<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">During the multinational technology and e-commerce company&#8217;s annual</span> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22cb24-sGhg"><span style="font-weight: 400;">MARS conference</span></a> <span style="font-weight: 400;">in Las Vegas, Alexa head scientist Rohit Prasad unveiled the virtual assistant technology&#8217;s latest feature. Instead of Alexa&#8217;s so-called normal voice reciting the words of your favorite novel, now her voice can transform into that of a loved one who recently passed away reading your favorite bedtime story.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;We are unquestionably living in the golden era of AI,&#8221; Prasad said. &#8220;Where our dreams and science fiction are becoming a reality.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Prasad paused for a moment while a video appeared of a young child in his bedroom talking to Alexa, who has a panda bear&#8217;s face.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Alexa,&#8221; the boy said. &#8220;Can grandma finish reading me ‘The Wizard of Oz’?”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;OK,&#8221; Alexa responded. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Alexa immediately turns her voice into the boy’s grandmother&#8217;s and reads the excerpt where Oz reminds the Lion to have courage as long as he has confidence in himself.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Prasad tells the audience that through this feature, Alexa will enable &#8220;lasting personal relationships.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The technology makes those relationships happen by producing a high-quality voice recording in less than a minute versus hours of recording in the studio.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He said the company made it happen by framing the problem as a voice conversion task rather than generating speech.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As the words &#8220;Human-like empathy&#8221; slowly zoomed in on a giant screen behind Prasad, he said &#8220;companionship relationship&#8221; surprised him the most about Alexa.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;In this companionship role, human attributes of empathy and affect are key for building trust,&#8221; he said. &#8220;These attributes have become even more important in these times of the ongoing pandemic when so many of us have lost someone we love.&#8221;</span></p>

<p>Caleb Swanigan, a former first-round NBA draft pick and Purdue University first-team consensus All-American, has died at the age of 25.</p>
<p>His family confirmed Swanigan&#8217;s death, which has been attributed to <a href="https://www.wane.com/news/local-news/caleb-swanigan-former-nbaer-dead-at-25/">natural causes</a> according to the Allen County Coroner&#8217;s Office, on Tuesday.</p>
<p>&#8220;The Purdue basketball family is deeply saddened and devastated at the loss of Caleb Swanigan,&#8221; Purdue coach Matt Painter said in a <a href="https://fox59.com/sports/a-gentle-soul-coach-painter-purdue-community-reacts-to-caleb-swanigans-death/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>.</p>

<p>Swanigan later returned to the Trail Blazers following a January 2020 trade before being released after the 2020 season.</p>
<p>Swanigan previously starred as a top college athlete at Purdue University. Purdue Sports <a href="https://purduesports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/caleb-swanigan/564" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> that during the 2016-2017 season, &#8220;Swanigan had one of the most dominant seasons in college basketball history, earning first-team consensus All-America and Big Ten Player of the Year accolades. He was a finalist for the Wooden, Naismith and Oscar Robertson Player of the Year Awards and was named the recipient of the Pete Newell Big Man of the Year Award.&#8221;</p>
<p>His final season with Purdue also included setting a Big Ten record with 28 double-doubles, the 13th most by a player in NCAA history, Purdue Sports stated. Swanigan was also only the eighth player in Big Ten history to lead the league in both scoring and rebounding.</p>

<p>Swanigan&#8217;s personal story was both difficult and inspiring. CBS Sports <a href="https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/10-nba-offseason-questions-russell-westbrook-kyrie-irving-to-be-traded-will-zion-williamson-get-max-deal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that, &#8220;Swanigan&#8217;s father, Carl, died from diabetes-related causes in 2014, prior to Caleb enrolling at Purdue. Swanigan&#8217;s path to Purdue was carved when former Purdue star Roosevelt Barnes, who coached Swanigan in grassroots basketball, took him in and became his guardian in Fort Wayne, Indiana.&#8221;</p>
<p>The report also noted that Barnes adopted Swanigan during his teen years, claiming the decision &#8220;led Swanigan down a path in basketball that turned him into one of the best high school prospects in the country.&#8221;</p>

