speak English or that you&#8217;re being radically dishonest by taking President Trump out of context.
Then, this was the literal headline today over at <a href="https://www.drudgereport.com/">Drudge</a>:

And then there was this one from the <a href="https://www.the-express.com/news/politics/153330/vile-trump-shot-liz-cheney">Daily Express</a>:

Not a fact. That&#8217;s not remotely what he said. 
This is the stupidest game — and they&#8217;re now playing this game full-time. They&#8217;re finding things that Trump says that are actually unobjectionable on their face. You can disagree with the argument, but the actual language is being skewed and twisted in order to achieve something that Trump never said.

Taylor Lorenz is a reporter with The Washington Post who was roundly ripped last month after she named the woman behind Libs of TikTok, an anonymous Twitter account that retweets videos posted by leftists to expose their radicalism.
On Monday, she posted tweet on the social media site accusing the Drudge Report of threatening to ruin her career.
&#8220;After calling and texting me relentlessly for a week, the Drudge Report editor just called my personal cell phone number, yelled at me when I asked him to leave me alone and said he would &#8216;blast my name all over Drudge Report until it ruins my career,'&#8221; she wrote.
Lorenz has since deleted the tweet..
Lorenz&#8217; accusation was quite serious. Matt Drudge, the reclusive blogger who first reported on Monica Lewinsky&#8217;s affair with President Bill Clinton, runs a tight ship at his Drudge Report (disclaimer: the author of this piece ran the website in the mornings for several years).
The allegation prompted Oliver Darcy, CNN&#8217;s senior media reporter, to reach out to Drudge, who lives on a sprawling compound in Florida.
&#8220;@DRUDGE himself contacted @TaylorLorenz to ask for a correction after she said in tweets that a Drudge editor had harassed her. Drudge told me no one &#8216;associated with the DRUDGE REPORT&#8217; had contacted her prior. Lorenz says her tweets were mostly a joke,&#8221; Darcy wrote on Twitter.
&#8220;WaPo&#8217;s Taylor Lorenz walked back an allegation on Monday that an editor for the Drudge Report had repeatedly harassed her after she was contacted by Matt Drudge himself. Lorenz tweeted Monday that she had bene &#8216;relentlessly&#8217; harassed by a Drudge Report editor who had threatened to use the site to destroy her career. It was a serious allegation and so I checked in with Drudge who told me that he had &#8216;never contacted her, nor has anyone associated with the DRUDGE REPORT.&#8217; Drudge, who made clear to me he was not pleased with the allegations against his site, forwarded me an email he had sent Lorenz asking for a correction,&#8221; Darcy wrote.
&#8220;When Lorenz received Drudge&#8217;s request, she deleted her tweets and posted a clarification: &#8216;For anyone who saw my post abt this man claiming to be from Drudge calling me non stop, good news: I heard from Matt Drudge &amp; this man has zero power over Drudge! He&#8217;s claiming to be an editor all over the internet but he&#8217;s not. Sorry to disappoint everyone saying Drudge is based.&#8217; Lorenz told me that her initial tweets were a &#8216;joke&#8217; and that she found the idea someone could harm her career via the Drudge Report &#8216;hilarious.&#8217; Lorenz said she was &#8216;laughing very hard about the idea&#8217; and was simply joking about it online. &#8216;I am happy to correct the record that I have no drama with Drudge Report,&#8217; Lorenz told me,&#8221; Darcy wrote.
Darcy continued, &#8220;A WaPo spox said: &#8216;Taylor was repeatedly contacted by someone who claimed to be a Drudge editor. As soon as she learned the person had no connection to the Drudge Report, she deleted the original tweet and wrote a tweet apologizing for her comment&#8230;'&#8221;

President Donald Trump ripped the Drudge Report on Tuesday, which for months has posted negative stories about the president and pumped up his opponent, Joe Biden.
The president&#8217;s comments came in response to a Twitter post from Dan Bongino, a conservative radio host who appears often on Fox News. &#8220;Dump Drudge, it’s a non-stop hysteria machine. Use BonginoReport.com for your news, and the leave the hysteria for the panic merchants,&#8221; Bongino wrote.
Trump retweeted the post and added: &#8220;Congratulations Dan. You, Breitbart and others have decimated the business at Drudge. It’s gone the way of the @NBA, ratings down 70%. People want the TRUTH! Drudge Report sold out, suffered a massive &#8216;nervous breakdown.&#8217; Happening @FoxNews also???&#8221;

Matt Drudge has seemingly been cheering for Trump&#8217;s political demise, though he supported him in 2016. &#8220;BIDEN &#8216;91% CHANCE&#8217; OF WINNING,&#8221; says one of his main headlines on Tuesday. No one quite knows why Drudge, who was once a regular visitor to the Trump White House, had his change of heart. Some suggest he sold the site, while others say he is unhappy with Trump&#8217;s inability to keep his campaign promises.
Since Drudge morphed his site into anti-Trump, his number of page views has dropped. &#8220;Current traffic numbers for last month aren’t available yet, but the president is correct about Drudge Report’s declining numbers,&#8221; TheWrap <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/trump-drudge-report-sold-out/">wrote</a> on Tuesday. &#8220;According to Comscore data, the Drudge Report had 1.488 million unique visitors in July 2020 -— the most recent month for which data is available. That’s down 38.0% from July 2019, when the site boasted 2.399 million unique visitors.&#8221;
Trump criticized Drudge in April, retweeting an attack from a conservative blogger who said Drudge&#8217;s coverage of COVID-19 was misleading and sensationalistic. &#8220;I gave up on Drudge (a really nice guy) long ago, as have many others,&#8221; Trump wrote. &#8220;People are dropping like flies!&#8221;
The famously reclusive Drudge, a germophobe who boasts that he hasn&#8217;t been photographed in years, fired back. &#8220;The past 30 days has been the most eyeballs in Drudge Report&#8217;s 26 year-history,&#8221; Drudge said in an <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/18/media/matt-drudge-trump/index.html">email</a> to CNN. &#8220;Heartbreaking that it has been under such tragic circumstances.&#8221;
In September, Trump again slammed the site, saying it &#8220;is no longer &#8216;hot.&#8217;”
“Such an honor! Drudge is down 40% plus since he became Fake News. Most importantly, he’s bleeding profusely, and is no longer &#8216;hot.&#8217; But others are! Lost ALL Trumpers,&#8221; he wrote on Twitter.

