Colorado officials identified the man <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/watch-horrifying-video-shows-moment-plane-strikes-airport-trespasser">killed</a> while walking on the runway of the Denver International Airport last week and said they believe he died by suicide.
Michael Mott, 41, died from multiple blunt and sharp force injuries he sustained when he was struck by a Frontier Airlines Airbus A321 that was speeding down the runway just before takeoff, according to the Denver City and County Medical Examiner’s Office. While authorities said they have not found a suicide note, they believe that Mott wanted to end his life.
“We currently are looking for any notes, computers, anything like that, trying to identify places where he most recently was,” <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/05/12/us-news/officials-reveal-grim-details-in-death-of-trespasser-mutilated-by-frontier-airlines-jet-engine-at-denver-airport/">said</a> Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.
Mott had run-ins with Denver police in the past, according to a department spokesman, who did not say what led to those encounters.
Mott hopped an eight-foot barbed wire fence before casually strolling onto the runway just after 11:00 p.m. local time last Friday. Video footage showed the 41-year-old man slowly walking into the middle of the runway and directly into the path of the plane before the collision.

Mott was ingested into one of the engines of the Airbus A321, sparking a fire and causing passengers to evacuate through the plane&#8217;s emergency slides. Twelve passengers were injured in the emergency evacuation, according to officials.
The Denver International Airport said it has alarms set up to alert staff if someone gets past the airport&#8217;s barriers, but last Friday, the operator on duty “reviewed the alarm and identified a herd of deer just outside of the perimeter fence.”
“The camera view was alternating between the wildlife and the individual. There are some ditches in the area, so the person was out of view for a bit as well,&#8221; Denver International Airport CEO Phil Washington said.
Washington said the airport would conduct a review to look into the incident and better prepare for the future.
“Since this incident, we have been asked, ‘Why don’t you electrify the fence, or ‘Why isn’t the fence tall?’ or ‘Why don’t you use razor wire instead of barbed wire?’” the CEO added. “Safety and security, again, is always our top priority. We don’t want our fence to be deadly, and even if the fence was taller, we believe a motivated individual could find a way to penetrate, that is why we have many layers of security.”

The Trump administration opened an investigation into a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/denver" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Denver</a> school district after one of its schools converted a women’s bathroom into an “all gender” bathroom in the name of “inclusivity and equity,” the Daily Wire has learned. 
The Department of Education told Denver Public Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero on Tuesday that its Office of Civil Rights was probing East High School over its new “&#8217;all gender&#8217; bathroom,” according to a <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2025/01/1-28-2025-Denver-Public-Schools-DI-Letter_FINAL.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> obtained by The Daily Wire. The investigation comes after the school turned an exclusively female bathroom into a bathroom for both males and females over the winter break. 
“According to recent local reporting, the District converted a girls’ restroom in East High School to a multi-stall all gender restroom,” Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor wrote to Marrero. “As a result, East High School now has an exclusive restroom for male students and no restroom for female students on its second floor.”
The investigation will look at whether the new “all gender” bathroom violates the civil rights of female students who no longer have a private bathroom in that part of the school. 
&#8220;OCR’s directed investigation will examine whether the District discriminates against students on the basis of sex by installing multi-stall all gender restrooms in District school facilities, in violation of Title IX and its implementing regulations,&#8221; Trainor wrote. &#8220;Be advised that OCR’s initiation of a directed investigation is not itself evidence of wrongdoing.&#8221;
Earlier this month, East High School <a href="https://east.dpsk12.org/2025/01/03/ntroducing-all-gender-restrooms/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it had turned a women’s bathroom on the second floor of the high school into one for everyone to use, claiming it showed the school’s “commitment to inclusivity and equity, providing a welcoming space for all students.”
The school claimed the stalls were designed for “privacy” and “security,” saying in a frequently asked question <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Yz6A260K-NM6qwHCEVjd4I9VOeUrZjQjB67hIzfSFYs/edit?tab=t.0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">page</a> that “multi-stalled all gender bathrooms do not increase risk of violence or assault.” 
“All gender bathrooms actually benefit the safety of transgender/gender non-conforming students who are at greater risk of violence when forced to use gendered restrooms,” the FAQ page said. 
The change prompted complaints from local parents, who said the move would jeopardize their daughters&#8217; privacy and safety.
&#8220;Administration has sacrificed the comfort of these young females for this dubious change by now limiting their options,&#8221; Loris Ramos told the school board earlier this month, <a href="https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/dps-creates-all-gender-bathroom-east-high-school/73-652a5847-e7af-4362-9b1e-d85dca7dd992#:~:text=When%20students%20at%20East%20High,Schools%20director%20of%20external%20communication." target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to 9News. &#8220;We, as adults, should be protecting students at all costs. Not using minors for this social experiment. This in my opinion is unlawful, immoral and is, in fact, a form of abuse.&#8221;
The district stood by its decision in a statement to The Daily Wire.
&#8220;It is unprecedented for the Office for Civil Rights to admittedly initiate its own investigation, into a single bathroom, as a result of local media coverage rather than in response to a filed complaint requesting their involvement,&#8221; a spokesman for the district said. &#8220;DPS is committed to educational equity, and we will continue to honor the needs of our students.&#8221;
Trainor told The Daily Wire that the decision from the school appeared to be a clear violation of the law. 
“The alarming report that the Denver Public Schools District denied female students a restroom comparable with their male counterparts appears to directly violate the civil rights of the District’s female students,” he said. “Let me be clear: it is a new day in America, and under President Trump, OCR will not tolerate discrimination of any kind. I have directed OCR’s Denver regional office to investigate this matter fully.”
Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office to eliminate radical gender theory and ordered the privacy of women&#8217;s bathrooms preserved throughout the federal government.

