President Donald Trump is reportedly set to sign an executive order that would &#8220;facilitate the closure” of the Department of Education. 
A draft of an executive order to begin dismantling the department has been prepared and could be signed sometime on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/draft-of-trump-executive-order-aims-to-eliminate-education-department-5315c3a4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Trump has repeatedly said that he would like to shut down the department and return education fully over to the states. 
“The experiment of controlling American education through Federal programs and dollars—and the unaccountable bureaucrats those programs and dollars support—has failed our children, our teachers, and our families,” a draft of the order obtained by the Journal and labeled “pre-decisional” reads. 
The draft directs Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to “take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Education Department” to “the maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law.”
McMahon, who was confirmed on Monday, released a <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/speech/secretary-mcmahon-our-departments-final-mission" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> that same day on the department&#8217;s &#8220;final mission&#8221; promising to “restore the rightful role of state oversight in education and to end the overreach from Washington.”
“As you are all aware, President Trump nominated me to take the lead on one of his most momentous campaign promises to families,” she said. “My vision is aligned with the President’s: to send education back to the states and empower all parents to choose an excellent education for their children.”
Trump campaigned on getting rid of the Education Department, saying that it had been used to indoctrinate American school children. 
“I say it all the time, I’m dying to get back to do this. We will ultimately eliminate the federal Department of Education,” Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-department-of-education-may-be-on-the-chopping-block-what-could-that-look-like" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> at a September rally in Wisconsin. “We will drain the government education swamp and stop the abuse of your taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate America’s youth with all sorts of things that you don’t want to have our youth hearing.”
According to legal experts, eliminating the Education Department &#8220;would require a filibuster-proof, 60-vote majority in the Senate,&#8221; the Journal noted.
Under Trump, the Department of Education has already taken steps to end the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and radical gender ideology. 
In February, the department <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/education-dept-slashes-600-million-in-grants-promoting-divisive-ideologies" target="_blank" rel="noopener">slashed</a> more than $600 million in grants with groups that trained teachers and educational agencies in Critical Race Theory and DEI. The grants funded training in Critical Race Theory, DEI, social justice activism, “anti-racism,” and instruction on white privilege and white supremacy, according to the Education Department. 
Last week, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-launches-end-dei-portal-for-reporting-schools-discriminatory-practices" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rolled out</a> an “End DEI” portal for parents around the country to submit reports of alleged racial or sex discrimination for potential investigation by the Department of Education.

The Department of Health and Human Services is spending more than $400,000 in taxpayer funds to research the alleged role of “structural racism’s” effects on substance use and HIV outcomes.
The University of California Los Angeles will receive <a href="https://www.usaspending.gov/award/ASST_NON_R01DA061345_7529">just under $440,000</a> from the National Institute on Drug Abuse as it works to blame differences in HIV and substance abuse treatment outcomes on an overarching system of oppression.
“It is well established that racial disparities in HIV care outcomes and use of substances among sexual minority men (SMM) of color persist because of structural racism in Los Angeles County,” the abstract’s opening line <a href="https://reporter.nih.gov/search/tOdEyhgo1UaPJS0JbgaWsQ/project-details/10986884">claims</a>.
The UCLA study seeks to “interrogate” how “historical racist practices influence unequal spatial patterns and how such unequal structural factors are associated with distinct patterns of movement across social and geographic space” among black and Latino “sexual minority men.”

The description for the grant program, which began in September 2024 and extends until July 2029, explains that the academics will use “Critical Race Praxis” and “intersectional anti-racism frameworks.”
It goes on to explain the alleged necessity of the study, arguing that “understanding how structural racism influences how BLSMM navigate the geography of LAC to receive SU and HIV care and how peer case managers, with racial and SU congruence, may enhance access to care will provide novel insights into the relationship between racism and HIV and SU treatment.”
UCLA will collaborate with researchers at the University of California Santa Barbara and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/federal-government-to-drop-over-1-5-million-funding-lgbt-youth-mentorship-and-campus-activism">recently reported</a> is set to receive $1.5 million from the Department of Health and Human Services to fund its youth mentorship and campus activism programs.
The UCLA study is one of many ideologically-tinged projects set to receive government funding. The Department of Health and Human Services has also agreed to fund the University of Houston study on “systemic inflammation” caused by “fear of deportation,” The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/government-to-fund-study-on-fear-of-deportation-leading-to-systemic-inflammation">reported</a>.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has also been used as a vehicle to advance far-left ideology, with a Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/27-of-national-science-foundation-grants-went-to-dei-projects-study-finds">investigation</a> revealing that 27% of all grants from the NSF went to support diversity, equity, and inclusion projects. Among the leftwing pet-projects raking in taxpayer funding through the NSF was a project at Columbia University to “decolonize geoscience” and another complaining that the academic peer review process is racist.
A representative for the UCLA study did not respond to a request for comment.

