A Biden State Department official tasked with combatting “systemic racism” displayed her far-left bonafides in a series of since-deleted social media posts, unearthed by The Daily Wire, in which she blasted Trump supporters as racist and praised a vitriolic anti-police rant from a left-wing activist.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-state-department-official-bringing-dei-to-foreign-policy">Desiree Cormier Smith</a> is the State Department’s first ever Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. Smith, a former employee of George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, is also a far-left radical, as evidenced by a trove of posts on her <a href="https://x.com/DesireeMCormier">now-deleted</a> X profile between October 2020 and January 2021, before she was <a href="https://www.state.gov/biographies/desiree-cormier-smith/">appointed</a> to her post in 2022.
Smith, who is tasked with building “global partnerships to combat systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia,” was named to her position as the Democratic administration pursued a broad diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda. Now, she could be relieved of her position as the incoming Trump administration pledges to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-the-trump-admin-can-purge-dei-from-americas-military-and-foreign-policy?topStoryPosition=1">purge DEI</a> from the federal government.
“We need this kind of honesty and accountability across all our government institutions!!” Smith said in response to a <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/kansas-city-police-board-viral-speech">vitriolic rant</a> in 2020 where a left-wing activist named Keiajah Brooks called cops “soulless white people” at a Kansas City Police Commission meeting. “I stan,” she said in another post in response to the video of the diatribe, also requesting someone to put music in the background of the clip.

“I&#8217;m not nice and I don&#8217;t seek to be respectable. I&#8217;m not asking you all for anything because y&#8217;all can&#8217;t and won&#8217;t be both my savior and my oppressor,” the leftist says in the video while speaking at the meeting. “So I&#8217;m not here begging anything of soulless white folks.”
Brooks went on to launch personal attacks against the members of the commission, telling one that he was an &#8220;out-of-touch and disconnected old white person with nothing but pure apathy seeping through the bulging veins of his paper-colored skin.&#8221;
Smith was so enamored with the clip that she asked someone to add backing music to the video, with one user fulfilling her request.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), who serves as the Chair of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, told The Daily Wire that Smith&#8217;s comments were divisive and harmful.
“The State Department exists to protect and advance the interests of the American people at home and abroad. However, many of Ms. Smith’s comments only serve to divide Americans and damage our cause and credibility on the world stage,” McCaul charged before reaffirming his support for Trump’s goal of purging the woke agenda from the federal government.
“I’m certain President-elect Trump will dismantle President Biden’s woke agenda at State and restore the department to its original mission of creating a more secure, democratic, and prosperous world benefiting Americans and the international community.”
The State Department did not return a request for comment.
The remarks from Smith, who makes <a href="https://govsalaries.com/cormier-smith-desiree-m-176287791">over $180,000 a year</a> in her State Department role, were just a sample of the many posts she made pushing far-left views and denigrating white people and Trump.
“Black Voters Saved White America Again and You’re Very Welcome,” she said in one post after the 2020 presidential election. “Interesting how non-Americans are able to see and name this much more clearly than many (white) Americans,” she wrote in a quote tweet to a post arguing that Trump’s 2020 candidacy was evidence that “the US is a deeply broken society.”

“Very very real,” Smith said in response to a tweet that read, “The fact that this presidential race is even this close proves that white supremacy is very real in America.”

She also signaled her agreement that racial minorities are locked in “an abusive dynamic” in which they are “blamed for not overcoming the concerted racism of white ppl.”

In yet another tweet condemning white Trump supporters as racist, Smith urged her white friends to “miss me with the ‘I can’t believe it was so close’ texts and go talk to your racist families and high school friends. We did the work. Now it’s your turn.”

The Open Society Foundations alum directed her ire at Trump in some tweets, including one in which she signaled her belief that Trump was a “textbook” example of a fascist. She quoted a left-wing organization in another post, appearing to affirm the belief that “Donald Trump is a blessing to dictators around the world” and is “creating a global network of gangsters.”

Smith advocated for radical policies as well, calling for reparations and an end to the electoral college system, which she alleged was based on racism.
“We begin to repair our nations through reparations and healing,” one post read, with another saying, “Racism and slavery are at the root of this peculiar way to elect a president. In the 21st Century, it still submerges the Black vote. It’s past time to get rid of the Electoral College.”