<p>Two Florida deputies have each been suspended over leaking the news of Bob Saget&#8217;s death before his family had been notified.</p>
<p>The Orange County Sheriff&#8217;s Office announced the suspensions of 81 hours without pay for each officer on Monday.</p>
<p>“This case highlights how important it is to allow detectives in death investigations the time to ensure next of kin notifications are made before that information is disseminated to the public,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said in a <a href="https://apnews.com/article/entertainment-florida-orlando-bob-saget-295bbc6088b20f5e0ce359ce636ed352" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>.</p>
<p>“The deputies acknowledged their wrongdoing and were disciplined for their actions,&#8221; the statement added.</p>
<p>The report explained that one of the deputies told his brother about Saget&#8217;s death, who then posted the information online. The other officer, who was off-duty and not assigned to the investigation, mentioned Saget&#8217;s death to a neighbor ahead of the family&#8217;s notification.</p>
<p>Page Six reported in March that both Kelly Rizzo, Saget&#8217;s wife, as well as a crew member on &#8220;Fuller House&#8221; confirmed that Saget was not feeling well at the time of his death.</p>
<p>“The records released tell the entire story — that is, Bob passed away after a fall and hitting his head in his hotel room,” the Saget family’s attorney, Brian H. Bieber, shared in a statement on behalf of Rizzo, <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/03/24/bob-sagets-widow-stands-by-autopsy-amid-claim-he-felt-ill/?utm_source=P6Twitter&amp;utm_medium=SocialFlow&amp;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;crl8_id=3ff6062c-bcb8-4e3f-8b2e-38269f59b130">reported</a> Page Six.</p>
<p>“Now that the medical examiner’s and police department’s records have been released after their respective thorough investigations, the Saget family would appreciate privacy to mourn in peace,” the statement to the outlet added.</p>
<p>As The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bob-sagets-widow-speaks-out-about-latest-info-regarding-her-husbands-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, an audio clip from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office revealed that showrunner Rosalie Cocci told authorities that the “Full House” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/officials-release-new-information-about-final-moments-before-bob-saget-died">star</a> claimed his hearing was “off” and he was dealing with a “sore throat” before he took the stage at the concert hall where she works in Orlando on January 8, <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2022/03/23/bob-saget-stage-crew-showrunner-covid-sick-hearing-issues/">reported</a> TMZ.</p>
<p>The event occurred the day before news surfaced that he was found dead in his hotel room. Cocci also said Saget was suffering from “long-term COVID” following the official autopsy report that determined he had died from blunt head trauma, as <a href="https://pagesix.com/2022/02/10/autopsy-reveals-bob-saget-had-multiple-skull-fractures/?_ga=2.189027883.1654567991.1648069798-212677189.1646695496">reported</a> previously by the outlet.</p>
<p>Saget’s family filed a lawsuit against the Orange County Sheriff’s office in February to block the release of records related to his death. In March, a Florida judge granted a permanent injunction in favor of the family&#8217;s request.</p>
<p>Saget family attorney Brian Bieber released a statement on behalf of the family following the ruling.</p>
<p>“The entire Saget family is grateful that the Judge granted their request for an injunction to preserve Bob’s dignity, as well as their privacy rights, especially after suffering this unexpected and tragic loss. We are pleased this issue has been resolved, and the healing process can continue to move forward. All of the prayers and well wishes continuously extended to the family are beyond appreciated,” Bieber told <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/14/entertainment/bob-saget-injunction/index.html">CNN</a>.</p>
<p>An autopsy previously revealed Saget died from &#8220;blunt head trauma&#8221; that included internal bleeding and other injuries likely resulting from a fall in his hotel room.</p>

