As tensions in Minnesota continue to flare up over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions and allegations of rampant fraud, far-Left actors and activists have decided that it would be expedient to inflame the issues further. So, it shouldn&#8217;t come as a shock that the teachers unions and their activist allies have chosen to join in and provoke further unrest and strife.
In fact, a recent <a href="https://x.com/BGOnTheScene/status/2011524444905435353">video</a> posted on X claims to show K-12 students and teachers in Saint Paul, Minnesota walking out of school in protest over ICE. Days later the Saint Paul Federation of Educators (SPFE) put out a <a href="https://x.com/JennaReports/status/2011493535812338109?s=20">statement</a> calling for its members to engage in a “Day of Action” and stating that there would be “no work, no school, and no shopping.” Unsurprisingly, the communiqué comes with a list of demands such as the removal of ICE from the state and the defunding of the federal agency.
The organization of “educators” then publicly proclaimed that it was “on the side” of the students, while simultaneously shutting down schools in a district where roughly 70% of all elementary students are not <a href="https://www.usnews.com/education/k12/minnesota/districts/saint-paul-public-schools-104201">proficient</a> in math and reading. However, SPFE and its members are sending a clear message that their top priority is not the education of the children and families they serve, but far-Left social justice activism.
Unfortunately, this is a feature, not a bug, of the dominant ideology permeating the Gopher State’s education system writ large. Social justice activism is now the primary ethos of a system corrupted by Left-wing political actors who have been turning classrooms into street activist training programs in service to a Revolutionary Industrial Complex.
In the Colleges of Education, for instance, teacher candidates are conditioned into far-Left political ideas that are often sold to budding educators as “best practices.” Future K-12 instructors are then expected to incorporate these ideas into their own methodologies.
For example, Minnesota State University Mankato’s College of Education <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/minnesota-state-university-mankato-corrupted/">states</a> in its “Conceptual Framework” that the teacher training program’s vision is to “inspire lifelong learning and professional engagement through racial consciousness, social justice, and inclusion.” The program aims to prepare “anti-racist practitioners” by using Critical Race Theory (CRT) as a foundational framework focusing on privilege, oppression, systemic racism, and social justice activism. In fact, future elementary school teachers are required to take a course titled “ED 101 – Introduction to Critical Race Theory in Education.”
But it is not just the training of teachers that is problematic. Some university programs are offering free lesson plans and resources to K-12 teachers that promote Left-wing biases and agendas.
Such is the case with the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’ Race, Indigeneity, Disability, Gender &amp; Sexuality Studies (RIDGS) program, which has <a href="https://defendinged.org/investigations/liberated-university-of-minnesota-twin-cities/">created</a> and made publicly available ethnic studies lesson plans for K-12 schools that are riddled with far-Left ideologies promoting youth activism. For instance, a sixth-grade lesson titled “Protest Art &amp; the Movement for Black Life” focuses on the Black Lives Matter movement and how to “create their own protest art for a cause of their choice.” The multi-day plan reads like a revolutionary training program meant to prepare eleven-year-olds for some yet to be determined protest.
However, if there is any doubt about these ideologies trickling out of the universities and into K-12, look no further than Saint Paul Public Schools’ (SPPS) <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/liberated-saint-paul-public-schools/">critical ethnic studies</a> curriculum. A 2023 RIDGS report on the deeply divisive course highlights the “seven principles” students are taught throughout the year, including “critical consciousness” and “resistance.” According to statements included in the document, students learned about “protests” and “civil disobedience” and were inspired by the Third World Liberation Front.
Like SPPS, Minneapolis Public Schools’ (MPS) <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/minneapolis-public-schools-ethnic-studies-course-teaches-students-that-capitalism-and-western-culture-is-exploitative-and-leads-to-slavery-colonialism-genocide-and-white-supremacy/">ethnic studies</a> courses are also saturated with revolutionary dogmas. In one of the classes, students learn to “challenge the ‘white savior’ narrative” and that slavery, genocide, and white supremacy all stem from capitalism and Western culture. Naturally, the course in question also includes student activism.
So, it should come as little surprise that K-12 students from both SPPS and MPS appear to be <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/2026_Twin-Cities-Student-ICE-protest-chat.pdf">planning</a> their own mass &#8220;strike” and “walkout” over ICE. Of course, it is highly probable that they are getting “guidance” from parents, teachers, and local activists.
While Minnesota’s streets heat up during the dead of winter, parents and the public need to be aware that far-Left actors inside and outside the education system have been preparing teachers and students for years to be street activists and protestors.
Local and national leaders, first and foremost, need to ensure that the youth and their teachers can peacefully exercise their First Amendment rights safely. But there also needs to be investigations into the Revolutionary Industrial Complex that has taken over Minnesota’s entire education system. Families, students, and communities deserve better from their education system.