In one post, Smith claimed that she was the victim of the type of “subtle racism” that “kills Black women” after a nurse didn’t escort her to the restroom when she had been sedated for a minor surgery.

Non-white diplomats, according to Smith, &#8220;come with a certain humility that I would say that a lot of white foreign service officers lack.&#8221;

The Biden-Harris administration has made no secret of its effort to push diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the United States. But it is also working to push the leftwing racial ideology around the world.
In 2022, the administration <a href="https://twitter.com/US_SRREJ">named</a> Desiree Cormier Smith the State Department’s first Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. She is officially charged with advancing “the human rights of members of marginalized racial, ethnic, and Indigenous communities,” and building “global partnerships to combat systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia.”
In her own words, that amounts to fighting “structural racism, discrimination, and xenophobia,” which she says “are global scourges that require global solutions.&#8221;
Smith’s role is perhaps the biggest example of the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to pushing DEI. It is also a likely target for elimination should former President Donald Trump win re-election in November. Trump has indicated that he will fire leftwing bureaucrats who may otherwise obstruct his policy agenda.
Smith — who says her role exists “because the Biden-Harris administration acknowledges the global nature of systemic racism” — acknowledged as much during an appearance on a Harvard University <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/carr/our-work/justice-matters-podcast/racial-justice-without-borders">podcast</a>.
“If we get a Republican president or any other president in the future … then the whole-of-government approach might be a very different one and might not include this position any longer,” the interviewer said.
“That is a possibility,” Smith responded.
The Biden-Harris administration has pushed the DEI agenda throughout the national security establishment. The National Security Agency created a DEI glossary including terms like “white fragility,” “settler colonialism,” and “transmisogyny,” openly referencing the work of Critical Race Theorists, The Daily Wire revealed in an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-leaked-nsa-doc-reveals-massive-woke-glossary-pushing-critical-race-theory-gender-ideology-on-govt-employees">exclusive investigation</a>. 
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence also advanced the far-left DEI agenda, celebrating one intelligence agent who said that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-top-intelligence-agency-says-crossdressing-makes-man-better-intelligence-officer-internal-docs-show">cross-dressing</a> made him a better intelligence official and telling agents to avoid using “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/internal-docs-show-entire-intelligence-community-warned-to-avoid-problematic-phrases-on-islamic-terrorism">problematic phrases</a>” when discussing Islamic terrorism.
The military has embraced the same ideologies, with the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-air-force-celebrates-pride-month-with-ceo-of-organization-advocating-for-child-gender-transitions">Air Force hosting</a> the CEO of an organization that encourages child sex changes as a speaker at an LGBT pride event, and the Department of Defense <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-pentagon-slated-to-spend-nearly-270-million-on-diversity-agenda">requesting nearly $270 million</a> over two years for its DEI agenda.
A State Department spokesman told The Daily Wire that Smith’s appointment “underscores the Department’s clear commitment to combating systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia globally.&#8221;
&#8220;The State Department’s first-ever Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice was established to advance the human rights of members of marginalized racial, ethnic, and Indigenous communities,&#8221; the spokesman said, sidestepping The Daily Wire&#8217;s inquiry as to whether or not the State Department believes that the United States is a systemically racist country. 
“Structural racism, discrimination, and xenophobia are global scourges that require global solutions,” Smith said in an <a href="https://www.csis.org/analysis/racial-equity-lens-us-foreign-policy">interview</a> with the Center For Strategic &amp; International Studies. She also claimed that white supremacy is a “global threat” that requires solutions across “continents and national borders.”
“So when we look at racially and ethnically motivated violent extremism, white supremacy is at the top of that,” Smith stated. “And so those who engage in violent White supremacy, again, they know no borders.”
FBI <a href="https://cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/hate-crime">data indicate</a> that white people are underrepresented among hate crime offenders in the United States relative to their share of the population over the last five years.
Smith began her diplomatic career in the<a href="https://pickeringfellowship.org/"> Pickering Fellowship</a>, a State Department program that seeks “members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the State Department, women, and those with a demonstrated financial need for graduate school.” She <a href="https://www.state.gov/biographies/desiree-cormier-smith/">previously worked</a> for leftwing billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, as a senior policy advisor for Africa, Europe, and Eurasia.
Smith says that DEI is a “national security imperative,” and that white supremacy is a “global threat” that requires solutions across “continents and national borders.”
Just like the State Department’s<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-biden-official-making-six-figures-to-travel-the-globe-pushing-transgenderism"> LGBTQI Special Envoy</a>, previously spotlighted by The Daily Wire, Smith travels across the world as she engages in government-sanctioned activism. Smith detailed one story in which she received a gift from a Brazilian woman who “gave me a shirt with a phrase in Portuguese.”
“Now, I don’t speak Portuguese yet, so when I got to my office I looked it up,” the State Department official went on to explain. “And the text on the shirt translated to ‘Justice is a Black woman, and she does not walk alone.’ And I thought it was so profound and so meaningful, as a Black woman.”