Federal Government Set To Drop $440k Studying ‘Structural Racism’ In HIV Treatment

The Department of Education said Monday that it had slashed more than $600 million in grants with groups that trained teachers and educational agencies in “divisive ideologies.” 
The canceled grants went toward things like workshops grounded in Critical Race Theory and professional development focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The action comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month directing the removal of “anti-American ideologies” from public schools and ending federal funding for grants or contracts pushing leftist ideology. 
The grants <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-education-cuts-over-600-million-divisive-teacher-training-grants">funded</a> training in Critical Race Theory, DEI, social justice activism, “anti-racism,” and instruction on white privilege and white supremacy, according to the Education Department. Other grants went toward teacher recruitment programs that were &#8220;implicitly and explicitly based on race.” 
Under some of the training that was paid for by taxpayers, teachers were required to take responsibility for “systemic” racism and instructed on how to respond to racism, ableism, “gender-based” discrimination, homophobia, and ageism. 
Sessions were called things like “Building Cultural Competence,” “Dismantling Racial Bias,” and “Centering Equity in the Classroom,” according to the department. 
One grant application was focused on providing “targeted practices in culturally relevant and responsive teaching abolitionist pedagogies and issues of diversity in classroom management.”
Parents Defending Education, a conservative group that has pushed for the removal of leftist ideology from schools across the country, praised the move from the Education Department. 
&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to overstate how radical these teacher trainings are—we are talking about forcing teachers to talk about their race at work, asking educators to &#8216;take personal and institutional responsibility for systemic inequities,&#8217; promoting abolitionist teaching practices and defining equity as equal outcomes,” Parents Defending Education Director of Outreach Erika Sanzi told The Daily Wire. “And not for nothing but all we see are declining outcomes for the students that these trainings purport to help most.&#8221;
Trump has pushed for major reform in the Education Department, even suggesting that he might abolish it entirely. Part of the overhaul has been mandating that federally funded schools stop promoting racial and gender ideologies. 
“Such an environment operates as an echo chamber, in which students are forced to accept these ideologies without question or critical examination,” Trump wrote in his <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/ending-radical-indoctrination-in-k-12-schooling/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a> on education last month. “In many cases, innocent children are compelled to adopt identities as either victims or oppressors solely based on their skin color and other immutable characteristics.  In other instances, young men and women are made to question whether they were born in the wrong body and whether to view their parents and their reality as enemies to be blamed.”

Kendi</a> is seeing his Boston University &#8220;Center for Antiracist Research&#8221; (CAR) close when its charter with the college expires on June 30, per the university’s <a href="https://www.bu.edu/articles/2025/ibram-x-kendi-departing-boston-university/">website</a>.
The center currently has 12 staff members who will remain employed until the June closure. CAR was founded in 2020 following the massive public outcry stemming from the death of George Floyd. The center faced declining contributions and support beginning in 2023, when donors began to question what, if anything, the center was producing. 
The announcement comes after Kendi said he was leaving Boston University to become the director of the newly created Howard University Institute for Advanced Study in Washington, D.C.

Boston University noted that in September 2023, &#8220;with public support having shifted and contributions waning,&#8221; the center &#8220;pursued a new strategy under Kendi,&#8221; which &#8220;included eliminating 19 staff positions.&#8221; Kendi was accused of financial mismanagement, but an audit done by BU found no evidence of wrongdoing, per <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/center-anti-racist-research-close-down-2024015">Newsweek</a>.
In the past, the center has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ibram-x-kendis-academic-center-focusing-on-antiracism-to-fire-staffers">sponsored projects</a> like creating an “antiracism curriculum,” an “antiracist book festival,” and “antiracism training for the workforce.”
The center described itself as &#8220;a full-service organization that translates antiracist ideas into action by unifying research, policy, narrative, and advocacy efforts. We take a rigorous, research-based, and integrative approach to transforming a racist society to an antiracist one.” 
It faced criticism for not producing any tangible research or assets during its existence despite being receiving millions of dollars in grant money and <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2025/01/30/ibram-kendi-howard-university-bu/?isMobile=1">more than $50 million</a> in donations.
Kendi, whose real name is Ibram Henry Rogers, is the author of books like “Antiracist Baby” and “How to Be an Antiracist.” 
He said in a statement: “Despite all the headwinds we faced as a new organization founded during the pandemic and the intense backlash over critical race theory, I am very proud of all we envisioned, all we created, all we learned, all we achieved—the community we built, the people we helped and inspired.” 
Kendi concluded, “To all the faculty, staff, administrators, students, supporters, and Boston community members, I feel honored to have been able to do this work with you over the last five years. I am departing for an opportunity I could not pass up, but what connected us at CAR remains, especially during this precarious time. Our commitment to building an equitable and just society.”