In March, the Trump Administration issued an <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/03/restoring-truth-and-sanity-to-american-history/">Executive Order</a> (EO) calling for a restoration of “Truth and Sanity to American History” which included a review of the Smithsonian Institute Museums. Now, the Administration is making good on that EO.
Naturally, politicians, Left-wing media, and the far-Left are pouncing with charges of &#8220;Stalinist tactics,” “fascism,” and “Trump’s historical vision.”
Yet, the most glaring example to justify the Administration’s action is the now <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/smithsonian-race-guidelines-rational-thinking-hard-work-are-white-values-1518333">infamous</a> Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture’s &#8220;Aspects and Assumptions of Whiteness in the United States.&#8221;
But it is not just the one museum, the American Art Museum also features a <a href="https://americanart.si.edu/furthering-conversation-about-whiteness">page</a> titled “Furthering the Conversation About Whiteness.”
While the auditing of these institutions is probably overdue and necessary, there also needs to be a spotlight put on the teaching of culture and history in our educational institutions, especially K-12 schools.
The defensive position from the Left is that they just want to teach “<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/27/opinions/teachers-union-critical-race-theory-schools-weingarten">honest history</a>.” Meant to sound noble, this is nothing more than wordplay. It is misdirection in an attempt to hide their heavily curated and far-Left [re]vision of history.
“Honest history,” as they will have the public believe, is just teaching the history of “underrepresented groups” to highlight their contributions to the United States. However, peel back the feel-good façade and it is clear there is a political agenda to advance anti-American, anti-Western ideologies – i.e. anti-“whiteness.”
In the context of K-12 education, there is no clearer example of this than [liberated/critical] ethnic studies.
Sold to school districts, parents, students, and the public writ large as the teaching of history and culture of minority groups, it is a far-Left radical political programming.
It is agitprop being deployed on children into K-12 schools. Amping up their emotions, preying on their empathy, and then feeding them politically biased content.
It’s general framework begins with a heavy focus on a student’s various racial and ethnic “identities,” or intersectionality. The intention is to create a strong tribal attachment to the student’s collective identities.
It then introduces “<a href="https://www.newsmax.com/politics/critical-competency-consciousness/2023/12/07/id/1145144/">critical consciousness</a>,” which trains students to find racism and oppression everywhere in their lives. Driving them into a constant state of anxiety and fear.

For example, a recent Castro Valley Unified School District ethnic studies <a href="https://cvk12ca.community.highbond.com/document/cf8c0982-2db8-464f-83da-7932fab50636/">presentation</a> to the district board demonstrates this via student art which states “As an Asian American, racism is prevalent all around me.”
Ethnic studies activate deep feelings of anger and resentment in students towards the United States, and even towards their white teachers and peers.
A <a href="https://cla.umn.edu/ridgs/ethnic-studies-initiative/ethnic-studies-evaluation-projects">review</a> of Saint Paul Publics Schools’ ethnic studies program by the University of Minnesota highlights several students’ reflections on the course. One anonymous student stated &#8220;Why would a course about being critical have white teachers? My school has one [B]lack teacher teaching it. How can we be critical if we don’t listen to the voices who are firstly impacted? Also, white teachers even if they mean well will implement their own biases that students will have to deal with.”
The political programming continues by creating heroes, legends, and mythology through the intentional curation of historical events and peoples that have modeled “resistance” against whiteness. Examples include <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/ethnic-studies-course-features-poster-of-che-guevara-on-wall-includes-content-focused-on-white-supremacy-and-privilege/">Che Guevara</a>, the <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/scotts-valley-unified-school-district-ethnic-studies-course-teaches-students-that-capitalism-heterosexism-and-ableism-are-systems-of-oppression-and-forms-of-oppression-requires-students-to-part/">Black Panther Party, Angela Davis</a>, and even a defense of <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/san-francisco-unified-school-district-provides-resource-to-social-studies-and-ethnic-studies-teachers-that-claims-israeli-terrorism-has-been-significantly-worse-than-that-of-the-palestinians-reso/">anti-Israel</a> activism and terrorism.
Finally, students are taught and required to engage in far-Left social justice activism. Under the guise of “Youth Participatory Action Research,” students are trained to become street <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2023/11/20/staley-k-12-student-demonstrations-equity-double-standard/">activists</a> for the flavor-of-the-day far-Left cause.
Eventually, the goal is to embed it into every single subject area and <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/santa-rosa-city-schools-ethnic-studies-courses-feature-critical-race-theory-whiteness-and-social-justice-activism-paid-ethnic-studies-consultant-530000-over-four-years/">curriculum</a>. They admit this outright.
In California, San Rafael City Schools <a href="https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=36030430&amp;MID=24501&amp;enIID=fBHmEqAHmyvMJ3CrfpluszzjQ%3D%3D&amp;srch=ethnic+studies&amp;ktype=Exact&amp;Tab=Agenda">contracted</a> with the University of California Berkeley’s <a href="https://ucbhssp.berkeley.edu/ethnic-studies">History-Social Science Project</a> to integrate ethnic studies “concepts and pedagogies” into the district’s World and U.S. history courses.
The university’s site states that it is assisting teachers and districts in integrating the “<a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/13h6vVmJEeVyk1XdBAGZDuxMiZjLhhoYD4loNz7NSlck/copy">CA Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum</a>” into courses, which includes helping teachers “familiarize themselves with&#8230;critical race theory, intersectionality, which are key theoretical frameworks and pedagogies.”
This issue is not about the actual teaching of culture and history; it is about how far-Left actors are advancing their cultural revolution via the long march through American institutions.
While the Administration and public focus their attention on the national museums, heavy scrutiny must simultaneously be placed on the teaching of “honest history” and ethnic studies in K-12.
The advancement of anti-American and anti-Western ideologies need to be removed from classrooms.