More than 100 school districts across the country have &#8220;land acknowledgement statements,&#8221; many of which say the United States was built on “stolen land” and committed genocide.
Districts in at least 17 different states have land acknowledgment statements, a Parents Defending Education analysis exclusively obtained by The Daily Wire shows. A land acknowledgement — which PDE defines as “a formal statement that is intended to recognize Indigenous or Native peoples as the original inhabitants/stewards of the land a school district, staff, and students occupy&#8221; — are often read at the beginning of meetings or other public gatherings.
New Hampshire’s Frances C. Richmond Middle School,  for example, claims that the United States was built on “stolen land” in its land acknowledgement <a href="https://rms.sau70.org/rms-land-acknowledgement">statement</a>.
“We, the RMS community, would like to acknowledge that our school is built upon the unceded land of the Abenaki and Pennacook peoples,” the statement reads before going on to say “the land was stolen.”
Minnesota’s <a href="https://www.rdale.org/discover/land-acknowledgement">Robbinsdale Area Schools</a> say that the district is “located on the homelands of the Dakota and Ojibwe people” before adding that “we recognize the painful history of genocide and forced assimilation of the Indigenous inhabitants of this land.”
&#8220;These so-called land acknowledgments are ridiculous virtue signaling designed to teach kids to hate America,” Michele Exner, Senior Advisor for Parents Defending Education, told The Daily Wire. “It&#8217;s even more insane when you consider that many of these schools are failing to teach basic academic fundamentals, but find the time to push this useless nonsense.&#8221;
The Minnesota school district is far from the only one that argues that the United States was built on genocide. Oregon’s North Clackamas School District blames the United States for “colonization” and “genocide.”
&#8220;We recognize the historic policies of colonization, genocide, relocation, and assimilation that affected Indigenous and Native families both past and present and that will affect those in the future, and honor the resilience and revitalization of our Indigenous and Native communities,&#8221; the district’s <a href="https://www.nclack.k12.or.us/departments/community-engagement/native-land-acknowledgement-in-north-clackamas">statement</a> reads.
Colorado’s Boulder Valley School District used <a href="https://www.bvsd.org/about/land-acknowledgement">similar language</a>, again accusing the United States of genocide.
“We acknowledge the atrocities committed here, including the painful history of genocide, forced assimilation, and efforts to alienate the Indigenous inhabitants from their homeland, supported by the policies of the United States government,” it reads.
California’s Contra Costa Office of Education has <a href="https://www.cccoe.k12.ca.us/About-CCCOE/About/Land-Acknowledgement/index.html">multiple versions</a> of its land acknowledgement, with one that reads “we recognize them, the legacy of violence, settlement, and displacement of these people who suffered and survived, and we recognize the importance of reverting this common history, of which we are all a part, by engaging in meaningful indigenous justice work today.”
Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland, meanwhile, <a href="https://www.pgcps.org/globalassets/offices/gov-relations-compliance-procedures/docs---ograc/board-policies/2000/board-policy-2513.1---indigenous-peoples-land-acknowledgement.pdf">created</a> a land acknowledgment while replacing Columbus Day with “Indigenous People’s Day.”
“While often well intentioned, land acknowledgments act as a form of virtue signaling by institutions and leadership,” PDE explains, calling them subversive given that they tell students that “they are occupying ‘stolen land’ from Indigenous tribes.”