The mayors of Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York City were invited to testify before the House Oversight Committee regarding their sanctuary city policies for illegal immigrants.
“Sanctuary jurisdictions and their misguided and obstructionist policies hinder the ability of federal law enforcement officers to effectuate safe arrests and remove dangerous criminals from American communities, making Americans less safe,” committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) wrote in the letters to each mayor.
Comer’s letter requested documents and information related to each city’s sanctuary policies and invited Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, and New York City Mayor Eric Adams to testify on February 11.

Comer also accused sanctuary jurisdictions of taking it “upon themselves to decide what laws they will and will not abide by all for the purpose of shielding removable aliens, especially criminals, from federal law enforcement.”
While there are 12 states and hundreds of cities that qualify as sanctuary jurisdictions, Comer said Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York City “stand out in their abject failure to comply with federal law.”
Chairman Comer will be <a href="https://x.com/GOPoversight/status/1883998691507462467/photo/4">launching an investigation</a> into the mayors, according to a post on X by the House Oversight Committee.
“All four major cities are sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to fully cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, which is impacting public safety and the effectiveness of federal efforts to enforce the immigration laws of the United States,” the tweet states.
The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/boston-mayor-doubles-down-on-defying-trump-deportations-as-ma-police-arrest-migrants-for-child-rape">previously reported</a> on Wu’s plans to defy Trump&#8217;s deportations in November, stating she had no intention of rolling out the welcome mat” for the Trump administration.
“What we can do is make sure that we are doing our part to protect our residents in every possible way; that we are not cooperating with those efforts that actually threaten the safety of everyone by causing widespread fear and having large-scale economic impacts,” Wu said at the time.