A radical professor is teaching a new seminar at Harvard University in which she touts two-time failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams as a “political mastermind.”
The class, titled “Race, Gender, and the Law Through the Archive,” and taught by assistant history professor Myisha Eatmon, investigates “the role that Black women and non-binary people have played in shaping politics, grassroots organizing, the legal bar, and higher education during Jim (Jane) Crow and beyond.”
Abrams served for 11 years as a Georgia state representative before losing to Republican Brian Kemp in 2018 and 2022. Though she has never held federal office, the Ivy League course places her alongside leading black female figures of 21st century politics.
“From First Lady Michelle Obama to political mastermind Stacy Abrams to Vice President Kamala Harris, Black women have left their stamp on 21st-century politics and grassroots organizing,” the seminar description reads, misspelling Abram’s first name.
The class is taught by Harvard assistant history professor Dr. Myisha Eatmon. Eatmon’s work focuses on “the intersection of race, power, and law, with expertise in how African Americans have employed their &#8220;legal imaginations&#8221; to challenge &#8220;systemic oppression.”
“How did these people navigate gender and sexuality while pushing for civil rights? How did gender, sexuality, and intersectionality impact their political ideologies?” The course asks students.
It promotes a subjective understanding of the law in line with Critical Race Theory, and claims that “students will see the subjectivity of the Black women and non-binary people who helped push for social and legal reform.”
Eatmon’s narrative of systemic oppression and intersectionality mirrors some of Abrams’s own statements.
After losing her first gubernatorial election by a narrow margin, Abrams claimed the election was stolen from her. She <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/09/29/stacey-abramss-rhetorical-twist-being-an-election-denier/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">walked back</a> on her statements when she ran again in 2022, saying that unlike Trump, she “never denied the election” and “never denied that I lost.”
She did say, however, that the election was “flawed.”
“I refuse to concede a system that permits citizens to be denied access,” she said. “That is very different than someone claiming fraudulent outcome.”
Adams filed and ultimately lost a lawsuit challenging Georgia’s election laws, funding the multimillion dollar legal battle through one of her voting rights nonprofits, as The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/another-stacy-abrams-nonprofit-could-be-in-trouble?author=Leif+Le+Mahieu&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Another+Stacy+Abrams+Nonprofit+Could+Be+In+Trouble" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously reported</a>. In a separate lawsuit, another one of Adams’ nonprofits was penalized for providing millions of dollars to her campaign.
Abrams <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/31/stacey-abrams-president-2040-109869" target="_blank" rel="noopener">predicted</a> in 2020 that the United States would elect a black female president in the next 20 years, and suggested that it might be herself. She later tweeted that 2028 “would be the earliest I would be ready to stand for president.”
However, Democrats themselves don’t appear to view Abrams as a “mastermind,” with many <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/5297972-democrats-stacey-abrams-2026-midterms-georgia-governor-race/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dismissing</a> the idea of an attempted third run for governor in 2026.
“There’s not a lot of energy…or a large appetite within the state of Georgia amongst Democrats for a third Abrams run,” said Georgia Democratic strategist Fred Hicks.

A federally-funded education program warned teachers that babies could be racist and pushed other forms of DEI and transgender ideologies on educators, The Daily Wire can exclusively report.
A new report from the Functional Government Initiative (FGI) reveals just how deeply woke ideology has permeated Head Start, a government program that provides education and other services to children three to five. Head Start held webinars for teachers on “anti-bias and anti-racism strategies Head Start programs can use in their practices, services, and systems.”
One webinar warned that even infants “discriminate between faces by race” and that “babies can categorize people by gender and race.”
Head Start also embraced transgender ideology, referring to pregnant women as “birthing parents” and “pregnant people” in social media posts. The program also proposed ways to make activities for children “more inclusive,” including by changing the lyrics to “Old MacDonald Had A Farm.”
“Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O And on that farm he/she/they had a pig, E-I-E-I-O,” the updated lyrics read.

“Head Start now promotes radical diversity, equity, and inclusion ideology, peddling a divisive world view on the government’s dime,” the FGI report reads. “A microscope must be applied to the program to assess how, where, and why our taxpayer money promoted controversial political ideologies antithetical to the real progress America has made for children and families.&#8221;
The 2020 presentation, titled “Anti-Bias Teaching and Learning Environments in Head Start Programs,” sought to foster “anti-bias learning environments” and warned of “implicit bias.”
“Explore children&#8217;s understanding of race and identity development,” the seminar description states. “Discover strategies to promote anti-bias practices through supportive interactions and activities with children.” The presentation outlined the “four core goals of anti-bias education” of identity, diversity, justice, and activism.
Another presentation dealt with “Personally-Mediated Racism in Early Education” and featured a graphic with the phrase “They’re not too young to talk about race!”

“Apply a racial equity lens to all Head Start policies AND funding,” reads a slide titled “Addressing Racism in Early Childhood.”
Yet another presentation encouraged teachers to talk to young children about race.
“If we commit to collectively trying to talk about race with young children, we can lean on one another as we, together, envision a world where we actively challenge racism each and every day,” the slide said.

Head Start was <a href="https://acf.gov/ohs/about/head-start">launched</a> in 1965 and offers a variety of services to children from impoverished families. Program benefits are administered throughout the country by partner organizations, including school districts, non-profits, and faith-based organizations, which provide medical assistance, nutritional support, and education to eligible families.
Head Start also encouraged teachers to read texts on critical race theory, including the 1619 Project from Nikole Hannah-Jones and “How to be Antiracist” by Ibram X Kendi.
In September 2022, Head Start teamed up with Sesame Street to push for “racial justice” in childhood education. Sesame Street used the occasion to showcase new characters, including one that encouraged “black pride” among children.