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/california" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a> school district is facing calls for the federal government to launch an investigation into its hiring practices, with one organization claiming that it systematically engages in racial discrimination through its “equity” policies.
California’s La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District, located on the coast just outside of Silicon Valley, may have engaged in racial discrimination as it sought to attract “diverse” candidates, according to Parents Defending Education (PDE).
“La Honda-Prescadero cannot discriminate based on their race when hiring or making other employment decisions,” <a href="https://defendinged.org/press-releases/parents-defending-education-requests-investigation-into-la-honda-pescadero-unified-school-districts-equity-policy/">PDE wrote</a> in a letter to the Director and Regional Attorney of the San Jose Local Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. “We ask that your office promptly investigate the allegations in this complaint, act swiftly to remedy unlawful policies and practices, and order appropriate relief.”
PDE pointed to multiple documents from the school district that outline its approach to “equity” in hiring. One such document explained that one of the district’s goals is to “achieve an increase in diversity” of new hires. “By June 2024, district and site staff shall fully implement the LHPUSD hiring policy and achieve an increase in the diversity of the workforce in at least 75% of new hires,” the document reads.

Another district document, called “Hiring and Retaining a Diverse Staff 2024-2025,” explains how this goal might be achieved. A list of “strategies to encourage diverse candidates” instructs hiring personnel to “prioritize messaging that centers diversity/POC” and “track demography of candidate pool throughout the entire hiring process.”
The document even goes on to explain that hiring officials should be “purposeful about saying experience in lieu of degree” when advertising jobs in order to enhance the diversity of applicant pools.
The documents both appear to have been created after the district commissioned an equity audit report from an outside group, which charged $19,500 for its services. The report claimed that the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District “had room to improve how they recruit educators of color to increase the diversification of staff.”
“Research supports the importance of encouraging racially diverse candidates to remain in districts at proportional rates and provide them with equitable opportunities to progress upwards in the organization,” the equity audit commissioned by the district claims.
PDE warns that the measures taken by the school district to reengineer the demographics of their staff could run afoul of federal law. “PDE makes this investigation request as an interested third-party organization with members who are parents of school children throughout the country,” the organization explained, adding that “PDE and its members oppose racial discrimination and political indoctrination in America’s schools.”
The call for an investigation into the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District comes after PDE issued a similar call for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-school-district-faces-call-for-federal-investigation-into-race-based-hiring">investigate</a>  New York state’s Rochester City School District for similarly implementing an “equity policy” that appeared to create a hiring preference for “African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American” job applicants who qualify as “staff of color.”
The La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Future educators are instructed in the work of “White Fragility” author <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/robin-diangelo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Robin DiAngelo</a> in over a dozen universities across the country, according to Parents Defending Education.
The revelation was included in a recent <a href="https://defendinged.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/PDE_CorruptED.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from Parents Defending Education, a group focused on ridding ideology from education, that took a deep dive into education class syllabi from 67 universities across the 34 states. The report found that Critical Race Theory and anti-white rhetoric was deeply embedded into the coursework of America’s future educators.
In course description syllabi, Parents Defending Education found 54 references to Critical Race Theory, 28 references to critical theory, 18 references to “oppression” and/or “power,” 55 references to Paulo Freire and the “Pedagogy of the Oppressed,” 16 references to Robin DiAngelo, 34 references to “queer” or the tenets of queer theory, 31 references to white privilege, 20 references to white supremacy, and 28 references to whiteness.

DiAngelo, who is featured in Daily Wire host Matt Walsh’s new documentary “Am I Racist?,” is well-known for promoting the idea that all white people are racist.
Her work is taught in at least 16 of the universities surveyed, including the University of Southern California, the University of Florida, the Chaminade University of Honolulu College of Education, the University of Maryland, the University of Michigan, Missouri State University, the University of New Hampshire, Ohio State University, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point, and others.
Parents Defending Education researcher Rhyen Staley told The Daily Wire that it was inappropriate for students to be instructed in Robin DiAngelo&#8217;s work.
&#8220;The fact that current and future K-12 teachers are being conditioned to believe that Robin DiAngelo&#8217;s destructive ideas are &#8216;best practice&#8217; is deeply troubling,” he said. “A significant amount of America&#8217;s youth cannot read at grade level, yet Colleges of Education are dedicating time and resources to promoting DiAngelo&#8217;s philosophy of resentment and loathing based on immutable characteristics. DiAngelo&#8217;s hatecraft has no place in any academic setting.&#8221;
The report from Parents Defending Education highlights several other ideologically-focused classes, including a class <a href="https://onepenn.gse.upenn.edu/student-records-registrar/course-registration/4-digit-course-number-information" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> at the University of Pennsylvania called “Activism Beyond the Classroom.” The <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5ad0d247af209613040b9ceb/t/5fc682379ee0f32b87363416/1606844983883/Working+ABC+Syllabus+Fall+2019.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">themes</a> of the class include abolitionism, activism, Black Lives Matter, critical pedagogy, decolonization, and queer theory.
At the University of Utah, the education branch has offered classes like “Racial Battle Fatigue in Education,” “Whiteness Theory and Education,” and “Critical Race Theories: A Focus on FemCrit and LatCrit.”