A prosecutor in Denver, Colorado, who was fired after she faked inappropriate messages to frame a coworker for sexual harassment, has been disbarred.
Yujin Choi, a prosecutor in the Denver District Attorney’s Office, falsely accused a criminal investigator in the office, Dan Hines, of sexual harassment, The Denver Post <a href="https://www.denverpost.com/2025/01/03/denver-district-atorney-disbarred-false-sexual-harassment-yujin-choi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. A ruling on January 3 by the Office of Presiding Disciplinary Judge, which oversees professional discipline for attorneys in Colorado, determined Choi should be disbarred for her actions.
“Unremitting honesty must at all times be the backbone of the legal profession,” <a href="https://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/2419-OPINION-IMPOSING-SANCTIONS-UNDER-C.R.C.P.-242.31-2.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the ruling</a> said. “When a lawyer repeatedly employs deceit and dishonesty to harm another person, that lawyer corrodes the integrity of the profession and threatens to compromise public confidence in the legal system.”
Choi joined the Denver DA’s office in May 2019 and was fired in November 2022 after an internal investigation found she had lied about her accusations against Hines. She made her first false allegation against Hines in 2021, and even though her accusation hadn’t been proven, he was transferred and told not to contact her. Over the next two years, Hines faced professional and reputational harm due to Choi’s continued false allegations against him. He has filed a lawsuit against Denver District Attorney Beth McCann over his treatment.
“I just felt like it was like a bad dream,” Hines told the Post. “You attempt to hold yourself to a certain standard, and when someone comes along and makes those kinds of allegations against you, it destroys you… I wouldn’t wish this upon anybody. After the first one, when I had no way to disprove it, I was living in hell… I felt there was no way out, that everything I had lived for and stood for was destroyed. I felt like it was an embarrassment.”
Choi’s first false allegations against Hines claimed he made an inappropriate sexual comment to her. He vehemently denied the allegation, and an investigation found no evidence to support Choi’s claim.
“I was told I couldn’t talk about it, but word got out about that allegation, and you can imagine the perception it creates — ‘He must have done something wrong because they moved him,’” Hines told the Post.
He also said that the investigation was incomplete and that leadership at the DA’s office seemed to suggest Choi should be believed – a regular sentiment in the workplace – and that she was courageous for reporting the allegations. A spokesperson for the DA’s office told the Post that the “investigations were handled appropriately.”
In 2022, Choi began her second round of allegations against Hines, this time claiming he sent her inappropriate text messages. She provided purported screenshots of the messages, but when internal investigators searched Hines’ phone, they found he had not sent any messages to Choi. Choi’s records, however, showed Hines had sent her messages.

Investigators went to Verizon to get the correct records and found that Choi had sent herself the messages after changing the name in her phone to make it appear as though the messages came from Hines. The investigation also found that Choi had altered her phone records to include Hines’ phone number before she provided those records to the probe.
When investigators asked to search her phone and laptop, Choi said she had accidentally dropped her phone in the bath and spilled water on her laptop computer, which destroyed the devices just days before they were supposed to be examined. The disciplinary panel found her explanation “not plausible.”
Hines also told the Post that he hopes his lawsuit will change the way internal investigations are conducted. He is seeking a public apology for the handling of Choi’s first allegation and wants to see her charged for her actions, though prosecutors have already declined to bring charges.
Few, if any, prosecutors are ever disbarred for their actions, no matter how grievous. One famous example is Mike Nifong, who pursued a case against innocent Duke Lacrosse players even after it became clear their accuser was lying.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said this week that Republican governors needed to ship illegal aliens in their states to Denver after far-Left Denver Mayor Mike Johnston vowed to protect them from being deported after President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who sits on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rand-paul-denver-mayor-will-likely-be-removed-from-office-if-he-obstructs-ice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> CBS News on Sunday that Johnston would be removed from office if he resisted federal immigration authorities.

Denver Democratic Mayor Mike Johnston said there would be mass public resistance if President-elect Donald Trump implemented a mass deportation effort of illegal immigrants from federal forces, likening it to a “Tiananmen Square moment.”
On June 3, 1989, after weeks of student moments in Beijing, China, the Chinese communist government declared martial law and sent troops to Tiananmen Square. Government troops entered central Beijing on June 4; many people — estimates range from hundreds to thousands — were killed, including demonstrators, bystanders, and soldiers.
“About 42,000 migrants have arrived in the Denver metro area since December 2022, about 1,800 of which have now been authorized to work as a result of city-led efforts,” Common Sense Institute Colorado <a href="applewebdata://926BF661-1120-4327-B61A-CF2D43490CEE/v">reported</a> in May 2024. “The Common Sense Institute estimates city, education, and healthcare organizations have spent an estimated $216 million to $340 million on the response to feed, clothe, shelter, and provide educational and healthcare services. &#8230; The uncompensated care to migrants in Denver area hospitals is estimated to cost $123 million to providers for care received at emergency departments. &#8230; To date, the City of Denver has spent an estimated $70 million in migrant response goods and services.”