A project of the Department of Health and Human Services, Head Start has funded organizations that cater to illegal aliens. The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation has received nearly <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/recipient/6c9a2ff8-db6c-4013-7cc9-de4f348b510f-C/all">$33 million</a> in federal grants to support the administration of the Head Start program across its various locations. The organization simultaneously offers free and discounted <a href="https://maof.org/community-development/immigration-services">legal services to illegal aliens</a>.
The organization offers assistance with applications for the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which shelters some illegal aliens from deportation.
Head Start did not respond to a request for comment.
Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro slammed Head Start in an April episode of &#8220;The Ben Shapiro Show,&#8221; calling the program &#8220;one of the great fails in federal history.&#8221;
&#8220;The data on Head Start has been pretty solid for a long time showing effectively no difference between kids who go to Head Start and kids who do not.&#8221;

The Department of Education has given nearly $101 million in grants to train training K-12 social workers in leftist ideology, an education watchdog has found. 
Parents Defending Education unveiled its “GrantEd &#8211; Social Work”<a href="https://defendinged.org/investigations/granted-social-work/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> report</a> on Wednesday, highlighting how universities taking federal dollars for their social work programs have embedded “social justice” into their curriculum. Since 2021, the Department of Education has given at least $100,964,880 in grants to 25 universities ostensibly for their “mental health” programs. Parents Defending Education said that the money is going to back programs that promote radical leftist ideology and seek to train leftist activists. 
“On the surface, these federal grants were given out to help mitigate mental health issues; in practice, the grant funds went to support programs that explicitly advance social justice ideologies based in critical race theory that include anti-racism and DEI,” the report found. “In fact, the vast majority of university social work programs that we reviewed prioritize anti-racism practices and social justice activism.”

At the same time, the school offered a <a href="https://iussw.sitehost.iu.edu/social_work/_documents/_syllabus/507%20Combined%20Syllabi.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">class</a> called “Diversity, Human Rights, and Social Justice,” which focuses on Critical Race Theory and white privilege. The goal of the class is for students to “to develop critical consciousness in order to gain competencies to address diversity, privilege and oppression in social work practice.”
In April 2023, Portland State University, which was <a href="https://ktvz.com/news/government-politics/2023/04/11/dept-of-education-awards-1-6-million-to-help-osu-psu-train-school-based-mental-health-professionals/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a>  $1,189,801 by the Department of Education to increase the number of social workers. 
DEI principles are built into the school’s master of social worker program, the stated <a href="https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A42f35593-1dd0-3ca0-b163-1b9431eec989&amp;viewer%21megaVerb=group-discover" target="_blank" rel="noopener">goal</a> of which is to train social workers to dismantle “ systems of oppression; builds racial equity and social, political, and economic justice.” 
It’s purpose is to “deliver a social work education that is critically informed, theoretically driven, empirically supported, reflexive, ethical, vigilant and resistive to colonial, heteropatriarchal, classist, and white supremacist agendas.”
A spokeswoman for Portland State told The Daily Wire that the university existed &#8220;to advance social mobility and meet the current and future workforce needs of the state by making the transformative power of higher education available to anyone who wants to pursue a college degree.&#8221;
&#8220;We serve all learners and strive to create a welcoming campus environment for all,&#8221; the spokeswoman added. &#8220;We don&#8217;t believe the orders will impact any of our current programs or activities because we have always operated within the law. We will continue to work with internal and external partners to evaluate any potential impacts and provide guidance as needed.&#8221;
Other social work programs with similar classes include the University of New Hampshire ($3.8 million in federal <a href="https://www.wmur.com/article/unh-grant-mental-health-services-schools/43909663" target="_blank" rel="noopener">funding</a>), the University at Buffalo ($3.5 million in federal <a href="https://www.buffalo.edu/news/releases/2024/11/social-work-grant-address-shortage-rural-areas.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">funding</a>), and the University of Washington ($4.2 million in <a href="https://socialwork.uw.edu/news/university-washington-receives-42-million-grant-includes-health-equity-component/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">funding</a> with a health equity component). 
&#8220;The goal of UNH’s social work program is to prepare students for licensure and careers in social work,&#8221; a spokeswoman for the University of New Hampshire told The Daily Wire, saying that its programs adhered to the to the accreditation standards of the Council on Social Work Education.
Parents Defending Education said that more universities would be added to its report as it uncovers more grant recipients. 
Erika Sanzi, the director of outreach for Parents Defending Education, said that the Education Department should not be funding ideological social work programs. 
&#8220;School social workers did not use to spend years marinating in highly ideological courses about privilege, oppression, racial capitalism, and white supremacy, but today, in public and private universities, this is common practice,” Sanzi said. “While this is obviously disturbing, the fact that the U.S. Department of Education has been funding it since 2021 is a major red flag. How can a social worker help students become the best version of themselves if they see them as oppressors with unearned privilege?&#8221;
Under President Donald Trump, the Education Department has taken steps to slash DEI funding. Last month, the department announced that it had cut $600 million in grants with groups that trained teachers and educational agencies in “divisive ideologies.” 
Trump has also issued an executive order that directs federal funding be cut for entities pushing DEI initiatives.