Students attending Colorado State University can get an ethnic studies degree with teacher certification with an “Intro to Ethnic Studies” class <a href="https://defendinged.org/incidents/colorado-state-university-corrupted/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">where</a> they can learn about “whiteness,” “white privilege,” and “Trump and the politics of hate and White radicalism.”
The activist-focused classes are not only in blue states, but even present at institutions in conservative states like Alabama, Mississippi, and Ohio.
For example, a <a href="https://jpetrovic.people.ua.edu/uploads/4/8/4/7/48477307/667forweb.pdf">class</a> called “Multicultural and Social Education for Leadership Personnel” at the University of Alabama includes themes on anti-racism, decolonization, Marxism, and queer theory.
&#8220;Across the nation, parents and policy makers have been pushing back against school districts that have been implementing radical ideologies such as critical race theory, queer theory, decolonization, whiteness, and anti-meritocracy,&#8221; Parents Defending Education said in a summary of its research. &#8220;Unfortunately, these ideas are being ingrained into both current and future teachers, becoming part of K-12 lessons, classroom culture, and worldview.&#8221;

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz pushed the far-left diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda on his state as one of his very first actions in office, creating a diversity council that derided America as systemically racist and pushed for “anti-racist practices” as a solution to “whiteness.”
Shortly after assuming office in January 2019, Walz signed his <a href="https://mn.gov/governor/newsroom/press-releases/#/detail/appId/1/id/365086">first executive order, </a>creating the One Minnesota Council on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.
“Disparities in Minnesota, including those based on race, geography, and economic status, keep our entire state from reaching its full potential,” Walz said at the time. He said the council would “establish goals and work collaboratively to address diversity, inclusion, and equity in state government practices, including recruiting, retaining and promoting state employees, state government contracting, and civic engagement.”
The governor’s council went on to <a href="https://alphanews.org/walz-admin-diversity-liaisons-took-equity-inventory-of-all-state-agencies/">outline its equity outlook agenda</a>, which argued that the United States is systemically racist.
“The U.S. economy was built on the exploitation and occupational segregation of People of Color and American Indian People,” one presentation from the council argued. “Many people, governmental policies, and institutional practices have had a role in creating racial disparities.”
The race-based DEI ideology, which has become embedded throughout federal and state governments in recent years, holds that the United States is systematically racist, and that racial groups are either privileged or oppressed. DEI policies often result in discrimination and argue that any difference in group outcomes is necessarily the result of oppressive social, political, or economic structures.
The council also argued that anti-racist policies must be taken as a response to the role of whiteness in our society. “Our norms are grounded in Whiteness. Intentionality is needed to center anti-racist practices,&#8221; it said.
The One Minnesota Council also sought to mobilize the entirety of the state’s executive branch behind the far-left DEI agenda. The council used “diversity liaisons” to conduct an “equity inventory” of state departments, asking each to provide examples of their policies that “advance racial equity” and their legislative priorities pertaining to racial equity.

Walz also <a href="https://www.lrl.mn.gov/agencies/detail?AgencyID=2349">appointed</a> a “Chief Inclusion Officer” who is “expected to guide state agencies in hiring, promotion and seeking out a more diverse array of contractors.” The governor <a href="https://mn.gov/governor/newsroom/press-releases/?id=1055-593800">renewed</a> the council in 2023, saying that “equity and inclusion remain top priorities of our administration.”
“We remain committed to centering the people most impacted by disparities based on race, geography, and economic status, and making sure that they are part of developing solutions to address those disparities,” Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan said.
Walz&#8217;s executive order also created the “<a href="https://mn.gov/oeoa/about/councils/governors-community-council.jsp">Governor’s Community Council</a>,” which works in conjunction with the One Minnesota Council to “implement equitable, inclusive, and effective practices for the State to address disparities, inequities, and systemic racism in our communities.”