A Pentagon official and member of the United States Air Force hosted a panel discussion that pushed Critical Race Theory, with academics and a former member of the military claiming that America’s public school system has a “white middle class problem” and that racism is “part of the fabric” of the United States, a video obtained by The Daily Wire reveals.
The August, 2021 talk, part of a broader series called “Crucial Convos,” was titled “Critical Race Theory. What is it?” and included endorsements of the far-left theory from academics and a former member of the military.
The event was organized by a team including Brigadier General Terrence Adams, who stated during the talk that “this is not a military event at all, it was a grassroots effort to talk about different topics.” Multiple Air Force <a href="https://www.302aw.afrc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/2360805/crucial-conversations-come-to-peterson/">bases</a> have <a href="https://d34w7g4gy10iej.cloudfront.net/video/2204/DOD_108916513/DOD_108916513-1024x576-2000k.mp4">advertised</a> <a href="https://www.dvidshub.net/news/376512/schriever-listens-learns-with-crucial-conversations">installments</a> in the Crucial Convo series on their official websites, however, and the event was organized by Adams and moderated by retired Air Force Brigadier General Greg Brundidge. The Air Force did not respond to a request for comment.
Panelists reaffirmed the core dogmas of the leftwing ideologies, including that America is systematically racist, that white people enjoy unearned privilege on the basis of their race, and that disparities in group achievements are necessarily the result of discrimination and prejudice.
One panelist, a Georgia teacher named Dr. Jay Wamsted, asserted that disparities in academic achievement by race were due to a “white middle class problem” in America’s schools.
“Something is broken in the public schools, and it&#8217;s either nature or nurture, it&#8217;s either these black boys and girls or it&#8217;s, and I’m going to throw a stone here,  these white teachers,” Wamsted stated during the talk on Critical Race Theory. “Our structure of public schools has a white, middle class problem.”

He went on to imply that white American men are naturally complicit in both racism and sexism as a result of their identity and upbringing in the United States.
“I am not a racist but I do sometimes perform racist acts because of some imprinting on me growing up white and middle class in America,” he contended. “In a similar way, I am not a misogynist,” he added before stating that he does sometimes engage in misogynist acts because he was “raised in a patriarchal society.”

He provided one way in which white people can atone for racism, however. “When a white person is looking to help, an easy thing to do is spend your money at black businesses,” Wamsted stated.
Wamsted, who did not respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire, also recommended a book from leftist Carol Anderson that advances Critical Race Theory
“Carol Anderson wrote a great book called &#8216;White Rage,&#8217; which is a hard book to read if you’re white but it&#8217;s a good read,” he stated. The book <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/46010383-white-rage-the-unspoken-truth-of-our-racial-divide">claims</a> that “black advancement” is the “trigger for white rage,” and that white rage “works its way through the courts, the legislatures, and a range of government bureaucracies.” Wamsted did not respond to a request for comment.
Though Wamsted was perhaps the most radical of the panelists, others chimed in to reaffirm their support for Critical Race Theory and its core doctrines.
The talk was moderated by retired Brigadier General Greg Brundidge, who similarly advanced the belief that racism is deeply embedded in the institutions of the United States. “There’s not going to be a single home run hit that gets rid of racism, it is part of the fabric of the nation,” Brundidge claimed on the call.
Another guest, DEI consultant Tammy Hodo, claimed that race is not a biological reality but a social construct that white people have used to garner special privileges. “Race is not real, it’s a social construct, it is not biologically real,” Hodo said. We recognize that the European Americans alive today did not own slavery [sic] or anything like that but they have definitely benefited from the racial construct of white privilege.”
The panel conversation was part of a wide-reaching attempt by the Biden administration to embed Critical Race Theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies throughout the military and the national security apparatus.
The Biden Defense Department <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-pentagon-slated-to-spend-nearly-270-million-on-diversity-agenda">requested</a> a whopping $269 million to bolster its DEI agenda from 2022 to 2024, one investigation from The Daily Wire revealed. Military funds were even used to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-biden-harris-admin-paid-consultants-millions-to-help-military-implement-race-based-hiring-combat-resistance-to-dei">establish</a> a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) career pipeline program that discriminated against white and male students at the University of Missouri — Kansas City. The DEI pipeline program had to be modified following the Supreme Court’s decision against affirmative action.