President Donald Trump is reportedly set to sign an executive order that would &#8220;facilitate the closure” of the Department of Education. 
A draft of an executive order to begin dismantling the department has been prepared and could be signed sometime on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/draft-of-trump-executive-order-aims-to-eliminate-education-department-5315c3a4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Trump has repeatedly said that he would like to shut down the department and return education fully over to the states. 
“The experiment of controlling American education through Federal programs and dollars—and the unaccountable bureaucrats those programs and dollars support—has failed our children, our teachers, and our families,” a draft of the order obtained by the Journal and labeled “pre-decisional” reads. 
The draft directs Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to “take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Education Department” to “the maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law.”
McMahon, who was confirmed on Monday, released a <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/speech/secretary-mcmahon-our-departments-final-mission" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> that same day on the department&#8217;s &#8220;final mission&#8221; promising to “restore the rightful role of state oversight in education and to end the overreach from Washington.”
“As you are all aware, President Trump nominated me to take the lead on one of his most momentous campaign promises to families,” she said. “My vision is aligned with the President’s: to send education back to the states and empower all parents to choose an excellent education for their children.”
Trump campaigned on getting rid of the Education Department, saying that it had been used to indoctrinate American school children. 
“I say it all the time, I’m dying to get back to do this. We will ultimately eliminate the federal Department of Education,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-department-of-education-may-be-on-the-chopping-block-what-could-that-look-like" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> at a September rally in Wisconsin. “We will drain the government education swamp and stop the abuse of your taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America’s youth with all sorts of things that you don’t want to have our youth hearing.”
According to legal experts, eliminating the Education Department &#8220;would require a filibuster-proof, 60-vote majority in the Senate,&#8221; the Journal noted.
Under Trump, the Department of Education has already taken steps to end the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and radical gender ideology. 
In February, the department <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/education-dept-slashes-600-million-in-grants-promoting-divisive-ideologies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slashed</a> more than $600 million in grants with groups that trained teachers and educational agencies in Critical Race Theory and DEI. The Department of Health and Human Services is spending more than $400,000 in taxpayer funds to research the alleged role of “structural racism’s” effects on substance use and HIV outcomes.
The University of California Los Angeles will receive <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_R01DA061345_7529">just under $440,000</a> from the National Institute on Drug Abuse as it works to blame differences in HIV and substance abuse treatment outcomes on an overarching system of oppression.
“It is well established that racial disparities in HIV care outcomes and use of substances among sexual minority men (SMM) of color persist because of structural racism in Los Angeles County,” the abstract’s opening line <a href="https://reporter.nih.gov/search/tOdEyhgo1UaPJS0JbgaWsQ/project-details/10986884">claims</a>.
The UCLA study seeks to “interrogate” how “historical racist practices influence unequal spatial patterns and how such unequal structural factors are associated with distinct patterns of movement across social and geographic space” among black and Latino “sexual minority men.”

The description for the grant program, which began in September 2024 and extends until July 2029, explains that the academics will use “Critical Race Praxis” and “intersectional anti-racism frameworks.”
It goes on to explain the alleged necessity of the study, arguing that “understanding how structural racism influences how BLSMM navigate the geography of LAC to receive SU and HIV care and how peer case managers, with racial and SU congruence, may enhance access to care will provide novel insights into the relationship between racism and HIV and SU treatment.”
UCLA will collaborate with researchers at the University of California Santa Barbara and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-government-to-drop-over-1-5-million-funding-lgbt-youth-mentorship-and-campus-activism">recently reported</a> is set to receive $1.5 million from the Department of Health and Human Services to fund its youth mentorship and campus activism programs.
The UCLA study is one of many ideologically-tinged projects set to receive government funding. The Department of Health and Human Services has also agreed to fund the University of Houston study on “systemic inflammation” caused by “fear of deportation,” The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/government-to-fund-study-on-fear-of-deportation-leading-to-systemic-inflammation">reported</a>.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has also been used as a vehicle to advance far-left ideology, with a Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/27-of-national-science-foundation-grants-went-to-dei-projects-study-finds">investigation</a> revealing that 27% of all grants from the NSF went to support diversity, equity, and inclusion projects. Among the leftwing pet-projects raking in taxpayer funding through the NSF was a project at Columbia University to “decolonize geoscience” and another complaining that the academic peer review process is racist.
A representative for the UCLA study did not respond to a request for comment.

The Department of Education said Monday that it had slashed more than $600 million in grants with groups that trained teachers and educational agencies in “divisive ideologies.” 
The canceled grants went toward things like workshops grounded in Critical Race Theory and professional development focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The action comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month directing the removal of “anti-American ideologies” from public schools and ending federal funding for grants or contracts pushing leftist ideology. 
The grants <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-education-cuts-over-600-million-divisive-teacher-training-grants">funded</a> training in Critical Race Theory, DEI, social justice activism, “anti-racism,” and instruction on white privilege and white supremacy, according to the Education Department. Other grants went toward teacher recruitment programs that were &#8220;implicitly and explicitly based on race.” 
Under some of the training that was paid for by taxpayers, teachers were required to take responsibility for “systemic” racism and instructed on how to respond to racism, ableism, “gender-based” discrimination, homophobia, and ageism. 
Sessions were called things like “Building Cultural Competence,” “Dismantling Racial Bias,” and “Centering Equity in the Classroom,” according to the department. 
One grant application was focused on providing “targeted practices in culturally relevant and responsive teaching abolitionist pedagogies and issues of diversity in classroom management.”
Parents Defending Education, a conservative group that has pushed for the removal of leftist ideology from schools across the country, praised the move from the Education Department. 
&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to overstate how radical these teacher trainings are—we are talking about forcing teachers to talk about their race at work, asking educators to &#8216;take personal and institutional responsibility for systemic inequities,&#8217; promoting abolitionist teaching practices and defining equity as equal outcomes,” Parents Defending Education Director of Outreach Erika Sanzi told The Daily Wire. “And not for nothing but all we see are declining outcomes for the students that these trainings purport to help most.&#8221;
Trump has pushed for major reform in the Education Department, even suggesting that he might abolish it entirely. Part of the overhaul has been mandating that federally funded schools stop promoting racial and gender ideologies. 
“Such an environment operates as an echo chamber, in which students are forced to accept these ideologies without question or critical examination,” Trump wrote in his <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> on education last month. “In many cases, innocent children are compelled to adopt identities as either victims or oppressors solely based on their skin color and other immutable characteristics.  In other instances, young men and women are made to question whether they were born in the wrong body and whether to view their parents and their reality as enemies to be blamed.”