A California school district compelled high school freshmen to audit their “privileged” identities and present on “systems of oppression,” documents first obtained by Parents Defending Education reveal and exclusively shared with The Daily Wire.
California’s Alameda Unified School District’s ethnic studies curriculum required students to assess their own level of privilege as they were taught Critical Race Theory and extreme gender theory. Students were given handouts including “My Relationship with Privilege and Oppression,” which purports to tell students “whether you are privileged or oppressed.” White, male, Christian students without a criminal record are singled out as the epitome of privilege.
The document lists 29 different identities and characteristics—including race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, religion and education level—that are used to determine one’s alleged level of privilege or marginalization. “Who am I as an intersectional human being,” it asks students. Another assignment, called “A Map of Myself,” asks students to audit their own identities, categorizing each as a “position of privilege or marginalization.”
“For each identity domain … consider if it puts you in a position of privilege or marginalization,” the assignment reads before asking students to list their race, ethnicity, biological sex, sexual orientation, and religion. Footnotes cite &#8220;anti-racist&#8221; author Robin DiAngelo and argue that “race is a socially constructed system.”
“Considering all your social identities listed in the table above, on a daily basis, which ones are you most aware or conscious of?” the assignment inquires before going on to ask what “the most negative or difficult” thing about that identity is.
The documents appear to be representative of the course writ large. An ethnic studies course syllabus divides the class into four sections, including “power and oppression,” which focuses on “who creates the master narrative and how that impacts the lived experiences of different groups” by creating the “understanding that laws &amp; policies are not objective.&#8221;
“Individuals obsessed with forcing this oppressor vs. oppressed paradigm are poisoning the minds of children,” Parents Defending Education senior adviser Michele Exner told The Daily Wire. “They want to perpetuate a victimhood mentality based on how many ideological boxes someone can check off. What they should be teaching is math, reading, writing, and history—all subjects that will actually help students of all backgrounds excel instead of pushing this divisive content in classrooms.”
Students are expected to “identify social systems that structure and perpetuate power, privilege, and oppression” and “identify how identities intersect to create power, privilege, and oppression.”
The syllabus also details a portion of the course titled “resistance and liberation,” which centers on the “history of resisting oppression as carried out by the oppressed groups themselves,” a theme that supposedly “directly challenges the ‘White Savior’ narrative.” Course vocabulary terms include “white supremacy,” “white privilege,” “microaggressions,” and “colonized mind.”
Another assignment required students to study the “Four I’s Of Oppression&#8221;: &#8220;ideological, institutional, interpersonal, and internalized” oppression. The assignment required groups of students to draw on those &#8220;Four I&#8217;s&#8221; to make a slideshow on “white supremacy, patriarchy, heteronormativity, or cisnormativity.”
One course document indicates that students partook in a “<a href="https://thefederalist.com/2021/12/06/critical-race-trove-from-california-district-tells-students-how-to-use-witchcraft-on-people-who-say-all-lives-matter/">privilege walk</a>,” an exercise in which participants form a line and take steps forwards or backwards depending on their response to a <a href="https://youtu.be/hD5f8GuNuGQ?si=olRh_QdQ_jyyUU-J">series of questions</a>. The exercise is intended to indicate the level of privilege each person supposedly has relative to each other.
“In your own words, describe the emotions and thoughts you experienced during the privilege walk. How has it challenged or confirmed your perceptions of privilege and inequality?”
Students were also asked to write an essay on successful political organizing strategies, including how leftwing movements “use grassroots organizing and social media to be successful.” Students could choose from a list of leftist movements to discuss, including Black Lives Matter and the Black Panthers.
Alameda Unified School District did not respond to a request for comment.