From “Queer Time, Queer Space” to “Black Shakespeare,” universities across the United States are offering left-wing courses that range from the radical to the downright strange.
It&#8217;s no surprise that elite colleges and universities have left-wing biases. But rather than offer courses on Marx or critical theory, many institutions are going even further in the spring semester. Academics are bringing increasingly fringe subjects to the classroom, &#8220;queering&#8221; the world of architecture and &#8220;racializing&#8221; science fiction.
Here are some of the most woke classes being offered on college campuses this semester.
Art Films: Queer Time, Queer Space (Brown University)
The Ivy League institution in Providence, Rhode Island is offering students <a href="https://bulletin.brown.edu/search/?P=queer">Art Films: Queer Time, Queer Space</a>, which will encourage “a sustained meditation on cinematic practices that trouble and disrupt normative, reproductive, developmental, and accumulative time.” The description goes into more depth, explaining its methods.
“By situating queer theories of temporality in proximity to time-based art-making, we will engage with and analyze art films, digital media, and performative works that push the boundaries of the aesthetically and politically possible,” it adds.
Spaces of Queer Theory (University of California Berkeley)
Not to be outdone, UC Berkeley is hosting “<a href="https://classes.berkeley.edu/content/2025-spring-arch-139-001-lec-001">Spaces of Queer Theory</a>,” a class that examines architectural practices and their interactions with queer politics. It will delve into “queer necropolitics and the carceral state” as well as “the architectural futurity of queer communities,” all while discussing “queering architecture,” “queer ecologies,” and “spaces of queer consumption.&#8221;
Black Shakespeare; Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice (Columbia University)
Called “<a href="https://doc.sis.columbia.edu/#subj/AFEN/BC3817-20251-001/">Black Shakespeare</a>,” the Columbia University course raises the question, “Can performing Shakespeare be an activist endeavor?” It goes further. “Can creators and scholars separate Shakespeare from the apparatus of white supremacy that has been built around his works?” the course description inquires. It even probes, “What are the challenges and obstacles for BIPOC scholars working on Shakespeare in academia?”
Students at Columbia can also <a href="https://doc.sis.columbia.edu/#subj/EESC/GR9810-20251-001/">take</a> “Race, Climate Change, and Environmental Justice,” which seeks to untether science from its “colonial foundations” and encourages students to “decolonize their own research.”
“We begin by examining the colonial foundations of the sciences, with a special focus on the geo- and climate sciences,” the description explains. “The ideological underpinnings of these sciences assume the earth to be an inert object ripe for exploitation; this legacy of European modernity is often at odds with the worldviews of indigenous peoples and their relations with nature.”
AfroFuturism (Vassar College)
“Afrofuturists reconfigure notions of race and identity by appropriating science fiction tropes while speculating potential futures free from any Eurocentric gaze,” reads <a href="https://catalogue.vassar.edu/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=55&amp;coid=379772">the description</a> of the course at the Poughkeepsie, New York college.
“Beginning with Afrofuturist progenitor Sun Ra, we go “black to the future” and closely encounter other Afronauts such as Octavia Butler, Janelle Monáe, Nnedi Okorafor, OutKast, Parliament-Funkadelic, Ishmael Reed, and Fatimah Tuggar, among others.”
The Sexual Life of Colonialism; Race, Gender, and Medicine (Harvard University)
Students at Harvard University are <a href="https://courses.my.harvard.edu/dw_course/fas_crse_cat.pdf">invited</a> to take a course called “Race, Gender, and Medicine” which employs “feminist theory, disability justice movements, critical race theory, queer theory, anti-colonial thought, and trans liberation movements.” One of the focuses of the course, the description explains, is “the development and racialization of transgender medicine.” It also poses the question, “What unique challenges do trans and gender-diverse youth face in seeking medical care as a result of recent transphobic laws and policies?”
Another course at the institution is titled “The Sexual Life of Colonialism” and seeks to “investigate the role of colonialism and neocolonialism in racial imaginations of gender and sexuality.”
Black Feminist and Queer Contemporary Culture (Swarthmore College)
Pennsylvania&#8217;s Swarthmore College will offer a <a href="https://catalog.swarthmore.edu/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=30&amp;coid=100025">course</a> on “Black Feminist and Queer Contemporary Culture,” with a focus on “the works of black queer and trans visual artists and writers.”
“Using the tools of black feminist and queer theory, the class will cover topics and concepts such as Afrofuturism, stereotypes, intersectionality, surveillance, film, performance, abstraction/figuration, photography, poetry, and ungendering,” the description states.

Students can take both “Queer and Trans of Color Critique” and “Queer and Trans Latino Studies,” the latter of which “will explore the construction of gender and sexuality as it intersects with race, class, immigration, and other relationships of power” and focus on “Black feminist, women of color feminist, and queer of color critique writing and activism.”

It also has a number of different <a href="http://collegecatalog.uchicago.edu/thecollege/search/?caturl=%2Fthecollege&amp;P=queer">courses on queer politics</a>, including “Queer Theory and Queer Practice,” “The Aesthetics of Camp: Queer Style, Queer Sensibility,” and “Queer Theology and Queer of Color Critique.”

The University of California San Francisco School of Medicine is hosting a continuing education course for doctors run by a left-wing activist who said that “white people are psychopaths” because of their “evolutionary history.”
<a href="https://www.ucsfcme.com/2025/MMC25096C/info.html">The course</a>, which costs $575 per attendee and is titled “Understanding the Roots of Racism and Bias: Anti-Blackness, and Its Links to Whiteness, White Racism, Privilege, and Power,” will be administered by DEI consultant and anti-white activist Dante King. King previously gave a speech at UCSF titled “diagnosing whiteness,” in which he claimed that “whites are psychopaths” because of their “evolutionary history.”
&#8220;Whites are psychopaths and their behavior represents an underlying, biologically transmitted proclivity with roots deep in their evolutionary history,” King said.
“How many of you can see the proclivity that evolved deep within the evolutionary history of Whiteness by show of hands? How many of you could see it? Some people are sitting here, ‘Oh no, I don’t want to raise my hand,’ that’s called denial.”