Kendi</a> is seeing his Boston University &#8220;Center for Antiracist Research&#8221; (CAR) close when its charter with the college expires on June 30, per the university’s <a href="https://www.bu.edu/articles/2025/ibram-x-kendi-departing-boston-university/">website</a>.
The center currently has 12 staff members who will remain employed until the June closure. CAR was founded in 2020 following the massive public outcry stemming from the death of George Floyd. The center faced declining contributions and support beginning in 2023, when donors began to question what, if anything, the center was producing. 
The announcement comes after Kendi said he was leaving Boston University to become the director of the newly created Howard University Institute for Advanced Study in Washington, D.C.

Boston University noted that in September 2023, &#8220;with public support having shifted and contributions waning,&#8221; the center &#8220;pursued a new strategy under Kendi,&#8221; which &#8220;included eliminating 19 staff positions.&#8221; Kendi was accused of financial mismanagement, but an audit done by BU found no evidence of wrongdoing, per <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/center-anti-racist-research-close-down-2024015">Newsweek</a>.
In the past, the center has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ibram-x-kendis-academic-center-focusing-on-antiracism-to-fire-staffers">sponsored projects</a> like creating an “antiracism curriculum,” an “antiracist book festival,” and “antiracism training for the workforce.”
The center described itself as &#8220;a full-service organization that translates antiracist ideas into action by unifying research, policy, narrative, and advocacy efforts. We take a rigorous, research-based, and integrative approach to transforming a racist society to an antiracist one.” 
It faced criticism for not producing any tangible research or assets during its existence despite being receiving millions of dollars in grant money and <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2025/01/30/ibram-kendi-howard-university-bu/?isMobile=1">more than $50 million</a> in donations.
Kendi, whose real name is Ibram Henry Rogers, is the author of books like “Antiracist Baby” and “How to Be an Antiracist.” 
He said in a statement: “Despite all the headwinds we faced as a new organization founded during the pandemic and the intense backlash over critical race theory, I am very proud of all we envisioned, all we created, all we learned, all we achieved—the community we built, the people we helped and inspired.” 
Kendi concluded, “To all the faculty, staff, administrators, students, supporters, and Boston community members, I feel honored to have been able to do this work with you over the last five years. I am departing for an opportunity I could not pass up, but what connected us at CAR remains, especially during this precarious time. Our commitment to building an equitable and just society.”

A Pentagon official and member of the United States Air Force hosted a panel discussion that pushed Critical Race Theory, with academics and a former member of the military claiming that America’s public school system has a “white middle class problem” and that racism is “part of the fabric” of the United States, a video obtained by The Daily Wire reveals.
The August, 2021 talk, part of a broader series called “Crucial Convos,” was titled “Critical Race Theory. What is it?” and included endorsements of the far-left theory from academics and a former member of the military.
The event was organized by a team including Brigadier General Terrence Adams, who stated during the talk that “this is not a military event at all, it was a grassroots effort to talk about different topics.” Multiple Air Force <a href="https://www.302aw.afrc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/2360805/crucial-conversations-come-to-peterson/">bases</a> have <a href="https://d34w7g4gy10iej.cloudfront.net/video/2204/DOD_108916513/DOD_108916513-1024x576-2000k.mp4">advertised</a> <a href="https://www.dvidshub.net/news/376512/schriever-listens-learns-with-crucial-conversations">installments</a> in the Crucial Convo series on their official websites, however, and the event was organized by Adams and moderated by retired Air Force Brigadier General Greg Brundidge. The Air Force did not respond to a request for comment.
Panelists reaffirmed the core dogmas of the leftwing ideologies, including that America is systematically racist, that white people enjoy unearned privilege on the basis of their race, and that disparities in group achievements are necessarily the result of discrimination and prejudice.
One panelist, a Georgia teacher named Dr. Jay Wamsted, asserted that disparities in academic achievement by race were due to a “white middle class problem” in America’s schools.
“Something is broken in the public schools, and it&#8217;s either nature or nurture, it&#8217;s either these black boys and girls or it&#8217;s, and I’m going to throw a stone here,  these white teachers,” Wamsted stated during the talk on Critical Race Theory. “Our structure of public schools has a white, middle class problem.”

He went on to imply that white American men are naturally complicit in both racism and sexism as a result of their identity and upbringing in the United States.
“I am not a racist but I do sometimes perform racist acts because of some imprinting on me growing up white and middle class in America,” he contended. “In a similar way, I am not a misogynist,” he added before stating that he does sometimes engage in misogynist acts because he was “raised in a patriarchal society.”