Asked by <a href="https://denverite.com/2024/11/20/denver-immigration-policies-donald-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Denverite</a> if pressure from the incoming Trump administration would change how Denver treats immigrants, Johnston answered, “The short answer is, we won&#8217;t change that, because those are one of our core values. And we&#8217;re not going to sell out those values to anyone. We&#8217;re not going to be bullied into changing them. &#8230; I think we are gonna continue to be a welcoming, open, big-hearted city that&#8217;s gonna stand by our values.”
Johnston insisted that taking the right to work away from illegal immigrants would “cripple the American economy.” He said of the idea that Trump might elect to use federal forces to round up illegal immigrants, “I do not believe that our governor is going to let them use our [Colorado] National Guard at the state level. Unless they were planning on bringing national guards mobilized from Texas or Alabama to come invade Colorado, I don’t know where they would find the forces to begin to do that.”
“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston continued. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right?” You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”
Johnston may have conflated the Tiananmen Square massacre, where there was no evidence of someone confronting soldiers with a rose, to a moment on October 21, 1967, when roughly 100,000 people marched on Washington, D.C., to demonstrate against the war in Vietnam. Then a Magnum photographer, Marc Riboud documented proceedings. A famed <a href="https://www.magnumphotos.com/newsroom/politics/behind-the-image-protesting-vietnam-war-with-flower/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">photograph</a> showed 17-year-old Jan Rose Kasmir holding a chrysanthemum flower up to a group of National Guard soldiers.

An illegal alien from Venezuela was charged with raping a 14-year-old girl in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/colorado" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Denver, Colorado</a>, after the city’s Democrat mayor pledged that he would resist President-elect Donald Trump’s plan to enforce immigration law and deport illegal aliens.
The 20-year-old Venezuelan national, <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/11/21/us-news/venezuelan-migrant-charged-with-raping-bosss-teen-daughter/">Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo</a>, was arrested this week after allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl, the daughter of his boss, whose home he was temporarily living in.
“Castillo forced himself on the 14-year-old daughter of the homeowner, sexually assaulting her. He left the residence before deputies arrived,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office explained in a post on X.

“After many weeks of relentless investigative work, JCSO investigators were able to locate Castillo in Denver, CO., and placed him in custody without incident,” the office went on to say. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reportedly filed a detainer request for Castillo and are requesting that the sheriff’s office deliver him to federal custody.
Castillo is believed to have illegally entered the United States by way of El Paso, Texas, under the Biden-Harris administration in September 2023.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston, a Democrat, <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/mayor-predicts-tiananmen-square-moment-trump-deportation-plan-1989655">recently said</a> that he would resist attempts by the federal government to enforce immigration law, even indicating that he could use police in an attempt to keep federal law enforcement out of the city.
“More than us having DPD stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston <a href="https://denverite.com/2024/11/20/denver-immigration-policies-donald-trump/">threatened</a>. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment with the rose and the gun, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”
Johnston’s statements, and the arrest of the illegal alien, come after a similar series of events unfolded in Massachusetts. The state’s Democrat governor, Maura Healey, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-gov-refuses-to-help-deportations-as-ice-busts-alleged-illegal-alien-child-rapists-in-her-state">pledged</a> that state police will “absolutely not” cooperate with federal law enforcement agents as they attempt to carry out the mass deportation agenda.
The Democrat’s statements came just before ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents in the state arrested three illegal aliens who each allegedly raped children, including one who was freed by a local police department after it allegedly flouted an immigration detainer request from ICE.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Denver Broncos</a> wide receiver Josh Reynolds was shot in the arm and back of his head after he said he was followed leaving a strip club in the city on October 18.
On Thursday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter <a href="https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1849561294979940425">reported</a> that 29-year-old Reynolds is “said to be OK after being the victim in a shooting Friday in Denver.”
According to documents obtained by <a href="https://www.9news.com/article/news/investigations/denver-bronco-josh-reynolds-shot/73-f51bf502-5129-4dd1-bad8-a4495be20909">9News</a>, Reynolds and two other men made several calls in the early morning hours into 911 saying that there had been a shooting.
The first call came in from the driver, who said he’d been shot. A second person called and said they were being followed and that two people he was with had been shot. A third call came in and said he was with people who had been shot. 
The documents noted that all three calls, via GPS tracking, came from the same basic location. When police arrived, they located the victims, with Reynolds being listed as shot twice, once in the back of his head and once in his arm, the report noted.

The other man had been shot in the back, and a third man was injured by shattered glass.
The documents show police spoke to three men about what happened before the shooting, and when asked if there had been any problem at the club earlier in the evening, all three said no.