“I’m not seeking agreement from white people at all. I don’t prioritize whiteness or white people,” he went on to say, also claiming that “anti-blackness is … the foundation of all white American institutions.”
A representative for King did not respond to a media inquiry asking if he stood by his comments.
King&#8217;s course counts for Continuing Education Credit, which physicians are <a href="https://www.boardvitals.com/blog/cme-requirements-by-state/">required to obtain</a> in order to maintain their licenses. The <a href="https://www.ucsfcme.com/2025/MMC25096C/info.html">course&#8217;s</a> objectives are for participants to “understand racism as psychological, sociological, and legal, as the main property and function of government, governance, and culture” and “develop individual and organizational anti-racist strategies and practices.”
The DEI agenda has been embedded in the medical field through the push for “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/doctors-must-do-equity-training-to-keep-license-in-washington-state-under-new-law">health equity</a>,” which presupposes that discrepancies between the rates at which different racial groups experience health complications are due to racism.
Attendees of the February course will be taught how to “begin thinking about anti-racist processes, policies, and programs to lead actionable change” and “develop awareness and make connections about institutional, structural, systemic, systematic, and interpersonal racism (as White supremacy culture and anti-Blackness culture).”
Dr. Jared Ross, a Senior Fellow at <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org">Do No Harm</a>, told The Daily Wire why he believes the upcoming course is so detrimental to the medical field.
“It is disheartening to see UC San Francisco, a taxpayer-funded state institution, promoting racism to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals under the guise of continuing medical education,&#8221; Ross told The Daily Wire. &#8220;This 16-hour course has nothing to do with providing excellent medical care. Instead, it uses debunked pseudoscientific research to promote radical ideologies such as implicit bias, racial justice, and social equity.”
“This course encourages racial segregation, erodes patient-physician trust, and degrades the rigor of medical education by taking the focus away from the individual patient and instead defining people by immutable characteristics.”
King&#8217;s most recent work appears to indicate that he is doubling down on his past inflammatory claims. King is behind a <a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/">docuseries</a> called “Diagnosing Whiteness and Anti-Blackness” that focuses on “White Psychopathology, Collective Psychosis &amp; Trauma In America.” Episode one of the 10 part series is called “<a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/episode01">Whiteness is Delusional,</a>” and it describes whites as both &#8220;psychopathic&#8221; and &#8220;sociopathic.&#8221;
The episode description explains that King and his fellow activists “unpack how White racism and anti-Blackness work to the advantage of White people, portraying them as psychopathic, sociopathic, immoral, and delusional in the context of American society.”
<a href="https://www.diagnosingwhitenessandantiblackness.com/episode06">Episode six</a> of the series cites “a lack of impulse control” as one of the “key factors that explain White behavior” and argues that “cultural whiteness” can be described through a “new clinical term” that he calls “Malignant Diabolical Psychopathy.”
“None of this should surprise us coming from Dante King, who is well known for his racist diatribes,&#8221; Ross said. “UC San Francisco would be better served to focus on teaching evidence-based medicine.&#8221;
UCSF did not respond to a request for comment.

Thanks to the overwhelming efforts of everyday American parents who have refused to bow to the radical Left, the war on Christmas seems to have gone cold.
In recent years, public fights and lawsuits over Christmas events and displays dominated the headlines every December. This season, however, they appear to have subsided.
Parents have bravely pushed back against woke propaganda in the schools, elected better leaders, and have fought for their children’s education over woke indoctrination.
Most teachers and administrators no longer want the hassle, the conflict, or the public attention and scrutiny that these disagreements bring. While in some aspects this is good news, the reality is the damage has already been done — the status quo implemented during the period of lawsuits and school board debates remains.
Students are treated to inoffensive and meaningless “holiday” and “winter” events that look more like low-octane paganism than anything actually believed by the critical mass of the student body.
Of course, this was the long-term goal all along. Even if the Left lost in the courts, in too many cases they won in the classrooms. Because most teachers and administrators don’t want the hassle, the end result has been the same as if they had actually won in the courts and the legislatures.
This is a tragedy for our children and for our culture. Instead, this should be an opportunity for educators and parents to share not only the tidings of the seasons, but also the importance of our country’s robust history of religious liberty.
Public schools, of course, are not meant to be a means of taxpayer-funded evangelization. At the same time, they should not be places where such voluntary discussions are stifled or drowned out by artificially inoffensive celebrations. They should not be an excuse for our educators to look away from the role that religious liberty played in our founding and what it means today. Many of our founders’ ancestors braved the difficult voyage across the Atlantic and carved out new lives in an uncertain and unforgiving wilderness, driven by the need to live out their beliefs in accordance with their consciences. There’s a reason the freedoms of conscience are the first to be included in our Bill of Rights, after all.
When we fail to teach children the foundational things, we do them a grave disservice. Children are going to take in values from whatever they are taught. They learn just as much from the absence of a thing as they do from the thing itself. Instead of learning that we live in a country where beliefs both matter and are respected, they learn to relegate them to the back of their minds and hearts as mere matters of taste and preference.
That’s no way to go through life, and it’s no way to form citizens who are ready to inherit the kind of republic our founders intended for them.
At the same time, America’s school children are still being instructed in values and beliefs from the front of the classroom, just not traditionally religious ones. For years, they’ve been instructed in Critical Race Theory and gender ideology, thanks to the dictates and incentives of the federal Department of Education. Now, that’s about to change.