He provided one way in which white people can atone for racism, however. “When a white person is looking to help, an easy thing to do is spend your money at black businesses,” Wamsted stated.
Wamsted, who did not respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire, also recommended a book from leftist Carol Anderson that advances Critical Race Theory
“Carol Anderson wrote a great book called &#8216;White Rage,&#8217; which is a hard book to read if you’re white but it&#8217;s a good read,” he stated. The book <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/46010383-white-rage-the-unspoken-truth-of-our-racial-divide">claims</a> that “black advancement” is the “trigger for white rage,” and that white rage “works its way through the courts, the legislatures, and a range of government bureaucracies.” Wamsted did not respond to a request for comment.
Though Wamsted was perhaps the most radical of the panelists, others chimed in to reaffirm their support for Critical Race Theory and its core doctrines.
The talk was moderated by retired Brigadier General Greg Brundidge, who similarly advanced the belief that racism is deeply embedded in the institutions of the United States. “There’s not going to be a single home run hit that gets rid of racism, it is part of the fabric of the nation,” Brundidge claimed on the call.
Another guest, DEI consultant Tammy Hodo, claimed that race is not a biological reality but a social construct that white people have used to garner special privileges. “Race is not real, it’s a social construct, it is not biologically real,” Hodo said. We recognize that the European Americans alive today did not own slavery [sic] or anything like that but they have definitely benefited from the racial construct of white privilege.”
The panel conversation was part of a wide-reaching attempt by the Biden administration to embed Critical Race Theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies throughout the military and the national security apparatus.
The Biden Defense Department <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-pentagon-slated-to-spend-nearly-270-million-on-diversity-agenda">requested</a> a whopping $269 million to bolster its DEI agenda from 2022 to 2024, one investigation from The Daily Wire revealed. From “Queer Time, Queer Space” to “Black Shakespeare,” universities across the United States are offering left-wing courses that range from the radical to the downright strange.
It&#8217;s no surprise that elite colleges and universities have left-wing biases. But rather than offer courses on Marx or critical theory, many institutions are going even further in the spring semester. Academics are bringing increasingly fringe subjects to the classroom, &#8220;queering&#8221; the world of architecture and &#8220;racializing&#8221; science fiction.
Here are some of the most woke classes being offered on college campuses this semester.
Art Films: Queer Time, Queer Space (Brown University)
The Ivy League institution in Providence, Rhode Island is offering students <a href="https://bulletin.brown.edu/search/?P=queer">Art Films: Queer Time, Queer Space</a>, which will encourage “a sustained meditation on cinematic practices that trouble and disrupt normative, reproductive, developmental, and accumulative time.” The description goes into more depth, explaining its methods.
“By situating queer theories of temporality in proximity to time-based art-making, we will engage with and analyze art films, digital media, and performative works that push the boundaries of the aesthetically and politically possible,” it adds.
Spaces of Queer Theory (University of California Berkeley)
Not to be outdone, UC Berkeley is hosting “<a href="https://classes.berkeley.edu/content/2025-spring-arch-139-001-lec-001">Spaces of Queer Theory</a>,” a class that examines architectural practices and their interactions with queer politics. It will delve into “queer necropolitics and the carceral state” as well as “the architectural futurity of queer communities,” all while discussing “queering architecture,” “queer ecologies,” and “spaces of queer consumption.&#8221;
Black Shakespeare; Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice (Columbia University)
Called “<a href="https://doc.sis.columbia.edu/#subj/AFEN/BC3817-20251-001/">Black Shakespeare</a>,” the Columbia University course raises the question, “Can performing Shakespeare be an activist endeavor?” It goes further. “Can creators and scholars separate Shakespeare from the apparatus of white supremacy that has been built around his works?” the course description inquires. It even probes, “What are the challenges and obstacles for BIPOC scholars working on Shakespeare in academia?”
Students at Columbia can also <a href="https://doc.sis.columbia.edu/#subj/EESC/GR9810-20251-001/">take</a> “Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice,” which seeks to untether science from its “colonial foundations” and encourages students to “decolonize their own research.”
“We begin by examining the colonial foundations of the sciences, with a special focus on the geo- and climate sciences,” the description explains. “The ideological underpinnings of these sciences assume the earth to be an inert object ripe for exploitation; this legacy of European modernity is often at odds with the worldviews of indigenous peoples and their relations with nature.”
AfroFuturism (Vassar College)
“Afrofuturists reconfigure notions of race and identity by appropriating science fiction tropes while speculating potential futures free from any Eurocentric gaze,” reads <a href="https://catalogue.vassar.edu/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=55&amp;coid=379772">the description</a> of the course at the Poughkeepsie, New York college.
“Beginning with Afrofuturist progenitor Sun Ra, we go “black to the future” and closely encounter other Afronauts such as Octavia Butler, Janelle Monáe, Nnedi Okorafor, OutKast, Parliament-Funkadelic, Ishmael Reed, and Fatimah Tuggar, among others.”
The Sexual Life of Colonialism; Race, Gender, and Medicine (Harvard University)
Students at Harvard University are <a href="https://courses.my.harvard.edu/dw_course/fas_crse_cat.pdf">invited</a> to take a course called “Race, Gender, and Medicine” which employs “feminist theory, disability justice movements, critical race theory, queer theory, anti-colonial thought, and trans liberation movements.” One of the focuses of the course, the description explains, is “the development and racialization of transgender medicine.” It also poses the question, “What unique challenges do trans and gender-diverse youth face in seeking medical care as a result of recent transphobic laws and policies?”
Another course at the institution is titled “The Sexual Life of Colonialism” and seeks to “investigate the role of colonialism and neocolonialism in racial imaginations of gender and sexuality.”
Black Feminist and Queer Contemporary Culture (Swarthmore College)
Pennsylvania&#8217;s Swarthmore College will offer a <a href="https://catalog.swarthmore.edu/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=30&amp;coid=100025">course</a> on “Black Feminist and Queer Contemporary Culture,” with a focus on “the works of black queer and trans visual artists and writers.”
“Using the tools of black feminist and queer theory, the class will cover topics and concepts such as Afrofuturism, stereotypes, intersectionality, surveillance, film, performance, abstraction/figuration, photography, poetry, and ungendering,” the description states.
Queer and Trans of Color Critique; Queer and Trans Latino Studies (Northwestern University)
Evanston, Illinois’ Northwestern University joins the ranks of the other institutions with <a href="https://catalogs.northwestern.edu/search/?caturl=%2Fundergraduate&amp;search=queer">classes</a> on race and queer politics. Students can take both “Queer and Trans of Color Critique” and “Queer and Trans Latino Studies,” the latter of which “will explore the construction of gender and sexuality as it intersects with race, class, immigration, and other relationships of power” and focus on “Black feminist, women of color feminist, and queer of color critique writing and activism.”
Queer, Quare, Ku&#8217;er: or Queer of Color Critique (University of Chicago)
The highly-ranked University of Chicago advertises a course titled “Queer, Quare, Ku&#8217;er: or queer of color critique,” which poses the question &#8220;what could queer theory look like if we begin from the premise that its model subject is not white?&#8221;
It also has a number of different <a href="http://collegecatalog.uchicago.edu/thecollege/search/?caturl=%2Fthecollege&amp;P=queer">courses on queer politics</a>, including “Queer Theory and Queer Practice,” “The Aesthetics of Camp: Queer Style, Queer Sensibility,” and “Queer Theology and Queer of Color Critique.”