<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">The Idaho Statesman </span><a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/local/community/boise/article262687227.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">reported</span></a><span data-preserver-spaces="true"> that the rafting accident occurred near the Gem County Island Sports Complex in Emmett.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">“Volunteers and rescue crews have spent the past eight days combing the area for Jackson. A volunteer found the body two miles downstream from where he disappeared,” the outlet reported. “A family member positively identified his body.”</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">“Family members on social media said the 21-year-old and his girlfriend missed their exit and tried to paddle back to a dock. She was able to cling to a branch, but Jackson was reportedly pulled away in the current,” </span><a href="https://www.wbrz.com/mobile/cleanStory.cfm?n=152102"><span data-preserver-spaces="true">according to</span></a><span data-preserver-spaces="true"> KTVB-TV.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">A Gem County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/806941092748281/">warned</a> of the Payette River’s hazardous conditions just two days before Jackson’s disappearance.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">“Rivers in the area are running at fast speeds and high-water levels. Even if the water looks calm, rivers can be extremely dangerous. When rivers are higher[,] they’re faster[,] and they’re colder than normal,” the post stated.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">“Current conditions make rivers and canals much more dangerous. Avoiding the rivers and canals at this time is strongly suggested,” it added.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) expressed his family’s condolences on Monday at the news of Jackson’s death.</span></p>
<p><span data-preserver-spaces="true">“Becky and I are praying that the Lord comforts the family and friends who are grieving over the tragic passing of Everette Jackson,” he wrote.</span></p>

<p>The 47-year-old shared the news with her fans in an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CfAcUFnjt4Q/">Instagram post</a> on Sunday. She revealed that her father, who she called a &#8220;precious, quiet soul,&#8221; had died on May 14. In the post, she shared a video of her playing the guitar and singing what she called his favorite song, &#8220;The Way I Am&#8221; by Merle Haggard. She didn&#8217;t offer any other details about his passing.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m often private about certain sacred pieces of my life and I share them as, and if, I am ready,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;My daddy, Beamon Nettles, died last month on May 14th. He was a precious, quiet soul who made his way gently in the world.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">An autopsy released on Monday revealed that Tyre Sampson, 14, was almost 100 pounds over the weight limit for the FreeFall ride at Orlando’s ICON Park when he fell to his death. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sampson’s autopsy showed that his death was the result of both internal injuries and external injuries which included trauma to his head, neck, and torso, <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/06/13/tyre-samson-florida-teen-who-died-from-amusement-park-ride-fall-was-100-lbs-over-limit/">according</a> to The New York Post. The document also recorded the teen’s weight at 383 pounds. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The publication noted that the FreeFall ride weight limit is 287 pounds.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Be careful when seeing if large guests fit into the seats,” a manual for the ride says. “Check that they fit within the contours of the seat and the bracket fits properly. If this is not so — Do not let this person ride.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sampson died in March after slipping out of the safety harness while the 430-foot-tall ride was about halfway down. A video of the tragic accident went viral on social media after a crowd of people witnessed the tragedy. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Per the Post, ride operators had apparently adjusted Sampson’s harness to allow him to ride before the accident. His friends said that the teen football player had been turned away from other rides at ICON Park because he was too large to fit on them.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to witnesses, Sampson knew he was not correctly fitted in the seat while on the ride. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“When the ride took off, that’s when he was feeling uncomfortable,” Tyre’s father Yarnell Sampson said, as </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/family-of-14-year-old-who-died-at-amusement-park-starts-petition-to-close-ride"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by The Daily Wire. “He was like, ‘What’s going on?’ That’s when he started freaking out, and he was explaining to his friend next to him, ‘I don’t know man. If I don’t make it down, please tell my Mom and Daddy I love them.’ For him to say something like that, he must have felt something.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Amusement park ride safety analyst and consultant Ken Martin told </span><a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/orlando-freefall-amusement-park-ride-safety-expert-says-someone-killed-teenager-charges-should-be-filed"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Fox News</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that the teen’s death was “criminal” and preventable.   </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Once Mr. Sampson got on the ride, the ride operator should have come around, attempted to pull the shoulder harness over him and lock it,” he said. “We all saw that. We know that the shoulder restraint did not come down where it was supposed to be and that, you know, is an issue.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sampson’s family has several lawsuits pending in regards to Tyre’s death, which they claim was the result of gross negligence. </span></p>