With a new administration, we have an opportunity to push out all of the woke, anti-American bureaucratic rot at the top of the national education system. Really, we should not have a national education system. The best way to address the problems coming from Washington would be to get rid of them altogether and eliminate the Department of Education like President Trump has promised.
In addition to creating a bureaucratic nexus to indoctrinate our kids from Washington, it has done absolutely nothing to improve education outcomes since its inception. Since Jimmy Carter established this indoctrination machine in 1980, every academic statistic has only declined. We need to return control of education back to the states, where parents are in the driver’s seat, not some D.C. bureaucrat dictating decisions from their ivory tower.
People forget this country — the greatest country in the history of the world — was built without a federal Department of Education. The minds who built this country and sustained it through its most trying times were educated in one-room schoolhouses. The generations who defeated the 20th century axis powers and put a man on the moon for the first time in human history were the product of state-run education systems. We do not need federal bureaucrats to flourish — we need parents to be empowered to help their children prosper. After all, students are the next leaders of our great nation. This Christmas season, we can start preparing them for it.

A Biden State Department official tasked with combatting “systemic racism” displayed her far-left bonafides in a series of since-deleted social media posts, unearthed by The Daily Wire, in which she blasted Trump supporters as racist and praised a vitriolic anti-police rant from a left-wing activist.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-state-department-official-bringing-dei-to-foreign-policy">Desiree Cormier Smith</a> is the State Department’s first ever Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. Smith, a former employee of George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, is also a far-left radical, as evidenced by a trove of posts on her <a href="https://x.com/DesireeMCormier">now-deleted</a> X profile between October 2020 and January 2021, before she was <a href="https://www.state.gov/biographies/desiree-cormier-smith/">appointed</a> to her post in 2022.
Smith, who is tasked with building “global partnerships to combat systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia,” was named to her position as the Democratic administration pursued a broad diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda. Now, she could be relieved of her position as the incoming Trump administration pledges to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-the-trump-admin-can-purge-dei-from-americas-military-and-foreign-policy?topStoryPosition=1">purge DEI</a> from the federal government.
“We need this kind of honesty and accountability across all our government institutions!!” Smith said in response to a <a href="https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/kansas-city-police-board-viral-speech">vitriolic rant</a> in 2020 where a left-wing activist named Keiajah Brooks called cops “soulless white people” at a Kansas City Police Commission meeting. “I stan,” she said in another post in response to the video of the diatribe, also requesting someone to put music in the background of the clip.

“I&#8217;m not nice and I don&#8217;t seek to be respectable. I&#8217;m not asking you all for anything because y&#8217;all can&#8217;t and won&#8217;t be both my savior and my oppressor,” the leftist says in the video while speaking at the meeting. “So I&#8217;m not here begging anything of soulless white folks.”
Brooks went on to launch personal attacks against the members of the commission, telling one that he was an &#8220;out-of-touch and disconnected old white person with nothing but pure apathy seeping through the bulging veins of his paper-colored skin.&#8221;
Smith was so enamored with the clip that she asked someone to add backing music to the video, with one user fulfilling her request.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), who serves as the Chair of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, told The Daily Wire that Smith&#8217;s comments were divisive and harmful.
“The State Department exists to protect and advance the interests of the American people at home and abroad. However, many of Ms. Smith’s comments only serve to divide Americans and damage our cause and credibility on the world stage,” McCaul charged before reaffirming his support for Trump’s goal of purging the woke agenda from the federal government.
“I’m certain President-elect Trump will dismantle President Biden’s woke agenda at State and restore the department to its original mission of creating a more secure, democratic, and prosperous world benefiting Americans and the international community.”
The State Department did not return a request for comment.
The remarks from Smith, who makes <a href="https://govsalaries.com/cormier-smith-desiree-m-176287791">over $180,000 a year</a> in her State Department role, were just a sample of the many posts she made pushing far-left views and denigrating white people and Trump.
“Black Voters Saved White America Again and You’re Very Welcome,” she said in one post after the 2020 presidential election. “Interesting how non-Americans are able to see and name this much more clearly than many (white) Americans,” she wrote in a quote tweet to a post arguing that Trump’s 2020 candidacy was evidence that “the US is a deeply broken society.”

“Very very real,” Smith said in response to a tweet that read, “The fact that this presidential race is even this close proves that white supremacy is very real in America.”

In yet another tweet condemning white Trump supporters as racist, Smith urged her white friends to “miss me with the ‘I can’t believe it was so close’ texts and go talk to your racist families and high school friends. We did the work. Now it’s your turn.”

The Open Society Foundations alum directed her ire at Trump in some tweets, including one in which she signaled her belief that Trump was a “textbook” example of a fascist. She quoted a left-wing organization in another post, appearing to affirm the belief that “Donald Trump is a blessing to dictators around the world” and is “creating a global network of gangsters.”

Smith advocated for radical policies as well, calling for reparations and an end to the electoral college system, which she alleged was based on racism.
“We begin to repair our nations through reparations and healing,” one post read, with another saying, “Racism and slavery are at the root of this peculiar way to elect a president. In the 21st Century, it still submerges the Black vote. It’s past time to get rid of the Electoral College.”

Non-white diplomats, according to Smith, &#8220;come with a certain humility that I would say that a lot of white foreign service officers lack.&#8221;
The far-left official could now be one of the bureaucrats who is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/heres-how-the-trump-admin-can-purge-dei-from-americas-military-and-foreign-policy">fired</a> upon President Trump’s return to the White House.