The University of California San Francisco School of Medicine is hosting a continuing education course for doctors run by a left-wing activist who said that “white people are psychopaths” because of their “evolutionary history.”
<a href="https://www.ucsfcme.com/2025/MMC25096C/info.html">The course</a>, which costs $575 per attendee and is titled “Understanding the Roots of Racism and Bias: Anti-Blackness, and Its Links to Whiteness, White Racism, Privilege, and Power,” will be administered by DEI consultant and anti-white activist Dante King. King previously gave a speech at UCSF titled “diagnosing whiteness,” in which he claimed that “whites are psychopaths” because of their “evolutionary history.”
&#8220;Whites are psychopaths and their behavior represents an underlying, biologically transmitted proclivity with roots deep in their evolutionary history,” King said.
“How many of you can see the proclivity that evolved deep within the evolutionary history of Whiteness by show of hands? How many of you could see it? Some people are sitting here, ‘Oh no, I don’t want to raise my hand,’ that’s called denial.”

“I’m not seeking agreement from white people at all. I don’t prioritize whiteness or white people,” he went on to say, also claiming that “anti-blackness is … the foundation of all white American institutions.”
A representative for King did not respond to a media inquiry asking if he stood by his comments.
King&#8217;s course counts for Continuing Education Credit, which physicians are <a href="https://www.boardvitals.com/blog/cme-requirements-by-state/">required to obtain</a> in order to maintain their licenses. The <a href="https://www.ucsfcme.com/2025/MMC25096C/info.html">course&#8217;s</a> objectives are for participants to “understand racism as psychological, sociological, and legal, as the main property and function of government, governance, and culture” and “develop individual and organizational anti-racist strategies and practices.”
The DEI agenda has been embedded in the medical field through the push for “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doctors-must-do-equity-training-to-keep-license-in-washington-state-under-new-law">health equity</a>,” which presupposes that discrepancies between the rates at which different racial groups experience health complications are due to racism.
Attendees of the February course will be taught how to “begin thinking about anti-racist processes, policies, and programs to lead actionable change” and “develop awareness and make connections about institutional, structural, systemic, systematic, and interpersonal racism (as White supremacy culture and anti-Blackness culture).”
Dr. Jared Ross, a Senior Fellow at <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org">Do No Harm</a>, told The Daily Wire why he believes the upcoming course is so detrimental to the medical field.
“It is disheartening to see UC San Francisco, a taxpayer-funded state institution, promoting racism to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals under the guise of continuing medical education,&#8221; Ross told The Daily Wire. &#8220;This 16-hour course has nothing to do with providing excellent medical care. Instead, it uses debunked pseudoscientific research to promote radical ideologies such as implicit bias, racial justice, and social equity.”
“This course encourages racial segregation, erodes patient-physician trust, and degrades the rigor of medical education by taking the focus away from the individual patient and instead defining people by immutable characteristics.”
King&#8217;s most recent work appears to indicate that he is doubling down on his past inflammatory claims. King is behind a <a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/">docuseries</a> called “Diagnosing Whiteness and Anti-Blackness” that focuses on “White Psychopathology, Collective Psychosis &amp; Trauma In America.” Episode one of the 10 part series is called “<a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/episode01">Whiteness is Delusional,</a>” and it describes whites as both &#8220;psychopathic&#8221; and &#8220;sociopathic.&#8221;
The episode description explains that King and his fellow activists “unpack how White racism and anti-Blackness work to the advantage of White people, portraying them as psychopathic, sociopathic, immoral, and delusional in the context of American society.”
<a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/episode06">Episode six</a> of the series cites “a lack of impulse control” as one of the “key factors that explain White behavior” and argues that “cultural whiteness” can be described through a “new clinical term” that he calls “Malignant Diabolical Psychopathy.”
“None of this should surprise us coming from Dante King, who is well known for his racist diatribes,&#8221; Ross said. “UC San Francisco would be better served to focus on teaching evidence-based medicine.&#8221;
UCSF did not respond to a request for comment.