<p>Experts and families of healthy, young people who have suddenly died are speaking out about Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, or Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome, known more commonly as SADS.</p>
<p>SADS, <a href="https://www.racgp.org.au/clinical-resources/clinical-guidelines/key-racgp-guidelines/view-all-racgp-guidelines/genomics/sudden-arrhythmic-death-syndrome#:~:text=SADS%20is%20an%20umbrella%20term,undetermined'%20or%20'unascertained'.">according</a> to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), &#8220;is an umbrella term to describe unexpected deaths in young people (usually 40 years of age), whose cause of death following post mortem examination is ‘undetermined’ or ‘unascertained.’”</p>
<p class="css-knga07-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">“She worked for an advertising company and was doing really well,&#8221; said Margherita Cummins, whose daughter Catherine Keane died suddenly at age 31. &#8220;She went to the gym and walked 10,000 steps every day.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cummins <a href="https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/heartbreak-young-irish-woman-who-27098294?_ga=2.211462610.614193924.1654464517-1781433683.1654464511">told</a> the Irish Mirror last month that her daughter&#8217;s flatmates found Catherine&#8217;s dead body after she didn&#8217;t come down for breakfast.</p>
<p>“They sent her a text at 11.20am and when she didn’t reply, they checked her room and found she had passed,&#8221; the mother recalled. &#8220;Her friend heard a noise in her room at 3.56am and believes now that is when she died.”</p>
<p>Another family lost their healthy 19-year-old son from the mysterious disease in April of 2021, 7News.com.au <a href="https://7news.com.au/news/public-health/families-open-up-about-terrifying-condition-claiming-lives-of-healthy-young-people-c-7091421">highlighted</a>.</p>

<p>&#8220;Liam had everything going for him in life he was learning to drive, looking forward to planned concerts with his friends, many a road trip out and planning the new University life, when everything was cruelly taken from him,&#8221; the post continued. &#8220;All his hopes and dreams gone and stolen from us as well!&#8221;</p>
<p>Dr. Elizabeth Paratz, from Melbourne’s Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, <a href="https://7news.com.au/news/public-health/families-open-up-about-terrifying-condition-claiming-lives-of-healthy-young-people-c-7091421">said</a> the Victorian registry shows &#8220;there are approximately 750 cases per year of people aged under 50 in Victoria suddenly having their heart stop.&#8221;</p>
<p class="css-knga07-StyledParagraph e4e0a020">“Of these, approximately 100 young people per year will have no cause found even after extensive investigations such as a full autopsy,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>Paratz noted that &#8220;the numbers had remained tragically consistent over the years,&#8221; according to 7News.com.au.</p>

<p>RACGP says on their <a href="https://www.racgp.org.au/clinical-resources/clinical-guidelines/key-racgp-guidelines/view-all-racgp-guidelines/genomics/sudden-arrhythmic-death-syndrome">webpage</a> that &#8220;the most common SADS conditions include genetic arrhythmia syndromes such as long QT syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) and Brugada syndrome.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;These conditions follow an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern,&#8221; RACGP details. &#8220;Therefore, first-degree relatives (ie parents, siblings, children) of an individual who has a genetic arrhythmogenic disorder are at a 50% risk of also having a gene variant for the condition, and thus, at risk of developing the condition. All these conditions show considerable clinical variability within families and have incomplete penetrance.&#8221;</p>