The Biden-Harris administration has made no secret of its effort to push diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the United States. But it is also working to push the leftwing racial ideology around the world.
In 2022, the administration <a href="https://twitter.com/US_SRREJ">named</a> Desiree Cormier Smith the State Department’s first Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice. She is officially charged with advancing “the human rights of members of marginalized racial, ethnic, and Indigenous communities,” and building “global partnerships to combat systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia.”

Smith’s role is perhaps the biggest example of the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to pushing DEI. It is also a likely target for elimination should former President Donald Trump win re-election in November. Trump has indicated that he will fire leftwing bureaucrats who may otherwise obstruct his policy agenda.
Smith — who says her role exists “because the Biden-Harris administration acknowledges the global nature of systemic racism” — acknowledged as much during an appearance on a Harvard University <a href="https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/carr/our-work/justice-matters-podcast/racial-justice-without-borders">podcast</a>.
“If we get a Republican president or any other president in the future … then the whole-of-government approach might be a very different one and might not include this position any longer,” the interviewer said.
“That is a possibility,” Smith responded.
The Biden-Harris administration has pushed the DEI agenda throughout the national security establishment. The National Security Agency created a DEI glossary including terms like “white fragility,” “settler colonialism,” and “transmisogyny,” openly referencing the work of Critical Race Theorists, The Daily Wire revealed in an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-leaked-nsa-doc-reveals-massive-woke-glossary-pushing-critical-race-theory-gender-ideology-on-govt-employees">exclusive investigation</a>. 
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence also advanced the far-left DEI agenda, celebrating one intelligence agent who said that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-top-intelligence-agency-says-crossdressing-makes-man-better-intelligence-officer-internal-docs-show">cross-dressing</a> made him a better intelligence official and telling agents to avoid using “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/internal-docs-show-entire-intelligence-community-warned-to-avoid-problematic-phrases-on-islamic-terrorism">problematic phrases</a>” when discussing Islamic terrorism.
The military has embraced the same ideologies, with the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-air-force-celebrates-pride-month-with-ceo-of-organization-advocating-for-child-gender-transitions">Air Force hosting</a> the CEO of an organization that encourages child sex changes as a speaker at an LGBT pride event, and the Department of Defense <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-pentagon-slated-to-spend-nearly-270-million-on-diversity-agenda">requesting nearly $270 million</a> over two years for its DEI agenda.
A State Department spokesman told The Daily Wire that Smith’s appointment “underscores the Department’s clear commitment to combating systemic racism, discrimination, and xenophobia globally.&#8221;
&#8220;The State Department’s first-ever Special Representative for Racial Equity and Justice was established to advance the human rights of members of marginalized racial, ethnic, and Indigenous communities,&#8221; the spokesman said, sidestepping The Daily Wire&#8217;s inquiry as to whether or not the State Department believes that the United States is a systemically racist country. 
“Structural racism, discrimination, and xenophobia are global scourges that require global solutions,” Smith said in an <a href="https://www.csis.org/analysis/racial-equity-lens-us-foreign-policy">interview</a> with the Center For Strategic &amp; International Studies. She also claimed that white supremacy is a “global threat” that requires solutions across “continents and national borders.”
“So when we look at racially and ethnically motivated violent extremism, white supremacy is at the top of that,” Smith stated. “And so those who engage in violent White supremacy, again, they know no borders.”
FBI <a href="https://cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/hate-crime">data indicate</a> that white people are underrepresented among hate crime offenders in the United States relative to their share of the population over the last five years.
Smith began her diplomatic career in the<a href="https://pickeringfellowship.org/"> Pickering Fellowship</a>, a State Department program that seeks “members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the State Department, women, and those with a demonstrated financial need for graduate school.” She <a href="https://www.state.gov/biographies/desiree-cormier-smith/">previously worked</a> for leftwing billionaire George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, as a senior policy advisor for Africa, Europe, and Eurasia.
Smith says that DEI is a “national security imperative,” and that white supremacy is a “global threat” that requires solutions across “continents and national borders.”

Smith detailed one story in which she received a gift from a Brazilian woman who “gave me a shirt with a phrase in Portuguese.”
“Now, I don’t speak Portuguese yet, so when I got to my office I looked it up,” the State Department official went on to explain. “And the text on the shirt translated to ‘Justice is a Black woman, and she does not walk alone.’ And I thought it was so profound and so meaningful, as a Black woman.”