If you like your doctors and nurses to show a &#8220;sense of urgency&#8221; when caring for you and your loved ones, you might just be part of &#8220;white supremacy culture,&#8221; according to one prominent medical school.
Duke University School of Medicine <a href="https://medschool.duke.edu/news/school-launches-plan-dismantle-racism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a <a href="https://medschool.duke.edu/sites/default/files/2021-08/dismantling_racism_and_advancing_equity_diversity_and_inclusion_ADA.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strategic plan</a> in recent years claiming that having a &#8220;sense of urgency&#8221; is part of &#8220;white supremacy culture&#8221; and suggesting that forcing this expectation on people of color is &#8220;discriminatory.&#8221;

&#8220;In the workplace, white supremacy culture explicitly and implicitly privileges whiteness and discriminates against non-Western and non-white professionalism standards related to dress code, speech, work style, and timeliness,&#8221; the document reads.
&#8220;Some identifiable characteristics of this culture includes perfectionism, belief that there’s only one right way, power hoarding, individualism, sense of urgency and defensiveness,&#8221; the document adds.
The 2021 guide, which Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/duke-medical-school-claims-timeliness-individualism-part-white-supremacy-culture" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on Tuesday, defines white supremacy culture as the &#8220;idea (ideology) that White people and the ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and actions of white people are superior to People of Color and their ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and actions.&#8221;
Titled &#8220;Dismantling Racism And Advancing Equity, Diversity And Inclusion in the School of Medicine,&#8221; the document says the goal of the plan is to &#8220;catalyze anti-racist practice through education of our current and future workforce.&#8221;
The dean of Duke Medical School, Dr. Mary Klotman, praised the plan at the time of its unveiling.
&#8220;This plan reflects the School of Medicine’s goals, priorities and strategies relative to the path we have been on, the path we are currently on, and the path forward,&#8221; Klotman wrote in a message accompanying the document.
&#8220;We are proud of our longstanding commitment to diversity and excellence and yet we acknowledge that there is much more work to do,&#8221; she said.
The document also included a definition of &#8220;white fragility,&#8221; which it says refers to &#8220;feelings of discomfort a white person experiences when they witness or engage in discussions around racial inequality and injustice.&#8221;
The idea that timeliness is a value of &#8220;white&#8221; culture has been around for at least the past several years.
&#8220;In a world driven by capitalism, professionalism &#8230; centers productivity over people, values time commitments, accomplishes tasks in a linear fashion, and often favors individuals who are white and Western,&#8221; <a href="https://ssir.org/articles/entry/the_bias_of_professionalism_standards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reads</a> a 2019 article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review. &#8220;In contrast, polychronic cultures, while still able to get tasks completed, prioritize socialization and familial connections over economic labor.&#8221;
Other professional expectations that have been criticized as too &#8220;white&#8221; are <a href="https://ssir.org/articles/entry/the_bias_of_professionalism_standards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">speaking</a> &#8220;white standard English&#8221; and <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/13/sports/serena-williams-discrimination-black-women.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">keeping</a> anger in check at work.
Meanwhile, equity advocates <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/universities-scrap-sat-scramble-to-stay-diverse-ahead-of-affirmative-action-ruling">have</a> <a href="https://www.kevinmd.com/2019/09/its-time-to-abolish-the-mcat.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushed</a> for medical schools to stop requiring the MCAT in recent years, alarming critics who worry that schools could end up graduating less qualified doctors, putting patients at risk.

Trump spoke to a crowd of supporters in Racine, Wisconsin, less than a month before he is set to be nominated at the Republican National Convention in nearby Milwaukee. Author and Critical Race Theory critic Coleman Hughes told Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro more details of his viral exchange on race with leftist Sunny Hostin on ABC’s “The View” in March.
During the most recent episode of “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/not-everything-is-about-race-coleman-hughes-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Ben Shapiro Show Sunday Special</a>,” Hughes and The Daily Wire host discussed Hostin’s attempt to target Hughes in a “knockdown blow” after he was invited to join “The View” hosts to discuss his book, “<a href="https://www.amazon.com/End-Race-Politics-Arguments-Colorblind/dp/0593332458" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The End of Race Politics: Arguments for a Colorblind America</a>.” Hostin, who routinely slams conservatives and defends Democrats, accused Hughes of being a “charlatan” and “pawn” for those on the Right.
“Sunny Hostin declared that you were a charlatan and apparently a Republican operative, which seems kind of shocking since my understanding is that you have not voted Republican in any presidential election thus far,” Shapiro said. “Why don&#8217;t you take us through what actually that experience was like in person?”
Hughes, host of “Conversations with Coleman,” told Shapiro that he was excited for the opportunity to appear on “The View” and reach a different audience, but added that before he went on the show, a producer warned him that Hostin would go after him.
“So I was excited to go on. And one of their producers warned me that Sunny Hostin was going to come after me rather hard and I didn&#8217;t know who she was,” he said. “So I had no expectations. I just had, you know, the typical level of anxiety going into a major TV appearance. And what happened is that I had a pretty normal exchange with [Whoopi] Goldberg. We disagreed respectfully. But Sunny Hostin, you know, she claimed to have read my book twice, which was clearly not true, because she had no idea what was in the book, obviously.”