Also last month, Trump ripped Drudge after the website led with a report that Trump had been hospitalized with a series of “mini-strokes.”
&#8220;Drudge didn’t support me in 2016, and I hear he doesn’t support me now. Maybe that’s why he is doing poorly. His Fake News report on Mini-Strokes is incorrect. Possibly thinking about himself, or the other party’s &#8216;candidate,'&#8221; Trump wrote on Sept. 1.
Other conservatives have also taken aim at the once-conservative site. Fox News’ Tucker Carlson said in July that Drudge is “now firmly a man of the progressive left.”

‘SOLD OUT’: Trump Bashes Drudge Report, Says Blog Site Suffered ‘Nervous Breakdown’

Matt Drudge is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.
Drudge, 53, has been painting his version of the world for more than 20 years, cherry-picking stories from various news agencies and posting the links on his website, the Drudge Report. But almost no one knows anything about him, so secretive is he.
That’s all about to change with the release of a new book, “The Drudge Revolution,” by journalist Matthew Lysiak. (For the record, the subtitle of the book, which hits book store shelves July 28, is: “The Untold Story Of How Talk Radio, Fox News, And A Gift Shop Clerk With An Internet Connection Took Down The Mainstream Media”).
“Matt Drudge’s impact on the past three decades of presidential campaigns has been well chronicled, no more so than the 2016 election in which many credited Drudge for having propelled Donald Trump through the primaries and into the White House,” Lysiak tells me.
“But now that the reclusive blogger has weaponized his powerful site against the president, what effect will it have over the millions of loyal Drudge Report readers who also make up the president’s base?” he asks.
And Drudge has done just that — “weaponized” his site.
The reclusive blogger has targeted President Trump of late, posting many stories from liberal sites (which hitherto got little play on his site). No one knows why. But even Trump has weighed in on the change: “I gave up on Drudge (a really nice guy) long ago, as have many others. People are dropping off like flies!” the president tweeted in April.
I know a thing or two about Drudge: I’ve known Matt (whom I call “Doc” because of his initials, MD) for more than 20 years and I ran the Drudge Report in the mornings for nearly four years. But even I hardly know the guy: I rarely saw him, and we talked on the phone only a few times a year (usually for hours, but not often).
So as a longtime fan of Drudge and his site, I read Lysiak’s new book with interest. The former investigative reporter with the New York Daily News conducted some 200 interviews and offers some insights into Drudge, including:
● Newly uncovered information about the relationship between Drudge and the Trump campaign, including Team Trump’s nickname for Drudge from former Trump aide Sam Nunberg. “Inside the campaign there was a nickname for Matt Drudge — we called him Lady Drudge,” Nunberg told Lysiak.
● Newly uncovered details about Drudge’s deteriorating relationship with former longtime partner Andrew Breitbart, including how the Drudge Report was used by Breitbart for a “pay-to-play scheme” and “quid-pro-quos.” “Breitbart had other revenue ideas. He entered into a pay-per-click financial arrangement with Reuters that further altered the page,” Lysiak writes.“The Drudge Report was almost like the mafia and would often be used as a henchman for the conservative side … there were absolute quid-pro-quos.”
● Newly uncovered information about Drudge’s turbulent early life, including exclusive interviews with friends, teachers, and classmates, along with information gleaned from court documents. “Physically he’s in good shape, but emotionally he has problems and he’s getting treatment for that,” his mother Claire told a court, Lysiak writes.
● Exclusive new information about how, after breaking the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky story, friends first began to have concerns about Drudge’s mental state. “Matt’s friends began to wonder if something was wrong. They worried that what used to be small glimpses of paranoia were taking a greater hold of Matt’s psyche,” Lysiak writes. “Matt began to think there were spies everywhere.”
● Newly uncovered insights on how Drudge turned the power of his website into political currency. Tim Griffin, former head of research for the Republican National Committee, told Lysiak that “when they needed a story to get out into the mainstream, they would first go to a reporter from The Washington Post, under the condition that a teaser would first go to the Drudge Report. It was a win-win. Griffin would get his story amplified, the reporter would get more page views, and Matt would have his exclusive.”
● Exclusive interviews with former Hillary Clinton adviser Tracy Sefl reveal how the Clinton campaign attempted to use Drudge in the 2008 campaign for president. “We had a very familiar and very regular relationship for a long time,” Sefl told Lysiak. “When he was about to post a story that wasn’t going in Hillary’s favor, I always got a heads up, and sometimes I was able to convince him to change something. Sometimes I wasn’t.”
There used to be a “Fight Club” rule about the mysterious blogger: “The first rule of knowing Drudge is you do not talk about Drudge.”
But that now seems as dead as Doc’s former conservative ways.