More than 100 school districts across the country have &#8220;land acknowledgement statements,&#8221; many of which say the United States was built on “stolen land” and committed genocide.
Districts in at least 17 different states have land acknowledgment statements, a Parents Defending Education analysis exclusively obtained by The Daily Wire shows. A land acknowledgement — which PDE defines as “a formal statement that is intended to recognize Indigenous or Native peoples as the original inhabitants/stewards of the land a school district, staff, and students occupy&#8221; — are often read at the beginning of meetings or other public gatherings.
New Hampshire’s Frances C. Richmond Middle School,  for example, claims that the United States was built on “stolen land” in its land acknowledgement <a href="https://rms.sau70.org/rms-land-acknowledgement">statement</a>.
“We, the RMS community, would like to acknowledge that our school is built upon the unceded land of the Abenaki and Pennacook peoples,” the statement reads before going on to say “the land was stolen.”
Minnesota’s <a href="https://www.rdale.org/discover/land-acknowledgement">Robbinsdale Area Schools</a> say that the district is “located on the homelands of the Dakota and Ojibwe people” before adding that “we recognize the painful history of genocide and forced assimilation of the Indigenous inhabitants of this land.”
&#8220;These so-called land acknowledgments are ridiculous virtue signaling designed to teach kids to hate America,” Michele Exner, Senior Advisor for Parents Defending Education, told The Daily Wire. “It&#8217;s even more insane when you consider that many of these schools are failing to teach basic academic fundamentals, but find the time to push this useless nonsense.&#8221;
The Minnesota school district is far from the only one that argues that the United States was built on genocide. Oregon’s North Clackamas School District blames the United States for “colonization” and “genocide.”
&#8220;We recognize the historic policies of colonization, genocide, relocation, and assimilation that affected Indigenous and Native families both past and present and that will affect those in the future, and honor the resilience and revitalization of our Indigenous and Native communities,&#8221; the district’s <a href="https://www.nclack.k12.or.us/departments/community-engagement/native-land-acknowledgement-in-north-clackamas">statement</a> reads.
Colorado’s Boulder Valley School District used <a href="https://www.bvsd.org/about/land-acknowledgement">similar language</a>, again accusing the United States of genocide.
“We acknowledge the atrocities committed here, including the painful history of genocide, forced assimilation, and efforts to alienate the Indigenous inhabitants from their homeland, supported by the policies of the United States government,” it reads.
California’s Contra Costa Office of Education has <a href="https://www.cccoe.k12.ca.us/About-CCCOE/About/Land-Acknowledgement/index.html">multiple versions</a> of its land acknowledgement, with one that reads “we recognize them, the legacy of violence, settlement, and displacement of these people who suffered and survived, and we recognize the importance of reverting this common history, of which we are all a part, by engaging in meaningful indigenous justice work today.”
Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland, meanwhile, <a href="https://www.pgcps.org/globalassets/offices/gov-relations-compliance-procedures/docs---ograc/board-policies/2000/board-policy-2513.1---indigenous-peoples-land-acknowledgement.pdf">created</a> a land acknowledgment while replacing Columbus Day with “Indigenous People’s Day.”
“While often well intentioned, land acknowledgments act as a form of virtue signaling by institutions and leadership,” PDE explains, calling them subversive given that they tell students that “they are occupying ‘stolen land’ from Indigenous tribes.”

A <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/california" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a> school district is facing calls for the federal government to launch an investigation into its hiring practices, with one organization claiming that it systematically engages in racial discrimination through its “equity” policies.
California’s La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District, located on the coast just outside of Silicon Valley, may have engaged in racial discrimination as it sought to attract “diverse” candidates, according to Parents Defending Education (PDE).
“La Honda-Prescadero cannot discriminate based on their race when hiring or making other employment decisions,” <a href="https://defendinged.org/press-releases/parents-defending-education-requests-investigation-into-la-honda-pescadero-unified-school-districts-equity-policy/">PDE wrote</a> in a letter to the Director and Regional Attorney of the San Jose Local Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. “We ask that your office promptly investigate the allegations in this complaint, act swiftly to remedy unlawful policies and practices, and order appropriate relief.”
PDE pointed to multiple documents from the school district that outline its approach to “equity” in hiring. One such document explained that one of the district’s goals is to “achieve an increase in diversity” of new hires. “By June 2024, district and site staff shall fully implement the LHPUSD hiring policy and achieve an increase in the diversity of the workforce in at least 75% of new hires,” the document reads.

Another district document, called “Hiring and Retaining a Diverse Staff 2024-2025,” explains how this goal might be achieved. A list of “strategies to encourage diverse candidates” instructs hiring personnel to “prioritize messaging that centers diversity/POC” and “track demography of candidate pool throughout the entire hiring process.”
The document even goes on to explain that hiring officials should be “purposeful about saying experience in lieu of degree” when advertising jobs in order to enhance the diversity of applicant pools.
The documents both appear to have been created after the district commissioned an equity audit report from an outside group, which charged $19,500 for its services. The report claimed that the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District “had room to improve how they recruit educators of color to increase the diversification of staff.”
“Research supports the importance of encouraging racially diverse candidates to remain in districts at proportional rates and provide them with equitable opportunities to progress upwards in the organization,” the equity audit commissioned by the district claims.
PDE warns that the measures taken by the school district to reengineer the demographics of their staff could run afoul of federal law. “PDE makes this investigation request as an interested third-party organization with members who are parents of school children throughout the country,” the organization explained, adding that “PDE and its members oppose racial discrimination and political indoctrination in America’s schools.”
The call for an investigation into the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District comes after PDE issued a similar call for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-york-school-district-faces-call-for-federal-investigation-into-race-based-hiring">investigate</a>  New York state’s Rochester City School District for similarly implementing an “equity policy” that appeared to create a hiring preference for “African American, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American” job applicants who qualify as “staff of color.”
The La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