The three described how after they left the club, they were followed by several vehicles before they were shot at. Their vehicle was later located with “numerous bullet defects in the back driver-side and front windshield,” the report noted. Two men have since been arrested in the case.
Reynolds &#8212; who was already on the injured reserve list for an injured finger &#8212; had remained in Denver and did not fly out with the rest of the team to New Orleans for the Broncos game against the Saints last Thursday. On October 12, he suffered an injury against the Las Vegas Raiders.
“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” a statement from the NFL team read. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”
Reynolds was picked up in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. Two years later, he signed on with the Tennessee Titans before he joined the Detroit Lions. In March 2024, he joined the Broncos after signing a two-year, $9 million contract.
The wide receiver has 12 catches for 183 yards and one touchdown so far this season, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/10/24/sports/broncos-josh-reynolds-shot-after-leaving-denver-area-strip-club/?utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New York Post</a> noted.

The town council of Castle Rock outside of Denver has voted unanimously to explore legal action against the city for welcoming more than 42,000 immigrants since December 2022.
Castle Rock Town Councilmember Max Brooks introduced a motion during a September 3 meeting that would direct the town’s attorney to research legal recourse against Denver over a flood of migrants that have entered the city and spread out to surrounding suburbs. Other municipalities are considering joining Castle Rock in fighting Denver’s immigration policies, according to Brooks.
“This isn&#8217;t just a decision that Denver gets to make because it&#8217;s impacting the rest of the Front Range. So the idea is to join with other municipalities and say it&#8217;s time to stop,” Brooks told <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/castle-rock-explores-lawsuit-against-denver-migrant-policies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CBS News Colorado</a>. “Our town attorney&#8217;s office has already had conversations with the county attorney with Douglas County, already had conversations with the city of Aurora, and also had conversations with the city of Parker.”
Officials from Denver’s surrounding areas have complained about migrants, and sometimes dangerous gang members, spreading out of the city. Officials in Aurora have said that members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan-based gang, are wreaking havoc on local communities.

“We currently have entire complexes under gang control — complexes where staff have been beaten up, they&#8217;ve been threatened, their families have been threatened [and] complexes where there are no staff left on the property,” Aurora City Council Member Danielle Jurinsky <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/sanctuary-citys-policies-push-violent-migrant-gang-suburbs-nationwide-problem" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> last month. “These complexes are being run by this Tren de Aragua gang.”
“They start brokering apartments themselves when someone leaves out of fear or whatever. They go in and take pictures of the apartment themselves. Then, I&#8217;ve been told, within hours, a Venezuelan family moves in,” Jurinsky said.
Denver has <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/denvers-new-asylum-seeker-program-provide-rental-assistance-migrants/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> immigrants a raft of benefits, including six months of paid housing and a bus ticket to elsewhere in the state or country. The city has planned to spend an estimated $90 million on services for newly arrived migrants who claim to be seeking asylum in the United States.
Castle Rock’s move toward legal action is about changing Denver’s approach to immigration, not about extracting compensation, according to Brooks.
“I don’t want a dime from Denver, I just don’t want them to continue to have a policy that is having a negative impact on the Front Range,” Brooks said.
“You don’t wait until the hurricane is on you to board up your windows and leave town. We understand that there is a storm coming,” he added.

The video footage reported by <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/video-shows-armed-gang-troubled-colorado-apartment-building-believed-have-been-taken-over-migrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox News</a> on Thursday shows multiple armed men walking through an Aurora apartment building and entering an apartment after knocking on the door with guns drawn. Jurinsky told Fox News earlier this week that the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua (TdA), has taken control of apartment complexes in the city.

A resident who moved out of the apartment building on Wednesday because of the gang activity told Fox News on the condition of anonymity, &#8220;This is organized. They patrol the property with guns visibly, like they&#8217;re not trying to hide them. There&#8217;s no repercussion. These are ghosts.&#8221; The resident added that gang members are dealing drugs in the building.

TdA members have been known to work throughout the U.S., and one member of the gang, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/illegal-immigrant-charged-with-laken-rileys-murder-is-active-gang-member-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jose Ibarra</a>, was arrested and charged earlier this year for the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley.
Aurora, which is a suburb of Denver, has been affected by the migrant crisis in Colorado&#8217;s capital. Since December 2022, more than 40,000 illegal immigrants have arrived in Denver, and city officials have cut police, sheriff, and fire department funding to deal with the crisis.