“As you are a student of Dr. King, I not only am a student of Dr. King; I know his daughter, Bernice,” Hostin replied, adding, “I think the [book’s] premise is fundamentally flawed.”
Hostin said that years after his “I Have a Dream” speech, King argued for “doing something special for the negro,” which Hostin claimed meant that he supported racial reparations.
“So your argument for color-blindness, I think, is something that the Right has co-opted and so many in the black community, if I’m being honest with you, because I want to be, believe that you are being used as a pawn by the Right and that you’re a charlatan of sorts,” she added.
Hughes quickly refuted her claim, however, saying that King’s comment on “doing something special for the negro” was in the context of King arguing for addressing socioeconomic inequalities through “a broad class-based policy.”
Hughes told Shapiro that Hostin had “an agenda to come after me from a particular angle that she didn&#8217;t realize wasn&#8217;t going to land.”
“She thought this was going to be some kind of knockdown blow to say that I&#8217;ve been co-opted by the Right as if there’s Koch brothers’ money being funneled into my bank account to get me to say what I&#8217;m saying.”
“Whereas the truth is that I just believe what I&#8217;m saying, and I&#8217;ve done a lot of research on this topic,” he said.
Hughes explained that he believes the exchange went viral because “so often on daytime television, on cable news, you see performative energy meeting performative energy.”
“It&#8217;s basically all theater,” he added. “And you rarely see someone come with a kind of performative canned attack, but the other person just responds and kind of calmly with facts. And that&#8217;s what I did there, and I think that was so jarring to people that the moment went viral.”

Coleman Hughes, a Columbia University grad and host of the “Conversations with Coleman” podcast, joined Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro on the “Sunday Special” this week to discuss his new <a href="https://www.amazon.com/End-Race-Politics-Arguments-Colorblind/dp/0593332458" target="_blank" rel="noopener">book</a>, “The End of Race Politics: Arguments for a Colorblind America.”
Hughes, who has also testified before Congress warning against pursuing racial reparations, told Shapiro that liberals who were largely behind Martin Luther King Jr.’s argument for a colorblind society have “abandoned” that idea to pursue race-based policies.
“The Left’s argument for most of my childhood and most of my teenage years with regard to race was the old MLK argument, which is that you were supposed to see people as individuals without reference primarily to their racial group,” Shapiro said.
“And then it seems like the Left has shifted away from that MLK message and now has embraced much more racial politics as a mechanism for electoral and political success. So when you talk a little bit about [colorblindness], why do you think it is that this has now become more associated with ‘the Right,’ even though it was never historically a Right-wing argument?” the Daily Wire host asked.
“Yeah, my childhood mirrored yours in that sense,” Hughes replied. “I grew up in a liberal town. I think I met one Republican my whole life as a kid, and everyone took for granted that Martin Luther King&#8217;s famous speech and his now cliched phrase, ‘Judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.’ Everyone took that for granted as the obvious way to think about race.”

The author added that Dr. King’s argument that was taken for granted was first abandoned during race riots in the late 1960s and 1970s and then again during the George Floyd riots of 2020.
“There&#8217;s always been a fringe among academics, elite intellectuals. The Critical Race Theory fringe, which since the ‘70s and ‘80s, has said that ‘actually the civil rights movement was wrong. They didn&#8217;t go far enough. And we have to think about race all the time. American society is fundamentally racist.’
Hughes added that “liberals abandoned this idea [colorblindness] during the race riots, very similar to what happened during George Floyd, where you had every politician trying to outdo the other to show how much they cared about racism and implementing race-based policies everywhere from, you know, Microsoft to like a local town ordinance.”