<p>Three people have been charged in the death of a Russian woman, described as a webcam model, who plunged from a balcony in Thailand last month.</p>
<p>Evgenia Smirnova, 37, died on May 31, after falling 80-feet from an eighth-floor balcony of an apartment complex, reportedly attending a &#8220;sex party&#8221; where drugs and condoms were recovered by authorities.</p>
<p>Smirnova was in just her underwear, with a clump of hair in her hand when she was found, reports say.</p>
<p>Jamaal Smith, Ahmad Alatoom, and Natalia Kosenkova have been charged with recklessness causing the Russian woman&#8217;s death, The Sun <a href="https://nypost.com/2022/06/11/suspects-charged-in-death-of-russian-model-evgeniia-smirnova-who-fell-80ft-to-her-death/">reported</a>.</p>
<p>Kosenkova, a 35-year-old model and DJ, has maintained that she is innocent and Smirnova&#8217;s death was an &#8220;unfortunate incident.&#8221;</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">&#8220;The case is not complicated because we are not guilty,&#8221; Kosenkova said, according to a Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10881899/Pictured-Russian-model-37-fell-80ft-death-apartment-sex-party-Phuket.html">report</a> published June 3.</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">&#8220;The only thing I can say is that this was an unfortunate incident, but it was not a murder, and none of the people involved are to blame,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;We were held in a cage, but they let us go.&#8221;</p>
<p>Kosenkova denied Thai media reports that they were at a &#8220;sex party,&#8221; claiming it was a typical &#8220;boozefest.&#8221;</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">&#8220;It was a regular boozefest &#8211; someone dies here every day,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>The model also told the press that she had not met Smirnova, described by The Daily Mail as a webcam model, until the night of the incident.</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">&#8220;I didn&#8217;t know Evgenia until that evening,&#8221; Kosenkova said. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t know the girl, she just came to the party where we were. And she called her friend [Ahmad Radi Mustafa Alatoom], who came, too, and behaved inappropriately. I can say that me and my friend [Jamaal Antwaun Smith], who I have known for a long time, behaved with dignity and decency.&#8221;</p>
<p class="mol-para-with-font">&#8220;The police trust us,&#8221; she said at the time. &#8220;The police say they are not worried about us. &#8230; I am just a tourist here… I&#8217;m an ordinary tourist.&#8221;</p>
<p>Smith, Alatoom, and Kosenkova could face 10 years behind bars if convicted.</p>

<p>&#8220;Goodfellas&#8221; actor Ray Liotta&#8217;s daughter, actress Karsen Liotta, finally broke her silence following her dad&#8217;s shocking death last month at the age of 67.</p>
<p>In a touching tribute <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CemqVmhv12Q/">shared</a> Thursday on Instagram, the 23-year-old actress wrote about what a great dad the late &#8220;Identity&#8221; star was and how everyone who knew him &#8220;loved him.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Those who knew him, loved him,&#8221; Liotta&#8217;s daughter wrote. &#8220;You are the best Dad anyone could ask for. I love you. Thank you for everything.&#8221;</p>
<p>The &#8220;Shades of Blue&#8221; star also shared a sweet picture of her as a little girl wearing a sleeveless red and white striped sun dress and being held by her dad. It is unclear how long ago the picture was taken, but it was the first picture the actress has shared on her social media account since 2020, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/ray-liotta-daughter-breaks-silence-death">Fox News</a> noted.</p>
<p>The legendary actor shared Karsen with his ex-wife Michelle Grace.</p>

<p>The &#8220;Wild Hogs&#8221; star <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-goodfellas-star-ray-liotta-dies-at-67">passed away</a> in his sleep in May while in the Dominican Republic shooting his next film, &#8220;Dangerous Waters.&#8221;</p>
<p>Liotta burst onto the scene in the late 80s with roles in &#8220;Something Wild&#8221; and &#8220;Field of Dreams.&#8221; The actor became best known for his role as gangster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese&#8217;s 1990 crime classic &#8220;Goodfellas,&#8221; alongside movie giants Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.</p>
<p>Lorraine Bracco, who played his wife in &#8220;Goodfellas,&#8221; reacted to the news of his death <a href="https://twitter.com/Lorraine_Bracco/status/1529868934463234048?s=20&amp;t=vbA7OVRi8kn0_nF0oKUXIg">in a post</a> on Twitter.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray,&#8221; Bracco tweeted. &#8220;I can be anywhere in the world &amp; people will come up &amp; tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same…Ray Liotta.&#8221;</p>
